🐍 Loki has a smaller family when it comes to the Godly-standards, he has Odin as his uncle and Thor as his cousin. While in Pantheons such as the Greek, there were four brothers with one being married and having three kids, Zeus’ blood and non, and there was Kronos and Rhea

🐍 So, when he officially met you, he wasn’t very surprised to hear about you having a sister and brother. In fact, Loki basically begged for you to introduce them to his own family

🐍 It took many different tries on his part to actually get you to consider bringing in your siblings in for a visit, but when you told him you gave in and were bringing the two in for a reunion of the Norse Pantheon

🐍 Looking back at the two behind you, you noticed that Yui smiled as she adjusted the collar around her kimono as Subaru adjusted the bow holding his outfit together, and once they gave you their respective nods, you began to walk ahead and opened the doors to the Norse Pantheon’s estate

🐍 Loki was getting bored floating around and pranking his fellow Deities, it just wasn’t the same without his amazing S/O alongside him

" Loki? Are you around? "

🐍 Opening his eyes and turning upside down from the tree branch, Loki looked around for the beautiful eyes of his S/O, only to be immediately met with the sight of mismatching red and pink eyes

People who ship Merlin/Mordred (18 and 10yrs old when they met), you need to develop the ability to see dynamics between humans outside of a romantic context, because that shit is disgusting. I don’t care if he “waits until he’s 18” or something. If you think this has no relation to real life, you are lying to yourself.

People who ship incest… get real, it’s 2024. This includes half-siblings, step-family, adoptees, etc. because they ARE relatives. Yes, I have seen ppl in this fanbase say it’s ok to ship adoptees because they’re not “real family” — specifically using Thor/Loki as an example (in the replies of a post about Merlin & Mordred having a “brotherly” relationship, no less). Those of you still shipping Arthur/Morgana and Morgana/Morgause… A ship being gay doesn’t magically make it progressive. Abuse is not progressive, it is a result of one person’s sense of entitlement in conflict with another person’s autonomy.

Racism and misogyny — particularly this fandom’s misogynoir towards Gwen. Common sense, except many of you will read this and think it doesn’t apply to you when it does.

If you think that Arthur is incapable of loving Gwen as much as he loves Merlin (despite the opposite being true in canon), if you call Gwen “a beard” or act as if Arthur broke centuries of tradition to marry a servant out of “convenience” or to use her for her womb — why do you want Arthur to objectify this woman so bad?

If you think that Merlin would’ve needed to teach Gwen, Lancelot, or Elyan how to write despite the fact that Gwen and Elyan were co-running a small business with their father for years + the season 1 photoshoots of Gwen writing + s5 Gwen writing onscreen + the fact that Lancelot and Merlin were writing each other for years — we get it, you watched Holes.

Villainizing Gwen and/or Elyan (e.g. the Kingdom Come fan script). Gwen accepts Merlin’s magic with a grace that Arthur doesn’t offer in the same episode, but fans often interpret Arthur’s reaction with good faith and ignore Gwen’s entirely. She and Elyan both suffered the wrongful death of their father when Uther accused him of consorting with a sorcerer and didn’t give him a trial. Elyan saw/experienced firsthand the wrongful persecution of the Druids when he was possessed by the spirit of a Druid child, so fics where he is disproportionately aggressive towards magic while Leon and Arthur are disproportionately calm are especially transparent (e.g. that Arcane Dominion fic on Ao3).

If you think that whole Helios arc (especially with Gwen’s outfit) or all the “Southrons” shit in the show wasn’t racist (or, if you don’t know, please look up what orientalism is and how it affects people irl).

Homophobia - a lot of merthur shippers (and others, but one’s kinda more popular) have a lot of homophobic beliefs. For example, if you think that sub = bottom and dom = top, that is both misogynistic and homophobic. If you think that Merlin or Arthur (or, like, Gwaine) is “weaker” than the other and decide their position as dom/top or sub/bottom based upon that criteria, again you are being misogynistic and homophobic. This goes double for presenting Merlin as a dom/top because of his magic (not in general), when it’s pretty clear in the show that magic peoples are experiencing a genocide because they are stereotyped as dangerous. Hmm, I wonder what groups this logic might apply to in real life who are demonized and hypersexualized to justify their eradication… not gay and trans people, or poc, or other oppressed groups! They could never have anything in common with a hypothetical oppressed group !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Transphobia - fics going on about how “[x gender] could never [perform y reproductive function]” is obviously something you say when you forget or ignore that trans ppl exist. Doesn’t matter if you’re making fun of mpreg or whatever, and no it’s not just merthur fics.

Religious persecution - first of all, if you generalize any persecuted religious group/culture or decide that genocide is justifiable towards some people, you are either a Nazi, a Zionist, or some other white supremacist, and you are not welcome here.

Now, this touches on homophobia, misogyny, and transphobia, too, but because magic is ultimately a stand-in for religious persecution, it goes here:

When you villainize Merlin for keeping his identity a secret in a society where he is, in written law, to be executed for the way he was born, you’re sending a horrific message to people who should never feel guilty for the most bare minimum acts of survival. Fiction is informed by reality, and may support certain societal aspects/ideas in return. Stories are a form of speech, which is cycled through the sociopolitical atmosphere of the storytellers. You are not immune to propaganda, but you are especially susceptible if you refuse to acknowledge that even allegories exist.

