Uh- are you aware of the meaning of proship?
Proship has never meant anything except a combination of three ideas:
Ship and let ship (your ships don't harm me and vice-versa) and YKINMK (your kink is not my kink, and that's okay; my kink stories don't harm you and vice-versa)
Harassment over fiction is not acceptable
Censorship of fiction is not acceptable either
Any other definitions are made by antis, not proshippers, and are an attempt at revisionism to justify harassment based on false claims.

Frickin finally am I right? Read it.
That Totally spies crossover w/M. Mystery
Ok so I’m going to try to go in chronological order of events happening in the episode to get out everything I didn’t like and thought didn’t add up in it. That means I have to watch the damn thing again. (for the umpteenth time since all previous times I try to write it all out my progress gets deleted by tumblr “experiencing an error” of some kind)
I hope you get some enjoyment out of the results of my effort. Now let’s begin! This is episode 118 or season 5 episode 14 of Totally Spies for those who wish to watch themselves.
So right off the bat, just after 6 minutes in, the spy group and the special agent make an oopsie by capturing each other(at the same time funny enough) over a misunderstanding and being trigger happy. Martin speaks first demanding to be let go because he’s on an important mission and Clover just ignores him with an unrelated lame insult before declaring they too have a mission; like he isn’t on one? Martin laughs….and Idk why…either he found her insult funny, found the idea that they were separate agents possibly on the same side in this current situation funny or that was a mocking laugh. Either way Martin is the one who makes a compromise and deal first by showing good faith in them keeping their word by letting them free first. Sam agrees on behalf of the group while remaining suspicious and Martin apparently is the same cuz as soon as he’s free he assumes a defensive position ready to attack…until he sees the girls and immediately focuses (in my opinion weirdly) only on Clover. Personally I always believed he’d be unsure of who to flirt with since they’re all pretty hot and would just try his luck with all three to see if any were interested. Y’know, standard Martin antics when there’s more than one pretty girl close by. But what was even stranger to me is how thoroughly uninterested all three of these boy-crazy gals are when they see the cutie known as Martin clearly and up close. Like…what even is this? WHO are these girls?! ANY time an even moderately attractive guy shows up on the scene, even when they’re working, one upto all of them hone in on the guy QUICK. And YET! Martin, a good looking guy with a killer body, gets the disinterested treatment that he gets from those bizarre girls back home. Worse, Clover immediately insults the guy and declares him a geek with no evidence of such and having no idea about anything about him. It can’t be cuz he flirted with her, she has guys flirting with her all the time and was even checking a few messages on her phone from a bunch of nerds who wanted to ask her out earlier. I say nerds because the show identified them as such due to them being from a comic book store and their manner of speech when speaking. Ok, enough of that, gotta get back on topic and TRY to be somewhat objectively on task with this play by play on this crummy crossover. I can save the deviating rants for later…or a video if I do one. Ahem. Martin takes exception to the insult and informs them of who he is, obviously proud of his career choice, Clover gives him the brush off but Sam thankfully asks the relevant questions such as what agency he works for. But then Sam, frickin SAM, decides to give him the brush off as well in a more insulting manner(as she insults him and his job) than Clover by denying the existence of the paranormal which….why? In her career so far she’s handled jobs that had supernatural like effects on people and places even if there was some kind of science behind it, seen actual aliens, and encountered (evil)people capable of doing things that defied logic or normal reality or even both. Martin responds by informing her that she reminds him of his sister in an unflattering way which for some reason causes Sam to get so mad she physically assaults him. I don’t remember Sam getting so violent with anyone over mere words if they weren’t a villain or occasionally Mandy so that seemed weird to me.
