My brainrot today is thinking about just how incredible for a character Eowyn is.

Genuinely. The series might not have many female characters but the ones we do get go so fucking hard.

To me, Eowyn is literally the definition of defining being a woman for oneself. She rejects the roles she is given despite acknlowdging the importance and its mostly because she knows part of the reason is that she is a woman.

The reason why she is obsessed with Aragorn isn't because she loves him but because she wants what he has. She wants the freedom and courage and bravery that Aragorn has at every turn. She literally has multiple conversations during the Two Towers about how what she fears most is a cage. All this girl wants is the freedom to be and not be forced into a role. The best thing is that she literally gets that.

The segment of Return of the King about Eowyn and Faramir is literally about her piecing together what she truly wants. She doesn't want Aragorn. She wants freedom and the ability to choose. Faramir does nothing but encourage that in her. Their love story is literally one of the healthiest love stories I've seen in a long time because at the heart of it, their love is a place to return home to for both parties. Both go off to lead and help their people for a considerable amount of time before returning to each other but that does not diminish their bond. Even Faramir, I believe, falls in love with her bravery and dedication to her loved ones. The reason she went to Pelenor Fields and Gondor with the troops of Rohan was because she had things she wanted to fight for. She wanted to fight for herself, her people, and her loved ones. She is the one who protects Theoden after he is killed so that his body gets the treatment it deserves. She encourages Merry and helps him go to the battle because she sees her struggle in Merry. They feel helpless standing around when there are things to be doing.

Let's also not forget the fact that she was around Grima Wormtounge just as much as the King was. She was exposed to the same poison and awful words that eroded the king. It's even implied that her care for him is part of the reason why Theoden was savable when Gandalf showed up. She had the same power and bravery as everyone else even if she didn't see it in herself.

Then at the end of the day, SHE decides where she wants to go and what path she wants to walk. She walked the path of a warrior. The path of a princess/ruler. The path of a caretaker. But in the end she decides which elements truly mean something to her outside of gender definitions. That is what makes her character so incredible to me. In this she literally kills one of the biggest enemies in that battle with such a badass line.

Do u ever wonder if people would still ship SaintShin if it wasn't for Nani's eye-(fucking)acting?

Like yeah sure, Saint's pick-up lines were cute and unhinged but it's Shin's subtle reactions at those times that made me think like yeah dude there might be something more there, that he knows there's something more there. It's him doing the triangle method. It's his gaze towards Saint during moments where the latter isnt looking at him.

i mean, i do think people would ship them even without the insane eye (fucking) action, just because people will ship anything (myself included lol), and the dialogue and editing etc have enough romantic undertones even without considering all the improv + general skynani additions to it

but it definitely wouldn't have been such a phenomenon without the fucking EYES ‼️ (interpret that how you will) it's crazy to me that nani didn't play shin with the intention of portraying someone heartbreakingly in love and pining (except he probably did but in a more platonic way, because honestly the one thing underlining the whole show is how much saintshin love each other)

like this isn't even the best example, but it's still so INSANE, the hurt and fear and care all in that one look 😩🤌🤌

random note about king on that animation, i got really lucky with how simple his animation was and how clean my sketches were to begin with that i was able to do very minimal cleanup on what i had sketched (and add back. his horn. it's supposed to take place just after echoes of the past, Oops) and call it done that way instead of having to redraw the entire thing like i had to on his dad

first sketch > line cleanup > nearly final animation (i'd added slight eye movements last-second but otherwise that's the final)

I think that, after I'm done the next couple of drawings I'm currently working on, I'm going to take a break from full color artwork. I did something new (sort of) for what I've put together for rare pair month, and it's come together super beautifully and with the minimal use of color, it really has a much bigger impact than if I had done it with full color. I think I want to do more drawings like that.

i always wonder why some people who both side the genocide but believe they truly aren’t a zionist! they are so very different from them and just wants all people to get along! wants to dismantle hamas but says nothing about dismantling/defunding the military system of israel.

let’s say hamas is completely dismantled. and in many zionists’ words, this means that most people are killed - this does implicate that hostages are mostly likely to be returned home dead - education is taken over at least a smudge to ensure people won’t retaliate anymore - war is over but Palestine is not an independent state and is still occupied by Israel, who still will control their power grid and livelihoods and not permit them to live equal lives as Israeli citizens because of the artificial fear that fuels Israeli military soldiers to snipe even children (again, their way of dismantling Hamas). so what will happen? palestine will still be occupied (ie not be independent).

so why are the people who are calling for the dismantling of hamas not calling for the dismantling of the israeli military force as well? this is important because we - and im just humouring the lucky crowd here - do not know what signs there will be to tell us that Hamas is dismantled. if you kill almost everyone except for that one person who isn’t a Hamas member, but because you killed everyone, someone retaliates, will they be considered “Hamas” as well? is the end goal to just… kill everyone, then? will that be the sign that Hamas is dismantled? and the same people I described before will say “no! of course not! we will only kill Hamas members!” when Palestinians who are not Hamas members have definitely been killed and false accusations by Israel have been made calling things “Hamas!” that have very clearly not been Hamas and instead just been “evidence” implanted by Israeli soldiers - but again, I’m humouring the lucky crowd over here, so okay. we need a buffer to say “yes, stop killing people”, and any word that comes out of Palestine won’t help that obviously, so the buffer will have to be a stalemate between Palestine & Israel.

