You draw back, gaping at him like a fish. "How dare you?" you play the part of being offended so well Gallagher nearly misses the hint of mirth in your features. "I-I've done this before, clearly!"

An amused huff leaves him, "Sure, I've heard that before."

To be fair, he remains unopposed to you shaving his face even if you haven't done it before. The not-so-sneaky glances you've been taking on his growing stubble is proof, and so are the times he's walked in to you watching videos on how to groom someone's beard. (He promptly ignored it and asked you if you'd like your eggs sunny side up for today.)

He's not the type to do self-care often. But seeing that you're eager to take care of him, he's also not the type to refuse it.

"Do you still want me to shave your... uh, situation?" You sound hesitant. He thinks it misplaced.

Gallagher chuckles. "You're calling it a situation?" The hesitance slowly melts into annoyance, an affectionate roll of your eyes your response to his question. "That's a joke if I haven't heard one."

However, that eye roll doesn't prompt you into continuing. He lifts a hand to your cheek, caressing it. "I didn't say stop, did I?"

You huff, despite the heating of your cheeks, and continue. Gallagher thinks this is the best chance to stare, watching you with fondness swirling in his chest.

Sure, this can be a tradition between the both of you.

The Khans - My Introspective

I don't like the Military and I don't support a lot of the actions the NCR does to the Mojave in New Vegas but in terms of the Khans I feel like the fandom infantilizes or diminishes the fact that they are or at least one of the most violent raider groups in the Mojave.

What happened at Bitter Springs was a tragedy, innocent lives were lost and the fact that the NCR swept it under the rug and continued to hunt down Khans that are truly trying to back down and resettle is horrendous, but there is a history to the NCR's aggression towards them.

The Khans first appear in Fallout 1, the main faction of raiders in the game besides the mentioned Vipers (who don't actually appear if I remember correctly). They came from Vault 15 along with the members that would form rival groups; The Vipers, The Jackals, and Shady Sands. They are a very large and foreboding raiding party, known for burning towns and encampments they attack and taking survivors as their slaves or slaves to sell. They are a big reason why the Jackals and Vipers are actually so small in New Vegas, they wiped them out.

Their main targets where Shady Sands and Junker town, the former of the two would be what became The New California Republic. This explains a big part of their animosity towards the Khans, only furthered by the fact the Khans kidnapped Tandi as a young girl, the girl that would go to offically found the NCR out of Shady Sands. When the dweller saved her and killed much of the Khans, this allowed the NCR to develop into what it currently is as they no longer needed to focus on fighting off constant raids.

When the Khans became the New Khans in Fallout 2, they barely resembled the Khans as they were led by Darion, Garl Death-Hand's son (former leader of the Khans). They were smaller and refortified vault 15, still planning to take down the NCR (at this time nowhere near as imperialist as they are in FNV) as mostly a revenge/power ploy. They manipulate The Squat, a group of y'know squatters, that lived in the upper levels, promising and lying about repairing the vault and offering them ransacked caravan resources if they kept the NCR away. Being their only life line The Squat had no choice. Still the chosen one got rid of them and they left New California for the untapped Mojave.

The Great Khans, the most current iteration, continued in the path as the original Khans, regrouping and gaining information from the Followers who hoped they'd use their new medical knowledge to heal themselves. They gained more members and a substantial part of Vegas territory before they were run out by the three families. They were pushed to Bitter Springs where they first and foremost continued to pick off and attack NCR settlements, most of which consisted of caravans, towns, and camps as they saw them as easy like in their old days. It was the killing of four influential Republic members (non-military) that brought on Bitter Springs.

Bitter Springs was the result of years of hatred and animosity and likely the goal to send a final message to the Khans. It does not excuse the fact that innocent men, women, and children were slaughtered with few survivors. It does not excuse the fact that the NCR has yet to make amends for this and continues to try and persecute the Khans even in moments of surrender.

This post is not to defend what happened but to give a quick rundown of the Khan's history and their history with the NCR. It's to remind people that the NCR is not just their military power but an actual group/settlement of people that were also attacked indiscriminately by the Khans. It's to point out that the Khans were not a band of indigenous people (no matter the comparisons) driven from their homes but raiders who fed into the brutal cultures of the west coast wasteland and were in turn treated to the same things.

