the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "šŸ‘‰šŸ¼šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ā“" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again
#yeehaw#1k#5k#10k#posts that got cursed. blasted. im making these tag updates after... 19 hours?#also i have been told it should say speech loss bc nonverbal specifically refers to the permanent state. did not know that!#unfortunately i fear it is so far past containment that even if i edited it now it would do very little. but noted for future reference#edit 2: nvm enough ppl have come to rb it from me directly that i changed the wording a bit. hopefully this makes sense#also. in case anyone is curious. though i doubt anyone who is commenting these things will check the original tags#1) my friend did not do this on purpose in any way. it was not intended to distract me or to hit on me. im a lesbian hes a gay man. cmon now#he felt very bad about it afterwards. i thought it was hilarious but it was very embarrassed and apologetic#2) ā€œwhy didn't he use šŸ«µšŸ¼?ā€ didn't exist yet. ā€œwhy didn't he use šŸ†—?ā€ dunno! we'd been using a lot of hand emojis. šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ is an ok sign#like it makes sense. it was just a silly mixup. also No i did not invent šŸ‘‰šŸ¼šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ as a gesture meaning sex. do you live under a rock#3) nonspeaking episodes are a recurring thing in my life and have been since i was born. this is not a quirky one-time thing#it is a pervasive issue that is very frustrating to both myself and the people i am trying to communicate with. in which trying to speak is#extremely distressing and causes very genuine anguish. this post is not me making light of it it's just a funny thing that happened once#it's no different than if i post about a funny thing that happened in conjunction w a physical disability. it's just me talking abt my life#i don't mind character tags tho. those can be entertaining. i don't know what any of you are talking about#Except the ppl who have said this is pego/ryu or wang/xian. those people i understand and respect#if you use it as a writing prompt that's fine but send it to me. i want to see it#aaaand i think that's it. everyday im tempted to turn off rbs on it. it hasn't even been a week

masc!reader Ɨ divorced!price
Knowing John Price from outside of the military - fuckin hell, knowing him from a toddlers' group of all places. You had both joined at roughly the same time, and being the only dads there rather than mums, you quickly stuck by each other, becoming fast friends since the first session.
Turns out, he'd had a shitty divorce a few years ago, and, well - his sweet baby girl got caught up in all the middle of it. She was a tiny baby at the time, but the legal stuff regarding her in the divorce was messy and Price barely managed to see her at all; and then her mother had been arrested for something or other (he didn't like to talk about it) and he had gained full custody, and arrangements were made for her to stay with his family whilst he was on deployment.
Your story was entirely different. The kid was technically your sister's - but she had died shortly after childbirth, and with no partner and an awful relationship with your parents, the two of you had agreed beforehand that if anything happened, you would become the baby's legal carer. But you'd called the boy yours after only a few months, and that's all you ever introduced him as now. Your son.
The toddler group wasn't great for either you nor Price, to be honest. The kids loved the playtime, which was good - but the parent "teachings" that the leader held were mostly encouraging weird outdated shit that wasn't worth listening to, let alone enforcing. Not to mention the constant repetition of how a single parent is a "bad" parent, which you scoffed at every time. Good thing about it was how you and John could sit at one of your houses after and shit talk it over a coffee.
Was he hot? Sure. Yes. Absolutely. It was the very first thing you noticed about him. But more than that you were genuinely grateful to have a friend; another single dad to lean on, to finally start talking about your sister's death and all the guilt you felt with your son. Someone who would actually get it.
Price started to come around to yours almost every day, even when the toddlers' group was only once a week. He insisted it was nicer than his flat, and the kids had more space to play anyway. You never minded. He took you over to his parents' house, introducing you to them. They were quick to befriend you and your child, mentioning how you should visit John's daughter there when he's on deployment.
Deployment. Forgot about that.
You laugh and nod, thanking them before you leave. You take your son to a play park and sit on a bench, watching him and just thinking. It doesn't take long til you realise you're thinking less about your friend being all captain-y and more about his smile you've come to adore being wiped from his face. About him coming home and there being more scars on his hands and arms than before. 'Cause you fucking counted. Realising he might not come home at all.
You go to his flat the next day, awkward small talk as the kids go off to play. He can tell something's up. He asks if it was his parents. Fucking apologises as if he did something wrong. You sit him down on the sofa, and rest your head on his shoulder.
"Dunno what to do," you start, eyes flickering shut when he combs a comforting hand through your hair. "You're such a great man, John. Dunno what I'd do if you went."
