Hi, I'm here to ask for your expertise :) I saw a post that implied Duke and Tim like each other a lot and view each other as brothers. You're a person I trust has enough knowledge and good judgment to tell me if that's correct. Because, truth be told, I believed they're more like coworkers. They're fine with each other, but they'd never go out for lunch just the two of them. They'd save the other's life, but if Tim is moving he wouldn't call Duke for help – he'd call Cass and she'd show up with Duke in tow because they planned to hang out that day and didn't want to reschedule. Or something. Am I way off?

Tim and Duke are a bit hard to argue about because they don't interact much, but I am completely on your side. I just think of all the Robins - and arguably the whole Batfam - Tim is the person Duke has the least interest in.

I made a post about how they are basically opposites, with Duke's 'Robin doesn't need a Batman' inverting Tim's 'Batman needs a Robin'; I think these philosophical oppositions would make them not eager to be that close. Besides that, Duke would have no interest in being close to Dick's number 1 fan, just like Tim would have no interest in hanging out with one of Jason's favs. The only person they have in common is Cass, and I do not think she would be able to hang out with both of them at once - she is nowhere near a good enough mediator. So I think Tim and Duke would just avoid each other outside of missions.

Of course they do respect each other, and they can work well together (see Tim's cute 'we are Robin' in Urban Legends #9). Essentially they're coworkers who trust each other not to eat their food in the fridge, but once they clock out they are not thinking of each other at all. I just don't see the basis for an interesting relationship with them, though that could change with time.

(Also Duke knew the weird N52 Tim first, then Tim dies while Duke is being inducted into the Batfam, so all around Tim and Duke have had very little time to know each other. One of Duke's first experiences of Tim is him being KO'd by Damian in one punch so there's that too.)

Take: chaotic evil Yehonatan, in which he knew David is meant to replace him and his father from the very start.

TLDR: Yehonatan is as, if not more likely to be the abuser in their relationship because it is plain unfair to overlook how humongous their power gap is, and he is abused enough to be at least a little unhinged in his noggins.

Warning: dead dove do not eat. Im going to entertain an idea where Yehonatan is definitely not a good person. If you have a problem with that, or have issue reading fictional underage abuse and emotional manipulation, please stop reading. Finally, nothing about this is meant to be serious interpretation of the original text, it's all plain headcanoning for fanfiction.

(For the record, i seriously do not consider David (even close to being) a morally good individual in any possible sense of the word. It doesn't make any of this ok tho)

Some fanfics i've seen paint the davinatan ship as a manipulative one, with david being the seducter that manipulates Yehonatan into simping for him, only to discard him after David achieved his goals. Even outside of fanfictions, i know of people who view Yehonatan as a tragic victim. While i appreciate David's more malicious side being acknowledged, and agree with it more than depicting them simply and benignly loving eachother(tho i appreciate that too), I can't help but think how both protrayal down plays just how utterly creepy yehonatan's part in the relationship is.

Like, Yehonatan, a middle aged man with wives and kids, went ahead and basically stripped in front of a teen the first night they met then gave him some really personal and valuable gifts. If thats not a red flag i don't know what is.

Yehonatan is someone you do not want to cross, maybe even more so than Saul.

It is easy to forget that, holding the title of eldest son and legal heir to the throne comes with immense pressure, responsibility and danger, and dealing with all that takes more than just a thick backbone. With a deranged father as king, people around him are constantly plotting to take the throne for themselves. All bets are off in the war for the throne, even if Yehonatan doesn't actually want to be king, his competitors (which includes but not limited to his entire family) wouldn't rest until he is dead. He isn't in a position where he can just back off: it isn't unheard of that princes and kings renounce their positions, retire, and end up getting assassinated or executed anyway. Because king or not, they are still legitimate heirs to the throne and therefore a potential threat.

Basically, Yehonatan lives in a situation where he simply cannot afford to show weakness or hesitation, not to his subordinates, not to his brothers, not to his father, not to anyone. What doesn't kill you makes you dangerous, and Yehonatan is deadly in that sense.

(But its not to say all that didn't take a toll on his mental wellbeing. Yehonatan has no business being mentally ok. He watched his father ascend to the throne, watched as Saul sunk further towards insanity, and had to endure his often psychotic abuse for years. I don't believe one bit that he isn't depressed and at least a little messed up, especially in a time where mental illnesses aren't even acknowledged yet.)

To sum it up, as a weathered crown prince, Yehonatan would logically be a person who is reasonably paranoid, moderately ruthless, extremely strong willed and more than competently intuitive about the motives and intentions of people around him.

David on the other hand (at the start of their relationship anyway) had no prior experience mingling with politics, no ties in the palace, was never regarded with importance by his father or brothers (meaning he had zero exposure and no one ever invested in him), young and inexperienced (meaning vulnerable to manipulation), stands no chance against Yehonatan if he were to play mind games on him.

David could pull an Esther on Yehonatan. But keep in mind Esther and a lot of other femme fatal spies in history had ties that helped pull strings from the outside, they are often not the master mind either. David had himself, and practically nothing else.

