im back. have my sketch dump of toh shugo chara au i drew during my short trip.

the premise would be that luz is the joker the student council has been looking for, having more than 1 egg (stringbean and titan). she also has a big fat crush on the council's king, amity

amity would have a similar chara as ikuto, a cat named ghost symbolizing wanting to become free from her mother, while serving as the council's king. i also like the idea that like tadase, she isnt necessarily attracted to luz (until later on), but is incredibly attracted to luz's luzura form.

willow is the recently appointed queen after getting her chara, clover. she connects with the enemy hunter, who has been working on creating x eggs for his uncle's company, while he was undercover in their school.

gus is the ace and the youngest member of the guardians, but has had his chara for longer than the rest of the members.

Can you make a tutorial on how you world build and make ocs? I can't seem to make any people in my brain, but then when I try to come up with environments jobs, beliefs and little details to slowly come up with someone, I think: well I don't really know how people have influenced the world- it's a weird loop

To be honest, I don't think I can! Writing is an extremely personal process. The way I write is directly related to how I process things, what I find important in stories, years of my own analysis of my and other's writing, etc... The way you write will be unique to you, as well. But I can explain how I personally think of it.

The short answer:

Write. Write anything and everything, it's a tool to explore your ideas. Analyze your own writing, and write more. Then, as you discover which ideas you want to develop, write more to explore them more. You won't know what you want otherwise!

The long answer:

I think this kind of loop is common. It's easy to feel like everything needs to be done "at once," because our job as writers is to make elements logically fit with each other for our readers. But as you've discovered, developing multiple elements simultaneously isn't really possible, or at least is extremely difficult.

Personally, when I think of writing, I break it into three major elements; characters, world, and plot. As much as possible every scene explores one or more of these, and as much as possible these three things tie back into what I personally consider most important: theme.

Everything I do is in service of the themes I want to present. Without them my events feel aimless. It can take a while to discover them, but they're the core of my work. You will have to discover what you feel is the core of yours. Analyzing other media helps with this too.

Concepts in your brain exist in a state of infinite potential. But when you start writing you have to start making choices, which removes potential as you move forward... But you have to move forward anyways. If there's ideas you want to explore later, you can always explore them later.

What this ends up meaning, to answer your question, is that I don't think of my characters as "people in my brain" or my worlds as something people have influenced... Not at their core, at least. They are tools that I use to represent specific ideas. Obviously they're also my blorbos, but mostly they're serving a specific narrative purpose.

So above all else... Write. Write, and discover what you're writing about, and then start over and write with that in mind. Keep doing this. But you have to write!

Okay so don't shoot me for this but

I feel like we can acknowledge that there is no non-rightwing party in our two-party system, due to the overton window both democrats and republicans are far right, and that they both are awful people or at best well-meaning people who still perpetuate the cycle of violence and enrichment, both of these choices are awful choices

but at the same time we can also say, Hey, one of these parties are sort of classical republicans in a sense and probably won't make big or particularly impactful change across the board (at least not to the extent that is necessary to place a bandage on the usamerican pipe's gaping hole), and the other party is a rabid imperial cult who promises and has shown to make thing worse and who's functional god-king has shown he has acumen to direct the cult as attack dogs

yes it's fucked up that everyone who can vote has to make a choice between bad and worse, yes this is an unacceptable state of affairs for a nominally "democratic" country but not voting is basically leaving up to those who do, and as 2016 showed the right wing WILL vote for those who don't, and functioning as a centrist is how shit gets worse i thought we were past "abstaining from politics" when we were ragging on enlightened centrists

OH MY GOD I FORGOT ABOUT THIS ONE.

Okay so. without looking through my old stuff for it. What can I remember off the top of my head.... there were clones, I know that, and the clone the story focused on, #424, mainly had an arc about realizing he's not Cole but Cole's clone and then having an existential crisis + becoming his own person.

And then I think the OG Cole destroyed the facility making the clones and then fucked off to be a hermit in the woods because.... OH YEAH he found a BABY in the rubble and needed to protect it! I can't recall if the baby was a clone of all the ninja or just some of them.... I think they were called Coffee though?

Man, some of my old AUs really were just. Whatever concepts I wanted. And I was so real for that kind of self-indulgence actually. I need to be sillier with it tbh

Under the cut are mostly self-insert doodles of decreasing quality. Again, not much directly tied to Team Fortress 2. Might as well toss these out while I have no access to my puter. Much yapping under the cut and in the tags incoming.

Another self-insert, this time less of a "here's me as a tenth class" and more of a "here's my game experiences translated into the class I would take the place of". The Cleaner. Although I guess they could still be wearing either suit. It doesn't matter that much.

That one Convict's Case taunt with Backup would be extremely funny, because the man would be on the verge of a breakdown (he does not want to go to jail so bad you have no idea). The second image- I owe no explanation. You know what I am. You see the pattern with my favourites.

The duality of the man. Resting face versus "just heard you express interest in religion/Russian folklore" face. He's not that hard to make friends with, when you pull him away from all the explosions.

Some doodles of trying to figure his face out. Unfortunately, the more I stare at him, the more I worry that he looks like A Certain Guy With The Last Name "Kazarin", and the fear of never being original in my life caught up to me.
