@seachant has swam into the unknown.
Tumblr media
Elsa awoke in a ruin of ice and silence, clutching nothing in her heart except for a strange ache of sorrow. Tears slip down her porcelain face. Though she is plainly crying, she cannot remember the reason for these tears. They begin to freeze over, but she still wipes them away. She will later learn that she is alone in this lonely place, but she still walks cautiously. With no one to talk to, wandering is all that she can do.
Nothing brings forth any memories to her, so she leaves this location to explore the outside world. No one is there to greet her, but it doesn't bring any pain. She feels as free as the wind, but she notices she is stranded. With nowhere else to go, Elsa takes her first slow step upon the quiet shore of the ocean. All is calm on this uneventful night, but no one can prepare her for the surprise of seeing her gift in action. She has no chance to touch the water because it instantly froze over long, no doubt responding to some kind of subconscious side of her magic.
She takes more steps, leaving a trail of frozen footsteps. With her confidence building up, she begins to walk further and further upon the ocean. She looks back after five minutes of silent walking in order to see what happens to her past footsteps. A crack forms on the frozen footsteps until it breaks away completely, sinking into the arms of the ocean. They are no longer held by the magic that flows through her very veins, so they turn to fragile sheets of ice. With nowhere to go, Elsa aimlessly wanders along the surface of the calm ocean.
Her mind is calm, mirroring the calmness of both the sky and the ocean. A splash of water breaks the quiet, louder than a pin drop. She stops her in her tracks, still standing upon the undisturbed floor of the ocean. No mortal should be able to do such a remarkable feat, but Elsa does not have any questions. She glides across the surface of the ocean, effortlessly elegant yet still slow. The wind picks up as soon as she snaps her head to the direction of the noise.
"Who goes there?" She speaks at the same time as the chilly wind howls, but the woman glad in white does not tremble. The voice that leaves her lips is as cold as their environment, but not even hearing her voice for the first time brings back the memories Ahtohallan have taken away from her. The ice gradually begins to spread the longer she stands still, slowly beginning to spread across the ocean. The ice grows closer to reaching the vulnerable heart of a curious maiden, threatening to freeze her heart right there and then.

THE ONE WHERE PEDRO BREAKS YOUR HEART
Tumblr media
Pedro Pascal x f!reader
✨ This is loosely based on Friends season 5, when Emily tells Ross he can't see Rachel anymore ✨
Summary: You were his friend, then you were his girlfriend until you were only his friend again. His current girlfriend isn't happy with your friendship and gives Pedro an ultimatum: he can't see you anymore
Warnings: age gap, friends to lovers, breakup, lovers to friends, sort of unrequited love, asshole!Pedro, angst, hurt, plot inspired by Ross x Rachel (friends) and a little bit of Monica x Richard (if you squint)
A/N: I had a major anxiety attack today just like I hadn't had in months and I was feeling really bad and really sad, so angst ideas started popping in my mind and I thought of writing something like that to help me organize my feelings when this memory of friends came back and I knew I had to do it ❤️

