random hc about Doremy, but if she wrote in japanese I feel like she’d write in only hiragana/katakana. She gives off a childlike vibe to me.

yeeeessss I know the characters are all basically japanese and japanese kids can know kanji, but I don’t think Doremy would care/understand, she lives in the dream world, reason doesn’t exist there and I’m sure her book she write is is probably written in exclusively hiragana or katakana.

and when writing to the other characters they probably are like “Doremy please learn Kanji” and Doremy’s just like “何？” (“Nani?” The japanese word for “what”) and carries on writing in hiragana and katakana.

LIKE— the dream world probably doesn’t even use Kanji and stuff right anyway like the definitions probably get screwed up every dream and Doremy is left crying when the others use the “oh so complex” kanji!

And like, I can say my dreams irl are like here’s the word “cow” but now it means “the ability to fly at sub atomic speeds”! It’s ENTIRELY possible~!

Raymond Beineix & Alicia Beineix

I just noticed that I haven't named the cousin's common grandparents yet, so today, I'll share their names here, with some headcanons about them, so let's check it out.

Raymond Beineix was Ronnie and Reina's father, who had the ability to speak with plants. He cared about all of his family members, including his daughter-in-law Bianca and his son-in-law Loid. He accepted Roy's diary from his grandfather, then liked to share anything inside it to his grandchildren. He actually loved both of his grandchildren equally, but as the bearer of his family name, he interacted with Robbie more than Anya. Even so, he taught Latin to both of them and liked to discuss anything about their predecessor with them. They wondered if their special abilities existed because of Majo Tourbillon, Roy's ageless grandmother.

Unfortunately, people around him couldn't believe that he could talk with the plants. Some of them even thought that he was crazy. One day, when his big family had a vacation, someone put a bomb near their villa, so he quickly evacuated his grandchildren, but he didn't have any chance to save himself and he finally died along with his daughter Reina.

Alicia Beineix was Ronnie and Reina's mother who, unfortunately, died right after she gave birth to Reina. Even so, she was the only one who could accept Raymond with his special ability sincerely.

Things that are currently running through my head

In Ojamajo DoReMi it is shown that naturally born witches are born from flowers (roses specifically I believe)

Also, in the show iirc it is stated that naturally born wizards are born from grass/herbs (I can't remember which one right now)

We have no actual clue how fairies are born or even what they really are (I am also of the opinion that wizards should have had something similar to the fairies but that's for a different post)

This is what I think the world used to look like before it got all cursified:

I think that humans, witches, and wizards actually lived in some form of harmony

Why? Because witches seem to have very reactive-styled magic. They see a problem and work to fix it, or they see a need and fill it.

Wizards on the other hand seem to have very action-based magic. They attack instead of defending, the more mischievous ones sometimes cause the problems that witches try to fix.

And humans are unique in the ability to learn the magic.

So witches, wizards, and humans would live in villages or towns or whatever. The witches would be the primary defense making sure no creatures destroyed the place, while the wizards would be in charge of actually taking said monster down.

Humans would either learn the magics of one of the two groups, or work to help provide food and what not.

Where do the fairies come in? I think they would have shown up after everything went to hell but before the witches had managed to set up their new society.

The show has shown that fairies are excellent mimics once they're old enough, so I think they could have decided to help the witches lure away the monsters

Also, picking a new witch queen is kind of like a bee hive, except generally less murdery

But the reason I think they may have once coexisted is when the wizard king said that the plant that birthed new wizards had died, the witch queen agreed to help replenish it.

Ichika: old Miku concerts and mvs, especially the ones she watched as a kid

Saki: Sesame Street, she and Tsukasa watched it together a lot

Honami: Bear in the Big Blue House

Shiho: Jack's Big Music Show or other music shows

Minori: videos of idols from when she was a kid (their concerts, variety appearances, etc), especially ASRUN

Haruka: any Hello Kitty/Sanrio things

Airi: Max and Ruby

Shizuku: any shows with a focus on music, they remind her of Shiho and of her father

Kohane: anything with animals, you'll find her toddler regressed watching nature documentaries no problem

An: videos of RADder and other street music teams, she likes singing along and pretending to be a big star

Akito: Curious George

Toya: he gets extremely mesmerized by those baby sensory videos with the bouncing fruit, no thoughts in his head look at the strabby

