cannot stop rotating wl!gem in my head after that episode. encouraging pearl and impulse to go after her enemies and then gossiping with scott about them afterwards. insane behaviour. the discussion about impulse. missing secret life. fucking helllll. i'm obsessed with how dedicated she is to the anti pearl and impulse campaign. how dedicated she is to painting them as aggressors, antagonizers, going into her base and looking through her fields, when she's undeniably the one starting shit with them. that one stream clip of her saying she's going to channel breakup coldness dialogue from subnautica against pearl. iconic behaviour. i love divorce

Can we acknowledge how tragic of a detail this is? In ch114?
Tumblr media
The fact that Teru views Kunishige (shrine grandpa) as the only one he can rely on despite how their relationship is at-best frenemies and at-worst hostile is downright devastating.
Reason #1: Teru and Kunishige’s relationship is predominantly negative.
In ch79, gramps was making jokes about threatening Teru’s livelihood and while Teru later joined in to counter, the comment was clearly in bad faith — an attempted power play to exert control over Teru and his flippant behavior. It’s a baseless threat stuffed within the carcass of a joke: “your family needs us — show respect.” Teru’s an instigator for sure, but he’s not the adult in this situation.
Tumblr media
Point #2: Kunishige has done little to deserve Teru’s faith as an individual.
Shrine politics aside, gramps was beefing with a teenager and snitches on him to his dad! He pulled the “I’m telling Dad on you” with Teru’s OWN FATHER pushing 90 — like DAWG.
Tumblr media
I don’t fault gramps for reporting the Red House incident given his past experiences or its history, but it was the professional choice — not the kind one. It doesn’t indicate any affection towards Teru nor resemble how you would treat a child you would go out of your way to support. Teru clearly has an adverse reaction to his father. He’s off-put by the idea of contacting him in ch79 and canonically views his father as absent and not someone he can expect help from in ch114. Not over Kunishige at least.
Yeah, gramps puts on the Santa suit per Teru’s request. That in itself is an undeniable act of kindness. He does care and I don’t doubt that he is there for Teru. But it’s not enough to deny this fact:
Tumblr media
Conclusion: The only person (and adult) Teru feels he can rely on doesn’t treat him very well and won’t protect him from his father if it meant going against his shrine duties. A bottom of the barrel choice because it becomes unnervingly evident this child, Teru, as early as 14, grew up having no one else. He chooses Kunishige over his own father, family members, friends, teachers — everyone.
And Kunishige doesn’t even like him.

"if we make america worse and more of a dictatorship that will be even harder to unravel and make it the way we want the country to be, maybe then everyone will join our Glorious Revolution!" bb girl you cant even be in the same room with someone who thinks you should vote, how in tf do you think you're gonna unite people to fight in The Revolution with you? it's gonna be you and your 5 friends, i hate to break it to you.
#i dont think you realize how repelling you and your politics are to everyone else#you get all of your validation for how Smart You Are from your friends and ignore any kind of feedback that suggests you should#change or do something differently. thats the only reason you're so convinced average people will go along with you bc you keep getting#affirmation from the people who ALREADY agree with you- but you have NO IDEA how to bridge the gap between people who agree#with you and disagree with you. you're horrible at convincing people of your side of things outside of straight up guilt tripping them#or bullying them like a highschooler. im sorry but the tools you learned to survive with as a kid aren't gonna help you in this situation.#the ONLY THING you can come up with to bridge that gap is a bloody revolution. thats how bad you are at this.#and you're also so bad at this and unimaginative that you dont even realize how THAT might not even be enough.#you cant imagine ANY kind of avenue to getting people to change AT ALL outside of blood and fire. and thats why people call you#an authoritarian.#i'll be honest- i really do think the world would be a better place if we did incremental change under a democratic president who wont#set the world on fire vs the godkingemperor republican WHO WONT EVEN LISTEN TO YOU AT ALL EVER AND MIGHT KILL YOU#FOR PUTTING UP A STINK. idk if you noticed but if that evil fuck gets into office we are severely outnumbered if he gets police#n shit to go after his own citizens. letting trump win is making this battle so much harder than it needs to be.#you are choosing trying to fix the world while its exploding vs trying to fix it before it explodes at all.#what is this like a procrastination thing? you wanna wait till the last minute to try? idfgi. wtf is wrong with you#throwing minority lives away to prove a point. and then you try to tell me you care. gtfoh.#accelerationists should never be taken seriously.

