What if yuzuriha, wagner, and orie met their s/o in bbtag? What if the reader decides to stay with them and leave their own world behind? Either because they hated it or just a depressing reason.
I'd take that chance too, ngl. Anything to get out of this shitshow we live in right now.
Slight CW: Slight hints of abuse/neglect in Wagner's section
-Once Yuzuriha along with everyone else heard that the only way to build up enough energy for System to send them home was to fight, she was naturally pretty enthusiastic. It wasn't every day she'd get to fight people from other worlds entirely. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't at least somewhat excited.
-She fully expected to be fighting some pretty damn strong opponents along the way, as well as team up with equally powerful allies. However even knowing the circumstances she ever expected to find someone like you.
-It took quite a bit of time to build up enough energy by fighting, much more than expected. That left you and her plenty of time to get to know each other. She found you intriguing, even minus the fact you were from another world. Wasn't long before that intrigue turned to attraction, feelings you ended up returning.
-Unfortunately it wasn't meant to last, because eventually System had finally regained all of her power. She's beginning the process of sending everyone home before you intervene, saying you wanted to go to Kanzakai with Yuzu, taking both of them aback and asking you why.
-With a sigh you reveal that your life back home...wasn't the best. You opened up about alone you really were, having lost your family in an accident and grappling with your own hopelessness about your purpose in life. You figured perhaps maybe starting over somewhere else was the best solution, and you wanted it to be with the first person you'd truly connected with for the first time in what felt like forever.
-Yuzuriha didn't have the heart to turn you down. She was more than willing to take you in and give you a fresh start. When you wake up, it's clearly late at night, and you're on the ground near what seems like a shrine, one you obviously don't recognize.
-Yuzu is the first to call out to you as she wakes up too, introducing the place as the shrine she's duty-bound to protect that she's mentioned in passing during your time in the Phantom Field.
-She can talk more about that later. First order of business is introducing you to her sister and mother and showing you where you'll be sleeping. You can go out to see Kanzakai after you've gotten some rest.
-Unlike Yuzuriha, Wagner was noticeably less thrilled about the idea of fighting so much. Teamwork isn't exactly her strong suit and she'd already wasted her time enough in this place as is.
-She wasn't interested in the chit-chat some of the others were partaking in. If she was talking to someone, it was to either team up with them for a fight or challenge them. Nothing more, nothing less. This was however, until you came along.
-For whatever reason you wanted to stick by her for more than just your first battle together. Wagner inexplicably started feeling this way too. Of course if you asked her she just said you were a fierce ally in battle, but that was only a surface reason.
-She eventually lets it slip. Being near you made her feel something she'd never felt before. Looking at you, especially when you smiled at her, made her heart suddenly start to beat faster and her face to feel warm, a very different kind of warm from her fire powers. It felt...warm and pleasant, and it confused her.
-Well the cat was out of the bag now, she had fallen for you whether she liked it or not. She was more than thankful that instead of laughing at her or taking advantage of her feelings that you returned them.
-Of course that only made it painful to have to go back to her home world much to her annoyance, at least until you stepped in saying you wanted to go back to Erika's world with her.
-Upon asking why you explained your...less than ideal family situation. They weren't the best people to be raised by for a number of reasons. It really screwed with you as a person in a lot of ways and you wanted nothing more than to get away from it. If it meant having to leave to another world, so be it.
-She was understandably furious at the revelation. She almost wanted to head back to your world instead just to teach them a lesson. She couldn't though, unlike you she had duties and business back home, pretty important ones at that. Yet that wouldn't stop her from bringing you home with her. It was likely for the best anyway.
-Upon passing out and waking up, you find yourself in the middle of a park in a rather large city with Erika waking up next to you. She can't take you to Licht Kreis HQ unfortunately. Even if she was their 4th Executor, non-personnel are not allowed on base.
-She opts to take you to the house she'd been given on her "rehabilitation" mission. She'll calm down Silvaria later once she inevitably finds out about you, the first order of business is getting you acquainted to an entirely new world.
-Orie's sort of in the middle when it comes to her stance on the fighting. She wasn't the biggest fan but she realized it was necessary if she wanted to get herself and everyone else caught up in all this Phantom Field business home so she readily took up her blade and fought anyone that would accept a duel...or... 2v2 fight.
