Haru stops and stares at Xanxus and thinks to herself, 'how did he know?' She didn't talk about it to others so how did he find out?

'He doesn't want me to mess with his number?' That's 10, right? Haru goes over her mental list again and looks very skeptical. The ranking list Haru had was one where she listed people by how much of a jerk or a menace she percieved them to be, so she would do well to avoid them in the future. 'He thinks he should rank 10?' There is no way. He should be top 5 at the very least, right?

He's behind Leviathan and Dr.Shamal at least, be grateful for that.

There's so many other things Jason should be doing at the moment. Breakfast, dishes, exercise. He's got things to do today: patrol, check-ins with the gang, weapon maintenance in the arsenal stored in that bitch of an attic.

Instead, he writes a line on a piece of paper. Then with a shaky exhale, writes another and sticks it on the fridge.

Two simple sentences.

Thanks for doing the laundry. Do you have a name?

Once upon a time, Jason Todd died. He had a funeral and then six months later, he crawled out of a grave, without even the decency to become a proper zombie.

He probably could have, he mused as he dissemble and reassembled his favorite gun without opening his eyes. He probably could have, if someone hadn't kidnapped him.

What Talia's plan had been at the time, Jason wouldn't care to guess, but she drowned him in a Lazarus Pit and then set him up with League tutors and tossing him at the monks of the All-Caste.

Fuck he'd still been such a stupid teenager. But well, aren't all teenagers?

Most teenagers manage to not land themselves a chronic anger management issue.

Jason kept a handle on it. Most of the time. He hadn't had black-out murder rages in months. His murder and crimes were mostly premeditated.

He kept in contact with his friends, occasionally chatted with his family and was slowly reconciling with them. Some more than others. It was awkward when he started noticing all was not well on the personal front.

The thing is, when you know you've blackouts before, have lost time and were trained by Batman in being a detective? You notice patterns and changes real fucking quick.

The mob was being more polite. He didn't remember meeting them lately.

His closet ended up with tailored suits. A tailor was on his payroll now. He didn't remember doing that.

He had mystically enhanced ammo and the exhausted fugue state after making it. He didn't remember ordering the equipment to make his own ammo.

His bathtub smelt strange. 12 fucking hours on laundry. His dryer had been used but not the washer. Nothing was damp.

The pits still seethed under his skin.

He did not need more crazy in his head. If he was getting a split personality, he wanted to know. Since clearly other-him was smart enough to spend money and do shit he had no idea how to do. The mystical ammo mocked him with its existence.

Two tense days later, as he checked the note on the fridge he had his answer.

Xanxus, the name read.

Written in bold strokes, the sort of calligraphic handwriting he had never learned. Jason wrote in cursive, but not like that.

That was a statement of a name.

Xanxus.... the name of the pit demon that lived under his skin. Which would explain why Jason still got bouts of Pit Madness. He was possessed.

Jason should be doing so many other things at the moment. Breakfast, dishes, exercise. Getting an exorcist. Seeing if a Pit Demon could be exorcised.

Instead Jason wrote another note.

And started a friendship with the demon under his skin.

I used prompt 10 from Day 11 of the event, tickling for the Varia. This was a fun one to think about and I hope you’ll all enjoy what I’ve come up with, my lovelies!

To tickle my muse

Xanxus

Xanxus is not ticklish, honestly. Like, not in the least bit ticklish. Someone could try to tickle him in any way they could possibly try and they won’t get the slightest laugh, giggle, nothing out of him…well, not in response to the tickling. They would get a reaction for touching him though and it would be a violent one. Please don’t try to tickle him, for your own safety.

Now, Xanxus will never set out to tickle someone. He just doesn’t see the point of it. He’s not purposefully going to try to tickle someone, even his partner. If he figures out that his partner or a close friend is really ticklish, he’s not going to even think about taking advantage of it. It’s just not something that will occur to him.

When he does figure out there are certain ticklish spots on a lover, he actually tries to avoid light touches over that area because having them laugh or giggle while he’s trying to touch them (which normally occurs during sex) will actually kind of piss him on in a way.

Squalo

Squalo gets pins and needles and occasionally a tingling, ticklish sensation in his missing hand. It’s not an entirely pleasant feeling but not always painful either, just weird.