Okay so I’m an AkaNene shipper and a lot of people don’t get that ship (they tend to think it’s a crack ship or a rare pair just made up for fun)

I personally came up with this huge adoration of the ship over one side comic and then the severance / red house arcs era (so around chapters 70-90’s)

The side comic I’m talking about is the one where Nene asked Aoi if Aoi really didn’t care about Akane’s crush on her and if she wouldn’t mind if Nene went out with him instead (it’s the one where Nene skips school for like a week because of it)

And the rest :D rubs my silly little hands together

During the severance Nene loses two very important people! One being Aoi, and the other being Hanako. And for Akane, it’s Aoi too.

I honestly think it’s really interesting to see how their relationship would blossom after chapter 72- the Terunene “date” chapter. Akane seems really angry in that chapter because Nene is indirectly why Aoi was gone. But, I think by the end of it he would be much more willing to hear Nene out.

I think they’d be each others support systems as we know Nene got depressed after the severance, and Akane probably wasn’t any better either (I’m looking at you watering can Akane official art)

They wouldn’t see each other as replacements for each others love interest- but they would see it as something to have in common and help each other over.

My hc’s for the severance period are pretty dark so if I had to think of fun AkaNene headcanons:

Whenever Nene’s really upset Akane will redirect her to watch something she really enjoys. I love the idea of Magical Girl enjoyer for Nene (projecting lol) but I think knowing her canon interests she’d be more interested in things like Madoka Magica rather than Magical Doremi/Precure/Sailor Moon 💭 Akane wouldn’t be super interested in that sort of thing but after watching it with Nene a few times he finds himself wrapped up in the lore and maybe even starts relating to Homura 😭 given the time loop based losing a crush stuff

Unlike Aoi- Nene loves rain and storms! She likes the adrenaline. As long as she’s warm and under a waterproof jacket she likes it. She’s the sort of person to lay in the grass and just let the water hit her face to me. So, sometimes if a storm starts she’ll shoot Akane a text that she’s coming over and then drags him outside to dance in the rain :D

Nene usually ends up freezing cold after this so Akane has to dry her hair off with a towel and get the space heater and blankets out. He sort of lectures her about how she needs to listen to him and be more careful, but it’s out of concern - not to be mean.

on this note of hair , Nene has thick curly hair! I like to hc that she flat irons it to try and fit in with Aoi and the others because curl care can be a night mare as someone who struggles with it. Her hair gets super frizzy sometimes and she finds it easier to just iron it. Akane tries to tell her that he likes her natural hair, and helps her comb tangles out gently. This ends up leading to her deciding to stop straightening it every day.

As we know from one of the side comics, Akane has a book shelf full of books that all have a character named Aoi in it. I think Nene would find that a little silly, but drag her interest so much that she ends up slowly reading all of them and then discussing them with Akane- like an Aoi book club 🔥

I also think that on her own Nene would probably read some crazy stuff that Akane wouldn’t exactly expect. She’d be scrolling through an e-book on her phone until Akane finally looks over and realizes she’s reading a detailed murder scene from American Psycho

Akane on the other hand would read old timey romances I think. Stuff with Princes/Knights and Princesses. I also think he’d start getting into the psych horror magical girl genre because of Nene. He’d really love watching Revolutionary Girl Utena :) I do love transfem Akane hc’s so he’d either relate to Utena because he sees himself in her and gender euphoria OR he would just see himself and Aoi in it… like having the right spirit despite it being the WLW of all time

Whenever Nene’s too busy or depressed to take care of her hamsters Akane will take over. He tells her that it’s a chore and he only does it because he loves her- but he’s secretly really attached to them and gives them silly nicknames because Nene’s given names are usually pretty extreme haha

Okay that’s a lot but I hope it’s good to read >:D I adore these two I wanna put Akane under a microscope and psychoanalyze him

That said, in splash star, the girls fly in a magic ball into the sky when transforming so maybe it differs from show to show

I hate when people criticize magical girl anime for having long transformation scenes. "so the enemies just wait for them?" have you ever considered that something can be beautiful without needing to serve a purpose or make sense in a literal scenario 💔

The Cousin's Dogs: John Beineix & Bond Forger

John Beineix is Robbie's Golden Retriever who had accompanied him since he was two years old, right after his grandfather found out that he could speak to animals. He was a newborn puppy when the Beineix adopted him. Robbie often asked him whether there were any other animals nearby who needed their help or not. In the TV show which featured them, John told Robbie about some stray kittens, whom they rescued right away.

