Danny shifted, clearly uncomfortable under Bruce's unwavering attention. "He's… dangerous, and immoral," he admitted, crossing his arms uncomfortably. "He's the one that discovered that I'm a clone, and that my DNA is unstable. I… didn't grow up knowing." He clenched his jaw.
"You grew up," Bruce said without meaning to. Danny shrugged tensely.
"My… creators knew that my DNA was unstable, and they hoped letting me grow naturally would help," Danny said. He smiled sardonically. "It did, technically. I'm destabilizing slowly instead of all at once."
Bruce nodded, a pit growing in his stomach. "The man you're trusting to help you."
"I don't have a lot of options," Danny said flatly. "Fewer than most clones would. It's fine. He's obsessed with me; he discovered the problems with my DNA in the process of trying to clone me. Like I said, he won't let me die, and he's not interested in you. He's interested in… traits I acquired during experimentation." Evasive again.
"What does he want in exchange."
That earned him a confused glance. "Nothing from you," Danny said. Bruce held his gaze, waiting. "…He hasn't said. I don't have any power to negotiate, so I decided it was a problem for later. Probably, he'll demand to adopt me. I expect he'll have rules. I don't really know. We haven't exactly gotten that far."
"Why."
Danny sighed, leaning back on the table where he was still seated. "He's lonely," he said, with unexpected and open pity. "He wanted to marry my mom-" Twitch. "…The woman, of the couple that made me." An open wound, Bruce noted. "But he couldn't. He has no one."
Bruce's mouth curled down. "Has he assaulted you?"
Danny looked at him again, clearly unsettled by his concern. "Sexually? No. And he hasn't indicated that he wants to. Physically?" He huffed. "Well… maybe he'll stop once he has what he wants." There was no fear there, only bitterness.
Bruce pulled the picture together in his mind. According to his words, Danny had grown up believing he was a normal child, despite experimentation that left lingering effects (unless 'experimentation' was a euphemism for something else?) and had only recently discovered otherwise because another man was attempting to clone him. To acquire him. That man had, apparently, told Danny, and they had composed a plan to attempt to save his life, possibly without Danny ever returning to his creators after the revelation.
"And you intend to stay with him."
Danny clenched his jaw, glaring at the floor. "I told you, I don't have a lot of options," he gritted out. "We'll see, okay? Maybe he'll calm down once I'm actually living with him and not beating him off me with a stick. I'm sorry I can't MacGuyver my way out of this like you can." Tight and insecure.
Either Danny was a very good actor, or he actually expected that Bruce would knowingly send him away to live with a 'dangerous and immoral' man that he described as 'obsessed' with him. Given Bruce's extensive experience with damaged teenagers, he suspected it was the latter.
Tim was acquainted with the cloning process, due to his close friendship with Kon. And Oracle would most likely be able to recover CADMUS' research on stabilizing cloned DNA. An idea started to form in Bruce's mind.
At that moment, Tim returned from the lab, far too soon to have finished the DNA extraction process, let alone analyzed it.
"I don't know how you get this from DNA," Tim announced, holding up a tube of buffer fluid that for some reason glowed faintly green, "but I have never seen a sample break down so fast."
Danny dropped his head into his hands.
Gut Feeling
DPXDC
Commissioner Jim Gordon meets an odd kid in the precinct.
--
“Come on, you really don’t have a way to directly contact Batman?”
Jim smiled. Kids came to the station and asked that all the time. Usually, it was just curiosity and showing them the signal was enough to get them to sign up for the Junior Police program. This one looked a little older than most, teenagers were often “too old” to believe in Batman, but again, give them a little faith now and they’ll never loose it.
“Lookin’ for the Bat, kid?” Jim asked, knowing he was about to make this kid’s –
Jim froze. The kid turned to face him and it was Bruce Wayne. Not playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne, but freshly a teenager Bruce Wayne. The Bruce Wayne who Jim had checked in on time and again from age eight until he ran off on a globetrotting trip to find himself. The little Bruce Wayne with too pale skin and dark bags under his eyes, and not enough love to make up for all the grief weighing him down. And he didn’t look like Damian either, where Bruce was obviously his father but there were distinct traits from his mother. This was a carbon copy of a boy Jim remembered vividly.
“I am.” He even sounded like teenage Bruce. All business, like he was on a mission.
“I might be able to help you, but it’ll take a while.” Jim said and the officer the kid had been talking too gave him an odd look. He waved her off and told the kid to follow him to the commissioner’s office. Normally, he’d be more dramatic, put on more of a show for the kid, but his gut told him this was different, this was important. He offered the kid a styrofoam cup of water then closed the door behind him. “So, what do you need to talk to Batman for?”
“It’s personal. I need to talk to him in person.”
Jim took a sip of coffee from his cup. “He doesn’t appreciate me calling for no reason in the middle of the day.”
“So you do have a direct line?” The kid nearly jumped out of his seat. “If he’s upset, it’ll be my fault, just call him, please.”
“Who should I say wants to talk to him?”
The kid hesitated. “He doesn’t know me, but I have to talk to him.”
Jim frowned. “What’s your name, kid?”
He swallowed and looked like he wasn’t going to answer for a moment. “Danny.”
“Danny…?” Jim wanted a last name but Danny kept quiet. Jim sighed, “He’s likely not going to show up until sundown.”
“I can wait, as long as you guarantee he’ll show.”
“And you’re not going to tell me why you need Batman?” Jim just got a glare in response. “What about one of the other heroes?”
“Only Batman, no one else can help.”
“You sure about that? Not even Superman?”
“Not unless Superman can get me in the same room as Batman.”
“Why’s it so important that you meet him in person?”
“It’s personal.”
Jim liked this less and less by the minute. “Do your parents know you’re here?”
Danny looked away but right when it looked like he wouldn’t say anything he mumbled. “They wouldn’t care anyway.”