-You were one of her first partners. She'd come across people she didn't know but they were from your world so you had some valuable intel on them that helped lead to victory. She admired your battle prowess even outside of that so she saw no harm in forming a bonafide team with you.
-Something began to happen though as you continued fighting. The way you always had her back, showed grace to your opponents no matter what, and the way you showed concern for her if you thought she was injured, she started to feel differently about you. Eventually, no matter how she spun it, there was no mistaking what it was.
-It took a really....really...really long time for System to regain power, she wasn't kidding when she emphasized the 'slowly' part during her explanation. It was long enough that you two managed to find out about each other's mutual feelings.
-It's a real shame when the time inevitably comes that System has replenished the proper power to send everyone home. At least that's what Orie is thinking until out of nowhere you ask System to send you to Kanzakai with her.
-Naturally she questions you on this decision, and you now have to tell her about your home; it's been ravaged by war, for quite a while now at that. A good majority of your world, including your home has been all but turned to wasteland where simple day to day survival was a cutthroat competition.
-Orie's heart sinks when she learns what your world was like, that someone so good had to live in a world so bad. It's a pretty easy decision for her to let you go to Kanzakai with her for the sake of giving you a better life, to give you the salvation you deserve.
-The moment you're teleported and wake up in Kanzakai, you almost start crying. It had been long since you'd last seen such a grand pristine city, last seen people living peacefully together without having to worry about where their next meal would come from or if they would even see the sun rise again. Far too long...
-Orie sees this and immediately asks if anything's wrong, you have to calm her down. Nothing is wrong with you. In fact they've never been better.

Annon-Guy: Is BlazBlue Alternative Dark War canon to BlazBlue or is it purely a Spin-Off title like KOF All-Stars?
Wikipedia mentions BB Alternative is set in an alternate timeline, but BlazBlue, XBLAZE, Bloodedge Experience and BBTAG are already in their own timelines/worlds.
Canonicity works a little differently in the BlazBlue universe as far as I understand, simply BECAUSE each is set in different Timelines.
It's not that it's not canon, it just has its own separate Timeline within the canon.
Dark War, obviously takes place during the Dark War, so in BlazBlue's main timeline it takes place a good 100 years before Calamity Trigger's events, technically speaking.
There are still a few aspects of Dark War that take place AFTER Central Fiction's events too... depending on the characters involved.

I 100% agree with your tags about what could have made EE look a little better. I really didn't mind RR as much as EE probably because it at least retained the Blazblue aesthetic and style. RR felt like a weird knockoff Blazblue game, BBDW was an actual Blazblue VN dressed up as a gatcha game (my possibly unpopular opinion is that if BBTAG can be considered a legitimate part of the series so can BBDW), EE doesn't even feel like a knockoff it just feels like Blazblue characters in a completely unrelated game. And from what has been revealed about EE's story this may literally be the case as in that is the whole plot. That I feel is what specifically gives off the "parading around the corpse of the Blazblue franchise" feel to me.
A quick salt warning; I aim to fall somewhere in the range of neutrality on this blog, particularly when dealing with Entropy Effect. I want people to be able to enjoy the game fairly and to feel safe sharing that excitement here! I'm willing to try to meet the game on fair, even ground. That said, when it comes down to my own biased feelings, I would've married BBDW if I could've, and I already have some pretty strongly negative feelings about the studio behind Entropy Effect. So I have a bad taste in my mouth about this upcoming game. I don't plan on being particularly harsh in this post, but I will be sharing my uncensored opinions here. No disrespect meant.
Now. Carl. Oh my god, Carl. I'm dying, Carl.
I played Revolution Reburning while waiting for BBDW to launch, trying to scratch the "upcoming game hype" itch, and the gameplay was super fun! But damn did it leave me with a serious hatred for the game itself and the studio behind it. The game has a story mode that is poorly translated, horribly bastardized/watered down, and just... just really bad. I'd respect it as a fan game, but the fact that it's a legitimate thing just pushes my buttons too damn much. Call it a pet peeve.
Again, the game is fun! It's cool! I really enjoyed playing it! There is not an ounce of doubt in my mind that Entropy Effect will be fun as hell, because this studio knows how to make a fun game.
