Mammon loves you so much, like this man is WHIPPED, so if you ever get hurt all of his protective instincts kick in

He's overprotective even if you don't get hurt. If it looks like you're in any kind of danger, he's right by your side anyway worrying about you like a devoted puppy

And then when you inevitably do get hurt, you *apologise* for it? Even though you're literally dying (he thinks)???? He's not having it!!

While he'll definitely chide you while he helps you recover, he's really just trying to cover up the fact that he's unbelievably worried about you. Pride isn't his sin but damn if he doesn't have way too much of it

It doesn't matter how many times this happens, he never gets used to it. And every single time he demands you don't apologise, but also demands that you be more careful not to do it again, lol

There is also a small part of him that does not want you to get hurt because he's the one who's been tasked with supervising you, and he knows Lucifer will ground his ass if he finds out you've sustained moderate injury (or worse. confiscate goldie)

He sometimes wonders how you can possibly be so nonchalant about it, because you're a fragile little human!! how aren't you more worried??!?!?!

Honestly this mf is such a hypocrite because i KNOW his ass is clumsy as shit too, but it's not okay when you do it because he loves you, and he doesn't like seeing his loved ones get hurt. So you better not keep letting yourself get hurt, got it??

After a while, he would just start filming you whenever you fall and making compilations of you eating absolute shit

Like, clearly it doesn't bother you. After the first few times where he gets all frantic and jittery, he learns not to take it too seriously

(Unless you genuinely injure yourself of course, which he'll panic about regardless of how you react)

Every time he sees anyone get hurt, in any way, ever, he'll point and be like 'haha babe that's you'

He doesn't want you to sit in his gaming chair because he knows you'll roll around in it and then inevitably fall down, damaging both you and the chair in the process

Levi would never admit this, but the more you hang out in his room, the more blankets and pillows he leaves on the ground where you guys sit to watch anime/game together. Claims it's to make you more comfortable but mostly because he doesn't want you to get hurt while he's watching you

He's so used to you wandering into his room, bloody palms/head/knees, that he begins to keep a first aid kit in there for you (he would also totally buy you anime-themed bandaids let's be honest)

His biggest struggle with all of this at the end of the day is when you enter his room while he's livestreaming and the chat starts spamming about the fucked up bloody ghostly spirit in the background and he has to be like 'no that is the loml actually'

Satan:

Satan is so normal ❤️ he's so Studio Ghibli man coded and I'll die on this hill

If you come home bleeding, he'll do all the classic romantic shit for you. I'm talking the gently cleaning your wounds, bandaging you up, making you warm tea, reading to you while you rest in his bed AUGH 😩

He'll ask you to please try to be careful and stay safe from now on, because he just couldn't ever get anything done constantly worrying about you the way he does.

You always promise to try and be more careful, but that promise is, somehow, never kept (he lets it slide because he's a sweetie)

When you two are cuddling in bed together he'll gently caress and trace his fingers over your assorted bruises and healing scrapes

Satan doesn't let you apologise for hurting yourself, either. He reassures you that it's okay, but he really does just want you to keep safe and well

He is willing to carry you sometimes to avoid you slipping. He'll also make sure you stay away from sharp objects and he'll idiot-proof his bedroom so you can spend time in there. This man will take no chances because he wants to hang out with you that much

Satan catches you if you trip because he's romantic like that. Tbh he's been so conditioned into expecting it that he's always on alert whenever he leaves the house with you

Congratulations, you pavlov'd the devil into being gentle and caring. Do with this new power what you will, but for the love of god please be more careful

Asmodeus:

You are actively driving up his concealer consumption because he keeps having to USE it all on you because you won't stop BRUISING

Dabbing some of it over a hickey he gave you is one thing. This is unreasonable, he says, it's ridiculous!

Asmo is so worried you'll get some kind of infection, so he's so careful when he does your makeup. He has alcohol wipes and warm cloths to clean your cuts and bruises and everything

He begins carrying bandaids with him just in case. He's really gentle when he puts them on, it's basically an intimate ritual between the two of you at this point

Tbh though he does love to pamper you, so he doesn't mind spending his time undressing you, washing you, cleaning you up and then cuddling you for the whole night (among other things- this is Asmo we're talking about)

You genuinely have nothing to worry about either, because you could just be a walking bruise and Asmo would still think you're the cutest human in the three realms. He'll still participate in an unacceptable amount of PDA regardless of how hurt you are and that's the Asmodeus guarantee

He's really way more worried about you than you are. He *insists* that you're more careful, because if you were to get seriously injured or die, then who oh who would go clothes shopping with him then?? Who would he have to do makeup on? Whose nails would he have to paint? The absolute horror

It's not that he's fine with seeing you hurt−he's not−but he takes little time to get used to it, and being as powerful as he is he knows he can just heal you

He kind of secretly enjoys being your healer. He likes the way you rely on him for that kind of thing, because let's be real he's got a dom thing. Don't lie to yourselves folks.

Whenever he sees a new mark on your body he'll sigh and ask what happened, more out of mild amusement than exasperation. If you're too embarrassed to answer he'll chuckle but not press further

Solomon is a teaser. He'll tease you about this, and there's nothing you can do about it. What are you gonna do? Tell Lucifer? They don't have a PACT (lmfao suck it)

(This is gonna be very embarrassing for me if it turns out they did make a pact in nightbringer and i don't know because i just never fuckin played it)

Anyway, you notice that as time goes on, whenever Solomon holds your hand, his grip gets just that little bit tighter. Like Satan, he is always prepared

Maybe he really is secretly worried about you. Who knows? Solomon is a wild card, but if there's one thing to be sure of, it's that he'll always be there to help heal you no questions asked.

Okay so just a rando ask, I was reading through the posts on your page,, and I came to thinking

If daemon truly abandoned Rhaenyra, why didn't he just run away with nettles? Why did he have to still fight for team black when he could have just flown else where with her? Rhaenyra would have met her own end inevitably. I’m no daemyra shipper, I’m not a daemon fan either it just doesn't add up. He sacrificed his life to get rid of the biggest threat of team green? Wouldn't it be fair to assume it was for Rhaenyra? Or atleast his children.

Now this is just my personal opinion, he loved nettles, yes (she's awesome who wouldn't 😩) but he also bore some love for Rhaenyra (she’s mommy🥰) as well. He chose to let go of nettles to protect her because he loved her. He chose to fight for Rhaenyra because in the end of the day he loved her and wanted to prove his loyalty to her (but wasn’t actually faithful lol)

I don’t believe in the theory that he fled with nettles, it just sort of feels out of character for him, to leave his children, Aegon the younger in the clutches of Aegon ii. Daemon imo would scream his head off if he knew his first born son was captured by Aegon ii, and somehow work up some scheme to get back into the game and possibly overthrow Aegon ii. And it just seems unlikely he survived the fall as well. 

