The man does try to make time for you though! It's just some things cannot be delayed, like a demon eating people.

Exactly because of these responsibilities he has, he became a reliable man and partner.

You count on him for anything you need!

I feel like Juuzo lies on the lowkey romantic guy.

It's hard to tell what he is thinking or if he is telling you the truth sometimes.

But exactly because it is hard to know what he is thinking about, it also make it all very fun.

It all happens suddenly and in a drop of the hat.

Mephisto really enjoys gifting you clothes.

He balances it out between your's and his taste.

The demon also enjoys gifting you things, it can be something completely random or just flowers.

He knows about everything you like and he does an excellent job at gifting you something you would love!

Mephisto enjoys having you on his lap while he watches something from above on that fancy chairs of his.

Would you fit next to him? Probably, but lap is better.

The demon is unhinged, so brace yourself.

He doesn't care if you are human or not, an exorcist or not.

If you are an exorcist you, he won't treat you very different regarding missions.

But like i said before, sometimes is hard to know if he is telling the truth.

So, whenever this happens, he takes the day off to be with you.

Anything you want. He will not answer any calls, go to the school, nope.

It's a day for you and you only.

Mephisto will also say some cheesy things to you - like pickup lines or beautiful sayings.

He tries really hard to shake your insecurities away.

In the end of the day, the best he proves to truly love you on a normal day to day thing.

How? By choosing you over anything else, unconsciously.

He does care about you a lot, the demon is willing to sacrifice whatever in order to keep you safe.

Of course, he wouldn't let you know about the lengths he is willing to go to protect you - he knows it may upset you.

Well, I've decided to write a lil thing for the child au :> It's the au that I have most neglected, mainly because I don't get any inspiration for it 😭 (idk, just... nothing comes to me, you know?)

BUT I did manage to get this, mainly from my experiences... or maybe that was just me. Either way, I remember taking pictures of just about anything and posting them to my myspace (OOOF) soooo........ enjoy :>

“—A camera!” Naoya grins as he proudly shows off his newest acquisition, a gift from one of his grandparents; the latest digital model found in the market!

And perhaps something the adults might’ve wanted to wait a bit longer before getting, or at least put up some resistance against Naoya’s never-ending fits when it comes to impressing you…

“What do you think? Nice, right?”

You stare at it for a few seconds, before giving him a big, bright grin and a nod.

“Yes!”

Naoya’s heart flutters—his purpose accomplished.

“I knew you’d be able to recognize excele—exclen—excellency!” he boasts, whether he knew the meaning of that word meant or not, is a mystery for both.

“What are you going to do with it?” you curiously ask. You’ve never had a camera, even though you’ve long expressed your interest for it, (your parents were a bit more… sensible when it came to spoiling you.) Nonetheless, what Naoya’s got was also yours, much to their chagrin.

“Take pictures, of course!”

“But of what?” you pout, frowning.

There’s actually so many things he wishes to do with his new camera, things that he’s partially done already, from taking pictures of the new figures he’s got from his favorite anime to the drawings he’s been slowly working on to impress you…

However, he had a reputation to maintain, and such, he gives you the response he thinks will make him look the coolest, straight from Naoaki’s —his oldest brother— book.

“I don’t know, just, whatever I guess.” He shrugs, copying every mannerism, down to the tone, to impress you.

But to you, he only appeared absent-minded, as if he was foolishly failing to realize the great opportunities having a camera presented!

And thankfully, you’d come to his aid. Unknowingly creating a win-win situation for the two.

“Oh, I know! We can take pictures of us doing cool poses!” you grin. “Like the ones in my brother’s posters!! Or that anime you were watching the other day!!”

“That girl group?” Naoya twists his lips, not very… fond of your idea at first, until the frown on your face rectifies his response. “I mean—If that’s what you want…”

Of course, what he said wasn’t what he felt, for the moment you grabbed his hand with your soft one, tightly holding onto him as you led him towards your room, he was nothing but willing to do what you desired.

He’d silently observe you take out a few of the magazines you managed to sneak out of your brother’s room (Ren’s very aware of it, he just lets you keep them, happy to share his enjoyment for the Spice Girls.) and get ideas of what poses to replicate—down to the smallest details.

Naoya’s commitment had some limits, though.

“I don’t know if I want to do that one…” Naoya murmurs, slightly embarrassed, fearing what he’ll look like before you if he accepts…

“Why not? I even got the clothes!” you encouraged. Kind of. They’re your best attempt at something like that. It’s the thought that counts, though.

But in the end, you let Naoya not take part in the activity, solely because he got an even better job to do—that is, being your own personal photographer.

A camera is something that you’ve always been allured to, especially the instant ones where you can get the picture immediately after, so to hear that your best friend is getting one, and that he’s more than happy to share this adventure with you, is like a dream come true!

So, the two begin to take all kinds of pictures, with just about any pose you could think of, and landscapes to choose from; getting more and more ideas the longer this photoshoot went on.

Eventually, Naoya would also feel comfortable enough to take pictures with you; although truth to be told, he was hoping to get one either way, realizing that by doing this… he’ll have a piece of you to take come.

The thought of keeping your adorableness through pictures is enough to fill his heart with this growing sentiment he has yet to discover as love—or perhaps completely understand, achieving so until much older…

When he isn’t fretting about your increasingly worrisome choices, that is.

“Take a picture when I’m jumping down the edge!!” you’d say. “I’m going to do this cool pose like in Naruto, so be ready!!”

“Y/N, wait!” He cries, camera unprepared, while fearing for your wellbeing. “What if you get hurt?!”

“I’m a ninja! I can’t get hurt!”

The number of scares you’d put him through that day are ones that he’ll never forget, the mere thought of them enough to send shivers through his spine…

But even then, he didn’t complain much. Because he was nothing but happy see you smile and laugh, proof that his decision was the right one, yet again, just to show how well he’s gone to know you—already planning what to get when you eventually grow tired of the camera…

If he doesn’t destroy it first when his brothers eventually discover his embarrassing photos.

“Naoya, come here please!” You’d call from another room, a request that was immediately granted just a few seconds after when he crosses through the doors.

“What is it, my love?” Naoya asks, throughout the years, his determination to please you has never dwindled.

“Look what I found!”

“Oh, its—”

The same camera he got all those years ago, the first one he’s got. A relic of his childhood, in other words.

“The camera, that one! Remember?” you say. Rummaging through the moving boxes has been quite nostalgic as of lately, but you never expected to see something so… ancient, no offense meant. “Wow, can’t believe it’s here…”

“Me neither…” Naoya says, somewhat… nervous.

“Think it still has pictures from back then?”

Naoya immediately turns red.

“No!” he shrieks, making you raise an eyebrow. Did you forget, perhaps? “I mean—It’s old, who knows if the battery or memory are any good.”

“Let’s find out then!” you grin, quickly standing up to look for a compatible charger.

Naoya tries to stop you, kind of; he doesn’t really put that much of a fight whenever he sees you this enthusiastic, although he wishes he could’ve for once, considering how anxious he felt for the impending moment the camera turned on and revealed all those embarrassing pictures he innocently took back then.