But I really, really wish they weren't involved in BlazBlue. As I mentioned elsewhere, a lot of my rage comes from this sense that what I personally love about the BlazBlue series [the story, the setting, the world Mori has crafted since his youth] has been placed in a zero-sum game against another totally enjoyable aspect of the series [gameplay, and if I'm feeling bitter, the whims of ArcSys's marketing team.] It's not like these two facets actually need to be opposed to one another. Hell, they should be flourishing in tandem. But after everything that happened with BBDW and Mori leaving the studio, I can't let go of the idea that projects that focus more on gameplay and consumer appeal [such as EE] are being pursued "instead of" or "at the cost of" the parts of the series I love the most. So. I get salty. I do, genuinely, hope that time proves me wrong on this.
You, Carl, mentioned EE's story. Like you said, everything we've seen of it so far suggests this isn't even a real "spinoff" title for BlazBlue, in the sense that spinoffs like RR and CrossTag told their stories using the same building blocks as BlazBlue's setting. I personally don't interpret them as existing within the same canon, but they're undoubtedly using the same material.
Entropy Effect's story and setting seem to be entirely original. They look interesting, but I'm stuck with this feeling of "why the hell did they make this a BlazBlue title, and not just an original one?" Maybe when the game releases it will surprise me and I'll understand, but at the moment, with my current levels of saltiness, it feels like a heartless cash grab.
We know there's some level of turbulence behind the scenes at ArcSys around the BlazBlue IP, since BBDW's failure and Mori's suspicious departure. We also know that in the current media landscape, a lot of executive heads are rampantly refusing original projects and insisting on pumping out installments of franchises that already have a name and a following. I don't have any information on whether or not ArcSys is struggling with this, but it's been a growing problem in the gaming industry for years now.
The worst case of this in my memory is the Dead Rising franchise, another one of my all-time favorite games. Differing visions for the franchise and an unwillingness to support new properties let to an absolute mess on the development side of things, and ultimately the death of the series.
Note; If you're interested in what happened to Dead Rising, Did You Know Gaming has a wonderful video on it.
With that experience in my memory, I'm worried about the future of BlazBlue. I wonder if it was always the plan to make Entropy Effect a BlazBlue title, or if it was originally pitched as its own IP, but rejected unless it could be tied in to an established franchise.
#ao no kokagami#I also suffer from the fact that I am not a roguelite or roguelike fan or a real scifi fan#so even if this game was its own ip I'm just not primed to be invested in it#personally I hate crosstag because though it takes its story from established bb elements#I feel that it massively dropped the ball on every character in its roster#minus the UNIB or additional DLC casts whom I am unfamiliar with and therefore can't have an opinion on#and I feel like the BB elements it did use were poorly written and watered down#I was also really excited for the potential of such an hyped crossover that I feel the game failed to deliver on#tldr my opinion on crosstag is that it's a Smash Bros to Fire Emblem situation#I would have preferred it didn't carry the BlazBlue title so heavily and instead marketed itself as the ArcSys crossover game I feel it was

I'm in one of those "I need to gush about this thing I'm passionate about" kind of mood, even if no one really understands why, but man...
Gordeau's design in Under Night In Birth is not just in my top ten favorite anime/video game designs of all time. He has my favorite design PERIOD.
Maybe I'm just another one of those girly girls that likes good looking anime men...but like, look at him!
The color choices for him is perfect. I love that they used purple and black for most of his design. In BBTAG, they even tinted his hair with a slight shade of purple which is so cool, and the scratches on his scythe is also an amazing touch. Showing that Gordeau has been in many battles and is an experienced fighter.
I love that he wears long, combat boots. This is probably because I like seeing the curving of a character's calves and especially for anime men. This is really hard to come by unless they are wearing something like long, combat boots (I hope this doesn't come off as weird).
Even smaller things like his bangs covering one eye, the back of his trench coat being torn in two, how tight the trench coat is around his arms, his cuffs, even the curves the trench coat gives him (Though obviously, he doesn't have any.)
I love his trench coat, but I always thought trench coats were sexy, and to top it off. His scythe is twice his size, which is something I personally love in anime and video games.
And his abs, his six pack, yes it's sex appeal, but I feel like not having him wear a shirt has more of a purpose because he is wearing the trench coat. French Bread could have been like "Let's just make him shirtless AND trench coat-less" if they really wanted to, but they didn't do that. I like it when a character is designed in a way to show their chest or six-pack that's not just clearly fan service. I feel like if Gordeau was wearing a shirt here, it would actually hinder the design.
