Behind the scenes of a Tumblr Writer - Tag Game
Hey there, I love behind the scenes and since this is something that's rarely talked about, let me start the chain... if you feel uncomfortable with a question, just skip it. You can add some if you want as well.
Started writing: I wrote my first Harry Potter fanfic at age 10. Started posting around 15,16 years old. I'm now 31, so...
Started blogging: I started on a German fanfiction site around 2010/11 I think. Might have been earlier too, but back then I was mostly reading, no posting. I really started when I got into One Direction (very late, tbh)
Followers: Currently at 961, which is wild to me. I don't even know that many people IRL. I convince myself that half of them are bots tbh, so I don't freak out all the time.
Communication: The people I talk to regularly are: a few writers who answered after I constantly reblogged and commented on their works and a few people who commented and reblogged my work. Writing and blogging on here can be pretty lonely, depending on your personality and the time you're active (I'm from Europe and a lot of my followers seem to be living in Northern America, so there's the Timezone thing) ... And I found that the best way to strike a conversation is to reblog, comment, and to not be shy. I do wish I got more asks, though....
Likes: I actually filter them out. I have 793 original posts up at the moment. It doesn't give me anything to know how many likes a fic has other than to tell me which characters are liked more than others or maybe that one fic does especially well. My activity only shows me comments, asks, reblogs with tags, and answers to my own asks. I live for the tags and the comments.
Requests: I love talking to people about ideas. That's how I started the plotbunny game because I have so many ideas and so little time. And sometimes an idea just doesn't want to be written out fully. Requests are fun because YAY, I get some mail... but then I freak out because I don't really know how to write this NOW and then I freak out because it's been a week already, two weeks, wait, two months? I'd rather have suggestions where people tell me vague things like "I'd love to read something about this side character" or "Have you ever considered this character with a soulmate trope"? because then I don't have the feeling of failing the request when I write it a little bit differently.
Writing: I am a fast writer. I know that's one of my talents. I can churn out a oneshot of 1k words in less than an hour. People read slower than I write. That can suck sometimes because you've just posted this and you want to know what people are thinking but they're not as fast as you are. I do have a lot of ideas. I want to write constantly but my brain doesn't always want to. I am trying to respect that.
There are also certain things that I just feel wrong writing. I cannot write anything suggestive (I also don't like reading it) and everything past that gives me panic attacks. I can hardly write mean characters and jealousy feels so wrong to me that I cannot write it. I've also overdone it with the soulmark trope and now I feel like everything I write about it feels lifeless.
I write best in the mornings before going to work, but I don't have much time there. I don't need special music (but it helps), but I need to have at least some energy left and at best, no distractions. But I have been writing for over 20 years, so I will say experience helps a lot.
Tagging: @revasserium @shoulmate @lemurzsquad @screamin-abt-haikyuu @toomanygoldfish @satorisoup @emmyrosee @reverie-starlight @alienaiver and @writingsofanomnivore and everyone else who wants to join

TOA Anniversary Munday
Celebrating TOA and the people who contribute to make our group what it is.
Repost, don’t reblog. Only fill in what you feel comfortable sharing!
Happy anniversary, TOA! Here’s to many more years spent together.
Name: Serena
Pronouns: she/hers
Birthday (no year): February 3rd
Where are you from? What is your time zone? US, EST!
How long is your roleplay experience? I’ve been roleplaying as long as I can remember... I have vivid memories of creating characters with my friends as a small child and pretending to be them. From there, I moved to forums, paper and pencil RP, texting and email RP, and the like! I’ve been roleplaying on Tumblr specifically for over 10 years.
How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? I think it really just came naturally to me and my few friends as a kid, haha! My first forum was a Harry Potter one as a child... and then I got into Tumblr RP with my introduction to Star Trek!
How were you introduced to TOA? I found TOA while in the “fe rp” tag, as they’re really frequent in there!
Do you have any pets? I have two cats, a 4 year old gray cat named Jasper, and a less than a year old black cat named Jacinth! They don’t get along 💖
What is your favorite time of year and why? (Season, holiday, general period) Winter by far! I grew up in a humid environment, and I find the colder weather and environment so magical! Even though I’ve moved, I still do 💖
What is your IRL occupation? I’m disabled!
Some interests and things you like/enjoy? I love crocheting, playing farming sims, and watching anime!
What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? Fields of Mistria is my favorite game rn!! I’m also a sucker for a game I’ve been playing since I was young called Mabinogi! But a good rule of thumb is, if it’s a farming sim available on the computer I’ve heard of it and have an opinion on it.
Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: I never really got too much into Pokemon buuuuut my favorite TemTem is Vulffy 💖
Tell us some fun facts and trivia about yourself!
How did you get into Fire Emblem? I met Havoc in another roleplay space and when we moved away from that space I wrote with his Fire Emblem characters, and then I was curious about the source material, so!
What Fire Emblem games have you played? FE7 and a little tiny bit of Three Houses! 👍
First & Favorite Fire Emblem games: FE7 for both JKLFAJKL
List your 5 favorite Fire Emblem characters across the series! Ohhhhh I mean. Definitely Serra and Fiora but also Florina? And Erk? And Heath? And... ohhhh tbh it’s so hard. They’re all so good.
Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! The first time Serra opened her mouth she had reached through the screen and grabbed me by the throat.
Any Fire Emblem crushes? I’d marry Eliwood tbqh....
If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? Wheezes.... I haven’t.... ever gotten that far .....
Favorite Fire Emblem class? I actually love Mages sooooo bad.... But I do rely on my Cavs for. Everything ,
If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class and stats? Would you be playable? I’d be a healer!!! Probably a mounted healer actually!!!
If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation? (Black Eagles, Blue Lions, Golden Deer, Church of Seiros, Those Who Slither in the Dark, unaffiliated civilian, other - for example Almyran) Probably Church of Seiros!!
If you were an Officers Academy student, what would be your boons, banes and potential budding talent? Boons: Faith Banes: Everything else 😅 Budding Talent: Maybe Reason?.... ha ha.... Deep down I want it to be Bows, though
If you were an Engage character, which nation would you originate from? (Firene, the Kingdom of Abundance; Brodia, the Kingdom of Might; Elusia, the Kingdom of Knowledge; Solm, the Queendom of Freedom; Lythos, the holy land of the Divine Dragon; Gradlon, the desolate land of the Fell Dragon) I really have no clue but I’ll say Lythos for fun 🙏
How do you pronounce TOA? 🤔(separate letters, to-ah, other?) Separate letters!
Current TOA muses: Fiora and Serra!
Past TOA muses? I wrote Limstella for about seven seconds but actually still muse them in another server!
Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? Serra! Yes, I still got her!
Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? YES I write Sunshine Girls or Melancholic Girls. Sometimes both at once. 🙏
Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? Honestly not really, I think I could figure out how to write other muses but these are the ones I enjoy most!
What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I really love delving into emotionally or physically charged things... I’m a little angst demon.... I really want our characters to feel and feel deeply....
Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? For Fiora, I hope to confront her feelings of failure and sorrow over her losses. I want her to be called out!!!! For the self-sacrificial shit she does!!!! I want her to be honest and emotionally vulnerable!!!
Favorite TOA-related memories? I feel like every thread I write is my new favorite thread 🫶
Present or past tense? Present tense recently, honestly!
Normal size text, small text, no preference? I actually like small text the most but I’ll do anything!!
Got any potential muse delusions to share? 😉 Nope! I’m happy. 😌

