Pretty interesting when Ice King read Giuseppe's poem, it almost felt like Simon slipped in when he teared up about the story, especially since it hits close to home to him sacrificing his sanity to save Marceline.
Tom Kenny, you deserve those awards without a doubt dude!

Okay alright part 2 ive seen now. I think i can start to scribble down some rambly thoughts. Spoilers for Oceanic Magica against the volcanic witches part 1 and 2.
So this is going in a very different direction than I was expecting. First chapter, I wasn’t a big fan of this whole oceanic and volcanic witches segregation thing. Thought it was quite silly and that it made the witch part of the universe feel less diverse. Now my stupid ass is realizing that’s exactly the point.
So world of ice is currently more of a fantasy political drama. The world of the witches is divided between two parties that already don’t get along well which each other. They try their best to cooperate and make the magic world inhabitable and not destroy their entire system, but as we saw in the court of law in chapter one, it’s difficult. Both sides are screaming at each other during a legal session, can you imagine how their political debates are??
Their legal system is in shambles, as we saw when they tried to prosecute Magica and Grilla. The judges are 2 people, both incredibly biased to their own side, trying to make every session come out in their own favor. Magica literally gets a lighter sentence because she personally knows one of the judges.
The tensions between sea and volcanic witches are pretty high throughout their entire society (it seems they just get out more in court. Kinda like with football in our world), as we see in the second chapter as well. When the 7-2 volcanic witches arrive at Roberta’s (LETS GOOO BTW ROBERTA GOATED why is she so tall though) house and a bunch of sea witches arrive to help her, they immediately grab the chance to insinuate negative assumptions about them. And to make it even more clear, we have our villain proclaiming everything is going according to plan. Like it wasn’t obvious enough.
So let me lay it down ever more obviously. Basically it’s: witch society= two party system that doesn’t work. Bad guy is trying to stir up as much polarization as possible by framing two people from both factions as having committed a terrible crime. Those two people are Magica and Grilla fugitive lovers running away together trying to bring justice to the table and fix society. The whole ice world thing is just a metaphor for problems that we refuse to solve because we’d rather make the other look bad than working together.
So thats the basic gist of it for now. Im especially curious to see how Enna will handle it at the end. Now lets talk about the other fun stuff.
Grilla and Magica are still gay
Some nice character moments that are probably set ups for later (like how magica completely changes character the moment she sees the number one dime. Great scene now that i looked at it again)
Of course it’s not all politics. We also have a lot of great action sequences. And its still a MAGIC society in which this stuff is happening, and its all delightful.
AND ROBERTA KSKSBEKSKSM For some reason Facciotto made her like twice Magica’s height. Look at this.
They used to be the same height now magica has to stand on a stone WHAT DID THEY FEED HER
But I like Roberta she’s a sea witch which eh we’ll see how that turns out. Interesting that she has a whole island for herself. I thought she was more of a traveler. But nothing actually matters except for the fact that shes here and i love her.
Irma is in the magic equivalent of Coral Island. (OR IS SHE??? Oooooohh mysterious who is the figure walkinga round in her house then?) She looks like Juniper from pkna. I guess prison just makes you look younger. I’m gonna sit in a cell for a few weeks and see if my skin has gotten nicer.
The prison looks cool. I wouldn’t mind if it’s gonna be the main setpiece for next week. It honestly looks more interesting than Coral Island already but that could also be recensy bias.
Scrooge is a huge dick which is fun. Feels very Barks. Magica’s line to him: “I’m not a good person, but I would never want to get rich by profiting off a dying world”(very loose translation but thats the general vibe) is great. I’m not expecting anything special with him (he’a just a side character here after all), and you already know when he comes back he will have realized what is right and use what he got for good, but it’s still a nice classic Scrooge thing. It’s at least not DT17 or Rosa Scrooge. I’m sorry I love Gervasio but I’ve just seen too much Rosa Scrooge lately, so this is nice.
Have we talked about Facciotto yet? I feel like I have but I forgot. Doesnt matter because Facciotto deserves all the praise he can get. This is 100% his best work yet. Every single panel looks absolutely stunning. Feels like a completely different art style compared to like 10 years ago. New Facciotto begins here guys.
His designs for the new ocean witches are great too. Character wise i don’t really care that much, same with the volcanic witches. They kind of all blend together except for obvs Grilla.
So that was weekly rambly magica thoughts from me. Remember to ocean your witches okay love you bye