Other than that, I think the tips of his ears and the soles of his feet are actually pretty ticklish. However, people don’t often actually touch those parts of his body so it’s going to take a lot for people to actually discover his ticklish spots. Even if they did, Squalo’s really good at controlling his reflexes and he’s going to draw on every bit of control he has to present an angry face instead of a laughing one.

Now, much like Xanxus, Squalo isn’t going out of his way to tickle people. He sees it as rather childish to do so and it’s not something he’s really setting out to do. However, in some lighter hearted moments with a partner he’s been with for a long time, if he knows they’re ticklish, he might actually take advantage of that fact if they’re arguing to defuse and win the argument.

Belphegor

Belphegor is insanely ticklish along his lower belly and his sides. He just hates people touching his princely self, so it’s not a secret that most people would know. Rasiel used to torture Bel by tickling him, so Bel actually really hates people tickling him, even if it’s well-intentioned. He can and will stab anyone who does succeed in tickling him, even if it is non-lethally.

However, Belphegor insanely enjoys tickling other people. He will definitely take advantage of anyone’s ticklish spots. It’s not making them happy and smiling and laughing that he enjoys. No, this boy is more than a little sadistic and he enjoys tickling until the person is squirming, crying, and begging for him to stop.

Tickling is a unique form of torture and one that, like most other forms of torture, Bel really enjoys.

Lussuria

Lussuria isn’t really ticklish at all. He kind of wishes he was because he thinks it’s really adorable when people are ticklish but there’s never been anything that invokes that feeling in him. The closest he gets are the obvious pins and needles when limbs fall asleep and the prickly, pleasant tingling sensation he gets during scalp massages.

However, as mentioned, he finds it adorable when people are ticklish and he’s definitely going to light-heartedly tickle friends, family, anyone he feels close to. He doesn’t even care if it might put him into the hospital.

He definitely does that ‘here comes the tickle monster <3’ bit before he sets to work tickling someone and he’s really good about stopping when it seems like the tickling is starting to hurt instead of feeling good. Tickling is fun for him, not torture (unlike some of his other Varia members).

Levi A Than

Levi is actually insanely ticklish – his sides, his feet, behind his knees, and in his armpits. Like so very, very ticklish to the point where he has to wear an undershirt underneath a button down shirt or sweaters because the scratchy fabrics against his skin will cause tickling sensations.

He really, REALLY hates being tickled though. It makes him so upset no matter who does it. His precious boss could tickle him (though Xanxus would never) or he could get a lover who is his whole world and they could tickle him, and he’d still be pissed off about it. He dislikes the tickling sensation, it’s not at all pleasant to him and he would actually have one of his few boundaries around that.

That being said, he doesn’t mind tickling other people, especially if he feels he can use tickling to ‘win’ something or have some kind of advantage over another person.

Part 4 of Sass and Squirrels

"Mama," Xanxus informs his little brother, pointedly flipping the pancake, "is useless." He gives himself a moment to be smug about how perfect it looks before stabbing the air with his spatula. "Now, you little shit, you're not allowed to say things like that." He crosses his arms, staring Sawada down. "She's our mother." Xanxus nods, once. "But it's the truth."

Sawada ignores him, too busy stuffing his face with a banana.

Xanxus sighs. "Whatever, don't let me catch you saying shit like that." Not that Sawada can say anything just yet but it's the principle of the thing.

The doorbell rings just as Xanxus is dropping the pancake on a plate. They both look curiously at the door, Sawada because everything is interesting to him and Xanxus because Nana is away and they don't usually get visits anyway. "Who the fuck comes at this hour anyway?" He puts everything down, checking with a look that Sawada isn't trying to commit suicide via head-diving. Satisfied that he isn't, he jumps off his stool.

He's halfway to the door when he realizes. "Civilian life," he muses, "is getting to me." Xanxus returns to the kitchen, climbs up the stool and grabs the biggest knife he can reach. "I'll teach you how to wield one of these," he declares. "No soft-hearted bullshit this time around, you hear me? If they look like they'll do something stupid, you stab them."

From his seat, Sawada smiles at him. Good enough, he guesses. Xanxus jumps back down.

When he opens the door, Xanxus does it abruptly, fingers firm around the handle of his weapon. "What?!"

"Oh my god," says the random trash darkening their doorstep. "Kid, where is your mom?"