I done got frustrated
My desire to keep my opinions to myself managed to last most of the day. New record tbh.
So like I wrote this big long rant a couple of weeks ago and decided against sharing it while I was still frustrated. But I do feel like maybe there is a larger discussion to be had! I think it's important that we as a writeblr community really take a look at why so many of us are getting so frustrated so often and how we as a community and as individuals can work towards an actually community vs a corner of social media. @blind-the-winds did an excellent job of explaining some of what I'm seeing as well in relation to why a lot of positivity and support posts and such ring hollow to so many of us. I wanted to bring a slightly different perspective to things coming from a marketing/social media marketing background. Under the cut out of respect for everyone's dashboards lol
This is going to get INCREDIBLY LONG. So I have a read more here. Behold, the bitchfest.
So this started today when I was chatting with an irl friend and expressing my frustrations about writeblr in general as a community. And what I've recognized now is this: writeblr isn't really much of a community, and it is very rare to find other creators and writers who are willing to treat you (the hypothetical writer) as another human being with a love for the same craft they do. Those people who do treat you like people are some of the loveliest people I've found on the internet, but they are hard to find.
Now, to be clear, I don't think the problem is completely writeblr's fault, nor do I believe it is any one or two or five hundred individual's fault. The problem comes from a number of different sources, and my friend did a great job of helping me see the problem from a number of different perspectives.
The problem being this: it is impossible to get engagement on posts that feature original long-form writing, and it is exceedingly difficult to effectively foster meaningful connections with other writers.
Some disclaimers: it's not impossible, and the people who successfully receive engagement on their long-form writing tend to be the people who are the exceptions proving the rule. Also, by "engagement" I mean any interaction that serves to both consume the content and spread the content. "Original" writing refers to writing that is not fandom related, and "long-form" means 1k words or more.
Do you think 1k words is a little short for "long-form" writing? Me too. I'll get to that.
I'll start my explanation here with what catalyzed these revelations in my little head. Over night, I got quite a few new followers, all directly coming from a post that got mildly popular here on writeblr. So, I looked at what other posts of mine have been popular, and I started to notice a trend.
My most popular posts tend to fit into one of three categories: memes, tag games, and boost posts/recommendations. Memes tend to be popular because they're funny and easy to spread, and as long as they fit the theme, they don't ruin a blog's aesthetic. Tag games get more interaction because I am directly tagging people to see the post. But the popularity for those posts tend to stop at the half dozen to a dozen people tagged in each given post (the person or people tagging me, and the several people I tag to continue the game). The last category is most interesting to me, the boost posts and recommendations.
Here's the thing, I only boost or rec other writers and blogs if I have invested interest and care into the person behind the blog and their content. AKA, I only really boost friends and writers I admire/like their content. It's great to see that those posts get popular with people outside my circle, but out of those three categories, none of them feature my own content.
Why is that?
It seems like every day I see a new post with a few thousand notes at least complaining about a lack of interaction on writeblr and the importance of reblogs and blah blah I rarely stop to read those let alone spread them. And a few dots connected, I think.
If my content isn't getting interaction, and your content isn't getting interaction, then what is? And I think the answer is this: memes, advice, and boosts.
Memes and advice are self-explanatory. But boosts are interesting because you will see everyone hop on to rec other people or more frequently market themselves, but they stop there. And I see my greatest influx of interaction and new followers when I boost other people's works or blogs.
My conclusion is that many people are using writeblr as a hustle and not a community. In a community we engage with each other, talk to each other, enjoy each other's company. And I've found many mutuals to be very lovely people who I do enjoy and who I love to engage with and who I like to genuinely call my friends. I like a lot of yall for different reasons too! Some of you are great hype buddies, some of yall are all about that accountability buddy system, and I really love when I get to have intellectual conversations about the craft and different concepts with different members of writeblr too.
But largely, I find that a lot of people who engage once with my blog, usually on those boost posts, or who ask for engagement more frequently than when frustration strikes, tend to be the people who think of writeblr as a hustle. They see that I (and many other writers) will boost and rec our friends, and jump on that bandwagon, but instead of putting in the effort to get to know us and our work, they say what needs to be said, hop on trends, and avoid any genuine connection.
So what gives?
It's not the individual writers, I think. It's the nature of social media, marketing, and the medium.
Listen, I work in marketing, and long-form writing is a dying art that is very difficult to market. I genuinely think the concept of "tldr" really ruined a lot of people's ability to engage with longer form writing. Whether that be nonfiction opinion posts or actual fiction. Tumblr is one of the only places I can think of where long-form writing is a feasible medium to post at all, let alone gain a following for.
Think about it: instagram is best suited for images, videos, and short-form aestheticized poetry. Twitter has a character limit that requires long threads of individual tweets or images to get your message across. Pitch events are well-suited for twitter because your pitch by definition needs to be short. But sharing actual summaries, snippets, or excerpts? Not really possible. Tiktok is for videos, which as we know can be utilized, but is not the most efficient method of marketing written word. Ao3 is an archive with an excellent tagging system, but to get readers, outside marketing is required. Facebook requires a real name, and isn't really well suited for content creation either. Wattpad, Royal Road, and others are great for posting actual works, but they don't necessarily have well-functioning tag systems that help the author find their audience. That really just leaves Tumblr. Pillowfort is also an option, though it's still so in the beginning phase of development that it's pretty difficult to get started there.
It's well known in marketing that images and videos catch attention and long paragraphs of text (AKA what most prose looks like) tend to be scrolled past. The very nature of the long-form writing medium is against most marketing techniques. Marketing long-form writing needs to look different from any other medium.
All that being said: the culture of social media engagement has shifted, and this is a conversation that fandom has been having and I think has actually been doing well discussing the different facets of how the culture has shifted. Fandom (and content creation in general) is seen as a commodity to be consumed. Consumers want to see the content, maybe save it for later, and then move on to the next piece. This is easily done with visual mediums, but writing mediums are especially vulnerable to this culture shift because it does require so much time and energy to consume, let alone engage.
Creators don't see their work as a commodity to be consumed, but it is now. When consumers view a piece of visual media, they view the image (consume it) and then move to the next, some will spread it to others by engaging with the picture through reblogs or sending the post to someone else. But most often, there will be a "like" to tell the creator good job, and then scroll to the next. This is harder to do with written media unless one has the time and energy to read the piece. There's the extra step of critical thought.
To put it a different way, the market is flooded with content and creators. With so much to choose from, the consumer now does not have to participate in the community to ensure continued creation. There will be another creator tomorrow. The consumer no longer feels connected to a community of their interests, it is simply being sold to them.
So back to writeblr, this is where I am at a crossroads. I am tired of creating content to be consumed, I want community. But also, I have nowhere else to turn. I can either completely withdraw from what sliver of community I have found, or I can keep trucking along, create my stuff, play the games we play, chat with the people I do like and do care about, and hope that I don't get too frustrated one day and leave for good.