@dreamsofalife liked for a beppe starter !
“Hey, Shy?” Giuseppe’s in a telephone booth, barely able to hold his composure. He’d went out with some friends and was currently regretting it, already hearing the disappointment in his mother’s voice. “I don’t wanna do the walk of shame to my ma’s place. Can I—can I crash on your couch?”

SPOILERS!!! REFERENCES AND EASTER EGGS IN F&C ep. 2: SIMON PETRIKOV
Let me know if I missed anything!
First of all the title sequence is fucking cool. I don't want to speculate about the various things we see in it, like the apartment getting blown up or the Fern tree growing into its 1000+ version, because I'm sure the show will get round to all that!
The first scene was an awesome reintroduction to the post-apocalypse, showing us the dynamic between Simon and Marcy. The button popping off Marcy's dungarees was a reference to young Marcy's first appearance, Memory of a Memory, when she removed one of the buttons herself to fix Hambo's eye.
Simon was show playing a live set at Dirt Beer Guy's tavern in Obsidian. It seems they've gotten to know each other quite well over the past twelve years. Dirt Beer Guy asks Simon if he's read his new book draft, about a character called Joe Milkshake who was first mentioned in the episode Root Beer Guy.
Despite the fact we saw Jake in the trailers, Finn and T.V. pretty much confirm in this scene that Jake is dead, and has presumably been dead since before Obsidian. I guess Bronwyn wasn't the only Jake descendant who Finn took on as an apprentice, but T.V. doesn't seem all that into it. The Finn and Jake we saw in the trailer are likely from an alternate universe that we have yet to see.
Finn uses his weed whacker to cut through these bushes. A nice way of showing he's fully recovered from his Fern guilt. The focus here is very much on Simon's problems instead of Finn's.
Finn parts with Simon to go and visit Huntress Wizard. The nature of their relationship remains ambiguous and I expect it to stay that way.
Simon has the Island Lady from The Party's Over Isla de Señorita in his phone. I guess they reconnected after he became Simon again. He also has Abracadaniel. I always liked Ice King's friendship with Abracadaniel and the rest of the Order of Giuseppe so I hope they're still friends!
Cute Bubbline scene. Back in the episode Bonnibel Bubblegum, Mr. Creampuff suggested he and PB get matching tattoos. Now she's (trying to) do the same with the girl she's chosen rather than some guy who was chosen for her! Also Marceline is using the same phone she's been seen with in a few previous episodes, including Go With Me and Be Sweet.
I think the flying human city is called Up-Ton.
Choose Goose! He keeps coming back! And he's evil now! People were joking about him being the antagonist of Fionna and Cake after that weird post-credits scene in Wizard City and the fact he was in hell in Together Again. I wasn't expecting that to actually come true. Glob knows why he's hanging out in a cage in Simon's house.
The pattern of GOLB's eyes is reflected in Simon's glasses during the ritual. He is doing the same dance that Betty was doing to summon GOLB in the finale.
Among the objects in Simon's GOLB shrine are the Farmworld Enchiridion, the flying carpet that Simon stole from Ash and was later frequently used by Betty, the crocodile clips that Betty used for her magic rituals, two effigies of GOLB, and what looks to be the shell of the snail who was seen throughout the original series.
In this credits sequence, Fionna and cake are dreaming about the mask being worn by the bear than Finn slew, and a butterfly with a smiley face on it. Perhaps symbolising Finn?
Tune in next week for episodes 3 and 4!