After another moment to give the kid time to reconsider, Jim pulled out the Bat-phone. It was a normal Wayne-Tech cell phone, but Jim had been given very specific instructions on how and when to use it. The phone listed all the Gotham Vigilantes without visible numbers so they couldn’t be copied and handed out. He pressed the one for Batman.
“Stand outside, would you?” The kid gave him a look, but followed the request. Jim could see his shadow in the door’s window, not so subtle eavesdropping.
It rang a few times, and Jim sat there awkwardly with a teenager listening to his every move. Finally, a familiar voice picked up the other end of the line. “Commissioner Gordon.”
“Sorry to call you out of the blue Batman, but I’ve got a kid here who needs your help.”
“Who?”
“Says his name is Danny, that you’ve never met him but you’re the only one who can help him.”
“Why?”
“Refuses to tell me.”
“What’s your best guess, Commissioner?”
Jim looked at Danny’s shadow, it looked like he was straining his ears to try and hear what he was saying. Danny had given him almost nothing to work with. Just his name, that he’s never met Batman but needs to talk with him in person. But Jim was here because he listened to his gut. A feeling like when you see a random rock on your neighbor’s doorstep but you’d never go in without an invitation. A feeling like you know what’s in the present and are preparing your surprised face. A feeling like when you cheated on your wife and you know she knows.
“He looks like Bruce Wayne.”
A beat of silence. “What?”
“Danny looks exactly like Bruce when he was a teenager. Exactly the same.” Jim hoped Batman would get it, feel in his gut what Jim felt.
“And he wont say why he’s there?”
“No, and he demands to see you in person.”
“I’ll be there in an hour.”
“10-4.” The line cut off before Jim had finished saying it. He called Danny in again. “He’s on his way.”
Danny glared at him. “If he’s not, if you called some social worker or something, you’ll regret it.”
“I’m sure.” Jim sighed and downed the rest of his now cold coffee.
The sun hadn’t set, but only just barely. Jim ended up taking Danny up to the roof in the end after all, if only to save his window from being broken into. The kid had a red hoodie on, but he was still shivering in the autumn chill and it was just going to get colder by the minute as the sun made its way behind the horizon.
Jim checked his watch and, at exactly an hour from when he called, he acted surprised when Batman and Robin appeared out of nowhere. “Bats.”
“Commissioner.” Batman greeted but his eyes went straight for Danny. “Danny, I assume.”
“Yeah, I…” Danny hesitated, looking at Jim and Robin.
All it took was four words from Batman. “What do you need?”
The kid held out his hand with a flash drive in it. “I’m your clone. My par- The people who made me wanted to make a stronger version of you, but they got ahead of themselves. My DNA is degrading and I’ll die if I don’t get your DNA to stabilize me.”
Holy cow.
“You don’t expect us to believe that, do you?” Robin sneered at him.
“The flash drive has all the info on it. All the data about the cloning process and the, uh, relevant experiments after that.” Batman gave the kid a look. “I didn’t want to waste time on unnecessary data.”
“If what you’re saying is true, why are you here, alone? Are they working on a different solution?”
Danny’s shoulders hiked up. “I’ve been a failure for a while now, I’m not worth the resources and they’d learn more from an autopsy.”
Oof, kid. Jim looked at Batman who seemed to feel the same… if Jim was reading him right.
“So, you wont object to a DNA test?” Robin asked with a cocky head tilt, at least he was relatively easy to read.
“You can try.” Danny said, and then realized what that sounded like. “I mean I wont stop you, but my DNA degrades faster outside my body. You’ll have to take me to whatever lab you plan on using.”
“Then we will.” Batman said and jerked his head towards where they’d probably parked that ridiculous car of his. But then he looked at Jim with a nod. “Commissioner.”
“Batman.” Jim returned the nod. “You’ll tell me how things turn out, yeah?”
“I’ll give you a report.” Batman joked – Jim could tell, it was gut feeling.

The Brother Act
While I do greatly enjoy the ‘Dick was an ass in not believing Tim and taking Robin’ I have had a different thought.
As always, look not for Canon for it is not here…
Alfred, Dick, Barbara, and Tim have a special bond that the rest of the bats and birds do not really understand. The four of them were the ones who scraped Bruce off the floor and dragged him back to a healthier mindset after Jason’s death(Dick and Babs, lost in their own grief and issues, did come in a little later than Tim and Alfred, so they missed the absolute worst but still had to deal with some of the darkest moments of Batman’s grief).
After Bruce was lost in the Time steam, considered dead, these four sit together while Damian is at school. Tim tells them what he has found (circumstantial evidence that Bruce is still alive and lost in time). They believe him, there is no doubt that Tim is right, but they do not have proof. And the Justice League is already wary of Tim, primed by Tim’s reaction to Bart and Kon’s death (Look, this is very much a case of Gothamites are built different. Tim’s cloning attempts, where he does not even threaten other people AND makes provisions for any viable clones that do not turn out to be his friends-not that there were any but the were plans in place. Well, that is practically tame for Gotham, most Gothamites would have taken it as a sweet gesture, not madness).
It is clear. If Dick, as Batman, is seen supporting Tim in his ‘grief fueled madness’ then the Justice league will try to interfere in Gotham. And Gotham is built different. The Justice League do not understand Gotham and Cannot be allowed to interfere. Bruce would not want that.
So Batman cannot be seen supporting Tim. Even if Dick believes him.
They talk about Jason, who once Got Gotham the best out of any of them…but between his death and rebirth, the Pits, and his time away between Assassin training and the Outlaws he does not remember Gotham the way he thinks he does (shown by how he has forgotten that Batman cannot ever kill, that it is not Bruce that put that rule in place but Gotham herself). Gotham is still inscribed upon Jason’s bones though. He can heal enough to remember, to Get Gotham once again but it will take time. Alfred thinks that if Jason could remain on Gotham soil for three more consecutive months he would remember enough to stay until he healed all the way. Until then, though, they cannot fully trust him.