Xanxus snorts, "what is it to you?" Before things can derail further, he adds: "What do you want?"

"Ok," the rando smiles, voice tight with concern. Good. "How about you put that down, kid? It's dangerous." When Xanxus only gives him an unimpressed look, he raises his voice. "Hello? Hi, sorry to bother you but your kid got hold of a knife!"

His only answer is Sawada's screeching back.

Fuck that. Xanxus takes one step back and slams the door in his face. "Wasting my time like that." He shakes his head, pointing the knife at the door. "Bet he was one of those assholes that try to sell you shit. Mama would have fallen for it too."

Hi, could you write headcanons for varia getting drunk?

-Levi becomes a bit of a philosopher when he’s drunk. He wonders what’s beyond space, questions the meaning of existence, and waxes terrible poetry with his musings

-If you thought Squalo couldn’t get any louder, you haven’t seen him drunk. His decibel level is off the charts, and some have to resort to wearing ear plugs when he starts slinging back the alcohol. He rants and raves, darting from topic to topic, and will stand in a corner talking to no one for hours

-Belphegor gets a bit touchy-feely when he’s drunk. Arms and legs will be draped over any family member within sight, and his grip is like that of an anaconda

-Lussuria is also a very noisy drunk, and tends to tell his most harrowing and inappropriate of childhood tales to a not so appropriate audience

-Xanxus is a quiet drunk. This is dangerous, because he does not exhibit his usual signals of becoming peeved off, and many use those warning signs to dodge a bullet or two

-Mammon and Fran, who can’t drink, film and record the antics of their families, for their own personal amusement and for blackmail material

Stressed ♡ Squalo/Reader Snippets ✧

Squalo has trouble managing his stress because his ego is humungous and he prides himself in his accomplishments, especially in regards to his ability to kick ass and get shit done. He is an overachiever with high standards for himself and he still works himself as if he is the official leader of the Varia (what he originally was meant to be, and might as well be, granted Xanxus is anti-paperwork and often anti-owning up to his responsibilities as boss.. y’all give Mr. Superbia a raise or else).

He’s adopted certain self-care rituals to wind down whenever he has free time, including (but not limited to) polishing his blades, spending some quality time with Alo, taking a nice long hot shower or soaking in the bath with a classic book (the art of war), and washing and brushing his hair.

I personally think that he’d be more low energy outside of work, but it doesn’t mean that he isn’t just as prone to having an outburst and yelling about something, anything, at the drop of a hat.

The rattling of keys captures your attention as the tall silver-haired swordsman discards them onto the dresser. He pads lightly into the room towards you, rolling out his shoulders silently, tilting his head side to side in a poor attempt to stretch his stiff neck muscles.

“Ah, you’re back, Squ-?!” Your greeting is interrupted by your face colliding with his sternum as he slumps against you, an arm snaking around your waist and resting his chin on your shoulder.

“Long day, huh..?” You mumble empathetically as you reciprocate the embrace, softly brushing your hand over the small of his back in an attempt to soothe him.

“No fuckin’ shit, [y/n].” He grumbles, clearly not in the mood to elaborate.

You lean against him in understanding, nuzzling your nose against the crook of his neck. Ideas float around in your head around how to take his mind off of the day he just had.

[1] You offer to run a bath just as a simple act of service to start the wind-down process for him.

The faucet spills hot water noisily into the porcelain tub and you catch yourself daydreaming as you stare into the frothing and bubbling liquid. You hear the door creak open and come back into reality, eyes moving quickly to meet the gaze of the man entering the bathroom.

“Hey! It’s almost ready..” you dip your arm in to about mid-forearm depth and swish the water around to feel for the temperature. “...salt?”

He grumbles an affirmative as he brushes out his hair in the mirror, threading slender fingers through the silver locks. His hair is always so pretty.. Oops, that’s enough salt..

You finish mixing in the Epsom salts, feeling soothed by the calm movement of your hand through the warm water. “Perfect,” you comment, lifting your limb out and shaking the excess liquid off, moving away to allow him to enter the bath. He does so, fairly quickly, clearly not in the mood to chat any further.

You read silently over his shoulder, pressing a soft kiss to his temple before you begin to massage the shampoo into his hair, leaning forward to squint at the small text.

“It's so... technical. I don’t know how you find this engaging,” you muse, gently massaging his scalp.