Daemon is a complicated and morally grey character, but like any character he has his merits and he has his flaws. I think his love life would be as complex as he is, conflicted by both duty and love.

Ok, so first thanks for being normal even if you have a different opinion. Usually, I always get a bunch of people screaming at me lmao. It's cool to have rational discussions even if in the end the parts just agree in disagree. Now, back to the points you brought. I still disagree lol. Imo, Daemon didn't die for the cause, much less for Rhaenyra or his children. I'm gonna break down why I think this argument makes no sense whatsoever:

Fire & Blood never implies that Daemon had a close relationship or even cared that much for his children. He didn't hate them or anything, but we have no canon basis to say he was a fatherly type where he thought of his children that much or was willing to make huge sacrifices for them. This is fandom projection 101. So to say he did what he did thinking of his children is a stretch IMO.

Aemond wasn't Rhaenyra's biggest threat at the time. Her biggest threat was Daeron and the Southron army he had assembled. It's canon. "And yet, the greatest threat to Rhaenyra's reign was not Aemond One-Eye, but his younger brother, Prince Daeron The Daring, and the great southron army led by Lord Ormund Hightower." And that was before Ulf and Hugh's betrayal and before Rhaenyra alienated Addam by declaring him a traitor as well. So even if Rhaenyra didn't say anything about that in the letter to Daemon (which I doubt, since she was sending the letter to demand Nettles' death, so she sure talked about the dragonseeds' betrayal), Daemon knew about that already. He knew that without him, she was fucked, because she would have only Tyraxes and Syraxes on Team Black's side, and you can exclude Syraxes since Rhaenyra wouldn't go into battle. He knew all of that. He still chose to die anyway.

About running away with Nettles, a few things to consider. As long as he was with Nettles, she wouldn't be safe. If he runs away with her and Rhaenyra somehow wins the war, she will send for him. He would be a traitor, she'd never forgive that. If Rhaenyra loses, Team Green is definitely going after him. He would be a threat to the throne, they would never let them live. The best way to protect Nettles is to send her away alone. Besides that, regardless of what happened, if he ran away with her, he would never be able to return home and I doubt Daemon was keen on living on the run forever. It doesn't fit him.

It seemed like he was tired of war, tired of the scheming, tired of fighting. Even before I reached the point where he makes the decisions he makes, I felt his narrative shifting, and his time in Maidenpool with Nettles looked much more like a vacation to him and a respite than a mission. He seemed happy with Nettles, and happy with that bubble he created for them, but once reality burst that, he seemed done with everything. This is also sort of corroborated by his dialogue with Aemond, where he agrees he has lived for too long.

The narrative in any way frames his final battle with Aemond as something he is doing for the cause. Daemon might have gone through a somewhat redemption arc, but he's still very much a selfish man and someone who would never go down in any other way than not an epic way because he is "the rogue prince". His showdown with Aemond is written as something about both of them as characters whose arcs are mirrored at every turn, finally culminating in their final encounter, and written as Daemon's big send-off.

The narrative specifically frames his final act as a betrayal through Rhaenyra's lens, further corroborating all that was set up before, something that is narratively satisfying to the reader because at this point she's very much the villain instead of the hero. We have seen her burning bridges, behaving poorly with the smallfolk, and being unfair with allies, culminating in her acts against Addam, Nettles, and Corlys, and overestimating her hand to the point of being arrogant in her certainty that Daemon would come back to be with her after murdering an innocent woman. Until this point, Daemon and Nettles have been written as a romantic arc, one that ends in heartbreak, specifically because of Rhaenyra. So we have this moment of satisfaction when Rhaenyra realizes that even though she did everything she did, and she was so certain she would win, she actually lost. He left her. He betrayed her.

The story leaving the "possibility" that Daemon could have survived and gone to find his way toward Nettles serves to show where his loyalty truly lies, and where his heart is, in life or death. If anything, to believe he went on a suicide mission because he couldn't stand being apart from Nettles is a much more acceptable and logical conclusion of his final choices than the bizarre cope that is the "he died for Rhaenyra, for his children, or for the cause".

Finally, I don't think he loved both because I don't think he ever loved Rhaenyra tbh. Not like he loved Nettles or Laena. An argument can be made that he loves Rhaenyra in the show adaptation (although I disagree about that medium, but this is for another post). But in the book, it's very clear that she's not on top or even second in his list of "women I romantically loved most in my criminal life". I say Nettles comes first because his love for her seemed to come from a genuine place of wonderment and affection, with no hidden agenda behind it. Laena comes close behind because even though we don't know if he indeed fell for her or if he married her to advance politically after his recent downfall from power at the time, he clearly came to love her very much in the years they were together and was happy in their marriage. I say even Mysaria might come first to him than Rhaenyra, he clearly cared for her for a while and was very upset when they lost their baby. The only person beneath Rhaenyra is Rhea because he clearly hates Rhea. In the books, Daemon groomed and wanted to use Rhaenyra to get back at his brother/get closer to the throne and later they combined their shared vision and aligned political ambitions in a marriage that was beneficial to both of them. Obviously, there was physical attraction (and co-dependency on Rhaenyra's part), but love? I don't think so.

I don't get this "they discussed nsfw themes with minors they are totally a predator" thing I see even on proship side of fandom. Don't get me wrong, if it was a random adult getting random minor roped into discuss fetish stuff with them, it's could be red flag (still — when I was a minor I was deeply interested in some s/m practics and spent a lot of time in bdsm circles reading, asking and talking about this stuff completely on my own will so it depends). For example, I have one friend whom I know since they were sixteen. We started from them making a nsfw art for my fic and immediatly developed into talking in details what other kinky stuff they can draw. Predatory? God forbid, just pure entusiasm about more art for rarepair! Recently — and it was hillarious and awkward — I joined a fandom chat with people I don't know. We talked for a couple of days, about nsfw topics too, then one of people there told that they tried to audition as main kid character in our show when there still was casting. I was like "wait, it was less then two years ago and they specifically asked for preteens, 13 yo max?" and they was like "lol yeah, I turned fifteen like month ago". I asked them privately if they are good with nsfw stuff I bring into chat and they were like "yeah?? or we won't ask you to join?? duh". Which is fair, since, again, they already read and commented a lot at my nsfw fics and I did the same for them and we had little chat about there at twitter before I joined the group chat. So like... it's fandom, it's the place where people under 17 regulary read, write and draw stuff they shouldn't see without parental approval untill they turn 17, and like how it should work? You shouldn't comment a fic if you don't know if author minor or not? Or like you can gush about how this and this is sooo hot in their fic but you can't talk about this in private? Minor can like all your nsfw stuff and tell you how good it is but if you link them to other creators with same themes suddenly you're a predator who sends porn to minors and worth a callout? I don't want to be like "back in my days" but I was hanging with fandom adults since I was 13 yo and nsfw stuff was discussed freely around me and I just haven't joined until I was interested in topic, which was probably around 15, and no one thought it was somehow unsafe or damaging for me, myself included, but like maybe I'm missing something...

