My BuckyNat Secret Santa for @bolshoiromanova for a prompt of Once Upon a December: Russian Royalty AU. I just couldn’t stop myself from drawing those clothes! Maybe it’s not as holidayish as it probably should be but I hope you don’t mind :)
#BuckyNat Secret Santa#buckynat#winterwidow#natasha romanoff#bucky barnes#black widow#Winter Soldier#those clothes should be way more ornate but my wrist said nope#eh im old#great#and with that thought#this drawing made me want to actually rewatch#with fire and sword#(ogniem i mieczem) lol#which I lat time seen in cinema when it premiered because we were dragged there as school trip#and since my dad loves all movies based on sienkiewicz books#i then concluded that it sucks#just because so#so maybe it's time to be adult and give them a fighting chance :D

rzecpospolita headline: captured cossack man released because he was too sad and beautiful to kill, not even people he hurt the most want him to die
I had to check English version of Ogniem i mieczem/With Fire and Sword to find out what ‘forejt’ means (English translated this as ‘outrider’ - someone who escords envoys on a horse) because Zagloba says that soldiers belive Jan will make outrider out of Bohun, his reason given that Bohun is ‘a showy fellow’ (in Czech he actually says ‘he’s a handsome guy’ - in comparison of other Zagloba’s descriptions of Bohun this still pretty tame)
Just being unfortunate soul and brave soldier shouldn’t really be enough for a guy who kidnapped your girfriend but it seems enough for our Jan to grant him complete freedom. I mean in the book it’s pretty clear you should only kill your opponents in a fight if you want to stay honorable person, but my heart goes for Jan going the extra mile to tell Rzedzian very angrily that while he lives he won’t let Bohun become a servant.
Not forgetting that part when he and Helena learn Bohun is captured and are so shocked they cannot say a word. Jan is described as restless when he asks what the prince did with Bohun. Not sure where Sienkiewicz was going with these little details but I know what conclusions I will draw from this :)
#oim#with fire and sword#ogniem i mieczem#I kinda don't get why go out of his way to keep him alive and then never use him in later books#besides apparently never smiling in Rozlogi#or Zagloba playing out his kidnapping of Helena as a game to Helena's own children#I literally couldn't belive what I was reading when I saw that lol#lets relive mommy's trauma kids#classic zagloba

Also speaking of unfinished drawings, I have so many that I started but there’s only so many hours in the day 😭
Those were the closest to being finished but I sort of abandoned them while getting into other things lol…. (The first is jojos fanart, the second is Ogniem i Mieczem)
Then I started this series of jojos fanarts because I wanted to draw hands
I also once played with an idea of drawing a series of illustrations focused on an older lesbian couple (and I sketched those when homesickness hit me, I wanted the setting to look like a Polish village)
And long time ago I also thought of illustrating some of the more memorable scenes from Victor Hugo’s novels
And a lot of people on instagram are asking me for more Remisa from Death Note haha…
I’m really not sure what my focus should be, I’d appreciate second hand opinions 🥺
#also in the past ipI used to sketch a lot of short comics in Polish either with OiM characters or original characters#but anytime I post these I get criticized so I won’t even incoude them in here lol#ramble

so for ship ask game: Mae/Fingon from Silm, Al/Mei from FMA aaaand maybe Bohun/Skrzetuski from Ogniem and Mieczem
he hehe hehehe well don't you just have the talent for picking things i don't actually ship XD
Russingon
it's not a notp for me, i certainly won't close a fic only because they are a tagged relationship in it, but still....
Don’t Ship It
1. Why don’t you ship it?
1. i read the silm first when i was 11 and my shipping brain wasn't yet on, so i just... never originally noticed them to be particularly gae? this is also why i hardly ship anything in the silm; 2. ohhh myyyy goddddd i (almost always) hate it when two rulers of separate countries are in love with each other. not exactly countries here but still. a political pain in the ass AND they don't have enough chances to meet and interact properly; 3. adding the romantic aspect to their relationship doesn't make it any more interesting for me than them being just friends? all the emotions i like to explore between them - sacrifice, grief, all that - works just as well without them being a ship
2. What would have made you like it?
i don't know, really. as i said, im not super opposed to the idea of the ship, i just don't think they are this interesting as a couple.
3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
well i do absolutely live for post-nirnaeth angst, so
also i will defend people's rights to ship it till my death, especially against those who say it's incest. 1. fuck off and 2. no it's not
Al/Mei
i'll be quite honest: i didn't pay enough attention to mei to have any opinion on the ship. i've read fics where they were a cute bg relationship but that's it
Bohun/Skrzetuski
.......look. again, as with russingon, i have nothing against it in particular. i even read some fics and enjoyed them and i LOVE the fanart. it's just that my blorbo from trylogia is Wołodyjowski and therefore bohun/wołodyjowski will always hold a higher position in my heart. as will bohun/kmicic because of that one excellent fic by FIligranka.
also i mainly ship skrzetuski with chmielnicki because they were the funniest bitches together, so. bohun/skrzetuski is somewhere quite low on the list of things i ship for sienkiewicz, low enough to go into the don't ship category
Don’t Ship It
1. Why don’t you ship it?
i enjoy them both more with other characters ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ also i don't really like skrzetuski, he's the fucking staś tarkowski of trylogia
2. What would have made you like it?
ngl i haven't read OiM since gimnazjum so i don't know if i remember correctly but like.... they could benefit from some more 1:1 confrontation scenes lol. also if skrzetuski wasnt just so irritating ugh
3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
as i said, fics are nice and the fanart is often AMAZING so shoutout to the people who enjoy them as a pairing for creating great content