for people being confused about the presence of apples in fionna and cake and how that might relate to betty, there is an even weirder symbolic presence of apples with ice king in "thanks for the crabapples, giuseppe".
he's first shown asking one of the passengers that he named giuseppe to get the apples, leaving him behind, and then reading a VERY emotional poem giuseppe wrote about a father and daughter that made ice king emotional for obvious reasons, THEN having giuseppe appear again at the mention of accepting destiny and ice king coming to the conclusion that "he was trying to show us something new," THEN having the wizard crew have secret rings with the crabapple tree, and then the weirdest thing, which is having the episode end with the tree and ice king just saying "giuseppe."
there is so much weirdness to unpack here, but i think the weirdest is how it ended, with the whole thing ending just with the apple tree and ice king saying this guy's name. to give a brief summary, my thoughts just go to giuseppe offering ice king a peek into the past with his poem that reminded of his relationship as a human with marceline. leaving giuseppe behind is a symbol of leaving the past behind, only for giuseppe to unexpectedly appear again and ice king feeling like his presence is triggering a new way to look at and understand things like his own repressed memories. so ice king thinking of giuseppe and saying his name at the end is a rare moment of reflection for the strange experience he gave him emotionally and why it affected him the way he did, and also once again trying to elaborate on this "new way of looking at things" before he inevitably reverts back to his default much less self aware ice king mode.
i don't think i can summarize all of the thoughts i have about this without this post becoming even longer, but i just wanted to post this here because of the incredibly strange decision for the writers to put potential symbolism on apples in adventure time and fionna and cake, particularly on ice king/simon, and now on betty.

“Ayy, Enzo! Got somethin’ over here ya might like. You listen to all sorts of stuff, don’tcha?”
Giuseppe waves Melvin over, holding up a tape that he found particularly interesting. “You heard of ‘em? ELO’s got some great music. One of my personal favorite bands. I didn’t think they were from here, purely thought they were from the States.”
You learn something new everyday!

The Overflowing Heart
I will tell you how I made this witch’s token, but you will have to find a way of your own. It is as Grandmother Wren told us,
“Remember always that some portion of magic is yours to wield, and that the world contains many, many truths.”
the recipe:
3/4 oz Kazuki gin
1 1/2 oz. Sake + tea mixture
1 oz. fresh squeezed grapefruit
3/4 oz. Strega
shake over ice, and serve in your finest or favourite tea cup
garnish with dried rose petals
notes:
Sherringham Kazuki gin— a collaboration of one of my favourite distilleries and my favourite local tea shop, Westholme Tea Farm. Made from Japanese cherry blossoms, and locally grown tea leaves with notes of yuzu, grapefruit, and juniper. I first visited Sherringham in a trio of my own, on a day long adventure, visiting a beach someway up the island. Westholme is run by an old coworker of my Aunt’s, and his partner who makes gorgeous pottery. I could not put words to my excitement when I first heard whispers of their collaboration.
Sake + Tea Mixture— I can never fully recreate this just the same. There is magic in that, I think. I have little left. I made it by taking a sprinkling of the following teas from Westholme, and cold steeping them in a mason jar with a large ice cube, topped with sake and a splash of moon bathed witch water.
featuring:
Blossom: (jasmine green, floral), for the cottage’s calendar
Bi Luo Chun: (green, delicate and earthy), for i thought it was grown here, over seven long years (I rolled a nat 1 on my perception check)
Pur-eh: (fermented, earthy), for its mushroominess and it’s connection therin
Dog: (black assam, vanilla and cardamon, from the Chinese Zodic series), the cardamom pod and a few leaves, for our beloved Fox
Witch Water: the witch water used in this potion was bathed in the Friday, October 13th New Moon (a day so witchy I thought for sure the class would be released that day!) in an empty kazuki gin vessel
~
Grapefruit— because it was pink and in season and a citrus I love dearly
Strega— the witch liqueur! According to legend, Giuseppe Alberti was given the recipe for this elixir after saving a witch falling out of the sacred walnut tree, under which witches would convene to dance and perform their rituals.
for the cocktail chapter of the @worldsbeyondpod unofficial cookbook