Now that I'm in my 40s, I don't particularly want to discuss horny stuff with teens in private. It feels weird in a way that it didn't in my early 20s.

But I despise how pearl clutching inevitably leads to the idea that even telling people kinks exist is "adult content". As a kinky teen, it was hugely formative to me to go read a bunch of adult perverts' web manifestos. I had all these informative books from the local sex-positive bookshops that talked about how to do bondage safely too.

I was able to get a lot of good info without really interacting with older people much, but that's harder these days. Lurking is more penalized. Search engines hide the ancient 90s sites. If you want to even find info, even just recs for books to go read on your own, a lot of that is through social sites that are all about interacting. That's just how it is now.

Seeing predators under every bush actually just cuts young people off from information and resources.

☕ Shattered Glass?

I actively dislike SG as it's been executed to date... a lot, lol. The problems with it for me are numerous, but to sum up the major ones:

The entire trope of a Star Trek-esque 'mirror universe' only works when this is a story within the 'main' continuity, as a narrative device that exists in the context of the work it's created to interact with. These kinds of stories are about, well, holding a narrative mirror up to the characters and setting of your work to contrast with them in a way that allows you to explore some core idea. But Transformers fandom is constantly insisting we want a Shattered Glass fiction continuity that exists in itself (see: that atrocious IDW miniseries they did), at which point this is just a bunch of random new characters, practically speaking. I mean. Listen. Shattered Glass Megatron in a side-story of a cartoon or comic is a 'what if?' story you can do something with; Shattered Glass Megatron in a comic that is Literally Just SG Stuff is simply Optimus Prime with a different alt mode and name, i.e. pointless.

It's also then hampered by the fact that even though the original incarnation WAS that kind of thing to some extent, it was uhhh. Bad. It was bad. Especially because it has no consistency with its gimmick: is it reversed morality or reversed personalities? Some characters seem to be just the former, but then some characters- but not all- are the latter. And then some decisions are just incredibly random? But TF fandom refuses to let anyone start from scratch by picking an actual solid concept and starting over from whatever they pick, everyone would throw a hissyfit if they fully started over, and we're stuck with all those initial weird choices from a really bad comic written for the fanclub years and years ago. Doesn't help, really.

I think SG could potentially be really fun in like. A two-parter gimmick episode of a cartoon, or a short arc in an ongoing comic, or whatever. You know. Like how the 'mirror universe' trope actually usually works. But instead we get fandom clamouring for it to be a whole line of independent fiction, and it inevitably sucks whenever some vague attempt comes about, so then everyone wants to clamour for them to do it AGAIN to make it BETTER, but. It won't be better! The concept just isn't built for that!!

Honestly, if it had just stayed some admittedly pretty cool toys and tantalising character bios handed over to fandom to have fun coming up with ideas for, that would have been ideal. A bunch of redeco'd and repurposed toys with some 'what if...?' style character bios for people to draw and play with in fandom spaces is really where that sort of idea thrives.

AAAAA I totally did not expect Homura, since I haven't even told that many ppl I watch the anime & I did draw Homura before...(i forgot to save 😭)

I grew up being exposed to old magical girls anime, liking both their personality & designs, and the same is with PMMM. Homura is such a tragic character, and the show with such a distinct artstyle, it kinda suits my tastes on any kinds of shows/movies, with things/feelings to stimulate my senses. I'm personally a lolita fashion girl, especially on the gothic side. So Homura (besides Mami) with her purple/black jk with a bit of frills outfit, has one of my fav outfits of the bunch. That's where the liking for aesthetic/design comes from.

I also watched the Rebellion movie, with, spoilers, Homura pulling Madoka off her godhood position, becoming the devil herself, and put Madoka in a world where she did not suffer. She's hardcore for doing so, and it actually made me think about my own feelings towards non-tangible love as well... Despite me not thinking Homura did the right thing, I still resonate with her, and loved the way she tried to be good but inevitably turned villain in the end. It's scary how after utter hopelessness & despair consumed you, one can still abandon even more to achieve a goal that determines your whole life's purpose. It's the love/stubbornness that pushes Homura to defy even the whole universe for just one person... Do I pity her or despise her? I felt so complicated after watching the movie, because by common sense, she was wrong, but I also pity her very deeply. So, my feelings on Homura is also as complicated as me wanting to put her in a blender & finding her very precious at the same time 🙈

AAAAA I can't wait to see the next movie 😭✨

First impression: I actually couldn't stand them at first! I thought he was needlessly melodramatic and not a very compelling villain. Maybe part of that comes down to me being an archival viewer of S1; it seems like some of his POV from then wasn't saved. But then I started watching S2 and went ohhh. and then the prison and castle arcs happened and i went ohhhhhhhhh.

Impression now: Brain go brrrrrrr. I grab him on either side of his head and go "You. You my beloved exploration of evil and devotion and justice and redemption and love and forgiveness and family. You dumbass jackass angst-riddled sorry sack of a person. You search for love without knowing what it looks like until you do. You." Actually not my favourite Fable character, that's a tossup between Wolf and Ari, but definitely the one I have the most Big Thoughts and Feelings TM about. In case you couldn't tell lol.

Favorite moment: Might be recency bias but I think it's got to be their talk with Haley in An Oracle's Truth. The subtleties, the looming tragedy, the foreshadowing that his death isn't quite the end, i rotate it in my head like a microwave. Also literally any breakfast stream.

Idea for a story: I actually have two that i'm in the process of brainstorming! One that revolves around him and oscar post-cathedral, when the loss of innocence is inevitable and you don't know what on fucking earth to say. And another that's a wolftross hurt/comfort twoshot about nightmares.

Unpopular opinion: S1 centross isn't very interesting. Killing a bunch of people isn't compelling to me; trying to be a person again afterwards is.

Favorite relationship: Can I cheat and say all of castle trio? The three of them together work so well, emotionally and narratively. They can all serve as another one's foil and parallel at the same time and they're idiots and i love them.

Favorite headcanon: In the first part of S3, their focus on Epros was him trying to find a new god to worship. Because he couldn't in good conscience worship Enderian anymore, but he didn't know how to function in a non-religious worldview. And then Epros let them down and the whole thing fell apart.

I honestly question why Zodd is still in the story, yeah he’s popular with fans, but I legit have no idea what else he’s supposed to be doing.