My frustration comes from the fact that FNV has so many comparisons to indigenous struggles but the groups it chooses are not comparable at all. Their oppression hinges on not being familiar with their past, which explains why they have the reputation they do in canon. The "tribes" are often not even groups of minorities or have goals/desires out of acquisitions of power and I feel like it is important to both acknowledge that this is bad indigenous rep because it is not supposed to be. It is supposed to be a comparison of the in-game groups and how they all do the same things and justify it in their own fucked up ways, some better at it than others.

FNV of all the Fallout games (in light of it being heavily Western based) distastefully uses indigenous imagery and theming for groups that are sad mimicries of American indigenous cultures at best and outright offensive at worst.

"What?????!!!! Is Shrimpy having second thoughts???" Floyd suddenly blurted out. "Right after gettin' me all excited too... how mean of you~"

Floyd licked his lips as he brought his prey to his mouth.

"It's really not nice to tease people, Shrimpy..." He paused, and swallowed the saliva that was accumulating in his mouth. "Especially when that person is a predator~"

"Stop that..." You told him.

"Haaahh?? Why do you look so scared~? Don't you wanna see your friends again~?" Floyd laughed to himself. "All of 'em are screaming and crying for ya... wondering when their friend will be joining them... don't you want to join them? It'll be fun! It'll just be a short ride... a little slide down... and sure, it's gonna be a little cramped... and hot... and loud... and painful... but I'm sure you'll love it!"

Floyd laughed to himself.

"It's not like you have any other choice~"

Floyd tossed the shrimp into his mouth and swallowed it whole.

"Can you stop playing with your food please?" You asked. "It's freaking me out..."

"Eh? What's wrong with it, Shrimpy?" Floyd asked. "It's not like I'm eating you, is it?"

"Well, you were calling it Shrimpy... which is what you call me..."

"That's just because it was a shrimp! What else am I supposed to call it? Strawberry squid?" He sarcastically asked. "Maaaaan, you're weird sometimes..."

You two sat in silence for a bit after that.

"Urgh... can't believe I'm still hungry..." Floyd sighed to himself. "...maybe... another shrimp could help with that~?"

"H-huh?!"

"Mmmmhmhm.... yeah... you'd fill me up nicely..." Floyd said, staring at you. "Say, Shrimpy, why don't you and I skip our next class together~? And you don't have to be worried about the teachers catching you..." Floyd patted his stomach. "I'll hide you somewhere they won't find ya~"

"Um! S-sure!" You said, blushing profusely.

"Well then, let's get to it~! Ooh! And quick! I don't know how much longer your little shrimp friends are gonna last in there!"

"So you're gonna-"

"Uh huh. But don't you worry! I'll cast a protection spell beforehand..." Floyd kissed you on the cheek. "I don't want anything bad happening to my tasty Little Shrimpy, after all~"

The 'Enjoying watch you suffer' line in Broadcast has always been hard to pin down; Tim's leg getting broken is the biggest incident in Entry #35, so it's natural to want to tie the two together, but it seems to fit so indelicately into what we know about the timeline of totheark's internal relationship that it almost causes more problems than it resolves. However, even though it's very blink and miss it, Tim does actually manage to stab Alex in the arm before he gets knocked down -- we hear Alex cry out in pain, can see blood on the blade when Jay picks it up, and then in the recovered corrupted footage from that tape that Jay posts as Entry #36 Alex says "I did what I had to... he'd just stabbed me" -- and that injury being what totheark was trying to call attention to, to me, reads a lot more clear and consistent than anything else does

Yes while Victor DID dream of kissing his cousin on the lips, when awake he doesn't seem to be maintaining this kind of romantic feelings that much. Maybe partly due to this being said in retrospect, or maybe because he doesn't really see her as a romantic partner. I haven't read many books with romance in them lately to compare (been reading Moby Dick, 20k Leagues, Jekyll And Hyde) but comparing the, contrary to popular belief, evident attraction between Jonathan and Mina, or between Marcus and Cosette (though in a different context) it reads are less romantic to me.

To be honest, I forgot about any such scene. So I looked it up, and, well...

