dip pen ink comm batch 4 complete! for Ezechiel, @ohwwhuv, and Leo :]
#bakuspecial#commission art#the grayscale for these were done on a train with my laptop track pad fksdjhf it was! manageable! but not desirable condition#that was before I got my new current tablet too... thank you my old huion. you served me well. Im so sorry I chipped ur paint to shit#ngl the texture on the new one's better off the bat. the grip's better and it has good kinetic feedback#too bad abt the touch buttons tho... I was confident I could make use of them but alas#things need actual feelable buttons again please I can Not tell where anything is when Im drawing and cant look at the tablet#my eyes are on the screen!! Im bad at gauging distance!!! please give me buttons I can find in the dark. please#even the old huion which has actual buttons I still couldnt use them. bc theyre not raised#theyre flat to the tablet's surface. you know what I shouldve tacked raised stickers on them I was stupid there#well! the more u learn. the more u learn#I'm happy with the current tablet tho!! buttons stuff aside it's nice to draw on. and thats what important. wrists dont hurt no more#almost said ''I miss the wacom eraser end" I don't. not really. every time I used that thang I was like wow you are so imprecise and blunt#litcherally why would you want basically a mappable stylus end but it's 50 times the size of a normal nib and you cant see where ur drawing#especially on a screen tablet. the dynamic there makes absolutely no sense#I can really do the same thing now by mapping one of the stylus buttons to swap foreground color to transparency#anyways. this has been my testimonies on tablets. in the tags of a dip pen ink post lmao#well! this is a late post I shouldve posted this before art fight. thank u again to that anon who reminded me#have a good day lads! we can answer emails together. hands in professional hands

Momo, Mimi, either is fine. Jojo and I share two braincells. We are connected. 🥴 🤞🏾✨️
And I see! So that's what happened. Hmmm, it definitely takes some getting used to in order to transfer from traditional to digital, but latency issues that bad shouldn't be one of the problems you experience. Although sometimes tablets can be finicky! It may have been a driver issue, like it needed an update. 🤔 If you ever want to try a tablet again and don't have your old ones, I love using huion tablets. You can get a version without a screen for cheap. It's what I use! Although it takes some time getting used to also because you have to keep your eyes on the screen while drawing but I'm sure you'll get used to that. Ultimately it just takes some time to feel comfortable, there is a learning curve but there are pros to using a digital art device, I feel. If you ever try again and need tips or advice, I'm here!! 🤗💕
Also tbh I wouldn't mind entering giveaways for you! I love entering those. I wouldn't consider it a hassle at all and ClipStudio Paint often has tablet giveaways going on that I enter. ✨️ [also you should def start with free art software while you're getting used to digital art but I love Clipstudio paint and think it's a wonderful investment. They often have sales for their software too. Cx they have software tiers and some are put off by the subscription model but they also have a perpetual license version that you can update at your leisure.]
I suppose you could also consider Apple/Android products but I personally prefer actual art tablets. Maybe I've just not found a good one yet [they're expensive!] But I didn't like the feel of the stylus or how the tablet reacted to my hands. Like, it would react to my touch. The art tablets I used didn't have that problem. But Apple/Android tablets are so lightweight, portable and don't need a laptop/pc/phone to use so that's an upside.
But other people who use tablets feel free to jump in and offer tips if you have them!
Hi Myell! Question: What do you think of drawing on a tablet? I was curious since I always see you draw traditionally. Also, I'm asking because if interested, I'll def enter those tablet giveaways for you. 🤗
'Morning Momo! 🩵☀️ Bruh I wrote Mimi I'm so sleepy I'm sorry
I've actually had two different tablets gifted to me, and I did try to draw on them, but... Things never clicked? I didn't like how delayed the input was between me touching the tablet and the line to appear on the screen. I don't know if it was an issue with the cheap hardware, with the program (I don't even remember what it was, Black Ink ???) or just a matter of me getting used to it, but it just made me feel so slow, like I was drawing in a jar of honey.
I didn't have any sort of tutorial, and of course things aren't going to work out 100%, but I guess I still got a little convinced I'm absolutely terrible at digital art ^^;
It's not that I wouldn't want to learn how to draw digitally, there are so many upsides to it! I'm just COMPLETELY lost on where to begin. You're so sweet for offering to enter giveaways for me, but I wouldn't want you to go through all that hassle just for me 😖😖 if you or anyone else did have tips on how I could get myself started though, I'd really appreciate it!

