This isn't a confession, I just wanted to have a discussion about this because I'm curious to see if anyone else feels the same way. Does anyone else feel like Sly 4 sort of retroactively lowered your opinion of Sly 3? Because I've realized a lot of the poor writing decisions in Sly 4 stem directly from flaws in Sly 3's own writing. For example, I hated the villain twist with Penelope in Sly 4. But I've actually seen a few people defending it, saying that Penelope was always kind of sketchy with her whole Black Baron persona. And to be honest, they're kind of not wrong. Sly 3 never really did give us much of an explanation for why the hell Penelope acts so different as the Baron. Honestly, as the Baron she's fucking RUTHLESS. She's willing to cheat and kill to win, is capable of fist fighting Sly on the wing of a moving plane, etc. Yet afterwards she acts all sweet, helpless and innocent and gets used as a damsel in distress multiple times, despite us seeing her combat capabilities as the Baron? Begrudgingly, I can kind of see how Sanzaru (or anyone else) could get the impression that there's something "off" about her.

I also hated the Carmelita belly dancing bit in Sly 4 and thought it was fucking gross. But to be honest, Sly 3 itself sort of set a precedent for treating Carmelita this way. "Carmelargea" from the Rumble Down Under level was maybe less overtly sexual but no less gross. They literally had us climbing up her pants for that fight. You can't look at that and tell me someone on the Sly 3 dev team didn't have a giantess fetish. So them skimping on giving Rumble Down Under a proper antagonist just so that they could instead have the Mask of Dark Earth as an excuse to enlarge Carmelita is... pretty sleazy, actually.

Then there was the whole Sly faking amnesia thing. During Sly 4 I couldn't help but feel like Carmelita was being a little hypocritical for her anger at being lied to by Sly. She literally lied too. She lied to someone she thought was an amnesiac about his identity. Which just sort of highlights how bad the end of Sly 3 is. They decided to have Sly and Carmelita start off their new relationship based on lies? Ok then.

I'm not sure if I would go so far as to say that Sly 4 changed my opinion of Sly 3, but there are some valid points here.

As far as Penelope's huge personality shift from the Baron to her normal self, I think it was partly to throw people off of the reveal that the Baron IS Penelope. Hell, Penelope even helps the gang in Episode 3 by defending their hangar from goons looking to wreck their plane, whereas the Baron seems to have no issues with foul play and engages in it often. Thinking about it deeper, the Baron might have become a full-fledged alternate personality for Penelope since she was using the ruse so often and got pumped up by people treating him as a celebrity. When she gets some sense slapped into her after fighting Sly, I think it snapped her out of this pattern and she was able to let it go. As far has how strong the Baron is, there's theories that the Baron suit is actually a cybernetic situation that greatly enhances her physical abilities, which I think holds water because her natural abilities are more tailored to her technical know-how and inventions. Once she abandons the Baron suit, she abandons the raw strength and ruthlessness the Baron gave her. I've held the opinion that her turning more villainous in Sly 4 is not necessarily out of nowhere, it was just written horribly and abruptly IMO. There's nothing we see leading up to it that makes it make sense, it just happens. Had it been handled differently, I think it would have been received much better.

As far as giant Carmelita...yeah, I got nothing. Probably a case of the "writer's poorly disguised fetish" meme because I remember being 11 years old thinking "This is...odd." But by then I had also developed an attraction to both Sly and Carmelita, so I rolled with it lol.

The show was amazing! she tells her friend as they plan their next move for the night. They’re both numb due to all the emotions he left on the stage. She’s emotionally raw and physically drained but thankful she was there. Or at least that’s the mantra she keeps repeating over in her head as they exit the arena for the final time. 

That was phenomenal! A perfect ending to an amazing run! His family and friends tell him backstage. He isn’t sure what he’s feeling at this point yet, everything is too fresh, too new, his tears haven’t even dried yet. He regrets not finding her or trying sooner. He internally mourns what could have been and what may never be. 