This is why Yehonatan helping him matters so much. Useing weak willed and easily manipulated individuals only works for you if you are already a powerful dictator. If you have absolutely nothing you need powerful allys.

The most straightforward option for dark Yehonatan is just to kick the creep element up ten notchs. David tries to seduce Yehonatan, then immediately realises he bit off more than he could chew: he is just too possessive to be controlled. Yehonatan in this scenario probably somewhat resembles that purple creep from Tokyo ghoul, entertaining while the shock value lasts, but after that it gets pretty shallow. I hate this approach tbh.

Or, him seeing David that day was Yehonatan's last straw(what i doodled basically). He stops giving a sh*t about everything, and thought since he is so "in love" he might as well groom and sodomize David. Its a petty way of getting back at God for making him fall for the boy, and for making his life miserable in general.

He uses his charms and presents himself as a saintly figure to appeal to David's more religious side, then proceeds to not only make sure that David is emotionally dependent on him(i won't elaborate how but its easier than you think), but also plans to make it so that if he dies it will f*ck David in the head. He enjoys this, because for once in his life he feels a "real" sense of control, albeit a twisted and perverted one.

(Maybe he will feel shame and regret eventually, but thats another talk for another day.)

I'll borrow my friend's comment to sum up the take: "a broken abused individual perpetuating a cycle of abuse to an ambitions sociopathic twink, each making the other worse just through being together." Another reason i prefer this version of dark Yehonatan is cuz it restores some agency Yehonatan desperate lacks.

Strayed quite far from his canon image with my shameless slandering but yeah that's about it. For now. Might explore David's pov in this later.

Azul as a sibling (Broken relationship edition)

you and Azul used to be close

growing up with him, you saw the other kids pick on him and you knew about his insecurities

you were always there to defend him whenever you saw it

and you reassured him that what they said wasn't true

you would always be standing outside his octopot and keeping away other students so he wouldn't be teased

and so you two were close

but then one day in elementary school, there were a couple of eel twins

Azul was being picked on and curled up in his octopot when the twins approached

they actually talked to him and weren't really mean so you didn't stop them

and Azul actually became friends with them after a bit

but once they became friends, he started spending less time with you

while you could still hang out from time to time, he spent most of his time with them

you'd often see him planning and burying himself in spell books too

and the twins even helped keep bullies away from him

of course you're happy he has friends

and it's great that they help him out

but it really hurts when you want to spend time with him and he tells you he's too busy

especially because when he's "busy" the twins still hover around him

still, you tried to spend time with him a little bit while at home

and he couldn't always push you away

but every day he started to spend less and less time with you and more time studying magic

by the time the two of you were enrolled at Night Raven College, you barely see him anymore

you were a little hopeful when you two ended up in the same dorm

and the twins also got into Octavinelle

for a second you thought that you could try to spend a little time with him

but those hopes were destroyed very quickly

you wanted to try talking to him so you called out to him

all you said was "Brother!" and he immediately turned around with a scowl

all he said was to not call him that before walking away

so maybe he doesn't want to talk to you

you carried on with your school activities and watched Azul from afar

you're not exactly sure what he's been doing, but he seemed to socialize with students a lot more than he did before

and he also seems more confident in himself

eventually he even talked with the headmage and opened a lounge

it was very surprising actually

your brother who used to be very shy and meek is now running a lounge

it was even more surprising when Jade came up to you saying that Azul wanted most Octavinelle students working there, including you

you accepted (the eel didn't give you much of a choice) and started working immediately

unfortunately, you got stuck with some of the worse jobs that no one wanted to do

this included dishes, taking care of trash, cleaning the bathrooms, and generally cleaning any spills

even while working there, you didn't see much of Azul

he spent most of his time in the VIP room

not many people were allowed in there

it was only Azul, the twins, and anyone he wanted to speak with

while working, there would sometimes be students that point out that the two of you were siblings

those students were often dragged to the VIP room and looked very scared when coming out

and they never mentioned it again

it's like hardly anyone knew you were siblings

it's like he didn't want anyone to know

as if he didn't want to be associated with you

and then one day Jade told you that Azul wanted you in the the VIP room

you went in the room and Azul didn't even look up at you

he was to busy writing something

you sat down on one of the couches and awkwardly waited for something to happen

still not looking up at you, he just told you to sign and slid a piece of paper in your direction

looking at it, it was a contract

it said that you would work and do anything he wanted you too, and you could never tell anyone that you were related, you used to be close, or even give details of his childhood

in return you get some of the better jobs like actually dealing with customers and more discounts

you knew of his unique magic

if you signed this contract you would be forced to follow it

of course you didn't want to sign it

and you told him that

this time he actually looked at you

"Is your head so thick that you can't see how I'm trying to help you? You'll get a better position and discounted items. You should consider yourself lucky that I'm kind enough to offer your poor soul something better. Normally I wouldn't even waste my time with someone like you, but my benevolent nature is simply too strong. Besides, this is beneficial for both sides and you'll kindly be helping me as well."

