i think a fun way to do that would be to leave an ask saying that and then reblog if/when they respond. then it has a bit of their character thrown in too
people should be able to leave replies to someone's entire blog. i'd love to see or write comments like "this is my new favorite blog" or "this blog has the vibe of an old wise guru sitting in an ancient cave living entirely off of water from dripstones and she's 120 years old and no scientist can explain how she's still alive"

Chloe: Don't be absurd Zoe, parents don't love their children, they ignore them, hate them, use the or throw them away.
Several voices: That isn't true!
Chloe: Adrien and Kagami's parents used them, for fame, for profit, for a successor and business alliances. Felix's dad hated him and his mom lives vicariously through him. Roger-
Sabrina: My dad loves me!
Chloe: Your dad, used you to suck up to my dad through me. (Looks at Zoe) Mother hates us, Andre used me up and threw me away and he'll do the same to you once he gets bored or needs a scapegoat. (Claps hands) End of story, end of discussion.
Marinette: None of tat is true, well most of it isn't and you're still wrong my parents-
Chloe: AAAAAHH!!! You are skilled socialite designer and chef! You assist them with their business! You are useful and so you are loved!
Marinette: ... Everything I learn about you just makes... Everything you are make so much more sense.
Note:
The ending is more meta than this really should be and Chloe's wrong about some of this, but on the money for a lot of this.
Eheheh chloe isn't totally wrong but she did made sure to pick all the people with the worst parents and bended the truth a bit with marinette's parents even if according to some salters they sucks even more than andre and audrey but we don't talk about that.
But yeah if you take your time to think about it chloe behaviour make a lot of sense!!!!!!!

BMFBMLBME Chapter 26
It had taken an unfortunate amount of time for Lila’s crimes to be discovered but, they had been revealed.
And now they were left with the fallout.
M. Damocles had decided to give the class the rest of the day in the room. He’d pardoned them from any work for the rest of the day and let the rest of the teachers know not to disturb them.
They were all victims of Lila and he had felt it best that they have as much time as possible to sort through what happened to them together.
There had been many tears.
Tears, shouts, curses, promises for revenge.
When Lila had been taken away with the power inhibitors her abilities had been cut off entirely, even the lingering magic.
Everyone’s minds were clearing, the lies becoming more obvious, the torment they had subjected Marinette to more painful.
No one was okay.
It wasn’t their faults. They had been under the control of Lila’s powers.
That didn’t make them feel better though.
It had been their words that attacked Marinette, their hands that stole and hid her belongings, their feet they turned and walked away when she needed them most.
At the base of everything, it had still been them.
They had betrayed Marinette.
Nothing Chloe said could convince them otherwise.
Her swears that Marinette would forgive them had only made the class cry harder.
It had been a very long day.
And now, they were still together. Walking out of the school and marching towards the Dupain-Cheng bakery.
They were going to tell them everything and beg for forgiveness for what they did to their daughter.
Chloe was the first to walk inside, noting how hard Sabine tried to smile at her.
Noticing just how much concealer she had used in an attempt to hide the dark circles from under her eyes.
“Hello, dear. It’s nice to see you.” Sabine said softly, eyes focused on Chloe.
“Hello, Madam Cheng.” Chloe replied softly, walking further into the bakery and letting the rest of her classmates follow her inside.
Sabine’s eyes widened as everyone pilled in, Sabrina flipping the closed sign on the door so no one would walk in during the conversation.
“What is this?” Sabine asked, curiously, but not suspiciously.
That only made everything harder.
“Madam Cheng. We- We really need to talk to you and Monsieur Tom.” Adrien said, rubbing his arm.
Sabine looked at them all cautiously, sensing the somber mood.
“Tom!” She called out, never taking her eyes off the kids. “Come here, please.”
It hadn’t been an easy conversation; more tears had been shed during the explanation.
How Marinette had been targeted by a serial killer, how she had been a meta and used her abilities to hypnotize the class into betraying Marinette.
How sorry they were and how they knew it didn’t change anything, but they really were sorry.
The tears only got worse when Sabine and Tom took to hugging everyone, reassuring them that they were victims too, just as much as their daughter had been.
How they forgave them for what they did and how they knew Marinette would too, if she knew what happened.
No one left dry-eyed. No one left alone.