Meanwhile her and her friend roam the streets of Seoul in search of something to soothe the tumultuous emotions raging in their souls. I'm recently found out about Ghost x Roach ship and looked it up along with others ghostroach fics you and other recommended.

What I'm curious is, what made you ship it? What moments of them made you ship them? What hints have you seen from them? Or was it "I think it's a neat ship"? And I don't play cod nor likely would play it in the future. But I did watch the walkthrough of the og cod mw and still trying to finish it.

I'll admit, there honestly isn't much in terms of hints in the games/in canon that prove these two would be a good couple/in love, and it's mostly due to the early fandom efforts that helped elevate the likability of ghostroach.

That being said I'm sure me and other ghostroach shippers can agree that a large reason why this ship is so appealing is more or less the "they died together" and the "doomed love/lovers" trope that makes room for so much angst (which we all know fandoms EAT UP) <-- This is the reason why I personally ship them I just love tragic couples

The og MW games came out when I was pretty young and yk how kids tend to hyperfixate on the most random things. Mine just happened to be og Ghost, and since we play as Roach I suppose me getting into GhostRoach was a bit like self insert?

But at the same time I thought of Roach as his own character and the fact that he didn't have a backstory (or really any info), that gave people the opportunity to give Roach any personality/quirks that they desired lol.

He was like a blank canvas for writers/artists to just throw their ideas on, and it's pretty common for people to ship their OCs with the most popular character, who, for MW2, would've been Ghost.

It's harder now to find the older content, but back then I remember GhostRoach being pretty popular (or as popular as a ship from COD back then could be) and I did notice people liked to make Roach out to be Ghost's perfect dichotomy, which seems to have stuck, as a lot of GR writers/artists nowadays, including myself, like to portray these two as two opposites that attract.

And with Ghost having a hella angsty backstory combined with him being a bit of a closed off, cold, soldier, it kinda seemed inevitable that ghostroach would become a thing, with people back them headcanoning Roach as a more optimistic, wide-eyed, type of person (and we all know people LOVE the brooding, hardassed, broken character falling in love with the caring, more lively and human character)

Even tho canon doesn't really offer much, there are still small moments that people love to bring up when justifying this ship. Like when Ghost specifically requests to be teamed with Roach on the op to raid Makarov's safehouse, as well as near the end of the Loose Ends mission where Ghost is the one dragging Roach's injured body to safety whilst reassuring Roach that he's got his back. And of course, when Shepherd betrays them, Ghost screams when Roach gets shot and immediately tries to apprehend Shepherd (him screaming "No!" just sounded so shocked and pained). All these moments made it seem like Ghost really cared about Roach.

The way these two died was pretty jarring, if I remember correctly I think even news articles were talking about this plot twist and their deaths. So these two are pretty well-cemented in video game history.

At the end of the day, though, GhostRoach is a pretty "I think this is neat" kind of ship. It's definitely enhanced by the nostalgia of the old games and the factor of being able to project onto Roach as a blank character lmao, but yeah you can't deny that people are gonna hyperfixate the hell outta the pairing that's always doomed to end tragically.

I feel like I could go on and on about them but I don't want to subject y'all to my messy rambles haha but if anyone wants to add their own thoughts I'd love to see it!

LETTERS. LETTERS ALL THE WAY. the tintin universe most definitely takes place before cellphones are a Thing (the last fully finished tintin comic, tintin and the picaros, was published in 1976), so texting isn't really an option. of course phone calls could be possible, but with how much tintin travels around the world, all those long-distance calls would get expensive fast! letters are much easier to opt for. :)

besides, I find it adorable to imagine us writing long and sappy letters about how much we miss eachother and how we can't wait to see eachother again! 🥺💖 I would worry about him a lot and always ask him if he's doing okay and make sure he hasn't gotten himself into too much trouble (but this is tintin... that's unavoidable! who is tintin, first of all? why, tintin is a world famous reporter! and for good reason - there's nothing he can't do and no mystery he can't solve!

though he resides in brussels, belgium, he regularly travels all over the globe in search of adventure and people to help with his faithful dog snowy (milou in french, the original language of the comics)!

he's kindhearted, selfless, heroic, and he's always looking out for those who are less fortunate than him. though he works as a reporter, he's not seen very often actually writing reports - he spends most of his time making the headlines rather than writing them! seriously, you would not believe the amount of drug trafficking rings this guy has busted, LMAO.

he's... more or less Perfect in that he, as a character, barely has any flaws. he's got RIDICULOUS plot armour and can get himself out of pretty much any situation. he's very talented!!