but he phrased it in such a way that made it sound like you would be helping him by signing

and he is your brother after all, even if he doesn't want to admit it

things weren't so great after that

while you did get some of the better jobs, you still had to do some of the worse ones

and this also means you had to work more

on top of that you couldn't refuse anything he said

not that he acknowleged you too much after that

he mostly asked Jade or Floyd to tell you what he wanted

because you weren't worth his time

then he started making contracts with more people

and the Mostro Lounge had...too many workers to keep up with

they all signed a contract with Azul, and now they payed the price

but then a bunch of Savanaclaw student showed up one day and caused so much trouble in the lounge

they caused such a mess and spilled everything and you were already dreading the cleanup later

but then you saw Azul

he was clearly upset and frustrated at everyone around him

for a second, he almost looked like the same Azul that used to get picked on

but then the dark ink seemed to consume him

as much as you wanted to help, you were too far away, everyone around you was scrambling, and the students involved seemed like they were trying to keep others away

Azul wouldn't want your help anyway

he'd hate to know that you helped save him

but he was your brother you couldn't just stand by and let it happen

the other students were able to save him before you could even get there

and you kept your distance

Azul was a bit of a wreck after that

you found out that all of his contracts got destroyed so you weren't bound to yours anymore

but you still didn't call him brother

he didn't want that anyway so it just sort of stayed

after his overblot he started acting different

while he still didn't talk to you much at first, he was around you more often

he didn't spend as much time in the VIP room and actually came out to work with everyone else

sometimes he did sort of...hover near you

it was like he wanted to say something, but instead he'd just fidget and look frustrated

the twins seemed entertained by it at least

and then he invites you to the VIP room again

when you enter he's a bit fidgety and won't look at you

you ask if he wants another contract and he's surprised

no one has even mentioned contracts to him since he overblotted

but he says no and that he actually has a new work schedule for you

when you take a look you're amazed

less hours and you don't have to do those horrible jobs anymore???

it was really amazing

since then he even has been trying to make conversation with you

he's incredibly awkward about it tho

he doesn't know what to say so he's searching for something you may be interested in

he wishes he did more research on you in the past to know what you like now

still, he's trying

but what really changed was his attitude towards you

so when some customers were being annoying and complaining about you one day, he actually came to your defense

"Excuse me? It would be wise to watch what you say. After all, that's my sibling you're talking about."

In my HC, Cyno put a lot of attention in family.

Firstly because Cyrus was his only one family when he was a kid with amnesia, but also he grown up with Lisa as colleague under the same professor, but both of them consider Cyrus as a parental figure : without saying anything, a link it made of brother/sister. Cyno never knows his family by blood, and I think he was curious once. But he is satisfy with his current family ! And for him, family doesn't need to blood related. And if I remember well, Cyno said (during Windblum event, EVENT EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR ME 😭🫶) something like it is pretty current people in Akademiya becomes a family for study. It was his case ! Cyrus becomes his dad figure, Lisa, her senior, is like a big sister (I wouldn't never forget when she calls him little brother/baby brother) (AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA !!! <3). And when in windblum Cyno came visited Lisa, during their conversation, Cyno is the one mentionning the family bond she has with Cyrus "you are also part of the family, Lisa. It is normal for a daughter to talk like his father" (*CRYING*)! It sounds a tiny detail but I feel like this is so important for him.

Then came Tighnari, aka the first friend he had ever ! (I am a bit lost in chronology tho. In Tighnari's backsto, we learn they met when Cyno was already the general mahamatra while Tighnari was a student new-ly popular. But in Cyno's quest, we learn that they were student when they met ?? So Cyno was student and General ? 🤔 welp, I am still unsure but now I include it in my HC/brainrot kskdkd). And also Collei ! Collei is a bit more complicated, in term that she wasn't comfortable around him for a long time being. But even when she wasn't comfortable around him at first, she still gave him a bookmark handmade during windblum and saying he is like a family for him (I AM ON THE FLOOR). Tighnari and Cyno both consider Collei like a little sister, and bahaha when they "fight" about "who is the older one" and tighnari don't want to admit this loser being the older oh gosh i love theeeeeeem (I will never recover from "oh yeah but you're younger in your head, Collei could be your big sis !" "I wouldn't never say I am the youngest !!! Except if it is for an opportunity for winning TCG by shocking my opponent.." cyno you are so real). But during this windblum event again, Cyno said something like "you know Collei, tighnari said we are not an akademiya family, and he doesn't want to work on a post together" and this is SUPER IMPORTANT because for Cyno, as you can see earlier, only had family by study (Cyrus, Lisa). He worked, studied and published with his father and Lisa. And also, he did homework with Tighnari that he considers like a brother in soul. But the fact he was "refused" to do work with Collei and him, kind of make him feel to tell Collei "yeah we r family but, tighnari... ):"

As Tighnari answered "You know, we can consider ourself as a normal family" AND THAT'S SOSO IMPORTANT. In my HC, Tighnari is the one in group having a "good family" (not in sumeru cast, I believe it is Nilou who has the healthiest family). He knows what a family is supposed to, he grew up with parents who teach him a lot of thing and he explored with them. Anyway Tighnari is a healthy kid, he knows that they don't need to work on a project together to be a family. Oh and that's also why I HC him Aromantic, AroAce persons value platonic and familyship a lot more than romantic, so he doesn't know mind that Collei and Cyno who are not blood related to him are like a true family for him !