They also talk about Damian. How Damian is not connected to Gotham, not yet. Maybe if he had been there longer, he could have truly ‘Got’ Gotham before becoming Robin. But they do not have time for that. Tim points out that Damian would not accept Robin if he thinks Tim is giving it to him, but he would if Damian thought he was beating Tim in some way to get it. They saw that through the murder attempts (Which are not taken as seriously one would think. It’s not that the Bats and Birds believe that Gotham would keep them alive no matter what…but…it does always seem as though everything works out, no matter the odds. And Jason didn’t die until he was not on Gotham soil and eventually came back after being buried in Gotham-No one really knows how Jason was brought back, not for sure).
So Tim, Dick, Alfred, and Babs construct a very careful play. One devised to slip Damian into the Robin role, where he could grow connected to Gotham. One that gave Tim a reason to slip away, be gone so he could get proof that Bruce was still alive (because they would need the Justice Leagues resources). And all 4 sitting at the table were desperately trying to ignore that Tim had to leave Gotham, without backup, at least in the beginning (hoping that Jason would remember enough to be true backup later). Trying to ignore that the last time a Bat left Gotham without any kind of backup ended with Jason’s death. And Yes, Tim would always have Oracle in his ear but only on the unofficial channels that do not go anywhere near the JLA systems, but that is not the same as having actual backup.
And so time rolls on. Tim goes to search for Bruce, draws the attention of Ra’s Al Ghul, and does what was needed. Damian grows into Robin, and begins to get it, to get Gotham (One day, about 2 months before Tim returns, Damian turns to Dick and goes ‘Drake will succeed, right?’ without any context and Dick knew Damian finally Got Gotham). Jason did not spend the three consecutive months in Gotham until just before Bruce was brought back.
When Tim is vindicated by the JLA, he finds Bruce. Every non Bat (and to a small, and shrinking extent, Jason) expects Tim to be petty and pissy with Dick.Even after Dicks catch. Except that does not happen. Tim is pissy and petty with various members of the Justice League but not Dick (whom they think tried/threatened to throw Tim into Arkham-they have that on video).

heyyy can you talk about kons dating history or atleast with older women? ive seen a few posts but im not sure but thats so ://///
Ahhh yes. Kon’s dating history, I've finally now finished reading all his solo comics (and had already gone through his team books a while back) so it’s a perfect time to delve into this. I’m kinda broadening it to his love interests in general, as not all of them put an official ‘dating’ label on things, but are still worth bringing up. This is kinda long so sorry in advance about that, but I tried to be as brief as possible.
TW for pedophilia (in these specific cases discussing a 23 year old dating a 16 year old, and another woman without a specifically given age [but clearly an adult] with the same 16 year old) obviously i’m not talking about it positively here but it’s unfortunately necessary to discuss with this topic.
I consider Kon as having five primary love interests in the pre-reboot comics world, which is where most of his dating happened. The ‘criteria’ I guess i’m using to separate them from the others i’ll talk about after is a combination of ‘they interacted for a long time’ and/or ‘the relationship had a big impact on his story/him as a person’.
I’m also mainly sticking in pre-New 52 world for this because aside from the 'fake married to Lophi to protect her and her kid on Gemworld' thing in Young Justice 2019, he hasn't done much with relationships since getting officially reintroduced. Then the New 52 version of Kon was a very separate person and even so he was mainly just (sorta) involved with Cassie.
ANYWAYS the main five are:
Tana Moon - Tana was a 23 year old (as stated in Superboy #32) reporter Kon initially met during Reign of the Supermen, the story he debuted in (meaning she was one of the first people he met), who also happened to move back to Hawaii around the time he ended up there on his press tour. The two of them had an on and off relationship from basically the start of the comic until she broke up with him in Superboy #46. She briefly came back into his life in Superboy #72 after having been kidnapped by The Agenda, before being killed by Amanda Spence in Superboy #74. Kon and several others refer to her as his ‘first love’ especially after her death, which weighed very heavily on him.
Knockout/Kay - A woman we find out was originally one of the Female Furies, who works as a stripper at the 'Boom Boom Room’ in Hawaii while trying to keep a low-profile after leaving Apokolips. We don't get an exact age for her but she's very much so implied to be an adult. She hits on Kon from the moment she meets him (she also quite literally uses the term ‘jailbait’ to describe him in her first appearance in Superboy #1) and kisses him several times, insisting on working with him and training him and eventually beginning a more formal relationship with him. She kills someone and he blindly defends her thinking she couldn’t have done it, and she tries to coerce him into killing someone by promising herself to him (before killing the guy herself when Kon wouldn’t do it). The arc mainly focused on their relationship is from Superboy #22-30, but she is a presence in the comic from the start. She is arrested for the murders she committed at the end of the arc, and doesn't interact with Kon much again after as she is in a high security prison, but she is referenced multiple times.