He grunts, turning to retort something and chew you out for being shallow. He is unable to do that, as you tilt your head in to catch his open mouth in a quick kiss before pulling back smugly.

“What the h- what was that for?!”

You giggle and remove your hands from his now thoroughly lathered locks, letting the long strands back down to pool into the waters below. “Sorry,” you murmur, clearly not sorry about shutting him up in that way. “You should save your words, don’t mind me..” your smile reaches your eyes as your hands move to his shoulders this time, squeezing the tense muscles.

“What I mind right now is that you’re not in the water with me,” he grumbles, before setting the book down on the side table and sinking deep into the bath, closing his eyes.

That was your cue to join him. Your nose scrunches and your eyes light up, as you hastily act on that sarcastic request. Relaxing is best when done with someone you love, huh.

[2] What could you offer to make him feel better? A little treat, perhaps. He does enjoy his whisky neat, and prefers it be chilled through the glass or with the specialized stones instead of ice that waters it down.

“Could you use a drink?”

He pulls back from the embrace, and you can almost see the question stewing in his mind, the cogs turning slowly and his brows furrowing.

“Actually, yeah,” he mutters, punctuating it with a slight nod.

You fight back a smile, this was going to be a good night.

Later in the evening, you find yourself lounging on the couch with a wine glass in hand, swishing the red liquid around as your mind wanders... as do your eyes, over your partner resting nearby, after a few glasses of whisky. He is fairly reclined, with his hair draped over the plush fabric and his eyes closed in contemplation.

“Squ..” your head tilts inquisitively. His long hair falls over his shoulder as his head raises from what he was doing. You notice that the first few buttons of his shirt have been undone, and your eyes trail over the way his sleeves are rolled up, exposing his lean forearms. The warmth builds in your cheeks, from the wine, you try to convince yourself.

“[Name],” he exhales audibly as he stands from his seated position. “I can see what you’re thinking..about,” the swordsman mumbles, arms crossing in front of him as he shifts his weight and stands facing you directly.

“Wh.. uh,” you can’t help but be distracted by the way the muscles in his forearm flex with the motion, and he absolutely tracks the way you gawk at his long legs. He feels his ego swell with pride, and this time his head tilts.

“Oi, eyes up here, perv.”

“Oh! Uh, sorry.”

He snorts in amusement, taking steps closer to you, slowly, teasingly. “If you wanted me to unwind by taking it out on you,” the tall man leans over your seated form on the couch, arms caging you in and a knee between your thighs before you’re able to shrink away. “Could have just said so..”

The syrup sweetness and smokiness of the drinks he had linger on his tongue as he kisses you greedily, forcing you to crane your neck back to accommodate him.

"Now that I'm warmed up, I can think of some ways that you can help me relax, actually.." a predatory, shark-like grin dances on his features, illuminated by the dim lighting in the room.

Your puffy lips fall slack as you watch him move, his hands travel down to tug at the buckle of his belt. The sight and sound of the metal clinking as he pulls it loose is certainly... mouthwatering, to say the least.

I seem to have lost the plot but fuck it we ball. fin.

Unlikely KHR Pairings Worth Exploring*

Hi it's Red again, with another small bit.

To get my muse running a little I've decided to share a bit of my opinions and analysis on some of the unlikely, but worth pairings throughout KHR. Please note that this is my opinion, and if somehow this ends up manifesting, then ohmygod I'll be extra excited to see it.

Basically if you want to read a little bit of weird ship/pair dynamics in a fictional universe, then this is my take and I hope you enjoy yourself.

First we need to look at what encompasses a successful pairing worth exploring (in my words).

The way I see it, a good pairing between two characters happens when their personalities compliment each other, when their ideals match and they work together towards them, when their skills augment each other (this is a BATTLE SHOUNEN), and most simply, when their respective canons displayed them to have good chemistry. That is to say, not all canon pairings are good pairings -- because a dysfunctional pairing can also ensue in canon, if underdeveloped and not justified well enough. An example of a bad pairing, is Reborn and Bianchi. The comical aspect of their relationship is apparent, with Bianchi being in her 20s and Reborn being a baby, but. It also plays into Bianchi's character, so we need to take it seriously... Regardless of the fact Reborn is an Arcobaleno.