Also Michelle giving mostly backhanded compliments to the kids unless she's specifically talking about Atticus or Alexis now 😭/pos
Like I changed a line so she calls the J-Squad Chazz's "little friends" instead of just friends which changes the whole vibe of that line and now another line I changed, unless I change it again she says "It was lovely meeting you all, children. I'm glad to see that my Chazz has managed to keep good company while he's away from home."
Damn, Michelle 😭
I can't wait until I finish with the whole fic and I can post the revisions this revised version is gonna be so good it might move SBH up on my tier list I can feel it in my bones akakskks
Doing revisions to Sustained By Hate has been great because I get to add things like Chazz's mom talking about his brothers like they're good people in front of him when she arrives on the island because she legitimately doesn't know how awful they are.
Legit a line I added for her is "You and I both know your brothers have always been good, respectable people." Oh poor, horribly misguided Michelle 🥲
In my lore for her they gaslight her and lie to her face about anything bad they've done so she still thinks they're decent guys. And Chazz can't talk to her to tell her the truth because even though he's her favorite son, she'd either not believe him or if she confronted them about anything they would lie and gaslight her into believing them so he just doesn't talk to her about anything they do/have done. So she still thinks highly of them which Chazz doesn't like and she's unknowingly contributing to the problem with his familial situation because she doesn't know what the problem is and therefore can't really avoid it. Which only makes his relationship with his mom tense too which sucks for him because she's the one person in that house that gives a damn about him.
I also get to characterize her more properly to what I've developed her to be since I came up with her originally. And she can be, not exactly meaner, but exhibit her Princeton qualities more on the surface than in the original version. She's too nice in the og to be perfectly frank. Michelle needs to actually feel like she reminds Chazz of his brothers like "oh right, she's their mom too." And I don't feel like she does.
She and Chazz need to actually fight in chapter 4 too like I, as the writer, need to believe he's mad at her and that she feels bad that the last conversation they had before he loses his voice was a fight and that she was too hard on him. Like the og is so tame honestly aksksk.
I'm having too much fun with revising/quasi-rewriting this fic but also being so critical in a way I don't like help 😭
#this woman needs to be stopped and I will only continue to enable her#literally she's acting so much more like his mom now why didn't I play her that way back when I actually wrote this thing 😭#I adore overly nice Michelle but I'm obsessed with backhanded complimenting very nice on the surface but seriously intimidating Michelle#stealing own tags here#But like the part in chapter 6 where she threatens to get Fontaine fired because she doesn't know what's wrong with Chazz#Michelle needs to be that more often. she's a nice lady but at the same time she's not and she needs to be more intimidating consistently#I'm mean she's and older rich lady she's got that air and presence about her and I always wanted her to be that way but still a nice lady#but in the process I made Michelle ~too~ nice when I originally wrote the fic#either way I've only barely gotten started with all thia stuff I've got a lot of the fic left to even think about.#and tbh the majority of my revisions are just gonna be breaking up big long paragraphs into smaller paragraphs#partially to clean things up a bit format wise and also to make it easier on my own eyes to go back and reread#I've gone and done that with pretty much every fic I've written in the past so now it's this one's turn#broke down big paragraphs in the entirety of OUAD yesterday it felt really good akakak#yugioh#yugioh gx#ygo gx#yugioh gx fanfiction#chazz princeton#jun manjoume#abby's just rambling don't mind her#abby fully admits she's an idiot#abby needs to be stopped#self reblog

fic quiz
tagged by the wonderful @nameslikeguns, thank you!
1. How many works do you have on ao3? 38! Got two WIPs cooking so hopefully I'll hit 40 by the new year :)
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
226,530
3. What fandoms do you write for? Literally just SPN these days. I do tend to just write for one fandom for years at a time though!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
when i'm down on my knees you're how i pray
someone forever warm
when i hear your lips make a sound
and if you crave it then you know that you are injured
i don't mean to suggest that i loved you the best
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes - eventually. I am always so happy and grateful for comments, they fuel me, but I'm bad at replying to them bc as @nameslikeguns said I can find it difficult to respond bc I find kind words hard to know how to respond to. IRL if someone compliments me I tend to just squirm lmao so my responses to comments are the online equivalent of that I guess! I tend to just scattergun reply to my whole inbox all at once when I feel brave enough.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh gosh; as someone who mostly writes angst this is really difficult to say! Most of my endings are *~angsty~*. but I guess the first that came to mind is i don't mean to suggest that i loved you the best.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? That's easy lmao. so many moving parts or maybe some unholy war, which is a fic I forget about because i wrote it so early on... but it has a happyish ending!
8. Do you get hate on fics? i don't know about hate but i've had the odd pass agg anon here and there who wanted to tell me my edgelording triggered their IBS or about how much they hate john. Just makes me lol tbh.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Is the pope Catholic... :) Yeah my fics are predominantly smutty but I don't write a lot of straightforward porn these days (I want to but the muse doesn't take me there). Wanky as this is going to sound I usually build the story around the smut so I can get horny and Make A Point at the same time. Works pretty well for me!
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I used to write a ton of bandslash back in thr day and that quite often involved crossovers from different, er, bands. I'm not going to talk anymore about that though lmao.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not fully stolen to my knowledge but there was a fic going around tumblr recently that had quite clearly borrowed heavily and too specifically from this fic to be a coincidence. The person in question when my friend investigated was actually a minor so... it felt really difficult to do anything about it lol, I'm not about to go after a child on the internet. So I just made a pass agg reblog of the original fic instead like "Hey recognise this?" like the mature and sensible adult I am. But BELIEVE the bee in my bonnet is still buzzing about that.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes in my previous fandom I had a few translated into Chinese and Russian! That was really cool.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes several back in my bandslash days... I wish I could refind my Franz Ferdinand girlies from LJ and confess that I was one of the people behind "the dark!fic" lmao. (Or maybe not bc I was like 14 and had no business being in that community or posting what I was posting).
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? John/the world. I want that old man to fuck everyone. Or possibly get fucked by everyone depending on where the mood is taking me.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Serial killer John may be one of my roman empires and yet it lies in googledocs gathering dust. One of my resolutions for 2024 is to finish it.
16. What are your writing strengths? Ugh these questions make me feel so awkward lmao. I mean... I think I have quite a good range? Which is feedback I get quite a lot so hopefully there's some truth in it! And I think I'm quite good at imagery and emotional pacing ig? I'm not sure what else to call it. Also in the vein of common feedback anyway.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? SELF DOUBT. Honestly mate if I wasn't bogged down with that shit so much I'd be dangerous 🤪 It does make me write slowly and abandon a lot of stuff I start but I'm working on it. From a technical standpoint though I do struggle with plot. I think I'm more of a vibes/moment in time writer than an epic plot writer which does gall me lol. But yeah - I definitely struggle with longer works because I struggle with keeping things cohesive and overwriting/explaining then just overwhelming myself. Again, a resolution to work on for 2024. I also feel like I struggle with dialogue sometimes; if it doesnt magically come to me fully formed which is rare I'll really have to work at it. Trust me if you've ever written a dialogue heavy fic from me then just know that chances are said dialogue will have chopped and changed and been edited within an inch of its life.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I can only speak English sadly and have ultimate respect for people who write in a language that is not their first. That's just so amazing to me.
19. First fandom you wrote for? The White Stripes. Lmao. There were quite a lot of us back in the day.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Hands down i heard love is blind. sharp teeth dry heat and when the stiff wind blows are close seconds because i lived my goddamn truth with both of those fics 🥲 And I have a somewhat complicated relationship with what it is but I'm happy that it exists and i'm happy that it still does the rounds occasionally!
tagging @amiwritesthings @castratedsamwinchester @spnyuri @lovetranasction @beautyandthebeastiality @babybrothershaped and whoever else wants to do this idk who is and isn't writing atm lol