Anyways Alex has yet to say a thing or give a reaction to him, Martin tries to validate proof of the paranormal immediately by using the fact that the tracks they were looking at just disappeared but Clover who took a closer look proved him wrong which caused Sam to laugh at him mockingly. Why she gotta be a bitch about it? This was when I started to get a strong indication that Sam was gonna be the ‘Debbie Doubter Downer’ stand in of Martin’s bitch of a sister Diana. I have previously shared a bit for why I don’t like her in other post…s…but to reiterate she’s a mean dumbass despite her academic achievements. She’s seen for a fact that supernatural things exists, knows a literal extraterrestrial, knows and participates in the same company her brother works for (which Martin is a top agent in) but persists in demeaning him, his accomplishments, his work ethic/enthusiasm, his knowledge, and refusing the existence of the supernatural she’s been actively apart of. WHY they would do such a thing to Sam’s character when even while doubtful she tries to keep an open mind and is typically polite to strangers who’ve done her no harm(as I recall?) I have no clue. Why not just let Java and Diana join Martin on this mission like they typically do for most of his missions in his own series? Is it to set up Sam and Diana meeting and either instantly clicking or immediately disliking the other over the shallow so-called similarities they share? Maybe it’s to get Sam to realize she’s regressed as a person somehow and strive to improve herself above that, and Diana, like she’s always seemed to want to? No. No, they don’t do any of that. Martin’s “buddies”/teammates don’t make an appearance once in this “Special”. We can only wonder why.
It is now about 7 and a half minutes in, I’m on my 3rd page of typing…you all are gonna have a lot to read by the time I get to the end it seems. Hope the wait was worth it. I likely am gonna do a video too(on my youtube channel: Commentate DaFandoms) so there’s that to look for as well lol.
So Martin continues to try to make his case with persuasive arguments/points as they all continue forward together. Alex is most receptive to his idea by referencing a video game and Martin weirdly dismisses the game used to speak on a game he thinks is more relevant still trying to get Clover’s interest which…hello! Alex is right there and just voiced having a interest in something similar to his which pretty much never happened in his own series(except once but she flaked on him and disappeared so she don’t count) and he just….doesn’t hone in on that little detail immediately? All the girls he tends to talk to are boring plain crabby basic patties that act as if anything remotely supernatural is a freaky nerd thing. And here’s Alex, giving him the benefit of the doubt and displaying a love for old school monster/alien games and just- Like…really? Really? What the fu-Clover is CLEARLY still uninterested and is looking like a regular old grump, kinda like that one snobby bitch Martin has a constant flame for in his own series, you know the one? Wears a boring black outfit usually, her personality was like Mandy’s mixed with the worst of Clover’s, her hair looked like a shaggy version of Clover’s too, she was friends with Diana…? Her name was Jenni. Didn’t care for her, personally. I suppose in a way they decided to make Clover her stand in for attitude and as Martin’s romantic interest…that again makes zero sense to me when he liked to ‘shoot his shot’ with any cute girl which was something they tried to make seem like a very undesirable trait of his typically via his sister only to be doubled standard when a different guy does the same and is successful. And all three spy girls…are super cute. Nothing anyone says will make me understand why he didn’t try flirting with all of them OR how none were at least receptive or appreciative of his looks at first. Nothing.
Now Martin has suggested that they work together after Clover tries to get her group to separate and she admittedly fakes politeness in his direction while doing so, so Alex is the only one receptive to the idea of a team up. Getting harsh looks from Clover and Sam as a result. What exactly is their malfunction in regards to him? He’s been rather good natured about their unfounded hostility so far. Sam decides to compromise with Alex by having Jerry decide for them, clearly hoping he’d say ‘no’, only to find out from him that not only is the organization Martin works for legit(which means the paranormal is too) but their boss is old friends with his boss AND Martin has a stellar rep on par with the 3 of theirs combined(as they work as a group while he’s largely solo) and therefore encouraging of them teaming up. Instead of being appeased or more open or anything positive, Clover and Sam are still skeptical and lowkey insulting towards Martin. Martin meanwhile is trying to be polite at first by standing a good distance away from them for the illusion of privacy for their call but can clearly hear everything and instead of taking offense he only interrupts to clear a moment of confusion to avoid misinformation for the girls and he gets pleased/smug over their boss validating him (plus the compliment from Jerry was nice too I’m sure) he doesn’t even make fun of them for not knowing of the organization he’s from even though he clearly knew about W.O.O.H.P.