Parents came all the way to the bakery to pick up their children, taking their own and a few others with them to drop them off on their ways home.
No one wanted to be alone in the light of what happened.
There was comfort, in having the others nearby.
To know they weren’t alone in what happened.
They felt horrible, for what they did.
But, worse than that; they felt dirty.
Their minds had been taken control of, manipulated to do Lila’s bidding.
Their bodies had been stolen from them, used to hurt their friend, to make them do things they would never do otherwise.
They had been violated in a way they hadn’t known was possible.
And they didn’t know how to move past it, how to heal.
The reveal of what Lila had been doing had opened up several other investigations in order to determine just how many people she had manipulated.
Everyone who had ever interacted with her was spoken to, classmates, relatives, co-workers. Everyone was alerted to what she had done.
It didn’t take long for word to spread outside of the school.
Outside of Paris, France.
It took three days for the news to reach the internet.

Alright, time for some Off-Type Clears!  Because man, I do enjoy doing the F2P clears sometimes, but also I miss using some of my favorites that have been sidelined.
Vs. Hala Champion Iris has been on the bench for a long time in CS, and it's a shame.  5/5 grid when?  Anyway, I opted for C!Elesa who is the eternal best partner for her, and Variety Lorelei, whose offensive buffs perfectly complement Iris'.  Gotta get the Lorelei value in somehow to justify spending on the low-effort alt.  The main struggle here was Iris hitting crit on sync.  She missed it three times out of five runs.  THREE!  It's an 80%!  Anyway.  The other failure was my own fault, I got greedy with gauge and Iris couldn't queue up a move so we fell behind the sync requirement, and Hala's sync is Ice, so it dropped Elesa too.  The next round went better.  Iris still nukes for like infinity billion damage.  Slightly related, but I'm still considering giving her Defense Crush as a lucky skill.  I'm holding off only because I'm really, really hopeful that her grid expansion packs it.  It's like the only thing aside from Power Play and Aggravation I could see benefiting her.
Vs. Olivia My girl Caitlin is so good.  It turns out, the Lucian combo actually does work spectacularly.  His debuffs are perfectly aligned to this comp, with SC Jasmine buffing up special defense, and attack drops keeping her alive against a physical damage dealer.  Caitlin herself just trucks the center, ending on a big explosion.  I do let SC Jasmine take first sync, and we just happened to get the quad queue, so I don't know how well they'd take Olivia's sync.  Also, important note: you might think that, with speed buffs, Jasmine can use Flash Cannon here for guaranteed debuffs if needed.  That's the devil talking.  The gauge isn't that good, even at +6.  Also Absorb recoups a lost gauge which is far more ideal for Caitlin specifically.  Also yes I know this team is filled with redundancy but let me live.
Vs. Kahili I am pissed on Lusamine's behalf, which means now it's everyone's problem.  I opted to bring in Sabrina as the tank, because the condition was permanent field effects, and I figured hey, Sabrina sets Reflect, which boosts speed.  This is an ideal outcome that will in no way harm me.  Spoilers: it harmed me.  Sabrina is not a good physical tank.  Bianca has also finally bitten the bullet.  I gave her Head Start.  At this point, there's no reason not to anymore.  Also we were having legitimate trouble getting the clear without it, so like...I'm calling it an essential change.
Vs. Acerola Now that Zinnia is 3/5, I wanted to see how she did.  Turns out, pretty good.  I will say, this particular team is really nice.  Masked Royal has a lot of benefit with Brutal Swing, kicking off Calem's Buddy move a bit quicker and debuffing defense.  Zinnia herself is just hilarious.  I still can't get over the +3 to all stats condition getting immediately blasted by an AoE Snatch attack with a 70% chance to just flinch everyone.  The sickest part is her sync, which wasn't even full investment, hit for like 35k.  Comparable damage to Iris.  Like okay.  Sure.
Vs. Kukui My girls have languished.  I haven't run this team in a long time, and now they'll be brought out for the 12.5k meta.  And you may be wondering, how'd they do?  Well, it turns out that Lillie could two-shot the sides after Caitlin's sync.  So a double denial, which is hysterical.  Now, the first attempt failed.  Because I forgot, Cynthia's sync is physical, and I had physical damage reduction on so Lillie could hit as hard as possible.  So Cynthia's sync bounced off him for like 7k and then we just didn't recover from that.  His sync is a sure KO against Cynthia, even if you cap defense.  However on the second attempt, sync still happens to us because i still didn't take off physical damage reduction because I didn't leave the fight and hit retry and decided to just let Lillie sync. Turns out she could handle it.  Once again, Healthy Benefits 5 paying off.  And this all got to be with permanent field effects, which is great for H!Caitlin.  You basically just get everything.