Roxy Leech - Roxy is the daughter of Rex Leech, Kon's agent. From the moment she meets Kon, also during Reign of the Supermen like Tana, she's got a thing for him. Her age is left a bit more unclear, as some bits of dialogue indicate she is actually close to Kon's age but other things like how she applies to the police academy, something you need to be like 20 to do, indicate she's a bit older. Regardless, she’s definitely younger than Tana as she comments on her age at least once. She actively dislikes both Tana and Knockout for being interested in Kon, and confesses her feelings to him during a 'the whole world might end tonight' situation (in Superboy #33). The two of them didn't really date, but there is a period of time where Kon feels torn between Tana and Roxy. Not too long after that she ends up volunteering herself to be used in a procedure to stabilize Kon's dna after it had been torn apart by The Agenda when they cloned him, as the method to save him required someone close in age to him be used as a genetic template. From that point on they considered each other more like siblings, ending the romantic aspect of their relationship (in Superboy #41)
Serling Roquette - Serling is a 16 year old (as first stated in Superboy #57) science prodigy who works in the genetics department of Cadmus, and is the person who manages to cure Kon's condition where he'd been stuck at age 16 (a side effect from the procedure with Roxy). Initially she had a crush on Guardian, but over time grew to like Kon, she was one of the first people at Cadmus he personally tells his name ‘Kon-El’ to. They only kinda start to get together before Tana comes back and then is killed. After a situation where Roxy came back and needed help, when he and Serling try to maybe pick things up again, Kon realizes Tana’s death is still too fresh for him to get involved in anything too serious with her and he breaks it off, leaving them very tense with one another. (Superboy #82)
Wonder Girl/Cassie Sandsmark - Cassie had an interest in Kon before she even met him, more of a celebrity crush at first than anything else. They share their first kiss in Wonder Woman #153 after she had tried to change her look to impress him and he reassured her that she was already beautiful the way she is. Cassie was present for Tana's death in Superboy #74, and after that Kon is overly protective of her in a noticeable way that actively annoyed her (She points out to him that she can take care of herself a few times, like in Young Justice #29) but eventually at the end of Young Justice (in #55) he confesses feelings for her, and they share another kiss. Graduation Day bringing about the end of Young Justice as a team kinda throws a wrench in things, but early in Teen Titans Vol. 3 they begin to date more formally, and are getting pretty serious together (cough cough they uhh consummate their relationship in the Kent farm's barn in TT Annual #1) right before Kon is killed during Infinite Crisis. She takes his death very badly and joins a cult to try to bring him back, has her whole thing with Tim (who is coping equally poorly with the death... almost 100 cloning attempts babey), and befriends Kara as a surrogate Teen Kryptonian™, but eventually learns to accept what happened and move on. Then he comes back, and everything's a lot to process all over again. She had become the team leader and things were just different than they used to be. They tried to resume their relationship but eventually Kon decided to end it (Teen Titans Vol. 3 #91), because they both wanted different things at that point in their lives, but they remained friends and teammates.
So when people are talking about the ‘older women’ thing, it should be pretty clear from that list they’re talking about Tana and Knockout. Both were adult women dating a 16 year old boy, and neither situation did enough to handle it in a way that addressed it as the problem it was. Knockout’s situation did end up being seen as a bad thing by the end because of the murder parts at the very least, but the age difference didn’t come up nearly as much. With Tana a few people (Roxy, some of Tana’s coworkers, even Tana herself) did bring up the age difference as a potential problem, but they continued to stay together for a pretty long time regardless. The kicker is that she ultimately breaks up with him for being ‘immature’ after he gets stuck at age 16, when it’s like... he’s 16. You’re 23. No kidding you think he’s immature? It was just a whole mess and makes reading a lot of his solo incredibly uncomfortable.
Additionally he has a few other shorter-lived relationships/potential love interests. I’m categorizing them separately because they weren’t focused on in the same ways/for as much time as the girls I listed above:
Trixie (Superboy #94-100) - When Kon gets his own apartment in Suicide Slum, he repeatedly runs into Trixie and the rest of the Slaughterhouse Six, but Superboy inspires her to try to turn her life around. They didn’t formally date but that was definitely the direction things were starting to head towards before his apartment building blew up and he realized he needed to get away from the city where his presence was painting a target on innocent people, and so they decided to just be friends. (This was also when his solo ended, so possibly if the book hadn’t been ending they may have continued longer)
Batgirl/Cassandra Cain (Superboy #85, Batgirl #39-41) - They first met when Kon had been bugging Tim in Gotham, and had a little adventure together that resulted in Batman being PISSED because he didn’t want Cass interacting with Metas (especially not teenage boy ones that’ll flirt with her) and Kon volunteered to share her punishment so she didn’t have to do it alone. They later meet again shortly after Kon moved in with the Kents while on a cruise (and he’s her first kiss!) and afterwards she goes to Smallville to meet him. She’s actually like the first person outside the Kents we’re shown to know his new civilian name is ‘Conner Kent’. After their little attempt at a date they decide to just stay friends.
Lori Luthor (Various appearances with Kon in Adventure Comics (2009) & Superboy Vol. 5) - When Kon and Lori initially meet there’s definitely some interest and she kisses him, but it happens while he’s still dating Cassie so he makes it clear he’s unavailable. Afterwards he learns who she actually is and realizes ‘oh she’s sorta kinda my cousin on the Luthor side’ so he stops really being interested. She’s still interested because she feels like the cloning doesn’t make them really related, and they talk about it in Superboy Vol. 5 #4 after he and Cassie had broken up, but he still feels too raw from Cassie and too weirded out by the situation to have it go anywhere. Kon helps try to get Lex to cure Lori’s mom (Lex’s sister Lena), and eventually when Lex is an ass in the end he finds another way (Some Wayne money through Tim) to try to help her. Lori figures out Conner is Superboy and along with Simon and Sujan helps him to save Smallville from the Hollow Men.
Ravager/Rose Wilson (Teen Titans Vol. 3 #95-100, kinda some parts of Superboy Vol. 6 if ya squint) - This is another of those ‘they didn’t actually date but there was interest’ situations, in the very end of Teen Titans Vol. 3. A fake version of Rose had kissed Kon which was kinda the catalyst for it, where after that moment he became a bit more protective of her once the real her returned. They had a moment where Kon tried to trust her with something (Kryptonite to take him down if the situation arose) but she saw it more as him thinking she was the one ruthless enough to do it, rather than as a token of trust, and left upset. The reboot happened before this really went anywhere/got resolved though, but interestingly enough she became a bit of a support character in the New 52 version of Kon’s life, likely because of this connection they tried to do before the reboot. They never really dated there either, he just referred to her as cute a few times. New 52 Kon is a very separate person anyways, but it’s worth mentioning.