(Before continue, I want to talk his bond with Collei ; I believe he can relates on how Collei suffered from the seal, because Cyno who might forget his past, he remembers the pain. That's how in Tighnari's voiceline, Cyno often check how Collei is going w/o her noticing. Even when Collei was aware of Cyno and under Tighnari care, he was ready to help her. And in the first story quest, Tighnari said that she still awares of him. I wonder how often they talk abt Collei !! I am sure Cyno shares to Tighnari how much he woud like to get along with her, and that's how Tighnari gives him opportunity like this one official art when in description Tighnari said "I asked Collei to bring Cyno")

And so, that's how in Cyno's quest we were able to see all his closest friends. Tighnari Collei Kaveh Alhaitham Candace Dehya Faruzan (and Traveler). Everyone was worried for him, was wishing to help him, and was here for him. And Cyno also noticed he is less alone (GOOD FOR HIM). And now, there is Sethos, a man coming from nowhere in this life, but an important man ; they didn't spend life together but they can feel a deep connection bcuz of both of their backstory. Sethos might be the closest to understand all his doubt a long time ago (and Cyno IS the closest person for Sethos to relate). And IN CYNO'S VOICELINE ABOUT SETHOS "Aren't we his best friends of whole Sumeru city ?! 😐" Cyno pulled the power of friendship and adopt him in his big family circle.

ANYWAY WOW IT IS ONLY 8AM AND I AM HERE ALREADY YAPPING ABOUT CYNO BAHAHAHA

But genshin impact is for me more family impact that anything 😭 🫶 (and that's also why I am stuck with sumeru while FONTAINE AND THE HOUSE OF HEARTH ARE JUST RIGHT HERE ?!?!) after all, we are playing a traveler who is searching their twin !

ok so what the hell is the legal drinking age in earthbread man like. So I was thinking I would finally have to take the L on the "how fudging old is Alchemist Cookie" thing because Witch's Castle has that side story where she botches an experiment and it basically causes her to act like her brother. Including the alcoholism. (Tbh it is like my favorite special story in the game like part of that is 'cus of favorite character bias but also it ends really sweetly like WC is just really good for grape siblings fans in general they get a lot of content-). So I was like "okay then she has to be at least 19 if we assume the drinking age would line up with the real world/country the game is from. I can take an L I thought she was younger than that but I was wrong" BUT THEN FOR GINGERBRAVE'S BIRTHDAY WE GET THIS:

Basically this is like really ancient shxt but like there was something called I think the Junior Cookie Challenge once where basically 9 kid characters gave you missions and WIZARD WAS ONE OF THEM

(I think this event happened before certain characters were even a thing including Alchemist when I checked the dates so like I have no idea if the characters were like limited for a reason or if this was all the kid characters in the game at the time but regardless I'm. She recalled a time before she was Dean of medicine. When Wade found out Wilson had received a mediocre review... he'd used his considerable influence and threats of violence to have the accreditation board threaten to pull certification from the hospital until it was remedied...

that's actually how she got the position. The previous dean was regularly harassed any time he felt Wilson was slighted, and finally, he couldn't take it anymore and retired early... to Wilsons credit, he had no idea this was going on until Cuddy took the job. the previous dean was probably threatened into silence on the subject, too...

Cuddy was never one to be bullied and had come clean with James about all of his father's antics shortly after taking the position. Wade Wilson was dangerous, but she'd be damned if she'd let a mercenary tell her how to run a hospital

Wilson quickly put a stop to this behavior and added that Cuddy was a friend knowing that bare minimum his dad would be less threatening to one of "Kittens" friends.

She agreed to give him the week off despite late notice and the myriad of other HR and staffing problems associated with being short a doctor on one condition... he had to take Greg with him... she didn't have the time or patience to Deal with the illustrious Dr House without Wilson to help her.

By the time he'd gotten back to his office house hadn't really moved much... sitting behind Wilson's desk playing on his phone...

I was raised by a mentally unstable warlord with a gun fetish and his Victorian era husband the worlds grummpiest teddy bear who has knives in his hands and PTSD from the American Civil War.... and a grandmother who did more drugs than every member of the Rolling stones combined, and she liked to tell me wildly inappropriate stories... usually about my dad's banging, or how she was a sultry honey pot when she worked for MI6.

So starting from the bottom, the D tier, we obviously have Solid, only started respecting his younger sister after it turned out she's much stronger than him and saved their whole family, bullied her before and was a bitch. He may have a neutral/decent relationship with his other siblings but that's because they were also bitches to Noelle

Langris is in the D tier too for obvious reasons, like sorry, but that's true. Maybe bro changed later, maybe he even held hands with his brother and fought by his side later, but that's only because Finral was a good brother to him, so fuck Langris

In the C tier we have Nozel. AND DON'T TRY TO CHANGE MY MIND. I get that he couldn't tell anyone about the curse, but what's that gotta do with letting his younger siblings THAT HE HAS POWER OVER bully Noelle??? AND JOINING THEM?????? Bro said he wanted to protect her, but than didn't protect her from her own family who she should feel safe with. No one can make me like you, Nozel Silva. Byakuya Kuchiki did it better.