Final Thoughts Alola was the last of the old school CS regions, before Sinnoh showed up with the insanity of Entry x2 skills and all that.  As a result, I feel like it's a good middle of the road region.  There's some tough stuff, but nothing outrageous.  This week in particular didn't feel too bad, nothing was all that unreasonable to handle.  But still, I had fun.  I miss using my favorites.  I've gotten too invested in F2P clears, I'm doing off-type for a while.

There are many things that I believe CAOS didn't properly think through... However, Part 4's The Uninvited (episode) truly sparks some anger in me for the simple matter of how they portrayed Mrs Anderson's (and possibly Lucy Anderson's?) demise.
Just to start: I don't dislike the idea of The Uninvited as a character/concept. I think that The Uninvited could have been an interesting look at how shallow certain characters are in Greendale and how they value appearances. Or even a further commentary on small-town courtesy politics.
In the case of Mrs Anderson and Lucy, even Mrs Anderson is depicted to be shallow in some way for refusing to let The Uninvited into her home on account of his appeance. It's how it comes across in reviews of the episode, at least. Expanding on the "heartless" narrative of the character.
However, even if Mrs Anderson is being shallow in terms of appearance... I can't blame her in any way or form for turning The Uninvited away. She appears to be a single mother with a young child inside the home. If it were me in her position, appearances aside, I wouldn't think to let a strange man into my home for any reason. Especially one who looked like they could out-muscle or manouver me. Actually... unless there were some truly extenuating circumstances, I wouldn't let a stranger into my home at all. Especially if I had a child inside.
I feel like this matter isn't addressed, as they talk about it in-universe as being a "heartless" action (at least in terms of the Eldritch Mythos.) And I think that's a gross diservice. Mrs Anderson performs a culturally acceptable, smart, self-preserving action.
And is the message being sent "women should let strange men into their homes"?
I know that The Uninvited is an antagonist and I know it's not as if the show-writers are endorsing letting strangers waltz into your home and I understand that horror is the genre...
It just felt like such a discordant event and message, considering the themes that the show claims to project about women's empowerment. It also feeds a bit into the discussion about how the younger women of the show are empowered while the older women of the cast suffer various and continuous traumas and violations of their agency, no matter what #girlboss title they hold.
** This is by no means a comprehensive deep dive or essay. Merely a ramble about the show. If you disagree, that's entirely fine 👍 I've just been thinking about this since P4 came out and as I rewatch or reabsorb material in an attempt to finish some projects, I felt the need to share.

Whaddup, it’s your girl here with more Hartin Family HCs thought up by me at like 3 am (I also decided to type it up at 3 am so i apologize for mistakes and if feels incoherent/rambly). This post is definitely for Jesse (@angrypunchguy) and Jesse only cause he inspired me but literally. I can’t believe I’ve never given any member of the Hartin family a cat until now cause it’s SO them but anyway
- it’s one of those really fluffy long-haired cats, all black
- as a side note, I always wanted to give Char the exact same cat in this universe so she and Izzy definitely bond over the fact that their cats are twinsies
- It’s the pet Izzy gets after Steve is gone
- Izzy kinda wants to name them Felix just to screw with her brother cause Felix the Cat; even though it’s technically Izzy’s cat, Felix wants to name her Salem because he has a whole collection of comic books that feature Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Izzy’s still mad about the Salem Witch Trials so she won’t allow it
- They both finally settle on the name Eclipse
- Eclipse definitely bonds with Henry first because he was the only one that didn’t really want her at first (not that he’s against cats specifically; actually he would’ve preferred a cat over any of the other animals they acquired over the years, but he didn’t really want any other pets because he’s the one that ends up having to take care of them)
- (Felix is better about sharing the responsibility than Izzy, but during those times when he’s nowhere to be found and it’s time to walk Daisy (felix’s golden retriever), Zack always conveniently has something else he totally forgot to do that needs to be done right away so the responsibility falls to Henry)(and Henry wouldn’t even ask Zack to help with anything involving Steve considering Zack can barely be in the same room)
- (although, when their kids are old enough where they can be left alone for a few minutes, Zack will take Daisy for a walk but only if it becomes a couple’s activity and Henry goes with him)
- (actually, Zack didn’t want another pet either but that’s entirely because he didn’t think he could handle another arachnid in the house, or anything that could be classified as a bug aldsjkf But, Izzy knows he can’t handle tears so she definitely used that to her advantage and once he learned she wanted a cat he was totally on board anyway and he helped convince Hen) (but this HC list is getting away from me alkdsjf)
- anyway, she bonds with Hen at first and she definitely talks to him. As long as he looks at her when he speaks, she’ll respond no matter what he says. She’ll talk to the others too, but only sometimes; Henry, all the time.