I Rewatched Loki for Reasons

I rewatched the entirety of the Loki show, because I have a week of an unpaid break for Thanksgiving. I did this for a reason, and not just because I have no life (though that’s part of it). You will discover this (rather unhinged) reason tomorrow. Today, we’re gonna talk about things I missed, because I don’t know how to write a retrospective and Google didn’t help me, so this is the best I can do. So enjoy! (Spoilers for all of Loki)

Season 1, Episode 1

The very first time we see Mobius he stops a hunter from pruning a child. And then he’s kind to the child. We see his personality and we also see something that becomes a recurring theme in the series: he has a soft spot for children.

The “scared little boy shivering in the cold” line (which is actually the option of Mobius’s motivation Loki takes as the truth, and also the one I accept).

His sons (I have a problem with how he acts at work about them, but every other time he talks about them or interacts with them he does show he cares about them)

The boy at the Black Sea he couldn’t prune 

The fact that a Loki specialist is noticeably absent from an arrest of a Loki when his partner leads the charge, so he should have been there (Sylvie’s arrest)

Still annoyed Loki didn’t correct Mobius in the finale when Mobius credited Renslayer for getting Loki off. He tells Mobius in 2x05 that Mobius saved his life. I think even though it’s the end, even though Mobius isn’t gonna remember this interaction, it would’ve been important to Loki that he knows that he did that, not Renslayer. Loki remembers everything, Loki remembers how that went down, he knows it was Mobius and has already told Mobius so once. He would do it again. 

I think this changes in episode 2, but Mobius never uses pronouns for Sylvie. Other hunters and Loki assume he/him, but Mobius only refers to Sylvie as a Loki variant.

Season 1, Episode 2

Damn, okay, keep showing off that eidetic memory, Loki.

C’mon Mobius, why did you have to immediately start assuming male pronouns for Sylvie like everyone else? I liked that you didn’t do that in the last episode.

Loki talks about getting his magic back this episode, and then uses it twice: to dry himself and to summon something to use as a weapon: Weak.

Season 1, Episode 3

Loki and Sylvie have got such great sibling rivalry energy. I love every time they interact when I’m not scared they’re gonna kiss.

I maintain that the expression Loki makes and his noncommittal grunt in answer to Sylvie’s “real” implies that there was something, however brief, that felt real to him or that he wanted to be real. Given we never see any relationships in the movies, and that Where Mischief Lies is supposed to be a prequel to the MCU, I still think he thinks of Theo here (and maybe even Amora).

Why did Loki get drunk on the train? Sylvie makes him talk about his mom, whom he hasn’t seen in over a year. He remembers Mobius telling him that he causes her death, and that he can never see her again anyway. He was reminded of Theo, so he’s also got that centuries-old guilt rattling around in his brain again, and he’s starting to think he might be falling for himself which is insane for so many reasons. And he’s just got done being tortured for a year, so he’s not exactly in the best headspace to work through any emotions in a healthy manner.

Season 1, Episode 4

The hair flips are way more extensive than I remember them.

Season 1, Episode 5

Wait, so Renslayer doesn’t remember He Who Remains, she didn’t know the Timekeepers were fake, she doesn’t know she’s a variant, but she knows about the void? Did Mobius know about the void? So even though pruning hurt, he knew he wasn’t being killed?

Thunder rumbles in the void, and Loki looks up again. He’s still looking for Thor.

Kid Loki: “Whenever one of us dares try to fix themselves they’re sent here to die.” You didn’t kill Thor. Not a fucking chance. I was right!!

They literally said Loki knows enchantment magic when they enchant Alioth. “Because we’re the same,” Sylvie says. So why the fuck does Loki never have a chance to do it himself in season 2?

Season 1, Episode 6

Mobius was pruned before they found out the Timekeepers were fake (and I’m watching this episode about 18 hours after the last and I don’t have an eidetic memory like Loki, so forgive me if I’ve forgotten something), and we don’t see Mobius and Sylvie talk about that in the car, nor do Sylvie and Loki fill him in on that after so Mobius and Sylvie must have talked off screen. What else did they talk about???

The interaction between Renslayer and Mobius in this episode carries such a different weight knowing the mission that eventually took both of them off the beat cop path and more or less out of the field.

So no one told me to stop talking about biblical imagery, but for some reason I’m trying to resist. But sorry I can’t help myself, even though this was probably pointed out by countless analyzers when it came out two years ago. He Who Remains keeps tongue in cheek referring to himself as the devil, and then he first shows up eating a fucking apple, which has been primarily accepted as the Forbidden Fruit (it isn’t really. In the Bible it isn’t specified which fruit it is).

So Sylvie was right, in a way. He Who Remains is lying here. He knows this isn’t the end when she kills him, though he never actually plans for Timely to replace him like we speculated. Timely was just meant to be the tool to get Loki back to this moment, to (by He Who Remains’s hope) kill Sylvie and save him, so he can survive to control the timeline another day. He also manages to predict how the series ends, by proposing that Loki (and Sylvie) take over for him. He certainly doesn’t intend for Loki to go about it the way that he does, I don’t think, but he’s essentially not wrong. Loki does take over custodianship of the timeline(s) after He Who Remains.

At this point, I’m with Sylvie, I think the “threshold” is bullshit. I think what people figured out about it coinciding with WandaVision (and I don’t know if Marvel commented on that since) is legit, but I think he uses it as an excuse. He knows Sylvie is gonna try to kill him and Loki is gonna try to stop her and Sylvie is gonna use the TemPad to send him away. He places the TemPad in the perfect location for her to use, under the guise of doing it to symbolize offering them the mantle. But it’s a ruse. It’s where Sylvie can reach it to send Loki away. I think when she says he’s lying she’s also referring to him doing this to hold off his variants and another multiversal war, and in that respect I think she’s wrong. I mean, we’ve essentially gotten proof that she’s wrong. But he does know what’s happening.