Martin, trying to prove his usefulness right off the bat after such a shining commendation from the girls’ boss; uses one of his own tools to do what their’s failed to, gaining looks of shock and (from Alex) awe over it. Likely due to the way his gadget popped out and how he knew he could link their scanners to swap info and did so without any assistance from them. Clearly, Martin is experienced and knows what he’s doing well enough to accomplish such a thing with their different tech. This time, while still doubtful, Sam is less rude when Martin imparts his knowledge and once Alex backs up his claim due to having heard the same news Clover is on board with following this new lead brought about by Martin. Nothing is shown about the plane ride they all took together but for some reason…Clover is back with the attitude and is physically hostile now in wanting him gone as she just…abruptly hits him out the way when all he wanted to do was show off/use another of his gadgets to their benefit. I doubt anything happened on the ride, they would have showed it or at least did dialogue over it if it was relevant to the interactions…or if they weren’t saving money on animations…but they didn’t. Admittedly Martin was clearly smug in claiming his gadgets are better but he was not being mean about it(it could be inferred he’s just proud of the company he works for), and it was later shown that his gadgets are superior in general to the point that Sam grudgingly admits to only her friends that she wants them to have the same gadgets, yet Clover and Sam use the moment to try to get more digs into Martin with Alex just standing back all docile like and laughingly watching. What ‘digs’ am I talking about you may be wondering?
Weeelllllllllll, aside from the physical assault from Clover, Sam implies that his gadgets could be compensating for his lack of ability to use (simpler)devices and tells him to “watch and learn” as though he’s some greenhorned newb when she heard from Jerry not too long ago that he’s a top-notch agent like they are, and Alex giggling could be seen as her laughing at Martin in agreement to what her friends are doing. When Martin decides to ignore their words after a moment to use his own gadget like he wants none of them say a word to him directly and instead Sam and Clover are silently seething while Alex is acting unbothered and a bit giggly. Weird. Then when Martin points out the so-called nonexistent supernatural thing to them Sam admits to it being real but tries to underplay that by voicing it can’t be the cause of the problem since it’s frozen when that’s not the issue. The issue was her denying the possibility of its existence not how it was involved. Just her being a sore loser I suppose. Which is just as well since Martin was being a sore winner doing an actual victory dance, though to be fair it probably feels good to prove he’s right to nonbelievers when he’s not allowed to do that often.
Clover sees something and calls the other girls over, maybe possibly excluding Martin? But Martin notices, and thinks she may be trying to call him a girl as well and (somewhat nicely) takes exception to that, though offended, to which they all just ignore. How rude. Clover gets kidnapped and it’s a scramble to save her, Sam gets closest but is ineffective, Clover doesn’t even seem to try to save herself, Alex accidently traps Martin when he’s trying to trap the kidnapper, he frees himself and clearly there’s no hard feelings between him and Alex as they don’t blow up at each other and Martin even helps Alex up a bit later when she falls. But for whatever reason Sam wants to hold onto her attitude as she tries to dismiss him into leaving when he thinks it’d be better for them to go back to his agency which deals with the paranormal regularly, something she had tried to deny was a real thing as opposed to going to the W.O.O.H.P agency that couldn’t gain/read any info from the sample of the yeti earlier. Yes. Very smart of Sam. Clearly she is living up to her role as the smart one in this crossover by refusing to go to the agency that is better equipped for such a mission and can give her access to possibly better resources and more contacts that could be useful in saving Clover and other future missions. Indeed, a winner is Sam. And Martin being driven by his hormones decides to give in to Sam’s insistence over going to W.O.O.H.P instead of The Center just for the chance to help them save Clover. He’s a stupid cow. He could’ve still saved her if he’d split to go to his agency and then resumed the mission. Probably would’ve gotten to her well before them too since The Center seems to mostly rely on friggin portals/teleportation for long travels as I recall. But it’s whatever, I guess. As interesting as it was that Martin was getting along with Jerry so well as a guest while Sam and Alex looked up some info, what was even more interesting to me is how Martin knew what button to push to get the three of them out of there and on their way to where they needed to go to get going. I remember an episode where the girls tried to use the buttons and caused a mess/pain unto themselves cuz they had no clue what was the right buttons and such.
