My headcanons for the named trio in The Cursing of Chateau Castle series:
Josephandre is a big bear. It just fits for him I think! He gets he/him pronouns, and as a way to make him a liiiil more relatable for Mira, he'd have two craft types (Rock type being his main one and paper craft for the other). Battle style wise, I think it fits him to be more of a self-sustaining tank. He buffs defense, heals, and puts up shields. For his weapon, he'd use his fists like Isabeau. He'll be the second fastest in the trio.
Lady Irene-Janine-Kanine looks like an elegant noblewoman on the outside but she has vibes similar to Euphrasie! She gets she/her pronouns. Her craft type is Paper. Battle style wise, she's more on the offensive side, a main dps kind of thing. Most of her skills focus on buffing attack and speed, she'd have an item that helps regen her hp a lil bit and her chosen weapon is an umbrella. The tip is a sharp blade so it's used like a spear that has a hidden sword in its handle. Open it, and it becomes a shield! That'd be one of her skills too, although it's only applicable to her. She's the fastest one of the trio.
Pierre-Jacques-Erneste looks like a nobleman and carries himself as such! He gets he/they pronouns. Their craft type is Scissors. Battle style wise, he's more of a debuffer, skills focusing on weakening the enemies, slowing them down, poisoning them. Their weapon is a sword dagger, though he doesn't seem to be able to handle it well, how clumsy! But he Is a nobleman so it makes sense! Oh but... why doesn't he have a title? They're the slowest one of the trio, how strange, he seemed to be faster than Lady Irene-Janine-Karine that one time though.
#aria rants#how do i even tag these things bro im like-- why am i such a fan of a fragmented series in isat#okay so-- josephandre relied mostly on raw strength when he was travelling all alone before meeting the others#and i think he'd have a fun uncle vibe to him. which makes it easy for others to approach him and befriend him#but he Also carries a sort of pride and dignity to him which makes the others mistake him for a nobleman cuz of it#esp considering the fact that he later became famous for helping those in need and such.#lady irene on the other hand. being a noble she's always had to keep her guard up. also doesnt help that noblewomen#got the short end of the stick what with the ''arrange marriage'' things and being below noblemen#her umbrella weapon helps a lot in warding off the assholes. i think that during the journey with josephandre's party#she got to finally be herself without needing to sugarcoat her words in a way that a noble should. she would also figure out a#way to improve on her shield spell to not only apply to just her but her entire party too. she cares a lot about them after all#meanwhile i got a Whole scenario for pierre (being an illegitimate child of a noble family and all that. i made a post bout it)#he's actually a lot more capable than what he makes himself appear as. but its like part of the plan on getting the others#to lower their guards around him for when pierre betrays them. in actuality pierre is actually faster than irene altho#not much stronger still (irene and josephandre are still stronger than him) considering that pierre mainly focused on#stealth type attacks. hes more used to using a sword than a dagger (he mightve wanted to prove their worth)#it makes their battle style and weapon clash due to the fact that swords arent that good for stealth much than a dagger#its one of the reasons why hes trying to get used to the dagger than the sword. but it is a bit difficult to learn a new weapon

Still thinking of the training sessions that Alkas had in the Temple. Just right in the middle where the altar is. And every so often, the Bhaalists watch him train/fight with Orin or someone else.

Britni Ref
Okay at least Britni's ref was completed much quicker after the last. Likely because I have some motivation for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Info under the cut
Britni the Sphinx
She/Her
Voice Headcanon: Allison Janney
Full name: Britni Mittens Caboodle
B-Day: August 1st 2121
Only child of Bratty and Catty. Probably doesn't have any cousins either. This bloodline ends with her.
Even though her moms are very... eccentric, she tends to take after her Aunt Catti more.
Cool, quiet, collected. To a frightening degree in fact.
In addition to speaking in a very monotone, sarcastic tone, Britni generally doesn't emote that strongly.
Her soul trait is Integrity
Britni doesn't really have a distinct primary magic, instead just having basic cat based bullets.
However in general, Britni relies on... alternate attack methods. Be those occult spells or just knives.
Despite not considering herself religious in really any form, Britni has an obsessive interest in religious mythos, particularly Christian mythology.
This also drives Britni's love and fascination with gothic and renaissance art and architecture.
Britni has an absurdly large collection of hair clips that she wears for different occasions. They are the own accessory she wears to spice up her usual sweater and jeans fit.
Additionally, Britni also has a rather large collection of elaborate knives and daggers, some of which should probably be in museums.
Though Britni is mostly a hairless sphinx cat, she does have some crocodilian traits like her other mom, mainly her pointy teeth and spines down her neck and back.
Britni's skin is also slightly tougher than an average cat monster's, having a slightly rough and scaly feel to it. This is probably why she doesn't mind Naomi biting her all the times
Britni's Dark World weapon class is a tome or spell book. Her base weapon is based off a stack of sticky notes Britni carries on her.
Her Dark World appearance has some sort of caster vibe, with the best class fit being a cleric. It also shares a color palette with Elymas.
On that note, Elymas is Britni's secret boss companion. Britni is seemingly the only person able to keep the prideful prophet in check.
Britni's other best friend is Naomi. She doesn't mind the fish's rowdy nature and in fact finds it endearing.
Outside the Junior Secret Squad, Britni doesn't actually really have any friends. She's seen as the weird, creepy kid.
Like her Aunt Catti, Britni is often on her phone. She's either recording the silly stuff her friends do, or researching the translation history of the Bible. ... Again.
Britni's names for her moms are Muddy and Mo-mo, with Bratty being Muddy and Catty being Mo-mo
Even if Britni finds her parental figures over bearing at times, she does still enjoy making crafts with them using upcycled materials.

"Kill This Love" spn Gabriel x Reader
(A/N: Look what I found in my notebook from about five months ago. The idea is written in pink mainly and some is in the margin in black in the beginning… Reader was put under a dangerous spell that forced them to have a fierce goal of killing Dean, Sam, Castiel, and anyone who got in their way. Warnings: canon violence, guns, angst, use of (Y/N), a dagger, mention of a wound (not descriptive). Word Count: 963 words)
~~~
It had snuck up on you. There had been no signs to alert you ahead of time.
Forced under a dangerous spell. A fierce drive to end Dean, Sam, Castiel, and anyone who got in your way. The perfect spell to put on a hunter.
The group hadn’t seen you in a few weeks. So none of them expected even your presence. Your last hunt was successful, but someone saw an opportunity.
Someone unknown and immediately on my list, you thought.
You entered the bunker in a raged trance. A handgun at the ready.
A bunker was hardly useful if its inhabitants were caught vulnerable, all safe, and relaxed.
Sam glanced up in surprise while setting the table for lunch. Any smile disappeared.
BANG!
“Ah! What—?” Sam dove behind the counter. Bullet in his leg.
You were lucky to have not aimed at a vital organ. Yet your legs continued you forward.
Dean came running in, weapon drawn, from the shot fired and Sam’s shouting. He was extremely shocked to see you.
You proceeded to unload the rest of the round trying to hit Dean.
Why don’t they get out of here? Trick me into a room!
The brothers’ attempts to reason with you fell through. You could listen all you wanted, but the struggle inside continued. You reloaded in a moment.
You wanted blood.
All the while they tried to get the upper-hand. Predictable.
Do something different!
Dean made an urgent call to Castiel as soon as Sam tackled you to the ground in an attempt to restrain you. The tall Winchester moved fast.
You hoped he was strong enough. You hoped they all were.
Castiel popped in while trying to assess the situation. Hearing as your mind watched on as your body attacked your friends. You were straining to take back control.
You bit Sam’s clothed arm. He backed off enough and your fist made contact with his wound.
Castiel moved in to intervene just as you pulled an angel blade out from your layers of clothing.
In a crouch, your expression was hardly your own.
“If you can not stop yourself, I will,” Castiel warned.
“Snap out of it!” Dean urged.
You eyed between the three of them.
Dean walked closer.