I LOVE HIM A LOT. I admire him. he's wonderful. I was very curious about him for a long time (particularly the past few recent years, as though I saw him in passing as a kid I didn't really care, LOL - I was never much of a reader), and I kinda had a feeling that I would Really Like Him A Lot if I knew more about the series, and, well... Trinity Amethyst and Violet the Hedgehog in Movie form

So I actually really wanted to redesign the characters a bit for this, all Team Star's undercover, incognito forms have hoodies, but Trinity has her hair in braids instead of in a ponytail like before in movie form.

Just know I'd REALLY like it if y'all could help me get these guys in the fifth or sixth movie! I know that if you've been a fan of mines for quite some time you'd know how I'd ask you guys to help get some things in Pokémon games, and you did! So only if you could, I'd love it if you guys could help me get these guys in the movie!

Also, I'm making Emerald Eclipse the Wolf, Mary Ann the Lamb, and Penny the Panda in the movie too.

(CHANGES TO THE CHARACTERS AND MORE UNDERCUT!!!)

About the Movie! Trinity Amethyst the Dog:

So first off, she and the rest of Team Star don't come from Mobius, but they come from a different world.

In the different world, it's pretty much like Mobius but it was more like Sonic Forces, but Sonic wasn't there kind of thing.

So Trinity sealed off Infinite in kind of like a suspended animation (learned the meaning when I was 8 watching Sonic X 😉), and hasn't been walen up since.

But that was years ago. So when Sonic caused the blast with his speed (like in the first movie, which is how Tails found him and stuff), that power reached Trinity's world, and Infinite reawaken.

That's where Trinity got her scar on her leg. And the scar is also filled with Phantom Ruby energy.

So after whatever happened in the fourth movie, Infinite reaches Earth and the events of Sonic Forces happen again.

But Trinity and the rest of Team Star (Emerald, Violet, Mary Ann, Penny) aren't too happy with Sonic and his friends, as she attacks them using her powers when she finds them.

So it's basically like Sonic Forces, but with Trinity and Team Star instead of Gadget.

AND Trinity and Team Star are kind of like antiheroes at the beginning of their movie debut.

They're personalities are a little changed too!

NEW PERSONALITIES

So Trinity is an Aquarius with Aquarius vibes ofc. But she's also quite snappy and rude in the movies, especially her debut, lashing out all her anger on Sonic. She also is kind of like the princess of her planet, but hates being all formal and royal; or even being addresses that way. She is also very strategic and tactical, thinking up problem solvers in less than five minutes. (APPEARANCE CHANGES: Now wearing a dress instead of her strapless 'bathingsuit' and leather jacket. Her hair is also in a ponytail instead of just out; not being contained. Her gloves aren't pink, fingerless, have a fluffy outer brim, and have an amethyst in the middle,l anymore, as they have been simplified to just long white silky gloves. Her amethyst is also in a new area, no long being on her gloves, but rather her chest. Her new movie outfit also kinda censors the old one; because I wanted to see how it would turn out.)

And Mary Ann is an Aries, also being her personality, and her being a sheep ofc (lol; unintentional). But in the movies, she's more sentimental and serious; definitely less risk taking then her original version. She also looks out for Trinity more, rather than Trinity look out for her. She was orphaned for a reason I can't think up rn, but Trinity and her family decided to adopt her, making her Trinity's adoptive sister. (APPEARANCE CHANGES WILL BE FEATURED IN NEXT POST LIKE THIS!!)