About 12 minutes in now, once again we do not see any interaction between the characters inside the vehicle for some reason. And we see Martin using Clover’s Jetpack parachute and happily stating to wanting one of his own and planning to talk with his boss about acquiring some, the first compliment he’s given towards W.O.O.H.P’s gadgets so far and he isn’t bitter about it or anything(like Clover and Sam have been about the gadgets) yet for some reason, Sam…frikkin Sam wants him to “admit” that their gadgets are better than his when…he clearly doesn’t think that. Liking one of their gadgets doesn’t mean all of theirs are suddenly the best thing ever. She’s seen two examples herself to compare on how his gadgets are better, he clearly loves the agency he works for if she’s been observant at all and she was the 1st to admit to wanting one of his gadgets earlier in the show behind his back!! But has the nerve to look angry when he calmly states that he now thinks their gadgets are different but not better. Why is she so damn salty? There’s no good reason for it. Like…none. The most logical implication one could jump to is that she’s just prideful to the point of arrogance about her level as a agent and the agency she’s been working for but is she like that to other W.O.O.H.P agents or any other agents of a different company so quickly?? I don’t think so. It’s been a few years since I last binged all of the Totally Spies seasons. I don’t remember if I finished the last season in my last attempt/run through…but I like to think that Sam isn’t this damn petty!!! Especially out the blue towards a cute guy! And Martin IS cute, if you don’t think so you’re delusional or need a vision check. She can’t think that he’s just a ‘kid’, they don’t know each other’s ages but they are shown to be close in age and obviously think they all are. My guess is that the girls are still 18 since this season is when they started college and that Martin is 17 but possibly almost 18? He hadn’t graduated from high school yet as his series ended/got cancelled before then I believe. So all that leaves, to me, is the Diana Lombard stand in persona given to us by our dear Sam who is vastly superior to that disdainful bitch and yet is written to emulate her. So sad.
Martin strangely gets scared of Clover on sight when he sees her with some big ol’bushy eyebrows. Shallow? Or bad writing? Why not both, both is good. It makes no sense why he’d be scared, and even less for him to find her repulsively ugly like Clover feared. From my knowledge and impressions of the guy(I watched a lot of the show when younger and a lot of reruns but I didn’t know it as well as Totally Spies partly due to it’s odd run times but it did leave lasting impressions on me) I’d have expected him to be intrigued by her minor changes and try to be suave in order to curry favor from her. Big bad yeti mutant ex-mountain ranger dude bursts in to be the villain he is for the episode. All of them, except for Clover, get mouthy making demands/lectures/ or asking questions, Alex’s question making him go into a rant with the last things Martin and Alex say to the dude actually being a compliment yet despite this and Martin actually saying the least of the three, friggin Sam decides to bite Martin’s head off when he wants her to use her gadget to free his watch from the ice so he can use his gadgets to speed up the time it would otherwise take to free them because she’s somehow decided that the villain being a villain doing the normal villain shtick she should be well used to by now is Martin’s fault because he “provoked” the guy. WHEN DID HE DO THAT?? Seriously, who the fuck even is this girl I’m watching? She looks like Sam. But she can’t be Sam. Perhaps she’s a clone. Or a body snatcher that happened off screen that never came into play cuz they never did another crossover episode. Idk, but this Sam is pretty shitty and I don’t like her petty arrogance. If she’s calling Martin’s attempt to apprehend the criminal as is his (and all of theirs) JOB equal to that of “provoking the villain” I would have to label that a certified bruh moment. She’s so focused on wanting to make him look bad and inferior that she just keeps, blowing things out of proportion, being entirely illogical to the point where it borders on reckless(as in wasting valuable time to snipe at him and acting like she wants to be acknowledged as superior when there’s more important things to focus on), and is so prideful over her spy status and agency that it’s well into arrogance as though she knows everything or is above reproach even when he keeps proving her wrong or inaccurate. Alex causes an avalanche with her loud ass voice. So Sam, realizing her very life is now endangered with theirs, immediately does a frikkin 180 flip and frees his watch instead of continuing the mentally acknowledged slower capabilities of her device. They run for safety with no words of apology or gratitude or anything ever spoken by her (or Alex). Martin was once again right with his suggestion and statement of his gadget being better suited for a task but all he gets is hostility or silence over it. How nice. (plz note the sarcasm.) I would like it noted that Martin had no significant reaction over Sam and Alex’s bushy eyebrows other than the typical sort of surprised worry over actually turning Yeti.
