Inflection, Context, and Elven: Lavellanâs Veilguard Ending (romance state)
Lately, Iâve seen quite a bit of criticism directed at a romanced Lavellan on my dash - particularly in the Veilguard ending, interpreting her as needy, egotistical, or entitled.
And I am wondering: Did we watch the same ending? (I find it fascinating how differently people interpret the same moments - such a reflection of the human experience.) And I couldn't help myself! I felt compelled to share my interpretations so I punched this out the last few days.
The sticking point seems to be Lavellanâs words, especially the ones spoken in Elven.
It seems like a common interpretation of Lavellanâs words here are:Â
âIt wonât be terrible if youâre with me.â (Implying possessiveness or entitlement - and that she alone will make it better.)
The gameâs delivery offers no inflection on any word though. For me, itâs always been:Â
âIt wonât be terrible if youâre with me.âÂ
Itâs subtle, but very different. This is just one micro-example of how much nuance is packed into the dialogue in the Veilguard ending. These lines shouldnât be taken in isolation - especially not the Elven ones. They should be understood in the context of what Solas says to Lavellan in Elven just before, and beyond that, within the history established in Inquisition and Trespasser.
Indulgent Solas x Lavellan post ahead.
Note: I respect and appreciate all Solas ships and I will never post negativity towards other interpretations in this space. Everyone deserves to enjoy their creativity and find joy in their community. Thereâs more than enough Solas to go around. As for Lavellanâs portrayal in VG, it's not perfect. I understand the devs had the impossible task of balancing every interpretation of her. Some dialogue between Rook and Lavellan took me out of gameplay a bit. But I recognized then they had to condense countless versions of her into one, and perfection wasnât possible. In general I have honest criticisms about the game but try to keep my posts positive overall.
Still here? Excellent. (And sorry, it's another long post.)
"Elven is often a game of intents, not direct mapping of phonetic meaning." The language doesnât rely on straightforward translations of sounds or words into specific meanings. Instead, it operates on a deeper level, where intent and context carry as much weight.
Earlier in the game, when Solas confronts Elgarânan, he says: âI must speak to you in this tongue. It seems Elven is beyond your grasp.â This insult implies that Elgarânan has lost the ability to understand the nuanced, metaphorical nature of the language. Elven relies on shared understanding, rhythm, intent, to convey its full meaning. By Lavellan and Solas choosing to speak Elven to each other it's an acknowledgement of their shared understanding - a connection rooted in their history going back to Inquisition.
Which is why I embrace it in my interpretations.
I disliked that Veilguard kept out the Elven words and left only the English translations in. They can be found here: (Elven Language - Dragon Age Wiki)Â But for funsies, let's take Lavellanâs actual Elven dialogue and translate it literally: Banal nadas. Ar lath ma, vhenan. We already know from Inquisition that Banal nadas translates roughly to "Nothing is inevitable" - the same phrase Solas uses when confronting the Nightmare Demon. So Lavellan is saying: "Nothing is inevitable. I love you, my heart."Â The gall of this woman!Â
Since I do my best to keep my posts playing in the gameâs sandbox, Iâm going to just look at what the game tells us the translations are and not get into actual translations (others have done that far better than I ever could). There are some great fandom language resources linked at the end of this post.Â
Let's start where Lavellan enters and speaks in the common tongue:Â
This is personal and expansive. On one level, sheâs speaking as someone Solas has wronged, reminding him of the pain heâs caused her directly. But on another, sheâs channeling the voices of countless others whose lives were affected by him and who will be shattered by his actions. Itâs a challenge that blends her role as both an individual and the Inquisitor.
Itâs also not a condemnation. Lavellan doesnât lash out or accuse him of being irredeemable. Instead, she questions him, cutting through to reach the man beneath. Sheâs speaking to Solas (wisdom).
"Vhenan" is acknowledging his love for her but itâs also symbolic of his heart, the part of himself heâs buried and tried to ignore, suddenly reappearing. Solas has spent much of his journey detached and isolated, removing his heart metaphorically to push forward with his plans without the weight of emotional ties. Lavellanâs presence makes it impossible for him to keep it hidden. His heart is right there, exposed and speaking. And the ellipsis - so many words unsaid.
Immediately Solas looks down (I read it as shame). Itâs a reaction back to what he said in Trespasser: that he would not have her see what he becomes. And yet, here she is. She sees him, the terrible path he has chosen, the blood on his hands, the awful things he has done, and what heâs about to do. In that moment, his shame is palpable - because Lavellan is one person he couldnât bear to face in this state.Â
And Lavellan doesnât hesitate. Her next words are as much about holding him accountable as they are about reminding him that there is still another path.Â
This isnât some starry-eyed, naĂŻve Inquisitor weâre dealing with (at least mine isnât). Lavellan is fully aware at this point. But her stance is clear: no one is beyond redemption, not even the Dread Wolf himself. And she wasnât the only one â this message is repeated throughout the game by others.Â
Her words challenge the belief that has kept Solas shackled to his path. Heâs convinced himself that his guilt and mistakes are too great, that thereâs no turning back, and that the only option is to see his destructive plans through to the bitter end.
She doesnât beg or demand or frame it in a way thatâs grand and sweeping â she simply says âyouâre wrong.â Â
Sheâs not trying to erase his mistakes or pretend they donât exist. She's saying, Yes, youâve done terrible things, but that doesnât mean youâre beyond the reach of change.
Lavellanâs journey as Inquisitor began with the Anchor - a mark born of Solasâs mistakes and choices. From the moment she touched his orb (yes, it sounds dirty), her path became entwined with his. This isnât Lavellan selfishly claiming Solasâs path; itâs an acknowledgment that their journeys have run parallel.
Their connection was forged long before either fully understood its implications. Lavellanâs work to stabilize Southern Thedas mirrors Solasâs aim to restore a broken world, including the burdens of being forced to take on titles and labels. She is revealing her own struggles with devastating, blood-soaked choices - choices that, like his, have carried profound consequences.
Solas believes heâs been walking this path alone, but Lavellan shows him she's been walking alongside him this whole time. Now, as their paths converge again, this is a reminder of the power of connection and the burdens theyâve both borne. He's actually not alone.
Her words also carry an unspoken promise: she is ready to continue to bear the consequences with him. She knows the road ahead is painful and fraught with difficulty, but she is steadfast.
Why do I feel that people sometimes forget Lavellanâs role as Inquisitor? She wasnât defined by Solas; she was the leader of a powerful military and political organization, forced to make horrible decisions. Whether you choose the mages or templars in Inquisition, you doom thousands to torment and death. The Empress of Orlais can live or die based on the Inquisitorâs choices. And if youâre like me and made the wrong calls on the Dalish clan war table operation, her own clan can be murdered and wiped out. (Yes, Iâm still haunted by that moment.) Her hands have blood on them too. This makes me wonder: does some criticism of the Solas/Lavellan romance stem from failing to see Lavellan as her own person? I love Lavellan for who she is as the Inquisitor - not because of Solas. Likewise, Solas is fascinating on his own. Their romance is one layer of the story, not the foundation of either character. Sometimes it feels like there are even some Solas/Lavellan lovers who have a tendency to overlook the depth and individuality of both characters outside of their romance.
Solasâs statement is a raw admission of all the guilt he carries for his deceptions and the pain he has caused her - lying to her about his identity, betraying her trust - not just as the Inquisitor, but as a person he loves.
His words are not an attempt to seek forgiveness but an acknowledgment of the truth - no matter how painful it is for them both. He knows his choices have caused devastation to the world and to her specifically. He's exposing the full weight of his dual burden: the grand, world-altering consequences of his plans and the personal betrayal of the woman he loves, who trusted him.Â
Perhaps, on some level, he hopes that reminding Lavellan of his lies and treachery will convince her to abandon him, sparing her further pain. His guilt and self-loathing are so entrenched that the idea of being forgiven - or even supported â either confounds him or terrifies him.
But Solasâs confession is not just a shield to push her away. Itâs also an invitation for her to see him - not the wise, compassionate companion she knew, but the flawed, broken man beneath.
This moment to me shows that Solas still values Lavellanâs understanding (we also saw it in his letter to her). He doesnât diminish the weight of his actions but wants her to see the cost of his deception - not just for her, but for himself. To Solas, his betrayal is unforgivable.Â
And yet - this "selfish" woman dares to forgive him anyway.Â
Forgiveness is an act of wisdom because it requires understanding - and she reflects that wisdom right back at him.
"All you have to do is stop" is heavy with meaning. Yes, on the surface, itâs a plea to stop tearing down the Veil, to reconsider the destruction. But itâs also a plea for him to stop running, to stop isolating himself, and to stop punishing himself for his failures. Sheâs asking him to step out of the shadow of his self-loathing and see that thereâs another way forward, not by demanding or commanding, but by offering him compassion (forgiveness). (Cole, I miss you.)Â
But Solasâs guilt and self-loathing run deep.
With these words, Solas apologizes to his heart - hardening it once more. For a moment, it had softened, cracked open. But he shuts the door.
The bow that accompanies his words is loaded. A bow carries layers of meaning depending on context - reverence, respect, gratitude, apology, greeting or farewell, a spiritual act, acknowledgment, loyalty, mourning, or even a romantic gesture. Solasâs bow can mean all of these.Â
He is physically reinforcing the gravity of his apology. Itâs a solemn moment. He is bowing to her strength, to all she has endured because of him. And when he calls her "vhenan," it is personal. It's an apology to her and to his own heart for not choosing the life he wanted to have with her.  â...to stay by your side as Solas...as I wanted.â Â
The bow also carries guilt. He is acknowledging the pain heâs caused and humbling himself before her. And his eyes in the animation during this moment â I saw haunted, tormented, tired eyes â the eyes of a man grappling with the weight of his choices and the thought that he cannot accept redemption, even if itâs offered freely.
Time for a an indulgent moment - a bow can also symbolize acceptance. What if, in that moment, itâs not just an apology? What if itâs Solas saying, âYouâre right. You have walked this path with me. I acknowledge that.â The bow could be a tacit agreement - a recognition of a future with her. What if heâs asking: Iâm sorry, but I canât stop, are you still coming with me? And Lavellanâs eyes right after? She looks down, like sheâs contemplating this - what if he tears the Veil down? What happens next? What do I do? Anyway, maybe I indulged with this thought a little too much. Â
But, as Iâve said before, it takes a village to stop a Solas. Cue Morrigan and Mythal - but Iâm not diving into that dialogue rabbit hole in this post. Â
But this scene with Mythal is important. Lavellan has just watched the man she loves completely crumble in front of Mythal. Heâs bent over in grief/pain, utterly vulnerable. She hears him say, in anguish, âThe things that I have done.â She sees him lift the dagger - perhaps to surrender it, to shield himself from Mythal, or even as a plea to Mythal to end his torment. Whatever the intent, Lavellan is witnessing the rawest, most broken Solas. His guilt is overwhelming, and this is the first time sheâs truly seeing the full weight of it laid bare (as is Rook). Itâs a moment of heavy sadness for her â and for us as players.Â
This scene seems to have created a universal understanding among players who love Solas, regardless of who you ship Solas with. We are all witnessing Solas in this moment of pure vulnerability. Letâs honor that shared empathy.Â
Solas is bent over with the emotional collapse of centuries of obligation and guilt coming to the surface. Mythalâs departure leaves Solas vulnerable, stripped of the purpose that has guided him for so long. He is alone in his pain.
For Lavellan, can you imagine the helplessness? All she can do is offer her presence, understanding, and faith in him afterward. That might feel like so little in the face of such immense pain, but itâs all she has to give.Â
Where Mythalâs words, spoken in the common tongue, are authoritative and final, Lavellanâs are intimate and personal. Her choice to speak Elven reflects her desire to meet Solas where he is - connecting with him on an intimate level.
Only after Mythal has left him exposed - that Lavellan uses the Elven language. In this moment, stripped of his defenses, he is finally open to hearing and feeling the full significance of the words and their intent.
Lavellanâs words challenge the notion that fate is immutable or inevitable. When she says, âthere is no fate...,â she isnât diminishing everything else in favor of her love; sheâs rejecting the tyranny of inevitability. Her words assert that choices - rooted in love, connection, and shared purpose - have the power to shape their path forward. She reframes love as a force just as powerful as fate, capable of creating meaning and direction where there once seemed to be none.
Atonement
And at this point? Lavellan has no idea what Solas will do next. None of them do. But the combined efforts of Rook, Lavellan and Morrigan get through to him. Because Solas makes a choice - a monumental choice. He binds himself to the veil, committing to atonement. Atonement is a powerful, active word. It evokes the gravity of recognizing wrongdoing and the courage to address it. His decision to seek restoration with the Titans, to deal with the Blight, to return to where it all began, reflects the depth of his remorse and his willingness to rebuild the balance he disrupted â from the beginning.Â
Solas equates atonement with isolation, believing that his punishment must be borne alone. To him, atonement requires severing ties, including the possibility of love. He doesnât ask Lavellan to join him because he cannot conceive of burdening her with the weight of his choices and the path he must walk.
But Lavellanâs words - once again - challenge that. She offers him the possibility that his actions, no matter how devastating, do not erase the love and faith others still have in him. This is an invitation.
She's also being vulnerable here. Sheâs offering herself to him, knowing full well that he still might say no. A risk sheâs willing to take.Â
He doesnât try to shut her out or push her away this time. Instead, he shifts the focus - he needs her to understand the gravity of the path they are about to walk. His response reflects his own vulnerability as well, he wants her to know what sheâs choosing, but he canât bring himself to reject her offer outright.Â
Solas responds in Elven - his acknowledgment of their shared understanding and their entire relationship and journey that has shaped them.
His words also mark a turning point: for the first time, Solas allows Lavellan her agency. Throughout their relationship, he has taken her choices away. He broke off their relationship in Inquisition. He vanished after Corypheusâs defeat, leaving her no say in it all.
And he knows this! During their confrontation in Trespasser, when Lavellan demands answers, he justifies his deception with, âAnd what would you have had me say? That I was the great adversary in your peopleâs mythology?â Her cutting reply, âI would have had you trust me!â lands with devastating clarity. His face falls, struck by the hard truth: the man who values freedom has stripped hers away. And he's going to do it again.
This moment in Veilguard feels like a callback to that. Lavellan is asserting her choice. And this time, Solas doesnât take it from her.
By framing his destination in such stark, "terrible" terms, Solas isnât pushing her away out of cruelty. Heâs laying bare the enormity of what lies ahead, warning her of the peril while giving her the freedom to choose for herself. Itâs his way of ensuring she understands the stakes.