Violet the Hedgehog has to be a Scorpio due to her personality. She's calm and gentle, but insane when provoked. Don't get on her bad side! So the entire movie, let's just say, Violet has trying to calm Trinity down with her rampage (psychically and verbally). But in the movie, she's also very curious and a little airheaded, not thinking before acting. This is a big issue for when in battle. Also, because of her bangs she is normally considered to be a bear, but she's a hedgehog and that bothers her a lot when other people call her differently. (APPEARANCE CHANGES: So unlike her old outfit, being a turquoise jacket, some jean shorts, and a velvet T-shirt, I slightly altered it to be a longer, more lab-coat like jacket and a velvet crop top sweater.) Her weapon is kind of like a Kusarikama, but no double sided or chains (I hope my memory didnt just embarrass me there)

Emerald Eclipse is definitely an Aries, but more combative and insane than Mary Ann. She definitely likes rock and punk music, also being pretty edgy and emo. In the movies, however, her love for battle increases by a million, raising her combative spirit. Her weapon is mainly moonlight. The darker it is, the powerful she gets. Her howling is also a great weapon in battle. (APPEARANCE CHANGES WILL BE FEATURED IN NEXT POST LIKE THIS!!)

Penny is definitely a Pisces for her kind personality. She's extremely innocent and gentle, and looks up to Trinity a lot. She isn't in the movie very much but only in a cameo.

NO AGE CHANGES IN THE MOVIE!! TRINITY IS 16, EMERALD IS 17, VIOLET IS 15, MARY ANN IS 13, AND PENNY IS 7.

first off, return of a legend: the beach hut

i was fully expecting the compatibility test to be more like the season 1 compatibility test with the zodiacs because that's fun but i guess that's less of a pot stirrer than a fun game to have. though the narrator poking fun at it i guess is making fun of the fandom for thinking it was gonna be horoscopes 🤣

so very obvious ass test though especially with the two answers only about the two guys you're pursuing, which I think is a missed opportunity to throw more lore about the guys in there. or at least make it not as obvious? really goes to show how surface level the characters are compared to, say, the Mr. and Mrs. Challenge towards the end of S2

I'm going for Jin and Max rn so I thought it was funny their personalities were boiled down to "funny" vs "extroverted" and my MC had to pick between the two as if they were mutually exclusive

anyway just nearly got Jin lmao

I'd like them to stop with the Claudia/Theo storyline because it feels like they've already decided they're done with each other and are ready to move on? However, Claudia being compatible with Theo on paper but like not really feeling it is an interesting idea. Like she feels she's got no other option to stay safe except for him and they like each other enough. Meanwhile Bea's settling for Liam because he's shown any interest in her at all. (Let them date each other if MC can't! They deserve better!!)

also I know that I joked about Theo being just some mildly attractive white guy to fawn over and settle for but the way that Claudia is just settling for him? actually upsetting like I'm so sorry, Theo 😟 I didn't mean it I thought he was fine after the first dates 😖

i've already said my piece about Sienna, I love her design. I will admit though, her open mouth smile is a little stilted but people get botox so... not out of the ordinary lol. The bigger problem is how her hand on her hip is a little fucked up (color in between the lines, fusebox!)

as someone not on a Theo route, I really don't understand why he's sticking with Claudia unless he's got some personal turmoil he's working through and trying to actually reform his player ways. And I wish MC could talk to him as a friend and we'd see that. like in the way S2, you get to know Rocco's insecurity about never finishing university and Gary's anxiety even if you aren't on their routes

Anyway I'm still upset at the forcing MC to couple because she's single thing. They could've still had her coupled with Jin (or even with Hari it would work) and then she can either walk in single or with a casa boy. And then she's the main character: just say that the single islanders don't get dumped post casa (like it's SUPPOSED to be) because in that situation, she's the only one! Or if you need the numbers to be right, literally Emel is right there. She can come back to Oakley later if anything

still not the best stick or twist could've gone in terms of drama (or maybe that's just bc I've been looking at spoilers), but compared to S5-6, not too bad (I assume also s7 but tbh I did stop right at stick or twist for that season)