Now we're starting with the B tier, which is a tier for people who are brothers but I can't really rate them? Maybe they didn't act really 'brotherly'??

We're starting this tier with Gordon, Gordon has a younger sister, they seem to like eachother, are really similar and that's all we know. So he's in the middle.

Next we have Neige who I also may not remember but he listened to and trusted his brother, so idk what to do with him, but I won't just ignore him here 🙄🙄 Kay, next

Kiato. Once again, him and Kahono have a close relationship, but we can't really say something about what kind of brother he is from that, maybe they just get along well. So middle tier for him.

Next is Kirsch. The guy is a beauty obsessed narcissist and Mimosa doesn't like him, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad brother?? And even tho I didn't pay much attention to him I don't think we see him interact with his sister much?? And that's the reasoning behind this

Than we have Lumier, who's also a brother even tho I almost forgot (I keep forgetting who's sister Tetia was 💀). And I mean we either saw him with Licht, or Licht with Tetia during the flashbacks so we can't say much about his skills in being a brother, they just had a good relationship

And last in this tier we have the Zogratis brothers, Dante and Zenon. Well they are bad people, but it doesn't mean they're bad brothers. Once again. IDK WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THEM, NEXT TIER

This tier is special.

It's the Gauche tier.

Putting aside the way he acts and reacts to his sister, he might be too obsessive about her, like not letting Asta talk to her, howEVER, THE WAY HE GAVE HER A MIRROR THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR COMMUNICATION BUT ACTUALLY IT'S ALSO TO PROTECT HER?? THIS IS SO CUTE, COME ON.

Every time I think about them I curse Tabata that he made Gauche the way he is because if he didn't have those disgusting reactions to her I woul probably love his character.

there are lots of tv shows and so on that have slob-related stuff and sometimes you see them once and can never find them again

anyway this is a list of a few i remember:

Joe's Apartment: a movie about a guy who moves to New york and he's (to quote one of the characters) "the dirtiest freakin' slob on the planet". His apartment is infested with talking cockroaches and developers want to tear down the apartment block so the cockroaches (who love him bc he's a slob) help him save his apartment. the cockroaches also sing. it is all-around pretty gross and i'm here for that

Him & Her: a series about a couple who are slobs and kinda gross in a domestic-cute sort of way. i don't think you can find many eps of it online and the very first ep which had some scenes i really liked i haven't seen anywhere. i only really watched ep 1 all the way through tho so i can't really vouch for the rest of the show

Portlandia: one episode has the gay brother of a character (and his boyfriend) coming to stay and she and her husband are disappointed that they're not the stereotypically neat and stylish gays. the gay guys make a mess of the house. there's not much more than that but it was hot to me when i first saw it

Pigsty: an old sitcom that didn't last very long centred around a bunch of guys sharing an apartment. ive never watched a full episode but the opening sequence is slob-related enough for me to include it

Buzzfeed stuff: 'Weird things guys do when they're alone', 'Lazy things all guys have done' and 'You at home alone vs. with people': all of these involve a range of gross habits and behaviours.

The Simpsons: there's a lot in the simpsons because homer is a fat lazy slob to a t, but special attention must be paid to Bart after dark for its trash angels scene and Bart's dental hygiene. Also the opening of Bart gets an elephant. there are too many episodes that have aspects of slob in them so i'll stop here

Parks and Rec: Andy and April's house. To quote Andy "it's a mess!" Sadly Ben cleans it up (boo...)

The Office: I never got this far but at some point Jim moves in with Darryl and then they have an odd couple dynamic going on. nothing really exciting but i remembered it so eh why not add it

Futurama: Fry is a total slob and i love him for it. sorry if this is too much information but the first time i ever came i was thinking about him being a slob. like the Simpsons there are too many good moments but a stand out is 'How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back' where an inspector has an affair with Fry because she has a fetish for slobs. what can i say, she has good taste in men

The Heron's Cry: a book, it has one character who is a slob, but he only appears in one scene which i'll quote excerpts of because it's short (there's more i didn't quote but this is the best bit):

...there was a kitchen littered with pizza boxes and foil containers from takeaway restaurants. Empty beer cans. A smell that would set alarms ringing with environmental health. The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole and its sequel The Growing pains of Adrian Mole: Adrian helps an elderly man called Bert who is a total slob. They clean out his house and it is an endeavour. Favourite part of this scene though is this line: "Bert has been sitting in a deckchair criticising and complaining. He can’t see what’s wrong with living in a dirty house. What is wrong with living in a dirty house?" Nothing, in my opinion. There are other scenes too. Adrian's mother is a slob and there's even a bit where she chides him on being so fussy and not messy like a 'normal' teenager. I know there's more but my memory fails me right now

Friends: there's two main ones that come to mind: the one with the dirty girl (obvious reasons) and the one where ross and rachel you know (which to me is known as the one where joey and chandler get recliners).