All this gushing over Gordeau's design and I haven't even mentioned his amazing backstory, his voice (Both of them, JP & ENG) his job as a bartender, and his role as a wandering mercenary.
This is probably going to be my favorite design for a character for a REALLY long time! Maybe until I die, who knows!
I wanted to gush, I'm sorry, Gordeau is so cool and he needs to be protected.

For the character ask game: Yu Narukami and/or Kanji Tatsumi
There is no "or"
send a character
Yu Narukami
How I feel about this character
The Yu that exists in my head at this point is only distantly related to any canon iteration but man I like that goober.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Yochuke <3<3<3 Adacky :3 Pretty much any Yu ship can be sold to me tbh he just goes well together with so many people. Power of bonds <3 Best girl Hisano x Yu fanfic when
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I would feel insanely guilty if I named any IT member over the others so Nanako ofc <3 God I am so weak to overbearing, protective older siblings. Yu sees his own past loneliness in Nanako and goes Not On My Watch he went and fixed her (/j)
My unpopular opinion about this character
Yu in the anime, Yu in Dancing and Arena (and BBtag) and Souji in the manga are like different characters, not to mention the stage play and whatever we get out of the silent protagonist in the game, so I think it's pretty useless to argue about what Yu is "canonically". He loves his family and friends, that's consistent. He is what you want him to be pretty much. I have my own set ways but I'm not too picky about how others depict him, I've read some very different Yus. Sometimes he's even been an asshole. That's fun <3
Is FFN still up I could try to find that one unfortunate post-ghosting-breakup Sounao fic.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
Better dialogue options for Naoto's social link good god I do not want to say any of that
Kanji Tatsumi
How I feel about this character
It is CRIMINAL that my heart decides my favorite characters indtead of my brain because Kanji is best boy. Good guy. Solid dude. Great chum.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Naoto mainly <3<3 Soukan can be good too but I'm not too actively into it for obvious reasons. Yosuke preventing the NICE gays from getting together in peace smh 🙄
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Yu and Rise <3<3 Yu is just good for everyone and I lovve the theoretical first-year solidarity that the trio has in my head and briefly in P4D featuring Teddie who I forgot exists again godd dammit.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I don't really have any? Kanji is bi or pan but even that is popular enough despite being contested.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
It's gonna be about Naoto again they have good moments but I'm always in need of more Kannao where Naoto is nice or appreciative to Kanji. Like it happens but it could happen MORE lol. ALSO ALSO ALSO CAN HE PEEEASE GET FRIENDS WHOARE NICE ABOUT HIS HOBBIES!!! "Sure you're a weirdo and a creep but we can still hang" DOESN'T COUNT

Btw if you’re wondering who else was there, the leaks also mentioned Team JNPR, Roman, Cinder, Emerald, and Sun, along with Neo who actually did get in. RWBY was the only franchise who didn’t have a fighting game made by ArcSys, so it had the least amount of fighters, due to BBTag being made mainly to be a reused asset game.
After players data mined Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, they discovered announcer files for multiple characters, one of which being Adam.
While the validity of these characters actually being planned is questionable due to the sheer amount, I think Adam would’ve been very cool to see. But mostly I think it would’ve been funny if the only way we would’ve gotten an interaction between Weiss and Adam would be through a spin-off game

It is the birthday of the man I have sworn to defend to the ends of the Earth
Not because I find him funny or inspiring or cool even, it's because of what his story means.
I mentioned it before, but Blazblue has made me question a lot of things. Like, "How much should being family be an excuse for shitty behavior?" and stuff like that.
I have a lot of OP Ragna AU stuff and I will share some of them now
It basically involves my OP!OC dragging him across the multiverse all while slowly deconstructing and questioning his worldview, with the aid of Ragna meeting people who care about him as himself and not how he serves/leases them. All with an upgraded Azure Grimoire that allows him to absorb other powers from the various universes. All so he can figure out what he wants to do with his life, and return to his world w/o the risk of being the central fiction and causing time loop BS.