Solas is doing what she requested long ago - trusting her - and what a choice to place that trust in. Heâs entrusting her to make an informed decision about stepping onto a path that could shape the future of Thedas. He is trusting Lavellanâs strength and resiliency. And in trusting her, Solas reveals a quiet, unspoken truth: he doesnât want to face this journey alone. By even presenting the choice, he reveals a quiet hope that she might go with him, despite everything.
To me, what makes this moment so achingly beautiful is the duality in his expression. His eyes seem to plead two things at once: âI donât want to put you in harmâs way,â and âI canât deny wanting to be with you.â Thereâs a raw vulnerability in the way he looks at her.
âIt wonât be terrible if youâre with me.âÂ
Lavellanâs response is a direct challenge to Solasâs warning. He tells her the path ahead will be awful - because of him. But she counters, saying that itâs because of him that it wonât be. This isnât her forcing herself into his journey or suggesting that she alone will make it better. Instead, itâs her way of expressing that his presence will give her the strength to face whatever lies ahead. Sheâs trying to ease his mind, while also signaling her willingness to trust him again.
At the same time, her words acknowledge the weight of Solasâs suffering, offering herself as a partner to bear that burden together. She isnât dismissing the risks or downplaying the severity of whatâs to come - sheâs choosing to stand beside him, fully aware of the challenges ahead.
Itâs not about personal gain; itâs about shared resilience. Lavellanâs focus is on what they can endure together, not on what she might receive from the journey.
And since the Fade reflects emotions, as many have pointed out, their combined trust and love could manifest in ways neither of them can predict. Their bond has the power to shape not just their path but the very world around them.
This declaration is past, present and future; itâs a reaffirmation of their bond, a recognition that theyâve been walking the path of the dinanâshiral together all along. Itâs future focused - she is offering to shoulder the burden with him going forward. Â
Sheâs also telling him that she won't abandon him, no matter how hard the road ahead may be.Â
And at the end of the day, she's a woman who still loves him. What does Prince Lir say in The Last Unicorn? "I love whom I love."
I've never interpreted Lavellan as someone sitting by a window for ten years, writing sad poetry and sighing into the wind, longing for Solas. Sheâs been busy - rebuilding a fractured world, navigating political fallout, and seeking understanding. Lavellanâs love for Solas isnât blind devotion; sheâs holding onto the possibility of redemption and the deep impact he had on her life. In my world state, Lavellanâs clan is wiped out. The people of the Inquisition have become her family, the ones she fights for and protects. And indirectly, Solas gave her that family. Despite the pain heâs caused, her love for him reflects the complexity of her journey - one defined not by a single relationship, but by hope, resilience, and the connections sheâs forged along the way.
Lavellan then leans in to kiss him, and Solas allows himself to be drawn in. This moment is acceptance - a silent vow, a promise sealed in their shared vulnerability. Itâs an intimate connection forged in front of those who have just witnessed the emotional storm that brought them to this point, as if to say, âThis is where we stand, together.â
While I wonât dive into fly-cam images (you can find some here), there are some tender subtle details: the way he caresses her hands with his thumbs, the way he holds onto her one hand as she pulls away, as if heâs not ready to let go. But I promised to stay within game constraints.
And then Solas turns to Rook and says, âThank you.â
Solas doesnât thank Rook when he hands them the dagger, nor when heâs preparing to walk into the Fade. He says it after the kiss. Make of that what you will but Rookâs is symbolic for me, especially after thinking about this ending a bit.
In thanking Rook, Solas acknowledges not only their actions but also their understanding of the connection he shares with Lavellan. Rook, transformed by their own relationships and the bonds theyâve formed throughout their journey, embodies the themes that have always defined Dragon Age to me: connection, fellowship, community, love, and redemption. These games (again, for me) have always been about how people, despite their flaws and struggles, can come together to make the impossible possible.
Rookâs symbolism in the redemption ending feels like the culmination of this ethos. They represent how even those who begin on the periphery of great events can become central to forging bonds and creating change. Solasâs gratitude is for Rook's empathy, their recognition of the importance of connection, and their role in bringing these threads of love and redemption together. I'll go cry now.
And off they go into the Fade.
The Final TranslationÂ
"With Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain dead, and the Inquisitor finally reunited with her true love, it looked like one of the biggest stories the world had ever seen was finally drawing to a close."Â Â
Varricâs narration ties the ending image back to the connection between Inquisition and Veilguard. Inquisition is the Inquisitorâs story; Veilguard is Rookâs. Solas serves as the thread linking them. Varric frames this moment through Lavellanâs perspective, narrating the story like one of his novels - not to diminish Solas, but to highlight the Inquisitorâs journey. After all, Veilguard wouldnât exist without Inquisition. Rook wouldnât be working with Varric or searching for Solas if not for the Inquisitor.
As much as I would have loved a deeper focus on Solas, Veilguard wasnât his story. If Inquisition is the Inquisitorâs story and Veilguard is Rookâs, this ending is a shared culmination: for a romanced Lavellan, itâs the personal resolution of her journey; for Rook, itâs recognition of their critical role in saving Thedas.
Okay, indulgence over - whew, that was long! I really need to practice shorter posts.
In the end, those who dislike this romance or this ending probably always will. Thatâs fine; I just wanted to share my interpretations because I genuinely love this story for all its complexity.
To everyone who made it to the end of this post - thank you for joining me in my indulgence. May your own Solas ships continue to bring you joy and inspiration.

2024 fandom review
Ty for tagging me @willesredlights @phneltwrites @grounded-parasocial <3
This is going to be a mishmash of formats I've seen, so thanks everyone for giving me ideas
Fics written
I started watching and writing YR this year, so 2024 has really been huge for me in returning to fandom and fic writing. I wrote 27 works (plus tumblr ficlets) and 117k words, by far the most I've written!
First fic posted in 2024: You Kill Me (WIP) 2024-02-06
My love letter to Young Royals. Anyone who has read this, thank you and sorry, it's deeply personal and my raw initial reaction to watching the show.
Last fic posted in 2024: Ghosts of Simons Past 2024-12-23
Silly little christmas fic!
Fav fic I've written: Let's take this overboard (WIP) 2024-06-25
My Mediterranean yacht AU! Ah my beloved. Thank you to everyone for showing this story love. It's still going, I'm just putting the pieces together. How do you pick a direction when you have so many?
It's been a big year of writing :) I haven't written creatively for about 9 years, so it's safe to say Young Royals and this community have ignited a creative spark I didn't know I had in me. When I was a kid my dream was to be a writer. Getting emotional here, but it's hitting me that in a way, that dream has come true in a way! I know fanfic is not technically professional writing, but in a way it's cooler - we don't get to just message our favorite "real" authors whenever we want, nor do bigger authors get to experience being in a club of writers like this! (actually I wouldn't know, but w/3).
Thank you to every single person who has sat down and read my little stories, you guys truly don't know what you have given me and how much it means.
Fics read under the cut <3
Fics read

Your Thrawn takes (concluding the debate)
From a poll I did yesterday. You can check out the post on my profile. Iâm tempted to do a longer one to get a more accurate result⌠but thatâs it for now! Thanks for participating.
100% people
No character, unless theyâre a pure villain, is fully immoral. Itâs an interesting viewpoint to take on a character like Thrawn who has undoubtedly done moral actions. Perhaps you view something he did as so immoral it negotiated all of this for you?
Another thing that people seem to not realise: âgood moralsâ and âgood characterâ are not synonymous. If somebody tells you a character that you like has done bad things, donât take it personally! Nuance is what makes characters interesting. I love characters like Maul and Mahito (jjk) purely because they are completely selfish and atrociously evil. Iâm not gonna get sad if someone says, âhow can you like them theyâre evil?â A huge reason why I like them because theyâre evil. Duh. Characters like that are fascinating. That person does not understand the implications of characters as storytelling tools (another reason I would argue itâs so important to analyse critically - youâll take everything personally otherwise and not be able to appreciate this). Maybe you can help them realise that the character isnât fully immoral, but is actually an anti-villain or an anti-hero. By having these discussions properly (instead of just getting annoyed and shutting them down) we will realise that, wow, 80% of people have the same view (thatâs most of you).
Iâm repeating myself again here, but Iâd also like to stress the importance of expectations when people post about a story or character. Somebody who makes a post about one particular aspect of a story or character that leans towards more moral or immoral is probably not going to give a balanced judgement of the entire work or characterisation. Youâll realise by responding that, oops, they actually do understand everything you do, itâs just this post was about one small thing and you took it as their entire bias. My post criticising the Ascendancyâs use of child soldiers received a response generalising the fandom as people who are obsessed with analysing morality and think Thrawn is this horrific pure evil character. No⌠thatâs not what I said! (And the morality part, thatâs a bad thing?)
This annoys me people
7 people picked the last option, which does make me sad if itâs because theyâre frustrated by the type of arguments that seem to arise from this topic and donât want to engage anymore. Having these better discussions would probably help this. Hopefully they do understand the value of morality in literature analysis in general. It can be an important tool to assess whether one character is more effective than another, to illustrate the themes of your story, and much much more.
Some people view stories are purely for entertainment and not for any intellectual purpose, but I disagree and donât understand this. I would find stories unbelievably boring that way. If you disagree thatâs your personal preference, and I will not change my mind because this is mine, so DNI please.
Conclusion of the debate
The conclusion of the debate is⌠well, critical analysis (including of the moralality kind) is required to understand what really makes a character a good character.
Thrawn is such an incredibly fascinating character, I think, because of his moral ambiguity. Why does Death Note fascinate people? Take the moral debate out of Death Note and you render the entire story meaningless. There would be nothing. There wouldnât even be a story. I feel like this is obvious.
#you guys would love the death note fandom#Iâm really just repeating myself here huh#this was a very enjoyable and entertaining topic so thank you everyone for participating#I hope this was helpful#thrawn#thrawn ascendancy#Ahsoka#Ahsoka series#thrawn critical#star wars#thrawn trilogy#thrawn treason#creative writing#grand admiral thrawn#mitth'raw'nuruodo#anakin skywalker#anakin critical#darth maul#star wars critical#fandom critical#literature analysis#kind of#ahsoka critical

#so that dotd rewrite is out and i have some thoughts on it but i wouldn't know where to put them.. maybe in here bc i don't actually feel -#- like making a whole ass text post. this is coming from me as criticism and not hate.. just some crit from one fan to another if you get m#SPOILERS AHEAD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>#first off props to the team because this was obv a labor of love - 4 and a half years to make a feature long fan movie is hard work#and the animated stuff was a really nice touch and very commendable - you don't see them too often in big fanworks#in terms of the story well.. there are some things i like and some things that i don't (personally) again no hate#i'm aware this is a rewrite and boy howdy it IS a rewrite - though i am a bit sad that percy doesn't end up being the protagonist and it's#- thomas that has to play hero again.. like i kinda get it but what made the original dotd stand out was that percy was given the spotlight#so i spent an ungodly amount of time wondering when percy was gonna take charge or step into the main story to resolve the problem.. sigh#i liked that they tried to give norman more of a character bc a lot of characters do often get neglected in the series but it was kind of -#- hard to sell that for me? the twist in this rewrite was very creative and i do appreciate it but i guess it just ain't for me#âdifferentâ is ok and this is just one of many fan rewrites for this particular story#if there was something i enjoyed.. i guess the beginning was still kind of exciting because the set up was honestly like hype a bit#i liked that diesel and d10 actually got to interact face to face and there are clearer dynamics established for the diesels#and also. silverband's performances as d10 will always be fun he does a fantastic job voicing him (how d10 stole xmas will still be my fav)#my criticisms for this movie also derive from the pacing and the voice acting - i found it hard to try and understand tones sometimes -#- because the delivery felt so off.. like don't get me wrong not everyone in the fandom is a voice actor but if we're using static faces -#- for these fan works the delivery has to be a little more clear or else it'll sound like you're reading from a script.. sorry yall :"|#for the pacing i found it a bit hard to parse when some things were going on and how fast things were progressing#as well as the crashes.. that's also another thing bc i couldn't tell bc of the sfx and audio balancing - it could be better..#i wanna say. muffled voices do not substitute for a âfar awayâ/off-screen voice bc i still can't hear it :â|#there were a lot of throwbacks and references to older thomas media/movies but some of them felt a little.. much?#if this is a dotd rewrite why are we getting some parallels with tatmr.. but i digress. at least they made diesel beef with duck a bit#there's a lot more i could say but i'm keeping those to myself. at the end of the day this fan movie was hard work for everyone involved#and you can tell some of the folks were having fun in there - props to them! i'm always glad to see more fan works in the community#we've come so far we're making feature length fan stories and rewrites that's crazy! i hope to see more in the future#fauxtrainpost.txt

Trash Novel Chronicles: Love Triangles and Royal Rumbles - Leona Kingscholar x Reader
When you get isekai'd as the male lead in the novel where your favorite character, Leona Kingscholar is the second male lead, all that's left to do is rewrite the romance!
Series Masterlist
You're just an average person, doing normal human things like eating, sleeping, and, of course, staring at your poster of Leona Kingscholar for three hours straight. Totally healthy behavior. People have hobbies, right? Some knit, some jog, and youâŚ? You defend your fictional lion husband from slander on the internet. Youâre practically a digital knight in shining armor.
The story that has consumed your very soul? Oh, just your typical ClichĂŠ Villainess Academy Novel: Revenge Editionâ˘. The plot is so by-the-book, itâs basically a war crime against creativity. Female lead? Sheâs been in love with the male lead since he gave some boring welcome speech that apparently hit her so hard, her brain rewired itself into a romantic mess.
The villainess? Obviously in love with the male lead too, but her one and only goal in life is making the heroineâs existence a never-ending trainwreck of public embarrassment. And the male lead? Sweet summer child. He just wants to get his degree and avoid eye contact with all of these lunatics.
Enter: Leona Kingscholar, the second male lead. The man, the myth, the walking sarcasm machine. Heâs there purely to fuel jealousy in everyone elseâs love story, but for you? Heâs everything. The brooding, lazy, hot second male lead who rolls his eyes at every plot point like heâs just as done with this novel as you are. He has better things to do, like nap, but here he is, dragged into this mess by proximity.
If it were up to you, he and the male lead would run off together, leave the heroine and villainess to start their own hobby club about emotional devastation, and the two guys would live happily ever after in matching beach chairs somewhere.
But no. Instead, youâre stuck reading about her fawning over him while Leona is just⌠there. Existing. The only thing keeping your interest alive.
And now? Now, your loyalty to Leona Kingscholar is about to pay off. The fan event of the century is just days away. Itâs going to be glorious. A whole day dedicated to Leonaâmerch, fan contests, life-sized cardboard cutouts (which, letâs be honest, youâre ready to risk it all for). You've cleared your schedule, mentally prepared yourself for the inevitable squealing, and created a battle plan for acquiring the best merch before everyone else.