i’m genuinely shocked by this:
Tumblr media
how can someone miss the point by such a large margin that they end up implying that Rhaenyra’s cause would have had no positive impact on the women of the realm?
how can one’s thought process be so far removed from the actual reality? is this the inconsistent logic one must tangle in to become a green? have these people never sat in a history class before?
jeyne arryn anyone? does she not exist to them? a point actually made in the book (not one twisted by the greens to advance their agenda) was that her rulership of the vale would’ve been seriously endangered and put into question if the greens won. but that is conveniently ignored by these interesting… folks.
i can understand the anger this person has with the horrible dance of the dragons adaptation and its treatment of female characters. and i mean it. especially when i say female characters. because alicent isn’t the female character who’s actually getting the shortest end of the stick. it was rhaenyra and rhaenys who were the most grievously declawed. rhaenyra is queen. her council is supposed to be her council. the war is supposed to be her war for her throne, not for some stupid prophecy that should’ve logically been lost a long time ago. and rhaenys is a baratheon with a temper and a dragon rider who would’ve burnt the greens and melted their bones if she had the chance. but for some reason the show decided to make a whole new character and slap rhaenys name on it.
to be clear: rhaenyra and rhaenys were powerful in their own right. they had dragons and were a part of the royal dynasty with claims to the throne. their power is theirs. it is derived from them.
alicent’s power is derived from the power of the men she is related to. that’s literally what the queen dowager title means. her influence is dependent on if the men in her life and her children listen to her. they don’t have to, and many characters don’t listen to her in the book, which is why i say she wasn’t the most grievously declawed.
it’s also hilarious that this person considers the queen dowager position to be the most powerful position in the greens court. they must have never read a cersei chapter as she faces her loss of power, which showcases the fickle nature of the power women hold in the westerosi patriarchy.
the correct sequence of power in the greens court is: the usurper king. then the hand. then the princes, specifically the usurper kings brothers, and then the queen consort, as they have dragons and claims to the throne. then the lords who can call on armies and fleets and have coffers that run deep. then the queen dowager, who has little influence outside of kings landing and therefore not as much influence in court as others.
the case the screenshotted post tries to make is that non-targ women’s positions aren’t advanced by rhaenyra being queen, which, as i pointed out above, is not true, nor is it what rhaenyra is fighting for. rhaenyra fought for her throne, which she had a legal claim to. that’s all. many houses joined her instead of joining the usurpers because of many different reasons, but, imo, three of the most important reasons for joining the blacks/staying neutral were 1) women’s inheritance rights (and women in general) should be respected 2) the head of the houses heir and the heirs right to inherit should be respected 3) oaths should be respected.
i also want to point out that women, most obviously targaryen women, did lose power after rhaenyra’s death and due to the concessions made to the greens and their ideology by the blacks for peace along with anti-rhaenyra propaganda that set women’s inheritance rights and the general power they could hold back by quite a lot.
and funnily enough, we see this first with jaehaera, who, while was a queen, was most likely murdered by the character who was supposed to be guarding her because no one gave a shit about a targaryen girls status and the potential consequences of killing her because they knew they could get away with it; and her death directly led to alicent’s line ending. the reality is that there were practically no consequences, as it seemed to have been easily covered up as a suicide, because the targaryens lost so much power after the dance, which directly put the targaryen women in the line of fire. if the targaryen women couldn’t be used they’d be discarded. and jaehaera, a simple girl who’s entire family was all dead besides one, and who’s father was greatly disliked by many, was an eyesore to those who wished for more power. so she was killed. brutally.
and the reason the women of house targaryen were so vulnerable? it’s because they had no claim to anything anymore! no one could try to use jaehaera for power so no greedy lords sought her favor nor did any want to protect her! and jaehaera is just the start because afterwards we get the maidens in the vault, then viserys ii is installed over daena, and then everything about naerys and her horrid husband, maekar over daenora, and eventually everything concludes with young princess rhaenys and rhaella over a hundred years later. tragic.
it’s literally downhill after rhaenyra’s death.

(Spoilers kinda for ep 45?)
Just listened to the new episode FINALLY and holy shit. I feel like this episode is so discretely monumental to both main characters, and it's so discrete because it's not really like "this is the end of an era", but rather "this is a halfway mark on a very important journey".
Of course, we have Arthur finally sort of accepting hope into his life, accepting that he is worthy of living despite himself is SO important. But also, John is genuinely such a good friend in this episode??? I always think of the pod as centered around their friendship and holy hell this is such a moment for them. I mean, he's truly empathetic! This god, whose original mentality was "I've been alive for so long and I'm so Great that nothing matters, why would your feelings matter?", is sitting with his friend and going "Arthur... this must remind you of this horrible thing" and he's just a comforting presence.
And that too! When Arthur is given the choice between an item and a truth you're expecting a little discussion between the two- but no, John is completely silent. Because now he's gained this empathy, and this love and trust for Arthur, and he understands that this is a gift entirely dedicated to Arthur for having stayed alive despite losing his child. John, who mocked Arthur for letting her die in the dream lands, who barely ever dared speak of her for like three seasons, understands this pain Arthur carries, understands the weight of Malam's first question ("a man kills a child, does homework deserve to die?")
This is a milestone for them because this is one of the first times that John's humanity isn't put into contrast with an act of monstrosity Arthur commits. They are coming to accept that they love each other, that they need each other, and John shows this through this little act of acceptance (stepping back, and letting Arthur carry this conversation despite having questions or feeling left out), and Arthur shows this through honesty and being vulnerable. Both are nothing new, but I mean come on, it's so rare to see them mixed together like this.
(I'm aware of how pretentious this sounds but I just love this episode so much. This season is so gut wrenching but so soft, I love it, and I'm not one to theorize, so I just like pointing things out :D )