@cerriddwenluna For a brief second I considered some paranormal shit where Blaine is a ghost. As in, after death he’d be stuck as a ghost version of his younger self and due to idk magic he’d come back to life at the end of the fic. And it’d be a cool way to explore a new take on life, because Blaine has had a long and fulfilling life and he died, and remnants of his past life would still be there. I even wrote “ghost!blaine anyone??” as a tag on the original post before deleting it, because, nah. The bowtie exhibition idea stems from what legacy someone leaves behind when they die and I recently reblogged a post to my main that I am a huge supporter of death in fiction when it makes sense (unlike, ya know, Bury Your Gay-esque shock value), so bringing Blainers back to life felt cheap. I mean, I can do this ghost!Blaine thing another time, in a different setting, but not for this fic.
(I am wording it as if I have decided I am going to write it. I’m not, but I did put it in my #story ideas tag, so who knows.)
And tbh the whole “in every lifetime” has been kind of done with my fic All the pretty things that we could be, *including* a chapter where Kurt and Blaine don’t end up together and they’re still happy with the alternatives. Sorta. Although unlike in your idea, they did date before a break-up yada, yada, by the way, your idea sounds very compelling so if you want to scream about that in the DMs, you are always welcome.
BUT I DID FIND A WAY TO SATIFSY OUR KLAINE HEARTS. What if this is a world where Kurt and Blaine had a happy life together and after their deaths, their kids donated the bowties to the museum, the same way my family is doing now (assuming it’s a donation, cause uhhh, still don’t know), and an OC comes in and experiences everything that Kurt in the original idea experiences and then the fic unravels the story of this Klaine through the OC’s findings about Blaine???
(Again, I am wording it as if this is going to be a thing, but no.) (And if it does happen, then not any time soon cause I wanna finish Ljubim te first.)
Not gonna lie, I do really like my original idea, with Kurt finding Blaine’s work, because I do like an, I don’t know, “alternative” fic, ya know? Putting Kurt and Blaine in a transformative work allows you to play with it and it did make me go “Oh???”, but why not both?
#can't remember if you read all the pretty things so i'm not gonna spoil#but not to toot my horn but i quickly read some of that chapter and oh yeah i did that huh?#cerriddwenluna#story ideas#replies

(It’s available online for free go read it cough)
Three Ships: I mean I guess it’s pretty obvious I only reblog Adore Delano shit bc I’m lazy and they’re hot so anything Adore Delano. Mainly I write Adore Delano/Bianca Del Rio though. SWAN-FUCKING-QUEEN. Nough said, Emma Swan & Regina Mills. Always. Idk who my 3rd is tbh, rn I’m low key into anything with Raja or Courtney ? Idky. *looks at currently reading* Although I could write absolutely fucking ESSAYS about the throuple that is Wolverine, Jean Grey and Scott Summers. Honestly.
First Ever Ship: I honestly don’t know, probably Monica & Chandler. Super cliche I know. Yukari & Koizumi from Paradise Kiss also did a pretty fucking good number on me like I still weep. SQ was the first BIG, BIG ship though. Talho & Holland from Eureka Seven maybe even? I shipped myself with characters all the damn time though Trunks from DBZ, Tommy from Power Rangers…Mokuba from YuGiOh…I was like 7 okay.
Last Song: That I listened to? Summertime Sadness by Planleft
Can’t stand the original but this shit 😚👌🏻 chef’s kiss.
Currently Reading: Oof so. Undone by @veronicasanders & 4theloveofdrag. Just finished catching up with Single Gay Dad’s Club by Dartmouth420, which I didn’t think I’d enjoy bc ew kids but it was pretty cute I liked it a lot. Both Immortal X-Men & Night Club are my favorite ongoing comics right now but Dark Knights of Steel & Might Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 are CLOSE second.
Currently Watching: Yikes again. I’m currently through my 6th Golden Girls & Murder She Wrote rewatch, but I’m also flip flopping between the new & old episodes of the Simpsons bc it makes good background noise. Literally right this second though I’m watching Mrs Grant Takes Richmond bc I do in fact love Lucy.
Currently Consuming: My 6th cup of coffee for the day and a slice of cheese. I’m super health conscious. Closely watch my macros and whatnot obviously.
Currently Craving: Low key a day off and a beer, might try to finish my deadline a little sooner today and indulge a little.

How to tell a theatre reviewer doesn't know as much about Shakespeare as they'd like you to think:-
- they say a production of "Richard III" is too funny
- they say a production of "Cymbeline" is too weird
- they say a production of "Coriolanus" is too gay
- they say anything bad ever about Jade Anouka's Shakespearean acting (NB if they do this it also means they are almost certainly a massive bigot)
- they criticise a production of "Macbeth" for being too straightforward and as-written
- they criticise a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for not being straightforward and as-written "enough"
- they criticise any production of any play for having too much: politics, queerness, transness, singing, dancing, sexual innuendo, proto-feminism
- they criticise racially-diverse, disability -inclusive, and gender-flipped casting (this also usually means they're a terrible person)
- they think it's an actively good thing if Rosalind in "As You Like It" is still really feminine when dressed as Ganymede
- they think they're being really cool and subversive by not liking Shakespeare
- they think they're being really awesome and arty by not liking anything being written now

Happy Hobbit Day!
Today being the birthday of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins (September 22nd, that is).
Here are some suggestions for things to do to celebrate:-
- eat mushrooms
- and/or po-ta-toes
- and/or fisheseseses
- have two breakfasts
- be generally lovely and compassionate, but never in awe of anyone
- drink beer (alcoholic or non-alcoholic as you prefer)
- have fun times with people you love, even when things look rough
- go on a little walk somewhere green that makes you happy
- wear a good weskit (waistcoat)
- go on an adventure, and embrace being considered a bit weird :-D

For those new Sandman fans who haven’t read the comics: Gault is an original character for the show! Replacing two others who did something similar for very different reasons.
And of all the changes made (not that there are many, tbh!), this is my favourite. I love Gault so so so much I can’t even describe it. She is beautiful and glorious and magnificent and she deserves the world. <3

SEEING FROM HIS VIOLENT DEMEANOUR THAT HE WAS ENGLISH
[may not stop laughing about this all day]

My #1 post of 2022
People can be very down here on those who only leave kudos rather than a comment on AO3. And just. I love comments, don’t get me wrong. They fill me with joy!
But getting those emails that something I wrote weeks or months or years ago has got a new kudos or two still absolutely delights me. Please don’t underestimate how wonderful and heartening that is.
Similarly, reblogs here on tumblr are the *best* and are how things get noticed and spread given the way tumblr works, but that doesn’t mean I don’t notice or am not very pleased when some thoughts or a ficlet I wrote here gets a heart too.
I know how much energy it takes sometimes to leave a comment or to reblog something. Far too much, sometimes. Far, far too much. And knowing that my efforts are appreciated even with just a click of a button... still special and good. And sometimes I’m worried that all the “don’t like, reblog!” posts on here discourage people from doing that because they feel like it’s worse to like but not reblog than to not react at all, and... no. No, really no.
To conclude: comments and reblogs are the best. But kudos and likes are still good and encouraging things! If you want to show appreciation for something I’ve written or made? Then a) thank you, how lovely of you! <3, b) please don’t be put off doing it in a way that actually works for you. <3