But fate? Fateâs cruel.
Youâre casually defending Leonaâs honor online as usual, battling some no-name troll who dares to claim that the male lead is "better written." (HA! You laugh in their wrong face.) But thenâwhatâs this? A an likes your tweet about Leona! And not just any author. THE ONE YOU LOVE. The serotonin shoots through you like an adrenaline shot straight to the brain.
Your heartâs racing. Youâre vibrating at a frequency only dogs can hear. You leap out of your chair like some majestic gazelleâor at least thatâs what you tell yourself as you promptly trip over the plushie army that guards your floor.
Before you know it, youâre tumbling, body flailing like a noodle, bouncing down the stairs in what feels like slow motion. The world spins. Your merch shelves mock you from the distance. You land at the bottom in a heap, your soul floating just above your body.
"Is this⌠how it ends?" you wheeze, gasping for breath, more in shock than pain. As your vision starts to fade, all you can think is: I never made it to the Leona eventâŚ.
And with that, you die. Crushed under the weight of fandom.
You wake up, and your first thought isnât the usual, âOh, Iâve been isekaiâd into a new world, how fascinating, Iâll have time to adjust in a moment of peace and reflection.â No. You wake up and it hits you like a brick: Oh no. Female lead.
But then, a beam of hope breaks through the clouds of despair and shines down on you like a heavenly spotlight: Wait. Leona Kingscholar is here.
Before you can even revel in the thought of being in the same universe as your broody lion crush, reality smacks you upside the head. Loud voices are pulling you back to the scene unfolding right in front of your very eyes.
You blink. Hold on. This is not a bedroom, and this is definitely not a private moment to gather your thoughts like in every other isekai novel. Oh no, youâve been thrown directly into the group project scene.
You know, the one where the villainess is sharpening her claws on the heroine while Leona watches from the sidelines like heâs two seconds away from a permanent nap? Yeah, youâre smack in the middle of it.
The villainess, looking as pissed off as usual, is glaring daggers at the trembling heroine, who is staring at you with those wide, teary eyes like youâre supposed to swoop in and save her from this verbal smackdown.
And thatâs when it hits you: youâre the male lead. The original goody-two-shoes, justice-loving male lead who always stepped in to defend the heroine. The one who got suckered into every clichĂŠ moment, complete with sparkles and heroic speeches about morality and blah blah blah.
Not you, though.
You take one look at the heroine. Sheâs giving you this look like youâre her knight in shining armor, expecting you to throw yourself in front of her and deliver some dramatic monologue about kindness and decency. And you? You're mentally checking out of this scene faster than the speed of light.
Nah. Youâre not about that life.
Your gaze drifts to Leona, sitting on the far side of the room, slouched over like heâs wondering why heâs being subjected to this emotional soap opera when he could be napping. His face screams "done," and honestly? Same. He meets your gaze, eyes half-lidded and bored, probably hoping youâll do the usual male lead routine and put an end to this nonsense.
But oh no, todayâs different.
You casually stroll over to where Leona is sitting, ignoring the drama unfolding behind you. With the swagger of someone who knows exactly what theyâre about to do is going to blow some minds, you hold out your hand to him. "So, uh⌠you want to ditch this disaster and go take a nap? Or maybe raid the kitchens? Iâm thinking we play hooky and pretend this never happened."
Leonaâs eyes flicker with surprise for half a second. The male lead? The goody-two-shoes-moral-compass of the entire plot? The guy who literally lived to stop drama in its tracks? Is offering to blow off this whole mess? He raises an eyebrow, smirking like the cat who caught the canary.
"Didnât think you had it in you," Leona drawls, but you can tell heâs already down for this. "Alright. Letâs go. If anyone asks, Iâm gonna say you dragged me out."
"Deal," you say, trying not to look too smug. And with that, you turn on your heel, and with Leona at your side, you head for the door, leaving behind a shell-shocked villainess and a teary-eyed heroine whoâs probably still processing the fact that her supposed knight in shining armor just dipped.
As you and Leona stroll out, you hear the villainess mutter, âWhat⌠just happened?â and you canât help but grin. You may have just turned the plot upside down, but at least youâre doing it in style.
"Hey, Leona," you say, nudging him, "think we can find some of those fancy desserts in the kitchen? Iâm starving."
Leona snorts, shoving his hands into his pockets. "If youâre buying, sure."
And just like that, the male lead and the second male lead walk off into the sunsetâor rather, the campus courtyardâhand in hand with a new mission: Avoiding all future plot nonsense at all costs.
Youâre not sure how you got here, staring at the over-the-top ball decorations like youâve stepped into a bargain bin fairytale, but hey, life has taken a weird turn lately. You, of all people, are living out the plot of a novel so clichĂŠ it makes your head hurt.
But you guess thatâs what happens when you get isekaiâd into a second-rate villainess story. The only thing missing is a glass slipper and some woodland creatures to sing with.
And of course, surprise! The ball isnât just some casual evening of sipping punch and avoiding the villainessâs death stares. No, if you donât nail the ball, you donât graduate. Because nothing says "academic achievement" like knowing how to waltz while dressed like a background character from Bridgerton.
So here you are, in ball lessons, where everyone is nervously pairing off while youâre trying not to roll your eyes into another dimension. The heroine, with her usual doe-eyed sparkle, gets paired with you first. And letâs be real: sheâs either terrible at dancing, or sheâs using this as an excuse to get you to hold her close.
But you? Oh no. Youâve read enough of this garbage to know where thatâs going, and you have zero interest in playing out the âclose embrace, sparks flying, almost-kissâ trope. Absolutely not.
As soon as the music starts, you decide itâs time to act. You let your feet stumbleâdeliberately, of courseâand flail around like youâve never seen a ballroom floor in your life. The heroine, bless her clueless heart, giggles like she thinks youâre just being cute, but youâre not about to humor this. When the instructorâs eyes lock onto you, you seize the opportunity.
"Oh no!" you say dramatically, throwing a hand over your forehead like youâre in some kind of soap opera. "Iâm so bad at this. Could someone please teach me how to dance?"
You pause, glance around the room, and then lock eyes with Leona Kingscholar.
"Leona!" you shout, loud enough that the whole room freezes. "Youâre the second prince! You mustâve had etiquette lessons, right? Teach me how to dance!"
The room collectively loses its mind. The heroine looks like youâve just slapped her with a glove and challenged her to a duel. The villainess is staring at you like youâve lost your marbles. And Leona? Leonaâs expression is somewhere between utter confusion and why me.
Leona leans back, crossing his arms, visibly annoyed. âYouâve got to be kidding me,â he mutters, but thereâs no denying the faint twitch of a smirk at the corner of his mouth when he sees the heroine and villainess get shoved into an awkward dancing pair together.
Despite his clear irritation, Leona steps forward, because letâs face it, heâs the kind of guy whoâll humor you if it means avoiding worse drama. You slide into position with him, and honestly? Youâre in heaven. You can barely focus on your feet, too busy trying to hide your grin while you imagine all the drama this is causing behind you.
Meanwhile, the heroine and the villainess are floundering around, tripping over each other like theyâve got two left feet each. The villainess is grinding her teeth, and the heroine keeps stepping on her toes. Itâs a glorious disaster.
Leona, despite his annoyance, is surprisingly good at this. Heâs leading with the kind of effortless grace that makes you wonder how someone so lazy can still be so competent at everything. Youâre definitely not staring at his sharp features while he dances, not at all.
"You do realize this is a waste of time, right?" Leona grumbles under his breath, his eyes flicking to the chaos unfolding behind you. "Why me, herbivore? You couldâve asked anyone else."
You just shrug, trying not to sound too smug. "What can I say? I have excellent taste in dance partners."
Leonaâs brow twitches like heâs torn between smirking and rolling his eyes. "Yeah, sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night." But the smirk wins out, especially when the villainess and heroine fumble yet again, nearly toppling over each other.
You glance up at him, beaming. Leona Kingscholar might be annoyed, but heâs not stopping anytime soon. And you? Youâre just here for the ride, watching the heroine and villainess self-destruct from the safety of Leonaâs arms.
Ball lessons? Piece of cake.
Youâve been doing everything humanly possible to avoid the female lead like sheâs a carrier of the medieval plague. You thought youâd be safe here, hiding behind your âIâm too busy and mysterious for romanceâ persona, but noâsomehowâthe more you avoid her, the more sheâs convinced that youâre the dark, brooding, irresistible male lead sheâs always dreamed of.
You know, the type who avoids emotional connections but secretly harbors a heart of gold. But the truth is, youâre just a guy trying to get through the day so you can swoon over Leona Kingscholar in peace.
Itâs not like youâve been subtle about it either. Youâve been dropping hints left and right, hoping the universe would give you a break and let the female lead fall in love with literally anyone else. But no. Somehow, everyone is ignoring your very obvious affection for Leona.
Itâs like youâre stuck in a tragic comedy where the female lead falls harder for you the more you try to disappear, and Leona just⌠well, heâs just living his best life, completely unaware of your internal screaming.
Take the latest tea party, for example. You were just trying to enjoy some pastries, maybe steal a glance at Leona from across the table, when the heroine decides to make her move. She picks up a delicate slice of cake and holds it out to you, eyes sparkling with that innocent-yet-hopeful look that says, âThis is our moment.â
You? Youâre not having any of that. Nope. No way. Youâre not about to be part of this rom-com narrative. So, without missing a beat, you casually take the cake from her and, in one smooth motion, turn and offer it to Leona, whoâs lounging lazily next to you, looking like heâd rather be anywhere else.
Leona raises an eyebrow at you, clearly baffled by why youâre holding out cake like heâs some sort of royal who expects to be hand-fed. âWhat are you doing?â he mutters, looking suspiciously between you and the cake.
âJust thought youâd like some,â you say with a straight face, ignoring the heroineâs stunned expression. Sheâs sitting there, fork still poised in the air, blinking rapidly like youâve just committed the greatest betrayal of the century.
Leona huffs, looking mildly irritated but mostly confused. After a pause, he shrugs and leans forward, taking a bite of the cake without even bothering to lift his own hand. âWhatever,â he mutters between chews. âTastes fine.â
You nod, satisfied. Meanwhile, the heroine looks like sheâs on the verge of tears, and the villainess is smirking in the background like sheâs about to take out popcorn and enjoy the drama.
Later that day, you find a nice, quiet spot under a tree to relax. Youâve managed to avoid any major incidents so far, and for once, youâre not being dragged into some dramatic showdown. You lie back, close your eyes, and just let yourself chill. But, of course, the universe doesnât want you to have peace.
Enter Leona.
Without a word, he flops down next to you, takes one look at your position, and decidesâout of all the places he could sitâthat your lap is the best pillow option available. You feel his head plop down on your lap like this is the most normal thing in the world. You stare down at him, completely dumbfounded, while he just closes his eyes and lets out a long, satisfied sigh.
âLeona?â you start, voice half bewildered, half amused. âYou good?â
âShut up,â he mutters without opening his eyes. âYouâre more comfortable than the grass.â
You blink at him, not sure whether to laugh or cry. Meanwhile, the villainess strolls by, spots the two of you under the tree, and comes to an immediate halt. Her face contorts into a mix of disbelief and confusion, like sheâs just witnessed something unholy. You can almost hear her mental scream of, what the hell is going on here?!
She doesnât say anything, though. Just stands there, hands clenched, before turning on her heel and storming off. You donât even care. Youâre too busy reveling in the fact that Leona chose your lap as his personal resting place. If that isnât a win, you donât know what is.
And then, of course, thereâs the infamous hallway incident. The heroineâwho, by this point, youâre pretty sure has developed some kind of radar for finding youâcomes running toward you. She trips over something (the air? her own foot? you donât know) and launches herself straight into your arms in what is clearly an attempt to trigger some rom-com, slow-motion embrace.
But you? Youâre not here for this.
With the reflexes of a seasoned avoider, you sidestep her dramatic fall, and she goes face-first into the floor. Thereâs a stunned silence as she lies there, unmoving, probably processing how she ended up eating dirt.
You glance over at Leona, whoâs watching the whole thing with a lazy smirk, clearly enjoying the trainwreck. You give him a slight nod of approval, and he just rolls his eyes, a small grin still tugging at his lips.
The villainess, standing a few feet away, is laughing her head off. Sheâs doubled over, clutching her stomach, while the heroineâs dignity is scattered all over the floor. But you? Youâre just staring at Leona, completely ignoring the chaos around you.
Somehow, despite all the madness, you canât help but think: this is fine.
The day of the big spelldrive match arrives, and the heroine has never looked more confident in her life. Sheâs decked out in her teamâs colors, standing tall at the edge of the field, waiting for you to join her in your usual spot. You know, like a loyal dog. A loyal, obedient dog who always does what she expects.
But not today.
Today, you roll up to the game decked out head to toe in full Savanaclaw merch. We're talking a custom jersey with Leonaâs name on the back, a headband, face paint, andâjust to really emphasize the pointâa Savanaclaw banner tied around your neck like youâve decided to cosplay as Captain Lion Fang.
You take your seat in the Savanaclaw section and immediately start hyping up the crowd like youâre getting paid for it. The heroine spots you from across the field and stares like sheâs watching a crime scene unfold in real-time. Meanwhile, Leonaâs already spotted you, and the smug smirk on his face tells you heâs LOVING the attention.
The game kicks off, and with each goal Leona scores, youâre going feral.
Youâre screaming your lungs out, waving your banner around like youâre auditioning for some weird mascot gig. People are looking at you like youâve lost your mind, but you donât care. This is YOUR moment.
Leona, on the field, is living for it. Every time he glances your way, he adds a little extra flair to his plays, just to make you scream louder. He scores, and youâre on your feet, jumping up and down like youâve won the lottery.
At this point, the heroine is practically catatonic. Her world is crumbling before her eyes. You can practically see her brain struggling to process what sheâs witnessing: you, her loyal supporter, decked out in Savanaclaw gear and cheering for her rival.
âI... I donât understandâŚâ she whispers, her voice trembling like sheâs been betrayed by the universe itself. âWhy arenât you cheering for us?â
You turn to her with all the nonchalance of someone whoâs just ordered fries at a drive-thru. âUh⌠Leonaâs hot?â
Itâs like you slapped her across the face with a wet fish. She stands there, frozen, her eyes wide, like sheâs witnessing the fall of an empire. "B-But... you're supposed to support me!"
Before you can reply with another devastating truth bomb, Leona casually strolls over after winning the game, looking like he just walked out of a perfume ad. His hairâs tousled, a thin sheen of sweat making him look even more annoyingly handsome. He stops in front of you, smirking like heâs been planning this moment his entire life.