And that’s the image and Mobius’s parting words they left us with for 2 fucking years.

Season 2, Episode 1

I still don’t understand why it never gets explained how OB remembers meeting Loki in the past but Mobius, Casey, and Verity (I will never let this Easter egg about B-15’s backstory go) don’t.

I’m coming off of season 1 (obviously) and before that, two watches of episode 6. I forgot how fucking painful the slipping is for him in this episode. Loki screams in agony every fucking time. Jesus.

Like, I know I’m a fool. But Mobius already thinks he’s into Sylvie, so he wouldn’t be that shocked to hear they kissed. So why does Loki just skip over that detail? Could it be that even in his frantic sense of panic, Loki knows that if he mentions a kiss it’ll completely derail Mobius and he’ll never let it go?

The end of this episode, with Loki almost being separated and Mobius being able to do nothing about it is such painful foreshadowing UGH.

Season 2, Episode 2

Why does Loki always insist on popping his collar? Mobius didn’t teach him that. Why does he think that’s cool/obnoxious? Did Mobius make an annoyed comment offscreen in season 1 and now he just does it to annoy him on purpose?

I love this version of the show theme, slower and deeper.

Season 2, Episode 4

I want more clever teamwork with magic from Sylvie and Loki like when they jump Brad. Every time I watch it it makes me giddy. 

In episode 6, when Loki tells Timely what to do, he does all of OB’s gestures exactly the same. Can someone please just state outright that my boi has an eidetic memory already? 

Season 2, Episode 5

Loki steps into the door of Piranha Powersports (and he’s already seen Mobius/Don through the window, so he knows he’s here), takes one look at Mobius/Don, hears two words in his voice, and even though the camera is across the room, you can see the actual sigh of relief he lets out. Mobius is here, he’s finally back with Mobius, Mobius is okay, everything is all right now. 

OB wants to quit teaching and write full time. The! Dream! (I mean, I haven’t had an idea for original characters since I was in college and I don’t have the patience to write anything longer than 3k words most of the time, but still. Fucking ideal)

Me: I love how Loki is always so calm and patient with OB.

Meanwhile, Loki: *strongly considers zapping OB back after they do it to him to try to jumpstart the time slipping*

Also OB, Loki is used to getting electrocuted. I bet that barely hurt, like how getting shanked is just a Tuesday afternoon for Thor at this point.

Did I start crying when he said “I can rewrite the story,” even though I’ve seen this episode 3 times now? Maybe.

Season 2, Episode 6

No! Why the fuck is the next episode screen the shot of Mobius and Sylvie looking through the door in horror as Loki steps out towards the Loom?! That’s not fucking fair! It’s fucking upsetting is what it is.

Has anyone stopped to wonder why this launcher even exists at the end of the gangway? Or why there’s a gangway out to the loom to begin with? I’m not even talking about the fact that the loom was always meant to explode if it got overloaded and reset the TVA. I mean even before they learned that, there was never supposed to be more than one timeline passing through the loom anyway. The branches were always meant to be pruned well before it got to this point. 

Why yes, “Ascension” did make me cry again. I blame Hiddleston for introducing me to redemptive arcs in classical pieces. Because this track has it and that’s the moment I start sobbing.

Anyways I read that you're willing to write for God of War games so I wanted to start this with an ask:

In the game we saw Heimdall's personality and his treatment towards his brother (Thor) and I believe he doesn't like his other siblings because of the fear of being replaced; He wants to be the one and only prized son for Odin (They all have daddy issues in this game). But let's imagine that his mother Blódughadda had another child with Odin how do you think he will react having a sibling from the same blood (same mother and father)? Do you think he would treat them a bit kindly or do you think he would still be the same Heimdall as we seen in the game?

Me and my familial drama loving heart is back again!

I feel like Heimdall would be very possessive towards his sibling, whether their older or younger than him. I think he would still treat them pretty shitty, especially if they’re younger than him but Odin forbid if anyone else were to treat his sibling negatively. It would very much be that thing of ‘I’m the the only one allowed to treat my sibling badly because their my sibling’. Heimdall would not stand for anyone else to do so. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to treat them just a tad bit better when it’s just him and his sibling alone. Don’t get me wrong he’s still a dick but he’s just a little less dick-ish in these moments.

He would also want to be idolized by his sibling, especially if they were younger. He would want them to look up to him and see him as powerful and irreplaceable. I think he would especially lose his mind if his sibling were to look up to anyone else (other than Odin). He’d see that as a form of replacing him or even just abandoning him altogether. It would especially hit harder since they share the same blood. He’d feel even more betrayed.

I could see Heimdall looking up to an older sibling, particularly if they were in Odin’s good graces. He’d thrive off of whatever praise and validation they gave him, no matter how small. Even if he were to have replaced them or even become more powerful and useful to Odin than they were, Heimdall would still crave for their praise and overall approval.

ahh, i’m so glad to hear my five-thousand-page rant made sense and resonated with you! i also feel bad for those who overlook rocket. they truly don’t know what they’re missing.

so my thoughts on loki (below) are ALL over the place. i guess i’ll rant a little about the mcu and then talk about how i view loki in terms of character complexity, and then rant a lil more before i get really sappy. ready? ready.

i’m gonna go ahead and double-down on what i said about the mcu as a whole, and how much we need stories told by writers who love the characters they’re writing for. i think loki in the movies is a good example of a character who had, like, signposts of complexity and development with no actual exploration. we would see his behavior shift at critical moments, and we could interpret change and growth, but we never got to spend enough time with him to really see his thoughts and feelings and motivations. fanfic writers have done more to establish loki as a character with depth than the movies ever did. (hire them, disney!)