Is he supposed to be some sort of measuring stick for Guts’ strength? A leftover from the Golden Age arc? What purpose is this dude supposed to fulfill now?

I once confused Wyald with Zodd and I feel that he could’ve taken Wyald’s place in the story just fine. The band managed to bust out of Midland, boom! Zodd shows up, measures up Guts, and pushes him and the band to their absolute limits while Griffith can’t do shit to help like he did in the past. Would do Wyald’s narrative purpose better, probably without all the sexual assault Casca has to go through.

Idk I think Zodd has a few important roles in the story. He's a foilto Guts for one. He's someone who's succumbed to his blood-lusty dark side. He's a parallel to Guts as a monster in touch with his humanity, while Guts is a human in danger of succumbing to his monstrousness.

Sonia has that little scene where she calls Guts Zodd's counterpart and says they both have to make a choice between human volition or monstrous instinct, which explains the thematic significance of the two of them allying up to fight Ganishka. Zodd shows that monsters aren't inevitably monstrous.

Granted some of the other apostles do too, like Locus and Irvine, but I think it hits more effectively with Zodd because we've seen him at his most monstrous.

Plus Guts is driven to kill Zodd after having been defeated by him, but that drive is a contributing factor to Guts' own monstrousness, so there's good character stuff in place to make a potential final showdown between them feel epic and exciting and significant on a thematic and character level.

I don't think he'd work in place of Wyald either, based on how he's established in his previous two appearances. He backs off when he realizes who Griffith is, and then saves Guts' life by throwing him a sword at the battle of Doldrey. He's intent on preserving the Hawks for sacrifice, and actively doing what he can to help fate along. Wyald doesn't give a fuck which is why he kills a bunch of Hawks.

Also, I feel like Guts has to defeat Wyald, that's largely the point of the whole sequence. It's showing how powerful, but also how "inhuman" Guts is becoming himself.

Ultimately Zodd finishes him off to save Griffith, but he was dying from the wounds Guts inflicted at the time, so Guts functionally won.

I feel like it's a significant prelude to the Black Swordsman stuff that wouldn't work with Zodd, because Zodd would just kick Guts' ass. And there's no reason for Zodd to show up and fight the Hawks to test their limits either. They're all going to die in a day, as far as he's concerned, and Zodd is established as the type who doesn't hold back in a fight. Like the instant Guts breaks his sword in the keep, he transforms into his monster self and prepares to kill him, even though he's intrigued at Guts' skill.

To be fair you could completely rework Zodd's role in the story to make him more of a chump who Guts can defeat, then he's killed off and no more Zodd. But again, I like his role in the story post-Eclipse too. Griffith's main enforcer, a parallel and contrast to Guts, and someone Guts can eventually fight in a demonstration of how fucked up Guts has become.

Plus he's fun lol. I love the scene where they team up at the docks, eg. I like that he's a familiar touchstone for Guts in a way, as someone he interacted with a few times pre-Eclipse and who's now taken his place working for Griffith. It's neat.

But yeah that's just my opinion lol, if you're just not into him then that's fair!

oh i 100% need music when i'm writing! i listen to a lot of instrumentals, osts, and also vocal-less (karaoke) versions of voiced songs because sometimes I do find lyrics a bit distracting. i've been writing a lot of fic from honkai star rail lately, so naturally the songs i have on loop were from the Svah Sanishyu (Xianzhou Luofu) album: namely Serene Stroll and Warden of Jade. in general i've also been writing a lot (cross fandom) to Stories of Remote Antiquity which until today still remains my favouritest soundtrack from genshin.

okay i'm gonna cheat and put two, because i think they're sweet in different ways. please also note that they're both fics that are around 1000 words - this is the only way my fics can stay sweet and fluffy, or else angst inevitably sneaks in 😂

gosh, i have to think about this. i think "hope" as a theme is definitely one, also anything to do with long distance relationships (friendships too) and moving countries and stuff because that's a topic that's personal to me - if the fandom/pairing in question is related in any way to those topics, i will address it in my fic. also the importance of chosen names and titles and stuff like honorifics/ nicknames/ diminutives. like it's obvious in some fandoms (looking at you, James Bond fandom), but also, please know that i've actually draw a chart to remind myself how the five main characters in my MP100 gen fic address each other so i can write that accurately.

but also i just looked at the last bunch of fics i've written and they all have the same two characters drinking beverages in different ways but mainly as a comfort/togetherness sort of thing. this is kind of hilarious to me are my readers sick of me writing jy and dh like this? too bad you're getting more. maybe one day i'll write them actually eating food instead lol

Wow ._. I was really out of it, huh. Wintertime and tests do not go well... Solar "Gleamings" are, in fact, Solar Glarings (it's fine tho lol). I need to update my pages before I malfunction for the year. Aaaanyway, this'll be a bit of a rant, regarding your choices!

I gotta admit, Ishikawa and Nakamura being Dreamings together jumpscared me because that is a horrible idea and I love it. The thing about the text being all satanic is that Dreamings are a kinda secret 13th element.

While everyone else inhabits something physical, Dreamings inhabit... well, the spiritual dreamworld! Dreaming here is the involuntary process (usually :)) of stepping into their world for a bit. But, what's their equivalent to "dreaming"? Poltergeist activity! Much like when we dream, they'll start out not knowing what's happening or what they're doing... but unlike us, they have "Lucid" in their name for a reason, and they'll inevitably get the hang of it sooner or later. It's not like there's anything better to do. It's pretty isolating where the element is.

But poltergeist activity is just too uncommon (major activity only occurring from mostly younglings and them being the only element against 12) for it to be anything but a source of some speculation, and also the world's kinda going crazy. So while the Dreamings are aware of them (they get visitors all the time), they aren't aware of the Dreamings...

For better or for worse, when fucking Nakamura's a Dreaming. Yeah, he's definitely on the nightmare side of things; basically, a bunch of Dreamings were banished cuz plot and sent to the nightmare side of town, where it's kinda just the most grotesque horror everywhere and acts as a sort of underground. They set up base and the rest is history. Nakamura I can see being either the Extremely Sycophantic Servant™ character or the Problematic Celebrity™ character

Ishikawa's most definitely the Only Adventurous One That Isn't 8 Years Old™ character that wants to explore past the unbearably isolating spiritual world and actually interact with others outside her own element. Like Miyuki. Which doesn't bode too well cuz uhhh 1. the Arctic Freezings are like under a dictator or something rn sorry lol and 2. she Will be killed if fellow Dreamings find out (cough cough Nakamura), for putting her tribe in danger. The world is tense, everyone's hostile, and they do Not need to start introducing themselves now of all times.

And, that should be good enough for now! Of course Yoshida's a Scorching... revolutions and violence and riots and overall implosion of the kingdom is rife. Unlucky gal.