“Listen, (Y/N),” Sam said clearly. “Things will get bad—painful—you don’t want to do this. You can stop.”
Castiel and Dean stepped closer.
Of course I want to stop! I WANT THIS TO ALL STOP! I need help, please!
“We can help you,” said Dean.
Your grip on the angel blade only tightened. Fear of the pain to come didn’t stop you from targeting Sam again, him and his disadvantage you inflicted.
Curses echoed through the room.
To your horror, you were striking at Sam. Your friend dodged your attacks with experienced turns.
Kicking low, you made contact with his knee and lunged forward.
Contact wasn’t made.
Sam was unharmed.
Yet the spell over you was not yet broken. Your arms were in a vice grip. Blade unmoving in your hold.
“Easy.” Gabriel’s voice whispered from behind you. “Just give me a second, cupc—.”
In a small bound, you locked your legs around one of the archangel’s legs and pulled him down in a tumble of limbs.
No! Do something. Get the blade away! Hurry!
The two of you struggled. Only Gabriel was on defense, for the sake of you both.
“I don’t want to hurt you.” Gabriel yanked the blade away from you before tossing it out of reach.
Your body couldn’t wiggle out nor break any holds.
Gabriel snapped his fingers.
Tension washed away from your limbs.
You inhaled audibly.
It was over.
You fell into Gabriel’s chest, no longer resisting and attacking. Letting him take your weight as he sat up.
“I gotcha’,” Gabriel whispered.
Testing the movement in your fingers, you focused on your own breathing. Control was back and any thought otherwise unnerved you.
I never want that to happen again, you thought.
Gabriel rubbed a circle on your knee in comfort.
“(Y/N)?” Sam called. “Hey.”
You blinked and your heart sank.
“You good?” Dean asked, gun still in hand.
“I’m so sorry.” You finally spoke. Tears pooled in your eyes. “I’m so, so sorry.
“Hey, it wasn’t on purpose.” Sam reasoned.
“That doesn’t make it any better. It could’ve been so much worse.”
“Do you know who put the spell on you?” Castiel questioned.
The brothers looked to him pointedly.
“That’s what was going on?” Dean lowered his weapon.
“I don’t know who did it.” You admitted. “But I’ll gladly pay them a visit for what they made me do. I’m so sorry, guys.” Your gaze lowered to Sam’s leg.
Crap.
“Gabe,” you pointed to Sam.
“On it.” He stood up and walked to the Winchester. “Just a second,” he knelt down, “don’t get any ideas.” He winked.
“Sure.” Sam said, not much in a joking mood.
After Sam was healed, you debriefed the group on your actions for the last two weeks and your last hunt. All in order try to find clues of who did it.
“Thank you for helping.” You rested your hand on Gabriel’s as you both sat in the library. “Also, sorry for the ground wrestling death match.”
“You asked for help. I’m not going to leave you hanging…or trying to literally obliterate your friends. Your wrestling could be better.”
“But I don’t know how many apologizes can make up for that. I could have hurt you. I already owe the Winchesters for the surprise visit.”
“I accept dessert and a movie.” Gabriel said simply.
“No dinner?”
“Nope.”
You nodded. “Fair enough. I can buy that chocolate pie I’ve been eyeing.”
“Good to know you still have good taste.” He wiggled his eyebrows.
hi Ellie!!! i was wondering if you had any thoughts on who ATEEZ would be in Baludr's Gate 3
the greatest gift of all is letting me indulge so thank you for this anon! i'm gonna take this to mean class as opposed to character comparisons, so here we go!
(also i'm gonna try and give a brief explanation of each thing for the people who have no clue what any of this is 😅)
Tumblr media
(so far i only have three different reader characters, and you'll see them listed at the bottom)
Hongjoong: Definitely an Arcane Trickster Rogue. So rogues, that's like the main stealth class, very sneaky, do things underhanded, pickpocketing, sleight of hand, all that good shit. Arcane Tricksters can cast spells too and magically disguise themselves, which makes them hella dangerous. I can see him fucking shit up with magic and laughing from the shadows. He also uses weapons and ambushes, mainly hand crossbows and short swords. One of his weapons is a dagger imbued with sussur bark, which long story short when he stabs someone with it, they're silenced and unable to cast spells. Along with the arsenal of spells he knows, he also keeps quite a few spell scrolls on him, just to turn the tides when he needs to.
Seonghwa: Mainly a PALADIN and I will die on this hill. They're oathsworn basically knight heroes who use divine power to fuel their attacks. Seonghwa would be Oath of Devotion specifically, which swears to uphold duty and honor and be heroic. He'd be a Great Weapon Fighter, so he fights with giants swords and shit. He'd be a Paladin of Bahamut (the dragon god of justice) specifically, which you can't pick in the game, but it's not me if he's not associated with dragons somehow lmao. Speaking of dragon association, he also has draconic ancestry from his Sorcerer bloodline. Specifically his bloodline is descended from silver dragons, which means he's got a few frost powers up his sleeve and silver scales on different parts of his body, and a couple other dragon features. (*cough* dragon dick *cough*). Possibly becomes an oathbreaker bc i have way to much fun with oathbreakers not to include that too 😅 Mainly travels with cleric!reader, and was also with Yeosang and Mingi on a mission before getting separated from them. Now it's just him and cleric!reader against the world.
Yunho: I'm thinking Warlock, bc warlocks are spell casters that have a lotta rizz that's what fuels their spells. They get their powers from pacts with demonic patrons, and his patron would be The Fiend, Demon!reader specifically (haven't decided what kind of demon yet but you are from Minauros which is the greed ring of the Nine Hells). You grant him elemental spells (mostly fire) and whenever he defeats someone he gets some temporary health which is really useful. You also give him the ability to turn the tides in his favor, in limited instances of course. His pact with you is specifically a Pact of the Blade, so he can summon magic weapons and magically bind any weapon to himself. You also give him Eldritch Invocations, which long story short are extra warlock spells he can learn. You meet with him every so often, usually every full moon, to discuss the terms of your pact, and more importantly, payment. He asks for new powers, and you grant them, for a price of course. He's free to use his powers however he sees fit, so long as he serves you however you see fit. 😏
Yeosang: War Domain cleric, a cleric not to be fucked with. Not that you can fuck with any of them, but War Domain are more so fighters that focus on making themselves and their allies better in battle. So clerics are the main healing and support class, and just like paladins they get their powers from divine sources. He's specifically be a cleric of Tempus, the Lord of Battles. Tempus is also neutral, which I feel like fits Yeosang's vibe pretty well. So he's essentially a soldier that can also do cleric things lmao. He also has knowledge of weapon and armor forgery, and made a few things out of adamantine, a very rare metal that can only be forged in one hidden forge that he and Mingi found. He was one of the people traveling with Seonghwa and cleric!reader on a mission before getting separated, and travels with Mingi. He has a couple longswords that he likes to use, including one made out of adamantine with a shield to match, and uses a longbow that can give him an extra spell if he does enough damage with it.
San: He's gonna be a Rogue and a Ranger, but mostly Ranger. So Rangers are scouts/trackers, are in tune with nature (not as much as druids but they know things lmao), and can cast a few spells for some razzle dazzle. Specifically, he's gonna be a Gloom Stalker Ranger and an Assassin Rogue, so he attacks from the shadows and can ambush people before they even have the chance to scream, scary shit. He's a Two-Weapon fighter and uses double short swords, and has a crossbow that can take down big monsters, but he's got another dagger that does extra damage when he ambushes people from the shadows. Long story short, there's only one way to get this dagger, which reveals the true nature of why he's a gloom stalking assassin. His traveling companions, Wooyoung and druid!reader, know and are completely cool with it. 😅 I'm not gonna get into Favored Enemies and Natural Explorers too much bc rangers get a bunch of them and we'll be here all day. But I will mention that he's a Beast Tamer than can summon familiars, so he can literally be like "this is my rabbit!". And yes, the rabbit's name is Mito. 😂
Mingi: We're going full Fighter for Mingi, which is exactly what it sounds like. Gonna make him an Eldritch Knight for a little razzle dazzle too. Eldritch Knights can cast spells and magically bind their weapons to themselves, so he can boomerang any weapon he wants much like what Yunho can do. The main weapon Mingi uses is an adamantine trident, which doesn't exist in the game but fuck it, I'm giving it to him. He also has adamantine armor, which he and Yeosang forged in that one forge that most people don't know about lmao. The spells he knows mainly do ranged damage, so yea he's gonna be a knight with ✨ pizzazz ✨ for sure. As far as fighting style, his is Defense, so he gets a little bonus when he's wearing armor. I can just imagine him throwing his trident at someone, and then when it comes back he points it at them like "aight lets fight". All of them can really make an entrance fr, but with Mingi yea that image really makes sense. He was one of the people traveling with cleric!reader and Seonghwa on a mission, and travels with Yeosang.