The horrors and atrocities that people will have to go through through the military companies and everything that fall under them are harder, more cruel, and more life threatening than finding a job not associated with those companies, so please do not make light of it or be coy about it. That's how you came off at least to me. Please, use the list provided on that post you reblogged, and resources like who profits, investigate, and the BDS list so you don't work for them. Lives are at stake.
I assume you're talking about this set of tags. I don't really think I was being coy or making light of it. And I will not be working for any of those companies. I can see how this was not clear in these tags though. Part of what I was trying to say in my post is also making it clear that the list of companies in the original chart is not actually expansive enough. I dont think any chart will ever be able to be. In my field (and a lot of other fields tbh) I will pretty much have to research any company I am applying to work for, and then hope they dont eventually get bought up by one of the murder companies/get contracts with the military/murder companies (which is a big ask). It's to the point where I am considering working in a corporate industry instead of working on renewables (or potentially working in a different country) because what I want to do is likely to be co-opted into the US military. A lot of prospective wind energy government work got absorbed into the military or raytheon/other "aerospace" companies. I was not trying to say "haha the whole economy is child murder so it's fine to work for Boeing." It is genuinely horrifying that in the USA, our economic system is directly propped up by murdering people. You can try to get further away from it but it is *everywhere*. Literally ever our hope for mitigating climate change are filtered through the military industrial complex. And yes living in the country that operates as a murder factory is less horrific than living in a place like Palestine, where they are being murdered. I can't really imagine there is a whole lot worse than what is happening in Palestine right now actually. But I wrote my tags not under a post explicitly about what is happening there, but about the US murder infrastructure. I didn't mean for that post to come off as focused on how hard it will be to get a job because I'm not really worried about that. It is about how horrifying it is that so much of my country is built around murder.

a guide on how to fall for your enemy.
synopsis: going for the throne, for the pulse that beats under your skin (or in other words, the world of academic rivals) | wc — 2.4k
[ !! ] — masterlist.
characters: ayato x gn!reader
categories: fluff + a bit of angst, modern au, tbh idk what the fuck this format is but imma say it's a one shot atp
warnings: insulting each other (bc banter is fun), my version of ayato/ooc ayato (there's no way someone is that composed all the time even when feeding someone disgusting food so ive taken matters into my own hands)
notes: "you started this thing with me, you’re ending it with me” - my piece for @bluexiao's sweet 'n spice collab with @anantaru. this fic was not the idea i originally had in mind but after letting my brain run on autopilot to write this while being head empty, it turned out to be ok
also just wrote this to spite my original style of writing bc poetic writing hates me right now and it needs to lodge itself in my brain soon before i file a divorce lol.
didn't show up in the tags the first time so we're trying this again | reblogs >>> likes
Maybe thinking twice about having a rivalry with Ayato is something that should be considered more often. Especially when it comes down to academics.
Teachers love him, and he takes great smug pride in that fact, his ego fed with every bit of small praise. So when one of them hands back his test without a word and you get the comments instead, his curiosity grows. Is it mean of him to say that you were invisible to him and probably would’ve stayed like that if this had never happened? Maybe so. But perhaps it was a fluke. While he didn’t do his best on this test, a 92% is nothing to bat an eye at so he should have nothing to worry about, right?
Wrong. Is he losing his touch with what he considered the perfect method to the top? Your great surge in grades had rumours spiral around the hallway, things like you taking his place as top of the grade, maybe even surpassing him and weaving yourself into the chair of student council president.
With a thin-lipped smile, he makes his way over to you, giving his congrats with a pat on the back that seems firmer than necessary. If anything, he could look past all of this since truth be told, it is becoming a distraction. But the mirth in your eyes and the smug, yet tense, grin on your face tells him this is no mistake, this is a proclamation of war against him.
His papers are perfectly crafted with the utmost professionalism but still holding onto that scholar charm. Projects are well thought out and thoroughly researched and yet you still seem to gain an upper hand with your “finished-one-sitting-the-night-before” papers and projects that the teachers love. Ayato will read every fine detail, eyes glued to each word as he tries to find your secret.
“Sleep deprivation and constant loads of caffeine can seem to bring out the best parts of a human sometimes.” you state with a smirk.
From there it should be known that things increased. Students, and even a few teachers, began to catch on to the situation through harsh glares in the hallway or across the class and the smug glances when test scores or big projects are handed back. Ayaka and Thoma can only sigh as he groans to them about how you’ve become insufferable to work with, even if you aren’t actually working together. Not yet at least.
The teachers who haven’t got a single clue what’s going on between the two of you are curious at what sparked the heavy rise of grades. Even in the subjects you and Ayato aren’t the best at, you’ve still somehow managed to raise your average by a noticeable amount. Perhaps Ayato has them to thank for the turn of events, but at the moment it sure didn’t feel like it.
Already most of the school year gone and a rivalry like this lasting for almost that same amount of time, it’s not wonder you both were buzzing your seats at the notice of another big project, the last one you’d be doing for this class in the year. While you both scowl at the idea of having to work in pairs for this, those deep set lines become even more imprinted onto both your faces when you find out you’re working together as assigned partners. Ayaka only sighs at her brother’s apparent woes, sternly telling him how this is his chance to apologise for starting this whole mess in the first place.
It’s amazing how you two both manage to somehow stay angry when typing in each other’s phone numbers, not trusting the other with their phone.
“If you think I’m going to let you personally type your phone number into my device, you’d be widely mistaken and I think the caffeine is starting to screw with your brain,” he says, voice level and cold.
“Likewise. But you don’t need to tell me your number. For a guy who considers himself so smart, you really didn’t think to check the grade group chat first did you?” you scoff, “It would not only save us both some time, but also my eyes from that thing you call a face.”
Yet you manage to set up a meeting place and time through gritted teeth, each of you storming away as composed as possible, not daring to look back in case you were to lock eyes.
Silence is all that can be heard at first, with the faint ticking of the library clock filling the space. Ayato buries himself in the textbook, quickly picking out the details needed for the topic at hand and swiftly writing them down. For what felt like the longest while, neither of you said a word; too busy trying to avoid the other and get the project done. He groans quietly, stretching out his back and sighing as the joints pop. Sparing a glance towards your direction, he takes into account the way your brows furrow slightly in concentration and how you bite at your lower lip. Maybe it’s his brain running on overdrive after looking at the same couple of chapters for the past hours or maybe it’s just him finally noticing things he’d never taken the time to before. He shakes his head, throwing himself back into the deep end of things and letting himself be drowned by text and small graphs, thoughts to be left for another time.
Earning a grade that would make the teachers either cry in pride or in fear, Ayato finds himself back to square one when it comes to his emotionally inept self. Although he himself thought he buried these ideas and theories deep enough to where they wouldn’t resurface, Ayato finds himself smiling sincerely more often towards your direction.
Well, as sincerely as he can be when still bitter about you being just below his title as top student.
The way the malice that his lingering glance holds when you walk by fizzles out when your back is faced towards him doesn’t go unnoticed by the two closest to him, teasing remarks thrown his way when confronted and he can only sigh in return. Distance is what he needs. A change of pace instead of constantly searching for your eyes and grin in the class when results are handed back. Yet in doing so, he couldn’t help but feel a tug that made him want to look back again just this once; not because of grades or anything school related, but to just see you.
The changes, while subtle to the outside, are noticeable to you. Insults grow to be more sly and on the flirtatious side with the coming weeks though still ecliting the same reaction from you. The lines between whether the heat you feel on the back of your neck is from anger or being flustered by his cheesy lines. Yet he’s been drifting; as if this were all just some elaborate scheme of his to prove himself worthy of whatever it is that he wants. With a faint bruise on your forehead following the effects of slamming your head against a wall repeatedly, you ready yourself to face him. In the most appropriate way possible, of course.
“Kamisato.” at the sound of his name, Ayato raises an eyebrow at your sudden appearance.
“(L/n).” walking up to stand in front of him, you stare for a second or two, making him sweat internally at your gaze. Ayato gives a shocked yelp as you pull him up by the ear, dragging him away to a more private place.
“So, mind explaining to me what that was all about or are we just goin-” gripping his collar and pulling him closer, you stare into his eyes with such determination that he can’t help but melt slightly.
“I wanted to do this rationally but when it comes to us, nothing is ever done with a clear conscience in mind.” you said.
“What-”
“Do you truly hate me?” He blinks at that comment.
Does he hate you? He definitely felt some sort of bitterness to you at first; the way you smugly spoke about your latest grade and how you held yourself infuriated him but hate? Surely not. If anything, admiration was greatly masked behind all that saltiness he carried with him at the fact that you were able to seem so carefree and rise the ranks of the grade ladder without so much thought. Maybe it was borderline, and did overlap, into envy at some point but even then, going as far as to wish ill-will on you was something he wasn’t inclined to do. You brought out a side of him he never knew he had until this whole competition started and he could never specifically hate you for it.
Perhaps all that time spent reflecting did do good for him, it made him understand what he was actually feeling and why he acted so irrationally. Perhaps that is why the answer came so naturally.
“Yes. I do hate you.” A flare of understanding and anger lit your eyes as you released him from your grip, head slightly downcast.
“As I thought,” you sigh, rubbing the back of your neck. Bidding him a farewell and a sorry, you turn to leave before he lightly takes hold of your wrist.
“Please, let me finish.”
“What else is there to say? I got the answer I was looking for.” you look towards him, Ayato’s pleading eyes meeting your gaze as you reluctantly nod.
“I hate you, (L/n). In fact, you could say I practically despise you.” He holds your wrist a little tighter, feeling you start to pull away. “But not because of some fighting over grades and the constant banter. I hate you because of the way you make me feel. I-” He drops his arm, letting go of you. The words die out on his tongue, not making a peep as he opens his mouth to try and continue. Running a hand through his hair, Ayato’s face twists into one of frustration.
“Fuck I can’t do this.” he sighs out, “Who was I kidding.”
It’s only awkward silence from there as you both stand aimlessly in the small area you had found. Ayato can’t help but groan at his own misery, the sound catching your ears which makes your jaw tense up further and fist curl. What could he possibly be whining about? He said all that there needed to be said about what was going on between the two of you; it was just some sort of silly entertainment to him.
Taking in his stance, you rub the area between your eyes, not knowing why you even care so much about this. It was bound to happen eventually anyways, drifting apart to figure out new things, so even if you knew it was coming, why did it hurt so much?
“I've had enough of this.” you mutter. You close the distance between the two of you by marching up to face him, glaring with a sharp stare and pinning him against the wall.
“Now listen here, sweetheart,” you grit out, tone dripping with honeyed sarcasm, “You’ve got guts, I’ll tell you that. Starting this whole thing with me all because of a test score. But truth be told, the banter, the teasing, it was starting to grow on me. But for the past weeks, I’ve been dealing with your avoidance and I don’t think you understand how much it actually hurts. My fault for thinking we were actually becoming friends I guess!” You jab a finger against his chest. “You started this whole thing with me, Kamisato. You’ve had your fun stringing me along with your teases. So now, you better end it with me while you can still look me in the eyes.”
One fracture led to another, a crack in the dam he had built so carefully over the past weeks to keep the barrage of feelings at bay. Yet of course it all had to spill over now,
“Me? Hurting you?” Ayato retorts, his composure finally crumbling, “This is why I can’t be friends with you! You’re so oblivious to advances that my heart couldn’t take it anymore!”
“So you avoided me instead of confronting me?”
“What else could I have done? Confessed and spilled my heart out to you while we were still at each other’s throats?” he grunted, “Oh what a wonderful idea that is.”
“And you say you’re intelligent.” you muttered, “I gave up on caring about our dispute over school work a while back. I went along with your moves because I thought that maybe, we’d get over it and actually do something. I thought you would’ve noticed when I dropped from my position.” You lean in closer to him, tugging him to you by his mangled necktie.
“Ayato. You started this whole predicament. Now get us out of it.” Your breath fanned across his nose and before he knew it, he was caught up in it.
Hesitant and longing would be the best way to describe the way his lips crashed onto yours. Your shirt all balled up in the grip of his hands as his chest buzzed and cheeks burned at the feeling, yet none of it registered as Ayato felt like the butterflies in his stomach would fly him away. The way your hand laced itself in his hair and the one on his waist had him sinking further into the sensation before you both broke apart.
Pants escaped both of your lips as you gathered your senses back. A dazed expression was soon shook from your face as you tried to smooth out your shirt and collar as best you can though Ayato just rested his head on your shoulder, stopping you from fixing it any further.
“We’ll have to talk about this more later, Kamisato,” you whisper, “Classes are about to begin soon and-” A gentle press of lips against your cheek halted your words as a sheepish and guilty smile crossed Ayato’s face.
“We can afford to miss one class,” he says, “Besides, we’re star students, aren’t we?”
The look on your faces says it all as you shake your head with a sigh.
“Fine, fine. Though one thing before we go,” He raises his head off your shoulder and leans in closer to your ear. “Call me Ayato now, would you? You did say you wanted to be closer, didn’t you?” He traces a finger along your back. “So here’s your chance, sweetheart.”