I figured it'd be interesting to put Camila and Nakamura in the same category with that XD

In that instance, it actually wasn't in reference to Kuroha/Saeru, but it definitely reminded me of him.

Irt canon-verse Kuroha/Saeru, he lacks humanity and genuine tenderness and love compared to my other faves.

This guy is twisted at his core and so sick in the head (/pos) so none of his ships with the Mekakushi Dan members are ever going to be normal.

They're all going to have the aspect of their relationship that inevitably includes his twisted selfish love for the other party. It's fine though, that [character quality of his] makes him more interesting.

Week 16 of missing Cipher Academy

Had outdoor activities again this weekend so I didn’t get much manga reading in, but I did start watching The Simpsons for the first time ever. I guess it’s one of those shows where it’s so legendary that I figure I should check it out, and it’s been fine so far. It’s gotten a few chuckles out of me, but I’ve gotta say that Homer is the weakest link for me right now. I don’t mind “lovable but bumbling idiot” type of characters, but he’s not particularly lovable to me currently…especially with the back to back episodes of Marge almost having an affair before backing out and Homer having his picture taken with an exotic dancer…it just never feels like Homer truly earns his redemption to me. My favourite sitcom of all time is Malcolm in the Middle, so it’s hard not to compare the two couples and see how Hal and Lois treated each other kinder and more fairly.

Monday

Akuheki fine…I’ll save my full thoughts for the ending but it’s not looking good, folks.

Girl Meets Rock good, love the teen drama. I’m a bit sad that it looks like it’s going to be a girl band vs boy band rivalry because co-ed bands are so rare in manga, but it is what it is.

Oshi no Ko fine…as expected, they’re pulling the punches and steering the story back to mainstream appealable normalcy, even sanding off the complication of Goro being an adult surrounded by previously teenage love interests by separating Goro from Aqua entirely. I don’t know, it feels a little cowardly I guess…it feels like they had stuff like the incest pseudo-age gap as a hook and a vehicle for both comedy and drama, but when they had to confront the logical endpoints of these ethical dilemmas, they just backed away completely and gave us a bunch of rationalizations to make the course correction as palatable as possible… I would’ve preferred that they just went for it, it would’ve made for a more unique and interesting story…but whatever…I’m sure everything’s going to end up perfectly happy and normal and I’ll think it’s mid.

Dandadan good, I see now why they introduced that cop as his own character. I’m excited to see how this figures in Zuma’s redemption, because the other kids haven’t really had their parental figures factor in their personal arcs (except maybe Vamola, but in flashback only).

Magilumiere fine. Obviously they were going to have a repeat of what happened to Alice for maximum drama lol

Chainsaw Man fine…? It’ll be peak if something actually happens as a result of this chapter.

One Piece very good…in addition to the massive lore drop, the spread where that one Elder splits the whole cloud in half was very cool.

Read through most of She Who Became the Sun’s second part and aghhhh the pages just fall away like nothing because I’m so engrossed in the political war drama… I’ve become really endeared to Ouyang (he’s such an interesting foil for Zhu) and the inevitably tragic tension between him and Esen (the scene where they drink together had me holding my breath). I appreciate Parker-Chan focusing on both sides of the war and how each faction has their own issues and internal power struggles. I don’t want to see Ouyang or Zhu lose, but their trajectories will inevitably pit them against one another, and it seems that only one will emerge as the victor. I’m also fascinated by Lord Wang – I was genuinely rooting for Esen and Wang’s relationship, but I don’t think they can ever come back from what happened now. But Wang’s shrewdness clashes with the Mongols’ sensibilities in fascinating ways, and I like how he sticks to his own principles no matter how much other people look down on him. Meanwhile, Ma and Zhu’s relationship is also interesting, and I like that Ma is showing Zhu what can lie beyond her base instincts of survival and achieving greatness. I will say that some of the wording does get repetitive at times (I think we get the greatness vs nothingness struggle by now without needing those specific words repeated ad nauseum), and I would’ve liked to actually see the Jiankang battle play out (war arcs can be really fun to watch when done correctly), but oh well. I couldn’t bring myself to read the climax of part two yet because I’m dreading what’s to come, but we’ll see how I feel tomorrow.

Mio’s still missing, Doubara’s floundering, and now with Haruji closing in I can feel the seconds ticking down to the bomb exploding…

Rewatched Succession season 4 episode 8 as I made dinner, and I really love how thematically cohesive it is. The episode starts with Tom basically laying out the thesis to us: information is power, and it’s important to know when and how to utilize it for maximum effect. This whole election is an information war told from the perspective of a news organization, and it’s so interesting to watch how the dissemination of information and especially misinformation can change the tide of reality. Lies becoming truth is another one of Succession’s main themes, and it’s articulated so well in this episode. From the uncertainty of who started the fire to the Schrödinger’s burned ballots to Roman undercutting Shiv with right wing buzzwords at every turn, it really is all about controlling “the Narrative.” And oh god, when Shiv tries to play the same game and it completely blows up in her face…her biggest misstep was definitely underestimating Greg. Shiv’s always so focused on one-upping her family members that she neglects Tom and by extension Greg, and she has no idea how entrenched Greg has become in all the spheres of power that surround them. (Conversely, Tom is hyperaware of this, having had a hand in raising Greg into the slimeball we see today.) Greg even gives her a chance to offer something of value to him, but Shiv just resorts to empty threats of violence and weird wordplay and all of it is downright cringe (and I like that you can see Greg thinking this too, as he just kind of just scoffs rather than cower like he did in their first interaction four whole seasons ago). And when it came down to it, Shiv failed to control the flow of information (not considering Ken’s connection with Nate nor Greg’s involvement) and it all came crashing down around her…and that being reflected in the election is so genius.

Finished Simpsons season 1 and it was pretty okay. I like seeing the world expand and being introduced to new recurring characters who inhabit Springfield. I really liked Krusty Gets Busted, just a fun little mystery episode and it’s funny how intellectual and well-spoken Sideshow Bob is. I think Bart and Lisa are my favourite characters, and it was really cute to see Bart care about Krusty and eventually prove his innocence.

Got to the end of part 2 of She Who Became the Sun and wow…I was initially a little put off by Zhu intentionally inflicting biological warfare on her own soldiers in order to avoid taking a side in the incoming coup, but I guess it was her only real option…it seemed uncharacteristically callous at first read, though. I loved that the climax to part 2 was Zhu and Ouyang’s confrontation. After all the build-up and shifts in power on both sides of the conflict, having these two foils finally clash was amazing. Not only are they both invested in/representatives of their respective sides, but their conflict was also so personal and meaningful. It can be difficult to write a high-stakes fight in which your protagonist loses but doesn’t die, and I like the resolution here of Ouyang cruelly aiming to disfigure Zhu and subject her to a life of scorn rather than an honourable death (I’m sure Zhu won’t be deterred so easily, though).