to be fair, those were thor’s movies, i suppose. but the dynamic of the movies really relied on this sibling relationship, while only really exploring one sibling’s perspective. like, how do you base a whole section of a franchise on two characters, but treat one as a person and the other as a prop?

then we move into the show.

honestly, i fuckin loved the show. i know you described it as loki getting to speedrun his redemption arc in a youtube video (a description which made me giggle btw), but i personally never thought of it that way. i never thought of loki as really learning anything from that montage of his other self’s life — except, perhaps, that being a better person and having a real relationship with his brother was possible. i always thought of that scene as just a slap in the face to get him to start paying attention.

what unfolds over the following two seasons is, imo, where all his growth happens. still begrudging at first — still eager to double-cross the people holding him captive (no shade; they didn’t deserve his loyalty). ready to use his variant to accomplish his goals. we get to see him start to develop empathy by literally reflecting on himself (hi sophie), and we get to watch that empathy spread — slowly, but surely. (so slowly, by the way. that sequence at the end where he spends a million years watching his friends unravel again and again and again and again and again and again and again? like, the audience may have gotten to speedrun that — but there’s no reason to think he did). by the time loki does what he thinks is the right thing — “for all of us” — it’s incredibly believable to me. whereas in the movies, it often felt like a cointoss — tails i save an orphan and heads, i act like a little shit — this decision to preserve self-determination seems deliberate and conscious and effortful. and he now considers himself part of the universe instead of superior to or separate from it. for all of us.

so. what do i think about the complexity of loki’s character? i think he is very complex and developed, and that his character growth is shared just as masterfully as rocket’s, but — i think this is exclusively because of the tv show.

and i think, again, that this is because the writers of loki loved him. like gunn did with rocket, they held the character of loki very tenderly, found all the places that made him mean, and asked, but why? and what does healing look like for you? and how do we make that happen?

and you know, even though rocket and loki are very different, and their stories “end” in very distinct ways, i think it’s fascinating that so many of the stories we find that have been told with love also include love as a central tenet. i think it’s just so beautiful that when we recognize a character as fundamentally good but deeply wounded, we so often want to reshape their universes to be exactly what they need to make them feel whole and seen and unbroken. we want to give them found families and community and connection, because having those things is always better than not, even if that means you have to be trapped in a tree for the rest of eternity.

i dunno, i just think people overall are really loving, and at their core, they want to put more love in the world. and i think loki (the show) and guardians (the movies) are perfect examples of people actually doing that.

blah blah blah, hire writers who love the characters.

Okay imma answer this one as a chunk because they all link together really well! I’m a firm believer in nurture over nature, but that includes the society you grew up in. So Rain learnt a LOT from her friends. But still, before going to Auradon, she has no problems manipulating and using people, she got that from Gothel.

So! at the end of D1, Rain is skeptical about Gothel (and so is everyone else lol), and has spent the weekend with the a Fitzherberts cos Ruby is her roommate, and that family is like 👀. SO she goes to the isle and confronts gothel and there’s a screaming match. Rain returns to o her dorm and Ruby us in bed and she just gets in next to her and SOBS.

Rain is avoiding it all for a month lol, and Ruby is still her roommate, and Ethan is still running photography club, and Ben is trying to get her to see her parents. She’s confused and upset, but also comforted when she meets them again.

'Gold' (or at least 'golden') - found this in the 5-times fic where one of the times is Loki/Sif, because the motivation for that Loki/Sif is (shockingly!) sibling rivalry:

Thor has been a little too friendly with Sif of late, and Loki reckons that his brother is biding his time, waiting to make a move when it seems likely to be accepted. Even golden Thor fears rejection and does his best to avoid it.

I cheated more to get 'Sign' - 'assigned' is close enough, right? It's in a sylki porn thing that may never be finished, the filename of which is 'straightforward':

One of the things he likes about Sylvie is that she’s refreshingly straightforward. It’s not that she doesn’t lie on occasion – they’re both good enough fits to their assigned role in the multiverse that they lie easily and well whenever they need to or want to. But she (unlike him) doesn’t enjoy deception – not for its own sake or even for the thrill of having misled someone successfully.

I did however manage to find the actual word itself for 'Face'! A couple of times, even! Here it is in the upcoming chapter of The AU, which I have to finish eventually or I'll feel guilty and also annoyed at myself. This features one of the rare occasions on which I let the kid(s) actually speak:

no i just said 'biological child' in a way because I feel Frigga felt to care more about Loki because somewhere in her heart she always felt that if she looks after Loki more he'd not feel like an outsider as if she felt the need to do it (the compulsion was not there with Thor) like she herself says that they didn't tell him the truth because he'd have felt different. In a way she did neglect her other child. As a mother she had to be there for both of them equally regardless of how Odin behaves. I never meant that she should treat her children differently because one is adopted and other one is biological but in truth she did.

Ah no I gotchu, I just couldn’t tell by the way you wrote it. But yeah def true. I see this a lot in fics and it always bothers me, but the reasoning Frigga gives Thor is that “Loki doesn’t have as many friends as you/you’re more loved by the realm, so that means I have to give him more attention than I give you”. And the narrative always frames frigga like she’s in the right for doing that. As if the “love of a realm” makes up for the fact that a parent doesn’t like you as much as they like your sibling.