Kotaro Lives Alone: Karino is a lazy manga artist whose apartment is a mess. The part that got me was when he wondered if he should take a shower and then he goes 'nah, i'm good'. He gets more on top of things after he meets Kotaro, but he's still pretty lazy after ep 1

Very random thing, but this ad for JBS underwear. It's a woman dressed in male underwear behaving like a stereotypical man and it covers a lot of categories for me

Stardew Valley: Shane. that's all i really have to say but in particular his spouse room and his comments about his weight

Spiritfarer: a video game. one of the spirits you can get on your boat is Jackie and he starts out with a messy, trash-filled room. he also dislikes healthy food. he ends up cleaning up his act though.

El, Virginia and Katinka

This is what I do at 1 am...

Katinka is the diminutive form of Katerina. Meaning: pure. Often used for small children.

Yuri is the russian variant of George. Like "George Smith" in the prequel. He says that there are two Katinkas: a woman and the helicopter, "a virgin".

Virginia means pure. According to legend, Virginia was a Roman girl who was killed by her father in order to save her from seduction by a corrupt government official (interesting)

I think young, pure Katinka and adult Katinka are a reference to young Virginia Creel and adult Virginia.

But there's also a big parallel between El and Katinka. Yuri removes the spark plug, so that Katinka can't fly. Brenner tells El that her powers were still there after the massacre, they just needed a spark. So, like Kali says, there is a missing piece. For the helicopter, it's the spark plug, for El it's her memories.

Mike compares her to Superman, and Brenner says that in order to defeat One she will have to fly. But she's not ready, because she still doesn't know the whole truth. In fact, she destabilezes the helicopter, while Yuri and Enzo, when they're finally on the same page ("become whole again") make Katinka fly.

Also, all the memories they show when Brenner says that El needed a spark, are terrible and sad: El crying, or killing people with the head tilt, like Henry does in S4.

What gives her her powers back and makes her even more powerful is not a spark (cruel experiments, fear and isolation) but a bright light. And it's not remembering Henry or her opening the gate. It's the memory of her mother.

A happy memory, different from what she saw in Terry's mind. They didn't let Terry say hello to Jane. Imo, one of the hints that she's not her mother. She is mama to Brenner's papa. They became her parents, yes, (all the paralles with Hopper and Joyce) but after she was swapped at the hospital. El has started to remember tho...

They tell her that thanks to Nina, which means little girl in Spanish (Joyce's last name, Maldonado, is Spanish) she will become even more powerful. But when they say that and when she lifts the water tank, they only focus on her and the doctor who looks like Will.

But if the whole point of Nina is to help El to remember how she defeated Henry, it's strange that they focus on a woman who looks like her brother, who wasn't even in those memories.

Unless the missing piece is the memory of her real family. After the van scene, we get this transition and Brenner saying that he doesn't know what El found in herself that day. Maybe they show it here what she found, for a brief moment. She found him, Will. And Joyce.

Another hint might be the parallel between the hand El sees in her memory and Nancy touching the light particles, after she mentions Will and Joyce, and Dustin says that it's a tear in time and space.

Dustin also mentions Mothergate. He says 'This is the answer' when Karen asks the agent if he wants a glass of water. Then they talk about tears in the fabric of time and space, and there's the painting of a lake behind them (the car crash. Yeah, I love that theory ok? lol) I think Mothergate is also about the UD/Mind Flayer spreading into our world, a parallel with IT, who takes the shape of a giant spider and laid eggs in her lair, like the spiders Max sees in Vecna's mind space (other parallels with IT) But yeah, El's mother and water. A lake and a tear in time and space...

Like I said in other posts, I don't think these are coincidences. Like Karen showing up and mentioning water when they talk about Mothergate. She's the one who joked about Nancy being 'swapped at the hospital'. It's not a coincidence that she and Nancy are always in scenes that hint at what might've happened to El in the past. Including the parallels with Barb. Because it's possible that Karen is connected to Henry, so maybe these are hints about both her story and El's.

this took so long im so sorry 😭 sosiel isn't as fleshed out as i'd like because i had a really hard time thinking of what their dynamic is like :[ I had fun writing it tho!!

again, some of this might change because im playing as her again, and am trying to pay closer attention to some of the companions i didnt last time. im also playing with the gracious friendship mod, which adds new dialogue options and reactivity.

Regill and Maercy actually came to respect each other! She definitely doesn't like the way he treats his troops, nor does he like her carefree and generous nature, but she appreciates his perspective as someone who's been on the front line against the Worldwound for much longer than she has. She initially finds him off-putting, and categorically disagrees with his disregard of companionship, but he listens to her, for some reason, and came to her defense when she was stripped of her title.

Woljif wound up like a little brother to her. She cares a lot about his well-being and wants to see him succeed, even if he sometimes has...questionable morals. She likes his jokes. When he went missing, she was more worried than she was mad. The parallels between their situations created a really sweet moment during the mythic path choice, and I don't remember exactly what he said, but it really resonated with what she was feeling at that point. She'd already made up her mind, but he kind of cemented it for her.

She loves Ember and is extremely protective of her. She's wary about her praying to literal demon lords, and doesn't love the disparaging comments made about her goddess, but is willing to let her do her thing, both because she's curious and also because she doesn't like infringing on others personal choices.