"Didnât know you were my biggest fan," he drawls, voice low and lazy. âGotta say, Iâm impressed with your enthusiasm. Screaminâ my name like that⌠kinda hard to ignore.â
You open your mouth, ready to fire back with something witty, but what comes out is more of a high-pitched squeak, followed by, âHahaha, Y-Yeah⌠youâre welcome?â
And then, the words that break you: âHow âbout we celebrate with a nap?â
Your brain freezes. A nap? You? With Leona? Your heart is doing cartwheels while the rest of your organs are busy melting into a puddle. Your mouth is moving, but all that comes out is an unintelligible âUhhuhmm.â
Leona chuckles, clearly enjoying how flustered you are. He reaches out, grabbing your wrist, and starts dragging you off with himâright in front of everyone. He doesnât even care that the entire field is watching. Heâs already made up his mind.
The heroine, meanwhile, is standing there in stunned silence, her brain fully blue-screening as she watches you and Leona disappear. Sheâs still processing the Leonaâs comment when the villainess, who has been observing this whole disaster unfold, finally chimes in from the sidelines with a shrug.
âWell, as long as itâs not the heroine,â she says, flicking her hair back with an air of satisfaction. âThis is fine.â
And off you go, being dragged to a nap date youâre definitely not mentally prepared for, your face burning hotter than the sun. Leona glances back at you, that smug smirk still plastered on his face. "Youâre lookinâ a little red there. You sure youâre up for this?"
You sputter, tripping over your own words. "I-Iâm fine! Totally fine! Nap? Cool! Casual napping! No big deal!â
Leona just chuckles again, clearly entertained by how much you're floundering. âIf you say so. Just donât pass out before we get there.â
Yeah. Donât pass out. Easier said than done when the man of your dreams is casually dragging you off to nap like it's no big deal while your brain screams at you in ten different languages.
This is fine. Totally fine. Youâre fine.
Maybe.
You were sitting with Jack and Ruggie at the cafeteria, chatting about nothing in particularâwell, Jack was chatting. Ruggie was there purely because you promised to pay for his lunch. Still, youâd like to think that maybe, just maybe, he stuck around because he actually enjoyed your company. Maybe.
âSo, any tips on how to deal with midterms?â Jack asked, ears twitching as he looked at you with that wide-eyed eagerness that only first-years ever had. He was honestly like a giant puppy, trying so hard to be good.
You leaned back in your chair, doing your best impression of a wise and worldly senior, which mostly involved pretending you werenât sweating about your own midterms. âMy advice? Caffeine. And if you have the chance to sleep, take it. Oh, and donât forget to eat. I learned that one the hard way.â
Jack nodded seriously, committing it all to memory like you were passing down sacred knowledge. Meanwhile, Ruggie was on his third helping of food, barely acknowledging the conversation.
"Hey, if you're handing out wisdom, how âbout you tell me how to get free food more often?â Ruggie said between bites, shooting you a cheeky grin.
âIsnât that already your specialty?â you shot back, eyeing the mountain of food in front of him.
He just laughed. âCanât argue with that, but having backup plans never hurt.â
Before you could respond, you felt a shadow fall over the table. You looked up, half expecting it to be the heroine or some random classmate, but nope. It was Leona. Leona, who you were 99% sure had skipped class because he always skips class. And he looked⌠annoyed?
Oh no.
He ignored Jack and Ruggie completely, his sharp gaze zeroing in on you like youâd committed some grave crime. âOi, herbivore,â he drawled, hands in his pockets like this wasnât weird at all. âLetâs go.â
âGo where?â you asked, blinking up at him. Leona never approached people unless he wanted something.
âTo the tree,â he said flatly, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
âThe tree?â Jack echoed, ears perking up in confusion.
Ruggie, on the other hand, was grinning like the Cheshire Cat. âOho~ Someoneâs in demand.â
Leona shot Ruggie a look that couldâve curdled milk. âShut it, Ruggie.â
Your brain was still trying to process the situation. You were sitting here, minding your own business, giving sage advice about caffeine and survival, and now Leona was dragging you off to his tree like it was completely normal?
He didnât wait for an answer. He just grabbed your wrist, yanking you up from your seat as if this was some kind of kidnap situation, and started walking toward the courtyard.
âUhâLeona? Whatâs going on?â you asked, doing your best to keep up without tripping over your own feet.
Leona didnât even look back. âYouâre talkinâ too much. Need some peace and quiet.â
You blinked, thoroughly confused but not necessarily mad about being dragged off. Itâs just⌠âWhy am I involved in your nap plans?â
ââCause I said so.â
Wow, cryptic. You were about to ask again when you reached the tree. The infamous Leona nap spot. He plopped down against the trunk and, before you could protest, pulled you down next to him. Without another word, he stretched out andâbecause apparently boundaries didnât existârested his head on your lap.
This was⌠This was happening.
You glanced around, half expecting to see a camera crew pop out and tell you this was some elaborate prank, but nope. Leona was lounging on you like it was the most natural thing in the world, eyes already closed, arms crossed behind his head.
âUh, Leona?â
âShut up. Mâ tryinâ to sleep.â
You stared down at him, your brain short-circuiting. This was the third time this week heâd done this. Just⌠kidnapped you for a nap. What was his deal? Was your lap particularly comfortable? Did you radiate some kind of sleepy aura? What was going on here?
Meanwhile, from the distance, you spotted her. The villainess. Watching. For the third time in as many days. And you could see it. You could see the moment she put the pieces together. Her eyes widened in slow realization, her lips twitching into a smirk. She knew. She finally knew.
When Leona finally woke upâafter what felt like hours of you sitting there, too dazed to moveâyou were free. For now. He stretched lazily and gave you a casual âThanks,â as if this wasnât the most bizarre situation youâd ever been in, and you quickly scrambled away, making your way back to the dorms with your head spinning.
And thatâs when the villainess cornered you.
Oh no.
There she was, leaning against the doorframe with a knowing look, her sharp gaze trained on you like a predator sizing up its prey. You swallowed nervously. She was about to confront you about the heroine, wasnât she? This was it. This was the moment. Was she going to declare some rivalry? Challenge you to a duel? Confess to you? Make this whole thing painfully awkward?
She smiled, and it was not the evil grin you were expecting. âIâm on your side.â
You blinked. ââŚWhat?â
She pushed off the wall, stepping closer, her eyes gleaming with a new kind of intensity. âLeona. I know youâre after him.â
Your heart stopped. This was it. She was going to call you out andâwait, what did she just say?
âIâll help you confess to Leona,â she said, matter-of-factly. âOn one condition.â
You were staring at her like sheâd just sprouted wings and started speaking in tongues. âYou⌠will?â
She nodded. âYes. If you help me become more influential than that heroine, Iâll help you get Leona to notice you more.â
You blinked again, processing her words. She wanted your help to outshine the heroine, and in exchange, sheâd be your wingwoman? Wingwoman?!
You grinned, holding out your hand for a dramatic shake. âHell yeah.â
She clasped your hand, her smile mirroring yours. "Consider it a deal."
And just like that, you walked away from the most unexpected alliance of your life, fully equipped with a villainess-turned-wingwoman and a new plan to win over Leona.
Honestly? Life was getting weirder by the day.
âOkay, so just to confirm,â Ruggieâs eyes glinted with mischief as he leaned back in his chair, arms folded behind his head. âYou want us to sit through this poetry reading,â he said, drawing out the word like it was some cursed phrase, âand cheer for the villainess. And in return, I get all the food left over?â
âYup,â you nodded, trying to keep a straight face.
âAnd Jackâs here becauseâŚ?â
âI asked him nicely.â
Jack shrugged, tail flicking behind him. âIâm just here to help.â
Ruggie snorted, glancing at you with a grin. âThis better be some damn good poetry then. And the food better be worth it.â
âOh, trust me,â you said, patting Ruggie on the back. âIt will be.â
Little did you know, this was going to be a disaster of epic proportions.
The poetry reading started as expectedâwith the heroine striding up to the front of the room, practically glowing under the dim spotlight. She cleared her throat, clasped her hands dramatically, and began.
âIt was a night⌠much like tonightâŚâ
Your first instinct was to cringe, but you held it in, glancing sideways at Jack and Ruggie. Jack was doing his best to stay stoic, but you could see his ears twitching in discomfort. Ruggie had his hand over his mouth, clearly biting back laughter.
The poem continued, painfully dragging on about stars and roses and something about âdestinyâs kiss.â By the time she reached the end, there was a collective sigh of relief from the audience. You werenât even sure what you had just listened to, but you knew it wasnât good.
Jack⌠Jack was crying. You stared at him, horrified. âAre you okay?â
âItâs⌠itâs so bad,â he sniffed, wiping his eyes. âI didnât know poetry could be this bad.â
Ruggie had his face buried in his hands, shoulders shaking with silent laughter. âThis is better than I thought,â he wheezed.
You shot him a look, but even you had to admit, this was pure comedy gold. Poor Jack had no idea what hit him.
The villainess, bless her heart, was watching all of this unfold with a look of shock and confusion, but when it was finally her turn to read, she stepped up like a queen. Her voice was smooth, the words flowing like silk, and you couldnât help but be genuinely impressed. She absolutely killed it.
The plan was working perfectly. You and your crew started clapping, cheering like you were at a rock concert. Jack, who was still recovering from the emotional trauma of the heroineâs poem, clapped too, albeit more quietly.
But just as you were about to get even louder, you felt a hand on your shoulder. âOi, sit down,â Leona grumbled, pulling you back into your seat.
âWhatâ?â
He didnât offer any explanation, just kept you firmly seated next to him, his face set in a bored expression. You blinked in confusion but decided not to argue. It wasnât like you didnât enjoy sitting next to Leona⌠it was just weird.
And by the grin the villainess was sporting, it seems like everything went exactly according to plan. Both for her and you.
After the poetry reading wrapped up, you gathered the leftovers like you promised. Ruggie was already hovering around, practically drooling over the spread.
âHere, take it all,â you said, handing the basket over. âDealâs a deal.â
Ruggie beamed, clutching the food to his chest like a treasure hoard. âPleasure doing business with ya!â
Jack was much more polite, bowing his head slightly. âThanks for the notes. Theyâll be a big help.â
âAnytime,â you replied with a smile, watching the two of them head off. Ruggie was already halfway through a sandwich, talking a mile a minute, while Jack followed along, still looking like he might need therapy after the heroineâs performance.
That left you alone⌠with Leona, who had been standing off to the side, arms crossed, watching you with an unreadable expression.
âWhat?â you asked, half-expecting him to complain about something. He always had something to complain about.
âYou mind explaining what the hell that was?â
âUh⌠what do you mean?â
Leonaâs tail flicked in irritation, his eyes narrowing. âIâm talking about you, whispering and giggling with that villainess all the time. What, you after her now that you ditched the heroine?â
You blinked at him, utterly baffled. âWhat? No, of course not. Why would I be after her?â
Leonaâs jaw clenched. âYou tell me. All Iâve seen is you hanginâ around with her, whispering, plottinâ... Iâve seen how you look at her.â
It took a moment for your brain to catch up, but then it hit you like a ton of bricks.
Oh my god. He was jealous.
A slow grin spread across your face as the realization sunk in. Leona, Leona Kingscholar, was jealous. And over you.
Before you could stop yourself, you leaned forward and planted a quick kiss on his cheek. âYouâre jealous~.â
Leona froze, his eyes widening for a split second before narrowing dangerously. âWhat?â
âYouâre jealous,â you repeated, giddiness bubbling up inside you. You could barely contain your excitement. âYouâre jealous of me hanging out with the villainess!â
Leonaâs lips pulled into a thin line. âYouâre imagining things.â
âOh no, no, no,â you grinned even wider, poking him in the chest. âYouâre totally jealous!â
Leona growled, looking thoroughly annoyed now, but before he could snap back, you quickly explained. âLook, I made a deal with her. I help her become more influential than the heroine, and she helps me⌠confess to you.â
Leona blinked, taken aback, his tail flicking behind him as if processing the information. Then, in true Leona fashion, his expression shifted from irritation to smugness in record time.
âOh?â
You sighed, shaking your head. âYeah, so you donât have to worry about me chasing after anyone else.â
Leona stepped closer, his voice dropping low, that usual lazy drawl making your heart do a little flip. âGood. But just so you know, cheek kisses arenât real kisses.â
Before you could ask what he meant, Leona leaned in and kissed youâproperly kissed you. Your eyes went wide for a second before you melted into it, feeling the heat of his lips against yours. He pulled back after what felt like forever, a smirk on his face as he watched you try to catch your breath.
âThere. Thatâs a real kiss,â he murmured, his voice dripping with smug satisfaction.
You stared at him, dazed, and then a sudden realization hit you.
You left your entire life behind, all for this moment.
And you were so, so glad that stupid plushie was on the floor, because this? This was totally worth it.
The heroineâs voice was as sweet as it was grating, like sugar poured directly into your ears. She fluttered her eyelashes at you, her smile stretched painfully wide. âSo, I was thinking,â she began, twirling a lock of hair around her finger. âYou would make the perfect knight for my family! Donât you think so?â
You blinked, trying to figure out a way to escape. âUh⌠Iâm kind of busy with, you know, my own life?â
âOh, but imagine!â she gushed, not hearing a word you said. âWeâd be so close all the timeâlike, so close. You could protect me, and maybe⌠we could have a picnic under the stars? Very romantic, right?â
Your soul was trying to leave your body. You were pretty sure Jackâs ears twitched somewhere nearby, sensing your pain telepathically. And then, like a gift from the heavens, the villainessâyour beloved accomplice in all things anti-heroineâmade her appearance.
âSorry to interrupt,â she said, stepping between you and the heroine with the grace of someone who had seen this movie before and knew exactly how to cut to the good parts. âBut I need them for an urgent matter. A very important, not-at-all-romantic-but-very-necessary mission.â
You shot her a look of pure gratitude, but before she could fully rescue you from the heroineâs death trap of unwanted flirting, a shadow loomed over the scene. A very familiar shadow.
Leona.
Without saying a word, he strode up behind you and casually wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you back against his chest with an ease that had your heart skipping a beat. He rested his chin on your shoulder, his sharp green eyes fixed on the heroine.
âOh no, carry on,â he said lazily, but his tone was anything but. âIâm just here to see what my mate is up to.â
The heroine blinked in shock, her hands hovering mid-air as if she had no idea what to do with this development. âY-Your mate?â
âYeah,â Leona said, tightening his grip around you, his smirk downright feral. âSo whatever little fantasy youâre cooking up about romantic picnics or whateverâcut it out. This oneâs mine.â
You felt Leonaâs lips brush against your temple before he leaned in and, in full view of the now-utterly-horrified heroine, kissed the side of your neck. Slowly. Possessively.
You could almost hear the villainess muffling a laugh behind her hand.