He looks at you for a moment; you can feel his gaze. Tilts your chin up with a calloused finger and brushes his lips against yours. It takes a second or two to process what's happening - and then you're kissing him again, his jacket balled up in your fists as you hold him closer, suddenly realise this is what it was all along. The hot, slightly traumatised dad had tripped you up and you fell fuckin hard.
All too quickly and you're lowering him down against the sofa, and his hands are on your back, and your tongue is prodding impatiently at his lip. Then he opens his mouth and you almost seem to melt into it, a soft groan in his throat, and you're lying on top of him, and his legs are around your waist-
"I'm not complaining," you hum between kisses, "but how is making out gonna help?"
He breaks apart. Looks at you with a sort of dog-like curiosity, mulling over the question for a second. Then his hands snake up to rest in your hair, and he smiles his signature smile. "Don't know. Just thought I wanted to kiss you. Won't fix me goin' on deployment, but-" he glances away, a flush creeping up his neck, "thought... thought you might be somethin' to come back to, y'know?"
You chuckle quietly, pressing your lips to his blush. "You askin' me out, John?" He kisses you tenderly, shuffling to sit up a little, pulling you onto his lap facing him.
"If you'll take me."
And you don't even have to think about it. "'Course I will."

It's interesting to me how comparatively calm qPhilza's lore feels, especially in comparison to the heavy angst of qTubbo and qBad all coming to a boil last week/weekend. Like, our cubito is also experiencing personality changes, serious threats and foreshadowing that he may either die, be stolen away, or straight up possessed. The conversations with his eggs about death and what it means are happening. But the vibe is so gentle. The changes (for now) are subtle and quiet. So much happened in today's stream and some of it was deeply concerning and yet I'm despite the way he ended I came out of that feeling warm and cozy and wholesome.

heyyy shoutout to the selfshippers who struggle with feeling lovey-dovey about their f/o(s).
maybe you don't think about them very often. maybe you can't imagine being affectionate with them. maybe you don't gush about them, or you find it hard to articulate how you feel about them. maybe you're not very active on your selfship blog, or maybe you don't have one in the first place. maybe you're neurodivergent or somewhere on the ace spectrum. maybe you're just independent.
for any reason at all, your f/o(s) would understand.
they know that affection is only one aspect of the feeling of love, and they would never assume that you "don't actually love" them just because you're less dependent on them. they would try to understand how you express your love in your own unique way, and they would give you all the space you need without crossing your boundaries or forcing anything on you. they would be patient and work with you to make sure both of your needs are met.

Okay, brains thinking of Parentified Stan twins aaand heres what I got so far
- Shermie is 8ish years younger than the Stan twins and spent a LOT of time with his older brothers
- Ma and Pa Pines had to work a lot so most of the socializing, playing, and helping with Shermie fell onto the Stan twins
- Up until the month of the science fair Shermie saw Stan and Ford as his safe people [Ma was also a safe person but she had to do a lot to keep the house running and relied on the twins to help]
- As Stan and Ford get older the affects of having to help raise their little brother slowly take their toll on them
- Shermie has to watch his big brothers start to have quicker tempers and fights more often and not understanding why it seems like his brothers are aging backwards [they're not, they're just starting to actually act their age to untreated caregiver burnout]
- Science fair happens, stuff in canon happens but now add on the guilt of feeling like they failed Shermie and a couple age regression tendencies
- Flashforward to post-canon and Shermie, after a whole 'what you mean Stan's alive/Stan acted as Ford' debacle and a lot of tears Shermie sees his brothers trying to low-key parent him again
-Brothers gotta deal with a new dynamic and Shermie finally reveals how he felt seeing his brothers as mini parents to just his brothers and how he used to think them 'aging backwards' was his fault
- And Mabel learning about parentification at some point and diagnosing her grunkles

Y'know, it's unfortunate more people don't compare Louis and Violet in good faith.
Like, when I do see people compare them, it's usually through the lens of one is good, and the other bad. One is more canon than the other, and here's why. One is objectively better for Clementine, and the other is less impactful, worse written, didn't have chemistry with her, insert several insults here, etc.
I don't think it's inherently bad to express why you might not like one of them, or why you prefer one over the other. That's fine, that's a matter of opinion. It only gets to me when it becomes hostile, or passive aggressive... but even then, I've learned to just roll my eyes and move on. Some people make it very clear that they're not worth having a discussion with.