So fyi when I played Casa, I had my MC go for Shawn most of it, and then last minute switched to Max because I remembered she's a musician and I thought that would be cute. That being said, I wish it was like in the too hot to handle game where you unlock certain dialogue if you happen to have something in common with a character. Because why is Max explaining music stuff to my musician MC?

is Hari not an LI? Because they made him seem like one and then just all of a sudden we're not talking about him, it's only about Jin and Casa Boy. And I'm fine with not all the boys being LIs, but it is odd the way he's just shoved to the side in the story

Hari and Hazel are a hot couple though. like I don't love Hari's design but like if he was drawn better?? I see it.

the swimming game is a fun idea but imagining everyone splashing around to get to MC is so funny. like I can hear it in my head and it's not the best game, but for the fictional game in the app it's fine.

although why tf is Theo suddenly interested in MC? I haven't been romancing him at all but for the chat at the pool I couldn't decide between any of the characters I'm actually kind of interested in so I had MC go talk to Theo and then he was also flirting? then the pool game he also thinks MC has the best chat?? sir I barely know you

but here's a little bit more of the last scene i posted!!!

A silence settles over the two of them—on Eren’s end, it’s due to her sheer audacity, mostly because he’s not sure if she’s actually being serious, and on Mikasa’s end, because she expects him to actually agree, awaiting his nod of approval. 

Realizing would be waiting forever for a confirmation she wouldn’t get, Mikasa relents. “Fine. You don’t have to lock yourself in the room all day—do as you wish, I guess,” she says, releasing a huff. “But this brings me back to things we need to discuss.”

“Okay, you’re right, this is your house, your rules. Whatever you want. I’m understanding in that regard,” he concurs. While Eren wants to be firm, he also doesn’t want to make an enemy out of Mikasa—if there’s anything he’s learned so far, she doesn’t seem like someone whose bad side he’d like to be on. “So what do you want me to do, or what do you want to know—I am virtually a stranger that’s being forced to live here, I’m sure you have questions, at least.”

It’s easy for Eren to assume that Mikasa isn’t used to being met with such level-headedness, which is indicated by the slack of her jaw as he speaks, and what he almost thinks is a look of appreciation that washes over her. But he also assumes that she’s in no position to allow her guard to be let down so easily, so the less-than-amicable demeanor quickly returns, any semblance of gratitude gone before it could even be acknowledged. 

“First thing’s first. That room—” she points down the hallway to a closed door opposite to both of theirs “—don’t even think of going in there. I don’t care if you hear me yelling or think I’m dying—let me. Don’t. Go. In. There,” Mikasa says sternly. 

From what Eren gathers, whatever this room entails, it’s enough for Mikasa to not want Eren in there, which he can respect, but the way she speaks of it, he can’t help but be somewhat curious. “What’s in—”

“Don’t worry about it,” she cuts him off, not even bothering to entertain his inquisitiveness. “And anyways, didn’t you just say I was the one who could ask you questions?” 

Eren raises his arms defensively. “Okay, you do the question asking then. Are there any more rules I need to know first, though, since you’re the one running things around here?”

There’s something Eren thinks may even resemble a smile that tugs at her lips but vanishes in an instant. “You’re not going to leave my house a mess, are you? Men tend to be… messy and you certainly don’t strike me as someone who acts like Levi.” Eren can see her eyes size him up, inspecting him—he can’t tell if he’s being scrutinized or if in some way she’s being nosy—either way, the steel of her stare leaves him fraught.

to answer your question, though, they're all part of sleep token!! they're an anonymous four-piece band based outta london, and they've had me in a chokehold for like a month now with no end in sight :')

they've got a lot of interesting experimental music, lyrics and performances that make me want to fucking scream, and a lot of very homoerotic tension that. uh. really adds something to their vibes.

