This was such a small moment but I liked this interaction between Amethio and Friede. Amethio wondering what the move Rayquaza used was, and Friede casually telling him the move's name.

It shows that Amethio still has a lot to learn and in this moment, he admitted that he didn't know something, and Friede offered him an answer, teaching him and willing to tell him about things he doesn't know.

I love how casual Amethio and Liko's conversation is. They talk as if they were old friends. Amethio tells Liko not to give up, and Liko says IN AMETHIO'S FACE that the Explorers are bad people (shameless 🤣🤣)

At no point does the conversation become aggressive, the two are extremely polite and respect each other's barriers. Is really cool to see

Just a few random facts/headcanons

-Aaron wears a dire wolf hide as a cloak, and uses the skull as a mask/hood. It was a gift from the werewolves near Falcon Claw, as he was good friends with them and they wanted him to be part of the pack

-Garroth has a nervous stutter, it gets worse when he's under pressure, and was especially bad as a child under all the stress Garte put on him. it's not as bad in Phoenix Drop, though

-Brendan and Kiki are both from the west of Tu'la, which is a lot of farm/ranch country and open grassland. They migrated to Ru'aun after a bushfire devastated their family ranch, and they couldn't afford to stay

-Zenix is autistic and has echolalia, his most often repeated phrases coming from Garroth, so he mimics the British accent -Aph also does this, usually prompted by Zenix

-Emmalyn has a photographic memory. She can remember anything she's read and repeat it verbatim

-Laurance has stage-fright. He's a fantastic singer, but freezes up when placed in front of a large crowd -Cadenza is the complete opposite. She'll burst out into beautiful song in an instant if asked, regardless of how many people are around

-After joining Phoenix Drop, Dante is often found sat in the shallow water on the beach when not on duty, singing to the ocean

Rojan can be a little creepy sometimes. He kind of gives me like intimate creepy whumper vibes, but he doesn’t do anything sexual. He just gets in your personal space and loves pet names too. He thinks it’s funny to make people uncomfortable sometimes. [Specifically Vampires]

He loves reminding Cordova how much smaller he is compared to him. So you’ll find him towering over him on purpose just for the hell of it. It’s also convenient for him to carry Lilith around without any effort. He’s a pretty good cuddle partner too ;)

Some of the scars you can see in this shot are all basically from the vampires he’s hunted and caught. Although, some of the ones on his hands are from him being stupid as a kid and playing with butterfly knives. He loves a good knife.

Mini bio: Deirdre

Deirdre is a lady demon who lives in hell and works as the Persecutor who judges souls. She's the twin sister of Delilah. She's an adult and has three children with her partner Grandefel, who's the angel Persecutor of heaven. Their children are Mihail, Meredith and Gabriel. Meredith lives with Deirdre, the rest elsewhere. Deirdre is very passionate about her job despite seeming unprofessional in the way she does it, but she's much smarter than people initially think, and can make compelling arguments. She's flirtatious and sassy, and very playful, with a serious and emotional streak.

Thinking about the Explorers and the relationships between different members in the group, and the characters of the individuals ones we've met so far.

There's clearly a dichotomy between them and the Rising Volt Tacklers about how the Rising Volt Tacklers are a close knit and supportive group of people who take good care of each other and that is their strength, while the Explorers...really don't.

The above image is a very basic showcase of what the closest connections seem to be, but to elaborate a bit.

I think there are a select few characters among this group who are probably the most redeemable and present the clearest foils to the kids of the RVT, namely Liko. Those being Amethio, Coral/Sango, and Sidian/Onyx.

Amethio and Coral in particular don't seem to be inherently evil per se, but in different ways they seem to have underlying insecurities and problems that show themselves a lot, especially in contrast to Liko. Especially in the recent episode where Liko and Coral had a baking showdown. Liko won because she had experience, and notably she had her friends Roy, Dot, and Murdock cheering her on. Meanwhile Coral was alone and had no support, and yet it's clear she was genuinely trying and seemed to want to be recognized as someone who can do something. Sidian doesn't seem to be a particularly bad guy either.

Within the groups Amethio is pretty close with his two grunt subordinates Zirc and Onia while Coral and Sidian are close with each other specifically. Those are the closest they have to friends in their own groups.