At length lassitude succeeded to the tumult I had before endured; and I threw myself on the bed in my clothes, endeavouring to seek a few moments of forgetfulness. But it was in vain: I slept indeed, but I was disturbed by the wildest dreams. I thought I saw Elizabeth, in the bloom of health, walking in the streets of Ingolstadt. Delighted and surprised, I embraced her; but as I imprinted the first kiss on her lips, they became livid with the hue of death; her features appeared to change, and I thought that I held the corpse of my dead mother in my arms; a shroud enveloped her form, and I saw the grave-worms crawling in the folds of the flannel.

Yeah, there's a reason this scene didn't stick in my memory as 'Victor dreams about kissing Elizabeth' so much as 'Victor has pretty revealing nightmares about the things on his mind'. This kiss doesn't seem romantic to me at all.

Elizabeth is very clearly overlapping his mother here - quite literally, she turns into her. I think that points to a couple things.

First, Elizabeth greeted with a first kiss = Victor meeting his mother's final wishes (on her deathbed some of the final words were that she had always hoped to be made happy by seeing Victor and Elizabeth married).

And yet his kiss is the kiss of death, killing her = reflecting Victor's horror over what he's done, the Creature he created being something monstrous to his eyes (also foreshadowing how his relationship to her will put her in danger along with his other loved ones, but that's meta knowing how things with him and the Creature turn out)

Elizabeth becomes his mother's corpse as she dies = again the preoccupation with his mother. One of his stated goals was to eventually master bringing back the dead, and he embarked on this study not long after her death, so the link there feels pretty easy to make for me. After his 'failure' to make the beautiful human he imagined this now seems out of his reach too, and he's still grieving.

He wakes up shuddering and then Creature is looming over him... it all ties in much more to his feelings about what he has just done than his feelings about/for Elizabeth, in my eyes. The happy impulse doesn't read to me like genuine romantic feelings but more just the idea of a happier reality (the one his mother longed for).

I mean, Frankenstein is definitely not a romance, but neither are Dracula and Les Miserables. But they feature a romantic relationship, whereas in my opinion the role of Elizabeth and Victor's relationship is much more bound up in ideals and expectations and familial love than anything romantic.

Man isn't that great. Already looking like father time or some crap while other witches and wizards around the same age or decades to maybe a century or so older than him tend to look younger (but still old if not look the same age).

Like, if I remember correctly in the book Grindelwald's aunt had a similar "old" appearance to Dumbledore yet had been around for far longer. And I think the great aunt Weasley no one really liked was about as old as Dumbledore....but didn't look as old.

So I saw someone on Facebook complaining about HP writers making Dumbledore manipulative. How they hate that Dumbledore always leaves Harry to be abused, is always keeping information to himself, and is always controlling everyone.

Dumbledore left Harry with the Dursleys knowing full well they wouldn’t be suitable. He knew Harry wasn’t treated well but left him there to breed a martyr mentality so he’d let himself be murdered. 

Dumbledore knew Quirrell was possessed and did nothing about it, preferring to rely on a prophecy instead of taking matters into his own hands when he had the chance.

Dumbledore knew Lockhart was a fraud and did nothing about it. Two years in a row he allowed the education of 1,000 students to be compromised and let them all waste money on fake ass books.

Dumbledore refused to tell Harry anything and in the end Sirius paid the price because had Harry been up to date as he rightfully should have since Dumbles was expecting him to defeat Voldemort anyway, Sirius would be alive. He should have fucking said something. And didn’t.

Dumbledore has built a habit of doing what he thinks is best and ignoring everyone else’s feelings and opinions.

Dumbledore had Harry kidnapped from his legal guardian the night his parents were murdered. Sirius wasn’t sent to Azkaban - without a trial that Dumbledore never petitioned for btw even though he was Chief Warlock - until November 3rd, his birthday.

Dumbledore forced Sirius to stay in the very place he hated most of all.

Dumbledore left a magical mirror known to kill people by trapping them in visions of their heart’s desires, laying around in hopes that children would find it.

Dumbledore did nothing any of the times Harry became the school pariah. 

Dumbledore, for some reason, needed to borrow a fancy Invisibility Cloak that cannot be summoned by anyone, the very moment two of his warriors are targeted by the big baddie.

All of this is canon shit. Having him do this in fic isn’t fanon. How can people not get that?