The worlds are basically whatever franchise I think fits. While Shows like Naruto and One Piece I don't know much about and I usually pick my friend's brain about them they have plenty of cool powers to borrow from but they may also not be good for reconstructing Ragna's mindset. Western shows like Gravity Falls and Steven Universe however might have that kind of character introspection that would get me to this point. I imagined him going to the world of Fairy Tail and having him gain Black God Slayer Magic (Like Sting's White Dragon Slayer Magic which allows him to gain power from consuming anything white) to be a bit more expansive than just Shadow God Slayer Magic. Plus adding Black Beast power would make the Black God's Bellow (Their roar attack) to "Black beast's Bellow" for some alternative appeal. Going to the Naruto world would involve him learning to manifest the Black Beast's power in a way similar to the Chakra Modes Naruto has, etc. Not every world grants new powers some of them would give new ideas with how to utilize the new powers.
The other/older idea was a rewrite/continuation of BBTAG where Ragna gets Shadow and Void powers and that creates a Superpowered Evil Side who starts to think that his friends and family suck after getting new friendships from the other worlds but the crossing over post -CF is kind of the idea I've stuck with for so long.
I'm not exactly trying to break him into going evil (although there are a lot of mental breakdowns and a P5-style Palace in my idea) but I am hitting a stone wall. The big issue I have is "Can I imagine the rest of the Blazblue cast changing for Ragna?" Not just having Noel cry about it, or them pulling an "I will fight for you b/c you are family, even though you kind of suck" with Jin, or "Because Rachel may love him that makes her tsundere attitude fine".
I just don't like the idea of friendships where they do nothing but argue and insult one another unless some dramatic shit is going on. Ragna enduring all this BS for people who treat him like a joke at best and a monster at worst isn't inspiring or cool it is sad.
You guys can yell at me all you want about how I am essentially breaking the character into something he isn't. But I don't care, that's kind of the point.
Sorry if this was all over the place but I HAD to post something for Ragna's B-Day and this idea is kind of the big Ragna thing on my mind recently.

Broke: Neo having Roman's hat in her finishes means Roman's not gonna be playable in BBTAG b/c he's dead
Woke: Neo having Roman's hat in her finishes means she's just stealing his hat again cuz she's actually trying to find him in the BBTAG story mode :)
Bonus: She’s hanging out with Hazama b/c he reminds her of Roman. Hazama's gonna find Roman and ask, "I believe you lost your child." with Neo in tow. Then Hazama and Roman become friendly rivals ala Goku and Vegeta ^.^
#rwby#bbtag#neopolitan#roman torchwick#hazama#mine#neo's bio didn't reference her being in mourning at all#it didn't even mention roman#so chances are this is the beacon era of Neo#ten bucks she's trying to find roman in the story mode

If you haven't answered this before, how did you get into guilty gear, and when?
I've talked about it a little in my tag ramblings before but the whole story's kinda funny so it's about time I shared it hahah
So, I've known about Guilty Gear since at least 2013 when I found Holy Orders posted somewhere. For the life of me I cannot remember where I actually first heard it (probably Tumblr) but I REALLY liked it, it was so different from anything else I'd heard up until that point. I was broke as shit in 2013 and my only option to listen to it more was to pirate it. The only download I could find was the GGXX Sound Alive album by A.S.H., but that album's really good, which is fine. Somehow I still actually have the files from that original download lol.
I didn't look into the games back when I downloaded that album but I don't think I would've enjoyed the series as much back then anyway. It was right near the end of my "anime is stoopid I'm so cool and edgy and only consume media for ADULTS" doofus phase. Isn't that hilarious to look back at?
Anyway, fast forward to December 2020. One of my friends wanted me to get into BBTag and IIRC Sony was having some kind of Japanese devs focused sale at the time. I still have the text I sent when looking up BBTag where I saw the Xrd Sign box art and I said something along the lines of "Idk who this Sol Badguy is but he looks like a me character." We've since gone back and pinned it in our group chat. It was like the klaxon going off before a big storm, in hindsight lol.
Then Strive came out last year. Our D&D group's DM got it (he comes from Street Fighter) and then the friend who wanted me to look into BBTag got it. He asked me one day if I wanted to watch the story mode with him since it was only us online and I wasn't doing anything so I agreed. I'm so grateful they included that encyclopedia for the story mode because we had to pause it every line 5 minutes to figure out what something meant haha.