Hamber and Chalce (Agate) are probably the closest to being adult figures for certain members of the group. Hamber takes very special care of Amethio, while Chalce is specifically close with Sidian and Coral where she's the one giving them orders and now is posing as a teacher and working with them specifically.

That said, for whatever reason that we don't fully understand, it seems Hamber and Chalce aren't particularly good at being the proper parental figures Amethio, Coral, and Sidian seem to need. Liko, Roy, and Dot are with the RVT and have so far been looked after by a very supportive group of adults in Friede alongside his buddies Orla, Mollie, Murdock, and Ludlow, all of who care about each other and have been great parental figures to the kids throughout their time with them. Diana, Liko's grandmother, also has a good relationship with Liko, which is also a contrast since Diana and Hamber were once friends. Meanwhile Hamber and Chalce are also pretty detached from each other as are the members they care for, the Hamber+Amethio+his goons and Chalce+Coral+Sidian sub-groups don't really like each other very much for whatever reason.

Which definitely raises some interesting questions about the dichotomy and contrast that seems to be presenting itself. Hamber and Chalce are admittedly interesting in different ways as they're the closest to being like the RVT adults in that they are serving a guardian role for certain other members but evidently aren't the adult figures Amethio and Coral truly need, or the support network they seem to need.

And yeah, Spinel is there on the right all by himself. I think it's quite obvious what his deal is. He does not care about anyone else in the group. He openly dislikes Amethio and admits to using Coral, Sidian, and Chalce for his own self-gain. He only cares about himself, and he's setting up to be the traitor and a big bad himself who's sucking up to Gibeon for the time being, but fully intends to backstab the group and try to overthrow Gibeon once they all stop being useful to him. He's the most straightforward purely evil villain character like Hunter J from DP.

A long ass ramble but some interesting notes I felt were fun to speculate about.

Some little info about M!Yang (or r/RWBY fans have now started to call him Dio Yang, which is very funny,):

The first dish he ever made by himself was porridge. It was when he was a little kid and Taiyang was rarely around, except for Qrow, who helped him prep the making of porridge.

M!Yang slips up and calls Qrow 'dad' because Qrow was always there for him and Ruby growing up.

He still calls Tai by his first name. The relationship between him and his biological father is complicated due to never having that familial bond growing up.

He finds Tai's attentiveness to be strange after the kids have grown up. He accuses Tai of only being there for them now that they're able-bodied young adults and that he doesn't have to deal with toddlers anymore.

Raising Ruby all his life, he sees her as his daughter sometimes.

While M!Yang was overjoyed to see Zwei again (the scene where Zwei pops out of the mail package) he doesn't read Tai's letter and just hands it to Ruby to read.

M!Yang grew to love cooking, so he became the family home's chef. He taught Ruby how to cook as well, but she's no executive chef and prefers M!Yang's ability to cook.

M!Yang hides so much of his negative emotions because he doesn't want to disappoint his team. He has put the role of being the strong one, so he tries to hide his sadness. But after opening up to Weiss about how much he struggles with his own emotions (V5) he feels like he can slowly come around to being emotional. Weiss understands his struggle to be the strongest, but she scolds him for keeping everything back and tells him that he needs to be open. He has to be real with Ruby about his bottled-up emotions at some point, too, which he dreads.

Despite how much he holds in, M!Yang maintains his role as being the protector and provider for his team. He wants the best for them all and wants to see them succeed, which was why he was offended by Blake's comment (V6) about protecting him. He doesn't want to accept vulnerability just yet and turns her away.

Overall, while M!Yang wants to be the best he can be and is a great brother, he's clearly dealing with inner-turmoil that makes it hard for him to be safely vulnerable around others. Letting his guard down scares him into putting up his walls.

I also thought it would be an interesting conflict to see how M!Yang and Tai's relationship is strained. He's not accepting as canon-Yang is.

He talked about a marital spat and the owners in this episode fit that description given their personalities. They seem to remember Friede too, since they pointed out he hasn't stopped by lately. Maybe Friede was a regular customer.

I see your vision. However EYE am more interested in the fact that in a certain light she looks like she and Carlos could be related.