The agents get a call from their bosses at the same time and said bosses get distracted from giving new intel upon seeing the other’s hologram and I’m certain they’re flirting. Like…maybe they just really admire the other’s work but…no. No they flirtin’. They wanna fuck, I’m sure. Which I mean….if M.O.M likes the silver foxes then great! Good for Jerry, he’s a lonely old man anyway. Alex and Martin don’t ship it tho. Alex then proceeds to say the most she’s spoken directly to Martin as they end up teaming up to fight the other yeti’s. She’s actually been weirdly rather quiet and unobtrusive mostly in this. Sam tells Martin to help her with one of his gadgets, an interesting development that I’m sure she’ll refuse to acknowledge that she actually needed, let alone asked for his help in saving some random people. Meanwhile Martin is showcased as being a nice boy by being panicked and worried for the safety of those Sam went to save as well as Sam herself despite her unwarranted bitchiness at him. Neat. Or maybe it was just for the innocent civilians and not actually Sam since Alex was the one verbally worried for just Sam?
Almost done with this shit show episode. I’m past the 19 minute mark and 9 pages in. I didn’t even talk about all the odd dialogue moments lol. Anyways, somehow, for some reason Martin isn’t scared of Clover at all while she looks like a full fledged yeti. In fact he almost looks enthralled. Maybe he’s a furry? The day is saved tho, yadda yadda, pretty sure it’s the next day, they’re all cured, there’s less than two minutes of this disappointment to sit through and would you believe it?! Martin is actually in their penthouse! He got invited into the girls’ home, GASP he might’ve even…been in one of their rooms!! But that’s not the most shocking part! Ooooh No.
There is the monumental dick move Clover tries to pull on her own best friend as a result of her self absorbed bitchiness this episode to consider.
Now…maybe…I’m just forgetful…but I’m pretty sure…Clover was not the type to steal a friend’s guy on purpose. Least of all a guy of one of her best friends. A guy she previously rejected even. She was aware of Alex being the only one of the three of them open/receptive in any way towards Martin. She had to know that Martin and Alex had been chatting each other up for a good while too. A conversation had to happen between the two, a lengthy one at that for Alex to bring up showing him her collection to actually going home and getting out said collection for him to view and talking about whichever ones grabbed his eye which I would put at 1 hour at the very minimum but likely was actually a few hours or more total if we wanna be realistic with how fast time goes when talking about common interests/hobbies with a new to be soon friend oooooorrrrrrrr a cute person you think you might like.
So theoretically establishing that Alex and Martin had been talking to each other and having other cute moments we didn’t get to see for a few hours, Clover decides to ignore all of that and comes on to him STRONG out of nowhere in a supremely rude manner. She interrupts Alex’s conversation with him without so much as an ‘excuse me’ or even an acknowledgement towards Alex. Nah, she just jumps on him to sit in his lap and get in his face to suggest a date. But the most surprising thing truly, cuz I actually expected him to fall for her ploy at least somewhat, was how Martin ‘lady-lover’ Mystery immediately rejected and dismissed Clover before even letting her finish what she had to say. And he was tactfully nice about it too!!!! He saw the potential and felt the chemistry with Alex and ignored the instant shallow crush he had for Clover on sight to focus on that since Alex was receptive to him. I dig it! I dig it hard, like that it was such a delicious moment of insight to his character potential romance wise and I’m irritated it didn’t last nor was brought up again or the fact that as far as we know they didn’t exchange numbers or emails or anything! I mean sure they could easily get the other’s contact via their agency or talking to the other’s boss and asking nicely…but we didn’t get to see or hear that!! He gets called for a mission and has to leave…and he left quickly leaving both himself and Alex sad. And what do her best friends have to say? Encouraging words? Optimistic cheering up? Pffft no. Those two ended the episode on the same note of petty bitchiness they began with. Sam was silently judging Alex and Martin with Clover, whom had a whole attitude over being rejected for Alex and aired how much said attitude stank by claiming “it’s for the best” that she’s missing out on a nice hot guy like Martin because he’s a “geek”. I mean…does she have selective memory or is she purposely in denial? She was JUST trying to get that so-called geek to date her and failed. And then Sam completely changes the topic, once again admitting behind Martin’s back that his agency’s methods seem better and like something she’d prefer. And that concludes my informal ‘essay’ of the episode crossover special: Totally Mystery Much. Lol.
Final thoughts? It sucked. Maybe you couldn’t tell because I was just oh so subtle or weren’t sure if I was just playing it up for laughs but I actually really don’t like this episode. It’s horrid and portrays the girls badly. When I first stumbled upon this episode online I thought it was fake, I was expecting for it to be a mash of editing from both shows by some fan to create an unofficial episode similar to how some people(used to) create disney crossover story episode amvs and such. Then as I continued I thought it was just really good fan animation as a few things looked off to me and found I mostly hated it but was still intrigued. Then I learned it was a real legit crossover and the one I watched was not edited in any way. Due to the issues I’ve had in having this typed up fully and posted my hatred and anger for it has cooled with the passage of time. But I still don’t like it. The most enjoyable part of the entire episode (in my opinion) is less than a minute long total and I still take issue with it. As previously discussed.