okay everything else beyond that is gonna have to go under a readmore, because i can't shut up now. forgive me y'all

so, to preface this: at this point in time, the band is more or less anonymous. they avoid associating their legal names with the band (although assholes have unfortunately spread them around), they don't show their bare faces if they can help it, and they're incredibly selective about when/how they use their actual voices to speak to the public. they use stage names in lieu of their actual names; vessel, ii, iii, and iv. they have a whole story and lots of lore behind the band that and i could ABSOLUTELY get into it but i have a feeling that's not what's wanted here so. holding off on that for now :')

anyways... the members! woo!! im way too excited to stop now. forgive me. you don't have to read any of this, im just talking because i don't know when i'll have the chance to do so again

to start. this guy is vessel :::)

he's the main vocalist, songwriter, and one of the two composers in the band. he also plays piano/keyboard though, and for their current studio recordings, he does a lot of the guitar, bass, and synthesizer parts, along with taking the role of co-producer. a very talented man :)

i just think he's a fascinating guy. very raw and emotional on stage in a way im not used to seeing; he puts everything he has into what he does, and WOW, it really shows.

moving on to the next guy, though: here's ii!

he's the drummer and one of the founding members, alongside vessel. he's also the only other composer for the band, and if i remember correctly, he occasionally does some of the songwriting as well!

he's an absolute fucking beast on the drums though, holy shit. watching him play is like watching someone conduct an orchestra (don't know if that makes sense but just trust me bro).

at the moment, ii is the only member of the band to have ever done a video interview on behalf of sleep token. he was still fully masked up, though, and they applied some really heavy filters over his voice to make him harder to identify. still, that's a very recent development and it's exciting to me :)

NOW... we have iii!

he's the band's live bassist! at the moment he doesn't really do much in the studio since he was *technically* a touring musician, but it really seems like he's gonna be a more permanent fixture in the band along with iv so i wouldn't be surprised if he gets a more active role in the future.

this guy's energy is contagious, and i don't think the band would be the same without him now. he's the only one who uses his regular voice when he's with the band, so he spends a lot of time yelling and screaming at the crowd because it riles them up. it's very entertaining lol.

also, unrelated, but he asked for his new mask to mirror iv's new mask because they're really close, which i think is very sweet :')

and finally... we have iv

he's the live guitarist and backup vocalist! mostly backup screams, because this motherfucker can WAIL. he's the newest addition to the band, taking the place of another guitarist who went by the same moniker.

he's in the same spot as iii is as far as his role in studio recordings goes, but he really seems like he's here to stay just like iii is.

i adore this guy though. he's just so.... AGH. a talented guitarist with powerful vocals. and he's hot (they all are) but i told myself i wasn't gonna talk about that in this post so shhhh.

arthur (frisk): honestly literally just bc. protagonist LMAO w/ the motivations ive assigned him in this au tho, it makes him remind me more of clover from undertale yellow a lot, with that idea of seeing all this happening and getting curious, and trying to figure out what happened. also jumping down a mountain to find where his daughter went sounds like smth he would do LMAO . also look at him and tell me he would not be a red/determination soul type . episode 43 but it refused looking ass /J

faroe (chara): i thought abt having her as asriel instead (and john as chara) and possibly having arthur be frisk's age, but i ended up making her chara after having the idea of her still being arthur's kid and the implications/backstory there :3

john (flowey/asriel): asriel 🤝 john: not in their own bodies for the majority/whole of their respective source (to date) . also the whole thing w/ john having to be Taught emotion (as shown by the foil yellow creates, really showing arthur that like. john's humanity wasnt nature, but nurture, and by. (gestures to oscar LOL-)) rather than straight up feeling it reminds me of how like. flowey straight up cant feel that - and when he does, like in the genocide route (where he becomes afraid of frisk, and then explicitly afraid for his life), he doesnt really recognize the feeling . in this way i Guess you could compare him to yellow more, but like . yellow doesnt have a significant enough impact on the story to make sense as flowey/asriel LOL

oscar (toriel): mostly abandonment parallels 👍GLKJSHF . to be more specific, oscar like. knows arthur for a relatively short amount of time and immediately decides that he's his life purpose. toriel barely knows frisk and immediately refers to them as her child . they both have to deal with the idea that like, they were wrong, that frisk/arthur wasn't going to stick with them . also the fact that after frisk/arthur leaves, there's either a pretty good chance they're not gonna see oscar/toriel again (or its gonna be a while <- oscar return truther /silly) <3