The heroineâs face turned several shades of red as she stammered. âB-But Iââ
âYou,â Leona said, his tone dripping with amusement, âcan fuck right off.â
The heroine gasped, her hand flying to her chest like sheâd been physically struck. âYou canât just say that to me!â
Leona raised a brow, looking thoroughly unimpressed. âIâm literally the second prince. I can say whatever the hell I want.â
The heroine opened her mouth to argue, but then realized that, no, actually, she couldnât argue with the literal second prince staking his claim. She sputtered for a moment before storming off, no doubt to sob dramatically about her dashed romantic hopes.
Once she was out of sight, the villainess finally let out a snort of laughter. âThat was beautiful.â
Leona ignored her, his grip still firm around you as he leaned down to whisper, âNext time, you wonât need her to help you out. Just say my name, and Iâll be there to deal with the pests.â
You stared at him, a little dazed from the whole whirlwind of possessiveness, public displays of affection, and telling someone to âfuck right off.â âYou really went for it, huh?â
Leona smirked, leaning in for another kiss. âDamn right I did. And donât you forget it.â
Somewhere behind you, the villainess was still giggling. You were pretty sure this was going to be gossip for weeks.
But honestly? Totally worth it.
Graduation dayâthe moment where everyoneâs future plans would be declared, and all the chess pieces would fall into place. Or, in your case, the moment where youâd cause absolute chaos.
The grand hall was filled with eager anticipation. Everyone was dressed in their formal graduation robes, students buzzing with excitement over their new titles and responsibilities.
Leona, as expected, lounged at the back like a lion who had better things to do, half-asleep. Villainess stood tall and composed, already plotting her return to her family's estate. Heroine was in full glowing mode, ready to take her place as the beloved of the Grand Duchy.
And you? You stood at the podium, trying not to laugh. You knew what you were about to say would flip this graduation upside down.
One by one, people made their announcements.
When it was finally your turn, all eyes turned to you. The entire hall seemed to hold its breath, knowing the original male leadâyouâwas supposed to be the retainer of the heroine. It was all set, all according to plan, right?
Wrong.
You cleared your throat, glanced briefly at Leona who smirked lazily, and then made the declaration that would throw this script straight out the window. âIâve decided to serve as Prince Leonaâs right-hand man, personal secretary, and...well, whatever he needs.â
The silence that followed was glorious. Pure, dumbfounded silence.
King Falena, sitting in the front row, visibly blinked. Once. Twice. He tilted his head slightly, confusion written all over his usually composed face. âWhat?â he muttered, looking like someone just told him a desert hyena had enrolled in ballet school.
Leona, however, didnât even open his eyes. He just smirked, crossing his arms smugly. âTold ya heâd choose me,â he murmured, almost too casually for someone whoâd just stolen the original male leadâs entire plotline.
Falenaâs gaze flicked between you and Leona, still processing. Then, slowly, realization dawned. He saw that look on Leonaâs faceâthe one that said âmine, and I dare anyone to challenge it.â King Falenaâs confusion morphed into surprise and then, with the subtlety of a royal diplomat, resignation. âOhâŚâ he whispered, finally understanding. âHeâs down bad.â
Leona cracked an eye open just to catch his brotherâs expression and grinned wider, like a cat who knew exactly what kind of bird it had in its claws.
Your parents, bless them, were in the crowd with expressions of supportive confusion. Your mother was squinting as if trying to work out if this was some sort of royal prank. Your father leaned in toward her, whispering loudly enough for the entire row to hear, âItâs a royal job, right? Thatâs prestigious?â
âYeah, but⌠Leona?â your mom whispered back.
At this point, the heroine stood up, ready to throw a wrench into the works. âWait! Youâre supposed to be myâ"
Before she could finish, the villainess, in all her dramatic glory, made her move. With the grace of a queen and the audacity of a mastermind, she stepped right up to the heroine, flipped her luxurious hair, and said, âActually, I was going to ask you out.â
You blinked. Wait, what?
The entire room gasped. You could almost hear heads snapping toward the villainess like a collective whip crack.
Heroineâs mouth opened and closed like she was a fish drowning in air. âIâwhat?â
âDinner. Candlelight. Maybe a picnic. You and me, a date. Sound good?â The villainess winked with such charm that even the professors in the back were wide-eyed.
Heroine blinked rapidly, as if trying to reboot her brain. âUh⌠sure?â she squeaked, still reeling from the fact that her entire romantic arc had just gotten hijacked.
You stared at the villainess in pure confusion. âWhat just happened?â you whispered, looking at her for an explanation.
The villainess simply turned to you with a mischievous grin, giving you a sly thumbs-up like this had been part of her master plan all along.
You were still processing the fact that you were witnessing the greatest plot twist of all time. You returned a half-hearted, bewildered thumbs-up, unsure if this was a win or not.
Meanwhile, the professors up front were clearly on their last thread of patience. The head of the academy rubbed his temples, sighing deeply as if this whole day had aged him a decade. âThatâs it,â he said, voice strained with exhaustion. âEveryoneâs graduated. Just...leave. Please.â
And with that, the ceremony abruptly ended. You couldnât help but laugh at the professorâs exasperation as the crowd started to disperse, still buzzing with gossip.
Leona slid up next to you, his hand casually resting on your waist as you walked out of the hall together. âSo, my right-hand man, huh?â
You shrugged. âFigured I might as well make it official.â
Leona smirked, leaning down to murmur in your ear, âJust donât expect me to go easy on you.â
You rolled your eyes, but your smile betrayed you. âWouldnât dream of it.â
And then he kissed you. In front of everyone.
King Falena, witnessing this public display of territorial claims, just shook his head with a resigned sigh. âWell, as long as itâs officialâŚâ he muttered, casting an approving glance toward you. âCongratulations, I guess.â
Your parents were still in shock, but when they saw that it was a royal seal of approval, they immediately switched gears. âA royal job!â your mom whispered excitedly. âThatâs so prestigious!â
With that, Leona tugged you away from the chaos, his arm never leaving your waist as you walked toward the exit. You glanced back one last time to see the heroine still staring blankly at the villainess, who had now looped her arm around her like it was the most normal thing in the world.
The head of the academy, now red in the face, shouted after you as you reached the door, âI SAID EVERYONE GO, FOR THE LOVE OF THE GREAT SEVEN!â
You walked out into the sunlight, trying not to laugh, while Leona leaned in, his lips brushing your ear as he murmured smugly, âLooks like youâre stuck with me.â
And honestly? You wouldnât have it any other way.
It was a day like any other, except you were meeting the villainess in her newly acquired estate. She had officially taken over as the head of her family, and the new title suited her all too well. The whole place screamed, I am in charge, with a side of donât even think about challenging me unless you want to cry in public. You admired the aesthetic.
The villainess greeted you with her usual regal flair, sweeping into the room like sheâd been born to dominate itâwhich, to be fair, she had. She offered you tea, which you politely declined, sensing that this wasnât just a casual catch-up.
"So, what's new with you, Lady Villainess?â you asked, leaning back, fully expecting some grand declaration about her political conquests or business victories.
She smiledâa dangerous, knowing smile that made you immediately suspicious. "Well, I wanted to tell you something rather... unexpected."
You raised an eyebrow. Unexpected? Coming from her? That had to be good.
"I'm dating the heroine," she said casually, sipping her tea as if she hadn't just dropped the biggest plot twist since the whole 'villainess takes over' arc.
You nearly choked on absolutely nothing, mouth hanging open in sheer disbelief. "Wait. What?"
She smiled serenely, her expression the perfect picture of innocenceâwhich made it all the more ridiculous. âYes, darling. The heroine and I are officially a couple.â
You blinked. âThe same heroine who couldnât tell a poisoned apple from a regular one if her life depended on it?â
âThe very same.â
âThe one who gets lost in her own estate if she turns too many corners?â
âYes, that one.â
You couldn't help it. The sheer absurdity of the situation hit you, and you burst out laughing. "Oh, that is rich. How in the world did that happen?â
The villainess leaned back, looking thoroughly pleased with herself. âOh, it was simple, really. I realized I was always drawn to her... naivetĂŠ. And once I stopped trying to sabotage her every move, well, things just fell into place.â
You were still laughing, shaking your head in disbelief. âI mean, donât get me wrong, Iâm happy for you two, but this is the best thing Iâve heard in weeks.â
The villainess gave you a mock glare. âDonât act so surprised. Iâve always had impeccable taste.â
âOh, impeccable taste, huh?â you teased. âI just didnât expect it to lead you straight to a walking ball of sunshine.â
âWell, someone needs to keep her from wandering into traffic.â
Still snickering, you stood up. âAlright, alright, I get it. Youâre a saint for dealing with her.â
âI know,â she sighed dramatically, âbut love makes us do ridiculous things.â
"Tell me about it," you muttered, still amused. You waved goodbye and promised to catch up later, your mind reeling from this new, absolutely hilarious development.
When you got back to the palace, you found Leona lounging in his usual spot, sprawled out on a couch like a lion that had just taken over the whole savannah. He barely glanced up as you walked in, already sensing the amused energy radiating off you.
âYouâre grinning like an idiot,â he muttered, rolling his eyes. âWhat happened?â
You plopped down next to him, barely containing your laughter. âYou wonât believe this. The villainess is dating the heroine now.â
Leonaâs eyes flicked open, and for a split second, he looked like he didnât believe you. Then, slowly, a smirk spread across his face as he processed the information. âYouâre messing with me.â
âNope. Dead serious. Theyâre a couple now. In love.â You leaned in, grinning. âThe villainessâice queen herselfâis head over heels for Miss Pure Sunshine.â
Leona actually chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. âWell, Iâll be damned. Never saw that one coming.â
âI know, right? Itâs the most chaotic thing ever, and I am living for it.â
Leonaâs smirk turned into a full-on grin, which was rare enough to be considered a national treasure. He shifted, sitting up slightly. âYou think weâll get an invite to the wedding?â
You snorted. âOh, you bet. Iâm going to be front row just to see how she manages to keep the heroine from accidentally setting her own dress on fire.â
Leonaâs laugh rumbled low in his chest, and he reached out, grabbing your wrist. âCome here,â he ordered, tugging you toward him.
âWhat? No, Iâve got work to do,â you protested weakly, but your protests didnât mean much when he effortlessly pulled you into his lap.
âWork can wait. This is more important,â he grumbled, wrapping his arms around you in a possessive hug that made it very clear you werenât going anywhere.
You sighed, leaning into him. âYou just want to cuddle, donât you?â
âI want you to stop running around and actually relax for once,â he retorted, resting his chin on top of your head. âBesides, itâs not like the kingdomâs gonna fall apart if we take a break.â
You rolled your eyes, but a smile tugged at your lips. âI should get a promotion. Iâm basically doing all the work around here.â
Leona chuckled again, his grip tightening just slightly. âYeah, well, donât let Falena hear that. He might actually make you his advisor, and then Iâll never get any alone time with you.â
You snorted. âOh please, youâd just kidnap me from work if that happened.â
âDamn right,â he muttered, his voice low and satisfied. âYouâre mine, remember?â
You felt your heart do that annoying flutter thing as Leonaâs possessive tone settled over you. Even when he was being a lazy lion, he made you feel like the most important thing in his life. It was comfortingâand kind of hilarious, considering how little he cared about everything else.
The room fell into a comfortable silence, and for once, you actually allowed yourself to relax, leaning into Leonaâs warmth. His arms tightened around you again, and you could feel the soft rise and fall of his chest as he started to drift off into a nap, his grip never loosening.
As you closed your eyes, you couldnât help but think that, despite all the absurdities in your lifeâfrom slipping on a plushie to your best friend falling in love with her former rivalâyou wouldnât trade any of it. Not for the world.
And as Leonaâs breath slowed into the steady rhythm of sleep, you allowed yourself a small, contented smile.
Life was chaotic. But it was also perfect.

OK here it is, a ton of 'production' stuff for the Hot Guy Comic Zine! I've never been part of a project like this. Even though I was working on my comic mostly solo (shout-out to my editor Violet!), the world-building and story arc planning was completely collaborative. For example:
We started out on the world-building by voting on character's superpowers! Plenty of powers were almost unanimously agreed on, but Cuteguy was a HUGE campaign. We were pretty much 50/50 split between can fly/can't fly. Propaganda was exchanged LOL, like this piece where I campaigned for limited flying capabilities đ And thats what we ended up settling on!
From there we worked on a ton of brainstorming/world-building that I mostly spectated with an occasional doodle like these haha. I'm new to such elaborate AUs!
Pitch time!! I had pitches for each era and they were all pretty light and banter-y, so my year 1 pitch ended up fitting the vibe the best. My original pitch was 'HG + CG learn some key things about each other and plan to set up a base they can use together.' But when I started my script, I got really caught up in how they were navigating a partnership without knowing each others identities. The more I wrote through that, the more I wanted my story to be ABOUT that! So thats where my script started coming together.
Designs! I'm definitely not a confident costume designer. I was trying to go for low-tech + practical since it was early in their careers, and of course, easy to draw đ
Process went more or less like this! Full color comics take a LONG TIME but it was a total labor of love. I had the graffiti bgs in mind from the very start since I knew it was dialogue heavy, I wanted to make sure the art was interesting and worth spending time looking at. Oh lord did I get carried away. I'm OBSESSED with the symbolism the fandom has put to the life series and so I tried to sneak in as much meaningful symbolism as possible. AND THE RESULT:
Guess I did pretty well! đđđ
Anyway, I can't overstate how proud I feel to have gotten to work on this project. My whole goal as a hobbyist is to get to work with other artists I look up to and respect so this was a dream come true! Thank you everyone for reading, for 15k downloads (!!!), and for just being an awesomely creative fandom space to make art in! I hope to do more stuff like this again some day đ

"Kiss. Teach. Love!"
(Mr. Crawling x GN! Reader)
No way, NotHomeGal actually revived? Yup, I did. Homicipher brought me back to life from the depts of my creative burnout (oăâ˝ă)oâ
This game really scratched a part of my brain I didn't know was there, but I'm not complaining!
And no, I won't be abandoning the slasher fandom, but I must say it will take some time to come back to write those right now, but I'll do my best to rekindle that spark!
Okay, enough of my yapping. Hope you enjoy this Oneshot (´â˝`ĘâĄĆŞ)
Summary: after learning that sometimes objects from the human world may fall into the realm you're currently stuck in, it became a common activity for you to scavenge around the junk to pass time, and your ghost companion always seems so curious about it!
Warnings: none really just fluff, Mr. Crawling being too cute for a mortal soul to handle.
Side note: yeah just like in most (basically all) of my fics, MC (or Y/N) will be Gender Neutral! So everyone gets to enjoy the story with their favorite ghost man :]
AND! Here's the link of the dictionary I used for the fic to put ghost words heheerhkj.