Long answer: this ask sent me down a bit of a thought spiral about how F1 fandom in general deals with IRL significant others, as opposed to other sports RPF fandoms I've lurked in, so you get an actual essay, sorry.

I think it's interesting how F1 fic writers tend to just ignore irl partners, way more than other sports fandoms. You know how the tag “AU: no girlfriend / no wives” gets A Lot of mileage elsewhere? In F1 it's hardly ever used, because wags are simply excluded by default. The only ships that sometimes remember partners exist (include them or deliberately write around them) are ships involving guys like Seb or Nico whose relationships are a big part of their lives and are probably harder to just push to the side.

By contrast, the younger crop of drivers have a big social media presence that's almost impossible to ignore BUT does not include their actual irl partners because it's all work mandated PR, so these men's F1 personas make it very easy to paint them as single. Even if their broader public personas (outside of F1) are very high profile and often includes very public relationships and friendships — it's not like they keep their relationships lowkey, you know? But people just choose not to dig into those layers of lore, probably simply because the stuff we get through team PR videos and grill the grid already gives us a lot to work with.

IDK, I just find it fascinating! I bet many people don't even notice, but TO ME it's kinda glaring how often everyone in fic is single because imo it's such a fundamental component of the elite athlete lifestyle how these guys always have someone to come home to (and do some emotional labour for them). It doesn't have to be their actual irl girlfriends — many people draw the RPF line at including semi-famous partners, and that's a totally understandable stance — but there aren't even that many OC girlfriends. It is something that stands out to me compared to, idk, hockey RPF to make the most obvious comparison.

HAVING SAID ALL THAT. Yeah, I'd actually be very interested in more fics where Charles has a girlfriend. Again, it doesn't have to be a fictional version of his actual rl girlfriend, it can just be an OC with a different name. BUT, Charles's whole serial monogamy thing is actually a really big part of his personality that I think fandom misses out on, because HE is the one who's assigned the role of girlfriend in most ships he's involved in. You know, the omegafication of Charles... I get why it's a popular trend, I've written it myself and enjoy reading it. But I think there are interesting things to be done, characterisation wise, drawing on the fact that irl he's very much A Dude, and also a serious relationship kinda guy, and a very basic kinda straight guy who yearns for three children by age 35. Like... I think taking THAT kind of man and giving him a sexuality crisis is an avenue full of potential that the fandom could explore more.

tldr: I fully respect people's decision NOT to engage with significant others in RPF but also I think it has potential if you're inclined to go that way! so yea I agree RPF fandom could and should do more with Charles having a girlfriend even if people choose not to RPF *this* specific girlfriend.

First ever tumblr post, ooh I'm currently in the middle of analyzing/taking notes on all of the 'alien' related things in Lilo and Stitch, and I figured I could start posting my rough drafts here before everything goes into powerpoint form. Since I organized the notes by character, we're starting off with my favorite silly guy: Gantu :3 Movie 1 (Lilo and Stitch): -Just wants to prove himself worth to the Grand Councilwoman, this poor man -'Does this, uh, look infected to you?' I'll be touching back on this with more evidence later, but I'm convinced that he's very focused on being clean/sanitary -His name is pronounced in 2 different ways; G-aun-tu and G-an-tu (though the correct pronunciation is G-an-tu) -He was retired from his job, not fired Movie 2 (Stitch! The Movie): -unlike when he was working for the Grand Councilwoman, there is a CLEAR distaste for Hämsterviel, and I feel like he's only there because he needs somebody to be loyal to/get approval from -From here on out, he is CONSTANTLY using 'trog' as an insult (mentioned in the 1st movie as a negative term) -When going to collect Jumba, he gets the door slammed in his face, THEN he rings the doorbell, how polite! -Gets called fat by Stitch, and UNDERSTANDS IT. He CAN speak the same language! -When he activates hyperdrive, he goes 'My turn this time!' indicating that he remembers what Stitch did in the 1st movie -The amount of NASTY eye brow raises and glares he gives Hämsterviel is insane, which further proves my point that he's just there for a job -Doesn't like bologna because it's too fatty, THIS MAN IS BODY CONCIOUS -He keeps apologizing for things. When he interrupts Jumba's joke, gets told he's messing with the punchline, he apologizes. Then, when Hämsterviel yells at him to stop apologizing for things, HE SAYS SORRY AGAIN -Egg salad enjoyer (real) TV Series (Lilo and Stitch: The Series): -Always, ALWAYS bothered with Hämsterviel calls, there's never a time where he's actually willing to go out to catch experiments -'I hate sticky!' and 'That can't be sanitary..' circles back to my point; HE LIKES BEING CLEAN -refers to his mother as 'mumu' -accidentally calls himself Captain, then corrects himself by adding 'formerly' right after -He can hula! He actively ignores Hämsterviel when he calls so he can keep having fun with his silly hobby -'I'm taking your tiny raviolis!' you think he's sick of sandwiches guys -Reuben called him daddykins and babe. Do with that what you will -HE LOOKS LIKE A WET CAT WHEN HE GETS YELLED AT -'San Francisco? Oh, double blitznak..' the writers really don't like San Francisco, and neither does Gantu -Going back to the point that he doesn't really want to work for Hämsterviel, he tries to talk himself out of going out in the rain to hunt an experiment; 'He doesn't need one little experiment,' 'how would he even know?' etc, etc.. -'As you say, aloha' is said while leaving, which means that he knows that 'aloha' can be used for a greeting and parting word That's all I've got so far, but I figured posting something would be fun :3