What I personally would have liked and expected from such a crossover is far different from what we got. I mean seriously different. For starters if it wasn’t a case where they start off being assigned to work together for a joint mission from the get go(likely an attempt of the agencies to open up more work relationships to do more work together for the good of the world or something) I’d think they all would have ran into each other briefly while as civvies or at least one of the girls meet Martin briefly and tell the other two about the silly hunk/cutie they met. Since I remember Martin tending to roam the area looking for clues when on a ‘out of town’ sort of mission which has lead to him meeting people. Then they bump into each other on a mission that somehow coincides with each other’s. A bit of enthusiasm on part of Martin and the girl(s) who’d briefly met followed by some skepticism on the other’s group likely brought on by Diana’s snide words, Java is blandly pleasant. Both groups call their respective boss’ to confirm the other’s identities, Martin confirming that the girls are legit agents from W.O.O.H.P while the girls confirm that The Center is real and Martin is trustworthy. Much flirting goes on between the girls and Martin(Java approves I’m sure), Sam eventually bows out of the (friendly)competition of winning over Martin (like how they used to do when they all liked the same guy remember?) in a pouty but graceful manner once she realizes that he’s not her preference academic wise and their interests are mainly only similar in certain historic topics that causes his attractiveness to dim in her eyes. Sam would also bump heads with Diana for being obviously smarter, more knowledgeable in most things and correcting Diana on some of the things she says(mainly to Martin) that aren’t accurate or just plain wrong which Diana clearly won’t appreciate since she enjoys believing that she’s the smartest in her age group. They have lil moments of trying to one up each other over academic or logical achievements. Clover takes a dislike of Diana due to thinking her rude and using Diana’s attitude as a way to flirt with Martin more. Alex ends up “winning” when its realized that she has the most in common with Martin, that is IF it becomes apparent only Alex will date Martin by the end of the special, and they promise to keep in touch(the 4 of them had exchanged numbers already). I only decided that Alex would have still been the best bet due to the crossover showcasing that(and the binge watch I did sometime ago) but really, in my perception of the girls any of them could have had a good relationship with him.
Martin with Clover would have been questionable with Clover mainly manipulating him into being how she wanted and getting what she wanted while still being sweet on him and having him improve his own image where he’s from or at least having a great popular image among her peers before getting to that. They’d at least be having fun being somewhat shallow together and overly romantic and sweet with ridiculous gestures and such as well as building their individual connections together to build a bigger network to utilize. Martin with Sam I felt would have been like the whole fetish of an unassuming attractive girl being super hot realized within the mind of Martin. I mean she’d be interested in helping him improve academically, searching for things they both enjoy and getting a kick out of teaching him while also being a bit exasperated when he’s more interested in trying to get a kiss than absorb the tutoring. He might even become a bit more grounded in “normalcy” when she explains to him the fascinating things in the world that seem odd/strange/supernatural but is not actually paranormal. Of course, she’d be interested in learning about the myths that are actually true and things about extraterrestrials that he knows as a way to open her mind to more possibilities and even more knowledge thanks to her clearance as a W.O.O.H.P agent. Martin with Alex would be a soft kind of goofy sweetness that I see them being practically domestic with each other due to how many things they’d potentially have in common and like to do. They’d pretty much do all the same things as before…but as a couple. Outside of the things they’d do for high fun or adrenaline I’d expect it to be very chill and relaxed and understandingly open. Alex would probably try to help him with his social awkwardness but find it cute or funny regardless. And if they ever met Jenni my hope is that they’d call her out for having no taste and nearly bullying Martin. But regardless of which girl he ends up with BOTH shows would make small mentions, give tiny hints, or even grant brief cameos of the fact the crossover happened and they all are in contact with Martin, him being in a relationship with one of them still or if they hadn’t started dating by the end of the crossover special then they were on the verge of long distance dating.