To when you giggle graces his ears, amused by his antics…

But when the camera beeps on, he’s received with… well, nothing. Just silence as you diligently flick through the photos, each one received by your intense gaze that makes him wonder if perhaps the camera didn’t work anymore…

Until noticing the fluster in your cheeks, then did Naoya dare to ask what’s wrong.

“Y/N, is… everything ok?”

“Naoya… did you really… keep all these pictures?” you ask, slowly turning around to see him, revealing your burning face.

“I… did.” He silently admits, unsure where this is going, but convinced it wasn’t good. “I… well, you liked them, so I thought I’d keep them, in case you wanted to see them again, of course. I didn’t know you wanted me to… delete them.”

It’s funny to see that even when married, Naoya is just as anxious when it comes to openly expressing his feelings—he’s gotten better at it, of course, the two were now living in the same house together, hoping for a baby…

But maybe it’s the inner child in him, the one that never got to express his feelings back then, didn’t know how. Even though he wanted so, so much.

Which is coincidentally, the same reason that made your breath hitch to your throat, heart skipping a beat when realizing that Naoya, all this time, has…

“—You’ve always cared for me, haven’t you?”

Naoya blinks, caught off guard by the direction this conversation was heading; but even then, he nods, admitting what you confessed.

You knew that already; you wouldn’t have married him if that wasn’t the case.

It’s just that… to be reminded that Naoya always had your wellbeing in mind, probably since the moment he met you… melted your heart.

Truly, you had found your soulmate.

“Enough to even… take these silly pictures of me!” You add, it’s your turn to be embarrassed by all the goofy pictures you made him take; you knew you were nothing but a child back then, actions like these more than expected, but now that you were an adult… you can’t help but wince, covering your cheeks with your hands as you continue to fret. “Oh my god, Naoya—how did you even put up with me back then??! Seriously, look at this one!! It’s all coming to me now—I think I got hurt, didn’t I? Or at least that’s how it felt…”

“I guess I just liked you too much.” He says, a smile on his face.

“I guess you did.” You giggle. “Guess you must’ve had it real bad if you were willing to make silly faces with me! Though you looked far cuter than me, but then again, you were always good-looking.”

“What are you on, love? I don’t think either of us looked good.” he snickers, leaning down and looking at the camera. “Definitely not you on that photo.”

“Hey!” you gasp. “No need to go that low!”

“Or what?” he smirks. “Gonna make me take more pictures of you?”

You gasp. “I’ll take this as blackmail, then!” and then, you stand up, sprinting past the door and away from him, hoping to get a copy of these pictures onto the computer and let your evil scheming commence.

“Huh?! No you’re not!” Naoya says, running right behind you, eventually catching up to you and taking the camera away from your hands.

But you meant no harm, of course, not when the presence of them filled the two with nostalgia, fondly looking back to the moment the two were nothing but kids, yet, unknowingly fated to be with one another.

It’s always meant to be that way; to be happy together, whether in the past, the present, or the future.

One the two have yet to create, now as a family.

Which neither could wait for it to happen.

Naoya and YN growing to be together is the ultimate endgame. I will not discuss otherwise :) also, Naoya might be holding onto those pictures in hopes of showing them off to their future daughter, just to get back at her (Naomi is not thrilled, at all. It's probably the first time she thinks of her parents as weird)

Based on no character in particular, a ghost that roams the halls, finding joy and solace in scaring new students and "fixing" potions. Although he was orientated by a mirror to Pomefiore, he is not particularly tied to this specific dorm, and sees no harm in regularly visiting other dorms, including Ramshackle, where his three oldest closest friends reside. (Although Ignihyde is definitely his favorite because it has spinning chairs there lol) ___________

June was a self-motivated and confident child from an early age. The absence of a family did not stop him from immersing himself in his studies, so that over time he could proudly show the world the results of his hard work. So the appearance of the Black Carriage in front of him was the happiest moment in his short life. Of course, the coolest, strongest and most responsible Headmage is there! Maybe he will take him under his wing and teach him everything that will help him become just as amazing? Well.. The boy was disappointed. In any case! Pomefiore was not the dorm he was hoping for, but who cares, he will become the coolest in any dorm, and soon he will take the place of the housewarden, right? Overblot. Not his. Some student. Too strong, to the detriment of himself and others. The entire school was terrified of this terrible incident. Luckily, no one was seriously injured. No one, except for one freshman, poor thing, what bad luck…

"He was controlling some black spikes or something… I remember one of those things flying straight towards my head and that's go dark... When I opened my eyes, the sky was clear again and I was surrounded by ghosts. They were sympathizing with me and complaining about how young and unlucky I was. I have no idea where my body is, although I guess I don't need it anymore." ____________

Dom. hand: None "Have you ever felt like both your hands are left?" During life, June was right-handed. As a ghost, both of his hands seemed to stop working well. He could still do the usual things, like hold things and stuff. But writing and doing any neat work became difficult, like… Well, like doing anything with your non-dominant hand. - Dislikes: Awkward conversations "Yeah, I was named after a month." "No, "it" wasn't hurt." "No, I'm not going to tell you what it's like to be a ghost." "No, I'm not going to fly right through you on purpose." "What difference does it make to you how old I am?" "Stop asking questions like that!" - Talent: Change body forms

"Something that makes me different from other ghosts"? Oh, you mean my legs? Heh, the perks of being young. And smart, I guess. Study hard and you'll be like me someday. No, that's not what I meant-"

So, my hc is that ghosts can show their full body form (I think ghosts with legs are creepier, by the way), but they don't see the point in it. It also takes energy, and that's what it takes to be visible to humans. June prefers to show his full form, though he modifies it a bit. You don't want to see his ghost like he looked right after the incident, right? He's not a monster to scare poor students THAT much. ̶a̶l̶t̶h̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶f̶u̶n̶ "I'm not actually changing clothes, it's just an illusion." Ghosts remain in the clothes they were wearing when they became ghosts. However, if necessary, they are quite capable of visualizing the outfit that suits the occasion. Something simple, though. Pomefiore uniform appears on him when he gets to the dorm, but in other cases he either wears a school uniform or creates other, simple outfits. By the way, in more "capey" outfits, his bottom looks the same as other ghosts (like the bottom of Eliza's dress), for example in the Ceremonial robes, because its shape is already quite difficult to maintain due to all these patterns.

"Salpa" I'm not Floyd, so it was a bit hard to come up with a fishy nickname right off the bat. Of course, I think "Jellyfish" would suit him better, but since the nickname is already taken, what can you do.. In any case, I dug around on the Internet and found the most ghost-like sea creature IMO. Pretty creepy thing, I tell you…

"Monsieur Badluck"

Cutie-patootie Rook was unshakably convinced that the student from their dorm had fallen proudly in a heroic battle long ago, and not simply died due to his own stupidity and self-confidence. It was hard to talk him out of "Chevalier des Blots" and agree that it was just an unfortunate incident…

What are each koopalings fears and how do they react to them

I admit in advance that I was not too sure about this one ^v^' but I thought about this for a while and now I'll try to answer!