However, I wish I could read more nuanced comparisons of the two that didn't default to the "and that's why this one is better." At least some are kind enough to tack on a "for my Clementine" at the end.
You know how it goes: Louis is cute and he makes Clementine laugh, whereas Violet's boring, her love is shallow, she's still not over Minerva and she's using Clementine as a rebound. Violentine's a bad ship because Violet's actually a traitor, and they're practically the same person and that's bad.
Violet's loyal and reliable, whereas Louis is annoying, he never takes anything serious, he's a traitor for his vote, and he's nothing but a distraction. Clouis is a bad ship because how could any Clementine possibly like him after he voted her and AJ out? That's bad!
That's always the conclusion, right? One good, one bad.
This is incredibly limiting and it drives me nuts.
They're foils. They contrast one another, highlight each other's strengths and flaws, in such an interesting way that it makes Clementine's choice between them all the more meaningful.
One is not good and the other bad, they're different, and I think that's worth exploring.
Let's start with a common argument: Violet is the more impactful option due to her connection to Minerva.
Now, to be fair, I can understand why someone on Team Violet would believe this. Yes, it's true that the confrontation with Minerva is more impactful for a violentine shipper who has more investment in Violet as a character. Louis doesn't have as strong of a connection to her.
However, what they're failing to recognize is that Minerva isn't the only ghost to haunt this narrative. Violet may have Minerva, yes, but Louis has Marlon... and that doesn't just go away once Marlon's dead.
Violet's route has Minerva as her ex-girlfriend, and her bond with Tenn that all comes to a head on the bridge. Louis' route has Marlon's death and how that specifically impacts his relationship with AJ and Clementine, and the slow burn of forgiveness on all sides.
Marlon and Minerva are also reflective of Clementine's worst outcomes.
Clementine and Marlon were tied together through Brody's blood splattered on their hands and faces. They both killed a part of Brody, but only one of them lies about who killed her first.
After Marlon dies, Clementine gradually replaces him throughout the game; Rosie is her dog now, she uses his bow [which Louis gave her], she becomes the leader. Clementine gets them to fight back, and when three of her people are captured, she doesn't cut her losses. She does what Marlon couldn't; "we're getting them back."
When she chooses Louis, he does for her what he never did for Marlon: he steps up.
Clementine proves she won't become Marlon just as she proves she won't become Minerva.
After getting James to agree to help them, Clementine and AJ talk about what to do if she ever gets bit. AJ says he'd want her to bite him, too. He repeats this sentiment after she's actually bitten, telling her he wants to stay and they could turn together, peacefully.
When Minerva confronts them on the bridge, she's dying... and she wants Tenn to die with her. She doesn't care who she has to kill in the process. She's more monster than human at this point, and most times, she succeeds.
They're both bitten. Clementine could've become a monster like Minerva in the end. She could've killed AJ, and they could've become walkers together. But she didn't. Minerva wanted Tenn to die for her, and Clementine wanted AJ to live for her.
Also, I should mention she has Minerva's axe. She carries the key weapons associated with Marlon and Minerva throughout different points in the game, further solidifying these connections. She uses Marlon's bow to save her friends, and she uses Minerva's axe to save AJ, who in turn uses it to save her.
What's also so interesting about this is how Marlon's alive in episode one, and Minerva is thought to be dead. Louis has his best friend, and Violet's lost hers. But, at the end of the episode, Marlon's dead and Minerva's revealed to be alive.
Marlon becomes the ghost, and Minerva becomes the monster. Clementine becomes to Louis and Violet what Marlon and Minerva never could... how does that not drive anyone else insane?
So, no. One is not objectively better, or more impactful, because of a connection to Marlon or Minerva. They're different. It just depends on which storyline you personally find more compelling.
Actually, let's talk about that a little more.
In my opinion, the most intriguing point of comparison between Louis and Violet stems from their perceptions of survival, and how that impacts Clementine.
An argument I see made against violentine is that Violet's boring because she and Clementine are too similar. This usually comes from clouis shippers who prefer the "opposites attract" dynamic Clementine and Louis have.
On the flip side, there's the counter argument that Louis is reckless, that he doesn't take survival as seriously as he should and Clementine wouldn't want him because of that.
These are interesting to me because I get where they're coming from... but they ultimately miss the point.
The other day, I replayed TFS. Except this time, I did something a little bit differently. I played my usual clouis route, but then I had the violentine route pulled up on my laptop so that I could watch these scenes, comparing them side by sideā€¦ and something occurred to me.Ā
Louis is about challenging Clementine's perception of survival, and Violet is about validating it.