Word count: 3.6k
It's been so long, they think at least. Time feels stuck in place, yet in the deepest part of (Y/N)'s conscience they know it's not true, that the time and everything outside these lifeless concrete walls is very much alive.
Life goes on, it keeps moving regardless if they feel it or not, time is passing just like it always did... Yet, they feel stuck. Numb. It's like their mind and soul are slowly melting, becoming one with this dimension they begrudgingly started to call "home", even if it's not... This is not their real home!...
It's not!...
It's not...
It's not...?
â"⨠д 㤠ă
?"â (Sad)
A quiet gasp left (Y/N)'s lips when suddenly something brushed against their leg as that soft voice spoke next to them, that "something" being the very long, dark hair of their ghost companion.
They turn their head, almost flinching at the sight of how close Mr. Crawling was to them. Shoot, sometimes they forget how unnerving his appearance is, especially when he creeps up on them like this, though unintentionally.
â"ત ઠд ⨠д 㤠ă
?"â (You Sad)
He repeated the question, his usual smile now replaced with a small frown. His voice quiet and soft as always, but with that subtle quiver at the end that appeared whenever he's concerned.
(Y/N)'s breath almost hitched from that little but oh so sweet display of care. Even after all the time spent side by side with Mr. Crawling, they still periodically wonder what the hell did they do to deserve such kind perso... Ghost, in their life.
Before the entity's worry could grow, (Y/N) flashed him with a smile, shaking their head a little.
â"I'm alright, just a little distracted."â
Their answer did seem to soothe the ghost's worry a little. However, he leaned closer, more of his hair falling into (Y/N)'s body, sending small shiver through their form as the black locks brushed their legs, sensation that resembling a small breeze of air running across their skin. An odd, chilly feeling... But one that became very comforting and grounding for the human over the time, as it was like a gentle reminder of Mr. Crawling's presence, that they weren't alone.
â"㤠ત ภภΝ ภă ৺ × ŕĽŽ ÚŠ ઠ? 㤠ત ภภ㤠á ภઠ?"â (Not Bad Feel Not Scared)
Their smile faltered for a brief moment, knowing exactly what he was talking about...
Even if it's been quite a while since (Y/N) had one of those episodes of fear and hallucinations, the memories of them are still haunting the human in one way or another, leaving this uncomfortable sensation under their skin. It's like feeling hands, snaking all over their body, slowly slipping under their clothes, creeping through their skin and flesh, trying to dig deeper and deeper, right to their very core, trying to reach something so deep inside of them and rip it away from them...
Their essence?
Their soul?
TĚľĚÍĚhĚ´ĚĚ̝̹e̡ÍĚÍiĚľĚÍ̤ÍrĚśĚĚÍĚ n̡ÍÍĚžĚÍÍĚÍÍ ĚżĚĚĚ̳̝̯̏̎ĚĚÍĚ̝̊̎aĚ´ÍĚÍĚžĚÍĚŚÍ̢̝ĚĚťÍ̧̳̥ĚmĚľĚÍÍÍ ĚĚÍĚĚ
ĚÍĚĚĚĄĚÍĚÍĚŹÍ̢̝ÍeĚľĚÍĚšÍ̤ÍĚŽĚşÍÍÍÍĚÍ-?
The human then simply hums, shaking off the heavy feeling off their mind. Their gaze soon focuses back on Mr. Crawling's face, their smile creeping back on their features, but now brighter, happier.
â"㤠ત ภภΝ ภă ৺ × ŕĽŽ ÚŠ ઠ. 㤠ત ภภá á° ŕŞ × ."â (Not Bad Feel Not Together)
They replied cheerfully, confidently using the otherworldly language to make sure there is no room for doubts left.
Upon hearing their answer and seeing that smile he absolutely adored, Mr. Crawling himself smiles back, letting that characteristic high-pitched giggle of of his. And just like (Y/N) expected, the crawling ghost reached out and gently patted their head, ruffling their grayish hair a little.
â"ăˇăł ਌ Ď
ภ! ăˇăł ਌ Ď
ภ!"â (Glad Glad)
(Y/N) giggled as well, already used to Mr. Crawling's joyful chirps at whatever little thing they do. Once satisfied, the ghost slowly retires his hand from their head and leans back to his previous position right next to the human in a raincoat, his dark locks trailing behind and sliding off (Y/N)'s legs as he gives them a little bit of space.
They hum, that happy smile remaining on their lips, brightening a bit their bandage-covered face, returning some of color and life to it. The human soon shift their attention back to what they were previously up to, which was scavenging and going through all the junk and rumble that fell down here from the human world.
While (Y/N) is the one going through the numerous items, Mr. Crawling remained focused on them. Staying next to their crouched form and curiously watching the things they periodically picked up and inspected, sometimes even picking something himself and asking what it is and what humans do with it.
The activity was simple, but it was like a huge breath of air for (Y/N) and a great way to distract their mind from the decay this world was putting them through, helping them remember who they are and what are supposed to be. A human, an unfortunate human that found themselves in this place of absolute madness...
(Y/N)'s train of thoughts stopped when their eyes suddenly caught a glimpse of something bright and colorful under a small pile of old, messed news articles. And after carefully pushing aside all the trash, they get a clear sight of what it is.
A manga cover!
(Y/N)'s eyes widened and their smile grew as they reach out and grab the manga book, picking it up and instantly flipping through the pages.
â"No way, it's actually in good, readable condition!"â
They exclaimed excitedly, eyes wandering through the pages with interest.
Mr. Crawling simply observed, curiously watching them inspect the book. He noticed that (Y/N) would always get super excited whenever they saw one of these colorful pictures, and it made him happy to see them happy! As well as to keep a mental note to find more of these to make them even happier.
However, as the human paused on one of the pages, probably to check if the paper is holding up alright after getting a little wet. Something completely different caught the ghost's attention.
Slowly, Mr. Crawling reaches his hand again, pointing at a particular drawing with his finger while tilting his head to the side, like a confused puppy would.
â"× ŕ¸ ŕ¨Ś áăŁĐ´ â ઠ৺ ă
?"â (What They Do)
He asked, gently tapping the picture with his finger.
(Y/N) glances at the spot their ghost companion is pointing at, their eyebrows rising slightly as they see an illustration of two of the characters kissing. Oh, did they just spoiled themselves one of the subplots?...
â"This?"â
They asks, eyes flickering between the comic and Mr. Crawling's face.
â"Ďă
â Îť ÚŠ 㤠ત ăł á ÚŠ ă?"â (Why Touch Mouth)
The ghost asked again, genuine curiosity lingering in his quiet voice as he taps the paper again, his head turning to the side to look at (Y/N). Despite half of his face being covered by his dark hair, they could practically feel his curious stare, almost like a kid waiting for his parent to answer.
â"ÚŠÂ á ăˇ Ď Ďă
â ?"â (Teach Why)
He asks, now his attention completely casted on (Y/N), patiently waiting for their answer.
The mentioned human stays silent at fist, seemingly surprised the ghost actually doesn't know what a kiss is and why people do it. However, the more they think about it, the less he can blame Mr. Crawling. After all, this world is not built for affection, and considering all the dangers that lurk here on daily basis, it's not too surprising that some residents of this place don't even know what affection is.
â"Well. This is called a kiss, 'kiss'."â
They explain, pointing at their lips as they spell the word for him.
â"K- KĚ´ĚĚť-KĚśĚĚĽÍi̡Ě̢̞̰sĚľÍĚŁĚ sĚľĚ̞̎-?"â
He attempts to repeat, though the sound comes more as a hiss rather than an actual word... Still, (Y/N) was proud of him for trying! And expresses such joy with a soft giggle.
â"Yeah, kiss. Uh..."â
They paused, thinking over their wording before continuing.
â"⨠ภп ภKiss ત Îť ăłăˇ ÚŠÂ á ăˇ Ď ăˇ ŕĽŽ ăł ă
."â (Human _ Desire Teach Love)
They finish, scratching their cheek with a sheepish smile, knowing that their explanation probably sounded wonky a weird, especially with that little mix between languages.
The ghost, makes a small "oh" sound, actually understanding their answer even with the odd wording.
Suddenly, Mr. Crawling's face lightens in puppy-like joy as he leans closer, his face just inches away from the human's when he starts to chirp back.
â"ત Îť ăłăˇ ÚŠÂ á ăˇ Ď ăˇ ŕĽŽ ăł ă
! "â (Desire Teach Love)
(Y/N) raised their eyebrows at his words, their cheeks suddenly feeling a little warmer.
(Hold on, is he asking me for a kiss?!)
As flustered as they were, upon seeing that excited, happy smile of the ghost that they grew so attached to, they couldn't find the heart to tell him no even if their life depended on it. Beside, it's just a kiss, and they both like each other! So why not?
â"Eh... Hehehe. Okay, okay. You kiss like this."â
They answer, before suddenly leaning forward and pressing their lips against the cold skin of his cheek.
A soft, quiet gasp escaped the ghost's lips, the difference in temperature between his and (Y/N) body never failing to make his chest feel all funny, though not unpleasant type of funny. But now with the added softness of their lips and the hot breath casted on his face, it created a sensation he haven't felt before.
The human leans back a little, chuckling under their breath at the ghost's reaction. However, their smile begin to fade when they notice how still he suddenly got.
They go silent, patiently waiting for Mr. Crawling to say or do something, but he remained perfectly still and dead silent, like some kind of creepy statue. Did they just cross some boundary they didn't know about?...
â"Mr. Crawling?..."â you ask eventually, voice quiet. â"Are you alright? Did I-..."â
(Y/N) paused when he finally does move, slowly lifting his hand from the opened manga book and brushing his fingers against his cheek, right on the spot they kissed him a second ago.
Suddenly, another high-pitched giggle escaped the ghost as he immediately launches forward, forcing (Y/N) back and basically tackling them to the ground into that famous overzealous hug of his they came to secretly adore.
â"K̜̼ÍĚá¸ĚˇĚ˘ĚĚžášŁĚľĚ Ís̾̎ĚĚž ! K̜̼ÍĚá¸ĚˇĚ˘ĚĚžášŁĚľĚ Ís̾̎ĚĚž !"â
He cheerfully exclaims with his broken human speech, before mimicking (Y/N)'s action and pressing his lips against their cheek. Though, more than an kiss his gesture resembled a nuzzle, like big dog gently bumping his favorite person with his nose.
â"৺ á × â Îť ત Đ´ ÚŠÂ á ăˇ Ď ăˇ ŕĽŽ ăł ă
! "â (Me Want to Teach Love)
(Y/N) just couldn't help but laugh at the sweet action of the ghost, their cheeks turning much redder and warmer than before. With their hands no longer being occupied by the manga book, they reach and rest their hands on Mr. Crawling's back, basically hugging him back as the entity continues to joyfully express his liking through the newfound gesture.
â"You're doing it pretty good! But this is not exactly a kiss..."â
They eventually say, sliding their hands from his back and instead resting them on his shoulders. At the sound of their voice, Mr. Crawling's affectionate nuzzles pause and leans back, tilting his head to the side with curiosity.
â"Yeah, you need to press your lips, not caress with them. Ehm..."â
They fall silent, their gaze adverting for a brief moment as they try to find the needed words to describe what they're trying to say, but all they get is a reminder of how poor and limited the ghost vocabulary is...
Mr. Crawling remained quiet, patiently waiting for (Y/N) to figure out their wording. He didn't mind the wait at all to be honest, patience being one of his biggest virtues after all. Beside, seeing the human mumble and emit noises under their breath while making funny faces, such as pushing their lips or furrowing their brows, was a very cute sight to witness!
When realized that words, human or not, won't cut it. (Y/N) decided to use actions instead, as their head was starting to hurt at this point from this damn language barrier. So, with a soft sigh their eyes flicker back at Mr. Crawling, who was still patiently waiting for them to figure out their wording, or maybe taking the chance to look and admire their face, or maybe both...
â"৺ á × ÚŠÂ á ăˇ Ď ŕŞ¤ ઠд Kiss."â (Me Teach You)
They finally said, a hint of determination in their tone, though it was mostly directed to (Y/N) as they try to push through their own sudden rush of shyness and fluster. How comes they can be all giggly and cuddly when Mr. Crawling literally tackles them, but then turn into a blushing mess from a little kiss?! Ugh, even they start to make less sense the more they stay in this world...
At their words, the ghost seemed almost ecstatic. He already was eager to get any sort of attention from (Y/N), let alone affection. So the mere thought of feeling their lips pressed against his skin again made his whole body almost shake.
(Y/N) could feel the ghost's body grow tense from the overwhelming joy, and it was such a strangely endearing sight to witness; an otherworldly entity acting like an overjoyed puppy about to receive his favorite treat.
They giggle again, giving his shoulders a gentle squeeze before speaking.
â"Okay hehe... Eeh... Look, you kiss like this, ă
áп৺."â (Look)
They say before leaning closer, the distance between their and Mr. Crawling's face growing smaller and smaller, until their lips finally come in contact with the ghost's other cheek.
They can feel him shiver, clearly still not used to the new sensation, but he was definitely loving it judging by the way his long arms slightly closed around their body, almost hugging them and pressing their smaller form against his taller one.
(Y/N) leans back a tiny bit, taking the chance to simply look at the entity who was holding them in it's embrace so tenderly. Of course, this is not the first, nor last, time they'll be held by Mr. Crawling. But... Right now, there's something different, they feel different. Their heart is pounding like crazy, yes. But they no longer feel flustered or embarrassed, they feel strangely in peace in fact.
There's always been something captivating about the crawling ghost, even with his unnerving traces. The way his long, black hair surrounds them, a void that's isolating both from the outside world, covering them like a veil, making each the protagonist of the other's gaze. For a monster-filled place like this, the moment felt almost romantic.
The human let a soft exhale, their lips parting ever so slightly. And before their brain could even realize it, (Y/N) was already leaning forward again.
They don't know what came over them, but their mind, their heart, and even that little voice was telling them the same thing...
{Do it.)
They press their lips again, this time against the tip of his nose, getting one of these little "eh" sounds out of him.
They didn't stop there however, instead starting to pepper the ghost's face with more kisses. His cheeks, his forehead, his jaw...
(Y/N)'s movements were slow and delicate, keeping in mind the comfort of their otherworldly companion as they shower him with this new, intimate affection. They weren't quite sure what he was thinking about all of this, if he was getting overwhelmed or not, if he truly enjoyed or understood how much this moment meant for humans... But by how his arms seem to close more around their smaller form, how his fingers flex around the fabric of their raincoat, how his body seemed to gradually relax and even lean into the new, loving gesture...
Yeah, they knew he understood.