I will talk about the *main* or most *iconic* fears that came to my mind!

Ludwig: Talking about irrational fears, Ludwig is scared as heck from Pipe Organs. Not only of their sound, but also being close to one or even see one in the distance. This fear was actually developed by Lud after "The Incident", when, at the age of 15, a huge Pipe Organ actually collapsed on him while fighting the Mario Brothers (yes, an HC version of Pipe Down exist in my AU if you're wondering :P). He didn't touch that instrument even since and will refuse to come too close to one of his own will. He is also secretely afraid of failure related to missions or competitions he really cares about. Being so full of himself and all, he'll always picture himself as the obvious winner of a fight or a race or a contests even before the start, but in the end he will usually accept his defeat if his opponets were *actually* better than him - somethimes even compliment them. But...! If Ludwig was actually following some important orders from Bowser and ended up messing things up, if he could not prove himself as a perfect big brother to his siblings in tricky situations, or even if he could not "reach the podium" in some sort of musical competition he worked so hard for with his orchestra and all... well, in these cases failure will actually matter a lot, even affecting his self-esteem for a while.

Lemmy: This one is easy: Lemmy is afraid of growing up, responsabilities and adulthood in general. He's technically the second oldest, but having Ludwig as the "responsable one" as a big bro allowed Lemmy to spend time with his younger siblings playing and chilling without caring much about "responsabilities". But as he's growing up, his childish vibes started to feel more like a confort-zone for him, while the idea of being forced in a cold future made of burocracy, hard decisions and real responsabilty for his action really do bothers him - he's afraid he won't be able to play around and be silly and do wathever he feels like anymore, basically seeing adulthood as a sort of horrible prison made of boredoom and bags under the eyes.

Roy: Roy looks like he's not afraid of anything - well, he actually is afraid of Wendy when she's angry, but everyone in the family is, so this doesn't count. In reality, Roy has some secret fears nowdays, the biggest one being his fear of loosing his tough and cool mask in front of the others. He literally won't take off his sunglasses because he's ashamed of his heterocromia. He won't let his hair grow again after he found this style because he's afraid he won't look cool enough. Most of all, he will play the "rough guy card" claming that books are dumb and everything refined is for loosers, while he secretely enjoys reading and he can actually knows how to do things such as playing the violin (yes, you read it right). He won't admit in front of his family that he loves bunnies and would want one as a pet. He will mock Wendy's exagerate style while secretly wanting to polish his own claws pink or purple, and so on. He only talks about this with some friend out of the castle, but only in rare occasions and in a "but-I-am-joking-bro!" way.

Iggy: His siblings joke about he must be afraid of herbicide and rabbits, since he looks like a carrot. But in reality, Iggy seem to have no actual fears at all. He will laugh in front of his enemies and find deadly monsters cool as heck, and will probably try to study them at best or adopt them at worse. He can be sometimes annoyed or bothered by things in a "please-stop-doing-that-like-right-now" way, and he is a bit germophobic too, but rarely he'll be truly afraid of things or situations... except made for the times he looses his glasses. If this happens, Iggy will totally panic - he can barely see anything without them, and will lose all his composure if they break. When he was a kid, he often cried aloud or even weeped dramatically while trembling in a corner if he lost his eyeglasses, while now he'll just panic a lot while blindly searching for them in a very nervous way, usually asking Lemmy or Morton for help if near.

Wendy: Only a few things can actually scare the only girl of the group. One thing she's afraid of is her make-up or outfit being ruined during important events - especially if she spent hours choosing her clothing, trying different make-ups and so on. But if someone actually *does* ruin her appearance - usually Roy or Larry - then they are gonna be the ones scared for real as soon as Wendy stops being ashamed for the incident and start getting angry, REAL ANGRY instead. She's a a bit claustrophobic too, and she could get nervous if she suddenly finds herself in a dark and small space. The only exception for this is made for her seashell custom bed that she owns at one of her seaside residences - she feels safe enough inside it, even is she prefers to keep the upper part open a bit while sleeping.

Morton: Morton's biggest fear is hurting his siblings without noticing, or being unable to protect them, especially Junior. Morton wasn't too aware of his own strenght when he was younger, but after the incident of the Malatone Formula:X, when he found himself fighting his own siblings under the BFF' brainwash, he now is quite scared by the possibility of hurting them. Talking about more irrational fears, he is scared of bugs, especially if very colorful or noisy - he likes to observe the ones in Iggy's terrariums, but he could panic if he sees a butterfly or a wasp flying towards him during a trip, or a grasshopper jumping around randomly while he's walking on a field.

Larry: Larry's biggest fears revolve around Bowser's anger - especially, he hates being scolded in a "no please not again!" way and one time he even tried to run away from the Dark Lands to avoid his adoptive's father rage - and the deep fear that he will never reach his big siblings'. He's always trying his best to be noticed or complimented by them or Bowser, but nobody seem to ever notice all the effort he put on things. So Larry's starting to think that he will be always the "mediocre" one, that he'll never be as skilled as Ludwig, as cool as Roy, as carefree as Lemmy, so clever as Iggy, and so on.

Bowser Jr.: Junior is a bold and brave kid... apparently. He likes to think he has no fear exactly like his dad, and that nobody and nothing can stop him. But in reality, Junior is quite scared of the idea of being alone. Especially after the attack of Fawful in the Mushroom Kingdom and Dark Lands, Junior started to learn the importance of team work and all. He is also used to constant company - from his half-siblings, from servants and minion, and most of all, from Kamek - and if left on his own for too much time he'll start to feel gloom at first, and desperatly scared after some while.

"Jason not arguing/compromising in this situation is OOC because his stress response is fight" okay but stress response is context dependent, both environmental context (nature of the threat) and hormonal context (ie amount of cortisol currently in the body at that moment). And also the difference between fawn (aka the response used in negociation) and the other three stress responses (fight flight and freeze) is that fawn is a much higher response that requires higher cognitive function, social cognition etc. (which he has a looot of considering his life story), but also takes more time, so while Jason's immediate bodily reaction could be to gear up for an argument, he also completely has the abilities to evaluate that this is not the best strategy for his goals, especially since, while he is a very emotional character, he does also have impulse control and can be very (very very very) patient with his strategies (that man has some incredible impressive levels of inhibition sometimes, seriously utrh!jason wtf). And also people have the ability to learn, both in terms of complex reasoning, simple pathways and on a biological level, it's also very possible that after being stuck on fight mode for so long and getting hit after hit after hit (being caretaker for his mom and then himself as a little kid in a classist and violent environment, his mom's death, malnutrition, the general stress of being on the streets, M'a gunn, (skipping on Robin because of meta stuff to stick to the things everybody would agree are important stressors), his dad's death, exposed vey closely to sexual violence at 15 (at oldest, not even getting into the csa hc he already has sexual trauma), exposed to direct violent death at 15, being betrayed and sold out (does that count as trafficking?) by his biological mother (whomst he had attached himself to), being beaten + very brutally murdered, digging himself out of his fucking grave, getting hit by a fucking car (talk about overkill) being in the streets catatonic and still fighting, being in the league catatonic and still fighting, waking up to your life having been extraordinarily upheavaled, being told "you remain unavenged" and then pushed off a fucking cliff (even ignoring the brutality of that fucked up kiss because my talia is not a rapist), being sent to teachers and having (from his pov) to kill said teachers, to honestly all of utrh especially the final confrontation ending with a near death experience.... I mean, wouldn't you be tired? Even just cutting it off at utrh, wouldn't you be tired of fight mode? Jason's resilience is incredible, but resilience is neither a personality trait nor an infinity resource, you electrocute a dog often enough and it stops trying to jump out. And do I have to say anything, from a biological pov, psychological pov, from any pov really, about the events of Gotham War and The Man who Stopped Laughing? Because Bruce literally rewrote Jason's dna (which makes no fucking sense but whatever) to modify his stress response, he was quite literally forced on freeze mode, and Joker got him functional by rewriting those extreme amounts of stress as funny. At this point what makes the most sense is for Jason's stress response to be painful, uncontrollable bursts of laughter. I'm sorry if this sounds aggressive, I just really really like talking about psychology applied to character analysis and I'm not trying to be patronizing or anything, I just thought "hey I don't quite agree with that and that's an interesting conversation" and then the brain bees took over