so, besides hamas, what armed group will palestine have to protect them to provide that buffer? not even just during this genocide, but let’s say we got over that first hurdle of “even though we don’t know when Hamas is completely dismantled”, sure, let’s say they’ve been dismantled. back to the question - what military force will Palestine have? they have the largest crippled population in the world and many people gained physical disabilities overnight. over many nights, actually. what effective military group should they have? an israeli one? okay. so what about their independence?

did you cripple them so they would rely on you, you would have their land and resources, and they will not be able to claim independence? bonus question: will they be euthanized as well so they cannot make more children? children seem to be the target of a lot of snipers.

so thinking logically through it - why isn’t this possibility morally abhorrent to those people who call for the dismantling of hamas for “peace”? what type of peace is this? logically you cannot claim to be morally superior as someone who supports these ideologies. the only way you can settle with only dismantling hamas, but not dismantling the Israeli military force - “reform the Israeli military force”, you say, but how will that happen? will it even happen? who in power in israel would want a reform to happen in the first place? to be moral or to appear moral? wil anyone else pressure them? - is if you have understood the lives of Palestinians to be less important than yours.

they do not need to be independent, because we will help them - we will enact our power over them - and whether for good or bad reasons, they will not be able to hold a state of their own without our meddling. can you understand why we call Israel an occupying force? do you understand why the primary point of discussion on the colonization of palestine and the genocide of its people have been based around “power”?

if that freaks you out (and it should), you’ll be happy to know that Israel’s only alternative to “having a bunch of enemy forces rely on you for the inevitable future because of international pressure” is “kill all people in the enemy forces so we don’t waste our resources on them”. (so. back to square one.) everything in Israel is interconnected - from the real estate selling homes in gaza overseas, to the media, to the government, to the military forces. it’s why Palestinians are seen as less than human in Israel, and this is emphasized on all affronts. there needs to be an entire system reform, not just military reform, for any change to happen whatsoever. and looking at America right now, this will be too slow for Palestinians to be spared.

“is there a third option?” you ask. and yes! there is. for Israel to withdraw their military forces, any spies, any personnel inside Palestine that will attempt to go for a position of power - and allow Palestine to build itself without Israel’s meddling. which is funny because this will never realistically happen since whether or not they have hostages, Israel has been trying to destroy their infrastructure for the past 20 years - it’s why Israel now controls their power grid - so the answer should be “dismantle israeli military, but keep the Iron Dome up that has been protecting everyone because you really only should need defense if you’re going to be powerful, protected, and emphasize morality as well”, but i guess that idea is too complicated for the lucky crowd to understand (ie. the lucky crowd refuses to understand it because they don’t just want to defend their people, they want to kill other people too), but i digress.

“and how do you know Israel has withdrawn everyone?” ah yes! that’s the question I was looking for. the answer? we don’t know. we just have to trust the “moral superiority” of Israel that everyone who defends Zionists seem to love to talk about. of course Zionists aren’t trying to gun for land that isn’t theirs for nefarious reasons :) they totally had empathy this entire 70 years of occupation of Palestine, and nothing they have done has suggested otherwise :) of course, if that’s not the case, and youre scared that they’re just going to gun anyone who *they believe is Israeli who tries to come into Palestine* because wow! thats exactly what they’ve been doing to Palestinians - but on Palestinian land! then you tell me what solution you have because tell me how that makes any sense. otherwise… Israel will just have to prove that its word can be trusted. and understand international consequences for if that trust is betrayed. and if they think they’re above international law then that’s a completely different problem.

and then for Israel to fix its own culture because wow. society there might be a little deranged if very public acts of dehumanization of Palestine, both on land and online, isn’t at all greatly critique by many people in Israeli society. fix that first please and thank you.

also really funny thing I noticed - a lot of people who love to bothside the genocide but claim they aren’t a zionist love to also say how “Israel’s Dome keeps us safe, not us inhumanly crippling the Palestinian population” like their “only” practise of defence is a humanitarian one. but okay. if they have the technology for this and everyone is very confident that it is Israel’s Iron Dome that keeps everyone safe - why do they not have the technology/surveillance to correctly identify between a Hamas member and a child? i don’t even think surveillance technology is necessary for that.

Thsi episode was awesome. It was funny and sweet and it had great characterization.

The episodes that don't focus on house are so fucking funny, you get to see an outsider perspective in all of his madness. The scene where wilson and cuddy discuss something normal when suddenly houses team goes flying past them with an almost dead patient comes to mind.

Fun fact!!! Lockdown was the first house episode directed by hugh laurie himself!! I just thought it was interesting. But ye everything you said, taub and foreman getting high off vicodin just because is a hysterical prelude to their s7 dynamic (i know that u haven't watched s7 yet. Just mentioning it as something you can look forward to). And House of course...."im sorry i didn't get your case." "Im sorry too". House always tortures himself over the consequences of his actions but theres also something to be said about the consequences of his inaction in this episode. I love it when the show goes out of its way to break its own formula.

Also i read the wiki page about this episode before answering this ask to refresh my memory on it (the wiki is far from perfect lmao but i do enjoy it sometimes). It has some sections that i found myself fascinated by.