Bond Forger is Anya's Great Pyrenees whom she adopted when she was six years old as a reward for getting her first Stella Stars. Different from John who's just an ordinary dog, Bond is a special dog who can see the future...

Alright, probably Bond's description is just like a retelling of his canon description, but in this crossover, just like Anya's ability to read minds, Bond's ability to see the future is naturally developed in his huge body, as he's a white animal who originally came from the witch world (if you watch Ojamajo Doremi, just think of him as a white animal from the witch world like Hana's white elephant, Pao). The headcanon is that all of the white animals from the witch world have various special abilities which brings luck to their caretaker. In this crossover, Bond escaped from the witch world by crossing a gate near the venue of the adoption event that Yor and Anya were attending to.

So there wasn't any bomb terror in this AU and they just casually adopted Bond. Simple as that.

Even so, he did often warn Anya about any important moment which will happen soon (I already wrote a fanfic in FFn where he told Anya that Majo Tourbillion would visit them the next day... I probably will translate it into English and upload it into AO3 later). He also let Anya ride him like a horse until she was heavy enough for him to carry, just like what happened in the series. Basically, he's still Anya's 'partner in crime' in this crossover.

In conclusion, each of the cousins have a special partnership with their own dog and it's wonderful.

I don't know about shonen, it depends, because I feel like he'd be more into older anime (like up to the 2010s... well, ig kg anime takes place in 2004 so...) than the modern ones. definitely stuff like dragonball, yugioh, digimon, bleyblades n bakugan is up his alley (those franchises with a big toy line tie-in basically). actually new HC acquired that kururu and keroro bicker about what the best majokkos are

I wanna get into precure, do you have a fav or ome you think people should start with?

Ye!! I want to preface this by saying Precure is basically a collection of advertisements to sell children toys, but it's fun head empty activity if you like magical girl stuff. I think it's best to just scroll through the Wikipedia page and pick whichever one looks the most interesting to you, but I'll talk about the ones I like and dislike below:

1. Heartcatch

My favorite season. Great characters, art, feels so incredibly full of love. Character design is by Yoshihiko Umakoshi (Magical Doremi). The stylized animation really adds to the fight scenes. I've seen a lot of trans girls resonate with a particular character and it's fun to keep that headcanon in mind when watching. Theme song plays in my head everyday.

2. Hirogaru Sky

The newest season. Really easy to get into and features a lot of firsts in the series such as a blue main cure, first magical boy on the main team, and adult cure on the main team (she's only 18 though lol). I just wish the fight scenes were more punch-y since the protagonist, Sora, is an athlete.

3. Kirakira Pretty Cure a la Mode

This one is hated by a lot of people because there's no hand to hand combat, but I feel like it more than makes up for that with the characters and general bubbly vibe. Has a budget Haruka/Michiru cat girl x dog girl couple for the yuri fans. I never skip the transformations.

4. Futari wa Pretty Cure

The original. Fight scenes only went down in quality after it imo. Really distinctive among magical girl shows.

5. Fresh Precure

The art isn't really up to par with other entries, but if you don't mind that it has a character who really tugs at the heartstrings. Invented the concept of a mid season cure (cure joins halfway through) and no one else has done it like her. Truly believe she suffered more than Jesus.

Others I recommend are Star Twinkle, Tropical Rogue, and Suite.

As for the ones I'm like... Eh about..

Go! Princess is a fan favorite. It has a nice storybook feel, dynamic fight scenes occasionally, and the transformations are stunning. But as an Utena fan it felt weird to watch them go "no it's okay to want to be a princess actually! princesses can be strong too!" Very annoying message to see be sent to kids to buy products lol

Yes 5... There are two episodes I think are like the best in this franchise and then the rest was ruined by a chipmunk I wish was roadkill. The romance is between the protagonist and her teacher (who also happens to be the mascot character lol). It's the season that got a sequel that's currently airing with the cast all grown up, but they had to bring that ugly flea-ridden fuck back.

Huggto. The thing is I was spoiled for this and it was a spoiler that made my neurons kind of short circuit so I decided it definitely was not for me.
