A dnd oc inspired by Oona from Disenchantment and maybeeee Luci too (been rewatching the series with my friend)
A kiddo of Kas's with potentially a sibling oc by my friend. Also a lot of pain and betrayal associated to this one

Disenchantment Tarot Deck (part 3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello again (:
Today I am posting the last cards that compose the full set of Major Arcanas.
I remember the first time I started to post the images someone asked me if I was going to use Satan or Luci as The Devil, which was a fair question because both of them fits the Archetype. At first I was going to use Satan not only because he looks like a classical devil but also ruled hell. Another reason for that it's because Luci already takes place in other Major Arcana cards and having varieties makes the deck looks richer in matter of compositions.
But just like the Empress when I was in doubt between choosing Oona and Dagmar, I still chose Luci to be The Devil because he literally pranks Satan and its powers. Nothing is more devilish than Luci, and this image shows: lots of people are attracted to him.
For The Tower I made 2 options: one of them is Bean falling out of the castle, and it's interesting because on the original Tower card there are 2 people falling from it, so Bean brings the perspective of one of them falling and also the card shows this chaotic, destructive energy just like The Tower card. For the second option, the castle itself. It's not on fire yet, but it's about to be, just like when doing a Tarot reading.
My favorite card from all of the Major Arcanas is The Star! It was a card that gave me some headache to do it and fit the frame. I used 3 of the same images to make this one and I am proud of me for that (LOL). As you can see, that's Mora's constelation.
The Moon brings the moment where Bean was watching that big bright moon not knowing if her thing with Mora was real or just a dream. The Moon plays a very unconcious but very important role on the cinematographic industry, and Disenchantment followed the same idea. It's all about dreams, fantasy, the unconscious, mistery... Bean is in the picture but I cut her out of the frame because the card looked empty with her on it, and it's not really important to show her when everyone that watched the show would recognize this moment.
And finally for the Judgement card, Herald MUST be on this card, having in mind that Judgement is a big announcement. On the original card, there are naked people getting out of their graves, a ressurection is happening. It's all about looking behind and learning with our mistakes. So the first image to me is perfect. I used another version for Herald because there is a big angel blowing a trumped that wakes everyone up on the original card. The 3rd option offers a more insightful meaning because Judgement is also about looking for ourselves and recognizing past mistakes, and Bean is not looking disrectly on the mirror because that actually take some work.
Don't worry about the quality of some of the images, I'm enchancing them all so they all look smooth in the final results.
And this completes the full set of Major Arcanas for the Disenchantment Tarot Deck! Next week I'll be posting a full set of the Minor Arcanas: one week for cups, another one for wands, then pentacles and finally swords.
I'd love to hear about what do you guys think about it. Is there a favorite card to you? What version of the cards you think it fits best? Thank you so much for the interactions, it's been lovely to read them all!
See you next week.

feeling ??? because it seems like i'm one of the few people who didn't like the ending of disenchantment lmao. i'm going to take a second to rant, sorry. under the cut
i DO like that miri/mop girl becomes queen since it was foreshadowed so much.
i didn't really like miri and elfo, it felt forced. i would say rushed too but that's true for most of the romantic relationships in disenchantment lmao. (like, i think bean and mora was also rushed but i did actually like their relationship)
i've seen complaints about bean's love speech and while i sort of get it, i didn't mind it because she didn't just mention mora. she was talking about her dad and oona and her friends too.
but i do think that speech sort of loses it's meaning bc then she fucks off and just leaves her friends to be with mora for the rest of her life i guess?? i find that so aggravating lmao. like they paired everyone off and separated them and i'm supposed to view it as a happy, satisfying ending. we went from season 2 where bean literally goes to hell to bring elfo back to... bean not even saying goodbye to him before she leaves.
and this goes with my other complaint that bean didn't seem to care as much about elfo and luci as she did mora. which is annoying. like, luci died too and he didn't even get a funeral. and then bean doesn't even care that elfo is still alive after she thought he died in the cavern? annoying. the prioritization of romantic love this season was wack!!! i think it's so jarring because there were 4 other seasons that weren't like this!!
i did like luci's one wish being for mora to come back to life for bean. it made me cry.
no honestly im so surprised so many people liked it. i thought this was the "hates when the found family is separated at the end of the series" website??? and this is a case where it's actually applicable!! ugh
i doubt anyone read this but if you did. hi? and i'm not going to argue with anyone about this, you cannot change my mind lol. i didn't like it. sorry!!