"Are you out of your fucking mind, Pedro?" Ariela placed her hands on her waist and stared at her boyfriend after she dragged him to the restaurant restroom for a private conversation, which turned into an argument.
Pedro shook his head and ran his hand through his hair, sighing as he thought of his words carefully, he didn't know what exactly to tell her. He knew his girlfriend might be angry, but if she could invite her own girl friends to a trip he was paying for, he figured he was allowed to invite you as well, after all, you were his friend. The one he loved the most, at least.
"What's so bad about it? You got your friends here, so you wouldn't be bored, because apparently you cannot spend more than a day alone with me without dying…" Ariela rolled her eyes
"Don't turn this against me! You were the one who invited that girl, she isn't just your friend, she's your ex… for God's sake, you hug too much, you hold hands, you touch her leg… Pedro, when she got here you nearly greeted her with a peck on the lips! Don't you realize how fucked up this is?" Ariela said angrily, she'd talked to him about this weird relationship with you a couple of times but Pedro never took a decision. He wasn't your boyfriend anymore but he couldn't stop himself from acting like it once you two were together.
Ariela also hated you, she hated you because you had broken up with him, and yet, you were also incapable of moving on, you had always claimed you and Pedro had friends in common, but Ariela thought it was ironic how every time she saw you and Pedro together, none of your other friends were around.
Ariela also hated you because she felt threatened by you, the bond you shared with Pedro was too strong, you two finished each other's sentences, got along and agreed all the time.
It made her blood boil, because no matter how much she tried being that for Pedro as well, she couldn't.
But then, the tension began dissolving. As much as you and Pedro had the special bond, Ariel appealed to the weapon she had against you: sex.
You weren't having sex with Pedro, not after you two broke up, but she was and she gave him a lot of it. Their relationship was more sexual than anything else, but it was enough to keep him with her for several months. And then she began feeling comfortable, thinking she was finally being able to compete with you.
But having Pedro inviting you to meet him in Malta was too much.
Ariela saw how Pedro seemed nervous at her enquiry
"Fine, what do you want me to do? What do I have to do to please you and prove to you Y/N and I have nothing going on?"
Ariela paced the small place. She hated the fact she had to lock herself in a restroom to talk with her nonsense boyfriend when she could be spending his very few days off.
"You can't see Y/N anymore, Pedro. It's enough. Your connection should have ended when you two broke up, well, when she broke up with you…" Ariela chuckled softly, knowing it still brought a sting of pain to his chest.
"What? I can't do this, Ariela… Y/N is important to me, she's my friend, we've been friends longer than I've known you…"
"Yeah? Well Pedro, so it's you call, but you gotta man up and make up your mind, it's either me or her…" the woman folded her arms and stared at him "besides, remember she was the one who broke up with you, she didn't want you, she didn't love you anymore. She thought you weren't good enough just because she wanted to play barbie doll house with you, she wanted to trap you with a wedding ring and a baby…" she smirked
"Don't say that! It's not exactly how it went… there was more to it"
"Was it there, Pedro? Really? Am I lying or did you tell me all that yourself?"
Ariela saw his defeated expression as he looked down in shame. His girlfriend was right, as much as he wanted to defend you and pretend it didn't happen, she was right.
"Fine, what am I supposed to do? Tell her to get on a plane and get the fuck out of my life?"
"Exactly, amor. That's exactly what I want you to do" Ariela smirked and leaned in, kissing his lips and dragging him to one of the stalls so they could at least enjoy a little and not waste all the time they had.
You battled yourself as you didn't know if going to the restroom at that moment was appropriate or not, you felt it was kind of weird to leave the table just a few moments after Pedro and his girlfriend did. You knew she hated you and as much as you thought hatred was a strong feeling… yeah, you hated her too.
And her friends, you weren't so sure. Sometimes you thought they were alright and sometimes it seemed they came straight out of a teen movie where they played the mean girls who followed their leader - Ariela - and that was unnerving. You were too old to play that game, and you thought of Pedro, if you felt fed up with that, you could imagine him. He was funny and outgoing and he certainly behaved like a child sometimes, but he wasn't one to appreciate mean comments about people, or about their appearance and other things those insufferable girls often did. You just couldn't understand why Pedro could be with someone like her.
It sounded suspicious to say that, but he was a better person than she was, and you knew he deserved someone better. Someone that couldn't be you, just as your someone couldn't be him, you were just incompatible in what you two envisioned in your relationship, in what you two wanted for the future.
But it had nothing to do with how you felt for each other, because God knew how much you still loved him. You weren't so sure about his feelings concerning you though. Sometimes you were he still loved you, and sometimes you were sure he was already over you.
You bit your lips as you couldn't hold it anymore, you desperately needed to pee and it had to be at that moment, so you excused yourself, earning just a eyebrow raise from the girls and went to the restroom.
You hadn't even thought of how long they were taking in the restroom, it was indeed quite odd, and your heart fell on the pit of your stomach as you thought they were probably having a quickie. You hated how territorial Ariela was over Pedro, especially when you were around. He had always been discreet, until she came along, now every time you watched them together, hands were all over, her lips were on his neck and you would be lying if you said it didn't make you burn with anger and jealousy.
You were about to enter when you heard Pedro's voice saying your name, and then you stopped dead on tracks, your heart racing as he continued whatever he was saying. Eavesdropping was wrong, but you didn't care at all, Pedro was talking about you, and you wanted to know what it was about. You felt an excitement, maybe he was on the phone with someone, talking about you, you liked daydreaming about that. Even if it wasn't right, even if you were the one who had broken things up, you still got carried away by your feelings, their intensity was too much at times and it made you even act foolish. It wasn't polite, you leaned against the door as much as possible, hearing every single word you could catch about his conversation.
He was indeed talking about you, but he was talking about you with his girlfriend, and you felt your heart shattering into a million pieces when you understood what their conversation was about.
Your eyes burned with tears as you heard their words. How she demanded him to stop seeing you, using your breakup as a way to manipulate him, but you knew Pedro better than that, he was going to say no, he was going to stand up for himself and defend you, because that was who he was. He was a nice person, he loved you, even if it was just as a friend, you two had had a long relationship and you always supported each other, he wouldn't just give all that up because of a woman he'd been dating for less than a year.
You felt like bursting into the bathroom, telling her everything you thought about that devious woman, you wanted to remind Pedro how much he meant to you and how much you thought you meant to him, but it was no use, he'd made up his mind, as much as you didn't want to believe he would do it.
A feeling of embarrassment took over you. You felt like an intruder, someone who only bothered the sweet couple and the cute friends and before you could hear Pedro's moans coming from the bathroom stall, you walked back to the table, the girls looked at you with a smirk
"Did you walk on Pedro and Ariela fucking?" They burst out laughing and one of them got her phone, writing something down, while the other girl's phone buzzed.
You felt your blood boiling, they were texting about you while you stood right there, just like mean teenagers. You grabbed your bag and walked out of that place, not giving them a final glance.
You place your sunglasses back on, as it was a sunny day, but they were too dark as your vision was blurry with tears. The pain you felt in your chest was so intense and yet you took your phone and decided to text Pedro, letting him know you were back at the hotel while coming up with some excuse about a migraine; it would be just awkward and uncomfortable to hang out with them as if nothing had happened.
As Pedro finished with his girlfriend and the two of them walked back to the table as if nothing had happened, he immediately frowned to see you were missing, he had no idea where you went, but it felt weird to him.
He still hadn't made up his mind completely, on one hand he never wanted to be away from you. You were just a part of him, you two shared everything and it was just special. However, on the other hand, Ariela did have a point. The two of you were too close and she was right when she said it was uncomfortable for her to see your interaction. He knew he would feel the same if he saw his girlfriend being so familiar with a friend, and she also hit on a very delicate matter to him: how you broke up.
Pedro was always the one to end his relationships, usually because he grew bored after some time or because he fell out of love just as fast as he fell in love with that person in the first place. Commitment wasn't really his cup of tea, but he was kind of accepting the idea as you two evolved from a friendship to a relationship. He loved you, and he also loved being around you. He grew to love the cheesy cliches a relationship often brings, he enjoyed having to exchange gifts on Valentine's day, or have a date night with you every few weeks. Even the nerve-wracking experience of meeting your family - he was afraid of your dad, but he should've been afraid of your mom, because he was sure she hated him - he enjoyed it.
So it came as a shock when you gave him the talk. You'd told him you couldn't try to change him, but you wouldn't change for him either. His career was important to him and you would respect that, but a sense of future was important to you too, you wanted an assurance you would move in together with someone, get married to that person, have a dog or a cat or even both and maybe in the distant future, you would like to have a child. Needless to say, that person wasn't Pedro.
It hurt him because he knew it wasn't just his commitment issues, it was everything: his career, his hectic life, the media harassing him wherever he went and also his age. If you wanted to wait ten years to have a kid, you'd still have plenty of youth left, but if he did the same? Pedro didn't even like considering that.
He sat back at the table and looked around, thinking maybe you'd be somewhere ordering something or just getting to know the environment.
Ariela was back at chatting with friends, and Pedro was back at being silent, having no one to talk to. He got his phone and saw a message coming from you, opening immediately and thought it sounded more like an excuse than anything else, but when he was about to reply, his girlfriend's delicate hands stopped him "enjoy our lunch with us, honey" she pouted as he put his phone aside.
For the rest of the meal, Pedro tried taking you away from his mind, but he didn't know it would be so hard.
The rest of the day, he was alone with his thoughts, Ariela's voice echoing through his head, at the same time memories of the two of you weighed heavily in his heart. He liked Ariela, of course it wasn't the same intensity in which he liked you, but he'd read many times that love could be built, so what assured him it wouldn't happen to the two of them? His relationship was lasting longer than most of his previous ones often did, the fans always commented cute things when they were rarely spotted together getting out and about and the sex was mind-blowing.
He also thought of your friendship and couldn't help but wonder if things would've been easier if he had just let you go when you two stopped being a couple. His need of being around you was the main reason why you went back to being friends; Pedro was convinced he was going to suffer if he didn't have you around, but before Ariela came into the picture, he suffered just as much as he had you close but couldn't touch you.
And he still suffered, because he didn't want to make any choices, but if he had to in order to move on and be happy, he would do it.
Pedro got up from his bed and decided to knock on your door. You were staying on the same floor, so it was a quick walk to it, which was good because he wouldn't have enough time to give up saying what he wanted to say.
You groaned at the knocks on your door, feeling your social battery completely drained after spending your afternoon napping so you would stop crying.
You opened the door as you didn't expect to see Pedro at all, well, you kinda did, but you thought he would wait at least a day before kicking you out of his life.
He could tell you had been crying and he wondered if you knew what he was going to do there, if you would cry too much once he stepped out of your life.
"What do you want, Pedro?"
"We can't see each other anymore, Y/N" he sighed sadly but his expression was firm "I can pay you for the expenses you had to come over here, but I'd appreciate it if you went back home. I'm sorry, but it's time to move on, and I can't if you are around me all the time"
"Pedro? Why are you doing this? It makes no sense, I overheard you and Ariela talking at the restaurant and this is not what you want, it's what she wants…"
"Please Y/N don't be bitter just because my relationship with Ariela works better than the one we had, just please, pack your bags and fly home, I want to enjoy my days off with my girlfriend"
And just like that, Pedro turned his back to you and left you there, he'd made up his mind and you weren't a part of what he wanted in life anymore.
_____
A/N: Oh no, not me basing Pedro x reader on my favorite toxic couple of television! What can I tell you? I like my men like walking red flags ❤️
Also, fun fact: Ariela's character is based on my co-worker, he can be mean and bitchy to people sometimes and it makes me laugh hard and one day he snapped at me and I threatened him by saying I'd make a character that is a girl version of him who would be the villain in my Pedro stories, and he laughed thinking I was just joking LOL

10 Disney hot takes/unpopular opinions (Part 7)
Tumblr media
I'm sure the title is self-explanatory. You know the drill! Check out part 6 here.
Tumblr media
Phoebus is Disney's best main-supporting character--I know I stated this objectively, but obviously "best" is subjective. I always appreciated his kindness and strength, and while he doesn't really grow in viewpoint since he always has a strong moral compass, his allegiance changes, and we love to see it when a good guy stops working for the bad guy! Only wish he got to sing.
Tumblr media
2. Aurora's dress is the best Disney princess gown--I think it's because of the uniqueness of it; the sharp elements instead of rounded aspects, as well as the pink color (which helps her stand out; blue pits her against Tiana, Jasmine, and Cinderella). Plus I love when merchandising gives her a blue AND pink dress.
Tumblr media
3. Eric should've sang in the musical and he and Ariel should've gotten to talk after the battle--I'm glad other adaptations (the live-action remake, the Broadway adaptation, and the anniversary special) have fixed the singing part, but I do feel like it was a missed opportunity to not have Eric sing in the film. It's kind of disappointing actually that it's actually other characters who sing most of the songs rather than the main character (who only gets 1.5 songs) and her love interest. Plus I always wished we got a reconciliation scene between Ariel and Eric rather than a "back to square one" approach they did.
Tumblr media
4. I think Disney could get away with more (censored) violence--Kind of an oxymoron, but what I mean is that "Pocahontas" and "Mulan" got away with violence in a way that was still digestible for a younger audience. Not saying that every Disney film needs a lot of violence, but when violence is warranted, they can do so by getting creative with how it's shown, rather than it being offscreen or skipped over.
Tumblr media
5. Mirabel should be a Disney princess--I know some people see the DP line as kind of elitist and only admitting "a certain type" of heroine, but aside from adding diversity to the line by being the first Latin-American princess/first South American princess/first Disney princess with glasses, she's also a well-written character who's personality and heart makes her join the line without feeling like she's just there for the sake of optics.
Tumblr media
6. "If I Never Knew You" is the greatest Disney love song--I've said it before, but not on a hot take post. It stands out as a song that isn't about the sweetest moments of love, but the darkest elements and consequences of love. Not saying I want the next Disney couple to have a sad ending like Pocahontas and John Smith, but a love song when all seems lost is really unique, and I kinda wonder if this song would've won an Oscar if it had been included in the final cut.
Tumblr media
7. We need more complex stories with complex antagonists--I feel like Disney has started telling more complex storylines with "Frozen," "Zootopia," "Big Hero 6," "Encanto," and "Raya and the Last Dragon," and I want them to continue to. Obviously you want a story with a happy ending and something to please the kids who may want something uplifting, but that doesn't mean you can't have more grey-area movies with the protagonist having to change/grow their perspective, and the antagonist not necessarily being a villain.
Tumblr media
8. "Tangled" is the wrong movie for Disney on Broadway to be working on--While I understand that it's a popular film, there are renaissance films that should've gotten that treatment before, as well as "Moana" and "Encanto" feeling like better ideas, especially in order to capitalize on their viral impact.
Tumblr media
9. "Frozen 2" has the most (emotionally) impactful soundtrack of the Revival Era--I've thought a lot about this, but while Disney always has an emotional song or two in their musicals, "Frozen 2" is an emotional journey from start to end; even the fun songs like "Some Things Never Change," "Lost in the Woods," and "When I'm Older" have a profound meaning to them, a sense of change that Disney should've brought into the 2020s with them. While I found the film narratively clunky, all of the songs (even the ones I wasn't big on) still left me with a feeling of fufillment, like I had just went on an amazing journey of self-discovery. Mature movies like that usually aren't musicals, so I'm glad this was.
Tumblr media
10. The Bronze Age is one of my least-favorite Disney Eras--If you know my channel, you know my opinion on animal-centric films; not a fan, with "Zootopia" being an exception because I loved the plot AND they were somewhat human in the world/setting. Almost all of Disney's films during this era were animal-centric, and none of them were good enough for me to be engaged. And while I find "The Black Cauldron" underrated, I do kinda wish Disney had made it a musical instead.