- There’s definitely been more than one occasion when Zack’s walked in on them and just been like “are you having conversations with the cat again?” “........no.”
- “sometimes I think you talk to that cat more then you talk to me” Henry, deadpan but entirely joking: “she’s a better conversationalist than you”
- and even though Henry didn’t really want her at first, she still gets toys at Christmas every year, they end up with one of those big cat trees in their living room, and he gets her one of those beds you can stick in the window
- This is definitely Jesse’s idea, but Felix and Izzy get her a pink, sparkly collar with a little bell on it
- Ofc she’s afraid of Daisy at first, but she warms up to her after a short while and it gets to the point where she uses Daisy as a bed on occasion
- After a little begging from Izzy, Zack agrees to make Eclipse a bed that’s an exact replica of Izzy’s
- It becomes a part of Eclipse’s routine to curl up in it when Izzy retires for the night (but she’ll divide her time between her bed and sleeping with Izzy on Izzy’s bed)
- Izzy and Fe get her one those harnesses to try to train her to take walks
- it does not end well
 - it becomes a family group project (taking place over several months because they can only afford so many supplies at a time alkdjf) to build her a little sanctuary/playpen type thing in the backyard; Izzy and Felix tell Henry what they want it to have, he turns it into something that’s actually conceivable asdaslkdf and gives it to Zack, where Zack does most of the actual building
- It does turn into an opportunity for him to teach Izzy and Fe a thing or two though
- and Zack has to keep Henry from giving her the whole backyard instead of just half
- also, this is sort of Jesse’s idea too, but she always lays on Izzy’s and Felix’s desks when they’re doing homework or Fe is playing a game. She’s messed up more than one of his games by laying directly on the controller or keyboard

Sarah Rees Brennan posted a Path Of Night deleted scene on Instagram that ended with Sabrina thinking the line, “I could make everything right. If I only had all the power in the world.” And that line is way more insightful to me as to Sabrina’s P3 mindset then anything P3 gave me.
Kiernan has said in past interviews that Sabrina is a “fixer” and that’s clear from all three parts of the show; Sabrina brings back Tommy for Harvey, she restores Roz’s sight, helps Theo with his bullies (which they both regret), and tries to help Nick with his post-possession trauma. But I’ve talked quite a bit how her actions in P3 seem to shift to more of a selfish lean, and there’s this fascinating meta about how Sabrina seems to view people as objects- her favorite teacher who she doesn’t seem to give a shit about, her boyfriend who’s sacrifice she negates in joining Satan.
But this line, “I could make everything right. If I only had all the power in the world.” reminds me so much of Anakin Skywalker. Anakin is failed by the Jedi Order (why the Jedi Order is a fucked up although well meaning organization is a long post in and of itself) and embraces the Dark Side because he believes it will give him the power to protect those he cares about. His choices are wrong and hurt everyone around him, but the motivation behind his actions come from a misguided attempt to fix things.
Anyway, I hope P4 adopts a narrative similar to this, using Sabrina’s choices to show that power corrupts or something like that, instead of the doing-what-you-want-everyone-else-be-literally-damned-is-feminism thing they’ve got going rn.

Deep in my Lilith feels again. (I just vacillate wildly between my Mary feels and my Lilith feels, with frequent detours for Zelda.)
If the Mark of Cain was something applied to Cain by the False God to prevent him from being killed as he wandered the world in punishment, as it is in the source material, Lilith being able to give the Mark of Cain provides support to the idea that she stole celestial power and fled the Garden, rather than being cast out (though I'm sure Adam 1.0 and the dictate that she submit to him was the motivating factor for her need to get out). Because being able to cast what amounts to an unbreakable protection spell at the drop of a hat is pretty above and beyond your regular witchcraft, unless it does come with a heinous curse attached.