Full disclosure every time I look at the KumoDesu Fandom I see a lot of takes I disagree with strongly (Reddit what did I expect really)… BUT hating on opinions you disagree with is super wrong instead you should spread opinions you love! So yknow what let me post some of my KumoDesu Opinions unprompted.

Here’s one my biggest HC: Why I see the Demon Army as Family:

I will die on the hill of Shiro and Ariel as the parents to Mera (Oldest), Kyouya (middle child), and Sophia (youngest). But here's sort of why I see the coding that way.

Not gonna be defending/explaining why I ship Shiro x Ariel, it’s obvious.

Shiro and Ariel give the most advice and guidance to the three of them (they quite LITERALLY raised Sophia). Ariel giving the talks working through emotions and Shiro being the more action based parent. They also quite literally are responsible for sorting out all their housing, schooling, and helping with employment.

Mera gives the vibe of the sibling with a bigger age gap than the other two, thus why he takes a less sibling bickering and more sibling guidance role (he also has the self esteem issues of an eldest child ngl). I wouldn’t say he ever takes a parental role so much because he feels more on Sophia and Kyouya’s level as opposed to Ariel and Shiro’s. Mera says word for word that helping Kyouya feels like having a younger brother as well. And since Sophia was originally his responsibility to look after but after Shiro and Ariel join them they mostly take over it gives the feeling of “orphan who expects they have to parent their much younger sibling only to be adopted and now only have it when they’re parents are at work”.

Sophia’s thing with Mera is mostly due to the envy skill. I think her real feelings are deep proactive feelings due to having no one close to her in her past life and the fact that after knowing the truth (and seeing all her flaws) he’s still determined to stick by her side. She’s literally never had that ever, not even a lesser more fair weather version of that. I will also say Ariel, Shiro, and Kyouya fall more into a “do rather than say” kind of love language so Mera being very verbal about his commitment probably floors her. I don’t think she actually wants to date him, I would put it more into “child mistakes familiar affection for romantic and say they want to marry their sibling/parent when young but grows out of it” (yknow what Shun was PRAYING was going on with Sue). I do think Sophia strongly gives the vibe of “overprotective sibling who with “test” all her sibling’s potential dates” to Mera. She’s gonna “vet” those people to decide if they’re worthy and hopefully they’ll live.

Sophia’s relationship with Kyouya is strongly “I’m the only one allowed to bully him” which is just sibling energy 101. She constantly taunts him in any way that proves she’s stronger but if someone else did that to him she would call pathetic and beneath him. Just, if you have a sibling would know this behavior very well. I do think Sophia gives off youngest (and problem child) vibes as always starting shit and needing the most attention from their parents. Where as Kyouya gives of more of a middle child (has severe issues) vibe, where he’s calmer and practiced at not responding to the younger one starting shit (which honestly only pisses them off more). He also did have a ton of siblings as a goblin (that he babysat a lot) so he’s just very practiced.

I know the Puppet Taratect’s as actually Ariel’s (and by extension Shiro’s) children but is it horrible of me to say they give off more pet vibes. Pets are still kids and you can be a pet Mom. I own cats and I LOVE cats, they have that strong energy. Just the fact that they don’t really need to be parented/taught/guidance but do need someone watching them to make sure they don’t get into things they shouldn’t. And the fact that anyone in their group can do it it’s not really something that needs a particular experience/angle. The fact that they’re self sufficient on their own but hang around because they want to is also very cat coded.

Couldn’t help but notice in your comment response on The Face of Spring that you seem to have some HCs in mind for the unnamed sisters of Théoden. If there’s anything you’d like to share on them, I am (as always) DEEPLY interested in thoughts about the most obscure of the Rohirrim! (No pressure, though, if there isn’t anything you want to say beyond that comment or if you’d rather keep it all for a fic or something going forward! 🙂)

I know I said I would take a while to answer this, but I was on public transport for hours today and this lot took over my brain, so here we go!

First of all, I would like to say that I have been influenced by your headcanons in some regards (highly recommend to fans of Rohan and obscure female Tolkien characters). For example, Théoden’s two eldest sisters have Gondorian names, although only one chooses to continue going by hers her entire life, and some of them also share similar fates.

Secondly, it is very important to me for the sake of torturing myself and the House of Eorl that Thengel and Morwen’s children die in the reverse order that they were born in, i.e. Théodwyn dies first and Gildis outlives all her siblings.

There is a noticeable bias towards Gildis in terms of headcanon material. This can partly be blamed on her living longer but is also just because as an eldest sister I am biassed toward my own kind (see Ivriniel).

Gildis (T.A. 2945 - Fo. A. 4):

Morwen chose this name as a means of honouring her husband’s heritage (since in Gondor the Rohirrim are traditionally seen as being direct descendants of the House of Hador and Gildis was Hador’s wife) while still choosing a name which would not be too out of place in Gondor.

The shortest of the siblings, at slightly smaller than Thengel’s height.

She had the strongest connection to Gondor, due to leaving it at age 8, and left Rohan in her early 20s to return to Minas Tirith. It was very difficult for her, since she had the distinct impression that her sisters resented her for leaving and her parents envied her. Before she left, Théoden and she definitely had a long, oldest siblings chat about the whole thing and he was the one she left on best terms with.

The child that Thengel was closest to and in whom he saw most of himself, which caused a fair bit of strain when she left. She wondered sometimes if her father’s coolness towards her came from the feeling that she was repeating what he did to Fengel.

Had the true ‘girl who is just like her father’ experience and she hated it.

She would become a scholar and an expert in women’s writings from early Gondor, even organising for several collections of old poetry to be properly translated and (re)published. Thanks to her time in Rohan, she also had a higher interest in oral histories than most Gondorian scholars.