noel (sans): mostly the idea of noel knowing more than meets the eye . unlike sans, he actually has personal experience with the more inner workings of the world (ie. sans doesnt have concrete proof that alternative timelines exist, but sussed out that they probably near certainly most likely do, but noel was literally and figuratively through the trenches of this shit LOL (ww1 pun intended <3)

butcher (papyrus): this one's one of the ones i dont really have much explanation for . the butcher in this au is 90% different from papyrus anyways LMAOO

yellow (undyne): ditto kinda . he and undyne tend to express frustration in similar ways from what ive noticed LOL

larson (alphys): kinda ditto but less so . he may not have the anxiety that alphys has but like . he's also a "more than meets the eye" kinda character, but in a more obvious way than noel; kinda like alphys is to me . like . she's the royal scientist, i dont think building a robot and watching a kid go through the underworld is all she does . LOL (also considering the admiration he shows kayne in part 40 pt. 2, the idea of larson being the one who built kayne is funny to me LGKJHSF)

kayne (mettaton): they're both rather extravagant . idk abt y'all but i feel like kayne knows there's some sort of audience beyond whoever he's immediately talking to . mettaton may not break the 4th wall in that way, but he is still a performer LOL (... also once again: look at any mtt dialogue and tell me he wouldnt say that /SILLY)

the king in yellow (asgore): king. yeah thats 90% of it LOL 👍

6. What's your favorite type of art or fic? What genre/flavor/style?

The ones that are catered specifically to me. Lol 😂 But in all seriousness, I'm not sure. I just like slice of life fanfic that explores dark themes. Sometimes fluff for fluffs sake is good too, but I always lean on the hurt/comfort part of things.

Like the comfort has to be earned and mean something for me.

10. What keeps you in this fandom despite the very small amount of canon content the DA had?

Ceph. Like singlehandedly they dragged me in here and now I can't leave.

But I think it's the amount of content for Security Breach and the AI being fully sentient now that provides me more content and makes me far more interested in the fandom back in the day when it was just all theories, horror and cursed screaming children.

16. What's something in the fandom you'd like to see more of?

UTILIZE THE FULL CAST OF SECURITY BREACH AND IT'S LOCATIONS.

Like outside from just the Glamrocks giving a thumbs up or "lol" at shipping the Daycare Attendent with y/n shananigans.

I love the Security Breach characters too much to see them relegated to background characters and supporting cast. Or just their in game base traits when so much time is given to develop the DA who has less screentime.

I know it's still early in my fic and people think my Monty is a bully, but we just haven't seen him enough and I have like the entirety of Monty lore planned out along with Chica's and Roxy's and DJMM.

I just want to see more characters involved in the story and plot outside of just the Daycare Attendent.

Especially characters like Vanny who a lot of fans like to pretend she doesn't exist.

I always feel Moon's relationship with Vanessa (and/or Vanny) is weird.

Moon knocks out Freddy and drags him to parts and service where Vanessa is waiting.

Vanessa tempts Gregory to check the main stage for a reward and Moon is waiting to instakill you.

It paints the picture of Moon being her little lapdog. More than the other Glamrocks who don't do anything special or specific for Vanny/Vanessa.

To just write Vanny out of the narrative like she's a figment of the past or never existed is really a disservice.

Security Breach was SUPPOSED to be Vanny's game. And yet, the fans won't give her any satisfaction in being the next generation of Afton.

She gets even less content than a stupid clown with anxiety and for some reason the fans are just.... uninterested in her?

If you go with the "Vanny and Vanessa are the same person" angle..... Then she's suffered even for longer and more horribly than Moon angst. Cause she's been physically stabbing children to death against her will.

Can you imagine the mental strain that can put someone under??? Like...during, before and after this? Knowing what you'll be forced to do, doing it and have done it, knowing this will all happen and there's nothing you can do?

This is almost like the Alphys situation in Undertale all over again. Where Alphy's accomplishments and angst is given to Sans or Gaster. And I can't help but be a little salty. Just a tad.