This is such a fun idea! Thank you for tagging me, @imabeautifulbutterfly, and sorry for the late reblog. Also, I'm sorry for the weird spacing. My computer freaks out when I try to fix it.
How many works do you have on AO3? - 41!
What's your total AO3 word count? - 1.2 million at the moment
What fandoms do you write for? - Actively? Star Wars, Arcane, and a few random ones as they catch my interest. I'm trying to get better about writing short bursts of fun ideas instead of getting bogged down in 100k novels.
What are your top five fics by kudos? 1. Fluffy Trooper One-Shots (collection of all of my one-shots posted here), 2. Gar Cabur, 3. Good Intentions (Arcane NSFW fic), 4. Nobody Listens to Kix, and 5. Spicy Star Wars One-Shots (collection of NSFW one-shots originally posted on my mature sideblog)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try really hard to! If I'm not busy, I prefer to be writing since I'm so far behind, but I'm trying to be better at answering comments. Especially the ones with a question or that point out specific parts of the fic!
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't really do angst, tbh. I think life is frustrating and a little sad, and I don't like my fics to be that way.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? As you can guess from the previous question, most of them! I really like happy endings. With me, if there's angst or sadness, it's not the ending yet.
Do you get hate on fics? Some of them! I wrote a novel-length Game of Thrones fic because I was so upset by the show's ending. Some people really didn't like the choices I made. But others did, and they're the ones my story was aimed at.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do! I wanted to see if I could, since I'm on the asexual spectrum. I'm not sure how to answer what kind, but in general, I write male characters and female readers. I'm thinking about branching out into same-sex relationships, but I don't know if I have the skill level to present things in the right way without coming off awkward or cringy.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I do not write crossovers. The closest I've ever come was a Deadpool fic I wrote. The Avengers made an appearance, but that's all loosely set in the same universe, so...
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of! I probably should keep a better eye on things, but I hope someone would tell me if they found my stories posted by someone else.
Have you ever had a fic translated? Again, not that I'm aware of. And I hope I would be aware! I think translation is so complex and cool that I would be super interested in the process.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, I have not. I come off a little unapproachable (definitely not on purpose). Also, my writing schedule is erratic. I think I would drive someone insane.
What's your all-time favorite ship? Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones. I'm a sucker for a reverse Beauty and the Beast situation, especially when it's focused on a hardworking but slightly plain girl. I relate a little too strongly!
What's the WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? I wrote a smutty Jareth x reader fic based on Labyrinth (1986) that I love. It has super strong fae vibes and I have a loose idea of the plot for more chapters, but I don't know if I can keep up that specific kind of creativity long enough to finish the story as I see it.
What are your writing strengths? I've been complimented on my characterization! If I want a character to have a certain type of interaction, I have to get them to a place where they could realistically have that interaction. Otherwise, I think OOC can be really distracting.
What are your writing weaknesses? Endings. Utterly, unavoidably endings. I'm terrible at them!
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I like it if you can tell from context clues what the words mean. If it's a dialogue-heavy scene in another language, I get frustrated scrolling to the bottom over and over to figure out what's happening. And if the translations are in parentheses, it can be distracting. I prefer to write endearments and easy to understand phrases in other languages, or make the reader character's confusion part of the plot.
First fandom you wrote for? Yikes. In high school, I wrote a fic based on a very formulaic romance series (the Dark series by Christine Feehan). My OC didn't fall into the typical pattern for female characters because I wanted to explore what would happen with the rest of the story as a result.
Favorite fic you've ever written? This hurts! I would have to say either Gar Cabur or Nobody Listens to Kix. NLtK was so fun and easy to write that I still think about adding to the story. And Gar Cabur was such a surprise since I knew nothing about Alpha-17, but then I couldn't get enough of him!
Tagging some people I know as being talented writers, but there is absolutely no pressure! @leotatombs @just-some-girl-92 @kimageddon
If you write and want to consider this your tag, please do! I love to hear about the thoughts that people have about their own work.
20 Questions for Fic Writers
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
23 public but I’ve archived 26 so total of 49!
2. What's your total A03 word count?
344,609
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Star Wars! Specifically the clone wars and bad batch eras
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
I Bleed the Same (M)
Evenly Trimmed (E)
Phonetic Convergence (T)
Two Years to the Day (T)