Louis challenges Clementine from the very moment we meet himā€”heā€™s playing music. His initial philosophy on survival butts heads with Clementineā€™s. The fact that hunting with him and Aasim challenges your perception of ā€œyour choices have consequences.ā€ These games have conditioned the player to think along the lines of, ā€œYeah, Louis is more funā€¦ but if I donā€™t hunt with Aasim, we wonā€™t have any food.ā€
Except thatā€™s just it. I hate to say it, Aasim, but in the grand scheme of thingsā€¦ hunting with you doesnā€™t matter. It's actually less rewarding. You know why? Because in the next section, we get food from the train station. It wouldā€™ve been more beneficial to spend time with Louis over hunting, hence how he challenges you. Ā
This then primes you for the choice between choosing to follow Louis or follow Violet. I know people complain about how this is presented with Violet doing something productive [checking the walls] and Louis playing pianoā€¦ but thatā€™s the point. If youā€™re going through with Louisā€™ full route, you need to meet him at his level, and in turn, he will meet you at yours. You need to accept the challenge, the idea that Clementine isnā€™t entirely right about the way sheā€™s gone about survival.
Oh, and do I even need to mention the vote? The debate over Louisā€™ vote is exhausting. Often times, people tell on themselves in how they talk about it. Itā€™s not actually about the fact that he voted against them. If it was, these people would have a bigger bone with pick with Mitch, Willy, Ruby, and Omarā€¦ and yet Louis is the one who takes all the blame as if heā€™s the only one personally kicking them out.Ā
Louis is reacting to the death of his best friend, and the complicated feelings that come with it being caused by AJ. He wants accountability, even if he knows something's wrong. You can either agree with him that it was murder, and set AJ on the path of atonementā€¦ or, you can double down and tell him to fuck off, AJ was justified.Ā
But hereā€™s the thingā€¦ the vote adds to the appeal of Louisā€™ route. To someone who hates him, or at the very least is critical of his vote, that sounds mad or delusional.
Except itā€™s really not.
Ever heard of a thing called tension? Because thereā€™s a lot of it in ep2 between clouis + AJ and itā€™s fantastic.
Yes, Louis voting them out is problematic because we need a problem to solve. We need something to feed the tension between him and Clementine. He stepped in front of a gun held by his best friend in order to protect her, forever changing their relationshipā€¦ only for that to seemingly be taken away from us the moment AJ shoots Marlon.Ā
Yes, Louisā€™ route is about being challenged, but itā€™s also about challenging him. That heā€™s able to forgive them, that heā€™s able to question his own survival philosophy and understand theirs, that heā€™s able to apologize and actually change for the betterā€¦ that right there is what makes clouis so damn good.Ā
He becomes hardened whereas Clementine softens. By the end of the game, theyā€™re on a similar level now without neglecting their differences, and they can move forward together.Ā
Thatā€™s what makes Louisā€™ route appealingā€¦ and itā€™s also what makes it unappealing to people who prefer Violet.Ā
By contrast, Violetā€™s already on Clementineā€™s level when it comes to this perception of survival. She validates that Clementineā€™s on the right path.
They have other similarities in the way that theyā€™re both female, queer, they both have a kid they look after, theyā€™re not always great with other people, etc.Ā
People who prefer Louis might consider this boring, but I think to Team Violet, itā€™s comforting. Itā€™s comforting to have a partner who takes this as seriously as you do, who wants to get shit done. Theyā€™re playing Clementine with a similar attitude, and donā€™t believe it needs to be challenged. Itā€™s comforting to feel validated on something you already firmly believe in.Ā
We also see this if we compare the hunting and fishing scenes. You have to make an effort to choose Louis by choosing to neglect hunting, but the game makes you fish with Violet no matter what.
Violetā€™s prioritizing fishing because they need food. Thatā€™s what theyā€™ve set out to do, so letā€™s do it. The game is letting you know thatā€™s the case, and if you value that, continue pursuing her.Ā
While fishing, they discuss why things are weird with her and Brody. Violet doesnā€™t take well to Clementineā€™s blunt, ā€œBecause you make it weird. Brody tries and you just make fun of her."