Evening! I'm a young chinese/indo american and plan on reading your comic soon, but beyond that I've frankly just been desperate for any decent rep in DC/Marvel - are y'all aware of any comics / comic characters / runs that handle an asian character's background well? I feel like I'm slugging through quagmires braving search results. All of them are just talking about racism but I want the good, and process of elimination feels like a bad strategy. Thank you
Hello fellow Chindo! Thank you for planning to read my book (which obviously I recommend for great Indonesian representation, heheh)! :) They're probably pretty mainstream choices, but regardless! I have a couple of recommendations:
Tumblr media
New Super-man: Kong Kenan, written by Gene Luen Yang
This comic run has a bit of a typical start before jumping into some truly refreshing and fun wider worldbuilding! My biggest criticism to Superman legacy characters is that they should expand on his inherently political themes, and they mostly just stay stuck in science fiction silliness. But not Kong Kenan! His world, cast and even powers are steeped in politics and culture, just an absolute treat.
Tumblr media
2. Girl Taking Over: A Lois Lane Story written by Sarah Kuhn with art by Arielle Jovellanos
My all time favorite canon reimagining of Lois as Asian (she's specifically Japanese American in this version)! A perfect marriage of Lois' character as a hard working, career-focused, jaded girlie with the struggles of model minority as an Asian American woman. She stands out on her own here without Superman and has a fantastic cast system that builds her character wonderfully. I especially recommend this graphic novel if you were disappointed with the wasted potential of Asian Lois Lane in MAWS.
Tumblr media
3. Superman Smashes the Klan written by Gene Luen Yang with art by Gurihiru
Need I say more? I will anyway. This is the best Superman story of all time, to the point it will actively ruin your enjoyment of other Superman stories for you. It seems so obvious to pair Superman's inherently immigrant allegory with that of actual immigrant struggles, especially with an Asian American family- who are perceived as the perpetual foreigner- and yet this is the first time that story really commits to that comparison. A fantastic reimagining of the original radio show arc that actually centers the Chinese American family being harassed by the Klan. My perpetual recommendation to anyone looking for their next favorite superhero story.
Tumblr media
4. Shadow of the Batgirl written by Sarah Kuhn with art by Nicole Goux
Okay I haven't read this one yet, but I keep hearing good things about it! And It's written by Sarah Kuhn, who delivered for Girl Taking Over, so I don't doubt she did great here too. I do generally wish Cassandra will get to be written by a Chinese woman specifically since so far she's been written by Japanese writers. No shade to them of course, but I want cultural specifically. Cassandra tends to be in the vaguesian void and that's a disservice to her character.
The way this list is switching between Gene Yang and Sarah Kuhn is telling of the writers I trust haha.
Tumblr media
I've got a heavy DC bias so I can't recommend much of Marvel, but I do remember enjoying Kamala Kahn's Ms. Marvel 2014 series under G. Willow Wilson's writing. Kamala is an endlessly charming character, and I don't think the MCU did her justice tbh!
Those are my reccs that I feel pretty confident recommending! I know there's other prominent Asian characters and writers in DC/Marvel, but they're a hit and miss for me.

If people get upset that you're not posting about FK they need to get a grip. I'm sorry to be so blunt but there it is. If you or anyone isn't feeling it anymore for whatever reason, or if you're still feeling it but just getting excited over something else, that is fine. I know this sounds mean and I like the FK delulu stuff as much as anyone but it's dumb to be upset about it.
Like I think we're all aware you're not gonna stop posting about Khaoting at least. Come on. It's not the end of the world if you for whatever reason don't ship him as much with First anymore. And getting bothered by talking about another ship independent of them is weird. They might be monogamous but you don't have to be 🤣
I ship khaotung so hard with first is the funny thing about this. first's place in khaotung's life is near equivalent to that of his mothers. I've been obsessing over this hug for days, totally unable to forget about it, it is imprinted behind my eyelids.
Tumblr media
LIKE!!!!!
That's not husband wife or a boring romantic dynamic thats just straight up Pocahontas with her weeping willow grandmother like good for them coming in strong with the Disney ride or die dynamics. They are Ariel and Flounder, Mushu and Cricket. There are two men's hands on that boy and he's still trying to climb first!!!! Like damn son I'm sorry that First's ribcage doesn't open up so you can climb inside, I agree that god made a Very Serious Design Flaw when he made First opaque so that Khaotung can't spend all his free time staring at his heart beating.
Does First live in Khaotung's house? How the fuck should I know??? The only thing I know for sure is that if First wanted to be a fish, Khaotung would be the aquarium - does this mean they want to get married????? idkkkkk? I got bigger problems than obsess about who Khaotung will get married to. [for example: who will *I* get married to??? I've had two back to back LTR duds in my 20s so I'm not feeling very hopeful atm]
But I'm interested in everyone's viewpoint. The point is that there's a little bit of RPF for everyone to enjoy here. If you don't enjoy RPF why are you here and if you do but my content is still stressing you out - how is that even possible just scroll down to a different post in the delulu circus tag??
I ask for people to tell me what they're interested in so I do get a lot of opinions on what I post more or less for the entirety of circus posting - good and bad. Sometimes the bad is not that nice but at least it's in alignment with the kind of things I post. And I really don't care about WHAT people think of my clowning. If people hate it I'll stop posting it if they enjoy it I'll keep posting it. But I'm always clowning on my own time regardless.
But the people in my inbox this past week are so angry and I feel so bad for them. I am starting to think there is a contingent of users or one very passionately disapproving user who blames me for Joongkhao's popularity (at least on Tumblr) and like???? idk???? many people told me they like Joongkhao because of me so??? maybe they are like 10% right even????? No one puts me on a pedestal like an angry anon let me tell you.
But most of it's not even about me? Nothing that people have come into my inbox yelling at me for this past week are things I actually say???? Like I wish I knew WHAT was going on with that person that sent me A PARAGRAPH of anger in response to this post. I can't believe anyone can be THIS mad about my antisocial son making a friend 😭😭😭
Everything is fake!! Anguish over fandom is pointless!!!! I do realize that there will be anguish in fandom with or without me. But man I do feel really bad when I've made a joke about Khaotung wishing Joong on his birthday and it just ruins someone's day. It wasn't even that good a joke, if someone is going to ruin their day at least let it be a Grade A circus post 🤧
I operate on a belief that khaotung's gay love for his every friend should be a vehicle for peace and love on planet earth 😔 I think I'll be fine eventually and resume my regular clown-assery. I really just haven't paid any attention to fandom since December and I think I'm just in a little bit of shock over how starkly different everything is.