NGL
Coming out of hiatus to say that I wish you all a wonderful and safe happy new years! I took some L's today both financially, physically and spiritually- but what is your New Year's resolution?
Personally, I've got a ton but at the top of the list is re-connecting with my older art style and giving it 100% because ngl I feel like my earlier art used to go harder than the ones I'm releasing now? My stylus is partially broken tho ngl and that makes it frustrating to draw backgrounds and detail- but as soon as I get it fixed I know what I'm gonna do!

Spiralbound Jabberblocky
This is my concept for a weapon (and a new weapon class) for Splatoon! It's inspired by a spiralbound notebook and ballpoint pen! The weapons works as a sword/rapier and shield combo!
Basic controls for the Jabberblocky weapon class: ZR tap = Shield bash. (It's like a horisontal roller flick in range, spread shot instead of long range) ZR hold = Shield bash + the shield is deployed (Like when you deploy a brella, it shoots ink first and then makes a shield that also inks the ground. Shield is maybe on par with undercover brella hitbox, maybe somewhat skinnier. The shield always stays with you, doesn't shoot away!) ZR hold + B + directional input = Accurate sword jab + player lunges forward (like a charged Splatana attack, but the sword isn't swung. It's thrust forward!) B + ZR = Inaccurate sword jab (Works like vertical roller flick, long range instead of spread shot. Has the same property as Shooters, Blasters, Dualies and Splatlings, with the projectile(s) being less accurate when jumping) B + ZR + directional input = Inaccurate sword jab + player lunges forward
Tumblr media
So yeah, its like a Roller, Splatana and Brella blended into one. What it might gain in versatility is maybe balanced out by the shields and damage being more middlin. The hitboxes for the shield and ink attacks being smaller on average than their more specialized counterparts might make up for it??? Idk, I'm not great at balancing.
Ideas for future Jabberblockys: (under the cut)
Silly Slush Jabberblocky - The shield is based a slushy cup with a colorful slushy. (When you run out of ink/the shield is destroyed, the cup will look empty. Also inspired by the curved roman shields!) The sword/rapier is based on a silly/crazy straw! (The ink pattern it leaves can be wacky! Maybe even kinda random??)
Duel Screen Jabberblocky - The shield is based on the Nintendo DS, when the shield is deployed the DS opens up to a two part shield (maybe drawn in Pictochat or Flipnote Studio). The sword/rapier is the stylus! (You can take som design inspiration from the Styler from Pokemon Ranger??)
Dirk-away Jabberblocky - The shield is based on a round hand soap bottle. The sword/rapier is the soap pump but also mixed with a bubble wand! (They can re-use the Bloblobber projectiles. They've already basically re-used the Explosher projectiles for crab tank.)
Splatula Jabberblocky - The shield based on a frying pan and the sword/rapier on a spatula. (In lore this is after there have been peace talks, trade deals and cultural exchange between Inkadia and the salmonids for a while. Salmon runs is mostly just a combat sport now, which like in Bonerattle arena have audiences, but no real death. Inkfish are inspired by the combat style of salmonids and salmonids share some of their weapons with them, just as inkfish share their technology with them now. OR the situation is the same as in Splatoon 3 and the inkfish are doing cultural appropriation!)
Recephion Jabberblocky - (you know those pens that are chained to their stands that are at front desks and at banks? Those.) The shield is the stand (like a buckler shield) The sword/rapier is the pen that's chained to the stand (Its sword jab would have longer range, maybe the inkling/octoling would even throw it!)
(I also have vauge ideas for a broom and dustpan jabberblocky, but I'm not sure about the name, concept or if it's even "Splatoon-y" enough of an inspiration... Then I have a idea for a octo-boss tentacle jabberblocky, with a lightbulb shield. Idk if that's too wild tho... I would definetly include lore about how to best care for that kind of living sword!!! To let it play with braille rubix cubes and other handheld puzzles, as well as letting it taste different foods and stuff, since irl octopuses can taste with their tentacles!)