An example of a good pairing in my opinion would be Ken and Chikusa. Simple enough, even if not romantic, Ken is close-range and Chikusa is long-range. They're both devoted to Mukuro greatly, and their personalities - while uncomplimentary of each other, can have good dynamics for back and forths. I do however feel like this pairing takes better stage in action, more than anywhere else, by virtue of what these characters showed us.

Okay? We got a rough idea? Cool. Let's give 3 of them.

Basil and Haru - Discount Tsuna and Gremlin Kyoko. While I ship Haru with Gokudera, this pairing is 100% platonic/romantic. I feel like this pairing would work really well by virtue of their personalities more than literally anything else. Basil is lax and polite, but serious when it counts. Haru, being more on the chaotic side, would throw a wrench into Basil's composure and force him to react, which I feel is a very potentially funny dynamic to explore. Basil is also very dedicated and kind-hearted, and that kind-heartedness (that was shown in Tsuna too), would probably sway Haru to his good side. If these two end up together, they'd be in for a good life.

There's also the "rejected by Tsuna" dynamic to take into account.

Gamma and Lancia - Remember that bit above that I said close-range and long-range? This applies here too. Power/Platonic/Romantic. While opposites attract, this is a case of complete likeliness. Gamma and Lancia are both extremely devoted to their bosses. Gamma doesn't like fighting kids, and Lancia is flat out great with them. I feel like these two have a lot to talk about, aside from their devotions. Their general vibe, I feel, also meshes well greatly. Granted, Gamma is a little more loose and Lancia is a bit more rigid, but if they were entirely alike, this wouldn't work, right?

Xanxus and Byakuran - This pairing is why I'm writing this post in the first place. Skewed Romantic/Power. This is easily a hate-pairing, from Xanxus' side. But if Byakuran works his magic and manages to persuade Xanxus to move sides, the potential is terrifying. Their personalities directly contrast each other, but in a very complimentary way: Byakuran's laid-back and all-knowing nature can really rile up Xanxus' rage and drive, while Xanxus' constant action requires Byakuran to constantly be on check. If these two end up a pairing, no one is safe; even themselves.

  “Defining moments, little clam?”  She asked.  “Running away from a man that has nearly killed my guardians.  Asking your predecessor for help and being asked to watch Xanxus’ movements like a hawk.  Freedom and security do not come free in the criminal underworld.”  She narrows her eyes at the teenage boy.

“The man who nearly killed my guardians is my father, Alesso Guerriera.  And I plan on killing him.” Sarina narrowed her eyes.  “He’s done much against me, including assassinating my mother when I was still young.  I have been training to be the next Guerrieri family’s womb.  Alesso has already picked who I am to marry.”

  Deep Interests

  “Deep interests?  I enjoy learning languages.  You must study Italian if you are to continue to conduct business with anyone from the Vongola, little clam,” she said.  “You must first get better with your English and Japanese first.”  She glanced at Reborn.  “After all, Signore Reborn knows that you must learn at least seven languages other than your native language to join the Varia.”

She took a sip and smiled at her box weapon, Vittoria.  “Maintaining my weapons is essential to me.  The more you do the stronger the weapon and bond with said weapon gets.  I enjoy taking warm baths.  I enjoy collecting Venetian masks and stroll Venice in the early months of the year.  I also collect weapons and entertain various video games, comics, and animation.”

She thought some more.  “I enjoy contemplating life and my purpose, and things of that nature.”

  Fears/Worries

  “You ask some interesting things, little clam.”  Sarina said as she crossed her legs.  She refilled her wine glass, and took a sip.  “I’m afraid I’m not drinking that strong of an alcoholic beverage to tell you my fears.  Alas, I’m prompted with Reborn’s gun.  I’m afraid you aren’t strong enough to live up to expectations as the Tenth.  I’m afraid my boss might kill you for your weaknesses if you were to show them.  I’m afraid Dino’s student will kill you for your weaknesses.”

She set aside her wine.  “I’m worried I might kill you accidentally if I were to train you.  You might have achieved much already with your determination and the dying will bullet, but that is not enough.  No amount of training can prepare you for the things you might endure in the future if you continue to delve in the light of the civilian world and the darkness of the criminal underworld.  I’ve lost much already, I cannot lose more.  That’s why I must get stronger, and I don’t intend to coddle you when you are ready to face me.  By the time you do, I will have already conquered the Guerrieri family.”