I might be forgetting a few other minor ones along the way (especially if there’s things that weren’t in his main books), and Kon (especially in the 90′s) was the kind of guy to flirt with pretty much every girl he saw, so bear that in mind. But yeah, I hope this helps!

“This place always felt too big. If he was being honest with himself, he didn’t really understand it. The cave was, in some ways, unfamiliar territory. Foreign country. He doesn't understand why Bruce is held to the regard he is in Damian's mind, and why it means so much to Dick that Damian's happy. Dick also thinks about Bruce, and how he fits into the puzzle that Dick calls their life.

“Damian Wayne did not anticipate going into the mission that he'd find himself in an alternate universe where his father is still Batman and there's an eerily similar (but thirteen year old) version of his partner/mentor/guardian/brother? who has somehow managed to find himself another pack of incompetent superhero associates just as intensely irritating as the ones Damian's familiar with and borderline suspects him of being an illegal Cadmus clone but...
...well...
...sometimes life just plays out like that. And he'll be damned if he doesn't find a way home to his actual partner before he manages to impale himself on his own cowl or something equally ridiculous. Honestly.

---
At first, it had seemed to be a good idea. Take Tim with him to do groceries shopping. Let him pick whatever he wanted, what he had missed. But seeing Tim pull another bag of candy into the cart made him regret his decisions. Part of him hoped that this wasn't what Tim usually ate, that he was just going for that junk because he had lacked food when he was... away. But Damian suspected that it was just what the other considered food. He was quite appalled. He knew that Tim wasn't the best cook. But that! Damian was quite horrified. Good thing that Tim had him now.
Damian had to restrain himself for throwing it all. Who could have imagined that courting would be so hard? Maybe he should invite Bart too. He was Tim's friend as well and a speedster. He would make all this junk disappear in a matter of seconds then he would show Tim what real meals were like and how amazing he was at making them. Damian pulled out his phone to tape a quick text to Conner, one eye still on Tim. He was still so scared of losing him. His heart had jumped in his chest when he had lost sight of him earlier. Tim hadn't been far, just in the next aisle. But still, Damian preferred to have him where he could see as much as possible. Tim had been taken away from him once. It could happen again. For all he knew, the ones that had taken Tim in the first place might want him back. There was no certainty that Tim was safe, that they would leave him alone. And Damian wasn't going to let that happen again.
He quickly caught up to Tim, receiving a little smile when he asked if he wanted anything else or if he was ready to leave. Tim was oblivious to Damian's feeling, his fear of having Tim disappear once again. He was just enjoying being back in Gotham. Being free after all this time. Because even if it had not been years but weeks for Tim, it was still a long time being prisoner.
***
Preparing lunch didn't take long considering there wasn't much cooking to do. It was good working in tandem with Tim even for such a simple, domestic task. That not something Damian had imagined he would be doing. He had shared a few nights with other people. Nameless people, he knew nothing of. He had not cared to create a romantic connection with anyone. It was kind of illogical. He had loved Tim, but they had never been together. Most people had seen his feelings for Tim as a simple crush, then they had seen it as an unhealthy obsession. And maybe they had been right. He had been a kid back then. He had started to spend time with Tim had the end, had started to know him. But that wasn't enough to form a true relationship. He could admit to himself that he had been born on a childish caprice. Thing is, Damian never had closure. He was given hope that one day he would have the chance to prove himself worthy of Tim's attention. Maybe, in the end, Tim wouldn't have been able to return his love. Maybe Damian would have grown out of his infatuation for the Omega. There was no way of knowing what might have happened. Damian never got his opportunity. All he could do was wonder "what if?". That thought had held him back for years. Now he would get his chance. He would take his chance with Tim. Whether or not he would be successful didn't matter. Well, it did matter a bit. But Damian could accept not getting him if that choice was theirs and not the outcome of outside forces.
For Tim to make a choice about their future, he first needed to get his life back. Damian didn't want to share his return with the family quite yet. He was still mad at them. It didn't stop him from knowing that it needed to happen. He couldn't keep Tim locked up in their apartment. Of course, Tim would end up attracted by Damian if it was only the two of them. Whatever had happened to Tim had been traumatizing. Damian had been the first familiar face he had seen in weeks, the first safe place he had found. If he kept Tim away from the other, the Omega would become dependant of him. No matter how much he desired him, that wasn't the way he wanted to get him.
He was informed of Tim's friends arrival just a minute before they were at the door. He had put a satellite in place to inform him of their movement. Tim was excited to see them. They were his friends after all, but Damian could tell that he was also anxious. He had preferred being warned in advance and not have them suddenly banging on the door.
Tim's hands had started trembling when Damian had told him they were almost here. The youngest Robin had taken them into his own, gently squeezing his hands to make him understand that he was here for him.
"I will get it" Damian let go of Tim when the doorbell rang, maintaining eye contact as long as possible before turning to his guests.
Kon was here with Bart as well as Cassie. Damian hadn't thought of inviting her. He hadn't wanted to crowd Tim with multiple people from the start. The invitation to Bart was solely for the junk food that needed to disappear. He should have guessed that it would have been hard to have the two of them without her tagging along. Not that he minded her company, he just hoped that it wouldn't feel overwhelming to Tim. Maybe that would prepare him for their family.
"Damian", they saluted him, "so why did you needed us here?"
"I don't need you. He does." Damian made a vague motion behind him even if they could not see Tim from the threshold.
Conner was confused. He had not expected anyone else to be here. Damian didn't hang out with that many people. He had made some friends within the Titans but most of the time he was the one that came to see them. When he was in Gotham, he was either alone or with his family. Kon didn't imagine that Batman was waiting in the living room. Damian would have rather went to the manor than invite him over. It was way too calm for Dick and his daughter to be here. But there was someone here. Now that Damian had said that he wasn't alone, Kon could clearly hear another heartbeat not far away. One that seemed oddly familiar. One that brought back memories from years ago.