Thank you @cienie-isengardu for tagging me to list my top 7 comfort movies
*(disclaimer: I don’t actually watch movies for comfort when I feel down. I cope in different ways. But these are movies that I return to because they’re fun and make me feel good.)
Star Wars Saga I-VI (and that could be the end of the list. OT is better for pure comfort though, PT for the feels)
Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring
Harry Potter 1,2,4 - especially Chamber of Secrets is my ultra fave part
Ogniem i Mieczem - @cienie-isengardu I saw it on your list and I was like: “yeah, that is definitely a comfort movie for me too!” Must be that common Polish experience lol
So I ran out of ideas for comfort films because I rewatch films so rarely nowadays, so here’s a few anime that I like to return to:
Darker than Black
Rurouni Kenshin
Fullmetal Alchemist 2003
I’m tagging @onimiman @lightsidecalling @gizkasparadise @arkham-prisoner @olliya @acertaincritic and anyone else that would like to share their comfort movies (or anime) ;)

quarantine q&a
tagged by @personal-j
are you staying home from work/school? i am and it’s driving me nuts. i don’t learn well without a structured school environment. i also feel like the teachers keep giving us more work than normally and i even don’t think they’re doing it on purpose - it just be like that. i also miss work so much - i’m trying out home cafe recipes and i’m learning to do the froth cat latte art thingy, but it’s not helping much. i just want a stupid espresso based drink with nice frothed up milk and syrup. like i crave a basic bitch vanilla latte.
if you’re staying home, who’s there with you? my whole fam - my sister, my parents and my cat. my dad leaves for work during the day, so we have this like really female household right now, which is interesting. i’ve found out that i am a very popular family member. everyone wants to do things with me and i think i might be overworked???? also, i’m tired of my family’s general bullshit but who isn’t in these trying times
are you a homebody? not really and this quarantine reminded me of it HARD. i’m like a shy extrovert - i thrive among people and i really do need company. i also focus better if i go out and i prefer to work in a cafe or a library. i also love going out to eat with friends, it’s like a hobby of mine. i miss fancy hip coffee shops and restaurants :(((
what movies have you watched recently? what shows are you watching? i don’t watch much movies cause they seem like a huge time commitment, but i did manage to watch “parasite” right before the cinemas closed (and boy did i have to look all over the city for a theatre that still played it). i also had a movie marathon of with my friends literally the weekend before the quarantine with such iconic films as “pan tadeusz” and “ogniem i mieczem”. as for shows, i just finished “hotel del luna”, 10/10 very sad. i plan to catch up on brooklyn 99 as soon as manage to pirate it lol
an event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled? i was supposed to be going to my first academic conference as a presenter like next month. it’s postponed (maybe thats good cause i have prepared absolutely nothing) and i hope they don’t cancel it. i’m going to a fob concert this summer that i hope won’t be cancelled and i wanted to get tickets for bts mots tour in berlin. it’s not cancelled or postponed - we just don’t know anything about ticket details (@bighit square tf up)
what music are you listening to? this is THE PERFECT MOMENT to shamelessly plug my quarantine playlist (with tunes that just sound like they are about the coronavirus and i find that hilarious) tbh i actually listen to mostly calming study tunes cause i’m b u s y af (this spotify playlist or the generic yt lofi hiphop radio) also some rainy day music but only when it RAINS (on spotify or yt)
what are you reading? papers about american gothic for my writing assignment before the quarantine i also started rereading “the plague” by camus as a joke i’m not sure if i’ll finish tho - it’s not so funny anymore
what are you doing for self care? while i’m mostly doing shit i do try to do something about it. i try to dress up like i’m actually going outside (i do opt for my comfiest outside pants tho) and to somewhat keep my daily routine and that’s about it i also panic bake but i don’t think that’s a good thing
i tag @jumpsuit-for-the-mad @opheliablossom @letsgetcartoon @pure-as-the-lilies @teenagemuffin and that’s enough of that i guess

this is good shit