There's only one person I truly hate with all my being
#and its some random bitch from the internet#fuck you jackal#talking about how I started hating him would require TRIGGER WARNINGS.#he almost made me fail my freshman ELA class because I had to spend all hour comforting my friends who he hurt#then all was forgiven because “he's a kid! he can change!” i never forgave him and he never truly changed#he tried to tell lies about me to my friends#and. for context. this was on discord#it was a community where I was one of the 3 pillars of it. and I'm close with the other 2.#me C and H were the people people wanted to be friends with. or wanted to *be*. we were the top 3 of everyone! and im not being conceded.#twas a small community#I was known for being skilled! but also. people thought I was kind. (some people thought I was bossy because I was kinda strict)#< (strict being I don't tolerate bullying or slurs at any capacity.#but so. when Jackal lied to H. H knew it was bullshit.#anyways Jackal stuck around somehow even tho everyone KNEW. The Jackal Situation was an ARC in that server.#anyways C made Jackal a mod over a year later bc la-de-da-de-da people can change~ and he wasn't a dick. for about 5 minutes.#he got fired today and i was fucking ECSTATIC#I hate him#he thinks hes hot shit. he's hot garbage is what he is#he's so tone deaf and abused power constantly#i never stepped in because I have such a strong hatred that i can never be fair to him again#im permanently against him. he'll never ever gain any respect from me.#he lied. he baited us. he made my friends spend so many sleepless nights crying. he tried to make them die by saying theyd go together.#i saw through it.#anyways I like to believe I have a good judge of character bc he always made me uneasy#he gifted me nitro and was polite before baiting us. but i was like. ehhhh. what's wrong w him?#anyways he's a pissed off bastard now#anyways heres some previous life drama hooray

i think if you read about the dance of the dragons, and your sole takeaway from that was that misogyny is bad, i don’t think you fully grasp what you read. is it very prevalent? yes, of course! but is it the only takeaway you should walk away with? i don’t think so. because you’re not realizing that a war between house targaryen would happen regardless. it wouldn’t matter if everyone kept their vows and stayed loyal to rhaenyra, it wouldn’t matter if her throne wasn’t usurped. a war between targaryens would happen regardless. it wouldn’t matter when it happened, or why. it just would, because power was the motivation for both factions. the desire for revenge and power started the dance, and it eventually burnt the realm. it killed the very thing that gave them such power, wiped out the very thing that allowed the conquerors to even set foot on westeros: dragons. and it was their children who paid for their sins. they are their own demise, and they caused their own decline in power until they are now nearly extinct.

i saw someone on reddit say that turnabout revolution sucked because apollo had pretty much no reaction to watching jove's last moments compared to his breakdown when he found out dhurke was dead and like. yeah man. he literally says, earlier in the case, that he never really gave enough of a shit about jove to ask about him because he never knew him and considered dhurke his dad ("[...] Plus, I always thought of Dhurke as my dad, so I never really brought it up."/"(My real dad... I was never really interested in learning about him. [...])"). he got curious enough about him when dhurke gave him the photo to ask for whatever details they knew but he still didn't KNOW the guy at all. why would he have the same reaction to his final moments as discovering that the man who raised him was dead.

If yuo still care abt jimmy cutting himself do u think he ever carved someone (curly)'s name into his body
Sorry is this too dubious to ask on tumblr dot com i habe no idea
i don’t think so tbh. jimmy already blatantly doesn’t like even the hint of being “beneath” someone, i feel he’d consider brandishing someone else’s name (curly or otherwise) like that to be a declaration of submission/ownership and he’d HATE that. he’s definitely considered it at least once though

Louis🤝Daniel
Depends. Are you gonna kill me? // I told my editor I was meeting with the, uh, most dangerous man in the world.
almost gets killed, invites him in // almost gets killed, accepts the invite freaks love how neither Louis nor Dan got reassured lol
Where's your coffin? You're standing in it. I have to be very careful whom I let in. 😭 u sure bout that?
this low-key works both ways
The king lay awake and listened with awe as Scheherazade told her first story. The night passed by, and Scheherazade stopped in the middle. The king asked her to finish, but Scheherazade said there was no time, as dawn was breaking. So the king spared her life for one day so she could finish the story the next night.
Once Louis finishes his suicide letter, Dan publishes the book:
Well, what do you think will happen to Mr. du Lac when you publish this book, when the other vampires of the world get their hands on it? (...) They will make their way to Dubai. They will scale the sides of this building, force their way inside, and paint the walls with his blood. You are chronicling a suicide.
Louis is both the king and Scheherazade, his own executioner and a storyteller. my life goes as far as the length of my story.
Daniel and the one thousand and one nights with the Vampire. as long as you carefully listen to his tales, as long as he doesn't grow bored with you, maybe you'll get to see the sunrise.
If you're willing to ask your questions and then listen, which is your job. Yes. Good. So… your question. Um… What happened next?