Kon rushed past Damian without a word, leaving his flabbergasted friends in his wake. In less than a second, Kon stood before Tim. Or someone that looked exactly like him at least. But it couldn't be. Tim was dead.
Kon knew that Tim had tried to clone him when he had died. Maybe he had kept trace of his works and Damian had found them. Kon knew what Tim had meant to Damian. The youngest Robin had never seemed to grow past his lost. He had never heard of him dating. Yes, he had a few flings. But one night stands weren't close to a relationship. Maybe Damian had broken down and decided to create a new Tim.
But as he was thinking about that, some part of him couldn't shake the feeling that this was the real Tim. He knew one or two things about clones. He had learned to recognize them. One of the easiest ways was listening to the heartbeat. That not something you could simply replicate. You could learn, but it was a long process. And, unless Damian had records about the rhythm of Tim's heartbeats, he would not have been able to get it right just by pure luck.
They were used to people coming back to life. Him. Bart. Damian. But six years was a long time. And the man before him didn't look older than the last time he had seen him. He had not been raised from the dead and waited years to return to Gotham.
Yet, somehow, this was Tim standing before him.
Kon didn't waste another second before pulling him into a bone-crushing hug.
"I may be civil to you now, Superboy, but if you hurt him when he has just come back to me, I will make you chock on kryptonite."
Kon released a bit of the pressure he had put on Tim, apologizing quietly to his friend.
"What the fuck?" Cassie nearly yelled. She and Bart had been following Damian into the room. They hadn't been able to get a clear look on who Kon was hugging, the other person almost disappearing under Kon's form.
They hadn't known why Damian had asked for them. Kon's reaction had raised even more questions. They hadn't known what to expect. But Tim wouldn't have been their first idea. Nor the tenth.
Bart and Cassie hadn't been exactly enthused to answer Damian's invitation. Yes, he was somehow civil now, but he had yet to be anything close to friendly to them. They were glad that Kon had convinced them to come. This was the best surprise they had had in forever!
For a long time, none of them said anything, simply joining in the hug while Damian watched from a few feet away. Bart was the first to pull away.
"Have you always been this short? I don't remember you being that much tiny. But I was shorter back then. Probably why I didn't notice. Wow, and look at this babyface. You are so cute. How come I never noticed you were so cute." Bart was gushing, even attempting to pinch Tim's cheeks.
"I am not cute" Tim spluttered, offended. He had always been one of the shortest in the family. He was roughly the same size as Cass and taller than Damian. But Damian had been 12 years old, so he hadn't meant much. It was expected that Damian would grow but Tim had thought he would too. He knew he would never have the same bulk that Bruce and Jason had, but he could have hope for a late growth spurt. Seemed like Bart had had one. Cassie too, even if on a smaller scale. They had all been teens the last time he had seen them. While he was still one, his friends had grown into adults. He had missed so much.
"Hey, are you okay Tim?" Cassie asked him gently.
"Yeah. I'm happy to see you guys." He smiled faintly. He couldn't quite hide his sadness. He should have aged with his friend. Experience the start of adulthood with them. How many things had he missed in their lives? They would probably tell him everything but he would never get to experience them, and that hurt.
"Ow, Tim. We are so happy to have you back." Cassie smiled at him.
"Yeah, especially if you want back in the team. Imagine, with his adorableness, villains will stop fighting right away. Make our jobs easier." Bart joked.
Tim gripped his arm and threw him on the grounds.
"I see why you would need an easier job, you're getting slow kid flash." Tim teased him, earning laughs from his former team and a proud smile from Damian. He may not have returned at his highest form, but he could still kick some ass.

REGARDING DAMIAN & DICK (and some other related things)
TW: depression, TW: suicidal thoughts
Ok, this is going to be partly canon and partly my own analysis of what I’ve read/seen in the comics.
I’ve read quite a few posts, both here and on other places regarding Tim and his views on the relationship between Damian and Dick. A lot of it, I haven’t agreed with and I thought I’d write a little about my own views and interpretations.
Some claim that Tim’s reaction when Dick announce that he’s taking Damian as his Robin is based on jealousy and rivalry, however, I disagree (even if jealousy is there at times, although imo it’s not the main reason in this case). Tim had lost many people, including his dad, the last year and a half or so when this happened and it’s hinted that he even was suicidal or at the least deeply depressed before Bruce ‘died’. His desperation could also be seen in his attempt to clone Kon.
(Tim had just stopped this guy from jumping off a building and he asked if things got bad for them, as in heroes, too and you get to see Tim’s ghosts. The issue ends with Tim calling Dick to talk and also showing the number to a suicide prevention line.)
Anyway, having lost so much, his last stable part was being Robin and it was also his last connection to Bruce, presumed dead at the time. Dick had also promised him that everything would be okay and Tim most likely thought that if Dick was to make any changes, he’d talk to Tim first. Instead he just pulled the rug from underneath his feet. He’s not angry because he thinks he deserve the role of Robin more than Damian, he’s not jealous at him being Robin. Tim wouldn’t mind to eventually hand over the mantel to Damian, but he was just not prepared for this. Not after everything that had happened, not when it was his last ‘anchor’. He thought Dick understood that, but apparently he didn’t and to him it felt like betrayal, a kick straight to the chest. To Dick’s defense, he most likely didn’t understand how broken Tim felt at the time and he also wanted to help Damian, which he knew had to be hurting even if he wouldn’t say so. Tim do get Dick’s decision once he calmed down, but that didn’t mean it hurt less. Especially since he thought Dick understood him. And yes, I am aware that Tim pushed Dick to take over the cowl and become Batman. However, in the end, Dick still choose to do that. Tim had no choice in the matter of being or not being Robin.