Hi Ariel, I saw you replied to everyone and I'm writing too, thank you.I changed my name and my whole life and created a new scenario. This is my new life, but I couldn't show it. I took an important exam and I failed it too. I'm very sad. I wouldn't have even had any doubts before. But now I'm having a hard time, I feel like I can't have the life I want, I can't ignore it, I can't stop reacting, 3D is going very bad for me and I know it's not real. But why doesn't this problem end? I'm so tired. What should I do? I've been trying for a long time. I'm almost going crazy.
You attract what you bring to your awareness. If you focus on the bad, you’ll get more of the bad.
The bullshit that’s happening in the 3D isn’t what you want therefore don’t give it any of your attention.
Bring your awareness to what you do want. If you want good luck tell yourself you have good luck regardless of what’s happening in the 3D. If you want success, tell yourself you’re successful.
Anything you don’t like in your 3D simply reject it. Focus on the life you do want. You can do revision and act like those bad things never happened. You can be sad just remember who you are.
Who are you?? You are the God / Creator of your reality. Time doesn’t matter. Bring your awareness to having it right now.

(Probably unpopular opinion for you but idk): I know that Prince Hans does not "deserve" a redemption arc and will probably not get one in Frozen 3 or 4. But I can't help but hope for one anyway. Sorry not sorry.

Anon, I can tell you weren't following my blog after Frozen was released XD
I see Hans as a complex character, not just a greedy villain, so yeah. I really hope to see him getting redeemed!... just hoping Elsa is not the one to redeem him, otherwise I'd flip a table ffs. We barely know anything about him, it'd be great to learn more about the Southern Isles and the Royals there. We only know Hans is the last of 13 kids, and that 2 of his brothers pretended he didn't exist. For. Two. Years. Talk about a messed-up family! While it doesn't excuse his actions, it's no wonder he was desperate to get away and became twisted himself. And Hans getting redemption doesn't mean he has to be friends with everyone or live in Arendelle, it can be Anna getting closure for what happened and then she reaches out to help him and end it on the two saying goodbye with a smile, each going to live their own life. There is a wonderful fanfiction that I recommend: Based on a True Lie which does a very good Hans redemption (in a way) and where Anna is really the main heroine <3
I honestly feel like Hans was done dirty and handled poorly, even as a villain. I wouldn't have minded him being a villain if the movie had done it well, Hans being a twisted villain could have been very good, but honestly? Every time I re-watch Frozen, I think "Nope, still not buying it."
Watch Toy Story 2 and there, you have a very good twisted villain! At first watch, there is little chance you'd suspect Stinky Pete to be a bad guy; but when you rewatch it, you can see the foreshadowings and little hints of his manipulation of both Jessie and Woody (even if I personally believe he did care about Jessie, at some point) to get what he wanted.
Why am I not convinced about Hans being "Evil", before his "reveal"?
One: after the meet-cute scene with Anna
Tumblr media
This looks way too genuine, and he had no reason to fake it, no one was looking! And don't use the "red herring" excuse, it's not good either. They could - no SHOULD - have cut the scene the moment he fell into the water if Hans was meant to be just a greedy bad guy.
Two: there are no real signs (read "red flags") of manipulation in his speech and actions.
They're vague and a stretch at best, like the line "'Cause, like, I've been searchin' my whole life to find my own place" Many Disney protags have used similar lines and were looking for a place where they felt they belonged (Belle, Ariel, Hercules, Quasimodo, Aladdin...). Honestly, it's more that he adapts to the situation (that he has no control over btw).
He's not the one to push Elsa to reveal her powers, the two sisters were arguing and both were at the end of their own rope. No one knew Elsa had powers.
He doesn't manipulate Anna to push her to go after Elsa and give him control of Arendelle; Anna makes the decision on her own, he even tries to stop her or says that he should go with her, but she's the one to ask him to watch over Arendelle while she's on her journey.
The candlestick falling on Elsa was an accident! I don't care what everyone says, given how fast it happened, Hans couldn't have aimed so precisely. Hans glancing up is once again too vague, he might have been checking for a place where he could deviate the arrow without hurting anyone but he had no time. Plus, I don't know for you, but I saw plenty of people glancing up as they think/before they act (and do so too sometimes) for no real reason. Light argument at best.
At most, you can argue he lied to seduce Anna.
And honestly? Revealing his evil plan this way is just so dumb! I get that many villains tend to monologue too much for their own good because they're overconfident and when they believe they've already won, but here? It's stupid and too risky, a good manipulative villain wouldn't have revealed himself at that moment in my opinion. Either you make him a master manipulator, or you just make him a puny opportunist, you can't have both; and either way, he should have acted way differently before the reveal. No wonder so many fans (myself included) had a theory that the Trolls were the ones who messed him up with their magic "Get the fiancé out of the way and the whole thing will be fixed" so their champion (Kristoff) would get the girl.

I saw the new Little Mermaid
Disney really saw Mera eat a flower and said, "That scene alone is what netted Aquaman a billion at the box office, we're putting that in our movie" and you know what, they were right
anyway The Little Mermaid (1989) is my favorite animated Disney film and I'm not going to pretend this is as good as it but it's far and away the best live action remake since Disney decided that the live action remakes were going to be functionally exactly the same as the originals
(It's been years since I've seen live action Cinderella and Jungle Book, I don't remember well enough to say how those compare to this)
Halle Bailey was amazing and sometimes her voice was so close to Jodi Benson's when she spoke that it threw me for a loop
I was really surprised by Melissa McCarthy's performance, she nailed Ursula's vibe and mannerisms. I still think the part should have gone to a drag queen but she rocked it
I guess there will be spoilers below the cut but also it's The Little Mermaid and y'all already know how it goes
was anyone going to tell me that Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Men was Ariel's dad or was I just supposed to see this movie for myself
why can Scuttle breathe and speak underwater
I thought it was really cute that Jodi Benson had a cameo to give Ariel a dinglehopper
this went overlong, the original told the whole story perfectly at like an hour and twenty-two minutes and this added fifty-two minutes to that, how long do you think a child's attention span lasts
That being said while a lot of the added stuff wasn't needed, there wasn't any garbage put in that fundamentally changed what made the original story work (looking at you, Mulan remake) so that was nice
the girl who played Vanessa/Ursula in disguise looked so much like Melissa McCarthy, great job casting department
The new songs are fine, I don't see them becoming classics but they're all right and I feel bad for any song that has to go up against Howard Ashman's originals
The colors in this movie are gorgeous, I could watch Ariel's iridescent scales all day
I thought it was cute that in Eric's expanded back story, they gave him the same Special Interest in collecting that Ariel has
I have seen Eric's actor somewhere before and I have no clue where, I thought he was in Bridgerton but he wasn't and nothing on his imdb looks familiar, this will haunt me
Somehow we had to get rid of "Don't underestimate the importance of BODY LANGUAGE" because that's not a good message and we can't trust the audience to understand they're not supposed to take the villain at face value but the lyrics to Kiss the Girl remain unchanged as far as I could tell?
anyway it was fun, if you've got two hours and fifteen minutes to kill I recommend it

my dnd game is wack y'all / / @wclking-fire. vash & ariel; scattered across the sands au
Tumblr media
"I've already said this once, and you'll only hear it one more time." there would be no doubt embellishments this time around because she hates telling the same EXACT story twice ( same truths, different accessories ).
even so, she rolls her eyes and looks over to her son happily ignoring the two of them, as if they were the least threatening people that could possibly exist, while also shrinking away from seemingly a docile looking woman trying to offer a drink. only to get a glare from momma and the woman backs away from her son, from justin.
Tumblr media
"I'm sure you've already heard of my family and I in rumors, in whispers, across this desert environment, with barely an oasis to be seen from." she chortles at the memory of some of the rumors that have cropped up as a result of her happy go lucky family finding themselves in rather terrible situations. "If you haven't, then you've been quite on the run, but for your sake, I'll go over this ONLY this last time."
she takes a breath and settles into her seat as justin clambers onto her lap. "There is no doubt in my mind that you have heard of the Demon of the East. A vicious being with claws and pointed ears and eyes that glow in the dark, a constant looming storm overhead in multiple cities that the "Demon" shows up in. That would be the second youngest, my sibling. They're easily frightened when they don't have their weapons, or if they don't have their girlfriend around. Even worse if they don't recognize anybody at all."
justin leans against her chest while playing with one of his toys that twists and 'breaks' before putting itself back together, like its made of magic of some kind. "And certainly, you've heard of the doctor who is rumored to be able to heal with burns, to heal with things that make you see the night during the day. Surely, you've heard tales of how he has endless water but no one can prove it. Surely, surely, you must have heard of how he has never failed to cure someone of illness that isn't permanent." she scoffs; "That's the middle brother, heart of gold and the best resting bitch face I've ever seen."
Tumblr media
but she pauses for a moment, gauging his reaction. pausing to let him have that sink in before continuing on. "The ones I'm sure you haven't heard much of, are my two eldest brothers. One apparently is a ghost that wanders a deserted city, trying to breathe life into a place beleaguered by something far older and more powerful than himself. I don't remember the name of the city, but it has some weird stigma to it."
"The other you probably have barely heard anything of, is a man who would fight for justice and harmony in the name of revenge. He's got a bad habit of finding out everything about places he goes and people he talks to dead last, and it tends to kick him in the ass when it happens. I'm sure there was one thing you might have heard, as I've heard it all the way out here: he was the one who has been rising the conglomerate ranks and trying to measure off water supply to those in need. Yeah. That's my idiot brother."
Tumblr media
"Then there's me: the Living Shadow. Rumors have it that I disappear into people's shadows, haunting and hunting them should they ever step out of line or become too much of a problem to the people around them. I've been used as quite a cheesy boogeyman of sorts. I can't help but feel jaded to it all, it's actually quite cute... and my brother in the big city tells me that he's doing well enough, if being occasionally targeted ─ which is nothing new for us."
she clears her throat slightly and looks down at her son, who is reaching for the canteen she always keeps full of water. she easily hands it to him over herself, though she's worn from talking so much, and quirks a brow at the blond man before them both. "So, you got all that down somewhere, blondie? I'm not repeating it again, even if my kid doesn't think you're all that much of a threat to either of us right now."