But what if she doesn't know? Or doesn't remember? Like Lucifer took the memory of her power (like he convinced witches he was the source of theirs) from her so she would serve him without question. And then, millennia later, the Kings convinced her not only did she not have the right to the throne, she couldn't hold the throne due to not being the right type of metaphysical being. But she can. The realms weren't destabilizing, they were changing, because she's a different ruler, a less evil ruler than Lucifer, and we would have ended up with a true Underworld or Sheol, rather than Hell.
I also have some rambling thoughts about how there's one story where Cain is the child of Eve and Samael, who's also the serpent, instead of Eve and Adam. But then I'm very partial to Lilith as the serpent, visiting Eve in the Garden and offering her knowledge. So (by combining these wildly disparate sources) the thought of Cain as Lilith's first child did cross my mind, but I'm absolutely not going to incorporate that into a headcanon.
Something that was a headcanon of mine prior to part 3, mostly based on the existence of the Cain Pit and witches' marks, was that Cain (as the son of Adam and Eve) was the first warlock. Sometimes Eve is also a witch in this, having become one upon eating the apple and accepting the knowledge (of witchcraft, among other things) from Lilith.
I'm all for explainations of their powers that make them innate or just don't come from Lucifer, because that's some nonsense. I know we have a whole new set of mythology for it with the pagans and triple goddess and other types of magic, but it's honestly not coherent enough for me to touch yet.

imagine if constance blackwood didn’t hate the weird sisters, but thought they were blackwood’s daughters and cared for them because she knew he was a... and i quote in her words : voracious slut. imagine her being the parent figure the girls wanted so none of them had to seek approval of a man. but instead they decided to make her hate prudence enough that it built up her ego to think she was chosen as the queen of feasts only to have it destroyed and ripped from her hands and probably go back to thinking she was worthless and wow my dad has been here the whole time and he didn’t want me?

Somehow, I can tell who wrote the script for ‘Derision’...
...The latest leaked script for the bastion of security which is Miraculous Ladybug.
I’ll spare you the predictable scenes set in flashback where Chloe (with the help of that gullible lug Kim and willing assistant Sabrina) covers everyone’s favorite blunette in spiders (didn’t Zoe get cockroaches put in her locker too? WTF is it with this show which considers insects the epitome of bullying?) and covers her ass with green paint (hey, it could’ve been worst! It could’ve been gum... oh.)
The part where it REALLY shows Mr Astruc’s handiwork and how he’s far more manipulative than even Chloe could ever hope to be, stands out in this particular shining moment...
Tumblr media
1. WTF is ‘Rosita’? Is this the Mexican dub, or something?
2. OOH THOMAS YOU SO META WITH YOUR BLATANT EXPOSITION!! But really, you’re using an argument against Chloe fans rivalled only in its disingenuousness by its pure straw man...ibility.
My beef with you regarding Chloe’s development isn’t ‘E-v-i-l people using bad parental treatment as an excuse for their misdeeds’ and more ‘Leading us on a wild goose chase with HOURS of episodes showing Chloe growing both as a person and a superhero, only to abandon all that suddenly to turn her into a wannabe terrorist and psychopath overnight’. Check out TV Tropes. Alpha Bitches do not generally turn from Lovable Alpha Bitches to Complete Monsters in the space of one episode, do they? (Unless of course, you want us all to kneel at the altar of that vast expanse of blandness known as Zoe, but that’s another story...)
Ways it could’ve been done better: SHOW us during S1 and S2 that Chloe is capable of the mindless thuggery we’ve seen of her more recently. If you’re going to show her pull a Heel-Heel-Face-Turn, do it GRADUALLY in a realistic fashion, don’t just dump it all at the end of S3 by pretending her budding development never happened. And if Zoe was REALLY ‘the true holder of the Bee Miraculous’, how come her name was never even mentioned until the early parts of S4?! I think we’re talking about less of a character here, and more of a placeholder introduced to take on Chloe’s role as a hero because you don’t like her. (Zoe getting Pollen after one-and-a-half episodes was ‘utterly ridiculous’ too, as will be her becoming Chat Noir briefly in a future show(!) But again., that’s a discussion for another time.)