She and Théoden continued to write to each other up until Gríma’s influence grew and Théoden sickened.

One of her favourite memories of Théoden was when he came to Gondor to attend the wedding of Caeveneth (one of Denethor’s sisters). The wedding itself was a bad start to a bad marriage but you wouldn’t know that talking to Théoden and Gildis because they spent the entire time catching each other up on gossip and becoming giggling drunk messes (once out of the public view of course).

She loves Gondor and does not regret her decision to leave Rohan, but she does miss her family a lot (nothing like moving to a different country to make you forget how annoying your baby sisters can be).

She’s something of an introvert, so wasn’t close to any relevant characters in Gondor (although I like to think that she and Faramir had a few nice conversations and that she has desperately tried to correct Duinhir’s pop-culture understanding of some historical events).

She's aroace (a concrete sexuality headcanon? from me?? will wonders never cease!?).

Has massive guilt surrounding the deaths of all her siblings, despite knowing logically that she couldn’t have stopped any of them. Elfhelm had a chat with her after the war about everything that went down with Gríma and Théoden and the kids and it was definitely one of those conversations that has both of you leaving it with a splitting headache, sore eyes and the feeling that someone just ripped your chest open with a saw.

She definitely helps Faramir learn Rohirric (although she is a bit rusty, it has to be admitted) and she develops a friendly relationship with Éowyn, although she does struggle at first with how closely she resembles Théodwyn and her mother, it’s vaguely disconcerting to her.

She outlives all her siblings and lives to see the Fourth Age of Middle Earth, dying in her sleep.

Moriel/Hrithwyn (T.A. 2952-3010):

The only one of the siblings to have Morwen’s hair colour, for which she was named. When they moved to Rohan, she pushed for a Rohirric name since, as she pointed out to her parents, she was too young to even remember Gondor when they moved, hence Hrithwyn, which means ‘storm-joy’ or ‘lover of storms’.

If you deduced from the name that she was the type to go for a walk in the rain then you are right and it drove Morwen round the bend. 

She loved riding and horses and just generally doing her own thing, something which she never lost throughout her life.

Drove Morwen to despair through her sheer inability to just sit still and do as she was told. They definitely had a few fights about her being irresponsible, which Hrithwyn always thought very ironic since she considered herself very responsible in view of the fact that she looked after Cyrtenes, her younger sister, who Morwen invested very little time in.

She liked her husband and they got on well, but they just weren’t really interested in each other, so no children came from that marriage, much to her parents’ frustration.

She spent most of her time with horses and actually oversaw the breeding and training of quite a few. Partly because of this and her generally very straight-forward nature, she was quite popular with the people she worked with, making her probably the member of the family most connected with people on the ground. Quite a few of these horses and their descendants were still in use by the Mark’s eminent warriors at the time of the War of the Ring (and quite a few of the black ones - which were Hrithwyn’s favourites - were in the service of Sauron :( )

She was the one who made sure that Éowyn got Théodwyn’s dagger that she has in A Monster in the Shadows and helped to teach her and Éomer how to ride.

She also had a massive sweet tooth and would bring her nieces and nephews sweets. She continued to do this for Théodred way into his adulthood (he did not complain).

Tended to be a bit bluff and was probably the least politically in tune of her sisters. Even Gildis, who was not into politics, would send Théoden info that she thought might be relevant to him about goings-on in Minas Tirith and Cyrtenes’ gossiping tendencies did come in handy now and then. Hrithwyn just struggled to care about things that weren’t horses, bless her.

She died due to taking a fall while out riding.

After her death, Théoden had a tapestry commissioned of her. It showed her astride her favourite massive black horse, on top of a ridge as the clouds came in. This tapestry was one of the decorations which Gríma had removed when he was securing his influence over Théoden, partly because it depicted his sister, partly because she was looking a little too capable and defiant in front of those rainclouds for Gríma’s liking.

Her death was something of a problem, since it marked the end of Théoden having a sibling at his side to act as an advisor and support. This also happened right at the start of Gríma’s tenure and it definitely did not help stop his rise to power.

Cyrtenes (TA 2955-3007):

Her name means ‘elegance’ or ‘beauty’, the latter of which she had from pretty much minute one and the former of which she eventually got as well.

Tended to get ignored within the family. Gildis was the oldest girl, Théoden was the only boy and heir, Hrithwyn tended to get attention because she was constantly riding off somewhere and Théodwyn was the baby of the family, so Cyrtenes kind of slipped through the cracks, which she did resent just the teensiest bit.

Wasn’t necessarily that close to Théodwyn because of this (and the 8 year age gap) but by the time they were adults they got on okay, even if she was at first jealous of her younger sister’s more successful marriage.

Morwen and Thengel were both kind of going through parental fatigue at the time that she was born, plus her being the first one born outside of their preferred home of Gondor, which all definitely contributed to the problem. Ironically, Cyrtenes was the daughter who tried the hardest to conform to Morwen’s idea of what a noble/royal woman should be.

Definitely the sibling most likely to pick a fight. Gildis was too mature, Théoden was too nice, Hrithwyn was not paying attention/not there and Théodwyn was too young most of the time, which left her free to be the difficult one. 

The most conventionally attractive of the sisters. Théodwyn was known for being beautiful, but in a bit of an austere, Númenórean way (I say this as someone who loves people who look that way, by the way), while Cyrtenes was softer and more ‘Rohirric’ looking.

Her own marriage was a bit of a disaster. It went okay for the first few years, but it rapidly became clear that she was putting more into it than he was (and more for the sake of that being ‘the thing that was done’ than because they were actually good together) and that they ultimately weren’t that well suited.

Still, they managed to have a daughter, Idis, who unfortunately suffered from bad health and eventually went to stay with her Aunt Gildis.

As time went on, Cyrtenes did learn the hard way to get on by herself and became a very efficient lady of the house, accidentally coming the closest to being her mother than all of her siblings. 

She’s probably the sister who grows the most over the course of her life. For her teen and young adult years she’s shallow, anxious, fretful and a bit mean, but over the course of her adult life, she gained a calmer, more mature outlook and greater confidence in herself outside of playing a part. Her temper was still something to be watched out for, but she tended to direct it more calculatedly when she was older.

Resented Gildis for getting to essentially be mother to Idis, but by that time she was old enough and mature enough to eventually realise that she wouldn’t want Théodwyn to resent her for helping look after Éowyn and Éomer. Towards the end of her life, she struck up a correspondence with Gildis for the first time since she left and they were able to develop something of a friendly relationship. In one of them she made a joke about the habit ‘among Thengel’s children of passing their children between each other for mothering. Anything to avoid looking after our own offspring.’

Had a few affairs over the years (Elfhelm, I’m looking at you) but they were all pretty lowkey and short-lived since she was quite busy and didn’t want to cause a scene (we can’t all be Ivriniel, after all).

She and Théoden became closer after Théodwyn died, as she helped to look after Éowyn and Éomer, which is nice since they weren’t really that close before.

She died of cancer after a long and indignant struggle, with Hrithwyn, Théoden and Elfhelm in the room with her. She was the only one of his sisters whom Théoden was able to be with when she died.