However, as (Y/N) was about to reach his lips, an inexplicable wave of hesitation came all over them, freezing them in place and incapacitating from moving back of forward, their heartbeat getting surprisingly, almost painfully loud.
(What's going on?)
(Why am I feeling so... Self-conscious?)
(No... No. I want to do it, I need to do it! Come on body, move! Move god damnit!)
They screamed inside of their mind, yet their body still refused to move, regardless of all the mental berating they were putting themselves through. Their grip on Mr. Crawling's shoulder tightened a little, like a silent attempt to ground themselves and remember just how close the ghost was, how he was waiting for them to continue, how he was waiting for them. But... They... They just couldn't move.
However, after a few beats of silence and inactivity had passed, is Mr. Crawling the one to finally break the tension and lean forward, his cold lips pressing against the warm ones of the human.
And just like that, all the doubts and hesitations had melted away in (Y/N), and everything felt alright again. No, more than alright. This felt perfect, intimate, sweet, and surprisingly innocent. Holding nothing but the affection, care and love the two beings felt for one another, now in it's purest way.
A human.
And a ghost.
Together, connected to each other not just in a physical way, but now in a deep, emotional way...
The kiss itself probably didn't last even 10 seconds, but in (Y/N)'s and Mr. Crawling's mind it felt like two eternities had passed, and many more would if they'd decided to keep going.
After breaking the kiss, the two just stay like this for a while, looking at each other as their minds clear from the haze and feeling of drunkenness the sweet exchange left behind. Mr. Crawling still on top of (Y/N), but instead of just hovering over them like he always did, now his arms were tightly wrapped around their frame, keeping them securely in place right between the ground and his body.
(Y/N) couldn't explain it, but right now they feel like they're falling again for the ghost. Just by being held in his embrace and hidden underneath his larger body, they felt so safe and at peace... So...
It's like they were home.
Their home...
He became their home, their safe place, their happy place...
Him...
â"Îť ÚŠ ᰠ৺ ઠ?"â (Are you okay)
Mr. Crawling suddenly asked, his smile faltering as his embrace on them tightens a little. It was almost like he was concerned he did something wrong and broke them, what a sweetheart.
(Y/N) blinked, noticing they were probably staring and zoning out with this little realization of theirs, realization that their real home was not in this or their world.
It was with Mr. Crawling.
Or at least, that's what their heart told them.
â"I'm fine."â
The human said in a soft voice. Their body leaning forward while speaking, snuggling closer to the ghost's chest, the action feeling like a little dejavu to the time he hid them from the man in red.
Ugh... The sole mention of that guy is still sending shivers through their body, so let's not think about him.
â"৺ăłá
á á° ŕŞ × ŕ§ş á × á° á 㤠á."â (Us Together Me Happy)
Mr. Crawling didn't take long to let yet another high-pitched giggle, his head coming to rest on top of (Y/N)'s, nuzzling gently against their hair and raincoat hood.
â"ăˇăł ਌ Ď
ภ! ăˇăł ਌ Ď
ภ!"â (Glad Glad)
He chirped cheerfully, his arms tightening just a little to give the human a gentle squeeze.
â"ત ઠд á° á 㤠á ৺ á × ăˇăł ਌ Ď
ภ!"â (You Happy Me Grateful)
â"৺ á × ăˇ ŕĽŽ ăł ă
ત ઠд !"â (Me Like You)
â"৺ á × ăˇ ŕĽŽ ăł ă
á á° ŕŞ × ŕŞ¤ ઠд !"â (Me Like Together You)
All (Y/N) could do at the moment is giggle and attempt to keep up with his excitement. Jeez, they forgot how talkative Mr. Crawling gets when excited. They reach out at some point, affectionately rubbing his back like a quiet request to slow down, which the ghost quickly complies by stopping his speech and instead resorting just to the nuzzling.
The two remained like this for quite a while, just enjoying this precious moment of having each other close. Even if they knew that the next time (Y/N) needs to take a nap, they'll be in embraced again.
â"Alright, that's enough for now.â
The human muttered, giving the ghost's back a few gentle pats like a way of saying that they wanted him to move.
Mr. Crawling doesn't try to protest at all, surprisingly. And after giving one more squeeze, his arms loosen around (Y/N)'s form and he slowly lets go, his body getting off them and instead settling right by their side. That's probably the reason he didn't complain about letting go, knowing he'd be next to them one way or another.
(Y/N) chuckled again at the ghost's sneaky antics, finding them pretty adorable. And after reaching out to pat his head again, the human settles into a more comfortable position and grabs the manga book they previously dropped from Mr. Crawling's surprise-tackle-hug.
â"Okay, let's see what this is about..."â
The human muttered to themselves while opening the book and starting to read the story, deciding to go blind into it and discover the plot as they progress with the story.
Mr. Crawling in the meantime had found his comfortable spot by placing his head against (Y/N)'s shoulder, with one of his arms resting across their waist, keeping them in this half hug.
Even if the ghost didn't understand a word, the illustrations of the manga were very helpful and allowed him to follow the story along with the human. Though there were things he also didn't quite understand about human behavior, it wasn't a big deal since (Y/N) would always chive in and explain him things.
As the two lay there, reading, Mr. Crawling suddenly lifted his head and pressed his lips against (Y/N)'s cheek gently, this time actually kissing them.
â"৺ á × ÚŠÂ á ăˇ Ď ăˇ ŕĽŽ ăł ă
ત ઠд ! "â (Me Teach Love You)
He said in a sweet, happy tone that nearly made (Y/N)'s heart explode. Ugh, seriously who gave him the right to be so cute!?
â"ăˇăł ਌ Ď
ŕ¸."â (Grateful)
â"㡠༎ ăł ă
৺ á × ?"â (Like Me)
(Aaand there he goes again. Yup, high-maintenance type...)
(But he's my high-maintenance type.)
â"㡠༎ ăł ă
ત ઠд."â (Like You)
They replied warmly, planting another kiss on top of his head, gaining yet another lovely giggle from the entity before returning their attention to the manga. The ghost soon following their example, settling back into his previous position, occasionally nuzzling against their shoulder like an affectionate cat. They could swear he'd be purring if he could.
And while reading the manga, (Y/N) couldn't help but smile, but also dread a little at how the next days would go now that Mr. Crawling learned about kissing and what it meant...
...
They're going to get tackled A LOT.
"Won't they?"

idk man i know times are hard but i can't help but feel that watcher putting all their eggs in the basket that is their own streaming service is a bad call. like sure i totally get wanting a platform where you have full control both creatively and financially but i feel they might be misjudging how much loyalty non-hardcore fans might have for what they're creating. in every internet fandom there's a subsection of people willing to pay with actual money to support the creators they enjoy, and that's what services like patreon are for. but to expect that casual viewers will sign up and pay a monthly fee to get access to just watcher content when a large portion of them were likely just watching the content because it was free and accessible on youtube assumes that someone who isn't a diehard fan won't just go "oh well" and find something else on youtube that IS still free? that seems like a miscalculation to me. the massive fanbases online content creators have may literally be only possible because the content is available to anyone-- it seems foolish to assume that every single one of those fans is going to stick around once you try to upsell them.
i hope this new venture goes well for the watcher crew. I really do. but i also know that a lot of brands and startups that bank on the loyalty they earned when their product was free or low cost and expect that to sustain them while they try to do something that historically has not gone well for the vast majority of businesses. at best, they'll have halved their fanbase by alienating those who can't or don't want to pay and made it much more difficult for remaining fans to create fandom products like memes or gifs that promote their shows on social media. at worst, they'll discover in the near future the independent streaming service model is unsustainable with only the fans they have left and by that point they'll have already deleted themselves from youtube and made it impossible to come back to the level of success they had before. any attempt to return to youtube will be an admission of a critical miscalculation and i doubt many remaining fans will tolerate the back and forth. they'll have crippled their credibility, relevancy, and fanbase loyalty over a very short period of time-- and i don't know if it would even be possible to come back and still be beloved after all that.
worst of all-- if the watcher streaming service crashes and burns after they've already removed all their content from youtube, all the watcher shows are essentially going to become lost media, only accessible via reuploaders willing to risk a copy strike or if you know someone who has a copy downloaded. given how genuinely good the watcher content is in the sea of lackluster youtube mush, that really seems like a damn shame.
i hope the watcher team sees how everyone is responding and decides to course correct before it's too late and get away with only the hit to their reputation that they've already taken by announcing this, instead of pushing forward on a path that might lose them everything instead. nothing i've said here is with any hate intended toward anyone involved or those who are excited about the new service, but this just seems like a really ill-advised decision to me.
#watcher#watcher tv#i'm not really mad or sad and like i said none of this is said with ill intent#but yeah i think they should have market tested this idea first

Hi Neil,
Regardless of if you ever see this Iâll be happy the sentiment was put there.
As I got into adulthood I lost touch with many of my interests and hobbies. Things like study and work seemed to take over my life and I forgot about many of the things I enjoyed that kept me sane as a child.
But after watching and reading Good Omens Iâve done 4 things:
1. Picked up the piano again after 10 years not playing just so I could learn the theme song. Iâve been at it for months and Iâm usually terrible at sticking to things but Iâve promised a friend we are going to do a duet with them playing the kazoo so I have to now obviously
2. I started to draw again on a regular basis
3. I started to write again for the first time since I was a kid and found I actually have quite a passion for it. Iâd like to publish at least one book some day with my own illustrations
4. I retuned to tumblr and was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful fandom who all love this story as much as I do. And I think itâs wonderful you are also here to watch us all adore it. And so that we can send our appreciation back to you and everyone else involved in making it come to life.
The love and care you and Terry have put into it is so clear. This story and seeing how you interact with the fandom reminded me of how important story telling and creation is to the world. And its lead me back to many things Iâd thought I had lost. So thanks to you and every other creative out there, itâs easy to get stuck in our bubble and think what weâre putting out there doesnât matter. But if you or Terry had given in to that kind of thinking we wouldnât have Good omens! And thatâs something I like to think about when I doubt what I make.
That makes me very happy.

How Blitz and Stolas figure out how they feel: external vs. internal processing
I've been in therapy a ton (feeling like I'm not alone in that in this fandom), and one of the things I've learned from it is that I like to process my thoughts and feelings externally- by talking about them. It turns out not everyone is like that. I'm like Blitz in this way.
I first got on this topic when I was thinking about how Blitz flip flops in Apology Tour. When he goes to see Stolas at the beginning of the episode, he goes in with an idea he's trying out- a narrative he's committed to FOR NOW, insisting that he's there to reinstate the full moon deal with TONS of undue and shaky confidence.
Is this plan something he's actually confident in? Absolutely not. But he's going to commit to it damnit and see how it plays out. Does he believe it? I think he does in the moment. He's convinced himself anyway, and when Stolas wears him down and he understands that he's not doing himself any favors . . .
He starts processing the real shit aloud.
I don't think Blitz has ever admitted this to himself, at least not this articulately and accurately. He needs to say it aloud in order for it to be real. Oops too real.
He's SCARED because he didn't even KNOW he felt this way, but things are becoming very clear and dangerously close to the heart of the matter . . . so he pivots again back into comfortable territory (conflict).
By the end of the conversation, he arrives at a new mission, one that's sort of an equilibrium between his realizations about his honest feelings and his need to have a mission he feels confident in. He's not all confident or all honest- he's still in flux.
There are SO many more examples of Blitz realizing how he feels BY TALKING (later in Apology Tour when he's talking to Stolas, and then when he's talking to Verosika . . . but then also back in Oops, etc.), but I'm going to leave it at one for brevity here. What's important is that we NEVER see Blitz processing alone. Even in his part of the duet (more on songs in a sec), when he's technically singing to himself, he's consoling himself with a narrative rather than really processing the things that need to be processed.
Blitz needs a person to process with.
But Stolas is an internal processor. We know this already because he made the plan to give Blitz the Asmodean crystal and sat on it for literal months, procuring the crystal, ironing out what he would say, trying to initiate conversations with Blitz, but never explaining how he felt to anyone before it was time- and absolutely NEVER in a way that was half baked.
The way Stolas sings his feelings actually gives us a really clear and beautiful picture of how he processes and figures things out. I forget who said it, but someone on the Helluva creative team referenced a broadway truism that in a musical, characters sing what they can't speak. I think for Stolas it's often what he can't YET speak because he's still processing. He has full honest conversations with himself (Stolas Sings, Just Look My Way), and then when he's face to face with Blitz, he knows exactly what he wants to say. His feelings and beliefs actually progress from song to song- he expresses his awareness of a problem in Stolas Sings and gets more precise about how he feels and what he needs to do about it in Just Look My Way.
By The Full Moon, for better or worse (kind of both), Stolas knows exactly what he wants to say to Blitz and how he wants to say it.
Even when he's upset, angry, and then drunk, when Stolas speaks about his feelings, he's consistent. He's decided. He loves Blitz. He wants a real relationship. From his point of view, he doesn't care about social class, so he can't understand why Blitz is so stuck on it.
But he's missing something key (it's the social class thing- it's definitely the social class thing), and internally, he's cooking, and we see that (again) when he sings.
This is the rawest and most in flux stage of his thought process that we've seen. Because this is how he figures out what he thinks and feels- with himself, in song.
Okay- so interesting psychoanalysis- why does this matter to the story?
Well, I think that Stolas doesn't understand that when Blitz speaks in these super emotional, fraught conversations, he doesn't go in knowing what he thinks and feels. He's figuring it out on the fly. He's figuring it out BY talking, and needs to be allowed to do that. Should he do this with a therapist instead of with the person most likely to be hurt by the ideas he flies through on his way to his true feelings? For sure, but this is Blitz.
In turn, Blitz doesn't understand that when Stolas acts absolutely certain and doesn't seem to take in the things Blitz is saying, he's not talking to a brick wall. He's talking to a moveable person who, once he's alone (or singing) is going over and over everything and breaking his thoughts down and reformulating until he arrives at something new.
So . . . it might be a little much to ask these two to understand each other's different processing styles- but they're coming along in their own ways. And I'm looking forward to them understanding each other. Someday. Maybe. Fucking sit down and talk. Slowly. AGH.
#stolitz#my helluva meta#blitz#stolas#blitzo buckzo#stolas goetia#blitzo#Is this the longest piece of meta I've written? Maybe.#Am I missing important details? Absolutely.

PSA for TF2 Fanartists
(And... really for everyone on the creative side of the fandom, but artists are the ones hurt by this the most.)
I've been seeing some really concerning stuff here that is going unnoticed. Granted, I don't think this is any artist's fault--if anything, the artists are the victims here. But that's why I want to make you guys aware of this, so you can protect yourself from this sort of thing.
"This sort of thing" being a little something called fetish mining.