Wooyoung: Definitely Bard, definitely lute playing bard (which is why i asked if he knows any instruments). So they're the traveling performers and are also storytellers and artists. Bards have a lotta rizz and can basically talk their way out of any situation. Bards can also support their allies in a fight really well and can cast a lotta spells. Something funny that Bards use is Vicious Mockery, which is dealing damage to their enemies through insults. Sounds pretty on brand for Wooyoung 😅. He travels with San and druid!reader, and let's just say he knows why San has that special dagger, and is happy San is on his side. He himself uses a longsword that can use song empower his allies or do extra damage to his enemies.
Edit: the evil team of druid!reader and San needed to do more damage, so Wooyoung is a College of Swords Bard. He can still cast spells (like a lotta spells), but he's also a master swordsman and can do really cool things with his weapons.
Jongho: We're going Monk for Jongho. Monks are actually hella tough and fight hand to hand and with their staffs. Martial arts experts that're not to be fucked with. I'm thinking Way of the Open Hand monk for him, which doesn't even need a staff they just beat the shit outta people with their bare hands and can easily stun and knock their opponents out. Since Jongho is really strong, it'll make him even more powerful. He does have a staff that has the power to turn an opponents spell back on them, hella useful. He'd also have an arsenal of different gloves he can wear to change the damage he does, like fire, lightning, etc. Something else cool monks can do is if someone shoots them with an arrow, they can redirect it back to the shooter it's hella cool. So yea, seems calm and collected and serene but will fuck you up I love that for him. I say this, but I am debating on making him a Way of the Four Elements monk, which is exactly what it sounds like.
Cleric!reader: So this is the Cleric from the paladin!hwa piece. You are a Light Domain Cleric of Lathander, the neutral good god of birth, dawn, and renewal (also known as the Morninglord). Because of this, you have a lot of light powers, and a few fire powers for a little bit of razzle dazzle lmao. Originally, you went on a mission with Seonghwa, Mingi, Yeosang, and a few other people. After ending up separated from the others, your main traveling companion is Seonghwa, and you fall in love as you travel together.
Druid!reader: Hehe made an evil druid. So druids are really in touch with nature and are all about preserving the natural order. You have lots of elemental spells, some healing magic, can commune with animals, and can even turn into animals. Specifically you're a Circle of the Land druid, which means you can tap into some really powerful magic and can cast more spells than other druids. You are an elemental menace and most of your powers involve conjuring different hazards like entangling vines, patches of sharp thorns, icy storms, and even walls of fire. You travel with San and Wooyoung and have a dark past very similar to San, which gives you a dark secret of your own that of course, the other two know and are completely cool with. With your powers combined, you're lowkey the most menacing villain squad there is.
Patron!reader: You're the demonic entity that gives Yunho his Warlock powers. You are a Tanar’ri, or pure demon, straight from the Abyss. Now, you reside in Minauros, the greed ring of the Nine Hells. You serve under Mammon, archdevil of Greed, and secure contracts and pacts with mortals on his behalf. It's Yunho's greed for power that drew you to him. Your true demon form is gigantic with the lower half of a large serpent and the upper half of a person, four arms, fangs, claws, bat-like wings, snake-like eyes, and four horns that coil atop your head like a crown. You can shapeshift, but honestly Yunho prefers (and simps over) your true form, which is makes things a bit easier. Much of your power revolves around fire, which is why you imbue Yunho with a lot of fire spells. You let him use his powers as he sees fit, so long as he serves you as you see fit. As part of your pact, you visit Yunho every full moon. There, he can ask for more power, and you can grant his request, for a price. Quite often, that price involves you dominating him and toying with him however you want, a price he's all too willing to pay. And as an added caveat, he's not allowed to cum at any other time, not until you say he can, another aspect of this he quite enjoys. So every full moon, he looks forward to when you come to collect tribute from him, taking pleasure in the way you play with him, calling him pet or pup the entire time.
i don't think leser beast will have backstabs. mainly because it's a really annoying animation consideration but also because the general role A Backstab plays in PvE and PvP contexts (within the realm of A Soulslike Game) can be filled by other things
like. in PvE, it's a stealth tool (good), a way to punish enemy attacks with long recoveries (neutral), or a cheese tactic (bad). for the first option i'd like to cover that niche with dedicated Stealth Attacks done while crouched (like. hold R2 while crouched) that can't be cancelled after a certain point and do crazy damage on enemies that haven't noticed you, which are functionally similar to a backstab but wouldn't require synchronized animations between the player and every enemy.
charged heavy attacks, special attacks, and slower spells would ideally fill the 2nd niche, which they would already do anyways on enemies immune to backstabs. and i'd like to avoid the DS1 Black Knight sort of cheese scenarios whenever possible so not having backstabs would help A Little with that (obviously depends on enemy AI and movesets too)
PvP wise i really just can't think of a good reason to have them that isn't covered by some other option. like oh they're used as a counter to people parry-spamming? okay well, give the player attacks that can't be parried, or give whiffed parries worse recovery, or like any one of a dozen other ways you could adjust the risk-reward of parrying. one downside is that you'd lose that stealth option against other players, but that role could be filled by other grab-type attacks, or even by making some stealth attacks function like a backstab only if they hit vs. other players (for small weapons that would have faster stealth attacks, like daggers & fist\claw weapons)
also. separate stealth attacks means insane people could try to complete the game using only the stealth bonk with a giant hammer
Aside from this, Shirogane will passively glow whenever an undead creature (seen or unseen) is within 50 feet of her, giving her wielder a +2 initiative bonus, if they are not incapacitated.
4th Feat - Critical Mastery (Unnamed Hero)
On 4th level, Shirogane can crit on a 19 or 20.
5th Feat - Water Dancer (Elrick Snap)
On fifth level, while wielding Shirogane, her master has access to one charge of the Water Walk; this charge is reclaimed at dawn every day. The spell is contained only to the wielder of Shirogane, however.
6th Feat - Changer of Fate (Giovanni Sakaki)
Once a day, Shirogane's wielder can roll 1d20 three times and store 1 result of the three to be swapped out later with another roll. When a new day begins, the wielder must roll for a new result to store.
7th and over have yet to be unlocked as Shirogane currently only has a total of six masters.
Because I think about this far too much:
Yu-Gi-Oh GX characters as Final Fantasy classes in the context of my fic Sons of The Stars.
With explanations that might only actually make sense to me unless you've read the fic and played the FF games akaksk
Jaden - Thief
Fights with daggers/other short swords ninja sword if ur playing FFXII 👀 he doesn't ever actually steal anything except Jesse's heart 😏 but otherwise aligns well with the class imo. He's got the energy yet seriousness a lot of Thief characters in FF have Locke, Yuffie, Rikku, Zidane, etc, he's clever and agile, and he fights mainly for self defense and only if he has to. He tends to try a lot of stealth to get out of having to fight. Sneaky little man.