Thatā€™s understandable because I think she already kind of knows why and is looking to have her feelings validated. She prefers it when Clementine suggests that itā€™s because Brody never said sorry for what happened to the twins.Ā
Thereā€™s also comfort and validation in the way Violet sides with Clementine and AJ after Marlonā€™s death. She votes for them to stay, vocalizing how much she disapproves of the results. Thereā€™s this feeling that I recognize from a lot of the sapphic romance I read; ā€œitā€™s you and me against the world, Iā€™ll always have your back, even if youā€™re in the wrong, Iā€™ll fight for you.ā€
In our case, itā€™s violentine + AJ against the rest of Ericson, save Tenn and Aasim. Violet validates that AJ was justified because Marlon was a liar and murderer, claiming that AJ and Clementine did nothing wrong. Violet fights to keep them.Ā
The tension between violentine in ep2 is different because instead of one pushing the other away, theyā€™re being forced apart by the vote and thereā€™s nothing they can do about it. That tension is somewhat released when Clementine comes back and theyā€™re reunited, working out a plan to best defend the school.Ā
Itā€™s also why Violetā€™s presented as doing something productive when you follow her instead of Louis, and why she asks if you want to hang out after checking the defenses.Ā
All that being said, allow me to reiterate that one is not good and the other bad, they're different. These concepts of challenge and change/validation and comfort exist on a neutral road as diverging paths. Itā€™s up to the player to pick what path they prefer, but that doesnā€™t mean the other path isnā€™t worth acknowledging or analyzing.Ā
I should also mention that theyā€™re not exclusive; there is overlap with validation being present in Louisā€™ route and challenges in Violetā€™s. Theyā€™re just more present in episodes 3 and 4 after weā€™ve made our decision.Ā
There are several more examples of how this all fits together, buuuuutā€“
Yaā€™ll wanna compare some allegories?
Those familiar with my content might already know where Iā€™m going with this as Iā€™ve made a post about Louis and the piano in the past.Ā
You see, I believe that there are allegories for Louis and Violetā€™s hearts present in their routes: Louisā€™ piano, and Violetā€™s pin.Ā
I already have a thorough, in-depth analysis of Louis and the piano that you can read, so all Iā€™ll say about it is that on the night of the raid, he asked Clementine to carve a piece of herself into his heart so that no matter what, their initials will be immortalized together in its woodā€¦
And that makes me fucking feral.Ā
But I'm also so normal about it.
As for Violet, her heart is the star gazing pin she gives to Clementine. She gives it to her so sheā€™ll always remember that nightā€¦ but she doesnā€™t give it to her until after Clementineā€™s saved her, and that fascinates me in the context of it being allegory.Ā
Louis asks Clementine to carve herself into his heart right before the raid, cementing that from that moment on, he is utterly devoted to her. I believe this is part of the reason why Louis is still happy to see her if heā€™s the one whoā€™s captured. Yes, yes, heā€™s also incredibly traumatized from having his tongue cut out and heā€™d be happy to see anyone, yada yadaā€¦ but listen, if you romance Louis and heā€™s captured, his heart remains with herā€”that piano with their intitals is on full display. When he sees her, heā€™s still so devoted to her that he refuses to accept that itā€™s at all her fault. Even when she says it is, he shakes his head... and he so easily accepts her when theyā€™re together in the end. From the moment Clementine puts knife to wood, heā€™s hers.Ā
Now, lookā€¦ you might think Iā€™m going somewhere not great with this but hear me out.Ā
I think after Clementineā€™s gone star gazing with her, Violet is fully ready to give her heart to her. Yā€™know, give her the pin. But, think about what Violet said about how people have left, but Clementine came back. Plus, with the impending raid to think about, maybe Violet should keep the pin until the right moment.Ā
I believe a key difference between her and Louis is that Violet needs one last thing to solidify that Clementineā€™s the one.Ā
Louis gives her his heart prior to the raid because of everything thatā€™s already gone down between them following Marlonā€™s death. Violet needs to know that Clementineā€™s willing to fight for her the way she fought before. When Clementine saves her from the raiders, itā€™s solidified. Even after she sees Minerva again, it changes nothing.
Itā€™s also worth noting that the pin is something Clementine wears. Like the piano carving, itā€™s a piece on display for everyone to see, to let them know whose heart Clementine has.