The actual scene that REALLY got me hooked was when most of the cast are in the White House briefing room before Chaos shows up and they start talking about sending agents out or whatever. IIRC they mention agent Dokken first and I was like "Haha! Like the band!!" and then they mentioned agent Stryper and I was like "Holy shit they really did actually mean the band." I've got albums from those two on cassette lol. After that my friend and I went through the encyclopedia and I told him about all the classic rock references lmfaoooo
Now here we are. My brain is so rotted by this series but so many beautiful mushrooms have grown out of that mush in my skull that I've accepted it.
#asks#It's even funnier going back through my old blog and seeing the like 5 GG posts I went and dug up#after finding Holy Orders#Maybe I'll go get them and reblog them over here for the shiggles later#One was a Zappa gif of his idle pose and I think there was some Nainsoo Sol art

So as I learn more about fighting games and their workings, and as I play a variety of games to round out my knowledge, I'm finding more tools I enjoy in characters. It started with me transitioning from bbtag to gear and then broadening my horizons further. The more I play and read and watch higher-level players do things the more I see in characters and moves. In this case I wanna call special attention to some more characters in gear. As of right now my goal is to at least understand all the basic and advanced combos in Xrd, because the last few times I made a breakthrough in the combo theory and game plan of my actual main were met with a fun round of "Let's ban splits' best character." My experience and knowledge of one particular character that I've talked about before eventually led me to this other one, and her kit has a lot going on so I won't go into extensive detail on all of her tools like I did with Anji, but today I want to talk about Baiken.
Baiken's kit has a ton of moving parts, and they give her lots of options.
First off she has a move where she slams a tatami mat to the ground that launches opponents that don't block it right. This opens you for jump strings very easily if it lands.
A lot of her normals aren't anything too, too special, but I'd like to make mention of her 2H and 5K for advancing forward as she attacks. These occasionally let you catch someone or move into range and make adjustments to spacing while putting out a hurtbox.
Now here's a fun little detail about Baiken's kit; she has a Rekka*. Not just one rekka either. She has, in order:
A rekka out of her 63214K, which advances to the opponent with mid-high auto-guard, with a followup for every button including Dust.
A rekka out of her command grab, with different followups tied to most of her buttons but not kick.
A command parry in place of her blitz shield, that rekkas the same followups as her 63214K with slightly different, usually better frame data.
A midair command parry with its own special rekka followups. Notably, all of her command parries can also be canceled into block as well.
She also has a set of motion input specials and supers that only come out after using her command parry. Additionally, she has an air dp** that allows for some oppressive high/low mix if you can Tiger Knee*** it. Her dust followup for Suzuran and Azami is also a low-flying projectile, making it so you can't low-profile**** it.
She has a ton of tools, and she does have a reversal, but it's metered, so you have to be careful with it. Additionally a lot of her supers are really versatile, not excelling at any one thing, but offering options for any situation.
When I first started playing Gear, I tried all the characters and their moves and decided that the one I really liked was Axl, for his range, angle coverage, and his ability to poke and prod at defenses from far away. At the time I had glanced at Baiken, tried her kit, and decided it was too complicated and too hard;I'm very glad I gave her a second chance with more experience and knowledge under my belt, because she blew me away with just how many tools are available for her. There feels like no end to how much you can do to keep your opponent guessing, as you play offense and defense in one fell swoop, and I think that makes her really fun.
Brief glossary of used terms:
*Rekka: A special move that has a series of other special moves locked behind it, that can be used in multiple orders or stopped in the middle of the sequence.
**DP: Short for "dragon punch." Can refer to a move that is invincible and used as a reversal, or the zigzag motion input that the original Dragon Punch used.
***Tiger Knee: A technique in which you modify the input for an aerial-only special move so that the input is done on the ground, and comes out the instant you jump, allowing you to perform midair specials on the ground.
****Low-Profile: Using a move or attack that positions your character sprite or model so that the hurtbox is extremely low to the ground, allowing you to duck under moves you otherwise couldn't. Often used for fireballs and higher-reaching pokes.
#baiken#guilty gear#guilty gear xrd#xrd#fighting game glossary#fighting games#axl low#seriously though#she has a lot of options#it's kind of insane

BBTAG Special Interactions: Emil and Amane
Annon-Guy: Here’s a special interaction for Emil and Amane.