It was a privilege to share the same blood as Giuseppe Geppetto. To be his family, his niece and take part in the marvelous worlds of puppets. The privilege to learn from him as his apprentice. The privilege to care for the things he cares for and to have the things he cares for, care deeply for you.
Tag List:
@greeknerd007 , @mitsureigen , @kame11a , @thirdblogsacharm , @sarah22447 , @blueberryhitosh1 , @written1nthest4rs , @huicitawrites
TW in general: Yandere behaviour, creepy and still puppet, dubious intentions and relationship, still in WIP more warnings may occure in time, also I am running out of pictures of P he looks the same in every pic (but prettily so)
[Also, I am gonna be like that and mention that I would not mind any comments or reblogs! This series is definitely gonna have short chapters and is currently building up settings but there's gonna be good ol yandere Pinocchio tailing after you like a puppy afterwards, no worries!]
This night also proved itself to be a long one. As well as lonely.
The prattling was thankfully easy to stop, or at least cut down to simple replies when requested. The complete silence once you shut the two butlers down however, felt like a sudden and bare contact with ice.
All windows were tightly shut to fight off the howling wind and rain and the only flickering light left in the workshop was that of your own. Just as Geppetto had returned and hung his coat, it was taken off just as quickly.
You've paid it no mind. Uncle was a busy man. Always has been.
Usually having a part of your table be empty and clean felt like a load of work was finished and tidied away but you found yourself musing over the doll in your hand. You put it in a sitting position before, only for it to fall again and again on its back. Feeling bad enough, you decided to have it sit on the edge of the table while supporting it from both sides.
You remember clearly how you were able to have it sit on a tiny, little stool, that you borrowed from your father's office, and pretended to have it listen to your whimsical stories. Now it feels like an old lady unable to properly stay still without help.
Uncle even inserted kneecaps to have it bend or, as you liked to pretend when you were younger, swing its legs at the edge of that small stool.
She was a friend to you in older times who was constantly nice to you. Not just sometimes.
Though in this state, holding it in your hands like this, the doll felt more like an obstacle than a friend.
A sigh of frustration escaped you. No matter how enticing the image was, you could not insert a voice box in it. Not yet.
Your dear, old friend was too outdated. Too small and not meant to serve and entertain as a puppet, but to be a little girl's companion as a doll. That little girl has grown though, and the doll offered her nostalgia rather than actual help. A doll, the size of a forearm, could not offer any aid in becoming a puppet maker.
It would have to grow like the little girl did.
Nodding to no one but yourself, you quietly promised the doll your return as you walked out of your room and skipped down the stairs. In a flow you turned around the corner to collect an oil lamp and made sure to flick on the hallway's light. Though when taking a peek outside, the stormy weather adviced you to look for an umbrella.
"...I know you, that glint in your eyes...is so familiar..." With a quick but playful gait, you found an umbrella leaning abandoned in the corner. Uncle must be collecting these like dust and setting them aside whereever he may find himself to be considering Krat's predictable moderate rain.
The floors creaked at your steps and the walls seemed to replicate the wind's howl in their own manner. You'd rather interpet it as that than believe that the old wood is not strong enough to withstand the noise outside.
Geppetto once mentioned that this was his way of forecasting the weather and if he could go outside at an nice day. Yet you did not really feel like taking advantage of that little 'quirk' the workshop offered.
"...a gleam...", Testing out the waters first and if that umbrella number uptenth was indeed not used up, you quickly made your way outside. Uncle's coat was still not hanging there and it made you let out a sigh of relief.
He would be incredibly upset at you. Being up and about at this hour and singing! Now you are even stepping out into the rain.
The door was shut a bit too roughly as you rushed through the plaza. The destination was an stone's thrown away but the walk still proved itself to be a hassle through the pouring weather. Nevertheless, you felt it would be worth it.
The plaza was rather empty. A few silhouettes hidden by their long cloaks, as dark as the sky, were standing or talking idly in the corners, a few with peers and some with puppets. Alongside the chatting and tinny that accompanied the rain, your footsteps were the loudest as you approached the bulleting board. The dim lights illuminated the stained glass but you could still make out the newspaper clips. There on the corner was an edition posted from this month still.