Violet literally handed Clementine her heart as a means of saying, ā€œIā€™m yours. Iā€™m devoted to you.ā€Ā
This is why romanced/captured Violet is devastating, and is why she behaves the way she does in the cells. She was so ready to give her heart away and then nope, sorry, Vi! You get knocked unconscious by raiders instead!Ā
If anything, you kind of deserve to be told to fuck off if you romanced her and then let her get captured. Just sayinā€™.Ā
Look, I have a lot of complicated feelings about the captured violentine route, mostly with Violet being as forgiving as she is after her eyes are burnedā€”yes, yes, I know, her eyes are burned and Minerva messed with her head so of course now sheā€™s not hostile, yada, yada.Ā
But I think itā€™s rather telling that you donā€™t get the pin in this route. Sure, Violetā€™s willing to forgive and possibly pursue this romance in the futureā€¦ but sheā€™s not ready to hand over her heart, not truly. Not after everything thatā€™s happened.Ā
And if you want to get extra angsty about it, imagine that Violet made the pin right after they parted ways, but before the raiders came. Meaning that if sheā€™s captured, itā€™s possibly still sitting somewhere, abandoned.Ā
Mmhmmm, very normal about this. I feel normal. My normalness about this continues... normally. I'm not losing my shit thinking about that. Nope. Why would I? I wouldn't! So normal.
Okay just let me talk about their reactions to Tenn's death and then I'll shut up.
This makes me want to gnaw my own foot off, I can barely handle it.
AJ shoots Tenn on the bridge because Clementine trusted him to make the hard calls. This saves Louis or Violet's life.
When Louis jumps across, he's completely silent as he watches Tenn die... and then he's pissed; "What the fuck?! How could you just shoot him like that?!"
AJ explains himself, that he did it for him, and Louis is so upset that he forces AJ to look at what he's done, to watch the walkers eat Tenn; "Tenn's dead. He's dead! Do you realize that?! Look! [...] He's... he's gone, because of you. Just fucking gone."
If Clementine says AJ saved his life, Louis says, "So what, we just cut him loose? Gun him down like he was nothing?"
If Clementine says nothing, Louis says, "Tenn was just a little boy!"
The reason Louis responds this way is because in this moment, he just relived Marlon's death all over again, but worse. So, SO much worse!
When Violet jumps across, she breaks down, begging, "Oh, my God! Oh, my God! No, no! No, no, no..." as she watches Tenn die... and then says to AJ, "No! What the fuck?! How could you do that?!"
AJ explains himself, that he did it for her, and Violet is faaaar from okay; "For me? I can't... Tenn is gone! That soft little boy who liked to draw, he's gone, because of you!"
If Clementine says AJ saved her life, Violet says, "You think that's okay?! Just gunning down one of our own?!"
And there it is.
Louis is hardened in this situation because he already went through this... Violet hasn't, not with AJ. She softened up throughout her route due to her relationships to him and Clementine... but this is the moment where she realizes that maybe AJ wasn't as justified as she believed, and this is the consequence.
This leads us to the ending where AJ asks if they're still mad about him killing Tenn, and I just... I'm biting my foot right now because the script has flipped.
Louis is forgiving and understanding. He's soft, he's sympathetic, he shakes AJ's hand to let him know that all is forgiven and they're okay; "I... AJ, I guess it's like... You saw something I didn't. About the situation, I mean. Minnie and the walkers and Tenn, it's just all this chaos in my head when I think back on it. [...] Clem says you saved my life? Well, then, that's exactly what you did. And how can I stay mad at anyone for doing that?"
Or, alternatively, "He was your friend, AJ. I know you are hurting just as much as I am."
As for Violet? She's understanding, too... but she's not quite ready to forgive yet; "The thing you said on the bridge...that he was messing up all the time. It wasn't something new, you know. Tenn got himself or other people into trouble all the time, long before you guys got here. He was always so lost. He lived in a world that just...isn't there, you know? And that's why I tried to look after him. But when I was pulling him away from the walkers, and Minnie, I could also see...he just wasn't there anymore."
"So you're mad, but sad."
"Can I be that for a while?"
And it's completely understandable that she's hurting and struggling with how she feels about AJ moving forward! She wants to be okay, she wants to forgive him, she just needs time.
Now, because I'm forever bitter, but I'm gonna mention this as well: whenever I see someone point at Violet's scene and say, "See!? This is how LOUIS should've acted in ep2!" like... they're telling on themselves again. Not just that they don't understand Louis as a character or his route, but that they don't fully grasp Violet's part in this either. Or time frames, for that matter.
Let me put it to you in simple terms... they react the same.
After Marlon and Tenn die, they're upset. They're pissed. They blame AJ and yell at him. After they've had time to process what happened [Louis after the two week time skip, Violet after time passes between the bridge and the ending] they share the same, "I'm still upset about Marlon/Tenn. Can I be that for a while and still be your friend?" sentiment.