Yes! I love gushing with people who are excited about the same things that I am. Also to give my thanks for taking the time to read my works.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I guess the only one that followed canon where Wolffe makes it to where Rex and Ahsoka can’t have contact
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All of them except the above mentioned
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not that I’m aware of! I do have a secret hater from afar though hehe
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do!! And I’m not sure lol. The nothing-is-left-to-the-imagination kind? Copious use of the words cock and cunt? What do you want me to say?
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Also not that I’m aware of! ALSO ALSO! I just want to take this opportunity to say that fics that share ideas or tropes don’t count as plagiarism. Unless it’s a word for word verbatim copy, please touch grass.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! It was such a good experience and I highly recommend!!
Sheevy SithDonald’s (E)
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Rexsoka!! 💙🧡
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
All of the other longfic ideas I have lmao
16. What are your writing strengths?
I guess writing the thoughts of all characters present? Third person omniscient I believe
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing action scenes. Actually, anything that’s not romance or smut, I’m staring into the void of the google doc

hey for the noob, what's a repost? why are they bad? what's the diff btwn 'reblog' and 'repost'?
thx for explaining!
Howdy!!
I'm glad you asked!
Basically, a repost/art repost is when someone posts a piece of artwork they didn't create and then posts it on their own account, usually without crediting the original artist. This often makes it look like the person who reposted it IS the original artist, and any attention, likes, reblogs, followers, etc., all go to the reposter, instead of the artist who actually created the piece.
Example 1: I go on Pinterest and I find a piece of artwork and I go OH WOW THAT'S PRETTY I NEED TO SHOW EVERYONE I'VE EVER MET so I download the piece of art work, make a brand new tumblr post, put the art in that post, and go HEY LOOK AT THIS ART.
Example 1 is a repost.
A reblog, on the other hand, is basic Tumblr functionality in which any old blogger hits the "reblog" button and kinda..."passes forward" from the original poster. When you reblog a creator's work, they still get the notes, followers, etc. - it's still clear that they're the person who actually created the piece of artwork.
Example 2: I'm scrolling my dashboard and I see someone with username person12345 say, HEY EVERYONE I MADE AN ART DO YOU LIKE IT? And I think to myself, YES I DO, so I hit the reblog button.
Generally speaking, reposts are *highly* frowned upon and considered extremely rude. If you didn't make something yourself, don't post it unless you have express permission OR the original creator has something like "Reposts allowed" on their account (which is rare but does happen. Even an authorized repost should always have credit to the original creator attached to it; "Credit to the owner" is not credit. The reasoning is that, firstly, artists put a fuckton of work into what they create, so for someone to just take it post it somewhere else is kinda fucked (like, imagine if someone did that with a fanfic!). Secondly, a lot of artists rely on sales to their shops, commissions, etc., to get income - but when work is reposted without naming them or without linking them, they lose out on all of that.
Reposting on this website ranges from completely innocent "oh oops I didn't realize that wasn't nice" all the way through intentional attempts at theft/taking credit from original creators. If I had a nickle for every time someone called me a bitch, asshole, or crusader for suggesting they not repost, I'd be able to buy, like...dinner.
Generally speaking, posting work you DID make yourself is awesome, as is reblogging from artists who post their own work.
I could go into a LOT more about this, but tbh it'd kinda be reinventing the wheel. Instead, lemme grab some existing resources that can add more information to this, if you want to know more.
@dont-repost-art is a cool account dedicated to spreading information about why reposting is bad. It's not really active anymore but if you just scroll through what they've reblogged in the past you'll still get some good info.
How to Spot Art Reposts: a long post I wrote a bit ago, discussing art reposting, why it's bad, and how to recognize signs that piece might be a repost, with an emphasis on danmei fandoms on Tumblr.
Flow Chart: Can I Post This Fanart?
Really everything in the tumblr search "art reposting" which is full of artists being upset about people reposting their work....kinda says it all
FINAL NOTE: When an artist says "do not repost" they do NOT mean "do not reblog." Please, please reblog artist work, if you like it. Creators are what make this site so amazing, and when their work doesn't get much love, creators get discouraged and don't want to keep creating. When people steal their work without crediting them, they don't want to keep creating. When people treat them like art-producing machines, they don't want to keep creating. NOT reposting, and ACTIVELY reblogging (with a healthy side dose of "saying nice things in the tags") is a great, small, easy way that every single fan on this site can help creators fell all warm and happy and like they should keep making things.
Hope this helps!

