like there is literally an entire Dev Status Sidebar that shows you what they're saying about whats going on that they update pretty regularly and they do dev updates + stay in contact with their playerbase and closely watch their reactions to updates to see where they messed up and what can be improved on. the only agreement i will give to communication issue is that the wording on aeq's post regarding the fact that it would be a gem breed took me 7 tries and i still dont get it bc it reads to me as "2nd breed will be treasure, 3rd will be gems"?? which is obv not true. I genuinely can't see what ppl mean by this being a confirmation. but thats not a communication issue it is a Confusing Wording issue. don't complain about communication unless you've played literally any other petsite bc i guarantee you this level of transparency and care you will find in very few other places.

I know not everything on the site is just made by One Person, I know what the artists do has little bearing on how the code or infrastructure are doing

But it still fuckin hurts to see staff releasing ancients with only months apart and digging themselves into holes with "gene fixes" and overall Releasing More New Shiny Content while things they had promised years ago (coliseum accessibility, the mess that is the UMA system, Tidelord and adventure mode, even the only installation of the promised beastclan lore update was over a year ago now??) are just left to collect dust

How do you feel about the Everluxes?

Well, I'm actually someone who generally dislikes Ancients. I usually find that they're kind of a "waste" of an otherwise interesting breed concept, and the fact they can't wear apparel means I find them difficult to work with even when the colors are all aligned. They're usually just "discount moderns," to me.

So Everluxes are everything I want, actually!

They're something that could never exist as a modern breed because they break the 4-legs 2-wings mold, they're SUPER unique in terms of their grublike proportions and big chunky upper legs, and they released with a ton of amazing line-breaking genes that are fun to play with. This is exactly what I feel like Ancients have been missing since their release!

I actually strongly disagree that these guys are "unfitting" in the Light Flight-- I think everyone who's saying that just doesn't like that Light has a fat dragon. I'm losing patience with the way they'll say, "It's not because they're fat, it's because they're inelegant, ungraceful, gross, tubular, long, round, etc" and just expect people to not realize those are being used as alternate words for "fat." The only person they're fooling is themselves.

They have a lot in common with the other breeds, actually. The wings resemble the Imperial's. The rhino-like horn reminds me of the pearlcatchers. They have the same prehensile "feeler" whiskers. Even the way that they're really long makes me think of a sort of "beta" imperial.

I have a headcanon that the Lightweaver made Everluxes and was suuuuper proud of them, her little "bookwyrms..." and then her bully of a sister, Shadowbinder, got REALLY mean about them. Took jabs at every chance, and ultimately made Veilspuns as "LOOK, IT'S YOURS BUT BETTER LOL. MAYBE YOU COULD LEARN SOMETHING. YOU LOVE DOING THAT, DON'T YOU?"

Long hair, sleek features, strong and tricky... Lightweaver loved her design, but when she looked at what her sister could do, she felt ashamed. She'd just wanted people to help her archive and preserve knowledge, but now that she was being pressured to compare her creations to someone else's, suddenly the joy was gone.

And, of course, FlightRising lore enjoyers know what comes next.

Spurred on by that fierce feeling of inadequacy, her next set of creations would be larger, more beautiful, more powerful than anything that had ever come before. She forced every tear, every sob, every moment of anguish she'd ever felt into her next creation. No dragon that walked the soil of Sornieth would be able to hold a candle to the light of the masterpiece within her claws.

Imperials came after the Everlux-- and Emperors in their wake. The Lightweaver swore to never create a breed out of anguish ever again.

concept art for the design of my training fields themed dragon; Torial! this is all a first draft of her head piece as well as her outfit. the version with the leather gloves is closer to what i want her to look like, however i need to take a break from this to refresh my brain before i keep fiddling with her design. i'm also going to take another crack at her head shape and tooth placement but i want to try to nail her outfit down first, i think.

Torial is part of a breeding/dressing up project i have right now! i'm geneing and dressing dragons to be themed after each coliseum venue, with apparel and paired with a familiar from their respective venues.

right now, i have Torial (training fields), Twiggy (woodland path), Ignis (scorched forest), Mirage (sandswept delta), Orchidae (blooming grove), Murmur (ghostlight ruins) and Oobleck (the mire) complete! i'm working on grinding for the pink silk scarf for Caftou (crystal pools) right now as well as picking up the skulking chitin set for the forgotten cave dragon

I think it's kinda stupid to keep wording the reflection scroll issue as "125 gems to flip a png" like .... it's all pngs. the whole game. you're complaining about altering a png on the altering a png game. Hypothetically you could make any dragon you want in the scrying workshop, add any apparel you want in the dressing room, save the png to your computer, and flip it in your own editing program. You could even make a thread and post all the images of your creations for other users to see. Why not just do that? If your answer to that is "it's not the same as having it in your lair" then you're acknowledging the aspect of gameplay and digital ownership involved in altering "the pngs" is significant, and therefore an item to flip the dragon can be an item that is valuable and adds value when applied to the applied the same way value is added with genes, breed changes, apparel, and so on.

After being inspired by @making-you-in-spore, @makingyourfavindti, and my general love of scrying up fandragons, I've decided to make this silly little gimmick blog! Now, it's time to answer some frequently asked questions. I'd recommend reading through this all before sending in a submission.

How are you doing this/What is Flight Rising?

Flight Rising (or FR for short) is a browser game where you collect dragons. I use the Scrying Workshop's Predict Morphology feature to create the base dragon, then I give them clothes with the Dressing Room.

What's that gibberish at the bottom of each post?

In case anyone wants to recreate the guys I make, I share the dragon's breed, gender, colours, genes, and what apparel I used below. If y'all DO make one of my scries into a real dragon, I'd love to see it!

What’s your uploading schedule?

As of November 20th 2024, I set up a queue that uploads once every three hours or so, for a grand total of five posts a day. However, this is liable to change in the future. And depending on my motivation, I might miss a few windows.

I try to not use skins/accents since it's hard to find exactly what I'm looking for, but will still use them on occasion. Also I just find certain poses kinda ugly, unfortunately cough cough female mirror. However, if you want me to use a certain breed/gene/colour/etc, then feel free to tell me in your ask!