I am also including the eventual Blob and shambling Afton corpse in my fic as well.

I know not every fic can be a multi chaptered adventure that gives attention and love to everyone. It's just not realistic.

If you want to focus completely on the DA, that is also good and I won't stop y'all.

I just wish the others, but Vanny especially, and her relationship with the DA got more love.

17. What's something you'd like to see less of?

Sun Ass. Lol joking. You guys are doing God's work and I love the ass memes.

But if I'm serious. I would kinda just appreciate less manipulative Sun.

Like I get it. I do love myself some feral and cheeky Sun, but I kinda feel it's a little contradictory to his character presented in the game, the very short time we spend with him.

Like if my Sun is manipulative, he's only as manipulative as an average five year old.

Like I don't think the guy is a master of psychological manipulation and couldn't gaslight gatekeep girlboss his way out of a paper bag.

The worst I see him doing is stealing Protags keys and not being entirely truthful in motivations for doing so, but I always like perceiving him as a character who's easy to read and wears his emotions on his sleeve.

Like in-game, even if he didn't disclose the reasons he wanted the lights on, it was pretty clear that he was distressed before he fully jumps on the desk and screams at Gregory.

I just can't see him as being crafty or manipulative that much.

Or if he does, it's pretty obvious in his intentions. Like, it works for children, but not for adults.

I am one of those nonnies who enjoys reading your and EssayofThoughts' contrasting opinions. I love how the CR community's fanfic writers are all friendly with one another despite differences in headcanons; y'all make nonnies like me feel comfortable with asking fandom questions cuz you're so darn awesome~! So, my question for today is... what is your opinion on... virgin!Percy? Both in your fics and in canon?

Hi anon! I wouldn’t say we *all* know eachother - there are several I admire and haven’t had the guts to start a conversation with yet lol - but I’d say there’s a nice lil nest of Campaign 1 fic people who are really great to chat with! The last few asks like this I’ve gotten, I’ve immediately jumped into Essay’s dms all ‘GUESS WHAT I JUST GOT :D’ lmao, I’m glad we can provide interesting dialog! <33 Our opinions are generally pretty similar, just differences in degrees. 

Now, for the question itself - I honestly don’t really have any strong opinions on Percy’s level of experience? Bla bla bla virginity is a social construct and all, and I can see the strengths to both. 

On one hand, Percy is fairly introverted, and could very easily have avoided the entire issue while in Whitestone and had enough trauma regarding the whole ‘was actively tortured’ thing to not be comfortable sleeping with someone. So him not having any prior experience could make sense! You also get to add even more newness to his relationship with Vex, on top of them navigating romance together.

On the other, he was also a noble, and curious as hell, and we know Julius frequented brothels, so if he wanted to give it a try or two it would have been extremely easy. And/or, following the Briarwoods, he could have had some major unhealthy coping mechanisms.

As someone holed up in a lab much the time, on the autism spectrum (which I project a touch onto Percy) and with intimacy issues of my own, I do personally try to lean away from making scientist or autistic-vibes characters into these beings with little to no sexual desire of their own. It’s… a messy issue, but I personally bristle a lil when the default HC for someone similar to me is ‘ah, virgin who is distanced from such Basal Desires until their more sexual partner introduces them to The World of Pleasure’. So I usually lean towards ‘eh an okay amount of physical experience, but little in the ways of emotional connections’.

Glancing at my fics, I think in every universe I've explored so far Percy's had some experience, just about as much as he'd like, except even less than usual in Get your hands dirty due to the whole 'Riza Hawkeye-esque tattoos of forbidden knowledge' shit.

TLDR: both virgin!Percy and not have their own strengths relating to what you’d wanna emphasize with his character in a given fic (isolation and trauma and Newness vs curiosity and/or terrible coping mechanisms and/or diversity in neurodivergent rep*). I personally lean towards the later, BUT it’s not something that I will die on a hill for or think about too much.

Just have fun with it and think through why you're making Percy one or the other in a fic, and remember virginity is a social construct and complete bullshit! :D