Whether or not it’s canon that Frigga prefers Loki, it feels like fanon agrees and outright applauds her for that, even tho that same fanon will call Odin abusive for doing the same thing to Thor. They’re the same thing, only in one case, it’s Loki that’s preferred and apparently that makes it fine.

this is so well said!! the “ragnarok felt a bit like we were being punished for wanting to enjoy the “wrong” character” part is genuinely so true. i’ve always felt like that. because that’s exactly what taika wanted to do with the movie. he knew people liked loki and that he became a fan favorite, but instead he wanted the focus to be on thor. which there is nothing wrong with, i actually really like thor a lot and i think he deserves more appreciation.

but why do you have to put loki down so much, to allow thor to shine? the way they went about it was just so, so horrible. as tom hiddleston put it… “there is no loki without thor, there is no thor without loki.” they both deserve to shine together!! like those scenes in the ship from the dark world where they’re mocking each other in a sibling to sibling manner. it wasn’t degrading either of their characters, and it genuinely was funny. they still had their moments where they shined together, even if they had their issues.

we weren’t laughing at them, we were laughing with them. taika and his shitty sense of humor… he got that confused. i actually became a fan of the mcu/loki after ragnarok had came out, but… i kind of still can’t believe ragnarok is a real movie, and that it’s supposed to be a thor movie. it’s so lackluster and does not even take itself seriously, when it so desperately NEEDS TO!! and don’t even get me started on how they killed off the warrior’s three…

that avengers comparison is so good too. actually, the whole point of loki’s characterization in the dark world was to sort of see him at his worst, at his lowest. directly after we saw him at his most villainous, and most powerful in avengers. but somehow… he got treated worse in ragnarok (writing wise). at his lowest, he was still written very well. you can “humble” a character in more ways than just making the audience laugh at them. it can be done in a serious manner! break them down, make them spiral, take away what made them so powerful, etc..

we know loki has done bad things. we’ve seen him get punished for doing these things. yet, none of those punishments involved the audience laughing at him. they didn’t involve making a mockery out of him, or his motives. it was handled seriously, and people liked it. if anything… it’s the one thing i see mcu casuals say they did like about tdw.

i actually don’t mind if people like ragnarok. it’s just… i hate when people act like you have to love it. we have genuine criticisms of it outside of “woobifying” loki. God, i hate that point!! you’re so spot on with that. we want his actions talked about in a serious manner. not like how it was barely done in the series when they needed a punchline, or how it was done in the entirety of ragnarok.

He found it amusing how you were trying to be quiet as the librarian had shushed you a couple of times already, but what really prompted hi, to approach you was the fact that the book you were cursing at was a Greek mythology one.

The answer he received from you was one he was not expecting

When you saw his confusion, you held your hand out to greet him.

“Thor, child of Odin. And you are?”

”Uh, Jason…son of Bruce?”

He met you as Red Hood a few weeks later when Bizarro had a run in with a large green good friend of yours

“Ah! Jason! Son of Bruce.”

”I have no idea who that is.” He lied, but you could see straight through him.

You were actually able to recognize him due to some of his left arm getting exposed from having his suit torn somehow during the fight. He had a scar there that you had noticed during your first meeting. It was shaped similarly to a lightning bolt, which caught your interest.

You grew close and you both became very protective of the other

You always defend him against his family members, especially Bruce (who won’t admit it but sometimes he finds you scary)

You get along with the Outlaws very well too. You sometimes even join them on missions.

You love it when he teaches you something about plays, poetry and novels. You think it’s really cute that such a dangerous man can be so cute and romantic.

He’s definitely helped you save the world a couple of times.

He met you during his Robin days

You were a friend of Kon’s, and he called in a favour when his team was failing miserably on a mission.

They were being attacked by some angry aliens who happened to be using some of their tech to mind control parts of the planet

Bart had gotten one of his legs broken pretty badly so he was out for a while, Cassie was knocked out, and Tim and Kon were barley winning their fights.

Suddenly some thunder sounded in the sky and everyone was blinded by a bright light (your thunder bolts hehehe) and the most beautiful person Tim has ever seen appeared out of nowhere from the sky and beat the function out of the remaining enemy

He’s a bat, and is very much like Bruce when it comes to being suspicious of people so he wasn’t so friendly to you in the beginning

Your first impression of Tim was that he gave zero fucks about anything. He’s pretty, but definitely doesn’t care about shit (or acts like he doesn’t)

You guys saw each other more when you helped the Titans, Justice League and even Batman out with a few missions

And also whenever Kon would invite you both out to the same places to hang out. You guys got very close over the years.

Then you guys began hanging out by yourselves in and out of uniform

You saw people while you were each other’s close friends, but you just always knew that you loved each other.

Then he became Red Robin and fell into a dark hole after Bruce’s ‘death’ and became very standoffish with you

You spent more time in space, where you made more enemies with dragons and men made of fire who like putting you in cages (Ragnarok reference hehe) and your family issues got a lot worse too

All the times you spent away from Tim (a few weeks) made you both realise that you’re in love with each other. So you returned home through Bifrost, and turned up at his nest one night when it was raining and confessed your love for him. (You were still covered in blood as you literally just came back from a fight)

You guys have always been inseparable together, but in a romantic relationship? UNSTOPPABLE.