Absolutely loves Arueshalae. She was very excited about meeting someone with such a unique connection to her goddess, let alone a demon, and was very enthusiastic about helping her. Wound up with a bit of a crush on her, but ultimately realized she had feelings for someone else. She believed in Arueshalae's ability to overcome her demonic nature from the very beginning. They remain very close, after everything, and Maercy makes it a point to visit her often.

She finds Daeran's cruelty and disregard for other people's lives to be concerning, but otherwise does enjoy his sense of humor. I don't think they get along very well, but she does grow fond of him, despite this. She really hated sneaking around him during his personal quests.

She thinks Nenio is funny. She likes playing along with her weird experiments. She doesn't like when she asks Lann her other companions invasive or dehumanizing questions, though. Doesn't become especially close to her until after her act 5 quest.

She gets along pretty well with Sosiel! She resonates a lot with his initial motivation in joining the crusade, and I think becomes good friends with him. She likes talking to him about art, and respects his determination.

Not much to say about Trever. I think she feels awkward around him. She does her best to make him feel included without causing him too much stress. She thinks he needs to stay off the battlefield for. Ever.

She thinks Ulbrig is pretty cool, I mean, what isn't cool about a guy who can turn into a griffon? She hits it off with him, at first, he's fun to banter with and she likes learning about old Sarkoris, but they butt heads because of his feelings about magic and magic users. Things got pretty tense at the end of act 4, which I think genuinely hurt her, and subsequently their friendship. I got his not-great-but-not-bad ending though so. I want to see his good ending and see how I feel about that.

She has mixed feelings about Greybor. On one hand, she respects him as an ally, and doesn't want to infringe on his personal choices. On the other, she doesn't like his line of work or that he abandoned his family. Her live-and-let-live attitude gets the best of her, in the end, and I don't think she pushes him to be better. (this may change depending on how i feel about his good ending)

Tag Duel bios are so funny because they include so much dumbass trivia and a whole section on each character's love life for some reason? Trivia detailed below because it's SO funny.

Judai: Apparently not only is Judai really disinterested in girls but no girl has ever hit on him before which is why Judai finds Rei scary ("It will be interesting to see how Jaden reacts to Blair Flannigan, who becomes really infatuated with him. No one like that has been around him before.") It's stated he's happy to eat everything. Not anything. Everything. Judai is an unstoppable gluttonous machine.

Sho: Honestly the funniest entry by far. Someone on this writing team just wants Sho to SUFFER and its lowkey hilarious. This kid exists to be in pain. Apparently he "tends to fall in love very easily. On top of that, he cares quite a lot about looks, making things even more difficult for himself." His favourite food is shrimp but can't stand spicy food. I don't know if this is a direct translation or a dub gag but apparently he changes his glasses on special occasions but nobody ever notices (lol)

Asuka: Asuka's crush on Judai is described as a mystery which is interesting. Apparently Asuka doesn't even know she has a crush on Judai which is so funny, I love you girl. Seeing Rei flirt with Judai apparently puts her in a bad mood. Apparently if she was to look for a partner, it would be someone who can put her mind at ease. ("More than maybe anything else, she needs a partner to give her peace of mind if they really want to support her") The bio makes a point of speculating whether or not she's good at cooking since Judai is Duel Academy's hungriest guy. She likes sweets! And healthy food and dislikes stuff with strong smells.

Manjoume: His bio is so funny. Like. So funny. The first paragraph basically calls him a tsundere (true). Canon use of bad language (whether or not this is cursing or just general Manjoume rudeness - LET HIM SAY FUCK!!!) He's described as being obsessed with Asuka - although not as infatuated as he used to be. Dude does NOT eat his veggies!!! He likes expensive food and hates vegetables!!! He is NOT growing big and strong!!!

Kenzan: Kenzan bio is really just contributing to sweet kid propaganda. I am a Kenzan fan and apologist he is one of my favourite characters. "Hassleberry stands out at Duel Academy due to his very muscular physique. Although he's probably very good in a fight, he's by no means a violent person. In fact, he's usually very kind and generous." YOU BET!!!! KENZAN IS A SWEETHEART!!! KENZAN NO.1 IN THE WORLD!!! He's apparently pretty fashionable, as on top of the bio rehashing that he modified his own uniform, it mentions that he would probably do the same to the Obelisk Blue Uniform. Which is interesting!!! Fun headcanon material! Apparently he has no dislikes but his favourite food is fish (another fishing enjoyer too)

Edo: This bio was the worst victim of dub translations as it reiterates the dub version where his father is kidnapped and not like dead LMAO. Other than that tho? Apparently he doesn't really show interest in romance since he was too busy hunting for revenge but now that it's been settled "Aster finally has time to look for love. It'll be really exciting to see he goes for it or not." According to the bio he's considered good looking in universe. His favourite food is steak and other meats.

Rei: Apparently Manjoume's entire room was just turned into a Red Girl's Dorm. Which is tbh. Hilarious. Not only did he get evicted by a toddler but his entire room that he stole his brother's credit card for was turned into a girls only space lmao. Apparently Rei is actually one of the best at dueling among the entirety of the first years (real I feel like people sleep on Rei's dueling abilities sometimes since she's. Yknow. Like that.) She likes sweet and spicy food.