Let’s see… this one is a lil hard because this is a fem!Tsuna which is your portrayal specifically. I suppose the disclaimer is that this is entirely based off how I personally view your muse from what I’ve seen. I am liable to be incorrect about things, so apologies if I get some things wrong or understand things wrong of your portrayal of Fem!Tsuna.

NOW ONTO THE SHOW!

I said neutral and ship because well, it’s hard for me to ship something if I don’t know much about it or I don’t have a strong understanding of a character. I’m also in general very ehhhhh about (M)Tsuna and Xanxus. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it either. Like we’ve discussed before, there are differences when it comes to gender altered characters, so tentatively, after thinking some things through, I think I could like the ship- though it would depend on how it was done.

In the previous one answered, I sorta mentioned it, but I write these based off how I think a ship could feasibly work and be developed. So this isn’t to say I know anything about canon events or know about BG of your Tsuna. This is more of a thought exercise, so do keep that in mind. The Xanxus is also possibly different from how some may portray him because again, this is based off how I think it could work—so some things may differ because that’s how I’m choosing to think of him to make a ship work. Kk. Disclaimers done.

So, some of this talk will make sense if I also preface with (M)Tsuna. The reason I don’t like the ship is because every time I see (M)Tsuna and Xanxus, they always make him the most uke to have ever uke. The megaladommed of ukes. I hate it. Tsuna is a fearful lil dude and pretty timid but he’s not like that. He has some back bone to him. He knows when to take a stand. Moreover, he would at least put up a bit of a fight. He’d ba panicking at the very LEAST not just crying through everything. Bruh.

That’s how every single person portrays the (M)Tsuna x Xanxus ship for some reason, however. Idk. It does sometimes involve funny art though, I’m not gonna lie lol.

So, with that, we have the contrasting Tsu-chan as I like to call her. We’ve established before in a ‘how do I see your muse’ kinda meme that happened a while back. [x] Linked for reference. I enjoy the fact that she has more fight in her in the form of sass/sarcasm. She’s more willing to just take charge initially as opposed to Tsuna who normally takes a more nuanced neutral stance at first before he finally decides ‘okay I need to act’. I am going off on a limb to assume that some of this can come about due to the fact that Tsu-chan is a woman.

She likely had people who doubt her ability to take charge and to lead a massive famiglia like the Vongola. Not to forget that she was quite young when Reborn first came into her life to train her to become the 10th. Women in general are usually told to just be pretty and it is best to be subservient to a degree. Just let the men do all the work, or to simply listen to men as that’s their place. That is a mentality that a lot of places tend to have though things are better in more modern times and in some countries.

I think, Tsu-chan had to take the stand and had to prove herself time and time again to the point where she’s just so used to having to prove herself that it resulted in her faster and stronger response to altercations than Tsuna did. He has a more passive kind of attitude to things but she does not. She’s also seemingly more ambitious than (M)Tsuna likely was. That’s the vibe I get. She may be respectful towards others, but she can easily take it back. She will take shit from NO ONE. Honestly? DAS RIGHT GIRL, YOU DO THAT. GO AND KICK SOME ASS BECAUSE HE WAS A FUCKING DUMB ASS. DO IT. FOR ME.

It isn’t to say that (M)Tsuna doesn’t have fight in him. It isn’t to say that TYL him didn’t have ambitions either. However, canon him was always shown to be more gentle and passive until you went over a line and then he acts. Then everything he was holding in comes forth and he’s a force. Tsu-chan, I have the gut feeling, has a much lower threshold, than (M)Tsuna. Also possibly had less insecurity issues than that of (M)Tsuna. I cannot speak to all iterations of how you write her, but at least based off the premise of our interactions, Tsu-chan had a childhood friend and one she got along well with.

Haru is such a positive bean (THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!!) and she’s such a caring and supportive person (THE BEST WAIFU OF MY LAIFU!!!!!!!!) and so I think that as opposed to (M)Tsuna who didn’t have friends, she would certainly have a bit less of the sociability issues that he had. From this, you could say that she has more emotional intelligence than he does. This may turn into her having a stronger sense of self, which then means that she’s more willing to assert herself. So from a younger age, she was PROBABLY (I’m just guessing) more willing to be honest and speak up than (M)Tsuna was.