grentperez on the sugar clip playlist? cherry wine??? o. ouh no TIPSY. DONGDANG. DALNODO.💥💥💥 im getting ideas and thoughts and they are ALL evil i can't draw him . not again (reaching for my stylus shakily) i must,,, not,,,, i was expecting something more obscure based off the asks you answered but no?? i know most of those songs lmao. and the playlist is so soooft im going to cry sorry i'll be normal from now on. moment of weakness cuz i like music
EAGBR IM GLAD YOU LIKE THE MUSIC THO?? def not intentionally going for obscure music- if anything my hope is that there's something for everyone + most of what i listen to everyday is usually r&b, hip-hop, and rock! (i love music tho and listen to most anything or finding new music. something i pride myself on as a musician ig LOL)
putting together a playlist like this is a bit hard for me when im trying to fit a vibe/theme + i still wanna add more songs, but some are too explicit so i have a separate sugar!clip playlist that's less soft vibes to it (private for now sadly)
if anything, i think tipsy by wanuka is the furthest ill go for this sfw playlist LOL (it used to be song fixation so i listened to it for weeks nonstop on loop + learned it on my ukulele)
thank you for listening!! <333

Hello there!
I've been looking through your page for a while and I LOVE your art! Every piece is so stunning and detailed and beautiful and I don't have enough words to explain how I could stare at each piece for hours.
I'm a traditional artist (as far as skill goes I'd say I'm intermediate) looking to get into digital art and could use some help from a professional. I have no idea where to begin but I really wanna be like you someday!!! If you have any tips or anything I'd appreciate it a lot!
Anon T///T
You literally made me like this, and it's not even an exaggeration
Tumblr media
I'm honestly so, so grateful for your words and I'm just speechless that you think SO highly of my arts T^T (even tho I couldn't call myself a professional...) And I want to thank you for telling me this and also for your time observing my drawings! I honestly try to put a lot into it, and I'm just so happy to know people take time to explore it, thank you!
As for your question, you know, it's quite ironic because I also started with traditional art.
And the best advice from me to you, first of all, don't be afraid. I honestly spent a lot of time being scared to start digital because I was always feeling "no, I should be better in traditional, so I can start digital". In fact, it's TWO absolutely different fields. No doubt, they have the same basic ground, however, the approaches that define your creativity flow differ, and that's why I want to advise you the next things, and, if I'm being honest, these words I wish I said to my past self, so I hope it'll help you, at least!
1.Your traditional skills are valuable and irreplaceable, that you gained by your hard work, patience and dedication, and it deserves a lot of appreciation - you went so far, anon, and congratulations on that! But... In digital art, these skills now have a new meaning: some of them, like basic understanding of anatomy, lightning, composition and work with colours, are incredibly useful, but everything else should be now renewed. It doesn't mean that your skills don't have any practical use, but it should be now reflected and fit into the new perspective. Starting from the way you hold your stylus to the way you work with volumes in your art, all of it should be now adjusted to digital, however, I'm telling you all of it not to scare, but only to support you, since when you try to adjust to these new rules, there's always some discomfort, you would compare with the way you drew in traditional and eventually, the result won't be the same as it was in traditional and it could discourage you. But it's absolutely not your problem! Any change requires some time to get used to the new circumstances, with moving from traditional art to digital - all the same! So, my first advice is give yourself time to get used to the new environment and the new challenges. With time it'll get better, no doubt about it!
2. Use ALL the possibilities of the digital software. Flip your canvas, use a lot of different layers, layer modes, use Liquify tool, transformation and move around the selected part of the drawing, and don't think it's "cheating". No! It's all of your new instruments and it's all here to help you.
3. Be prepared that your colour palette will be differently visible from different devices - laptop, phone, tablet - all of it will have slightly different colorization/saturation, so when you play with the colours, please remember to check it sometimes on different gadgets. I was a victim of it, too, and some of my arts have a very bad work with colour volumes, which resulted in a colorization mess...
I think that it's one of the most important things to start with, and especially - don't be afraid, anon! You're much more capable than you think you are, and digital drawing is just another step in your creative journey!
I apologise if this advice was not so helpful and maybe you expected something else, but if you want advice on something more precise, please ask me and I'll do my best to help as much as possible and if I'm competent enough.