THOUGHTS ON THE SONIC MOVIE

AIGHT had these notes for a bit about the movie cuz it’s a cinematic master piece and gave me everything we wanted

Where do I even start, bro I love how they just embrace the fact sonics a silly little kid who kinda revels in the fact he’s got a family to be silly with now

That bit where he’s pretending to be airport security didn’t have to be so fucking cute but now it lives rent free in my head

Thark pointed out how smart it was for sonic to be calling peeps via FaceTime since he’s got a big ass head and his ears are on top of them (I’m so glad they don’t do the phone to the side of the head even when the characters ears aren’t there, just a lil thing I don’t like)

I bet that bit where sonic was like “your meant to be my friend, stop trying to be my dad” Tom has to repress every fatherly urge to not cry at hearing that

I’m still reveling in the fact sonic has homies/brothers now, it was so sweet when all Tom was thinking about during volleyball was for his kid to have wingmen cuz Tom and Maddie are providing more parental roles than siblings/friend roles

Eggman and Stone are just fucking perfect this movie, I really love what they do with Stone like he looks like a straight man but he’s just really good at hiding how unhinged he is

Eggman is just a rabid animal this movie, Jim just transcends this role

I really wonder what they’re gonna do with shadows character, it’s clear he’s gonna have some of the same backstory since he’s been in stasis for 50 years, I just hope they don’t make his personality close to knuckles cuz he’s defo gonna be an antagonist for the third movie

Walking around Berk for the first time in months, you realize one thing, sure as the very earth beneath your feet: this is good, all of it. There’s nothing like it, and even as a goddess who’s been around long enough to watch countless regimes fall only to build themselves back again, you have yet to experience something quite like this, the mixture of home and love and pure, utter happiness.

That’s what this place means for you, isn’t it? You’re not sure exactly when Berk outgrew its old place in your mind, stopped being a collection of raggedy hillocks and jagged cliffs, but it has been more for a while now. It means that you get to see one person in particular, and Hiccup has never seemed so happy to see you, or you him.

You’ve never had a chance to envy the mortals before. Without the blessing of immortality, how would they grow into half the person they were meant to be? They’re certain of their deaths, so they fling themselves into relentless growth, falling and skinning their knees as they race towards the end. They built palaces in the blink of a god’s eyes, and tore them down just as fast.

Here, walking up the twisting heights of Berk until you can look back down on the houses and streets sprawling beneath you, you can practically sense aeons of history all crumbling beneath your feet. This is a nation of people who fought their way to the brink of death, who built homes for generations of children they’d never get to name. It will span on and on until even the hardiest survivors fall, and you will see it all happen.

The one person who won’t see it is the one who’s just caught up to your side. Hiccup stands beside you, looking down over his home with a contented happiness you can’t quite seem to match. His smile is laced with memories you’ll never have, but you don’t envy him for it, just hope that you’ll be a part of his later thoughts. Maybe, years from now, he’ll stand in this same spot and remember when you were there beside him, long after you’ve gone again. The thought both warms your heart and twists it at the same time.

Hiccup glances from you to Thor, who’s talking excitedly with a half dozen villagers up ahead. “You know, I’m used to siblings being nothing alike, but I think I’ve met a new match with you and your brother.”

You arch a brow, although you don’t think you could be truly mad at Hiccup if you tried. “What does that mean?”

He shrugs. “Nothing much. You always seem like you’re thinking, trying to figure something out. Thor leaps before he looks.”

You chuckle. “That’s an apt way of putting it. He’s always been a little more reckless of the two of us.”

Hiccup hums in agreement. “Still, he’s not the one who showed up to change all of our lives in one of the most dramatic ways possible. I think you gave a fear of the seas to half the people here.”

You smirk. “Maybe that’s for the best.”

He gives you a look. It’s funny to see the change in him as time passes- at first, he was afraid to say the wrong word or pay the wrong compliment lest he offend you and risk incurring the wrath of Odin’s daughter, but now he jokes with you as if you’ve always been friends. Some part of you wishes it could have been that way, that you could have grown up with the mortals, burned your heels running on the hot sands just the same as the rest of them.

You never got that choice, though, so you are content to be just you now. Just you, a goddess, who holds half the world’s treasures in sunken ships beneath her seas yet would trade it all for the smile of the boy standing next to her.

You’d like to tell Hiccup as much, yet fear scaring him off, so you’re almost glad when Thor nods at you across the clearing.

“How about a fight, sister? I feel like a show today.”

You laugh. “I didn’t realize you were in the habit of losing in front of a crowd.”

Thor’s smile drops. “You jest.”

You’re not sure which sensation you enjoy more- teasing your brother, or the shocked grin on Hiccup’s face when you challenge someone who’s basically the patron god of every Viking ever.

“I would never jest about such an easy fight.”

Thor’s glare holds for a few moments longer before he laughs, and the entirety of the sky laughs with him, thunder rolling in beat to his guffaws. “Ah, I’ve missed this. You fellows of Berk don’t happen to have an arena handy, do you?”

Hiccup gestures vaguely at the town behind you. “Yes, but it was mainly meant for dragon fights. I don’t know how well it would hold up with two gods trying to level it.”

You tilt your head to the side, considering it. “Well, we’d best have a place meant for the gods, right?”

You turn towards the sea, and you focus on it, hearing the crash of every wave at once. You can sense every current just as easily as you can sense the rub of grass against your ankles, feel seawater washing against timbers like your fingers wrapped around a spear. It is yours, all of it, and you have never been more in control.

Without warning, you tap into your power. You know without looking that your eyes glow a terrible blue, brighter than the sun glancing off waves and deeper than the furthest depths of the seas. You can see the sudden shade reflected in Hiccup’s eyes; everyone else has backed away, but he stays. In fact, he shifts closer to you, as if fascinated by what you have to offer.

You spread your arms, and the world follows suit. The waves ripple away from the shores, retreating like a scared child, then rush forward all at once. A massive tidal wave slams against the cliffs, but just before it can destroy the entire island, you force it upwards, and the water coalesces into one smooth sheet, several feet tall and strong enough to support thousands of clamoring footsteps. It is shaped just like an arena, this one sufficiently sturdy for the fight between you and Thor.