Alexis - Knight
Standard sword class, similar to Warrior. Fights with a two handed greatsword, and she chose to train herself to fight so that she could defend. That way she would be able to protect Atticus even though she'd left her station as princess of their dimension and was living in hiding on her own. She still cared about her people and wanted her brother to be safe, knowing there were people who wanted the royal family dead and gone. She'd rather protect the crown than be the crown in that sense.
Chazz - Warrior
Standard sword class similar to Knight. Fights with a one handed sword, but he didn't choose. He's been trained to fight to be a soldier for many years because of his family, and is being trained to fight to fight. Unlike Alexis, it was all about the glory for him because there was no other choice. He gained favor with Crowler, chancellor of their dimension, being so young and yet so highly skilled, which only ultimately put more pressure on him by his family to be the greatest warrior in their entire dimension. A feat which he attained by the time of the fic, when the J-Squad was only 17 years old.
Bastion - Black Mage
Not a dedicated Black Mage since he uses spells like Protect and Shell during the fic and even a standard Cure spell, but his main source of defense is his magic. His main elemental type would be water cuz water dragon ofc but he's only seen casting Thundara, Blizzara, and Thundaga during the events of the fic. And obviously as a Black Mage, he carries around a cool wizard staff 😌
Jesse - Summoner
Fairly straightforward, his main source of combat is summoning his Crystal Beasts and providing support to the others on the field.
Hassleberry - Berserker
Again. It's Hassleberry so pretty straightforward. He manages to never lose control in SoTS he loses it in OUAD though but very much has the capacity to. Having suffered for 2 years pre-fic as a military experiment in his and Jim's dimension after the accident with his leg left him with his animalistic side due to the dinosaur bone in his leg, and their scientists attempting to strip him of his humanity in order to weaponize him because they're fucking terrible people. Thx for breaking him outta there Jim 😭 Though he also aligns a little with the Monk class as well since like characters like Yang, Sabin, Tifa, Zell, and Snow, who in tradition FF job systems would fall under that class, his weapon is his fists 😌
Jim - Beastmaster
He'd also potentially fall under FFV's Chemist class since he's a scientist of sorts in the fic, or maybe even Geomancer dipping into his archeology and paleontology guy stuff. But factoring in Shirley, I'd sooner class him as a Beastmaster/Tamer.
Axel - Freelancer
Guy's a mercenary, he can do anything. If he had a weapons specialty, he'd be a Gunner/Machinist he literally gives Jim a gun before the final battle with Yubel, but he's a jack of all trades. He just kinda does whatever he feels like it or whatever is best to get the job done.
Bonus since he's extremely important to the fic but isn't actually a party member:
Syrus - White Mage
Sy actually was originally supposed to be an actual party member since he's my favorite character oh wow, I wonder why he's so important to the plot, like the fate of the entire universe hinges upon his safety 🤔 but it just didn't really end up happening, and considering his position in the fic it unfortunately makes sense to me that he isn't. But whether in the context of this fic or in canon, or literally any context, Sy is the team White Mage. Stereotypically a very weak and squishy, low defense/low attack class which I mean... yeah. But I've always thought he'd have a very strong magic stat which most White Mage's do Rosa, Porom, Aerith, Garnet, Eiko, Yuna (literally the strongest magic stat in FFX), Vanille and if he was able to be a party member he'd the team healer. Who can also tear holes in the space time continuum to open portals to travel through dimensions 😌
As an addendum to this: Six. I decided on the existence of six of these stakes. Mainly because I remain under the impression that they are not an extremely recent invention and, unlike the Brotherhood of the Five with their white oak daggers, Tristan would definitely include Mikael among the names that merit one. Unequivocally not an item capable of being mass produced. I envision each one as something that was indescribably taxing for an old version of The Sisters to create. Or perhaps a quota that involved several versions of the coven inheriting the recipe until the full collection was there. We are talking about weapons that induce agony and madness upon incredibly powerful beings so sacrifice of non-Strix related individuals could have been involved in one way or another. (The Strix does administer both wars and plagues so if there is an organization well positioned to make a considerably large group of people disappear...One advantage of operating as a secret society is not needing good press among other people) I went back and forth with Klaus because he can be a confusing case as to what weapons can and can't affect him. The reason behind his immunity to the white oak daggers is stated to be his werewolf side. But this is: 1) Overwritten by a clever enough practitioner of magic as demonstrated by Kol and Davina making a spell to transform one of those daggers into something capable of neutralizing Klaus in one afternoon. 2) Not universally applicable to other magical weapons of this fictional universe as demonstrated by Papa Tunde's Blade (An item that happens to have an extremely similar effect to the cursed stakes of the Strix, minus their added curse) So, yes. Taking into account that both Rebekah and Marcel seem convinced that a Strix stake would work on Marcel after his transformation, and he is considerably more powerful than Klaus at the time, I ended on the side of guessing it would work on Klaus as well. But I can see an argument for both sides so if you are a Klaus role-player, feel free to combat me on this. Who doesn't enjoy a good debate?
Tumblr media
As for division: I'm going to say that Tristan keeps three of them. Aya was confirmed to have one (Eventually entrusted to Marcel during the events of the show) And the other two were guarded by a duo of Strix members awarded with the rare privilege of Tristan's trust (One of those eventually enlisted as the weapon that neutralized Rebekah during the third season) So in my "After the Ocean" verses/ part of the timeline, with his Strix gone, Tristan only has direct access to three. (Although he does retain access to the recipe as well, obviously enough. A point that can only be relevant if he is ever allied or in contact with an insanely powerful witch/coven of very few scruples, given that the Sisters are gone as well.)
One element I don't often call enough attention to is that Tristan already gained the power to neutralize an Original indefinitely before the events of the show. Introducing the Strix's personal version of the silver white oak daggers: The cursed stakes.
Tumblr media
Not much is given about their backstory beyond what the plot requires to function but it is confirmed Tristan's organization created at least two copies. And their existence itself provides interesting implications. Proving just as effective as their distant silvery cousins when it comes to leaving an Original vampire out of the board but adding some wickedness to the experience. For starters, this one will never provide you with a decent nap. They are designed to be nightmarish. In the words of Rebekah: "This stake ensures I feel everything; the aching cold, the suffocating darkness, the burn of my veins crying out for blood and the long agony of waiting."
Tumblr media
Even if someone frees you from its prison? They conceal an added twist. Now you are marked. Now you are cursed to suffer a maddening rage and thirst. And we are not talking about some ordinary showmanship of magical arts. Freya who is proven time and time again incredibly capable in witchcraft, can't find a cure to the curse.
Tumblr media
It is a very merciless weapon. Very, dare I say, on brand from what one might expect in design out of Tristan's vengeful side. But more importantly it is also...There. We don't know for how long. By the way they talk about it, its existence isn't a novelty for the Strix. What I can use to support my views on Tristan and how much he loathed being forced to play the season in the way he did. Because, yes. Tristan craves to see Elijah suffering. Very much so. But that's a pending point on his agenda. Not something he revolves his whole eternity around. Tristan has an unlife. And, as a lingering point in that eternal existence, he wishes to be ready to inflict some torment on his old friend and third worst rival one day. Eventually. Enjoying the encounter. What happened in New Orleans? Even if it had gone his way? That wasn't what he had in mind at all. While they try to make room for it, his actions there are deeply rooted in how much the situation changed once the knowledge of an Original's death signifying the death of the bloodline and the urgency of the prophecy came to light. The survival of his sister, his own and the one of his people are his main incentives. Because Tristan does find sickening that at any point the doom of a Mikaelson could mean their own demise. I find relevant that even with weapons such as these at his disposal, he still yearns for the Serratura to ensure that potential danger is gone forever. Equally relevant that when he intervenes to defend Aurora's actions in regards to Rebekah, his reasoning is that, like the rest of them, his sister simply desired to take charge of her own fate.
Brain has enough power to supply me with Château trio thoughts, mainly their battle style and post-story stuff.