Tumblr Writer Q&A
Thanks for the tag @leslie-lyman 😘
1) How many complete fics/one shots do you have that you have not published (yet)? 3, I think. 2 BtR oneshots (one that will likely never see the light of day) and the next chapter of HTKAI.
2) How many WIPS do you have right now? 2 series (HTKAI, and the jazz lounge AU), 5ish unfinished one-shots in varying degrees of complete-ness.
3) Do you take writing requests or write original ideas, or both? I like both! I like that requests often take me somewhere new. Like, someone asked me to continue Judo!Dave where I never planned to, and the result was something that I really liked. Same with the period and pregnancy sex asks for Marcus. Never planned on writing them, really glad I did.
4) If you do take requests, how many do you currently have? I actually don't have any. Which is fine. I don't want to be overwhelmed. But I am open to them! :)
5) How many fandoms do you write for? Just Pedro stuff (and most of that is Marcus Pike lmao).
6) Are there any fandoms you wrote for in the past that you no longer write for? I've never written a single thing before I made the decision to start writing Born to Run in September of 2020. (But I've been reading fic since 2007 or so.)
7) Do you write for ships, reader inserts or other? I'm open to writing just about anything! Everything I've written so far is either a reader insert or a named OC, depending on the flow of the story. I'm open to writing "real" ships from the show, just nothing has popped in my head for that just yet.
8) Niche fandoms/characters you write for? Is my obsession with Marcus Pike niche?
9) Do you read fics as well as write them? Are you kidding me? Not a day goes by where I don’t read fic. <-just leaving Leslie's answer because girl SAME
10) What is your favorite genre to write for? Romance or angst with a happy ending.
11) What is your favorite trope (to read/write)? I mean I'll read almost ANYTHING tbh. Even if it's not always my jam, I'll read it. I'm not a huge fan of a/b/o but I WILL read it because hey, why not? So as far as reading, anything goes. To write? I like meet-cutes, I like hurt/comfort, I like a bit of angst. I'm always including some sort of D/s dynamic, is that a trope? I dunno. I'm still kind of "learning" to write.
12) What do you do to get motivated to write? Reading or watching the source material. Reading other people’s fic or seeing other people’s fanart. People reblogging/commenting on/being supportive of my writing! <-once again, Leslie's answer is exactly mine. Someone leaves a comment I DIE. And then I rush to go write some more. ;)
13) Is there a trope/genre you like to read, but not write? I like reading threesomes/foursomes but I'm honestly intimidated by it because that's a lot of people to keep track of as you write? I read a/b/o occasionally but I'll probably never write one of my own. I also read a fair share of darker fics (dark Dave helloooooo!) but I'm a big softie and probably wouldn't do a good job of writing my own. :)
14) Any characters/fandoms you want to write for that are never requested? I'm open to writing for anyone, although I'll say I'm a bit intimidated to write for anyone I haven't written for yet. Which is most of the Pedro boys. I'll get there!
15) How long have you been writing fanfiction? About 6 months. HAHAHA.
16) Did you read fan fiction before you started writing? I started reading Harry Potter fanfiction in early college. That was.... almost 15 years ago. So yes.
17) Do you only post on Tumblr, or any other sites as well? I cross-post just about everything on AO3.
18) What do you personally consider the word counts of “Drabble”, “One shots” and “fics”? I feel like a drabble is 1k or less. 1k is a LONG drabble. Lol. One-shot is anything with one chapter, regardless of whether that chapter is 1k or 20k. It's not about the length to me as much as it is about being one digestible story with a conclusion. Fic is... a general term for fanfiction? For multichapter fics, I'd call that a 'series.'
19) Which do you prefer to write more? HC, drabbles, oneshots/fics, multi chapter stories, other? I cannot be brief to save my life, so HCs and drabbles are not my strength. I've done quite a few one-shots but I keep coming up with multi-chapter story ideas.
20) Are there any stories you have discontinued? If so, why? I'm not ENTIRELY sure if my jazz lounge AU, "The Bad Oboe," will ever see the light of day. I just am not all that passionate about it anymore, I wasn't entirely sure where it was going, and it's been sitting in my drafts for so long that I'm not sure I can pick up that momentum any more. Also it was from the EARLY days of me writing and I feel like I've moved past it a bit.
21) What is one of your main “pet-peeves” as a writer on Tumblr? Anonymous hate, for sure. Why on earth....?
22) Do you write a particular time of day? I'm the world's worst employee and I write when I'm supposed to be working.
23) Do you listen to music, ambiance/noise, etc to write or do you need silence? I almost always write in silence.
24) Do you outline your fics at all before writing? NO, LOL. It starts as a chaotic mess, and then I usually am forced to come up with some sort of outline after I've written several chapters and realize I have no idea what's happening next. Even then, it's BARELY outlined. HTKAI is BARELY planned out, especially the flashbacks. They just kind of happen as I write. Who's Marcus gonna meet in this time period? Er, I'll let you know when I know! BtR ended up being more outlined, because there was a specific timeline with like, training highlights that I was trying to hit and I was basing reader's running schedule after the marathon training plan that I use.
25) Do you post your writing as soon as you finish it, or do you schedule it to come out at a specific time/day? I sit on it and re-read it until the words lose all meaning and I hate it. LOL. Part of this is because I do not like posting multi-chapter fics unless the next chapter is already mostly written. I did this with BtR in a big way. I wrote like 6 chapters in one week and still staggered the updates so by the time I posted the epilogue, it had been sitting, completed, for a month or so. Likewise, with HTKAI, I didn't post chapter 4 until I was mostly done with chapter 5. I'll post chapter 5 when I have a bit more of chapter 6. I don't know why I'm like this.
I have no idea who's been tagged in this already but @mandocrasis@radiowallet @honestly-shite and whoever else sees this and wants to do it!

This is a post I really want to make, but also one I’m not entirely sure how to articulate. Gonna try anyway, and I guess we’ll see how it goes :P
I just want to express how much it means to me that the story I wrote about Moshe the Rabbit means a lot to so many people. I mean, as of now, it has over 300 notes, and I’ve been reading all the tags and reblogged comments and everything and it’s just-I’m kinda in awe of it?
tbh when I posted it, I fully expected it to maaaybe get a few notes from mutuals who like my writing and not much more. I mean, I’ve been writing/posting fics long enough to pick up on the trends, and I’m aware that original fic doesn’t generally get much (I’ve long since made peace with that, for what it’s worth).
So, for not only a piece of my writing, but a piece of my writing written in part, to reach back and touch the Jewish children’s books I remember from when I was a kid, written to try and connect the person seeking a career as an illustrator I’m becoming and the person I’ve been who’s struggled with how exactly they can define themself as a Jewish person, to be the story that gets a greater response, it just means a lot (and also an emotion that’s really hard to describe).
Like, yes I wrote the story bc I saw a post and thought the idea was really cute, but I also wrote it bc doing so felt like puzzles pieces fitting into place. Like answering the questions, ‘how can I be Jewish? Can I explicitly intertwine Jewishness with a huge part of my identity that I put a lot of importance in (being a content creator)’, with ‘yes, yes it’s possible. The words will come and you’ll name characters after well-known people from holiday stories (and then come up with narrative reasons for it a moment later), and it’ll be fun and wonderful. It’ll be that feeling you got when, in one of your classes, you learned quite a few illustrators you’re studying were/are Jewish, and, sure, it’s only really mentioned in passing, but each time it sparks something indescribable in you, igniting into something more. It’ll be feeling like a path opens up in front of you, but one that reaches a part of you you’ve struggled to know what to do with, touches it, and tells it, ‘you’re coming along too’.
It’s that for two days. And then it’s warm fuzzies and a smile when a mutual enjoys the resulting story too. And a bit of shock after that when a much larger blog than yours reblogs it, and then even more when others (some of which you admire greatly), find it and love it too.
It’ll be the realization that the person I’m determined to become can also still be Jewish. That maybe I don’t have to fit into some prescribed version of ‘a Jewish Person’. I can define it myself perhaps, and it can fit who I am too, and, as that person, I can be accepted.
So yeah, here’s a long (somewhat sappy) post on my feelings.
*jazz hands*
#very personal post that i'm not sure i should share#but i've been carrying around this feeling for a few days now#and idk i just want to put out there how much a completely unexpected rabbit has come to mean to me#definitely did not see this as the way i end 2021 let me tell you#moshe rabbit catchall tag