================================================
Intro
Amane: “Now then, let us see the splendid dance of the Great Summon Spirit Ratatosk!”

Amane: “ My my, you process a great blend between being cute and handsome at the same time. Not to mention your spectacular talent on the stage itself. What do you say Lord Emil, do you wish to join our Troupe?”
Emil: “Um… thank you for the offer Amane, but Im perfectly content being with my friends. Not to mention I don’t know how to dance very well to begin with…”

Exclusive interview with Arc System Works
We have had the opportunity to interview several key members of Arc System Works. Before we begin, we want to thank Arc System Works America for giving us the opportunity to have this interview.
We will divide the interview into 3 sections: "General", "Daisuke Ishiwatari" and Tosimichi Mori.
General
Q. The first question is going to be a tough one, but the community has been very vocal about it so we would really want to begin with this one. Will GGPO (Good Game Peace Out) be implemented in your next projects? If not, would you consider its implementation at some point in the future? We are not talking specifically about Guilty Gear Strive.
A. We’ve heard your passionate requests, and we’re working on a netcode that will live up to everyone’s expectations.
We’ll have more information for you later.
(Guilty Gear Strive Director: Akira Katano)
Q. Fighting games aside, do Arc System Works has plans to do more action games like Hard Corps in the future? Especially with the Guilty Gear engine. We recently saw Code Shifter as your latest brand new platform action game or your collaboration with Wayforward, which are always welcome.
A. We’d definitely like to try genres other than fighting games, such as action games.
This would include plans to use Arc System Works’ 2.5D animation style in non-fighting games, of course.
However, we don’t have any concrete plans to share at the moment.
(Producer: Takeshi Yamanaka)
Daisuke Ishiwatari:
Q. Thank you so much for taking the time for our questions. Since the announcement at EVO, we are really excited to know more about Guilty Gear Strive, and we have read all the interviews and your philoshophy about this game and its gameplay. So, what would you consider to be the lead factor for this change?
A. Thank you for your excitement about Guilty Gear Strive.
The biggest reason for changing the gameplay is to make a game that can reach the current generation of gamers.
I feel that through previous Guilty Gear titles, we have more or less perfected the Guilty Gear formula.
It may very well be possible to tighten that up and make a further refined game. But, even if we did, such a game would create a disparity between new players and veterans who are used to the game’s systems.
So, we wanted to reset the start line for everyone. But of course, this doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten our appreciation and respect for long-term fans and accomplished players.
Q. One of the main focus seems to be drawing the attention for new players and esports while adapting the HUD and the gameplay/action to everyone so it can be enjoyed by a wider audience. That´s interesting, but how will you make new players invest time in your game and wanting to improve their skills at their own pace? For example Granblue Fantasy Versus could be a good example since it has a big focus on its RPG Mode to do so in case beginners are not doing well while playing online.. Will you take a new approach this time with the Story Mode or single player content?
A. I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you anything concrete at the moment.
However, the game will offer an experience of learning and discovery for both new and advanced players. Our game design is even more focused on that now, than ever.
I can’t guarantee that it will make it into the game, but we are also thinking of ways to further strengthen the community.
For example, currently most players aren’t very familiar with the top players.
But if they realized there were stars similar to Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather playing the game, wouldn’t they want to know how that person got so skilled?
We’d like to provide something to help players who aren’t too deeply into the game a way to enjoy it as a whole, like fans do with soccer or basketball.
Q. As of today, we know that you are gathering feedback regarding the main points of the new gameplay so I´ll save it for later, but as for the music, we are noticing a lot of emphasis on vocal tracks. Will this be the Guilty Gear with the biggest number of vocal tracks? will we get new versions of themes like “Holy Orders” or “Give me a break!?
A. Yes, I believe GGST will feature more vocal tracks than any prior title.
That is one of our many decisions in attempting a complete renewal.
We aren’t currently planning vocal arrangements of previous songs, however.
The only example I can think of where that went well would be Queen’s Seven Seas of Rhye.
Of course, if there were enough requests, there are songs I would love to create vocal versions of.
Q. A lot of people are requesting characters from past games like Testament or Bridget, but of course, we know that you can´t confirm any detail by the moment. However, I would like to know if we could get just a small hint about past fighters coming back to the scene.? Can we expect more original characters to be added to the game besides the cyborg samurai from the first teaser?