ROSA ISABELLE STREET 27
NEAR THE CITY'S...
You skipped over the trivial information, writing down the street's name. It admittedly made your stomach drop a bit at the sight of such a prestitious place known for its luxury and...expensive prices. Yet the monthly pay you earned should be enough. Your wallet could suffer just for once...right?
Oh, if your parents ever heard of such an endevour...they surely wouldn't be pleased.
Your shoes ended up soaked in the rain but nothing too difficult to clean and hide. The wet umbrella could be hidden in your room...as well as your coat.
"And I know that visions are seldom all they seem..."
You neatly folded the paper - only to throw it away once it was too wet to store anywhere. Writing its content in your notes, you shoved the notebook back into your cupboard. "...but if I know you..." Skipping the last few stairs, you hummed as you tidied the place.
Or; 'Getting rid of evidence' - it sounded so foolish and cheesy but also exciting.
The wind continued to howl and the rain aggressively hit the walls but your mood nor your plans would be deterred. Even if they were the only sounds to accompany you tonight.
"...I know what you'll..."
Passing the hallway with hand towels in your arms your quick gait became slower and slower. Stopping mid-way, your gaze mustered the dimly lit area. You heard that right.
"...do...?"
Your foot took one, careful step as you leaned further to the wall. That didn't come from the outside, couldn't have now, could it?
No. The rain and wind came from the window to your left. And to your right...
Nose scrunching up, you turned around the corner. You held up the oil lamp above your head, narrowed eyes scanning the table and your song continuing in a soft and confused tone.
You turned the butlers off, didn't you?
"...You'll love me...at..."
Yes. Yes, you did, certainly you did this morning. Neither you nor your uncle touched them since then.
So why are you hearing rattling?
Those were springs. You were so, so incredibly sure, the sound as familiar as the beating of your own heart.
"...once..."
You bit your lip and decided to stay still. Head tilting to the other side, you listened again. The rain, the wind, the flickering flame in your hand...
And that's it.
Waiting a few moments more, you sighed through your nose before continuing where you halted. If you don't hurry, Geppetto will be back.
You really hoped he wouldn't end up being right that staying up late would bite you later.

"You...you want me to congratulate him for stealin'? I-I mean, if it'll help you, I guess I could." The mention of Jerry leaves Beppe scratching his head, but if complimenting the guy on his thievery would keep Honey's business thriving, he'd do it. "So, he's like a celebrity or somethin' over there?"
He sighs, resigning himself to the newer cultures he's learning about. "You think he'd let me have an autograph? Or would he steal my pen?" It's a half-joke. Maybe if he ever got in trouble with the other side, he could use the signature to get out of it.
"I know, I know...it's just...reeaaal hard to explain." Honey huffs, putting her head in her hands. It's always hard to explain things like this to Light-siders; they often didn't understand the intricacies of doing business with those on the other side of the veil. Gremlins tended to be shifty, as was their nature, and getting on their bad side all but guaranteed mechanical failure all across her shop, if not outright catastrophe.
"Jerry's a dirty, shifty little snitch and a lousy pickpocket." A beat. "But, he's also like...super influential where he's from. I don't want any trouble. Next time you see him try'na steal, call him out but not in a bad way; in his culture, it's s'posed to be a compliment."