Basically Mr A, you can heap as many humiliating ‘punishments’ upon Chloe as much as you want. Mutilate her once-halfway-complex and potential-filled personality by increasingly marking her as one-dimensionally e-v-i-l to your heart’s content. Insert as much clunky dialogue from the mouths of other characters to get back at your ‘haterz’ if it makes you feel better. Even set entire episodes set in the past designed to make people hate her as much as you do... hey, it’s your show!
But don’t try to pretend any of this was planned. Along with the reasons given above, I don’t think if all this was intended from the beginning, such a MEGA surplus of Queen Bee and Chloe toys would’ve been released... if they always intended her to be one of the most despised characters. It was all done because one man’s blind hatred of a fictional teenager hi-jacked the plot and derailed it from what it could’ve been. At one point at the end of S2, things were ticking along quite nicely. Then YOU got much more heavily involved in the show’s writing... and the rest, as they say, is history.
And no, I am NOT devaluing Marinette’s in-story bullying. I’m more criticizing Thomas’s shameless weaponizing of it to turn this episode into yet ANOTHER stick to beat Chloe with. It disgusts me more and more, to see him paint (pun not intended) a young child as some kind of irredeemable hellspawn incarnate to prop up the kudos of the stereotypically ‘nice’ girl characters around her. Sorry... Marinette, Mylene, Rose and ESPECIALLY Zoe. You’re just boring. CHLOE FAN FOREVER!! :D
So, to conclude... my main reaction to Derision... is complete and utter derision. Just not in the way they intended... ;)
(Someone just left a comment pointing out Mylene’s mother abandoned her. Figures only Thomas would use a side character’s misery as yet ANOTHER excuse to get back at Miss Bourgeois. What’s the betting that this now canonical detail was only put in to denigrate Chloe more? After all, he introduced an entire character for this very purpose, so I wouldn’t put ANYTHING past him now...) :p

Tell me more about the Archie's Weird Fantasy long con puzzle because I'm having thoughts.
ah okay so it’s not so much an established Thing as the jarchie longcon (which i do not even know if that’s a Thing outside of a handful of bloggers on this webbed site) but like. the existence of archie’s weird fantasy is PART of the jarchie longcon to me, because it is related to archie being gay and also the allusion to it in tales from the darkside.
and for context if u or anybody reading this is unfamiliar: archie’s weird fantasy is a play roberto aguirre-sacasa wrote in 2004(?) about archie andrews moving to new york city and coming out as gay, and there’s a lot of weird stuff going on with time and reality i guess. and among other things he moves in with real life historical gay murders Leopold and Loeb, starts to realize that he is a comic book character, and i believe ends up w it h jimmy olsen from superman. and RAS got a cease and desist and changed all the characters names the night of the premiere and now he is CCO of archie comics so like. he obviously has a longtime interest in exploring weird and meta stories with these characters and he’s still doing it with riverdale as well as chilling adventures of sabrina and the rest of the archie horror imprint.
so anyway the play gets kind of referenced when jughead talks about his dream of moving to new york with archie in tales from the darkside. and then there’s leopold and loeb detention center which just. seems to be a deliberate choice/reference because of RAS’s history, and to me it kind of cements the idea that other nods/similarities to the play are also intentional. and then in season 6 we get riverdale and jughead literally discovering he is part of a comic book and all that so like. when i say archie’s weird fantasy longcon i guess what i mean is i think there is a long term goal with riverdale to tell a similar story to archie’s weird fantasy, or more accurately for the show to eventually culminate in something weird and meta in a way that is like the play.
also while we’re at it another piece of the jarchie longcon puzzle to me is that in glee season 6, a character makes a comment about guys who “write archie fanfiction where archie and jughead have the hots for each other” which is a pretty obvious dig at former glee writer roberto aguirre sacasa who built an entire career off of writing archie fanfiction. so like even though archie’s weird fantasy doesn’t pair him with jughead it kind of implies that he was specifically interested in jarchie enough that he annoyed the other glee writers by talking about it. or perhaps they just wrote jughead in the line bc he’s the most recognizable name to use lmao

I wanted to try Psychic-focused clear, and if the choices made are any indication, I am an idiot.