A. All I can say is, there will be characters from the previous series and this new character too. Please look forward to it!
Q. About the gameplay, as I said earlier, I believe that it's necessary to wait until the beta version for us to have a proper idea about it. Since I still haven´t had the chance to play the game I can just express my opinion as a spectator. I believe the overall gameplay seems interesting according to what you want to achieve but doesn´t the wall break mechanic interrupts the flow of the match a bit too much for the spectators? I feel the same with restricting combo routes, won´t it be monotonous if we ever watch the same, or really similar routes?
A. Don’t worry. The developers are creating GGST with both a casual and hard-core perspective in mind. There may be some aspects that don’t quite satisfy series veterans, but we will create new depth that will motivate them to learn something entirely new.
Also, even if the Beta Test is not well received, you will see our answers to your feedback in the game upon release.
Finally, could you share some words and thoughts to your fans in Spain?
Currently, we are steadily releasing news about GGST. However, the gameplay itself is still very much in development. Our plan is to continue to evolve the game as we receive feedback from the players. Please look forward to it.
Toshimichi Mori:
Thank you so much for giving us the chance to give an answer to our questions. We have read everything that could lead to a future Blazblue or Persona 5 Arena so I´ll try to make interesting questions for everyone.
Q. First of all, I would like to start with Blazblue Alternative Dark War. Will it be possible for you to share some more details about it? Last time I heard from the game I was taking notes at the London Comic Con. If you can´t share any details, could you give us a hint about when could we know more about the game? Also, I love the sketches that you publish from time to time!
A. Thank you very much.
However, I can’t say much about Dark War right now--only that I, personally, am working so that you guys can play the game as soon as possible. I believe that as long as the players are supporting the project, it will move forward. So please keep talking about it.
Q. Talking about the London Comic Con from last year, I remember that I asked about Alpha 01 and you said that this year we should have news, but this year I want to add something else to the same question. Besides Alpha 01, when could we know something about Gamma 03 as well?
A. I’m really glad that for whatever reason, so many people like Alpha.
I understand some are really looking forward to her making an appearance, but it will be some time… So please wait a little longer.
Q. As of June of 2018 you said in an interview with Gamerevolution that you are saving ideas for future Blazblue and future Persona Arena Projects. Also, in an interview with Gearnuke (January 2020) you said that you would like that your next game will be 2.5D and that the next Blazblue will have new system mechanics. Taking all of this into account, could you please give us further details about what would you like to achieve with a new Persona Arena (which people are really vocal about it) or Blazblue project?
A. I appreciate your enthusiasm. However, I can’t really discuss anything at this moment. Please understand.
Q. Moving on to Blazblue Cross Tag Battle and talking about the same interview from Gearnuke, we read that companies are not approaching you to add their characters in the game. Have you considered “small” companies like Nihon Falcom or Vanillware to see beloved characters like Adol Christin from the YS series or Gwendolyn from a cult classic like Odin Sphere? I feel that they are characters that most of us known or we have heard of but they still didn´t have the chance to shine outside of their games.
A. I get a lot of requests for characters in BBTAG. Honestly, there’s lots of characters I would like to include, myself.
I won’t say it’s impossible for the characters you mentioned to join the cast, but we don’t have any plans for this at the moment. Regardless, I would really like to do some form of collaboration in the future.
Q. Sticking with Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, will we see more characters from RWBY or Senran Kagura? Is there a chance to see Persona 5 characters in the game (unless a Persona 5 Arena is in the works of course) or Kyoko and Misako from River City Girls?
A. We’ve just released Season 2, so we don’t have any definitive plans for the next characters yet.
Right now, we’re still thinking about the next step and listening to everyone’s requests as we work with the current version.
Going back to Blazblue main story, now that the phase C came to an end, and with Rachel´s words being “I shall find you, I promise” at the end of Blazblue Central Fiction… Will we get a follow up to this arc, or it will be a completely new arc? Also, are you planning to do another anime or manga?
A. We are preparing for the start of a new story… Sadly, I can’t guarantee when it will happen. I think that when that new chapter begins, you will understand what Rachel meant.
Finally, could you share some words and thoughts to your fans in Spain?
Thank you for loving the BlazBlue series.
I can feel that love you have, so I hope I can meet all of you in person someday. Thank you for your continued support.