Just…Something like that, y’know? I just really wanted Martin to get some positive female attention, I had truly believed the Totally Spies girls would deliver on that if given the chance and this official crossover failed on that. Like..badly. Not really enjoyable to watch at all. I expected something nearly like an anime harem romcom and instead got a one sided dick measuring contest. Disheartening really, to see them be largely no better than those basic hive-mind no personality contradictory and petty bullying bitches he has around him at school and such. But I will say that as far as the ship opportunity they presented goes, I fully accept it. Seems like it’d be rifed with cuteness, honestly. I’m down for that.
I will also say that I feel robbed at not getting to see Martin insult Mandy, either accidentally or on purpose.
Thanks for reading! I hope this was worth it for those who’ve been waiting on it.

The Buildup for Mai and Ty Lee Turning on Azula
Looking back at the series, Mai and Ty Lee turning on Azula at the Boiling Rock was very well thought out, with several incidents involving all three Dangerous Ladies leading up to that climactic event. In the essay that follows, I’ll look at each key event in chronological order (for the most part), demonstrating how each point foreshadows “The Boiling Rock.”

Rewatching shows can be so fun. Like Code Lyoko!
Very 1st episode of season 1 and Sissi just...awoke and chose violence for real. Like I remembered the scene but it's just...😂 I know Sissi could be bitchy, she was typical arrogant mean girl for awhile...but they had her very 1st scene and appearance be her just straight up going ham on that one red headed little girl reporter for the school.
FOR NO REASON.
She really said her name is now Sissi the Bitchy McBitchenstein Esquire the 3rd. 🤣
She didn't have to make that little girl cry. But she did. She didn't have to insult her 25 times in a single conversation. But she wanted too.
She wasn't sorry about it either. And she'd do it again.
Sissi was straight up wildin right out the gate on this show.
Crazy.

Real quick 3 things!
1) I know the "Lyoko Warriors" were all hella committed to the group and the missions but from what I remember and am witnessing in my slow rewatch...Ulrich was the realist. Like...is his dedication even properly appreciated? Aside from all of them risking life and limb... So far as I've seen (and remembered) Ulrich in particular has: leveled with and helped Jeremy from day 1 with like no fuss; found a trustworthy member for their group(Yumi); continues his karate training with extra combat classes to continue performing his best in Lyoko; will put his stoic reserved self out there and suffer public embarrassment for even the chance of helping "the mission"; will make deals he detests with even Sissi to help his friends; has actually found his way to his friends to help them in Lyoko while suffering memory loss; has faked an injury in an important game he needed to win to gain approval from his (fanon theorized abusive) dad; had memorized an unclaimed winning lottery inorder to help his financially struggling friend inorder to keep the group as a whole, together; and of course the way he's just sorta always there for any of them and being encouraging even if he's feeling snarky.
I'd honestly like to see the UlrichxEmily timeline. Bro don't deserve the grief Yumi insists on giving him. Like I used to ship them fully despite how frustrating they were but Yumi was lowkey messy💅🏽
She literally strung him along in her confusion (and bcuz I think she liked that he liked her) and refused to talk feelings despite his confessions and efforts and the mixed signals she'd give. But anytime she's jealous over him seeming close to another girl she acts like an angry entitled girlfriend. Yet as I recall, had the nerve to be upset when he acted similar about William. Requiring Ulrich to gain forgiveness as YET when things are reversed its still Ulrich who has to gain forgiveness and explain himself.
I'm not caught up to William's time yet tho so maybe it's different from what I remember 🤔
Regardless it's made me more frustrated with Yumi because I don't think the fandom appreciates the emotional damage she's doing to this boy. Growing up I was frustrated with both but most others thought Ulrich was the problem from the start.
Like...No? Actually.
Ulrich, when tricked by Sissi, thought Yumi liked and confessed to him 1st. He was confused and concerned and ultimately a gentleman about it and took it seriously. Our boy actually took the time to REALLY think over his feelings and determination to proceed with something more with Yumi, someone he'd apparently hadn't really viewed that way before until he believed he was confronted by Yumi's "true feelings" from the girl herself.
Only for her to ignore his reciprocal confession with the reveal that she had never written him a written confession. Mortifying enough but the interaction happened in public where he was also loudly mocked by onlookers(and the culprit Sissi) which...woof. I currently have no words for how AWFUL it must feel.