it  is  a  relief  to  hear  that  at  least  she  understands  that  not  all  humans  are  bad,  even  if  she  can't  convince  her  father  and  sisters  of  the  fact.  that  part  is  a  little  disheartening.  understandable  though  considering  he  can't  convince  his  mother  that  perhaps  her  beliefs  are  inaccurate  as  well.  another  thing  she's  said  stands  out  to  him—  she'd  seen  him  on  his  ship?
❛ i've  tried  to  tell  my  mother  that!  but  she  had  these  superstitions  she  holds  onto. ❜  his  head  shakes  gently  before  he  lets  out  a  quiet  sigh,  ❛ we  do  not  get  into  shipwrecks  because  of  carelessness,  at  least  not  my crew.  i  try  to  do  whatever  i  can  to  avoid  wrecks.  we  lost  cases  of  quinine  in  a  wreck  recently,  which  could  have  been  used  to  treat  malaria  if  need  be— ❜  he  glances  at  ariel  realizing  she  probably  has  no  idea  what  he's  talking  about,  ❛— a  treatment  for  an  illness. . .  doesn't  matter,  it's  at  the  bottom  of  the  sea  now. ❜  his  mothers  voice  echoes  in  his  head.  ❛ it  was  a  storm  that  cause  that  wreck,  not  sheer  recklessness.  and  it's  always  a  loss  for  us  when  we  wreck. ❜  he  should  know,  he  personally  had  lost  so  much  to  a  shipwreck.
that  sick  feeling  overcomes  eric  again,  he  can  feel  himself  grow  pale.  he  was  afraid  that's  what  had  happened.  fear  that  she'd  confirm  what  he'd  thought  was  the  case.  sadness  accompanies  the  sick  feeling.  he'd  witnessed  a  sail  attempt  to  do  the  exact  horrendous  thing  recently,  convinced  he'd  seen  a  mermaid.  eric  himself  took  the  harpoon  from  the  man's  hand—  it  had  turned  out  to  be  a  dolphin,  but  at  least  its  life  had  been  spared.  that  lore,  they  weren't  harmless.  those  stories  were  doing  real  damage.  it  needed  to  stop.
❛ your  father  is  just  trying  to  prevent  the  loss  of  another  loved  one. ❜  eric  speaks  softly.  he  can't  say  he  blames  the  sea  king  for  being  overly  cautious.  but  at  the  same  time,  he  can't  understand  why  barring  them  from  the  surface  is  the  answer.  making  merpeople  more  mysterious  and  hidden  to  the  humans  is  potentially  making  things  worse  for them.  eric  saw  the  reaction  the  guests  at  his  engagement  announcement  had  when  they  saw  ariel's  beautiful  tail,  when  they  realized  she  was  a  sea  creature.  that  fear  and  revulsion  a  product  of  knowing  nothing  about  them  or  their  world.  hearing  only  what  they'd  heard  from  tales  and  hearsay.  ❛ maybe  we  can  start  with  my  mother,  get  her  to  change  her  views. ❜  maybe  it  would  be  easier  to  change  her  mind?  ❛ if  she  can  see  that  you're  nothing  like  what  those  tales  say,  she  may  finally  understand  what  i've  been  trying  to  tell  her. ❜
Tumblr media
“We’re not all. . . I would never. . .” As Eric trails off, Ariel looks back up at him. “Oh, I know you would never do anything like that! I knew that the first time I saw you on the ship that night.” She knows that she still needs to tell him about the shipwreck next. “I know that not all humans are bad. Merpeople aren’t all bad, or all the same, so why should humans be? I’ve tried to tell my sisters & my father that, but they wouldn’t listen.”
She falls silent as he continues to speak. When Eric explains what his mother believes about the world under the sea, & about her father, Ariel’s face falls. Her heart sinks a little in her chest. So that must have been what Eric’s mother told Eric that made him stop looking for her. That they weren’t meant to be together. Will the queen still think that way? Ariel suddenly finds herself worrying that his mother might not accept her.
When Eric squeezes her hand in his, she leans closer against his side. “My father has nothing to do with the land eroding. He’s never wanted anything to do with humans. He doesn’t like whenever humans shipwreck. He & my sisters all think that humans are careless. The wreckage from their ships damages the coral. And it takes hundreds of years for that coral to grow back.”
She’s quiet for a minute. Then she speaks softly. “I want to learn more about your world, too. But I’m not sure about completely changing my father’s mind. I think there might be fear there. I think he’s afraid of how much I’m like my mother. She was interested in the human world too. That’s how she… She was killed by a human. A man with a harpoon.” She gives a little shudder. “And that’s when my father stopped everyone from going to the surface anymore.”

Little observation about the Try Guys scandal especially in the wake of that godawful SNL sketch, but this just feels like that thing of like... belittling things that women and girls like. I can't explain it well, but often when something is more enjoyed by women and girls (like Buzzfeeders and their many subsequent projects), there's this idea that it's stupid, mindless, bad, etc.
So, this Try Guys scandal goes viral and it seems to be mostly women and queer people who care. And largely, the support is behind Ariel and the other Try Guys, and everyone is condemning Ned. But then SNL comes and is like "you people are stupid for caring about this", and like... it feels like that quiet misogyny that I notice so often is aimed fem-centric media. Like, the way they presented the Try Guys was the same way I've seen boybands parodied my entire life. Trivial, frivolous, stupid stuff that nobody in their right mind should love. It brought me back to being a teenage girl and constantly having to defend my interests because everyone was always telling me they were bad and stupid.
Like, I can't figure out why caring that Ned cheated on his wife is stupider than, like... caring that some football player wanted to play for a different team, except that men like sports, so it's considered "serious".
Not that only women and gay men like the Try Guys, but that's probably the larger part of their demographic. Idk, I hope this makes sense. And yes, I know Ned's Yale friend wrote the sketch, which is in itself super shady, but yeah.

All right this has gone far enough.
People have keep telling me hate all the time about age gaps ships. Tell me what is wrong with Legalizing female characters to be with A character man older than them? From what I remember is what we play is our own Game experience through our own life.
I made Selene LEGAL AGE idiots. And all the pokemon girls I draw are LEGAL with their man! Obviously there is nothing wrong with aging up a girl character.
Obviously if a person is going out in the pokemon world they have to be mature somehow to start their journey, just as people leave home at 18.
I baise my art through the game NOT the anime for your info.
Now for my zelda ships....
You're still calling me a pedo shipper? Okay. You have harassed me for Ghirazel,Zelast, Volzel, Yuglida, Zeldon, Zelvali and other zelda ships. I have seen similar ships with about the same age gap and no one says a thing to them. I feel that's being a hypocrite. Yes you know who I'm talking about and you know who you are. I see all the hate you write me on Twitter and you think I don't see it? If you are an artist in training you should keep your mouth to yourselves. You shouldn't talk bad about other artists Especially if you're art is low quality.
Oh you say it because of the Times of age? Like this is a different era type of thing? OK then back in the day younger girls did not have toys or things like we did nowadays and were forced to grow up quickly as most people NOW don't even know how to wipe their own ass, or take care of themselves, cook or clean by 16.
Supposedly this is in an old age so in an old age a girl would be more mature than a girl nowadays.
If you still are stubborn then you can't like little mermaid because it would be considered a pedophile film. This Ariel is 16 years old while Prince Eric is 18.
You can't like sleeping beauty because Princess Aurora is 16 and her Prince is 20 about so. Obviously you can see in the intro scene that he is older while she is a baby.
If this is the case then you can't go to Disneyland and you can't go to see princess stuff is because It is considered "Pedophile." And they made a theme park out of it.
FUCK YOU BITCH!