Thank you once again for your kind words, I honestly appreciate it so, so much!

Writer Artist Interview Game
Oh? I guess it's my turn to take on the mic. Thanks @windmaedchen-oceanhorn for the tag
When did you start drawing?
It's hard to remember when but I was really young when I started to make OCs. The youngest I can remember lil old me drawing was when I was still in the Undertale Fandom ( yeahhhhhhhh that was cringe )
Are there different themes or genres you enjoy seeing than what you draw?
I like horror, dark, and the macabre, it's a little difficult due to my artstyle being very scuffed and cutesy. The very rare few times I've scared someone or made them cry with my art is one that make me the proudest. When it comes to art I admire tho... I just can't choose a genre.
Is there an artist you want to emulate or get compared to often?
I was there on YouTube when animation memes are popular and found many artists with beautiful artstyles! So I took the favorite aspects of my fav artists and add them into my style, then overtime I just refined it to my liking. (I am an amalgamation of many artstyles and I accept this nature of mine.)
Can you tell me a bit about your drawing space?
Back then, I only had my phone, hoarded notebook, pens, and color pencils and nothing else. Now that I am attending college, I have a tablet and stylus to use to my heart's content.
What’s your most effective way to muster up a muse?
The idea strikes me and put that idea in a note somewhere, then I can look back on that and explore it a bit more. My idea might not probably work considering I already have ocs to base things on.
Are there any recurring themes in your drawings? Do they surprise you?
Usually it's the hyperfixation of the day and the idea I have. So technically there is not much of a theme.
What is your reason for drawing?
Mostly out of self interest and freedom of expression, there are thoughts and ideas that only drawing can convey. And if I can get money out of this little passion of mine? Who's gonna say no to that?
What do you feel is your greatest strength as an artist?
I think my greatest strength is the shading of my artworks, it makes them feel alive. It's a spray of color that always amazes me.
How do you feel about your own art?
Honestly? I am content with the artstyle I have, but I have the potential to learn more and climb higher. Until then, I have to pass one goal: make horror art.

Good to know you're feeling welcome! :D this is our little place in the internet, and we've decided to make it trans and gay as hell (n i gotta say, i did think "they-them gang! :o" when i found out you started using they/them too a while ago X3 ) n if you received this ask more than once, my tumblr bugged out before i could finish, sorry (。_。)
anyways, and sorry if this is long, but Woe- More Tumblr Things Be Upon Ye:
there used to not be an image limit before, causing a few- interesting posts… tho that changed a few years ago and recently, at first the limit being 10 images per post to now 30 images per post (you can also move the images around a bit)
if you plan on staying long term on tumblr and use desktop the most, i recommend getting the browser extensions Xkit &/or New Xkit cuz… yeah, tumblr is pretty nice, but it sometimes gets hard to use. it also adds extra useful things to the tumblr experience, which is nice to have. i'd say tumblr is like living in a cheap apartment in a calm area of the city. the place's great for what it is, just gotta be sure to leave rat traps near holes and dont worry about the Beast down the hall,
speaking of rats, we got an infestation. you may or may not have heard of it with the voter fraudage going with the polls a bit ago; since tumblr has little to No email verification, people outside tumblr buy bots to get in here and start posting malicious links. tho the bots are surprisingly easy to identify (often times blank blogs with very weird descriptions + stolen picture of lady or ai generated. you'll know it when you see it), and the protocol here is block and report spam so staff can deal with it
and btw if you want to keep a post for as long as your blog stands, i recommend rebloggin! thanks to how tumblr is build as, even if the original post or that blog is gone, the reblog will stay with you (+ tags on reblogs dont really make a post expand outside of your own blog, so many use this to create Very intricate personal tag systems to make easier finding posts, bc once a blog gets 1k+ post in it, it gets hard finding anything on it... <- knows this from experience u.u)
oh and last thing before i go again (and something i found out recently), another browser extension ive been loving: Stylus! with it you can customize a ton of sites to your liking And with a specific style found in the archive of this extension, you can change how the dashboard looks! even changing the background to any image you might want :D
so yeah, thats it, for now. i got more info if you want it, just lmk 👉👈
and you probably already noticed this, but there isnt really any word limit for posts or asks around these lands. tho on tags, the character limit on a single tag is 139. but you can put a Lot of tags, so there! be free mx quinn, no character limit holds you down no more ヽ(✿゚▽゚)ノ
Thank you so much for the knowledge!