DunMesh episode with a side of the same thing I had last Thursday, but it wasn’t as good as last time. The food, that is, because the episode was amazing and so so funny. I love all of Marcille’s weird movements as she tries to control the familiars, the gags about the shape of the familiars, and the final punchline of eating them. Just a perfect comedy episode.

Started Simpsons season 2 today, and I’ve gotta say, the writing has gotten a lot better. Homer’s more likeable, for one thing, but also the episodes feel tighter and more deserving of the reputation that they still have today. I can see why even I knew about the Bart Gets an F episode despite never having seen Simpsons before.

Watched the latest Smartypants episode, and to be honest the first two powerpoints felt like just normal educational presentations despite their wacky subject matter, but it was still entertaining to watch. But I really appreciated Raphael for being the first one to actually embody a character giving a presentation, and his was my favourite of the episode.

I do wonder if Qimir’s obvious jealousy of anyone else around her will become a bigger problem in the future? Like, if they form or join the KoR, will he become possessive if she becomes at all close with any of member of the group? It’s one thing now where it’s almost cute, it’s the beginning stages of a relationship, he wants that kind of honeymoon period. It might not be so cute down the line. I say this because they are a dark side couple, so relationship problems between the two of them seem inevitable. I would hope he would mellow out with time and trust, but if they spend a bunch of time on baldemnic love island alone with just Plagueis for company, he might get worse, not better.

*edit* I did vow to ship characters for evil intentions only, so …

The more I think about it, the more implausible Mae joining Oshamir on not-Bal’demnic was.

• Qimir was never gonna share Osha with anyone, much less her twin.

• People noted the spaceship was only for a pair. I mean we could’ve gotten a hilarious sexually charged scene of osha sitting on Qimir’s lap so Mae could take the other cockpit, but that didn’t happen.

• Qimir wanted Mae dead and only spared her life for Osha. He wouldn’t tolerate having her around day-after-day. By the end of his tenure with her, he was weary of her presence. E4 really highlighted how incompetent he thought she was.

• I’ve made this point before but I say it again: a part of Osha, how ever small, wanted to be alone with Qimir. He was one of the first choices she ever made for herself - it didn’t matter how selfish it was. Osha’s entire life has been about her wanting freedom above all else and I think she’d feel smothered by Mae’s presence eventually.

• 🛑 controversial point 🛑: “did you give the same pitch to my sister?” is a loaded question. Qimir is, objectively speaking, an astoundingly good looking man with charisma to match. While the audience knows he never showed an inkling of affection for Mae (certainly not the same kind he gave her sister), Osha doesn’t know that. She asked the above question because she wondered if he and Mae had the same 🔥 tension 🔥 as she does with him. Mae trained under Qimir for years so in the back of Osha’s mind, she might feel hints of jealousy living in a confined space with the two of them.

• Osha wanted to save Mae from going any deeper into the Dark Side. Poor girl had already been through enough.

Venice anon here! I was at the premiere just for the beginning and the end and it was, in my colleague’s opinion, “the most awkward one we’ve ever worked”, and we probably worked more than 200 between the two of us. The cast walked in without much fanfare while guests were still being seated, which is unusual. There was an award being given to the costume designer and the side of the gallery where crew was seated was louder for that than for the film. The costume designer gave a very nice thank you speech to Olivia and it seemed like things were going to go well for her but by the time we came back the vibe in the room was very different. It was one of the shortest applause we’ve ever seen, with the fact that Florence just started to walk away about 2 minutes in being the complete kiss of death. I am flabbergasted that a room full of fans and crew was so cold when it came to the end, like that is THE most forgiving room you’ll ever screen your film for. I guess they were picking up on the awkwardness of the cast vibes which was palpable. My colleague called it the “cringe mist”.

As far as Holivia interactions go, the one where they briefly whisper behind Chris’ back was literally the only one before and after the film. I was standing where I could see her directly and my girl was trying but Harry was literally saying hello to anyone who would look his way rather than locking eyes with her. I saw them standing before the screening and they were in separate groups, I’m sure they must have interacted but it definitely was not date night lol. Some of the Italian girls working as ushers there were saying “we should try, he’s obviously single” or something like that.

Re the Nick kiss, they did that because in the opening scene the characters joke kiss in the same way. We all know he would have picked Chris, cmon. Who, btw, was high as a fucking kite.

In general, this film is the talk of the town but the old motto of Olivia’s namesake about all press being good press doesn’t really apply here. She made such a spectacle of this and the film doesn’t nearly hold up, and all everyone’s talking about is how insane this rollout have been. Her and Harry are the ones that are coming out of this worse, and I’m so happy he has My Policeman coming out soon because otherwise I fear his acting career might not have the longevity we all hoped.

Trust me, the “cringe mist” was felt all the way over here. I was dying of second hand embarrassment for H. I think everyone with eyes and a working brain could see and feel the awkward and cringe vibes. And everyone ignoring Olivia, especially Florence and Harry, was abundantly obvious!

I just hope that whatever they're doing, this marks the start of the "are they still together?" press that inevitably ends in breakup articles everywhere when the movie drops.

Olivia's got what was coming for her. She greedily lapped up every single ounce of Harry Styles' fame for herself for the past two years, and inserted herself in every single tabloid and narrative to sell this movie. Her team must SUCK, because evidently they're a bunch of yes-people, bc no way a good team would have advised her to do this knowing full well her movie doesn't hold up. Heck, the entire fandom has been saying this for years - so that's evidence enough.

I kind of love that Harry kissed Nick after the movie was shown. Everyone in attendance obviously knew his joke - but to literally the rest of the world who hasn't seen the movie yet, to them and the press, it's Harry Styles excitedly kissing his male co-star after ignoring his alleged girlfriend during her own movie premiere. THAT speaks volumes tbh.

I agree, I am SO GLAD that H has My Policeman coming bc all the press he's gotten from DWD and his interviews, paired with the film's terrible reviews would have meant certain death to his acting career otherwise. "Just another singer who thinks they can act". I'm VERY hopeful that his name and acting career are redeemed thru My Policeman. The film, and Harry's Tom, have gotten nothing but praise so far. And the fact that the whole cast has already won an award is so telling.

I knewwwww Chris was high as kite kauhgdkasjhd he looked it. Damn he had a lot on his shoulders: promoting a movie he doesn't want to be associated with, with a director he doesn't like, for a film he knows is shit, AND he was the designated Holivia buffer all day, having to sit and stand between them or next to Olivia all day long so that H could be as far from her as possible. GOD - I too would like to not be sober for that.

