I mentioned to you one (1) time that I had some thoughts on an alternate version of the story and it seems I shall continue to be tortured to the end of my days lol.

This question is a lot more difficult to answer than you might think, flipping that particular domino has some massive ripples. I see it going something like this, Lute still cuts Vaggie's eye out because she feels like that punishment is required, but would try to convince Adam of choosing mercy afterwards. I do write Adamas perhaps a bit more nuanced than some but he... Has issues with people disagreeing with him (something something unresolved Lilith Issues). He would shoot Lute's arm off and then take both their halos. ((Would they be dewinged? Idk it feels like something Adam would overlook but also, like .. I don't like drawing wings))

What happens from there would result in very, very different people than the Vaggie, Lute, and Charlie we know.

Vaggie and Lute's relationship would be strained by the whole eye thing, but not nearly as bad as it was in PEW and I think being away from Lute helped Vaggie grow a lot more independent, though she might need to step up if Lute isn't handling things well

Lute... Would be fucked up by this. Betrayed by Adam!? Cast down!? She wouldn't know how to function for a bit, switch to survival mode. This version would likely not be exposed to the idea of Sinners being redeemable for a very long time and it would affect her ability to adapt as she constantly feels she is in enemy territory. Caught between trying to understand why she was cast down, feeling responsibility to protect Vaggie and feeling threatened would likely stress her out terribly

Charlie, well, this is Charlie fresh off her mom leaving and her break up, only just starting to flirt with the idea of helping the sinners. She lacks the experience that has started crafting her into a worthy leader and would very likely know she is dealing with Angels (Lute is a terrible liar and the first impression of meeting a bloody Lute trying to stab any demon that comes near her before passing out from blood loss would likely give things away)

Their group dynamic would be very different and they'd have a vastly different set of issues to iron out. The potential for any combination of relationships between them might still exist I think but the pace would be much slower to figure out. What might take months in PEW would take years here

the main one that i’ve been brainrotting as of late is the one i plan on posting once i finish hamartia,, but it’s tldr is that it’s like. a sad indie movie from the 2000s sort of vibe and also tide owns an aquarium. SHFNS basically will and vyncent have been working there forever as baristas inside the café there, and dakota decides to apply one day (more as a general aquarium worker though instead of food service) and a lot of shenanigans ensue and ashe + other pd characters play a big role in it ^__^ i can’t say too much about the plot but like the setting is really thought out and it’s based on the general utah area i live by because it’s very very pretty and i think there needs to be more literature set in utah(even if it’s lame podcast fanfiction). it also covers a lot more of the serious topics that pd shied away from and also is veeeery transgender but yeag ^__^ that’s all i can say about it rn

another one that’s been getting in my brain lately is a futuristic/cyberpunk -esque au. it’s mainly for the aesthetics cause i go crazy for that shit but im just thinking about dakota jumping from wires and bricks and strings of lights and leaping off trash and just fuckin. terrorizing the rooftops of this really cool city. in the end i think that william would be this underground vigilante/detective guy that heroes hate, and dakota would be a hero-in-training that tries to catch him to prove himself strong enough to be a Real Hero. vyncent is probably an older model of some sort of android (something built mainly for combat/work like the clockwork soldiers), and william found him on a mission way back and put him back together, and is now trying to Figure Him Out more. vyncent is trying to fight his faulty code, cause some parts of his “brain” see william as a friend, while others are screaming protocol at him to report will to the authorities and return to his station. ashe is probably in a similar situation to dakota, where she wants to be a hero but her dad stops her, so she just sneaks out one night and stumbles across whatever shit pd are getting into that time. idk i think adding an actual overarching plot to that owuld be so niceys but i need to think more about it

Takeomi realizing where his constant yearning to feel important and be for someone stem from the fact everybody leaves him. His father left, his mother left, his friends left - and it shouldn't be surprising, they've always been here for Shinichiro not him, after all - and maybe he left first for some of them, but why don't anyone stays? Is he that hard to love? And even before he gets left alone, even when they're still there, he's still no one's priority. There's always someone that gets prioritized over him, and sometimes that fact pisses him off insanely, sends him spiraling, and others there can be nothing but dull acceptance at the fact that, yeah, they've got someone else to care about more than him. That's how life is. He's starving for someone to give him everything they have, everything they are. The time of God of War was the best, because people found value in him, so, so many people to worship him and give him love and validation - at the end, all of it meant nothing because none stayed.

Maybe he doomed himself to it. Maybe that's just how life is.