They were really young when they both died, so would they have more babies if they lived? Oh sure!! This should be very fun. The Dance not happening AU could mean a lot of things so there would be many variables, so bear with me a bit haha. (And thank you for the compliment, dear! <333) [also I'm sorry for the length of this if you ask me about the kids I really can speak for HOURS about my hcs.] Helaegon as Parents, Part 2 - No Dance AU Headcanons

⁎ For the if they had more babies question - probably yes! I don't see them abstaining. I think as the first kids grow older Helaena might specifically want more childen, but generally they would just happen as it is the way of life, regardless of planning or not planning. ⁎ Speaking about more children - Helaena and Aegon would be so bad at naming, lmao. They wait until the baby is out to decide, lol. I think Jaehaerys was named after the Old King via Alicent influence and Jaehaera was named in tow to fit, so Maelor would've been the first true name they've chose (I personally imagine that was from Helaena; also for the record, I genuinely don't believe it had anything to do with Maegor lol). Anyways, they would suck at it, and I imagine they'll have a lot more joke names they talk about. Imagine Aegon coming to Helaena like "Daemon the Younger. To piss uncle off." (He got very inspired from Aegon III's naming pettiness😂) and Helaena is like "I should kill you and make our son Aegon the Youngest" LMAO. ⁎ I always said this, but I do feel like there would be a cycle of hardship in the family; Aegon and Helaena were both not exposed to the best of parenting and Aegon will continue to struggle with his substance abuse/vices, which will obviously have effect. I have gone on several tangents on how I can see him and Jaehaerys butting heads like crazy as the father vs the oldest son. I do think there are times Aegon would try harder to be an active parent, especially after Jaehaerys and him get into a big fight, or Jaehaera mediates, or Maelor being visibly upset. I also think there inherent guilt in Aegon for a lot of things, I do think he will try to be better after he gets a few slaps from his first children, as he doesn't want to be like Viserys. His younger children will get the better of it, likely. I like to think he could find power in the fact his kids believe in him still despite everything. ⁎ Helaena would be such a sticky mom ahhh. Jaehaerys could grow taller than Otto and she would still look at him like he's a baby, Jaehaera she would want kept close too (As Alicent wanted her close, cough) and not even speaking about Maelor! I do believe all the kiddos would have her side on most things - Jaehaerys and Maelor being Biggest Defender no. 1 and Intern Smoll Defender no. 2. Jaehaera is The Conciliator coded and she tends to be midway, she'll probably be the one who is most honest with Helaena. ⁎ If Helaegon have more kids, needless to say the first three would be a pretty hands on crew of sibling help. Probably particularly the twins. I think Maelor might have to go through an ick phase at having a younger sibling always on his toes, though really he was just the same to the twins when he was born.

⁎ Some Teenage personality headcanons: Jaehaerys - mr. Trying to be good enough and work hard to be good enough. Extrovert using humor to cope, can be shady and also defensive like dad. Feels like he has a very big responsibility to help mom and family. He takes to a warhammer as a weapon in the future as he has a grip of six✨ Jaehaera - Careful in her steps, emotional intellegence based girl who is a bit too kind on other people sometimes. Likes to sew, and she makes her own dolls as she grows older. Introverted but Tries. Can be awkward when she's not used to someone or can't tell what they're like. Maelor - forever the first family baby, but he is the type to try and push against it LOL. I actually imagine him a bit more bookish and curious. Skinnier kid but has quips and he talks back. I think he's shyer outside of the family, people that don't know him gaslight Aegon his son is not a menace at all, "all he does is read books in the library and be cute are u fr" vibe, but in reality he learned from brother to not take shit. He's a Grandma kid for sure, I like to think he reads to Alicent back when she's elderly. ⁎ To end this off, on marriage proposals and the likes: I think no matter what AU spoken of, one thing that Helaegon would always agree on is that they would prefer their kids to find a love marriage, and I very much believe they would not be into putting them into Targ incest shenanigans unless the kids express they want it. this is one thing they want to break the chain in and are in full agreement - helaegon do not want the kids to have the same burdens they had to deal with. Overall this topic is muddy because its very much depends on the cirucmstances of things, but in the grand scheme of things - if helaegon are not pressured for alliances/not reigining king and queen, love marriages would be preferred if not at least arranged marriages where the prospective spouse is well regarded and of fitting status. If they are pressured for alliances as king and queen - Houses like House Lannister that are Green supporters will likely be considered first, then general houses that can benefit the crown and stability of the realm (possibly even Rhaenyra's family if its to keep the peace), and only then proper houses where the kids find someone they like. It is the feudalistic monarchy way. At the end there would be an attempt to give the best for them, one way or the other.

Doesn't talk a lot other than simple one-worded responses

^ Luckily, Aiden is a mind reader and always knows what she wants (and he’s secretly her favorite while regressed bcuz of this)

Easily entertained but also easily bored

Follows whoever is closest like a little baby duck. Especially if someone (Taylor and Aiden) is regressed with her.

No one has really taken the title as her “caregiver” because;

1: she doesn’t really care like that, and it feels too serious (and also awkward) (but thats me projecting)

2: everyone already takes care of eachother, and since shes so low maintenance while regressed, it’s hardly different to treating her as normal, so why bother taking the title?

BITES AND CHEWS EVERYTHING. Her hair, nails, blankets or pillows around her. pencils have been demolished.

Her 2 comfort items are a stuffed animal (a seal, given to her by aiden) and a VERY old doll from when she was actually a child, given to her by a dance instructor from a party gift-bag or something

Mostly an involuntary regressor in the sense that she doesn’t really notice she’s regressing until she’s regressed

Doesn’t hate her regression, it’s just a thing she does, but does see it as a … vulnerability, since it makes her feel vulnerable.

uncoordinated & clumsy which can frustrate her, since when she’s not regressed, she’s agile and meticulous with every movement

TAYLOR

Oldest of the regressors! (7-10)

Talkative, which is good because she’s extra needy (easily bored and will loudly complain to whoever until she is no longer bored)

love-love-loves arts and crafts!!!

Needs very specific requirements to be able to regress; calm environment where she is incapable of being stressed (extreme voluntary regressor, basically)

regresses the least compared to Aiden and Ashlyn because of this (and out of the 3, Aiden regresses the most)

not the clingiest of the regressors— surprisingly, such an award goes to Ashlyn!— but when it comes to the her, Taylor is pulling Ashlyn to whatever activities seem most fun, or joining Ashlyn in whatever she’s doing.

^but the latter frequently leaves her bored, since Ashlyn is often doing more simple activities. Taylor always wants to do more than just color, resisting to bend and crease the coloring-pages to fold it into something cooler.

Tyler is the closest thing to a caregiver for her, only because she complains the most to him. Because he grew up with her, he usually knows what she’s about to complain about before she can.

Ie; Her attention has been drifting from the cartoon that was put on and she’s fiddling with the cuff of her sleeve or fidgeting with whatever ; she is bored, and about to whine about such. Tyler drops a stack of colorful construction paper and all other sorts of office supplies near her to play with before she can get too antsy.