Thor nods slowly, trying not to give off any sign that he’s impressed. “That should do nicely. Out of curiosity, how do I know that you won’t just wait for me to step onto it and let the water fall to pieces beneath my feet?”

You grin. “You don’t.”

Humor dances behind Hiccup’s eyes as he nods at you. “I’d wish you good luck, but I’m fairly sure you don’t need it.”

You never feel fear before a fight, yet the butterflies currently swarming your stomach demand to let themselves known at his words. “Even if I’m to fight my father’s finest soldier?”

Hiccup walks with you, extending his hand to help you step onto the platform of water you just created. “I’d argue that title goes to you. I look forward to seeing your victory.”

With a sentiment like that, you can’t lose. Thor waves appreciably to his assembled cohorts of supporters, and joins you in the arena you created. He raises his hammer to the sky, and lightning connects with it, skittering over the ground in torrents. The air hums with electricity, enough that a single touch to the bolts could kill any mortal. It’s time to begin.

Thor attacks first; he always does. No matter how many millennia he’s had to practice fighting, Thor has never been able to hold himself back. It’s a weakness you’re used to by now, and you use it to your advantage, easily ducking around his lunge and sweeping his legs out from under him in a practice move. You extend your arm to the side, conjuring up two blades out of pure water, and attack him in kind.

Thor just manages to parry your blow with his hammer, then shoves you backward with a bolt of lightning that leaves you stunned for a moment. He attacks in your brief moment of distraction, slamming the hammer towards your exposed forearm. You pull back just in time, slashing at his chest.

Thor’s eyes flash a pure, bone-chilling white, and seconds later a bolt of lightning powerful enough to destroy an entire city comes down on top of you. You raise your blades together to block the blow, and although you’re not injured, you’re thrown backwards by the force of the blast. You manage to catch yourself in a controlled duck, and come up as Thor charges towards you yet again.

This time, you’re ready for him, and feint at his chest. Thor reacts to it, leaving his legs exposed, and you slash at him, drawing first blood. He grunts in anger, and his hit lands. Enraged, you summon up another wave of water, one that knocks him off his feet and shoves him to the ground. Thor can still channel lightning, and he does so with ease. The resulting sparks cloud your vision until all you can see is white and blue, your powers against his. They say not to mix electricity with water, but which one hurts more, the lightning or the waves? You intend on finding out tonight.

You and Thor exchange blows, getting closer and closer to a final strike. No matter how hard either of you try, though, you’re both equally matched. Eventually, Thor laughs, and extends a hand to you.

“Alright, Y/N. I’d say that was a pretty good round. Would you accept a draw?”

You grin back at him, shaking his hand with a little more fervor than necessary just so you can hear the crack of his finger bones. “With pleasure.”

You’re enveloped by a crush of excited Vikings the second you step foot back on the mainland. Apparently, your little fight with Thor generated quite the amount of supporters, and everyone wants to see the goddess who can go toe to toe with the god of thunder and end up just as good as him.

Eventually, though, you manage to make your way out of the floods of people and find the one person you want to see most. You’re happy to say that Hiccup looks quite impressed. Not that you were doing it just for him, of course. But if you were, you would have succeeded.

He shakes his head, laughing. “You know, I think I have to take back what I said about you and Thor being so different. There were moments there, when both of you were fighting, that I swear I was looking at mirror images of the same person. The two of you have this same determination, this same sort of power, and I’ve never seen even a fraction of it with anyone else.”

You smile. “Well, I’ve been training with him since I was small. Guess we’d have to end up similar after that.”

Hiccup shrugs. “It was more than that, though. Watching you fight, everyone can tell that you’re some of the strongest gods they are.”

Hiccup sighs all of a sudden, looking wistful. “Look, I know that I don’t really have a chance with this kind of thing. Say what you want about the whole ‘Dragon Conqueror’ nonsense, but it doesn’t mean anything. You’re going to go on living long after I die, and I don’t want that to change, not at all, but it does mean that I’ll never really have much of a chance to call you mine. I’m mortal, you’re not. I know how these stories end.”

He looks away, and you touch his shoulder once. “They don’t all have to end the same way. Sometimes, the gods don’t notice how lonely they are until someone makes them want to stop being alone. Sometimes, villages on rocky cliffs feel more like home than any number of undersea palaces.”

Hiccup glances back at you, surprised. “You- I can’t ask you to change anything about yourself. You deserve to have your full life, all of your power, all of your glory. You won’t get that here.”

You lift a shoulder. “I also deserve happiness. So do you, no matter how long it lasts. I’ll always go on drawing breath, Hiccup. Sometimes I want to make it feel like living, too.”

He smiles in earnest now. “I think-”

You never get to know what Hiccup thinks, because your brother has a penchant for figuring out just when you don’t want him around, and discovers it now. He comes bounding over, beaming over how he just can’t believe how many fantastic fighters there are here, and say, you and Hiccup have really been talking for a while, haven’t you?

Thor suggests that you follow him down into the village again and takes off once more. You shake your head slowly, trying unsuccessfully to fight off your irritation.

“Literally centuries in this world, and you’d think my brother would figure out when he needs to stay away.”

Hiccup just laughs. “Don’t mind him. We have plenty of time to talk.”

And, watching him start back down the rocky hills, you find you agree. You don’t know how long you’ll be staying this time around, but you intend on making these days count.

this is too cute i’ll cry :( i’m going to continue to write with the same children characters so Oliver, Felix and Isabella. in this one Oliver is 16, Felix is 14 and Isabella is 11.

ok so imagine it’s a rainy saturday afternoon.