I like to think that before Joséphandre went on that journey, his battle style being a self-sustaining tank was more for the fact that he's just really reckless, his hometown feels more to the peaceful side of things so there wasn't much of a dangerous threat there. But going on that journey made him realize that there's far more dangerous stuff to encounter that a strong defense isn't enough anymore so he had to focus on improving his fighting too and not just on his defense. There are people he needs to protect, both within the party and outside it, so if there are such threats that fighting is the only option left, then he needs to improve on that and make sure he can fight back as well as he can defend.
Pierre-Jacques-Erneste pre-betrayal's battle style is more focused on his own survival, and he never really care much about the party during then so he never bothered improving on anything that can be helpful for everyone. Though his debuffs seem helpful to the party, but the main reasoning behind that is for it to be helpful to him only, it's for the sake of his survival in a world that never seemed to have a place for him. After betrayal and when he returns to the party, I like to think that he'd switch his battle style a lil bit. He doesn't have to worry bout the Stuff anymore, he has a place he can belong to now, and he wants to protect that place. So his battle style will have a small change, he'll still be the debuffer but he'll also be buffing everyone's speed now too, he'll always switch from dagger to sword, a weapon he's more skilled in.
Lady Irene-Janine-Karine's battle style also developed similarly to Pierre, in that it's for her own survival too. Though she took on a more direct approach to it, developing a battle style heavily based on offense. Her defense based skills being only helpful to her only at the beginning speaks volumes bout how she had to keep herself safe most of the time, especially with her direct approach with Stuff. But after getting closer to the party, she decides to improve on some of her skills to be able to accomodate the others as well and not just herself. Since she isn't alone anymore, there are people willing to protect her so she gotta protect them too.
Post-story stuff and the trio's battle style seemingly turns into a mixture of one another's, like a subtle sign that they care about each other so much their battle style was woven into each other's own style. Joséphandre teaching Lady Irene and Pierre about defenses and healing, Pierre teaching Joséphandre and Lady Irene about debuffs and speed, Lady Irene teaching Joséphandre and Pierre about offenses and buffs. Even outside of the context of battle spells, they train each other bout skills that the other lacks and wants to develop more of.
You can see the way Joséphandre moves his feet and the way Pierre moves his arms after not using the sword for a long while that they both picked that up on Lady Irene. You can see the way Lady Irene and Pierre moves their bodies to dodge and defend like how Joséphandre taught them. You can see the way Joséphandre and Lady Irene move swiftly, effectively, without so much as wasting a single step, just as how they learned from Pierre. You can see just how close they are with one another in the way their movements are a reflection of each others'.
So about Cary’s scar
So originally I was going to make a short story out of this, but after thinking about it, there wouldn’t be much to the story. I may have a line about it later on in Caryalind’s mod, idk atm, but here’s the story of Caryalind’s massive scar on his abdomen.  (TW: Child Abuse and Gore)
He got the scar during one his father’s many experiments to try and get Caryalind to find his magical potential. Caryalind had gone through numerous hours of studying magic, was sent to arcane temples, even conducted rituals with the best arch mages in Alinor, but nothing helped. Caryalind was 16, his magic should have shown by now! Ganmen thought back to the first time he discovered his full potential of magicka, he was just a boy too and his mother conducted a fight to take place. That was it; a fight.
Ganmen forced the teenager to enter the trainings grounds. Ganmen told his son his what was going to happen. Sometimes magic comes out when we are in the most danger. A feeling of primal survival. Caryalind, obviously, was worried as he saw he would facing a trained Pahmar-Raht without a single weapon, but his father gave him a silver-lining. If Caryalind managed to cast a single hint of magic, the boy would be given his daggers to protect himself.
Of course, no magic ever came out. Ganmen stick around to watch his son dodge and run frantically to survive the blows of the Khajiit warrior. Minutes later the Overseerer would be hit with hope as he heard his son defeated the warrior. But after hearing the story of his son’s victory, the hope vanished. Caryalind only defeated the Khajiit after he was pinned to the ground. The Khajjit sinking his claws into the young man’s abdomen. All the while casting frostbite through his hand, hitting Caryalind at basically point-blank. Caryalind did have a survival instinct kick in. As he laid there in pain, and feeling sure he would be killed, he noticed the frost magic creating ice shards all over his abdomen. Painfully, Caryalind wrenched one from his body and pierced it into the neck of the man. The Khajiit slumped over him and the guards came down to pull Caryalind from the pool of his own blood.
After the fight, Caryalind had the horrendous scar of not only where the Khajiit’s claws stabbed into him, but where the frostbite spell was overtaking him. For years, Caryalind hated how it looked, but he did get reassurance from the few that cared for him around him. Mainly Termia, who promised him he was still perfect.
Perhaps the only good was that Caryalind wasn’t subjected by any torment of Ganmen for half a year. Caryalind was sent to a vacation home to recover from his injuries and to cool off. For a while, Caryalind thought his father wanted him to relax after a traumatic experience, but soon enough he found himself facing the truth. His father didn’t want to face him. Not because he did something so nightmarish to his own son, but because he couldn’t face the fact that his son didn’t have any arcane talents.
Despite everything, this was perhaps the first time Caryalind found himself at peace for months on end. While he still had the horrors of his father in his head, for those months, he had Termia who happily stayed by his side and spent time with him. She had a way of making those around her feel worth something.
PS. As a more happy note, it was during those months Termia and Caryalind cemented themselves as best friends. Though, Caryalind did catch feelings and after confessing to Termia he loved her, she hit him with the reality of her preferences. While it stung a bit for Cary, the two only became stronger friends afterwards.
Dalish Week: Craft
Day two!! Jumping back to pre-Inquisition, a bit of Neria learning when she first joined Clan Lavellan and a snippet of her early relationship with Mahanon and Rosha🥰
@dalish-appreciation-week
~~~
Neria drank in Master Souren’s lesson with rapt attention. His aged, calloused hands shaped and cut and bent and twisted wood with ease; the ironbark seemed to bend to his very will.
The students formed a semi-circle around the makeshift workbench he’d laid between two stumps. Though she sat barely a head above the tallest, Neria felt odd and out-of-place among the children. In her mind, she was an interloper, the duckling destined never to fit with the geese. She supposed the Dalish would always cast her as a child, long as her face remained bare and free of ink.
Some time had passed since she sat for lessons, but this differed pointedly from her Circle classes in many ways. Mainly, that she was the oldest playing catch-up rather than the budding prodigy. She’d climbed those ranks with rapid ease, thanks mostly to the advantage of living and absorbing Circle teachings practically since birth.
She wondered if these children felt the same pride in their skill as she had, when she was no taller than a dwarf, but still wove a better paralysis rune than an apprentice five years her senior.
Demonstration completed, Souren passed chunks of ironbark to each student, along with a warning not to waste the precious resource. They spread across the grass to try their hand at the trade. Neria took a moment to admire the dark knots and smooth grain of the wood, and to watch how her peers took up their task with gusto.
She could only liken it to the Tranquil enchanters at Kinloch and to draw such a comparison did a disservice to the energy around her now. The methodical process of the Tranquil prioritized function and service. The mages used the runes at the Circle and the Templars profited off basic items—daggers, buckets, cloaks—with enchantments woven into their very fibers.
But that work product lacked the spark of imagination, creativity, the personality of the creator. Neria could practically feel the buzz of that excitement across her skin now. It was a pleasant sensation and she let it guide her hands as she bent her head over her work and shaved fine scraps from the wood.
They spent several days just like that. Each morning Souren circled with small critiques and they adjusted their work accordingly. At the end, each student walked away with a simple shortbow of their own making, carved to their liking, and strung with a composite of linen and elfroot fibers Master Souren spun while they crafted.
Though proud of her work and happy to trace the endless spirals of leaves and feathers that wove around the weapon, Neria had no real use for a bow. She wandered away from the children toward where Rosha sat by a fire, following the edge of her blade with a whetstone.
“Care to trade?”
Rosha grinned without looking up. “Don’t you want to keep your masterpiece?”
The long grass fanned out where Neria settled herself alongside her friend. She laid the bow across her legs and raised an eyebrow over steepled fingers.