Now to Damian and Dick being close. Once again I’ve seen people saying that part of Tim’s dislike for Damian is because he’s jealous of him taking Dick away from him. Sure, thoughts of a jealous nature have occurred, though more in the style of ‘of course he’ll focus more on/like Damian better, he’s Wayne by blood’ and so on (which is the only reason Tim can think of to why he had to fight and earn his respect and love while Damian just gets it).
Contrary to what some believe, he’s glad Damian has Dick (even if he wish he had him too). If anyone would be able to tame the demon brat, it’s Dick. In Tim’s eyes, Dick is good for everyone. Yes, Dick hurt him, but he still can’t help but admire him, even though he’s also angry at him. Same with Damian, he and the gremlin has a very tense relationship, but that doesn’t mean Tim wants him any harm. He doesn’t love Damian, yet, but he doesn’t hate him either and he knows how important the boy is to Dick, Bruce and Alfred, so he does his best to be civilized for their sake. Yes, he does get that Damian had a horrible upbringing, but being nearly killed during your first encounter(s) with someone tend to colour things in a certain way (especially since he also assumed he’d hurt Alfred in some way, though it turned out he only locked him inside a room) and I think we can all agree that Damian can be hard to like. Tim is trying (as I know Damian is too, even if Tim is sure Dami wants him dead and gone, at least sometimes).
Unfortunately, he knows the brat can hit on his nerves more easily than anyone else, which is why he tries to avoid him, which unfortunately also means avoiding the rest of the family too. Which make it seem like he pushed them away, making him even lonelier than he was before. Because that’s one of the big things too, loneliness. Tim has a special way of thinking: logical, analytical, but still caring. In many ways, he is similar to Bruce, though he’s not fully as.... emotionally constipated and not as hmm... neat freak-y (there’s ofc other differences too) and he isn’t always very easy to understand and not always as good at sharing his innermost feelings and thoughts, making him feel lonely (even if that might not be the case). Though the fact that no one believed him adds to it too. He isn't one to just jump the fence and although he didn't voice it well, I think they should've had more faith in him. Instead, everyone was pretty much calling him crazy, telling him it was all just grief and in his head instead of properly listening (although some therapy would’ve been good for him).
Okay, I feel like I’m rambling now and that I still can’t really get out everything I want to say. I might add to this post later on (or just write another one more about what's going on during RR), but all in all, Tim is not straight out jealous of Damian, it’s a bit more complicated than that. He doesn’t really like him (yet), but he still wants him well. Now, if Damian could just stop trying to stab him, Tim would be overjoyed. (That’s a joke btw)
As for Dick, he still loves him, even if he's hurt too. Their relationship has a few cracks that needs to be mended, but it's not beyond repair. And although I personally think Dick should've handled things better (and remember that Tim is technically a kid too), I do understand his decision and he was grieving too (and Tim wasn’t easy to be around then either). However, Tim isn't the most open one, but considering how close they were, he should as least have talked to him before taking Robin from Tim and given it to Damian (although Alfred shouldn’t have handed Dami the Robin suit without talking to the others either). And in rambling again. I'll definitely stop now.

Face the Music - Part 4
Waking up tied to a chair, with the people you once called family standing around you is not the way you had wanted this assignment to go.
“Good, you’re awake”
“Fuck off, Bruce. So this is what you’ve resorted to? Drugging your own daughter and tying her to a chair?”
Damian steps forward, sometimes you think his face has frozen permanently into a sneer, “Do not talk to father that way, harlot. I told him that we should have killed you on the docks, left a message for the League”
You grin, “Oh you’ve left a message! Mother already knows that you’ve turned this into a hostage situation. She’s on her way!!”
Your twin scoffs, “Do you really think that you’re that important?”
“I am to her. I may have been ignored and treated like a no-body while I was here, but at the League I have a purpose”
Conner looks hurt by your words, “You mattered to me, Y/N”
“I mattered to you?! Is that why you didn’t come to visit me like you promised?!? Is that why I never once heard from you in SIX YEARS!?!?!? How much could I have mattered to you, Kon, if you couldn’t even put in the effort to figure out where I had disappeared to?!” You let out a soft chuckle, “You know I kept an eye on you while I was training. I mean, who did you think was the one to check on Martha and take care of the farm when you and Clark were busy, the one to cover you in the middle of a battle, the one to leave you letters? Did you think all those things just happened?”
His eyes widen, mouth dropping open in shock, “I – I …”
“I loved you, Conner. You were my best friend, my only friend really, and I loved you with everything I had.” You let out a self-deprecating chuckle, “I guess it’s a good thing you broke my heart. When you’re an empty shell, nothing can hurt you anymore”
“Y/N …”
“I’d like to go to sleep now, Bruce. If you wouldn’t mind that is, I mean if you have a schedule you have to keep, be my guest. But you won’t be getting anything else from me tonight”
Your father pushes a button, and the uncomfortable chair stretches into a steel slab. “I’ll get you a blanket, but you’re staying here tonight”
“I’ve slept on worse”
--
You manage to sleep on and off until about 2 AM, that’s when your twin brother decides to pay you a visit.
“I hate you”
“Save it for someone who cares, brat”
Damian snarls, “You’ve been nothing but a burden all your life. When will you finally just leave us alone?”
Twisting your wrists nervously, you try and shift as far away from Damian as you can, “I tried to leave, father wouldn’t let me. Unlock the cuffs, Dami. Let me go, I’ll leave and never return to Gotham, you’ll never see me again”
“I could do that, yes. Or I could just kill you now. It would be so easy ...” He picks up your own dagger, permanently infused with a poison that will leave the body writhing in agony until death, “I could do what was meant to be done all those years ago …”
“It would not be honorable to kill me while I am unarmed!!”