Why am I saying all this and why is it relevant? It’s VERY relevant. Xanxus cares a lot about power and authority. He also cares about image. Something that I think some people often forget is that Xanxus may be ‘old’ comparatively to the others, but he’s also quite young too. He was frozen for many years in ice. He had lost many years that could’ve been used to experience more in life. When he was thawed, he was still in the heat of the anger of realizing he’s not of blood relation to Nono. He lived his life as a lie, almost. This wasn’t even something he was told in confidence by Nono. It was something he had to find out indirectly. That is such a huge blow to someone, especially someone as prideful as him.

People don’t realize just how much that kind of thing can mess with someone. You’ll feel a lot of anger, hurt, and even betrayal in many cases. It can be traumatic and this is things that I’ve been told from people who had such circumstances happen in their family. It is trauma, despite how little it may seen on the outside. It shapes the way you view the world and your familial dynamics. For Xanxus especially it also changed the political game. It changed his stance, it changed his ‘ranking’ in a sense because he NEVER had the placement of being the next heir to the Vongola like he thought.

Tsuna/Tsu-chan being the rightful heir (due to no other living relations surviving) is not only a thorn in his side but a painful reminder of himself. They are the opposite of him. They lived the majority of their lives not even knowing about the Vongola or about how they had right to the ‘throne’ so to speak. It directly contrasts himself. The thing about (M)Tsuna is that he’s timid, he shows a lot of fear. He’s very ‘soft’ in the way he goes about things. That is not something the Vongola needs- that’s how he’d see things. Sure, Nono is also a pretty tenderhearted person, but he is a mafia boss.

I’m very sure that he knew how to harden his heart and do what must be done. It’s evident in the way that he literally caged Xanxus in ice. He will ultimately do what must be done- but he’s also very tender in the sense that he only caged Xanxus in ice instead of revealing the truth and ousting him or getting rid of him. HOWEVER, it also shows how cruel he can be. To be caged in ice, to be trapped in that time of your immense anger and hurt? That’s truly cruel. To not even allow Xanxus the time to really process through his grief and hurt, to rob him of YEARS of his time, possibly condoning him to being a man-sicle for years until maybe Nono’s death. Hard to say whether the ice made from Nono’s flames won’t melt after his death.

If so, imagine how awful that is? Xanxus may wake up in a totally different time, everything is different, and the one person he may have wanted to get answers from—is dead. No chance to even get any form of closure! That, to me, is INSANELY cruel.

Sorry, back on topic. If I’m correct in thinking Tsu-chan had more back bone when younger holds true, then at least Xanxus would take that into account and hate her less on the account of perhaps acknowledging that she may be a fit for the role. That she could possibly lead the Vongola. She won’t just lead them into the shitter like he probably thought (M)Tsuna would do with how soft he is. He probably hates Tsuna so much because of who he stands for, what he has the privilege of (and doesn’t even WANT- HOW DARE. FK YOU. I WISH I HAD WHAT YOU HAVE), and for how weak he seems. It would be a bad image for the Vongola. HIS Vongola, the one that SHOULD’VE been his—entrusted to this lil baby boy fledgling. It makes him so mad.

Though I think he’d have a better impression on Tsu-chan which would help. With her stronger emotional intelligence (bc frankly, Tsuna is very emotionally dumb as hekk but it’s understandable due to his lack of socialization. That’s a common result of a lack of socialization) she’d be able to perhaps notice how much pain he’s in. How much inner turmoil he’s going through with the impact of the news of his real bloodline being not of the Vongola. He isn’t truly Nono’s son.

From here, I think Tsu-chan would have a better way of dealing with Xanxus. I strongly doubt he would want to be consoled directly, because of his pride and his great disdain of the reality. How he found out. The betrayal. If Tsu-chan can navigate that well, break down some of his walls, become a small pillar that helps him on that road to healing from his hurt. The damage is done already, for sure, but it can get better. I mean, think about it. Tsu-chan also was never told about her lineage. She was suddenly thrown into a new life, one that she wasn’t warned about. One that she literally has no choice in the matter of. It’s a direct opposition of his situation, but it’s still very vexing.