In chapter 3, I wonder how the Disney princesses would agree in the deal of the ramshackle dorm since there are more members than just yuu and Grimm. I can figure they feel bad for Ace, Deuce, Grimm, and on the others on the deal that they have to help. Also there's also the issue on where they are staying like it is not like everyone will go to savanaclaw unless the princesses split to other dorms but Octavinelle like Alice in Heartslabyul. It will be hilarious to think of this scenario...
Floyd: No fair, why does little mermaid get to be around Sea Lion instead of me around?
Ariel: I am mad on what you guys did to this poor students. All of them don't deserve this fate.
Azul: Then they should have know when reading the fine print.
Obvious Ariel is the main POV but I also figure Tiana as the second since she has to do with Dr. Facilier and deals which makes Azul have this kind of romantic tension. I figure Ariel might recognize her father in the museum and made her questioned herself about the world.
And after overblot battle, Ariel and Tiana will feel bad of Azul about how he used to be when he was young which made them try to help him be a better person.
My first thought is maybe the dorm doesn't get put up as collateral, at least not right away.
The book starts as it originally does. It's final exams, Grim, Ace, and Deuce seem very confident in how they did. Now where it diverges is, maybe Crowley uses his "It's so expensive to take care of the dorm" thing to get Elsa and Tiana to hep him with something minor since theyre the dorm heads, Ariel over hears it all. It's no secret that Ariel is an excellent singer, so not long after that, Jade and Floyd approach her and say she would perfect for a job. Ariel, seeing this as a chance to contribute financially to Ramshackle, goes with them to Octavinelle. Where Azul cuts her a deal: If Ariel agrees to be Mostro Lounges lounge singer, she will be payed very well, but she cannot sing anywhere else. Mostro has exclusive rights to her singing until she graduates. Ariel, not wanting Tiana, Elsa, or anyone else to stress about necessities like food expenses, signs the contract.
Afterwards, The test results come out, we find out about anemone thing, and once again Crowley shows up and wants Tiana to try and fix this, since in his mind, they're both business minded, maybe they can strike a deal. When Crowley brings up the food expenses, Ariel pipes up that that the headmage would not need to worry, and after Crowley asks what she means by that, her only reply is that she got a job to help out, so Crowley can't use their food expenses over them anymore. After Crowley leaves, Tiana looks at her and goes, "Ariel, what sort of job did you take?"
After a thorough scolding from Tiana, and now that Crowley has to go back to the drawing board, That's when all the other girls realize Ariel hasn't been singing anymore and the true gravity of what being the lounge singer entails. Cut to after the whole ordeal after the test results comes in and we see the contracts can't be broken, after Jack and Tiana leave, Ariel is furious at Azul for doing all this, to which Azul reminds her that she doesn't have to like it, because she can't leave anyway. If Ariel quits, her voice in it's entirety is forfeit.
Ariel tearfully tells the others everything. That she just wanted to help, She swore she didn't know about the study guide plan, and how miserable she is now that she's signed over her voice. Everyone agrees that they have to do something not only for Ariel, but for Grim and the others, no matter the cost. Tiana and Elsa as the prefects of Ramshackle, along with Jack and Mulan for backup in case, go to Mostro Lounge to see what can be done.
That's when Azul strikes the one time offer: He will release the students and Ariel from their contracts if they can get the picture at the museum, with Ramshackle dorm as collateral. This is a one time deal, it's now or never, and not knowing what else to do, Tiana and Elsa make the deal, with the caveat that the others get to stay in Ramshackle for the three days, and they will go.
Everyone is obviously upset at this turn of events when they return to the dorm. Not knowing what else to do, Jack offer for Tiana, Ariel, and Elsa to stay at Savannaclaw.
Ariel feels so guilty and used this whole time, she feels like this is all her fault even though she was trying to help, to which Leona says that there's no sense in feeling sorry for herself and all about how she's going to fix it.
When Ariel isn't at work, she goes with Tiana and Jack to the sea, while Elsa stays behind to make sure the others are ok and sorting out where they'll go if the worse comes. They obviously have trouble because of the tweels interference, and pretty much everything plays out in the book more or less. They get Leona to help break the contracts once they figure it out, and Ariel, being an actual mermaid (In this au she's learned she gets her tail back when submerged in water like the tweels can) and has evaded plenty of dangerous creatures back home, is able to sneak into t he museum, snag the photo, and get out. All the while Leona is watching Azul have a breakdown after his contracts get dusted.
Tiana and Ariel get back to Octavinelle in time for the Overblot. They deal with it, they learn Azuls backstory and do feel bad for him, and the book wraps up with them returning the picture to the museum, to which Ariel is very confused at all the stuff about her family in there, but maybe keeps it to herself for a dramatic reveal later. Maybe Ariel continues to sing a Mostro, but as a regular employee, with no one but herself having rights to her voice.

Lucas × Arielle
Lucas is at conference and is definitely not getting homesick.
Warnings: maybe cursing? So much fluff
Word count: 730ish
A/N: somehow my Lucas always ends up fluffy. As always, 18+, minors DNI. Don't steal or copy or whatever. Feedback always appreciated.
Tumblr media
"You take care of our woman. You're the man of the house when I'm gone." Goose bats at his outstretched finger before attacking, bunny kicks to his palm. Lucas smiles, "Well, you're no guard dog, but you'll do. Silly thing."
Tumblr media
Lucas stares at the itinerary on the hotel desk. Meetings and presentations, broken up by meals and few social activities… he sighs heavily. "Thought these things used to be fun." Instead, everything just looks like work. "I'm getting old." His misery is interrupted by a video call lighting up his phone.
Arielle appears on the screen and Lucas feels himself breaking into a full smile. She's laying in their bed, comfortably wrapped in what appears to be her bathrobe. "Hello, my love. Did I catch you at a bad time?"
"No, just looking over the schedule for tomorrow." How're things at home, bug?"
"Without you? Very quiet… boring. Goose has been asleep most of the time. I'm just getting ready for bed."
"You miss me yet?"
"Never."
"I miss you, too." He glances away from his notes to check his notifications. A picture message from her dressed in some new strappy lingerie. "Well, you certainly don't look bored."
"Oh, but I am. Walking around in this with nobody trying to rip it off of me. Going into the kitchen and not being fucked on the counter. Do you have any idea how boring it is without you here to annoy me?"
"You are toeing a dangerous line, lady. Although, if you're up to it, we could have some long distance fun. You can start by taking off that robe."
She slips the fabric off one shoulder before the screen is knocked sideways and he hears a, "Dammit, Goose. Must you?"
Lucas bursts out laughing and the sound draws the cat's attention to the screen. "Hey, buddy. You're the most jealous fuzz bucket I've ever seen. Can't even have phone sex in peace."
The pair laugh over the cat's antics as he desperately tries to figure out why his friend is trapped in the phone.
Even after her laughter, he hears the sadness in her tone. "Wish you were home, Lucas."
"Me too, baby. Only a few more days and I will be."
She's trying not to pout, "You've already done your presentation. What more do they want from you?"
"I love it when you're needy."
"Oh, shut up."
"You should get some sleep, Mrs. Koh."
"That's not my name just yet, Mr. Koh. Are you being impatient?"
"I'm practicing. I like the way it sounds." He smiles when she yawns, "Go to bed, bug. I'll text you in the morning."
Lucas stares at his lock screen, telling himself that he's just checking the time for the fourth time in ten minutes, not at all missing her face on his screen. The picture is from their first vacation together, a selfie they snapped on the plane right before takeoff. Memories of the trip come back to him. The way her eyes lit up at every sculpture and temple, how she would turn to him in amazement, but mostly how she kept a firm hold on his hand no matter what. And even now, when she sees him, her face seems happier than she was on that trip, happy just to be with him and holy fuck, what am I doing here? Suddenly, he's struck with a near primal urge to see her, be in the same room with her, wrap her in his arms and refuse to let her go. It doesn't take much to repack his stuff and contact the airport about an earlier flight. He sends a quick text to his coworker, hey, something came up at home and I have to head back early. See you in a few days!
Lucas quickly decides he's never seen a prettier sight in his life. Arielle is curled up in the center of the bed, face pressed against his pillow while Goose is asleep in her hair. At closer inspection, she's wearing one of his shirts and still has her phone beneath her hand. Lucas drops his bags and begins to undress. The sound startles her awake. "It's just me, babe. Go back to sleep."
Sleepily, she squints at the clock then back at him. "Lucas? What are you doing home? Is everything okay?" Goose manages to half open one eye before drifting off again, purring.
Lucas strips to his underwear and crawls into bed. When his arms are around her, he relaxes, "it is now." He kisses her temple, "everything is perfect now."