(he already put up with her never ending phase of such whining when she was actually 8, and will do whatever he can to avoid it a second time.)

AIDEN

right in the middle, between ashlyn’s and taylor’s ages (5-7)

very independent regressor (bcuz he was alone a lot when he was younger, and alone when he first started regressing, so he just adapted to that)

^but is always happy to be with his friends!!! he’s extra attentive to them and likes to offer his things to them (often, they amuse him and hold whatever he gives them until he asks for it back)

either concerningly quiet for long periods of time or very talkative and loud for too long

still vehemently mischievous (will misplace someones drink or the TV remote, or wait forever for someone to get off the couch to take their spot)

has known of / has been regressing the longest (approx a year longer than ashlyn and taylor)

I'm gonna write about my hcs for Homura as a system bc she has a Lot going on from that angle. I was going to wait until I finished a chart I had been drawing and sorted out each part's 'role' to my satisfaction, but I Really want to share it it's my favorite puella magi hc.

Ok so Akemi Homura. Firstly she has been through a LOT of trauma and bullshit so it's not even remotely a stretch to consider (esp given she has a history of frequent medical issues even before the main story).

Secondly she has some dissociative instances that happen as pretty plot-relevant things - the entire plot of Rebellion, for one. And, depending on how 'canon' you view it, Wraith Arc is another example of dissociative coding wrt memory issues/barriers, and carries a lot of plural coding on its own. Not to mention her incredibly detached approach in everything is a form of dissociation, as a response to being in an ongoing traumatic situation (being a magical girl and constantly having her friends taken from her or turning on her)

And honestly I'm just citing base examples off the top of my head and could most likely go into more in depth analysis for any of these points.

So she gives me strong system vibes. But furthermore, she'd be a rare case in media of a character with Multiple alters beyond just the 'good vs evil' trope, had this been done intentionally. And so I've picked out multiple alters that would compose her system, between the anime storylines and Wraith Arc, so I'm gonna list those out. As I said I haven't sorted out everyone's function/origin Thoroughly but I have pretty clear ideas for each.

Glasses Homura or 'Moemura' - the closest to the undissociated Homura, chronologically speaking and potentially in terms of function/personality. Might just have been the host for her daily life prior to her contract. Represented of course by wearing glasses, but her hair being braided (as seen in Rebellion) is another shorthand indication of her presence in the scene.

Akemi Homura, as we see her in the main series - most likely the second oldest alter seen by us. Formed directly to function as the main face of the system, as well as the system protector most likely. she's a sort of shield for the system by detaching all of her trauma and past timeline experiences from the present moment, acting as coldly and shut off as possible to further their collective goal (saving Madoka) and prevent emotional overwhelm. This also doubles to protect her more vulnerable alters and emotions, because as seen in flashbacks of earlier loops letting those show more often backfires than helps.

Wraith Madoka [Wraith Arc] - an introject alter modeled after Madoka. Unfortunately I haven't reread much of her part and my notes on her are elsewhere but I think she exists as a sort of... maybe soother for the system in a way, helping Madoka feel real in a reality where she is not.

Rapunzel Witch/Wraith Witch [Wraith Arc] - I'd probably classify this witch as a persecutor or other aggressive alter. She is born from the old memories and trauma, which is rejected by Homura in this story via memory manipulation (dissociation). This is done because this witch threatens Everything Homura has fought for and is initially represented in the story as Madoka's witch self, Kriemhild Gretchen, which further pushes that divide. The Rapunzel Witch is then fused with a Wraith and grows out of control, fueled by the power of Another antagonist to Madoka's world order (according to Homura's pov). The Wraith Witch then begins killing everything instantly, including Mami and Kyouko, and sets about destroying what Homura holds dear and/or has sworn to protect and keep safe.

Ai [Wraith Arc] - not entirely sure if I should count her separately from Wraith Madoka or not? Narratively she's essentially The Same Individual but everything about her is different functionally, so it might be a subystem deal or a case where Wraith!Mado split off of her. Ai was born narratively to manage Homura's memories, a representation of the 'miracle' that lets Homura retain her memories of the old reality. But she functions independently of Homura at points, as 'a part of Homura's soul that was eaten by a wraith'. She is the essence behind the creation of Wraith!Madoka as well as the individual behind its independent movements, all unbeknownst to Homura herself during this storyline.

Clara dolls [Rebellion] - these are already pretty clearly defined for us by the text, I think primarily as emotional holders and/or maybe fragments. I'm likewise unsure if I'd count Wraith Arc's Ai as part of their number, she has the same name as the unseen doll Ai but her function is somewhat different in practice. This might be chalked up to her being more consistently active than the others though, given how much "Ai (love)" drives Homura forward

Homulilly (black dress) [Rebellion] - I think I'd break her into two alters, given we have the black dress homura and then the fully-formed witch. In terms of black dress.... She's hard to gauge since I think her behavior blurs a lot with Homura's? But her motivation is different. She might also be a protector, but designed specifically for her Witch counterpart.

Homulilly (witch) [Rebellion] - This witch is most likely a trauma holder, which I think is pretty self-explanatory given what we see of her on-screen. I would probably count any portrayals of Homura during her scenes as Also her, especially the scene with Madoka's arm reaching through the window to her.

Homucifer [Rebellion] - whoo boy ok. Not sure what I'd classify her as. With her whole spiel and self-assignment of "The Devil of this world" she leans into persecutor territory in a way? But, her true motivation has nothing to do with painting herself as evil or punishing herself. Nor is her true motivation being Selfish and taking what she wants without thought. Her true focus is that Madoka becoming a God, separated from her friends and family, was Wrong, and so Homucifer exists to forcibly reunite Madoka with the life she gave up, no matter the cost. Selfishness is a factor, as is self-deprecation, but really her aim isn't anything straightforward beyond furthering the collective system's united goal of Saving Madoka, so idk what her Function is beyond filling that niche in a way the others can't.

So that's what I've got on her! Hopefully it all makes sense, if anyone has anything to add feel free!

HCs for how the dagoth siblings were in life i suppose that my brain has cooked up

for starters they all share the same mother (morvani) who was leader of house dagoth before voryn took over. but he had multiple husbands in her effort to try and get a respectable heir

gilvoth: the oldest and most over-protective of voryn. very easily angered and way too hot headed

vemyn: second oldest, also can be very hot headed, though not as much as gilvoth. secret soft side he will open up to his brothers with from time to time, more playful than gilvoth and got the two of them in trouble growing up all the time

uthol: quite and contemplative, but ultimately does best when he has others to back him up. errs on the side of too cautious as opposed to too impulsive like vemyn and gilvoth, doesnt actually enjoy being in a position of leadership but does like manipulating people

endus: focuses too much on the arcane arts and other studies to really want to be heir. very smart, but likes to avoid actual responsibility. isnt above things like human experimentation, and may or may not be interested in necromancy (which he keeps a closely guarded secret)

tureynul and ordos: twins, mostly influenced by their two oldest brothers. tureynul loves fighting and the sword and is is very impulsive, ordos likes destruction magic and is also impulsive. you can see these two idiots sparring with guards regularly. and tureynul swearing at ordos for accidentally setting him on fire regularly

araynys: voryn’s only full blooded sibling from the same father. he can have a pretty nasty mean streak when he wants to, but is the most passive of the siblings, instead preferring to keep peace within house dagoth. also very good at subtle manipulation. has a gentler face and softer voice that people don’t expect from house dagoth, which he can and will use to his advantage. also hes the tallest because voryn and araynys’ dad was tall as hell.