The rain had been most unforgiving today. It was coming down in bath loads. As much as you loved listening to the rain at night as it sent you to sleep, you hated it when it meant you couldn’t go and fulfil adventures with your kids. Especially this Saturday in particular since it was Harry’s first day off in a long while. You all had plans to visit a nearby castle and were going to take a picnic to have out, but the weather had other plans for you.

Instead, you’d spent the day inside and all cuddling together whilst watching movies. Each of your children were allowed to pick out a movie; Oli chose Fast and Furious 8, Fix chose Thor: Ragnarok and Belles chose Moana. Harry didn’t allow Belles watch Fast and Furious because it was quite graphic and contained bad language, so you and her went to make cookies for later.

It was now later.

“Ok who wants cookies?” You shouted to the boys in the other room, who you could hear had finished up their movie.

Belles and you had spent the last few hours baking your cookies. An assortment had been made; raspberry and white chocolate, raisin and oat and dark chocolate and orange. They were the three flavours that your family loved the most so they were always the ones you ended up baking.

You pulled out five glasses along with the milk you’d kept cool in the fridge. The Styles family absolutely loves cookies with milk, it was your guilty pleasure. It had started as a tradition when Oli was little and you’d just carried it on ever since. The way the warm cookies melted away like butter in your mouth and then downed with refreshing creamy milk was absolute bliss. It was a treat like no other.

“No you do it like this!” Flix stated, but about what you had no idea.

“What are you on about? It’s like this!” Oli challenged his brother, making you really curious as to what was going on as they approached the kitchen.

“Both of you are no help.” Harry finished the conversation, playfully hitting them on the backs of their heads as they entered the kitchen. It never failed to surprise you how tall your sons were in comparison to Harry. You were little in comparison, well apart from your little Belle. They were the spitting image of their dad and you couldn’t believe how alike they both looked, regardless of their 2 year age gap.

“What’s the fuss for?” You asked your boys, as you poured and handed Belle a cup of milk. She grabbed it with two hands and drank carefully, as Harry passed her and stroked his hand over his daughters hair once - out of habit.

“Trying to teach dad this TikTok dance, but he’s absolutely useless!” Oli laughed, seating himself at the kitchen island and Flix sitting next to him.

“Yeah only ‘cause you’re a crap teacher!” Flix playfully shoved his brother, who rolled his eyes at him.

“Oi.” Harry warned, not wanting the bad language to be picked up by Belle. You and Harry didn’t mind you sons swearing, as long as they weren’t too harsh words, but as long as it was only in front of just you two.

Don’t tell Grandma Styles this though.

“Sorry.” Flix held up his hands in surrender, pouring himself a glass of milk and then one for his brother.

“Mummy? Can I have a cookie now please?” She sweetly asked. You helped her up and onto the kitchen counter, next to the plate of gooey cookies. It didn’t take long for Harry to walk over and protectively stand in front of his daughter in case she fell off the side.

“Let’s see this dance again then, Ol.” Harry requested, Oli picking up his phone with a cookie wedged in his mouth and turning it around to show him. You had a little look for yourself too and laughed at the fact that Harry didn’t understand how to do it. It was a simple little dance to ‘Still the One’ by One Direction, which resulted in two people making a heart with their arms. It was so cute and simple and yet Harry was so uncoordinated.

“Oh you are such a plank.” You laughed, referring to how he was as solid as a piece of wood when he attempted to follow the moves on the screen.

It was making Belle laugh though, so it was worth watching your husband wiggle around like a jelly bean on fire.

“Hey, why are you laughing little miss?” Harry pretended to be offended, but could never actually be. He loved his little girl too much.

“Mum you try it with me.” Oli suggested, setting up his phone and coming around to meet you. You were pretty confident that you’d got the hang of it already.

The screen counted down from 3, 2, 1 and then you were copying the actions you’d just learnt. Flix could be seen hovering in the background watching you two ace the dance moves, whilst Harry could be seen devoting his attention to his daughter who had got crumbs all around her face.

“Go mum!” Flix hooted as you finished, joining you and Oli to watch back the video. You laughed at certain points and pointed out certain bits which were off.

“See dad, mum just gets it.” Oli said once you’d finished watching the video, returning to finish the rest of his cookie. Flix finished the rest of his milk before putting it in the sink for you to clean later.

“Alright, let’s me and y’mum have a go then.” Harry suggested, “Flix, watch Belles on there please.” He sternly ordered, not wanting any casualties unless it was him poking himself in the eye from dancing - which was highly likely.

Oli set up the phone again and pressed the countdown once more. Oli stood back with his siblings and laughed happily when he watched his sister trying to join in.

“Go Belle!” Oli cheered, making you turn around to see the commotion between the siblings. It was a blessed sight to watch.

“Oi focus on me, missus. Know they’re cute but focus.” Harry caught your attention as he finished his little dance segment, before you had to follow. You had no idea whether Harry had done it correctly, but you didn’t care it was just fun to be silly and young with him again.

Once you were finished you all laughed as you watched it back, especially as you focused in on the determination on Harry’s face. He’d actually aced it, which he looked awfully smug about.

He’d hold that over you all forever, now.

“Dad can I post these?” Oli asked. He had quite a large following on TikTok, even without posting content containing his dad in. He liked to keep his dad and his relationship quite private - because it was really special to him - so of course Harry welcomed the idea of people getting a slight glimpse of the Styles’ relationships.

You didn’t, however, expect the videos to blow up so much to the point where it became the most liked video on TikTok, talked about on almost every talk show and start a trend on twitter of #StylesforStrictly.