The difference is that Louis is treated poorly for it because of the vote, and because we feel it first hand for longer... Violet got to grieve off screen and come back after she's sorted herself out.
It's a disservice to both of their characters because it's rooted in that same mentality that I criticized at the beginning: "This is why one is better than the other."
Do I need to say it again? I'm gonna say it again.
One is not good and the other bad. They're different.
There are so many fun discussions that could come from putting Louis and Violet side by side, and examining them. I haven't even covered the different ways they're introduced, or compared their ep3 dates to see what it says about them and the overall narratives! What about the cell scenes!? How they react when Dorian's about the cut off their fingers! The way they approach James upon meeting him!
That last one in particular is especially funny! They're all under stress about blending in with a herd of walkers to infiltrate a boat to save their friends, and yet Louis easily saunters up to the guy wearing walker skins with a smile, and makes him laugh by saying, "Functional and fashionable. I'll take two."
Violet approaches James like he's an injured wild animal that's going to bite her, and bless her heart, she tries with, "I, uhā€¦ hey. Hey there, James. Sorry about Willy." Then James gives her this judgmental side-eye, like buddy? She's not the weirdo here.
There is so much potential to dissect here, and I want to see people do it... but I want them to do it fairly, in good faith.
I want to get away from the idea of comparing them to "prove" which is better because there is no objective better. There isn't! That's a waste of time!
I'm so done with The Debateā„¢; it's unhelpful, it's annoying, and it's boring as shit. I've heard it all before, and you probably have, too.
I want to put Louis and Violet under a microscope and study them with the thought process of, "one does this and the other does that... what does it mean!? what does it say about the narrative!? Oh my god, they have the same opinion on this thing, WRITE THAT DOWN!"
So yeah, that's my ramble for the night.
I'm gonna go replay TFS for further research.

like water through weeping rock
Hollyleaf looks exactly the age at which she died. Looking at her, Jayfeather feels his age in every creaking bone, every painful joint. He wonders what image heā€™ll take, when he ascends to the stars: will he be young, unburdened by knowledge or secrets or death? Will he assume the shape closest to his sister, when sheā€™d been back and theyā€™d fallen into their old habits, their old piles of pelts and purrs? Would he be older than her in death, an age sheā€™d never reach ā€” the shape he had been when he had forgiven his mothers? When he had trained Alderheart fully? Or would it be a form he hadnā€™t yet discovered, one far away and shrouded by time?
Hollyleaf hadnā€™t lived to be anything other than a young cat. Jayfeather has the opportunity to grow old, to die peacefully in the eldersā€™ den, to walk the forest paths for season upon season. But his sister looks happy here, content in a way she had never been in life. The weight of the forest has been shrugged from her shoulders, and as she approaches, he sees echoes of her spin around him, muddying the skies with turmoil and fear and anger. Each defining moment sinks into his soul as easily as one sinks into their nest, eased by the peace sheā€™d found with herself before she had died. He edges away from the ideas of the futures she could have had that pelt him like sleet ā€” stinging pains against his face like staring into rain-drenched winds.
ā€œHolly,ā€ he says instead, a relieved sigh that rips almost violently through his chest.
ā€œJay,ā€ she returns warmly, pressing her starlight-cold cheek into his own. A purr rattles in her throat, warming him from nose to tail-tip.
Itā€™s been years since she died, but it feels like moments as her loss carves through his chest once more. ā€œItā€™s good to see you,ā€ he whispers.
ā€œYou see me every moon, you goof,ā€ she returns. He can feel her whiskers twitch against his spine in amusement.
Jayfeather closes his eyes, shutting away his star-given sight, and focuses on the scent of his sister underneath the tang of night sky. ā€œItā€™s not enough,ā€ he murmurs.
ā€œNo,ā€ Hollyleaf agrees. ā€œIt never is. But itā€™s more than most cats get.ā€
ā€œMost cats donā€™t spend their lives in service to the stars,ā€ Jayfeather replies. Itā€™s an old argument, the familiarity making the words easy.
ā€œIt would have been nice,ā€ Hollyleaf says, ā€œto live a life with you and Lion, no matter the form it took.ā€
Jayfeather is struckā€”again, again, againā€”by how young the ghost she inhabits is. ā€œIt would have been wonderful,ā€ he says softly. Heā€™s not here for this ā€” for a too-brief conversation with his dead sister ā€” but he thinks the stars can afford him this, a few stolen moments with the sibling they stripped away.
