(staring into mirror) today i will not be thinking about crozier wearing one of fitzjames's gloves after he is gone. today i will not think about how crozier does not let go of fitzjames's hand once in his final moments, only to coax what will take him away down his throat. i will not think about the pain of fitzjames's request, to ask crozier to guide him somewhere the other man cannot go. today i will not think about how they do not look away from one another. today i will not think about crozier's soft 'its alright' when fitzjames explains why he cannot haul because it is alright. because they have time. they have time.

love the concept of transfem fitzjames not just because it's both fun to headcanon characters as trans and also thematically appropriate in her case but because i feel like she'd be so ideologically incoherent about it. she'd be like i should be allowed to fight and die in a war not because i'm a man or a woman but because i'm james fitzjames and i can do anything. diversity ??? this trans woman is defying traditional gender roles in a way that seemingly benefits absolutely no one.