“I don’t fight with a bow.” She shrugged and rolled her wrists, leaning slightly back. “And if I ever need to…”
She snapped her fingers without any sound and the Fade coalesced at her summons. The air in front of her turned opaque and shaped itself into a bow not unlike the one on her lap.
Surprise widened Rosha’s eyes, then her grin returned full force and she leaned forward to inspect the spell.
“Incredible,” she breathed. Her fingertips hovered on the edges where the spell blurred against the Veil. “It works like a proper bow and everything? And they taught you something like this in a Circle?”
“It is a proper bow,” Neria said, somewhat petulantly. “And—not exactly. I’m not sure how the tome ended up in our library, but I doubt the Templars meant to leave it there. It had so much dust on it, they likely assumed it was an old reference for something that had simply become common knowledge—like restoration potions or arcane bolt theory.”
She unwrapped her fingers from the summoned bow’s grip and it dissipated back into the Fade. “It came in handy, though, when I couldn’t carry a staff. Unchanneled casting only gets you so far.”
“Anyway” —she gestured down to the tangible bow still lying across her thighs— “I don’t need it, but it was a good lesson. So, are you in the market?”
“Not in the slightest.” Rosha turned one of her daggers so it caught the light of the fire on one side and reflected her shrewd smile on the other. The freshly sharpened edge gleamed like silverite at sunset. “I’m rather partial to my blades. But you know who is fond of his bows—“
“Not this again—“
“In fact, I’m pretty sure Mahanon was asking just a few days back when Souren would have new pieces ready.”
Neria’s glare soured against the side of Rosha’s face, but the hunter only hummed an innocent tune and set to work on her second dagger.
“I would make a peace offering, but I think he’s as liable to shoot me with it as a passing rabbit.”
“Please, the way to the man’s heart is through his armory.”
“Well I’m not trying to get to his heart, now am I?”
Vindictive satisfaction flooded Neria like the blood flooded Rosha’s face, until her skin matched her hair. “Maybe you do need it after all, eh falon?”
“I might.” Rosha narrowed her eyes and tapped her chin thoughtfully. “I suppose it would serve as a club to beat away that smug smile just as well as anything else.”
“Wow, rude.” Neria jabbed her elbow and a spike of mana caught Rosha’s side, making her drop the whetstone. Her daggers joined it in short order and she tackled Neria before the other elf could blink.
“Oof—“
They rolled away from the fire, wrestling for dominance in a tangled knot of limbs and joints and unbound hair until a shadow fell over their childish antics.
“It’s come to blows already, has it?”
“Mahanon!” Rosha returned to her feet with ease, landing upright on a patch of moss. Most of her color had given way to blotchy exertion, but patches returned as she grinned at the somber, unimpressed hunter. “We were just talking about you.”
He raised an eyebrow at her; his gaze cut to Neria’s still-prone form and his lips thinned to a nonexistent line. “I find that hard to believe.”
“Oh, lighten up.” Rosha nudged Neria with a leather-wrapped toe and she reluctantly dragged herself up off the ground. “Weren’t you telling Ilvin the other day that you’re due for a new bow?”
Mahanon crossed his arms firmly over his chest. “And if I was?”
“Well then you’re in luck!” An expectant look passed from Rosha to Neria and the latter reluctantly paced over to where her crafted bow fell during their scuffle.
“Rosha—“ Weariness lined his voice and he pinched the bridge of his nose. Instinct told Neria to disengage and hide away until his ire burned out; as if sensing her thoughts, one of Rosha’s hands looped like steel around her wrist and tugged her back into the conversation.
“Just look at it, ‘hanon,” she coaxed. “It’s a fine piece and Neria doesn’t need it.”
“Hmph.”
Despite his reluctance and her own reticence, Neria offered the weapon for his inspection. He traced the curve of the limbs and the carvings that worked seamlessly around the riser. Neria was nothing if not partial to symmetry; she’d painstakingly balanced the design.
It did look good, she realized, studying it with fresh eyes alongside Mahanon’s scrutiny. A hint of pride budded in her chest. Even if he spurned this olive branch as well, she felt confident another, less bull-headed clan member would gratefully accept.
One by one, Mahanon’s fingers closed around the grip. He tugged gently and Neria let it slip from her grasp so he could feel the balance and test the weight in his hand. His face betrayed nothing and despite her confidence of only a moment before, Neria felt that familiar evaluation anxiety.
“It is a decent piece,” he finally said, though each word came slowly, as if at a great cost. “If you truly do not have other plans for it…”
“Keep it.” He still hadn’t looked at her. “As Rosha said, I do not need it.”
The air teemed with awkward tension and silence for a few beats, until Rosha sighed loudly and rolled her eyes. She jabbed a finger into Mahanon’s shoulder.
“This is the part where you say ‘thank you’, lethallan. I know you remember the words. And they’ll come off better if you actually look at her while you speak.”
Mahanon’s ears flattened against his head for just a second, then flicked back out. For a moment, Neria thought he might just take the bow and walk away.
Instead, his eyes finally found her face. She’d seen them suspicious and crestfallen, and she’d seen them angry most of all. So to see them totally calm and neutral jolted her—she wasn’t sure what it meant, or if she should be nervous about it.
“Ma serannas,” he said lowly, jaw tense and chin jutted out. As if she needed another reminder that this was not an invitation for further conversation.
She simply bowed her head. When she looked back up, Mahanon had vanished.
“Well,” Rosha clapped her hands together, a wide, genuine grin stretching her freckled cheeks. “That went well, don’t you think?”
“If you say so,” Neria shrugged. “I’ll hold my judgment until he goes…say a week, without shooting me.”
“That’s the spirit, falon.”

not who you reblogged it from but i'm not turning down a chance to use my powers of being a fucking nerd for the forces of good
so anyway starting off on the left we have ol' faithful vigor, which raises your HP and resistance to Frostbite (we'll get there later). every level up improves all of your defensive stats, and your status resistances, but some more than others, because why not. next up we have my boi Attunement, which raises your FP (ds3's name for mana, which can be used to cast spells and weapon-specific skills called Weapon Arts) and also raises the amount of spells you can have equipped at once. Endurance is next, which raises stamina (used to attack, dodge, run, cast spells, etc.) along with raising your Lightning damage defense and Bleed resistance. Vitality is similar, raising your Equip Load (how much gear you can equip at once without slowing movement/rolls), Physical defense, and Poison Resistance.
now it's time for damage stats. Strength mainly governs your damage with large, heavy weapons, like clubs and greatswords. it also raises your Fire defense (it's also the best stat and anyone who says otherwise prolly doesn't even lift bro /s). Dexterity affects your damage with precise, fast weapons, like katanas, rapiers, and bows, along with raising the speed at which you can cast spells, and decreasing fall damage taken. Intelligence affects how much damage your spells and magical weapons deal, while also raising your Magic defense. it also strengthens your Pyromancy and Dark magic, although it shares that attribute with the gods' favorite stat, Faith! sunbros rejoice, Faith strengthens Miracles (usually holy and lightning magic), holy weapons, along with the aforementioned Dark magic and Pyromancy. it also raises your Dark defense. finally, the most fortunate stat, Luck. Luck raises the chance for you to get rare items from enemies, as well as letting you apply Bleed and Poison faster with weapons that deal them. there are also some weapons whose damage scales with Luck, though they're uncommon.
moving along, the middle column is fairly simple. HP is how much damage you can take before you die, FP is the aforementioned mana for spells and Weapon Arts, Stamina is how much you can do (roll, attack, spells, etc.) before having to rest for a moment while it regenerates. those are fairly basic for anyone with a passing knowledge of video games, but i had to include them so the speedrun.com mods will accept my run as 100%
Equip Load is how much you can have equipped at once, though going over certain amounts (25%, 50%, etc.) will slow down your character's run speed and lower how much invincibility you get when you dodge roll. Poise is how many knuckle sandwiches you can take to the face without flinchin', and Item Discovery raises the chance for enemies to drop rare loot.