Damian smirks, “I care not about honor, sister, just your death” The dagger rises, poised over your abdomen. Damian intends to make you live a while, in complete agony, until either the pain or the blood loss kills you.
“Damian”
Your brother freezes, knife still poised over you. “Mother?”
Talia al Ghul steps out of the shadows, several other League members behind her, “Damian, my son, I would suggest putting down the dagger. I would hate to hurt you”
“You would choose her over me?!?!”
“Y/N is my daughter, she is also Heiress of the Demon, she also has a Kryptonian who would seek revenge for her death. Do you want to risk that, my son?”
Damian snarls, but tosses the knife to the side, and presses the locking mechanism to release you from the table. Jax, one of your personal guards when at the Compound, steps forward, handing you the discarded knife, “Thank you”
Talia slowly steps forward, checking you for injuries, before pressing her forehead against yours, “Did they hurt you?”
“No, I was drugged, but not injured”
“Good” She turns and reaches out for your brother, drawing him into a brief hug, “While I have missed you a great deal, my son, I am disappointed in your actions. Trying to kill your sister while she cannot defend herself. Has your father taught you nothing of honor?”
“I’m sorry, mother”
Talia sniffs, unimpressed, “Bring out the others, it is past time to have a ‘family meeting’. I am quite tired of my beloved’s antics” Several League members step forward, guiding your father and brothers forward. “Where is the Kryptonian?”
“We had to use kryptonite to subdue him, mistress”
Four League members are carrying Conner, who’s covered in sweat, and limp. Shocked, you quickly bark out orders, “Put him on the table, and get that away from him!” Once he’s on the table, you gently brush the hair off his forehead, “If he’s hurt, I’ll kill you all. Understand?”
“Yes, mistress”
Slowly Kon’s eyes clear, a dopey smile splits his face when he sees your face hovering over his, “Y/N …”
“Are you alright?”
He slowly sits up, “A little dizzy, but I’m fine” Finally taking in the various assassins surrounding everyone, he glances back at you, “Um … what’s going on?”
“It’s time to sit down and talk about the treatment of my children. And you, Mr. Kent, my daughter seems quite infatuated with you, skipping lessons to see you, traveling across the world to leave notes and ensure your safety. I’d like to know your intentions toward her”
“We – we spent a lot of time together before she left. She was my best friend, and … and I thought I loved her, was gonna ask her on a date, but she was already gone by the time I got the courage to go to her”
Talia hums softly, “And you never searched for her? You obviously didn’t care enough about Y/N to find her, to fight for her”
“Bruce told me she was dead!! And I did search! For the first two years she was gone I searched! Eventually Bruce told me that she committed suicide! We had a funeral! It was Y/N’s body in that box!!” Kon looks shaken when he turns tortured blue eyes to you, “When I first saw you in the warehouse I didn’t believe it. I took the injection and used it on you because I thought you were some kind of clone, and I – I was so angry that the League would do that to you. But – but even if you were a clone I still couldn’t hurt you, not really”
Tears slowly drip down Conner’s face, he … he looks so much older now. No longer the teenager you left behind, but a man who thought he buried you, “I’m sorry, Kon. I didn’t know they told you I was dead, I would have left some kind of clue if I did” You pull Conner into a tight hug, letting him cling to you as he trembles.
Talia turns, facing your father, “Really, Beloved? You had a funeral for our daughter and didn’t even invite me?”
Jax takes great pleasure in ripping the gag off Bruce’s face to let him speak. “I didn’t know what to tell the press, it made the most sense …”
“That is where you are wrong, Beloved. What would have made sense was to tell the media that Y/N was away visiting her mother, and was traveling the world. Instead you claim that she is dead, completely stop trying to see her after only one failed attempt, and you continue your lives like Y/N never existed. Does that sum up what you did?”
“Mother …”
“Quiet, Damian. I haven’t even begun to speak of what you did. You would belittle her, claim that she was useless, and a burden, claim that I made a mistake in letting her live. You were wrong on all accounts. I never intended to kill my daughter, Ra’s had made plans to kill her, but once he was dead those plans were changed. I always saw the potential in your sister, but I was not allowed to act on it until I became the Demon Head” Talia’s lip lifts in a sneer, “She has done more for the League than you ever could have done, Damian, and what do you do? You try to kill her while she is tied down, and defenseless”
“You all claimed that I was brainwashed by the League. Did you ever think that I enjoy being a part of the organization? That, because they treat me like a human being and not some annoying pet, that I am loyal to them? You all rejected me as your family, would only claim me when it was convenient for you, but they … they truly saw me for who I was. Was it really so shocking to see me happy that you thought I was brainwashed?”
“Y/N …”
“No, Bruce. You were never a father to me, and Damian you were never a brother. Jason, Dick, and Tim were never around enough to know what was really going on, or to get to know me. I have friends, family, a purpose at the League, and that is where I intend to stay.”
Your mother runs her fingers through Bruce’s hair, fisting it and forcing him to look in her eyes, “I will leave my son with you because you have already turned him against me. Y/N will be coming back to the Compound with me, to continue her training. I will permit you to send letters to her, if any of you so desire” Releasing Bruce, she turns to face Conner, “You now have a choice. You can stay here, perhaps send Y/N letters if you remember her, or you can come with us. I will not force you to join the League, as you are not an Assassin, however you will be in an alliance with us. You will live at the Compound, and have the freedom to come and go as you please.” Talia steps toward you, slowly melting into the dark shadows that fill the cave, “I will give you one week to decide, Connor Kent. I suggest you choose wisely.”
With another gesture the rest of the League members begin to disappear, one by one slipping into the darkness, until no one is left but four tied up vigilantes, and one Kryptonian. Kon has a choice to make, now the true question is, will his decision be the right one?
WHAT WILL HIS DECISION BE?!?!?!?!!??!