Fetish mining is when someone with a specific fetish attempts to trick someone else into providing them with content for their fetish... without letting them know that's what they're asking for. Outside of fandom spaces, this can look like someone with a foot fetish approaching someone who is selling socks, and asking them to "model" the socks for them--they're not actually interested in buying the socks, they just want to see pictures of feet.
Within fandom spaces, however, they often take the form of someone repeatedly requesting something featuring a very specific body part of a character, or repeatedly requesting art of a character performing a weirdly specific action. (The repeated part is important here--someone could just say "oh hey could you draw this character shirtless?" once, and that would probably be fine. There's a chance it could be a fetish thing, sure, but it's significantly less likely. Same with a really random request--someone could request something really specific, but if they only do so once, it's significantly less likely to be a fetish mining request.) They might also provide an excuse like, "oh, I think this would be really funny! :)" or "this is a joke request! but it would be hilarious if you drew it"
So what are some examples of this?
Well... they might look a little something like this:
[ID: Two screenshots of two different anonymous asks. The first one reads "HEAVY TF2 TUMMY" with multiple red exclamation points afterward, and the second reads "Sniper tf2 teeth" followed by multiple red exclamation points. /end ID]
(I was going to feature another but then realized it wasn't anonymous, and I'm not comfortable putting an actual blog on blast.)
If these were just one-off asks, that would be one thing, but if you look up these things, you'll see dozens of these asks.
As well, there's nothing wrong with drawing Heavy shirtless, or drawing Sniper baring his teeth. Having fetishes for stomachs or teeth is not wrong, either, nor is specifically requesting fetish art (so long as the artist is okay with such requests)!
The problem is that the specificness of these asks, combined with how frequently these asks get sent, are signs of fetish mining.
(Though another problem is that... this isn't always a 100%-for-sure sign of fetish mining. Some people have special interests that might not be a typical thing like a fandom or hobby or branch of science, but could just be something oddly specific like stomachs or teeth. These things are okay and are not bad! But requests relating to these things can, unfortunately, look identical to fetish mining.)
And again, fetish mining is a person sneakily asking for someone else to provide them with something that is fetish material for them--something that is sexual for them--without letting that person know that's what it's for.
This makes it a form of sexual harassment.
I feel like a lot of the fandom is... not really aware of what's going on, here, and it's distressing. These are very likely bad actors trying to take advantage of people and get away with sexually harassing others (including minors). This is not okay. No part of that is okay.
The best thing to do when faced with a request that seems oddly specific is to look it up, and, if there seem to be multiple requests of this nature, to ignore it--do not fulfill the request. Do not encourage this behavior. (Unless you're okay with drawing that kind of content, but like... if that's the case, then tag your work appropriately.)
Don't feel bad if you've fulfilled some of these requests in the past--you didn't know, and being tricked is not your fault. But now that you do know, you can hopefully better protect yourself from this kind of thing.
#team fortress 2#tf2#tf2 heavy#tf2 sniper#I have had Anxiety about posting this because I'm not trying to start something#I am just concerned because I've encountered this stuff in other fandoms before#but it's been like... way better recognized there#I don't know why more people aren't noticing it here#or why it's become so weirdly accepted

Help me out here: Why is there so much Ian Flynn hate going around lately? I thought everyone loved that he was contributing to the games. Now suddenly they aren't. I guess that's par for the course for this series but I don't get it. He isn't perfect but I like what he's done. Am I a weirdo?
Ian Flynn has always had a lot of fans, but any creator putting their work out there is going to have detractors as well. That's just the nature of being an artist. To some extent, it's no big deal. He's not a perfect writer. Nobody is! I consider myself a fan of his work, but I've criticized plenty of individual writing decisions from him on here.
But Ian doesn't just have critics. He has his own obsessive hatedom. And the specific nature of Ian's hatedom is... interesting.
A decade ago, Ian was only the guy writing for Archie Sonic, meaning any debates over his work were quarantined within that tiny niche of the larger Sonic fandom. Only people who kept up with the comics month to month had any real reason to have an opinion on the guy, which means we're talking about merely thousands of fans as opposed to millions.
Within that group, he had some haters. You had the people who were mad about story changes made during his run, particularly things like ancillary characters getting killed off (although over the years we've learned that most of those were editorial mandates from Mike Pellerito). You had the people mad that Ian didn't push their favorite ship, with feuding SonAmy and Sonally fans claiming that he was CLEARLY biased towards one or the other. You had the people who just really, really liked one of the previous writers way more - usually Penders, as hard as that may be to believe today. That sort of thing. Pretty normal comic fandom type stuff. Again, it comes with the territory.
Unfortunately, many of those haters only got worse over time, morphing into reactionaries who constantly try to incite Comicsgate type culture war bullshit.
There are people still mad at Ian for making Sally bi and pairing her with Nicole instead of Sonic in the later Archie comics. There have been elaborate MS Paint red string conspiracy boards explaining how people like Ian and Jon Gray have apparently been destroying the franchise from the inside for years by Making Sonic Woke. (Jon gets dragged into this because people are still mad about him drawing The Slap 20 years later. Yes, really!!) There was an unhinged change.org petition trying to get Ian fired, specifically from people who were mad that the Freedom Fighters aren't in the IDW comics. There was even a very sad little fan campaign from these people trying to get Sega to move the Sonic comic license away from IDW and over to Udon, because they thought Udon would bring Sally and Bunnie back and also make them sexy again. There's a lot of this.
(Unfortunately, Penders has also exacerbated this by gossiping about Ian on Twitter and giving these fans ammo, but that's a whole 'nother discussion.)
The thing is, for years, people who only played the games or watched the cartoons had no reason to pay attention to any of this. Now, though, Ian isn't just writing for some weird spinoff comics that only the super nerds read. Now he's writing comics that are canon to the games, and ALSO some of the games themselves, and ALSO consulting on other tie-in media like Sonic Prime, and ALSO writing the official Sonic encyclopedia, and ALSO serving as part of the new Sonic Lore Team at Sega. And on top of all this, he's got an increasingly popular podcast where he fields questions about his work on all of these things, which serves as one of the fandom's main windows into creative decisions being made behind the scenes.
As a fan of Ian's work, it's been really cool to see him rise in prominence. But the dark side of this is that his obsessive haters from the Archie days now have WAY more of a potential audience of their own. Now, every Sonic fan has to have an opinion on Ian. What this frequently means is that you'll have the Comicsgate types taking things Ian writes or says out of context, attempting to get more of the general fandom to yell at the guy.
Unfortunately, there are a wide variety of Sonic fans who take the bait:
You've got hardcore fans who disliked basically any recent piece of Sonic media and are looking for someone to blame.
You've got the people who are concerned about the sanctity of Sonic's canon, who shoot the messenger any time Ian mentions a new retcon from Sonic Team on the podcast - or any time he even mentions the THOUGHT of changing anything about the canon, as we saw recently with the Sol Dimension nonsense.
You've got people who romanticize some sort of mythical artistic vision that Sega of Japan supposedly has (or had) for the franchise. To many of these fans, American contributors like Ian just don't "get" the heart of the series and are trying to turn Sonic into something different. (This "heart of the series" tends to be some mix of Japanese instruction manual lore, the cinematics from Sonic CD, the OVA, and/or the games written by Shiro Maekawa, depending on what Sonic media the fan in question grew up with.)
You've got fans of specific characters or ships who pin the blame for how their faves are depicted entirely on Ian - most vocally fans of Shadow, even though the root problem is that Sonic Team hasn't known what to do with Shadow since 2006. At best this stops at regular old criticism, but at its worst this devolves into claims that Ian has an agenda against certain characters.
You've got fans annoyed by a perceived over-emphasis on comic-original characters in the IDW comics, ignoring the obvious facts that these characters exist because the game cast is so tightly controlled by Sega, and also, you know, that people just like the IDW characters and want more stories about them.
You've got a LOT of discourse over IDW's Sonic being a hero who tries to give his enemies second chances, as if half of Sonic's closest friends aren't already former villains and rivals. Honestly this is very transparently just reheated Steven Universe discourse lmao
You'll also see people who just think they could do Ian's job better. They can't believe that THIS GUY is the American fan working on all these Sonic projects, when clearly THEY understand the characters and lore and themes SO much better than this charlatan.
All it takes is for someone in one of these categories to be unhappy about some recent piece of Sonic media, and for them to come across an out of context quote or comic panel that rubs them the wrong way, and suddenly the leftist Zoomer Sonic fans will join the latest dogpile on Ian alongside the reactionary Comicsgate types who are mad at him for Making Sonic Woke.
In general, when fandoms get upset, they tend to want a scapegoat. A person or two to point a finger at and go "THAT's who ruined the thing I love!" This tends to be based less on reality and more on which contributors are the most visible online. You'll sometimes see teenage and adult fans of children's cartoons single out a storyboarder who's particularly vocal on Twitter, blame them for every story decision they don't like, and harass them off the platform out of a sense of retribution for their favorite ship or whatever. Failing that, fans might choose to blame every nitpick, down to individual lines of dialogue and frames of animation, on a showrunner, just because that's the name they associate with the show. And unfortunately, when it comes to Sonic, Ian is now arguably the most prolific and outspoken contributor on the English speaking internet, and therefore a common scapegoat.
Some of the things I've seen Ian blamed for are truly wild. A lot of people have claimed for YEARS that he's just lying about the existence of creative guidelines and restrictions from Sega - or, as fans call them, The Mandates - even though they're just an inherent aspect of working on a licensed property. Others claim that The Mandates are real, but somehow Ian's fault. A vocal minority of fans have convinced themselves that Ian is the sole reason the Freedom Fighters don't exist in the IDW comics, even though Ian says he's been pushing to bring them back since day one.
Sometimes you'll see people say he ruined shit he didn't even work on. A few weeks ago on Twitter I saw someone claim that Ian had written a rejected script for Sonic Forces in which Tails died. I could not find a source for this for the life of me. As far as I can tell, the rumor seems to have been born from an alleged leaked script for Forces with margin notes from Aaron Webber that criticized the way Tails was written, and also an old tweet where Aaron joked that Tails would die in an upcoming episode of Sonic Mania Adventures. These merged into "Aaron Webber criticized a draft of the Forces script in which Tails died." How'd Ian get dragged into this? Who fucking knows!
It's all just a big game of telephone. All it takes is some asshole to make something up about Ian on Twitter or YouTube or a DeviantArt journal or some forum, and at least a couple people will believe it, and then it gets repeated as fact. Again, this used to be contained by the niche nature of the Archie Sonic fandom, but now there are WAY more people who are receptive to this shit.
It's just sad to me that Ian tries to be so open and honest about his work, to try to explain the rationale for certain things, to keep fans looped in on the direction the franchise is headed, and this just gives the Flynnspiracy types more quotes to take out of context and try to paint him as the devil. If it sounds like I'm being overly defensive and dismissing his critics, man... some of the things I've seen people say directly to him are just unbelievable. People will send paragraphs-long angry screeds in to his podcast that completely tear him apart, and he has to sit there and be like "Well, that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it." People literally pay for special guest interview episodes where they just rapid fire complaints about his writing at him directly to his face. I don't know how he does it. I would snap.
All of this over Sonic the fucking Hedgehog of all things.
I don't know how to wrap this up. Engaging with fandoms online is very tiring, which is why I tend not to do it. Things like this are too common. I guess, just... remember that making art collaboratively is a complicated thing. The people involved are generally trying their best given the circumstances, but they're only human. They make mistakes. But please treat them like humans. Criticism and dogpiling are not the same thing.

yo, i just wanna say that i literally just read all your bg3-related posts in a two-day megabinge. you get lots of compliments on your art (deservedly), but your analysis of characters and situations is so deep, so detailed and, most importantly, so CONSISTENT that it's at the very least as impressive as your artistic ability. incredible insight, unmatched in the fandom tbh. i disagree with many of your takes but they never not make sense, and have made me reconsider my own perspective many times.
thank you for this â with patreon, you can monetize your art, but the thoughts you give away for free, and that content is so damn rich it's a little unfair. i'd legit pay you for your ask responses.
I'll be honest, I still can't believe that anyone actually reads and enjoys the walls of lore text I publish here, let alone LOOK FORWARD TO THEM. I still operate under the assumption that if there isn't a picture attached to it, people won't care or will at best skim through my nonsense. Thank you so much for letting me know they actually provide a little intrigue for youâ¤ď¸ (also sorry for putting you through that)
And just as semi-related PSA, nothing I ever pose here is done with the intent of convincing anyone. I took this plot and ran with it. my truths in this universe are absolute but they are restricted within it - if you have a wildly different take about something, I sincerely and earnestly think that's great and hope that everyone can indulge their creativity within the narratives and takeaways they've gotten from their campaigns. By far, my favorite thing about this community is how it allows everyone to learn about different stories about the same characters that they love, instead of fighting about what the "correct" read is.

So, I cancelled Nyxlin Week and deleted the event blog. Edit to clarify: I DELETED THE BLOG MYSELF! IT WAS NOT TAKEN DOWN BY TUMBLR BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS NOTHING ON THERE THAT WENT AGAINST TOS.
I originally wanted to do this event mainly because me and Copy have a bunch of Nyxlin art planned anyway and that way we could also encourage some more content out of a few other peers.
I expected SOME people to get miffed, maybe some angry anons, some hate posts, because we all know this fandom has lost all its hinges somewhere long ago (if it ever had them) and people are absolutely incapable to just ignore something they don't like. At first we thought a super silly banner might help against that, but clearly that was a big lapse of judgment on my part lol Either way, I wasn't too worried because there's nothing people can really do that bothers me and once the event would roll around everyone would realize there's nothing actually sinister about it, so I figured it would be fine.
What I did not expect, however, was the absolute insane behavior that ended up taking place, where people got targeted and their posts mass reported to take advantage of tumblrs shitty report system over absolutely fucking nothing. People who were not even involved in the event, just happened to write for the same pairing. So let me ask this very plainly: What the fuck is wrong with you? Because something definitely is and I hope you all are getting it checked out.
So I decided to call it quits because people getting hurt over it is obviously not worth it. And again, no wonder this fandom lacks a nice variety of artists who participate in events. What's the point? You canon obsessed pea-brained pearl-clutchers don't understand fan spaces or creativity. All you seem to be here for is virtual signalling, hate, bullying and demonstrating a severe lack of reading comprehension. I've had months of this high school bullshit now and I've really had enough.
I'm still gonna post my art (oh and all that Nyxlin stuff is not going anywhere, don't worry), but I am taking a step back from participating in fandom weeks and fandom discourse and whatnot. You guys can rip each other apart on your own.
#(like seriously there were like two other fandom dramas going on while this happened y'all need to CHILL)#this is gonna be my tamlin acosf era lmao#thrum rambles#fandom woes#nyxlin