Cruel, unnecessary; callous and cold as starlight. Thereā€™s grief blanketed over his shoulders, bitterness spreading on his tongue. None of these are unfamiliar to him. He knows what Hollyleaf chose. He knows heā€™s lucky that the stars took her at all.
He knows that Cinderpelt was given a second chance, even though the life sheā€™d lived was one that sheā€™d loved.
Hollyleaf looks at him steadily. Thereā€™s no sympathy or pity in her gaze, and heā€™s thankful for this cat who knows him so well.
She seems dimmer than she was last moon, and the moon before. He wonders if heā€™s imagining that sheā€™s fading, but knows he isnā€™t. He knows that sheā€™ll be gone before him, taken again from those who loved her best. The living world forgets ā€” thereā€™s no such thing as permanency for the cats who swear their lives to the stars. And foreverā€¦? What is forever?

Thinking about Jon and Martin and ā€œIā€™d understand if you hate me right now.ā€ and ā€œWhat? No! Martin, I love you.ā€
Martin who has never known conflict and disagreement without resentment. Whoā€™s mother looked at him only in disdain and hatred. Whoā€™s father left when he was nine. Martin who is so sure that the man he loves would flip the tables 360 over an argument. Martin who definitely has abandonment issues that we donā€™t talk about enough.
Jon who doesnā€™t tell people how he feels. Who half the time doesnā€™t even know how he feels. Who grew up building walls and feigning skepticism. Jon who only ever said the words ā€œI love youā€ to Martin and his cat (which, mind you, is very real of him). Jon who has spent years hiding from monsters and making decisions he never wanted to have to make, watching those he loved face the consequences beside him.
And how in the end, their love for one another juxtaposes many of the actions they perform on their own. They love each other so much that it changes their narrative. And in the end (just as they confessed to one another) thatā€™s it. Thatā€™s the core of it. Their love.
They literally invented romance your honor. I hate them so much.

itā€™s been four months since December 2022 and Iā€™m still not over the fact that Reigen was apparently so haunted by guilt from that one time in S2E2 where he scolded Mob for eating too many french fries that it showed up in the super emotionally charged eyecatcher montage during the series finale.
Tumblr media
I wonder if reigen will ever find the closure he needs to free himself from the poltergeist of regret that obviously follows him around as a result of this incident. the confession incident really had reigen re-evaluating everything from the past three years.

Iā€™m having so much fun reading all the meta for the first episode of 4 Minutesā€¦ I didnā€™t think I had anything to contribute but actually I do have one thing that keeps rattling in my brainā€¦
Iā€™ve seen a lot of people speculating on the relationship between Tonkla and Korn and what exactly it is thatā€™s happening there, so I just wanted to throw my two cents into the ring!
How I am reading it is that Korn is the golden child, daddies boy as it were, so therefore hypothetically would need (particularly because his step mom seems a bit obsessed with image) an advantageous/auspicious (at least on the outside) marriage THEREFORE I would think it would be highly likely that his marriage, if not 100% arranged, would absolutely have to be given the blessing of his parents.
I say this because when his father called he didnā€™t say he was with Tonkla he said he was with Fasai, who is a woman if you go on MDL, and not only a woman but a woman who his father knows and who is connected enough with an uncle his father knows that lying and saying Fasai is having dinner with said uncle isnā€™t suspicious.
So hereā€™s what Iā€™m thinking:
1. Fasai is a girlfriend/ fiancƩe chosen/supported by Korns parents
2. Tonkla is an unfit partner for our golden boy either because of a lower class background or the fact heā€™s a man or both and so therefore Korn does not want him introduced to the family
3. So Tonkla is a side piece to Korns actual fiancĆ©e and is absolutely aware he is a side piece (I donā€™t think the doing it raw request was a test I just think it was wishful thinking on his part to go further I think they were in a relationship before the fiancĆ©e was in the picture and they did do it raw before but once fiancĆ©e arrived it became safe sex all the time) tho itā€™s an okay situation for him (heā€™s financially benefiting) he isnā€™t exactly happy having to share
3. I think the conflict will arise from Korn not wanting to take any steps forward to maybe not hide Tonkla away like some dirty little secret and Tonkla will get fed up and leave the whole situation.
Anywaysā€¦ just my hypothesis, Iā€™m very excited to see where this one goes!