AND voryn: the youngest and baby of the family. what, you thought the heir would be the oldest? absolutely not. morvani was practical and going to pick the most promising kid for the job, even if she had to have 8 kids to pick one. voryn can be both ruthless yet controlled, able to act nonthreatening for negotiations if need be, clever but still dedicated, and most important wants to run the house. he isn’t overtly cautious and afraid to act like uthol, but not impulsive like many of his brothers, and not so passive and afraid of conflict he ends up dragging his feet like araynys. the perfect balance for morvani, or at least close enough.

she loved all her sons tbh but she liked to spoil voryn bc voryn wasn’t naughty all the time and showed a lot of promise. though she also would spoil araynys a lot too because he wasn’t an impulsive idiot. uthol and endus would have been spoiled more if they didnt get embarrassed about it tbh

vemyn was actually the closest to their mom :> he liked helping herd his siblings around and acting like her assistant.

The origin story of my unhinged big bro Jake hc that exactly one person asked for like months ago

It spawned from an interaction with one of my friends during Pirates of Penzance rehearsals back in 2018. I made some sort of joke that prompted her to cover my mouth, which naturally I licked. She recoiled for a second before recovering my mouth and saying something to the effect of "Do it, I have younger sibling."

Blorbo brain activated and I thought "Huh, it'd be funny if this happened with the squip squad." The plan was for it to appear as a banter scene for a fic but that fell through, as did my mental health. I had decided that Jake would be the one covering Jeremy's mouth (projecting at its finest) and wanted to think of a surprising number of siblings for Jake to have that were spaced out in age in such a way that most kids wouldn’t necessarily connect them easily. So I landed on the line "Do it, I'm the oldest of five."

But Jake is all but canonically an only child! How does that make sense? THROUGH CONVOLUTED CONSPIRING AND WACKY CHARACTER ANALYSIS/PROBABLY MAKING UP SOME SELF INDULGENT BULLSHIT :D like i said, the origin was entirely ridiculous and was Not based in canon at the time, but I like to think Parts of it Could Make Sense Kinda based on certain aspects of his character.

The idea of Jake needing to grow up faster because he's on his own more often than not is solid on its own, but needing to take care of younger siblings too?? That's definitely gonna exacerbate the pressure to be good enough for others, especially kids that depend on you. We see that he can be serious and sweet when it matters ("I don't wanna do every extracurricular at school. I just wanna do yours.") but most of the time he doesn't take things seriously or responds to them in a childish way (big blowout parties to avoid being alone in a big empty house), both of which would demonstrate roles as caregiver and fun older brother to play with.

But wait, Jake says "the house is empty," during Upgrade. Where are four other kids gonna be? This is where it gets convoluted bc Nostalgia-Fueled Coping (aside from these kids having other friends.) So Jake is gonna have some other family that catches wind of what's going on, right? In the case of my fever dream, it's his grandparents. They see that this high school kid is Struggling™️ and just take the kids into their place because we can't have horses babysitting dogs right? So Jake should just move in with them and Be A Kid right?

Weeell now he's got a slight responsibility complex and has to look after their parents' empty house just to make sure nothing bad happens. And so that he can tell them whats up when they come home and only find 1/5 kids there. Featuring projected insertion of my friend's mastiff Alice that he also has to look after bc I based a lot of Jake's humor off of him + his sister ok I TOLD YOU IT WAS SELF-INDULGENT

But he's got a dog! He's not alone! Pets are great and all but they are Not a substitute for friends or parents.

So why does he get all reckless and start throwing giant ass parties if he's trying to be the responsible one? He's a teenager, he runs on hormones, poor coping mechanisms, and "fuck it."

General stuff, oldest to youngest i see them like this: green, purple, blue, yellow, red, second. i HC that stickfiguresfighting.dotcom is actually a job they all had and that was the way they met (before second), Yellow wanted independence, Green overall just needed to start making money, Red wanted to really fight other people and he dragged Blue along Following up, Blue and Red are siblings, Blue being the oldest and often looking after Red when they were small.

Finch Rambles: Rebels edition

Some headcanons about Commander Sato and Mart Mattin, brought to you by my old journals.

Jun Sato could be the youngest person in the room and still give off “older brother” vibes.

He’s the oldest of two brothers. I hc that the younger brother (Mart’s father) is named Isamu.

His ways of showing affection are hugs, warm smiles, and polite compliments. Hugs are usually only given to people he knows well.

Sato has known Bail Organa since the Clone Wars. And he’s visited him and Breha on Alderaan many times. That being said, he gets along well with Princess Leia.

Briefly crossed paths with Anakin and Padme during the Clone Wars, and saw enough of their interactions to have the (correct) suspicion that they were lovers. He chose not to tell anyone, not even them.

Before the events of Rebels Season 3, Sato keeps in close contact with Mart and his parents.

He calls Isamu via hologram before going on a mission, and sends Mart holos of all the planets he’s visited.

Early on, he’s able to visit Mykapo fairly often, but it becomes increasingly difficult as his responsibilities as a rebel commander pile up.

Eventually, he’s only able to make it home a couple times a year—- one of those times being on Mart’s birthday.

During such visits, Sato travels to Mykapo alone. Most of the lower-ranking members of Phoenix Squadron believe he is on a solo recon mission.

Following his brother’s untimely death, Sato tries for days and days to contact Mart, but gets no answer. Part of him fears the worst, but he also holds out hope that Mart is still alive.

Someone inevitably asks why Sato can’t just go look for his nephew. His response: “I have a literal squadron to look after!”

Mart’s ways of showing affection:

Hugs. Lots of them. He can just tell when someone needs one.

Punches, but with love. (Reserved for his squadron mates and Zeb)

“Hey, wanna play this hologame with me?”

“I’ll just sit here and keep you company”

Letting other people fly the Hammer (his ship)

Mart goes into hiding after his father is killed, and purposely doesn’t contact his uncle. Not because he doesn’t want to talk to him (there’s nothing more he would want), but because he’s scared of what the Empire would do if they intercepted the transmissions.

Mart is about 3 years younger than Luke Skywalker. And they’re both rebel pilots who have Wedge Antilles as a mutual friend.

His friendship with Luke is partly “whoa this guy blew up the Death Star!” and partly being the chaotic younger brother.

Not impressed by the fact that Luke is a Jedi. (Mart has met two Jedi all ready, and they were much better with a lightsaber than this guy.)

Although Mart would gain some respect for Luke’s Jedi powers after between the events of “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”