And while Yumi vocalizes maintaining their friendship she never rejects him and gives him signs both subtle and nit that she's interested but anytime he tries to get an answer, attempts to communicate (despite the clear awkwardness and hesitation he has likely from that 1st confession) she tends to: ignore him, blow up at him, or pleads with him to drop the topic and for both of them to never speak of it if not try to forget it happened.
And I find it astounding how much of it I apparently don't remember because all I recalled b4 the rewatch is Ulrich confessing from a misunderstanding and getting turned down only for Yumi to start liking him back and not want to admit it. And Yumi being really damn weird jealous about Emily to then still not be with Ulrich after almost kissing him. AND HE STILL RESPECTS HER REQUESTS AND GOES AT HER SPEED DESPITE HIS INSECURITIES ON HOW SHE GOES ABOUT IT.
Clearly, kid me had good tastes when deciding he was my favorite.
~Anywho~
2) Sissi is pretty great as a character. Like other than the absolute savagery she'll display when choosing violence (as I've mentioned in a previous post) that girl shamelessly proclaims to all that she is not only an icon but also 🤌✨️ The Drama💅🏽✨️
It actually kinda took me until this moment:

to realize that maybe there was legit reasons for why it kept being implied and outright stated that she’s pretty much the most popular girl and considered one of the prettiest there. Pretty and popular enough to warrant her own fanclub somehow too.
And realizing all the bits of info they give of her makes it clear to me that Sissi is actually an interesting character. Unlike other popular mean girls the main cast doesn't like that I could name coughcoughMandyfromcoughTotallySpiescough
I mean they show she's not academically inclined but she's clearly capable of getting the necessary grades, she's a people person/social butterfly who knows how to persuade or even manipulate others, she has wit and some athleticism, and despite her blunt abrasiveness can actually be nice, helpful and caring. She's also a girl of her word.
So far as I can tell every time she makes a deal, even nasty ones she orchestrated, she keeps her word. Whether that's talking to her dad the principal on another's behalf, providing a role in a play to a girl she doesn't like inorder to help with her parental problems (Yumi), or being a distraction.
When someone is really hurt she's willing and wanting to help.
She got two weird little self professed fanboys wanting to follow her around and she actually gave them a chance to explain themselves (shown to be due to her vanity) and at some point actually befriended them to where she willingly hangs out with them in public and private, knows personal things about them and their interests/insecurities.
She's also pretty observant. And a little silly just cuz she can be.
It's a shame they didn't keep Theo in the time line where he was fast tracking to be Sissi's boyfriend.
How awesome would it be to have Sissi mellow out quicker, gain less and less interest in Ulrich romantically, and manage to keep the tentative almost friendship she wants to form with Ulrich and his group.
And before I forget, if She's the school cheerleader where are the other members??? There should be a squad.
And now 3!
Jim is kinda strange as a faculty member and teacher. Like he's obsessed with rules and quick to think the worst of the Lyoko gang for...what reason?
No seriously I don't get it. Especially when we're in the timeline where he caught Jeremy and Ulrich spray painting him as awesome royalty on a school wall.
Like most of the things they'd be in trouble for are reversed with time travel anyway so the amount of times they're seen sneaking or hanging out would be a fraction of the amount it actually is. Infact there were several moments of one of the kids being stopped by or observed by a overly suspicious teacher (typically Jim) when they aren't actually doing anything to cause alarm bells.
Like Yumi rushing from point A to an unknown point B with a book.
Or Jeremy reporting a trashed area and clearly upset by the shock.
Or Odd being accused of stealing a laptop when he could have just as easily been looking to use it while in the room-maybe sit on the floor since yknow you can DO that kinda thing with a laptop.
Or the group hanging out in the dorms outside of classes, even if its nice outside that isn't weird.
And all the kids have a decent to great reputation from their peers to their academics so why they get those looks and assumptions
at inappropriate times is just weird as hell to me.
#yeah I know it wasn't quick so what?#code lyoko#Sissi might be my new favorite lmao#Ulrich Stern is best boi#rewatching the series slowly still#things are funny#some things are a lil confusing to me#Yumi Ishiyama is lowkey giving toxic and I don't like that for her#lyoko warriors#the teachers are kinda weird#my thoughts#ranting ngl#lowkey venting#this is a good show still#sissi is savage and honestly hilarious#i enjoy observing these characters#so much personality#just some thoughts I had