I think in some way if she’s able to talk to him, and he can learn about her situation and how it affected her, it can open him up to some things. Not pity her situation, because it is something he wanted (to be the boss), but he can sympathize with the fact that they were both in a sense victims of the circumstances of adults not telling them things. Not giving them the time to warn them of what was to come, and certainly not giving them the time to truly process things. Tsuna was quite literally told lol you’re the next boss, no you have no choice in the matter. Oh by the way all these people are after you because of who you are. Ye you gotta fight. You gotta watch your friends suffer.

OH!!!! Sending you off to the future. You could die. BRO. Tsuna had NO TIME TO REST. nO TIME TO REALLY HEAL. NO TIME TO PROCESS HIS LIFE. NO WONDER he was so adamant about wanting out. No wonder he gets so prickly with Reborn. It’s very reasonable! (Fite me world, it’s reasonable. I think the ending where he’s like nah I don’t want this was actually quite fitting. The WORLD can fite me on this. I don’t think that part was a bad ending. I hate the yakisoba scene and that’s what made the ending bad for me lol)

Depending on how things progressed between them, I can maybe… see Xanxus trying to offer some help to her. Give advices or help with resources if she needed it. She may be stuck in a situation she didn’t want to be in, but based off what I’ve seen of her, I think she is more accepting of it than Tsuna was. Assuming that to be true, that isn’t a demerit towards her. IF she is trying her best despite being so new to things and not having been born into the life like a lot of them were- he’d have to give her some credit for trying. He would ultimately decide that for the sake of HIS Vongola, he wants her to be the best and strongest boss that she could possibly be.

In doing so, they form a stronger sense of trust and respect for each other. It’s wayyy more subtle in canon because of how much he hates Tsuna lol. I think in Tsu-chan’s verse it may be more obvious, depending on how things played out.

If it plays out in this sort of way, I do think they could be a ship. It would need a lot of work and it may not be the most wholesome of ships because of there being differences in rank, his pain, and the fact that he probably will forever be angry about the fact he couldn’t be the boss. Though, what can you do? It’s the mafia. It won’t all be pretty rainbows.

If I had to say, the theme for this kind of ship is one where they see each other through an inverted mirror and see how the other is struggling through the reality they didn’t want. Seeing that, it makes them want to help each other in small ways and from that comes the respect and comfort.

Let’s see… I did promise some(?) cute(?) ideas perhaps for a ship.

Perhaps by TYL time or even after that, where Xanxus has processed a lot of his trauma and has seen Tsu-chan blossom into a respectable boss that she is, he has to (secretly begrudgingly) accept the fact that she’s a good boss, one fit for the Vongola. She is his boss. (In canon I think Nono will forever be his boss, fuck Tsuna. You aren’t my boss you lil fuck. That’s his energy, I feel) IMAGINE? Just a scene of him taking her hand kissing the back of it and ‘Though you aren’t the one I wanted at the mantle of the Vongola, you have proven yourself to be worthy. To the Boss, I pay respect.” JUST IMAGINE THAT. The prideful guy admitting that after years. I FOAM at the mouth.

So, a part of my HC is that because he is so full of rage that it morphed his flames, imagine that with prolonged exposure and association with Tsuna, he calms down some and his leadership skills are a lot less violent and angry. He calms down and is more of a vision of who he was before. The very Xanxus that Squalo wanted to support and follow. Just imagine others noticing how his rage flame is less and less prominent as he heals by her side and his sky flames eventually become purer and they all know that it is due in part to her influence. That is until something happens to Tsu-chan and then the full brunt force of the rage flame resurfaces again. Ahhhh YESSSSSS I LIVEEEEEEE for when guys just SNAAAP!!!! GO GET EM TIGER! THAT’S THE ENERGY I LIKE. The chaotic destruction. Ahhhhhhhhh Sorry that’s not cute, is it? (IT IS TO MEE!!!!!!!)

I don’t see Xanxus being the type to really fluster. I can see a scene where maybe she tries to flirt with him and doesn’t get much of a reaction from him because he doesn’t feel like reacting (lol) and so she maybe one day surprises him with a surprise lil kiss. He goes silent and stares at her—and it’s so disappointing bc like REACT, YOU FUCKING WALL OF A MAN!!!! GET FLUSTERED! But no. He just grabs her and kisses her as a response because he’s more retaliatory than reactionary. Yess… is what I want. I like. I want it.

So yeah, those are some of my thoughts. No idea if any of that made any sense but I tried!!!