General Overview I tend to invest very heavily into Psychic types. It is my favorite type, after all. So with Meloetta and another way to really push Psychic-type damage, I figured this would be a good chance to take a look at clearing an all-Psychic CS. Especially since one stage had a Psychic weakness, so there's at least one safe pick.
As you may be able to tell, though, I am a moron. No NC Bede? No SS Dawn? What was I doing? Apparently I just forgot how many Psychic supports actually exist, and how many of them are legitimately good. Decisively better situation than Fire and Electric based on recent High Score shenanigans, I'd say. We also managed to avoid using all the Psychic offensive pairs. No Giovanni, and somehow no Olympia. Kinda crazy.
That said, Psychic still has some pretty severe troubles, as we'll get in to shortly. Interestingly on the offensive side. It has some alright options, but they're not exactly stellar either, in their own ways. There's some talk on Reddit about "Would Sinnoh NCs be Lake Trio?" and how we already have three Psychic Master Fair pairs, so it's not all that exciting an option, but also listen. Psychic deserves that.
Vs. Hala In my head, this was meant to be about Reflect curbing damage so Lusamine and Lana could slap things apart. This, however, ran into numerous issues. First, off-type, with a field effect in play? Sabrina folds really easily, even with Reflect up. It's super embarrassing. The other, much more substantial issue is that Psychic lacks for good single-target damage. Lana and Lusamine have great 3v3 pressure, they easily remove sides. But their damage to center is often severely lacking, which creates massive problems in the endgame. Truth be told, this wouldn't be such a huge issue if Lusamine didn't lock a major sync multiplier to on-type. But because she did, her nuke often lacks presence. Eventually, the Support EX Role will salvage a lot for her, but it's a similar case to Anni Lillie, where the limitations foisted upon her at the time are coming back to haunt her, and nothing short of a grid expansion is going to salvage it.
Vs. Olivia SS Steven is largely considered better SS Lusamine, because he has an explosive sync roughly twice as strong as hers, that also gets AoE, and better single-target damage, with Protect to halve sync damage for a reliable save. So people are correct. The problem is that this sometimes makes me think he's roughly invincible, when gauges are a massive problem for him as much as with Lusamine. I also used a stupid core. I wanted the flinch rate to save us, and it definitely did, but not as reliably as you'd hope. Still, a win's a win, I suppose.
Vs. Acerola Off-type 3k meta has officially pushed offensive parameters far enough that even at -6 in both offenses, their sync will OHKO the entire team. Absolutely outrageous. Mesprit's Reflect turns it into a clean survive, but the finisher against the sides is questionable. It's a blessing it's a single-target attack from Mimikyu, but it's rough. Two single-target options also doesn't do the best work overall. I had to be really careful with how May used her attacks to get things where I wanted them.
Vs. Kahili The on-type fight. Will hit zero flinches with his 60% rate. Absolute clown behavior from this trio.
Vs. Kukui Okay, so! I did not remember Kukui debuffs Sp Atk by -2. That's not great. Meloetta also decided that no, she would not be providing any Sp Atk boosts with her Buddy move. Unfortunate. So this was incredibly slow going overall.
Meloetta is interesting. Under HP parameters, she gets a lot of moves up next stacks going, and takes incredibly little with the defense boosting grid. Bianca's gradual healing with Curative Confusion gets Meloetta a lot of extra healing in, and lets her sustain reasonably well. If she rolls evasion from Buddy move, you can get into some really goofy shenanigans. But, as anticipated, she's heavily reliant on the RNG of that buddy move. DPS from both allies was not exactly stellar, because Sp Atk remained so low. Meloetta also has to pop her trainer move early to manage the gauge of slow options like Caitlin and Bianca. It's overall not an exceptionally great time, and gets really dicey when Kukui starts spamming Iron Tail, but she does manage the fight reasonably well. I think this was a particularly brutal counterpick stage, with the -2 Sp Atk on entry and +1 Sp Def each attack from Kukui really minimizing the impact she could have. The fact that Caitlin and Bianca, of all combos, still won, is impressive. She's definitely keeping up.
Final Thoughts For a run that completely messed up on basically every front, this still went pretty well. Harder CS difficulties would not be as kind, but I'm admittedly a little surprised they pulled even this off. 3k meta is particularly hostile toward off-type approaches, and you can feel the difficulty from the old 2.5k meta for sure.