Some Quinn Facts:
Mx., Ms. and Miss are all acceptable :)
I use “gay as hell” as a sort of tongue-in-cheek shorthand, but I also identify as trans as hell, queer as hell, non-binary as hell, lesbian as hell, and anxious/depressive as hell
I’m a vegetarian
My favorite food is pineapple pizza (controversial, I know)
For a few years in the early 2000s, I was a licensed auctioneer
The most times I’ve ever cried during a movie is 5 times during Happiest Season
I like the idea of books, but I’m bad at reading them
Overalls give me gender euphoria, and I don’t know why
I hope to release a solo album within the next year
I hope to direct a feature-length film by the time I’m 40
Coming out was the best thing I ever did

DigiThoughts: Mju Mini/Stylus Verve
I've been shooting with a cam that sort of has some cult status in digicam community for a bit, here are my thoughts.
Tumblr media
0. The camera
This camera is the digital cousin of Olympus Mju point and shoot analogue cameras the prices of which exploded after analogue photography youtube evangelized it. This one is in a very Y2K friendly alien shape and is ripe with potential to make tiktok go crazy at some point due to its physical, and not just photographic, aesthetics factor. In the digicam discord I was told that this is a camera that people love due to its form factor (cult status, barring its own emoji in the server) but also the pictures it can produce. I got it as a, stylish, replacement for a Canon Ixus 40 I was taking photos with before with the hope that it can be a replacement capable of good all around photos.
It took me a bit to adapt to the camera, but I think im in a stage where I feel comfortable with it now!
1. Shaky
My first impressions were that every picture I take is quite... blurry.
Tumblr media
Shooting mostly in the evenings and just starting with using AUTO everything the camera tried to compensate for the lack of light with long exposure times. The previous Ixus I had handled automatic shooting quite well but decided to dig a bit into the shooting settings.
2. ISO + Ev to rescue
ISO 400
EV: -0.5 or lower
Smacking ISO up high helps a lot already, adds some beautiful noise to the picture and made it lighter. The EV definitely needs to be hit into negative if shooting in lowlight otherwise the camera leaves it's shutter open for too long and you end with blurry pictures. Maybe a tripod could be interesting to use with it.
Anyhow, this lead me to nicer, noiser photos at a day trip to Rijeka with friends. Importantly tho, I felt like I needed to do some post corrections to "pull out" the colours id like. It's something I'd like to avoid, not necessarily because its bad - it's completely valid - but I work so much with a computer in my day-to-day that I'd rather not make my photography hobby depend on it too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Cuisine Preset
A few weeks later I had the chance to visit my good friend Luka in Italy and this is where I feel like I hit the stride with this camera. With the quest to reduce the amount of editing work I tried out the "modes" the camera offers for shooting, like "Night Time", "Nature"... I don't know what exactly these modes change as its not clear, but I believe they act sort of like a colour filter as they don't seem to override the ISO/Ev (which seems odd for some modes like Night Time).
I found that for the warm, noisy photo style that feels very fuzzy using the Cuisine preset alongside the high ISO made for fantastic results. I guess it fit cause everyone I was shooting was a snack hehe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rambling on pricing
Last thing I'd like to note is, I love how gimmickry this camera feels in the hand. It has such a weird shape. However, I think the regular price of this thing, 100€ on Ebay, is outside of what is reasonable. I got incredibly lucky and found an almost pristine one on an Austrian second hand site for 50 with shipping to Slovenia. If your goal is to shoot nice photos, i don't think this is worth it.
What I want to say is that you can take photos of this style on cameras way cheaper as well. I also believe that the digicam spirit is to pickup something cheap and make it work. Another part of the digicam spirit, to me, is finding weirdly shaped things. In an era of glass slabs seeing some weird angular designs like this is exciting and harkens to a wild west of electronics design and this one is definitely in that category and it feels like this is being abused by sellers a bit. I don't know man, scarcity and collections are a weird thing.