Disney Princess Movies: Bigfan's Best and Worst Songs
A note: Best and Worst here are used to mean my personal favorites and least favorites.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Best song: "Heigh-Ho"
Besides "Whistle While You Work," I'm betting this is the only song anyone really remembers from Snow White.
Worst song: "I'm Wishing..."
Let's be real here. Snow White... it's the first one, great. I know a lot of people love it. But look. The sound quality is poor, and Adriana Casoletti's voice is so high and bright that it doesn't pick up well. Watching this movie on VHS, I was completely unable to understand a word Snow White sung. "I'm Wishing" also has this eerie dreamlike quality that's kind of unsettling and not great for setting a romantic tone.
Cinderella
Best Song: "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes"
I know, I know, how could I go with anything other than "Bibbidi-boppidi-boo" for this one? This song though is just so uplifting, and it really shows off Cinderella's most admirable quality: a boundless optimism and the ability to see the best in any situation.
Worst Song: "Work Song (Cinderelly, Cinderelly)"
Yeah, well, I just didn't really need the mice to get their own song.
Sleeping Beauty
Best Song: "Once Upon a Dream"
So, the thing about Sleeping Beauty is that good ol' Aurora's movie really doesn't have a lot of songs in it - they try to count the Gift of Beauty and Grace as a song and the Hail to the Princess Aurora one as a song, but do those REALLY count? Anyway, I bet "Once Upon a Dream" is the only one you remember here.
Worst Song: "Skumps"
This one was in there? Honestly, everybody besides Maleficent, the Three Fairies, and Prince Phillip were forgettable.
The Little Mermaid
Best Song: "Under the Sea"
I'll admit I have a love-hate relationship with The Little Mermaid. I don't really like Ariel. Maybe it's the theater kid in me, but she bailed on her sisters WITHOUT telling them pretty much during a performance. How humiliating do you think it is to open up a giant clam and realize there's nobody there to finish the number? Not to mention the little scamp doesn't immediately bail on Ursula when the contract comes out. Sure Triton's a terribly restrictive dad, but Ariel's just... ugh. ANYWAY, I love "Poor Unfortunate Souls" and "Kiss the Girl," but how can you beat the sheer joy of this giant bombastic number that so creatively rhymes fish names?
Worst Song: "Les Poissons"
Forgettable. Also out of place. Also traumatizing.
Beauty and the Beast
Best Song: "Belle"
I love all the numbers in the original Beauty and the Beast. love them so much. But "Belle" is my absolutely favorite because not only is it a massive and fun group number, it gets across that feeling of many characters yet still pulling off the small-town feel. There's so much going on and its chaotic, but we still understand everything. Who Belle is, who Gaston and LeFou are, and how Belle is an outsider in the village, and how she is a dreamer. Plus, that reprise is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard, and you can't help but feel the emotion when Belle proclaims she wants adventure, and wants more than what society dictates she should, and ultimately just wants to be understood. Chills. Also, I'd like to point out that the melody of "Oh, isn't this amazing..." from "Belle" is played in the instrumental piece "Transformation" which is just magic in musical form.
Worst Song: "Something There"
I love "Something There." This movie really just doesn't have a bad song in it. But of all the songs, even "Human Again," this one is my least favorite. It's cute, Beast gets to sing, and there's some good harmonies.
Special Mention: "Evermore," "How Does a Moment Last Forever," "Days In the Sun"
The songs from the live-action remake were just... a misstep. First off, I hate "Evermore." Hate it. Dan Stevens may sing great, maybe it was his greatest performance, but not only does the song feel like a Josh Groban number (this is meant in a bad way), it completely disrupts the pacing of the movie and it doesn't feel like we're listening to an uncontainable outpouring of emotion, it feels like being stuck. Contrast this to the original - Beast ROARS when Belle leaves the castle. He's so heartbroken that he's lost the one he loves and the potential to end the curse that he briefly reverts back to the bestial thing he was at the beginning of the movie. It's terrifying but beautifully effective at conveying that grief. Way more than a number would be at that moment. "How Does..." is okay, I guess, it's just... it feels like gilding. We don't need elaboration of Belle's past. We already know she's an outsider, and we can relate to that. Who cares if her mother died of the plague or they used to live in Paris? It just... feels off. "Days In the Sun" is just a boring "Human Again." I get that Disney was trying to explain where Beast's mom and Belle's mom went, but honestly, it's just not important.
Aladdin
Best Song: "Friend Like Me"
Come on. Yeah. You know. It's catchy, it's fun, it's open to improvisation, it's the best.
Worst Song: "A Whole New World"
This one is iconic and classic, and yes I sing both parts at the same time just like everybody else. But really the Jasmine and Aladdin romance has always felt weak to me, and the song is... meh.
Pocahontas
Best Song: "Just Around the Riverbend"
This song gives us the most understanding about who Pocahontas is as a person, and honestly is the most nuanced song in the movie. Pocahontas is torn between following the path of least resistance or holding out for something greater. She feels this great sense of freedom and is reluctant to give that up. It's a surprisingly mature idea to convey for a Disney princess.
Worst Song: "Steady As the Beating Drum"
The opening song for Pocahontas is... there, and that's pretty much all I can say for it. The only thing it really does is set up "Just Around the Riverbend"
Mulan
Best Song: "Reflection"
I love all the songs, it's so hard to pick one! "Honor to Us All" is fabulous and I LOVE that round they use before the bridge and finale, "A Girl Worth Fighting For" is silly and fun until that slam of emotion at the end as the song abruptly cuts off, but... "Reflection" is just... basically everyone who's ever dealt with familial expectations understands Mulan's pain. Also basically if you're queer at all, you just feel that so much.
Worst Song: "I'll Make a Man Out of You"
Like Beauty and the Beast, Mulan doesn't really have any bad songs. Each are amazing in their own right. This one is the weak link among all of them for me, even though I love it, just because I love the others better.
The Princess and the Frog
Best Song: "Almost There"
I love this song. We learn so much about Tiana, her work ethic, her determination, the way she takes her father's words to heart, and how she has shut down everything else to pursue her dream. And getting to visually see Tiana's thoughts of her dream is so good for when Facilier tempts her with it down the line. Really, Tiana is an awesome, badass person.
Worst Song: "Down In New Orleans"
I dunno, I guess I just thought I was done hearing Randy Newman sing after Toy Story. But really, this song is kind of a heavy handed "this is what's going on. there's magic, there's other stuff. blah blah blah." Nothing really important. Just... there.
Tangled
Best Song: "When Will My Life Begin"
Tangled holds a special place in my heart because I feel so deeply for Rapunzel, having been in a similar situation of emotional abuse by a parental figure. Every part of that song is something I've felt. I've filled my days with activities just trying to get to the next day, always wondering when my life would finally start. And when I recently rewatched it, the reprise when Rapunzel feels the grass beneath her feet made me cry. I know that feeling. I know that joy of the first taste of freedom after what feels like an eternity of waiting. And it is glorious. Also, btw, "Kingdom Dance," the instrumental piece that plays while Rapunzel and Eugene and Maximus and Pascal explore the castle town is one of my most favorite bits of music.
Worst Song: "I See the Light"
I do love all the songs in Tangled too, but this song is the weakest, again like in Aladdin, because the romance is a little weak. Adorable, yes. Well founded, no. "I See the Light" is beautiful in that it's Rapunzel feeling real, unconditional love for the first time in her memory, and Eugene discovering that he does care for someone other than himself, and it is beautiful, but really it's the weakest song.
Brave
Best Song: "Song of Mor'du"
Okay, Brave suffers from a very big case of Tarzan syndrome. We're not really getting songs sung by the characters, we're getting montages. Music video bits. Boring. The "Song of Mor'du" is actually being sung by the characters and perfectly encapsulates that boisterous feast sense and the anticipation of the hunt.
Worst Song: "Into the Open Air"
I don't know who's singing in the moment, I'm not listening to the lyrics because nobody's singing it, and now I'm bored. At least "Touch the Sky" was catchy.
Frozen
Best Song: "For the First Time In Forever"
Anna is amazing, let me just say that. Now, this song is not only wonderfully catchy, it lets us know Anna's whole deal. She's adorkable, she desperately craves experience and contact. She's been cut off for so long from the outside, from her own sister, that she wants to cram a lifetime of experiences into one night because she knows it's only for one day. At first glance it's exciting and happy, and when you look back it's heartbreakingly sad for her while still showcasing her inner strength and warmth in a bad situation. And combine that with the amazing counterpoint of Anna and Elsa, both singing the same words, but completely in emotional opposition, is just beautiful.
Worst Song: "Reindeers Are Better Than People"
This song is just to showcase Broadway actor Jonathon Groff because they apparently forgot to actually have him sing. It's weird, it's boring, and all we learn is that Kristoff is smelly enough that even the reindeer he's voicing himself points it out.
Moana
Best Song: "Where You Are"
I have a thing for the Disney "I Want" songs. But the thing that gets me about "Where You Are" is that it's this wonderful setup, making us believe that Moana has to choose between these two sides of her, until in "I Am Moana" we learn that there isn't actually a conflict in Moana's soul, that she can be both the daughter of the chief and a voyager on the sea. "Where You Are" shows us the influences on Moana - her father trying to teach her responsibility and to keep her focused on becoming chief and supporting the community, where her grandmother playfully points out that even when part of the community, one is still an individual. Moana is torn and I love that plaintive cry of "what is wrong with me" only to give way to Moana being drawn to the sea, unable to deny this part of herself.
Worst Song: "We Know the Way"
I do enjoy Lin-Manuel Miranda's work, I do. But I don't want to hear him sing in that whiny voice of his unless he's casting himself in the lead role of Hamilton, okay? Otherwise, please no.