now for the right column, Physical defense is how much your armor and levels protect you against physical attacks. real shocker, i know. it's divided into 3 categories, Strike (maces, clubs, etc.), Slash (knives, swords, etc.), and Thrust (rapiers, daggers, etc.). Magic defense protects you from magic and magical weapons, Fire defense protects you from all sorts of fire, Lightning defense protects you from lightning attacks (lightning may not strike twice in the same spot but the nameless king'll make an exception for your face), and Dark defense protects against dark magic and such.
the Resistances tell how strong you are against specific status effects. however, the resistances only make it harder to get the status effects, they don't actually reduce the effect of the statuses. now for what they actually protect against, Bleed takes a big percentage off your health plus a bit of flat damage for flavor, Poison saps away your health over time, Frostbite takes a smaller chunk of HP than bleed but it both lowers your stamina regen and makes you take extra damage for a time after. and to round it off, Curse just fucking kills you. thank you miyazaki, great game design
also attunement slots are how many spells you can have equipped at once
anyway let's hope that came off coherently, that took me way longer to write than i'd like and the sun's coming up so time to zzzzZZZZZZZ honk shoo honk shoo

OC chevaliers d'émeraude. I know no one knows these books. Do I care? No.
Polaris is Onyx's twin sibling (it's just Alceo with a different name. They also look identical to Onyx for now. Their clothes are also different bc the knights have an uniform)
Made an Onyx picrew! The ears are obviously for Nashoba
Tumblr media
Background : obviously born right when Onyx was. We'll talk about the divine part later. Like Onyx, they had no future in their family. Given that they had the same powers, they were sent to the emerald castle when Onyx was. Only, they really weren't feeling good vibes from the castle (it was akuretari, but they didn't know that) so they hid. They knew how to hide from magical senses (mainly due to playing hide and seek with Onyx) and when they were sensed anyway, Onyx's and Polaris' magical aura was almost identical back then. Akuretari thought there was only Onyx, but they often switched places and attended classes a tour de rôle. It wasn't discovered since the twins did everything to be indistinguishable from each other (they had pretty different personalities, but it wasn't too hard for Polaris to act like Onyx). Technically, no one was aware that Polaris existed.
Polaris uses They/them and it/its pronouns, and Onyx will beat up anyone who misgenders them or mocks them (not that it can't beat assholes up itself, but eh. They don't care)
Polaris and Onyx are soulmates too! (taking advantage of the fact that Onyx has no canon soulmate)
When its brother was knighted, Polaris has to reveal itself, so it could be knighted too. The revelation caused quite a stir, but nonetheless, Polaris stayed very discreet (they added some glamor and shadow tricks to their naturally discreet nature) and most of the time, when someone saw them they thought Polaris was Onyx (he was much more known). Polaris was a bit of a spy. It held no loyalty to any king, only to its brother. When Onyx befriended Hadrian, Polaris immediately adored him. He was the only one who really got to know and befriend Polaris. It was Onyx's shadow during the war. After the war, and this whole thing, Polaris followed its brother to Esperita. It didn't really care about the whole being king thing, because it has little to no ambition other than to stay by its brother's side. It wasn't really angry at Abnar, after all Onyx was more attached to the knights than Polaris was. But well. Their twin was their life and soul. For him, they would kill, die, live.... And this devotion wasn't one-sided. Polaris was (and still is) one of the only people Onyx really listened to (with Hadrian), one of the only ones able to calm him down.
Polaris didn't like Esperita and hated Nomar. But like its brother, it had been tortured and threatened by the reptilian god. So it stayed. And, well, Onyx was forced to be here. Of course it wouldn't desert its twin. Polaris never married or had children (they had sex sometimes, but it was only so they could have blackmail on married people, or when they wanted to mentally torture people (to be clear they didn't rape anyone, but it was funny to see people break down because they fucked someone other than their spouse and liked it, and their honor was forever tainted because of that. Forever tainting people was a hobby. Sometimes they liked to wear other people's appearances while doing it, just to cause unnecessary drama. They were bored, okay)). They researched soul spells with Onyx (as a test, they linked their souls together. Being twins and soulmates, they figured there was no great risk. And they were right). Those spells allowed Onyx to bond his soul to his weapons when he died. Polaris did the same with their dagger, which they left in a more easily accessible place.
Sadly, Polaris hadn't counted on their reputation, because of which no one will touch their dagger for a long, long time (Polaris had quite the sinister reputation - the ghost of Esperita, the shadow of Onyx, if you try to hurt its twin, if you even think about hurting Onyx, it will know. And it will kill you - it's only Polaris. But... Polaris is strange. Polaris is dangerous. Polaris is silent. Sometimes Polaris doesn't seems to exist, at the frontier between this world and another one - Polaris is strange. The north star who makes travelers lose their way instead of guiding them). Polaris' dagger scared people, even if it really was just a simple dagger. And then one day, ten years before Sage found Onyx's weapons, a 5yo kid decided that this dagger is very pretty. He touches it. And he dies. His body doesn't but his personality, his soul is invaded by Polaris - and Polaris is so much bigger, so much stronger than a kid. The kid died, smothered by Polaris' soul, and the one looking in the mirror is Polaris, ghost of Esperita, shadow of Onyx, knight of emerald. ("oh- oh, an hybrid. Interesting. I didn't have hair that white even when I was 80. His skin is so dark! It's weird - with a bit of luck I'll be less vulnerable to sunburn this time around. He has strange eyes. I like the color and the slit pupils, but I will miss my old eye color, I suppose - it's weird not seeing Onyx in the mirror. I mean, blue and teal aren't that different so it's okay.... Oh do the eyes glow? Neat. Uh, he has white spots. That's weird, but I suppose his father's other parent was sholian? I suppose it'll be harder to go unnoticed now. But the claws and fangs seem useful.) .
No one really notices that the boy is dead - he doesn't have friends, and his mother is only too happy to see her "son" calm down a ltlle, and Polaris is monstrously discreet. Polaris grows up in the body of Alceo, and waits. Polaris becomes Sage's friend. Because Sage may be weird, but Polaris is much weirder. Sage only has strange eyes. Polaris is strange all around. And Sage is lonely, after the reveal. It's easy to become his friend. Polaris likes Sage. But mostly, it wants to use Sage as an host for Onyx. So one day, much sooner than canon, Polaris shows Sage Onyx's weapons. They're cool, aren't they? Wanna touch them? And it's a bit disappointing, because Polaris hoped that like them, Onyx would be able to completely take control of his new body right away. It's a bit sad. The spirit of Onyx doesn't fully controls Sage's body, mainly due to the fact that Sage is still in there. He can move from it. Sometimes Onyx goes into Polaris' body, who gladly allows him to for a while (Polaris' eyes also glow when Onyx is possessing them, but since Alceo's eyes glow naturally no one notices).
The boy Polaris possessed had a few magical abilities of his own. All knights have their own things. It added up. Polaris can make shields and teleport about anywhere it's been before (like Onyx), it can fly (it's mostly just using telekinesis on itself), make very convincing illusions, change the colors of things, make people tell the truth, control the weather, breathe fire (the boy's hybrid father most likely was part dragon), and make things explode from a distance. Obviously it can also communicate telepathically and Sense Things™. It's not bad at healing, but not the best either. It can do a nifty don't-notice-me-i'm-not-here trick.
When the knights get here, Polaris is delighted! Finally a way to get out of this boring plafe AND join the knights! One stone multiple birds. Polaris goes with them, of course. No way they would leave their brother. When Onyx tells them that he possessed Sage's body for good, Polaris is so happy. Finally its brother has a body! Of course, Sage is its friend and it likes him! But Polaris would have killed just about anyone for its brother, and Sage isn't an exception... (of course, it doesn't just kills blindly when its brother asks it to. It needs a good reason. Given that Onyx knows that and wouldn't ask it if there wasn't a reason, there usually is one).