But jesus fucking christ they fucking tricked him into it they did. Early on, they seemed similar to him: serious, devoted, hard-working. And the thing is, they are definitely devoted and hard-working.

But.

Oh, god they're not serious at all.

Of the two of them, Jack is way more mad at Buck about that one. Because Bucky showed his complete lack of fucks about two days in, and Jack thought, "Well, okay, he's still a great person, and with Cleven to help me maybe we can--"

And that's when Buck's full chaos demon persona showed itself.

Like, you have to understand. Buck really, truly, is mature and together.

But he also ISN'T when it feels safe. And Bucky is so fucking safe. Bucky drunk sings and tells silly stories and occasionally, he wants to fight, but only if someone else really goads him. And even then it's one pop to the mouth, and he's done. Even if he has to go for a second punch, it's not from malice. Curt getting into their orbit fixes this problem. Curt ALWAYS one hits and he fixes Bucky's form.

But. Like. Imagine you're Jack Kidd. And you thought these idiots were trustworthy. And they AREN'T. But you still love them. And then they show up with Curt like a puppy they found.

God, he loves them to the absolute marrow of his bones, but he is gonna murder them with his own fucking hands.

Character Focus: Derivan!

Oh man, Derivan.

I mean, his character concept was kind of what started this whole thing, right? I like monsters - if the tags on some of my other posts haven't made it obvious - and 'living armor' pushes a lot of buttons for me. There's a lot in the idea of being othered that resonates with the queer experience, and Derivan embodies a lot of that in a lot of ways by being, uh, a suit of armor that's afraid to let other people know that he's a suit of armor?

(It turns out they knew all along. Not completely, but they figured something was up, considering he never took off his helmet. 0 of his friends were surprised when it was eventually revealed.)

Derivan spent most of his formative years in a dungeon (the video game equivalent of a dungeon, as in a 'challenging location', not someone's basement), so he's very fascinated by the world at large - which explains a lot of his connection to Vex, who loves explaining just about everything in too much detail. Unlike most people who talk to Vex, Derivan sits and listens to every word attentively.

What's sort of funny is that a lot of people assume he's ace? I do have an ace character, but that's Sev. Derivan is demisexual. I leave further thoughts on this as an exercise to the reader. (Or you can respond to this post with theories.)

Derivan represents an outside-context problem for the system in the world of Edge Cases. He's essentially an embodiment of an issue I often find in video games - that video games will often designate 'monster races' that are all enemies, despite several of them being very clearly sapient. He's meant to be commentary on that aspect of the reductiveness of video game logic, so to speak.

He's very formal and thoughtful, he uses the lights in his helmet to express most of his emotions, and is otherwise protective of his friends, who were the first people to accept him. Found family vibes baybeeeeee