Johan: Finally. Weirdo Johan propaganda. He's described as someone who's thoughtful but frank and says the craziest weirdest shit sometimes. His whole bio paints him as someone who's very composed but can be reckless or impulsive when he's in the heat of the moment or excited. Incredibly funny how the bio claims "Nobody knows what kind of girl he likes. If the right young lady does come on the scene though, we wonder if the Crystal Beasts will call a family meeting..." (LMAO.) His favourite food is... Bread stuffed with various unusual fillings. You know this guy makes the WORST, WEIRDEST sandwiches known to man.

Jim: interestingly, despite the game referring to Karen as Karen in Jim's dialogue, the bio calls her Shirely. More reasons why changing the name for the damn crocodile was so silly. We do not information about Jim's love life or favourite food in his bio :(

O'Brien: Not much is said about the non-Johan transfer students. Like. Nothing except information you could find the anime. Interestingly enough though, O'Brien likes cola and junk food.

Misawa: One paragraph. Mf gets one paragraph in his bio. Is described as having a good personality but isn't treated well by his peers. (I wonder why.)

Fubuki: "ALL THE WOMEN FLOCK TO HIM WHEN HE APPEARS!!!!" His bio also reiterates his friendship with Ryo and questions what it's like since "They seem like polar opposites"

Momoe and Junko have bios too!!! Although they're mostly described as growing apart a little from Asuka :( Although apparently Momoe hangs out with Judai's clique a lot. Junko on the other hand is influenced mostly by what Momoe does.

It's the 20th of November, which means that today we're going to say farewell to the birthday letters for this year. It has been a pleasure managing to cover another K-pop group and I hope I'll manage to redo this tradition next year with a new group, new collages and new heartfelt letteers!

I confess that I always wanted to include idols' pets in the collages, but not every idol has a pet, and adding them would have made the collages a little…inconsistent, I think?

Maybe in future collages, I will add more pets, who knows.

And now, have the pleasure to read the last letter for this year.

Talking about Mujin is...complicated. The main reason is that if it wasn't for Ivan (especially Ivan) and Dann, Mujin would have been my bias. Don't worry, he still managed to enter into my list. He's one of my wreckers...which makes my life as a kingmaker pure hell bliss. I wanted to make this intro to highlight how Mujin had every requirement to get into my bias list. Heck, I think I would have made a lot of jokes about him being a sort of little brother because I'm older than him by only eight months. Eight months! Isn't it funny?

Anyway, you might wonder what requirements he had apart for the eight months thing. Well, let's start with the most "professional" ones.

First and foremost, his character and his own album on HOK. I think I'm becoming repetitive recently with HOK but when I say that Mujin's album is one of my favourites from HOK, I truly mean it. I'll keep repeating it over and over, but this album is in my top 3 and I don't think I'll ever get over this. And his album is also the first one where I experienced, during comeback season, keep in mind this, his writing skills. I confess that I didn't check the other albums' credits and see if he wrote other songs before My Wave, but if I tell you that My Wave is one of my favourite b-sides, I truly mean it. This boy has a huge writing talent and it deserves to shine more.

His character in Kingdom's story and lore is also one of my favourite ones. I think I'm starting to have a thing for tragic characters for real, especially if those ones were beloved heroes at first. As time as I write this letter, it seems that his character is turning to the dark side, although I prefer waiting for the next comeback to see if I'm right or not. And if he manages to become a dark side character...uhm, I don't know, I just hope he'll be fascinating.

And his voice? Heck, the people who listened to his covers will probably agree with me that he has a beautiful voice whether he's singing or rapping.

Of course, all these talents are also compensated by his duality. This talented boy is the same one who ends up making the cutest and the loudest noises ever. His dolphin scream has become one his most iconic sounds along with his laugh! They make him immediately recognisable.

And what about some of his hobbies? Some of you are probably thinking about some of his vlogs where he shared a huge interest in clothing. His latest birthday vlog is literally a behind scene of a photobook! But I was also thinking about his knitting. Even tho it's not shown that much nowadays in the videos, I always found his knitting hobby very fascinating. You don't always find your typical idol finding some time for knitting. And if the idol whose knitting is Mujin then the simple action of knitting becomes cute too.

And the last important thing that makes Mujin very dear and important to me is...his cat. I'm sorry, I'm a cat person and his cat is literally a fluffy white cloud that deserves all the love and cuddles from Mujin. I want more pics of that cat...or videos of Mujin cuddling his cat. Or both. Or anything with his cat in it. Just his cat. I love that cat.

Dear Mujin, your letter will close this year's tradition and even though I don't know if I'll manage to do it again, I want to say that I'm glad your letter will be the last entry. Your talents and your cute and fun personality deserved to be highlighted and shown. During the years, you managed to give us a lot of precious moments that Kingmakers will keep with them forever. Please, be always healthy, don't get hurt and keep chasing your dreams.

My birthday wish for you is that you'll manage to get a modelling contract. That's incredible, uh? But honestly, after seeing how much you're passionate about modeling and how, in recent vlogs, you were trying to fix your styling choice, I think becoming a model would fit you a lot.