I'm sad for Harry that Olivia's greed, unprofessionalism and lack of directing talent affected his performance in this movie so terribly. he got no time to rehearse, as he jumped on the project merely a few weeks before filming. Had no time to work thru things with a dialect coach, flesh out scenes or receive good direction for the final takes.

Glad your friend realizes his queerness. Sad it had to be this way tho. It does remind me of when we got those god awful holivia yacht kissing pap pics - and everyone was like "ewwww Harry Styles must be terrible in bed! He has no sex appeal or knows how to touch that woman!".......which....well....self explanatory. I hope Harry gets to redeem his acting skills in a new movie where he can show that with a proper director, professional environment and adequate time for rehearsals he too can convey sexual chemistry and passion with a woman on screen. Real life tho....better step away from the stunts for a while.

Title: The Unrehearsed, Rehearsed Speech.

Pairing: Chris Evans x Wife!reader

Summary: Your husband, Chris has been nominated for best actor in a leading role when it’s time to say his speech it doesn’t go exactly how you both rehearsed.

A/N: While writing this I made up a fake character name and film to go along with the plot and now it is making me want to turn it into an actual fic. I hope you enjoy!

"Chris, Y/n… over here… look over here", the paparazzi shouting left, right and centre as they flashed their cameras and bright lights into your faces. This was the everyday life for you now; since marrying Chris, you had to indulge with him in his fancy career. Tonight was just another one of those nights, attending another award show with him like it was an everyday thing, which to you, it was.

Chris rested his hand on the surface of your back, walking you both through the red carpet, posing for all the photographers. You sported a beautiful black dress with just the right amount of ruffles to cover something that the world did not know about yet. Both you and Chris had made it a game with each other of how long the pair of you could go hiding your pregnancy from the public, and so far, you were six months strong in the game. When both you and Chris found out you were pregnant, you both were so over the moon, the pair of you had wanted children since the day you met each other.

As you two walked across the carpet, Chris smiled down at you as the camera's clicked the moment into photos. He was so in love, and everyone watching could see that. "Y/n… Chris, please look this way" you had one of your arms wrapped arm his torso like he did yours. You held onto his softly to have a bit of support as walking in the heels was not your thing anymore, and you were already dying to take off your feet.

"Are you okay, my love?" Chris asked sweetly; you smiled, nodding. "I'm alright, don't worry about me" Chris nodded, giving you a small peck to your lips before posing again to take a few more photos with you.

It was so hard for Chris to not instinctively rest a hand on your belly, something he had been doing for months now. Every time his hand would raise to set his hand on your stomach, he would curse himself before resting it back by his side. Your husband was that way when it came to secrets, always finding a way to let the cat out of the bag when it wasn't on purpose. Chris' brother Scott was here with you both too; you had begged him to come because you wanted to have a little fun tonight while Chris was presenting and hopefully winning the biggest award yet.

The pair of you followed Chris' publicist as she leads you through the doors and to your table. A big smile set across your face as you saw Scott sitting down, he inevitably was your best friend, and sometimes Chris swore you were married to Scott instead of him. "Scott!" You beamed. Chris still had his hand protecting the surface of your back as he guided you through the hundreds of people. "Hey! Y/n, Chris!" He smiled, getting up from his seat. He took his brother into a warm hug before turning to you "you look stunning as always" he took your hand, giving you a bit of a swirl. Chris intentionally coughed, grabbing both you and Scott's attention "oh sorry… and you too, Chris", Scott joked.

You chuckled a bit before taking your seat next to Scott as Chris took the seat on the other side of you. Chris began to fiddle with his thumbs, something he usually does when he's nervous; turning to look at him, you smiled, opening your hand. Chris took your hand into his, holding it firmly, "Don't worry… It'll be over before you know it, love." you whispered into his ear. He huffed a small laugh kissing your lips "then I can spend my night talking to you and little bubba", you gave him a soft nod, "indeed you can".

You turned back to Scott, who leaned in close to whisper, "that dress is doing a good job of hiding your secret" he smirked. You rolled your eyes, "It is the only thing doing a good job to hide it. You know how many times tonight I've seen Chris trying to touch my bump," you chuckled. "No surprises there." "yeah... I know" you both sighed in agreement.

"Welcome to the 95th Annual Oscars award show", and here we go; a possible four-hour award ceremony, multiple intermissions and a lot of toilet breaks were in your future, but you hoped that Chris winning an award was also one of them.

The three of you sat there around your table who also homed Scarlett and her husband Colin and Robert Downey Jr and his wife, Susan. All your close friends and family knew about your bundle of joy, so they had no issue playing the game. Everyone in your life were equally supportive. Chris sat watching as the nominees and awards were being presented; one of his arms rested on the back of your chair. The pair of you faced forwards, watching the award show take off.

"Now for the nominees of best actor in a leading role" Scarlett had gotten up a few minutes before as she would be the one presenting this award. She smiled, looking up as she read from the nominee list. You had looked at your husband in that brief moment when his name appeared on the big screen; you were so proud of him. Chris had that twinkle in his eye, and all you could do was look at him and smile.

He had looked at you as well, the smile on his face and the faint whisper as he mouthed, 'I love you.' Your thumb caressed the top of his hand as Scarlett began to open the envelope. "And the Oscar for best actor in a leading role goes too…" you took a deep breath in; you had grabbed Scott's hand too for support.

"Chris Evans for his leading role in the film Murphy", your eyes widened looking at your husband, who is in complete shock. Everyone stood, giving him a round of applause. You stood up too, clapping in his direction. He took you into his arms with a big hug and kiss, which you so proudly returned; he hugged Scott too, before making his way up onto the stage.

The tears of happiness fell from your face watching as he received the award from Scarlett. He stood in front of the microphone, looking out into the audience, both handing holding the award as Chris so happily laughed.

"Oh god… I- uh… I really don't know what to say. First of all, I'd like to take the time to dedicate this award to all the leading nominees tonight. Every single one of you plays huge roles in this, and I congratulate you on it. Thank you so much for this award. I cannot thank everyone enough for their support and love given towards this film and my character." He calmly breathed before continuing his speech. The speech that you had helped him work on when he found out he was a nominee. It was a simple guide, but he was doing good so far.

"I want to thank the producers and directors of this film, it has been such an honour to work with you all… to the crew who spent their days and hours working on getting this film where it is today, to my fans, thank you so much for supporting me; I am so humbled to be supported by you all.".

The smile that paved your face, hearing how giddy but nervous your husband was. His face said it all. "And lastly, I'd like to thank my beautiful pregnant wife, y/n Evans", your gasped hearing Chris and you watched as he makes a mischievous grin. You shook your head softly, pinching the bridge of your nose. This was it; you knew eventually it would end; you just didn’t think today of all days would be the day everyone would know you were pregnant. You smiled as everyone began to clap. Scott tapped your shoulder, gesturing you to stand; you sighed, taking a stand from your seat, caressing the bump so that it had accentuated your big belly. Chris chuckled. This was most definitely not in the speech you had prepared with him. The claps got louder, and a few whistles heard in the distance, which made you audibly giggle.