Wonderful World.
Tumblr media
In the soft white-gold light of the new day, Casey stirred in her bed. The warmth of the sun's rays from the open curtains were usually a welcomed heat, but not today.
Casey whimpered lightly pulling her pillow over her head in attempt to block out the light. A soft knock came at the door and a moment later it opened an inch.
"Casey? You need to get up for work" Sienna called into the room.
Casey moved the pillow from her head and slowly sat up, her mind was hazy and she rubbed her tired eyes.
"W-what time is it?" she rasped out.
"You got about half hour before we head out..." Sienna told her leaning against the doorframe.
Taking in the sight of her best friend, Sienna noted the usual paleness to her face. She frowned lightly, concern filling her.
"You alright?"
"Mmmh" Casey hummed still half asleep, but she couldn't ignore the raw feeling in her throat.
Sienna nodded, still worried but she left her friend in peace to dress.
Casey climbed carefully out of her bed, and pulled on the outfit she had laid out the night before. Once ready she made her way to the living-room where the others were waiting.
"Ready?" Jackie asked as she finished her coffee.
"Sure" Casey said her voice coming out in a horse whisper, she cleared her throat and tried again but still she sounded the same.
"Are you okay?" Aurora asked as the group made their way to the train station.
Casey nodded as she absentmindedly rubbed at her throat in attempt to ease the pain.
By the time she was an hour into her shift, Casey came to the conclusion that it wasn't just simply waking up that hurt her throat, it was the start of a sore throat.
"Dr Valentine, your lab results" Sarah's voice pulled her from her thoughts.
"Thanks" she croaked as she took the file.
"Sounds like you have a sore throat coming, you should head home" Sarah told her.
"I'll be fine" Casey waved a hand in dismissle but the burning sensation painfully reminded her that she wouldn't be.
Trying to rest her voice as much as she could, Casey attempted to try and talk as little as possible. But when your job involves taking to a lot of patients to solve problems, it was nearly impossible.
"Alight I've had enough of watching you put yourself through this pain" Sienna's voice came from behind Casey just after her lunch break.
"I need to work" Casey rasped her voice barley audible.
"I know, so I've come up with a comparison" Sienna told her grabbing her arm lightly and pulled her friend along.
Casey was too tried and in pain to question her small friend, she allowed herself to be dragged through the hospital.
"Here we are" Sienna announce opening a door, puzzled Casey stepped into the room to find most of her friends inside.
Casey turned to Sienna who followed her inside shutting the door behind her. Her friend looked gleeful.
"Okay so tell her your idea Sienna" Elijah called excitedly making the two doctors turn to the group.
"Well, as you're voice is mostly gone and we have finished our patients, we're going to the pediatric ward dressed as fairytale characters"
"You're going to be Ariel, and you'll have this" Jackie said handing Casey a chalkboard.
Casey looked between the board in her hands to her friends, touched by their kindness. Tears welled in her eyes.
"Come on we better get ready" Aurora said quickly spotting her friend about to cry.
"Here, let me" Rafael offered picking up the bags containing the costumes of the group.
After a disastrous ten minutes of the group laughing and attempting to get dressed in the same room, they finally tumbled out of the on-call room dressed in their costumes.
"If anyone speaks about this" Jackie grumbled fixing her crop top of her Princess Jasmine costume.
"I think we look awsome" Elijah grinned from his seat his cowboy hat of his Woody costume was a little big as he pushed it back to look at her.
"Easy for you to say" Bryce grumbled as he adjusted the green tights of his Peter Pan costume.
Sienna linked her arm though Casey's her eyes shone with barley contained excitement.
"The kids are gonna love this" she grinned.
Casey nodded in agreement, and no sooner had the stepped into the small community room, they were greeted with loud squeals of delight, mixed with excited calling of the characters names.
As the group, minus Casey greeted the children in character, one little girl tugged on Casey's dress. Casey carefully crouched down to her height.
"You're pretty" she said shyly, her thumb in her mouth as she spoke.
Casey smiled warmly at the little girl. She motioned towards the chalkboard that was tied around her neck.
I can't talk, the sea-witch stole my voice.
Two tall figures approached and read the sign for their daughter.
A look of horror passed her small face before she looked delighted.
"I know! A true loves kiss will get it back" she cheered excitedly grabbing Casey's hand.
Glancing at the parents, who looked a little confused but hopeful that Casey would play along. Casey nodded and smiled down at the young girl.
"Come on! Let's go!" The girl cheered.
"Emma, be careful and be good for Princess Ariel" the mother called.
To both her embarrassment and delight Casey found herself being paraded around the hospital by the small child who declared to anyone who met them that Casey was looking for a Prince and needed to be kissed.
Many people smiled at the sight, others chuckled amused. Some doctors were stopped by the pair in attempt to get the kiss.
They found themselves on an all too familiar floor, one that held the diagnostics team's office. Emma dragged Casey in that direction.
"That's him!" Emma squealed delighted. Casey looked down before following her gaze where she found a familiar figure.
Ethan was sat in the glass office, blissfully unaware of the events that were transpiring nearby. Emma bounced on the spot before pulling on Casey's arm to get her to move.
The sound of the glass door to the office sliding open caught the attending's attention. Looking up he took in the sight before him.
Casey was out of her usual formal wear and white coat and now wore a white and blue dress with a black corset. He could just make out a large bow peering over the top of her head. She look rather beautiful.
"He's it" a small voice broke his gaze. Glancing down Ethan caught sight of a young girl practically swinging from Casey's arm.
"Sorry?" Ethan asked confusion sweeping over him.
"You have to kiss her, you gotta break the spell" the young girl said in a rush.
Ethan felt the corners of his mouth rise slightly in amusement, especially as he took note of the light blush now adoring Casey's face.
"I suppose if it's to break the spell"
Ethan stood and carefully stepped around his desk. He only needed to take two steps before he was in front of Casey.
He gently cupped her face, his thumb gently sweeping across her cheek before he ducked slightly and lowered his lips to her soft one's.
The kiss was brief as the adults vaguely remembered they had a young audience as Emma cheered. Pulling away Ethan looked into her soft, tired eyes.
"Hi" she whispered.
"Hi" Ethan breathed back.
"You did it!"
The trance was broken as they turned their attention to the small girl. Ethan crouched down to her height as he studied her for a moment.
"You must also be a princess" he hummed as he gently poke her belly making Emma giggle.
"No silly, I'm just a girl"
"Are you sure? Because I think you're exactly what a princess should be" he smiled.
"I pretend to be a princess, not like Ariel" Emma attempted to whisper to Ethan.
The older doctor chuckled.
"Well, I think after breaking the spell and getting Ariel's voice back- we deserve ice-cream"
"Ice-cream? Yay!" Emma cheered running to the door.
Ethan stood back up and dusted himself off, turning his attention to Casey who was looking at him with such a love filled gaze.
"Sienna text me saying you were ill, I figured something cool would help sooth the soreness until we get you home"
Casey smiled and nodded greatfully, linking her arm through Ethan's the pair followed after the bouncing child.
Perhaps having a sore throat wasn't all that bad, especially when she had such a kind and handsome prince to look after her.