Being a knight again is sort of moving. They like it. It's good and they have friends! It was hard to have friends the first time around because they were Onyx's shadow and they didn't really want friends anyway. But these ones are good!
It really enjoys the company of Kevin and Jasson and Bergeau and Chloe and Santo. They're all good! And if being Jasson's friend means that it can distract him from his suspicions about its brother, well... Just a bonus, is it? (Polaris would have seduced him, because men get embarassingly stupid when sex is involved, but this one is so disgustingly in love with his wife that it wouldn't work. Doesn't means that they don't do that with Santo, though. This one is pining for someone unreachable, needs someone to release his admittedly well-hidden frustrations, and sex is, despite the disregard that Polaris has for it, intimate and will make him more attached to Polaris, which could be useful. Also, he's a good lay).
Life goes on. Polaris is a bit worried about Jasson's suspicions. The knight has no such suspicions about Polaris, because it is more discrète than its brother, better at blending in, way less flashy and charismatic, and also Alceo has been Polaris since way before the knights got to know it, while Sage got to be Sage for a while while the knights were here. Some of them got to see Sage, and he's startlingly different from Onyx. No wonder Jasson is suspicious. Polaris manages to misdirect this by telling stories about Sage as a kid (which are actually stories of Onyx) to prove that Yes He Has Always Been Like That He's No Possessed By Anyone Wdym
The fight with the knights goes sort of the same (mostly bc I didn't re-read it yet and don't remember how it went) except that the identity reveal also included Polaris.
They can't, unlike Onyx, be exorcised out of their body, because there's no one else in there and it would simply kill this body. No one to free.
Abnar is admittedly a bit disturbed. Polaris and him were friendly acquaintances-maybe-friends before, and he doesn't understands why it would want to kill him. Answer is, Polaris didn't, not really. Yeah, killing the other knights was a bit of a dick move, but Onyx was the one who loved them, not Polaris. It was mostly that Onyx needed a goal to work towards to not lose his mind, and Polaris maybe did too. Also, it wouldn't leave its twin all alone.
--
Divinity wise, Polaris is, like Swan and her other divine half, half of Onyx. Sort of. They weren't one god originally, like Swan's case, they just were... Two gods that were the same? It's complicated.
Polaris is a winged lycaon god!

.....I can’t draw older looking people very well. I tried to add wrinkles to his face but eh...I need practice. This is more about the outfit anyway. Maybe when I draw close-ups of his face I’ll try a bit harder to make him look older lmao
Anyway, (unfinished) Bio below:
Name: Vincent McCormac
Nicknames: Vinny/Vinnie/outsider (Araknos, lowkey mockingly with the last one), teach/Sensei (Sebastian & Kaspian & Shou.) Cowboy (Haname, jokingly) Gramps of steel (Kaspian, Sebastian, his daughter, jokingly)
(Basically the boys all refer to him as their mentor, Seb and Kaspian just usually use Vincent’s native and call him teach, and Shou uses Sensei.)
Age: 54
Height: 182 cm
A retired Demon hunter from abroad who settled to the lands
Role: Mentor for Shou, and his honorary adopted sons Kaspian and Sebastian
Family: Wife Haname, Daughter Hanabi, Honorary sons Kaspian and Sebastian, Family cat/Wife’s familiar Quinn
Love interest: His wife of course
Friends: Shou, Akiko, the twin telepaths Milo and Silas, Akiko’s mother Kaede, Toshiko’s mother Katana
Rival(s): Araknos (it’s kind of a frenemy situation)
Powers:
Vincent comes from abroad and has a different kind of demon hunter training to locals, which means he uses more gear than spells, so he has lot of enchanted weaponry like knives, daggers, swords, and spirit energy shooting guns.
He used to be quite athletic with good stamina, and is still bit of a “steel grandpa” as some people might call him jokingly, meaning he’s definitely in much better shape than average folk of his age. He can still keep up fairly well with the younglings, but does rely on tactics more nowadays to compensate getting weaker due to age.
Teaching skills; he’s a really good and patient teacher who can adapt his techniques depending on what the pupil needs. (Example; With Kaspian it’s lot of hand-to-hand combat, with Shou it was more focusing his spirit energy, and with Sebastian it was more helping his mentality towards his powers)
While more weapons focused, he does have the natural ability to sense spirit and focus his own spirit energy. Unlike local hunters who use it for their spells, he typically charges his weaponry with it.
He speaks three languages; his native, Kas and Sebastian’s native, and of course the local one. (If this was our world, these languages would be English, Polish and Japanese. Kas and Sebastian’s surname was Polish if I recall right, so I’m basing it on that haha)
Weaknesses:
He’s too old for this shit, as he puts it. Basically he’s not as fast and strong as he used to be and can end up being the first one going down in a battle if he’s not careful.
If he runs out of his spirit energy, his guns that he likes to rely on the most will be useless. He can’t really do any protective spells to shield himself, so he uses talismans for it, and if they break he’s defenseless.
Basically he’s just stronger than average old man without his gear.
He’s kind of sensitive about his graying hair and generally getting old; this mainly stems from being reminded of his mortality, and how much easier it is for him to die than all the others around him, being the only full human in his family. He’s not afraid of death itself, just the fact that him dying could cause some serious heartbreak to everybody around him, given how much people look up to him, even when they’re technically vastly more powerful than he is.
Personality:
Vincent is a pretty relaxed, goofy dad who cracks lot of dad jokes and complains about his age light-heartedly. Despite his seeming aloof persona, he takes his responsibilities as a father and a teacher very seriously, putting aside his wisecracking side if the situation requires it. He’s quite good at reading people’s moods and very patient as a mentor and parental figure, though he will also absolutely tease his kids like a proper embarrassing dork dad.
He’s a very loving and supportive husband, not minding helping his wife with her spell and potion adventures even if they don’t always go as planned. (She’s a witch and not always good with her magic, but she tries her best, and mostly her mishaps aren’t dangerous) He’s not easy to make angry or upset, so if he does get angry you know shit is serious.
BG story:
Vincent traveled to the lands with the two albino brothers Kaspian and Sebastian he’d saved from a demon attack when they were 7, in order to find a potential cure to their demonification curses. During his trip he ends up meeting his now-wife Haname, who rescues them from a large monster (half-accidentally) and she agrees to try and help him figure things out for the boys. Sometime during this time Vincent has a run-in with Araknos, a fight that was caused by slight misunderstanding as Vincent thought he was a demon and not just a half-blood spirit. The fight ends with his wife stopping it, and she points out to Vincent the man is not the monster that had been terrorizing the village, but just a half-blooded spirit kin who happened to have similar traits. Araknos, amused by the whole situation let’s Vincent live as a result. Also out of respect for his wife.
(they end up having more run-ins later, sometimes ending up in a fight as Vincent was bit more hotheaded when young and felt slighted that he’d have lost the fight had his now-wife not rescued him)
Overtime the two grow fond of each other, and Vincent ends up staying with the two, retiring from his demon hunting and focusing most of his energy to help the twins learn to control their powers, as well as parent his newborn daughter. They also eventually add a new member into the family, a lost and injured cat spirit whose previous family was killed, so traumatized he’d forgotten his name. Vincent names the cat Quinn, and he eventually becomes his wife’s familiar.
Sometime later a young telepath Shou ends up being (again, accidentally) rescued by Haname, and Vincent and his wife decide to help the boy learn to control his powers better, as ultimately telepath abilities also base on wielding your own soul energy, the same way they both use their own, just in different ways.
FUN FACTS:
He’s technically the weakest member of his family, being the only full human.
Vincent is very chill about his wife and daughter’s shenanigans and is always very supportive of both
Vincent is that dorky dad-jokes telling parent
His rivalry with Jurou isn’t ultimately that hostile, and both have a tendency to defend one another or warn if someone’s planning to kill the other. Vincent was even surprised to hear about Jurou being involved in the theft his pupil’s GF Akiko went through
Vincent named the cat spirit they took in after his cat he used to have as a child, as the feline spirit reminded him of the said cat