You took a seat back down as your husband continued, "I know I wasn't supposed to share that with you all, but I couldn't wait" he smiled at you, "thank you so much for being my support every single day, baby, you have been an absolute saint, and I cannot express how grateful I am to have you in my life." You sent him a kiss with your hand. "Thank you for making me your husband and a dad." He spoke in pure love, "I don't think I would be where I am today without you, so thank you" he smiled, raising his award in the air "thank you all", he side grinned before gaining another big round of applause. He walked backstage with Scarlett to the winners quarters while the publicist had gotten you, Scott and Colin to follow as she took you backstage. As you walked past, a few people congratulated you, thanking them for their kindness.

Scott smiled playfully, punching your arm "you owe me $20", he spoke, causing you to sigh. "Scott Evans, you better not have coerced my husband into adding that to his speech" you sent him a deep glare. "What? Me? Noooo", he shook his head. "Never", he laughed. You smiled seeing Chris. You carefully ran towards him, embracing your tall, handsome husband in a hug. "Congratulations, love." You smiled, cupping his cheeks softly, placing kisses on his lips. "I am so so proud of you" Chris' face lit up, and he smiled. He held your sides softly, "I love you so much", he spoke, kissing back into you.

You chuckled as he bent down to kiss the top of your bump through the ruffles. "And I love you" "We both love you so much, Chris", you replied, smiling before slapping him on the arm. "But not as much as I dislike you for the unrehearsed lines of your speech" he stood straight, cupping your cheeks ", you knew I would lose anyways, my love… I broke the records for best announcement ever" you laughed softly.

"I wouldn't say that, but" you shrugged your shoulders ", I'd like to see the plans you have for announcing our next child", you half laughed.

Chris gave you a devilish smirk. "Oh, don't worry, baby, you can leave that to me".

After Scott had congratulated Chris, the three of you celebrated a little in the winners quarters, with others congratulating you. You both left to go home and spent the night in bed. You snuggled in the blanket with Chris' chin on your bare belly. He was talking to his daughter all about how he was ready for her to come.

"I cannot wait to meet you, little one. Dada loves you so much already-" his voice is cut off when you begin to chuckle, "hey baby" you look down at him, showing him the screen of your phone. Every news article commenting and congratulating you both on your baby. Videos of Chris' speech, tweets, Instagram posts.

You smiled as Chris planted a few kisses over your belly.

"See Bub, the best announcement ever. Everyone loves you already".

character analysis: the nxx boys and “bad things”

okay so ive made a chart and it’s gonna look like A Lot but i swear i can explain myself fully if you read to the end

this chart is visualizing what each nxx boys’ tendencies, behaviors, and actions seem to lead back to.

on the left side, we have vyn and marius. 

i havent played too many of vyn’s stories, but thanks to some discussion with my friend kathleen @miladymiss​, somebody who HAS played a bunch of vyn’s stories, ive come to the vague conclusion that vyn has this general perception and belief that the world is cruel. he has an expectation that everybody has some kind of ulterior motive, that people will cast out those who are not in accordance with the mainstream, that people will hurt others. he does not want bad things to happen to him mostly because he expects that bad things will happen. to counter this, he leverages himself into a place of control more often than not (link leads to a prev vyn theory i wrote about this). 

marius on the other hand seems be the opposite in the sense that it’s actually his hope that people can/will be good that gets him into hot water. he employs facades and acts to protect himself from bad things happening to him (link leads to a prev marius analysis i wrote about this), because lol that actually has already happened a bunch, and yet he still has some a belief that people can change, something that makes him go to many lengths to try and prove.  if vyn expects that bad things will happen, marius does too, but marius, deep down, still wants to be wrong about that. to counter the danger his hope may cause, he puts up walls to mask his sincerity and true self.

vyn actively puts himself in control so that bad things do not happen to him. marius passively protects himself with his masks so that if bad things do happen to him, he’ll get out of it somewhat unscathed (or at least thats what he hopes, rip king). vyn is taking charge while marius is taking precautions.

but i want to immediately nix the thought of “i do not want bad things happening to me” being a purely selfish desire, because this desire, when pushed by friendship and/or love for another person, branches out into “i do not want bad things happening to you.” that’s pretty damn selfless! it’s protective! vyn and marius caring about another person would be them thinking something along the lines of “dont be too trusting, that will only get you hurt.”

now on the right side, we’ve got luke and artem

let me go to artem first (because i want to save my ultimate fave for last HAHA). the thing about artem and the “bad things” he doesnt want to do is that it manifests in the form of failure. ive said in a bunch of posts (cant link them bc theyre scattered over several posts hhh) that my vague conclusion on artem is that he holds himself to a merciless and meticulous standard because his life has been all about earning things, and the only way to earn things (sometimes things that do not need to be earned, like...happiness, artem, u good???), is to work tirelessly for those things. artem is scared of being underserving, and if he underserving, if he fails, he is a committing a sort of passive “bad thing” to those around him. 

luke, on the other hand, is in my opinion, frigging nuts. ive written an analysis on how luke perceives his existence and effect on other people’s lives as an inevitable negative. in this analysis, there is no “if i fail,” like artem. to luke, he thinks he’s already done it. and it’s not that he’s failed, it’s that he’s a bad thing completely (or at least a bad thing waiting to happen, and for him, thats fucking close enough). luke is both simultaneously scared of not being good and resigned that he is not good. he thus thinks that almost all of his desires are selfish and/or greedy somehow, because hey, im bad, why do i get to even want the rewards of being loved, thats not right! to luke, he is actively committing a “bad thing” to those around him at every given moment of his current life.

artem passively stops himself from being a bad thing by repressing aspects of himself he thinks to be faulty and/or not perfect (most of the time, emotions) to protect those around him. luke actively stops himself from being bad thing by putting the lives/desires of others above his own life/desires as some kind of penance for the people around him. 

now i want to immediately nix the thought that “i do not want to do bad things to others” as a purely selfless desire. it looks like that at first, but when this concept is pushed by friendship/love onto another person, it branches out into “i do not want to do bad things to you.” which, sure, is noble, but is also very focused on the self, on wanting to control the self and self’s effect on other people’s lives.

vyn and marius are worried about the threats from the outside while artem and luke are worried about the threats coming from themselves. all of them have their specific ways of dealing with this worry. all of them have their pros and cons, their strengths and weaknesses, but damn.

doesnt it feel great to see it all compared and contrasted on a chart???

....or is that just me HAHA