So I guess there’s some hate for Part 3 of Disenchantment? Unreal. It’s my favorite. Not only more character development for our beloved trio, but Oona, Derek, Merkimer, Zog and Mora steal the show at various points. I just love everyone, it all started coming together in Part 2 and now it’s all tightly snug and making magical music. Also… everyone says they cried during Seymour’s episode in Fururama. It always made me sad but I never cried. You know what made me cry tho? Zog and Bean’s heart to heart… I was legit sobbing on the couch. I went from hating Zog in Part 1 to really empathizing with him and understanding him better in Part 3. He’s a complicated man but he clearly loves Bean very much. She needs him and he needs her, so I really hope he is able to get better. Elfo and Edith was so cute. Bean and Mora are married. Also Luci’s sacrifice was chef’s kiss, there’s a gooey marshmallow deep inside that smouldering furnace of a kitty cat that’s been gooifying since Elfo died. The snarky bastard who doesn’t do feelings and can’t take anything seriously *does* have a heart. Dammit, that’s my favorite trope. I’m interested to see where they take him and he’s not really dead.
Also… I want to find a Derek costume for halloween and wear it to work so bad 😭

this is so niche but like. i just finished part 3 of disenchantment and need to spitball a total drama au even though the show isnt done yet. spoilers and rambling below the cut.
okay so like gwen is bean. like she just gives me bean vibes i honestly cant see her being any other character.
i think noah is luci though alejandro is a strong contender noah just seems more luci yknow?
elfo I think could go in two directions. we could go the typical route and have cody be elfo bc he simps for gwen and all that but i think changing elfo’s personality/role in this au could allow courtney to be elfo.
like elves are more stereotypically snooty and classy in this au and have strict rules and courtney very much sticks to the rules but maybe lady elves or just elves in general aren’t allowed to be as aggressive and driven as she is so she leaves them to carve a path for herself.
so shes not as much of a pushover asl elfo but she’s very much a stickler for the rules and has a bit of a holier than thou attitude and is a bit stuck up
maybe shes also a princess and never mentions it because she leaves her throne behind and doesnt want to be bound to princess duties that get in the way of her doing what she wants to do yknow? and thats something she can hide from gwen but as time goes on and the elves come to dreamland (which should be called wawanakwa) gwen learns more about courtney’s princess past and they bond over it.
if we go the route with courtney then mora doesnt really exist in this au bc im gwourtney trash and that aint changing anytime soon.
but it takes a while for gwen and courtney to like each other. courtney and noah also clash but noah and gwen get along pretty well.
also noah looks like his usual self but can turn into pretty much what luci looks like when he wants to because magic demon powers and bc I love luci’s appearance so much (girl help i have gender envy for a fucking cartoon demon)
as for zog, derek, and oona, we’re gonna change them into sibling roles. lets say gwen’s dad, the king, had a lot of queens who all died after bearing him a child so gwen has a bunch of half siblings. and her dad is dead too. its the curse of zog or whatever it is in canon.
maybe cody could be derek (gwen does say he reminds her of an annoying little brother) and owen can be zog, and he rules with izzy as his queen, though it was an arranged marriage and izzy eventually divorces him to become a pirate queen like oona
and dagmar’s role can be gwen’s oldest sister, heather, who got turned to stone when gwen was younger and having only brothers and a crazy sister in law gwen idealizes heather as this great older sister despite barely remembering her. heather uses that to her advantage because she’s evil and once gwen finds that out they really dont get along (like dagmar and bean in canon)
owen is obsessed with the immortality pendant to bring his sister back to life after their drinks got switched not realizing that heather was trying to kill him so she could take the throne
i think chris should be odval bc he and bean have a hilarious dynamic that could totally be replicated with gwen and chris. and if chris has a gay wizard lover it HAS to be chef. chef is sorcerio
justin is merkimer. like really nobody else could be merkimer
trent is pendergast (my beloved) and turbish and mertz can be some hapless interns or maybe someone from a later cast, like spud and rock (that would actually be so funny spud can absolutely be turbish)
blaineley is the archdruidess of course
i dont know where alejandro fits in bc of course hes gonna be noah’s love interest but luci didn’t really have any love interests (except for kissy for a hot second but idc ab that) but i do think it would be funny if the usually unflappable demon noah suddenly has a crush on some handsome guy and is trying to hide it from his friends but hes terrible at it and gwen and courtney are teasing him 24/7 ab it. and noah is sad because alejandro would never want to date a demon if he knew what he really was but psych alejandro is a demon too. that’d be a great arc
i think beth would make a sweet bunty
and poor lindsay could be jerry! idk about becky and cloyd though… or the gunderson brothers… def need to know more about the last two before casting them
ok im crashing now but this is definitely gonna be something i revisit in the future. probably won’t post any fics until season 4 comes out so i know the full story before writing…
harold as the jester though

Hi! Can I please request some Faceclaim suggestions aged 19-35 that could be a love interest for Merlin (Colin Morgan) in BBC Merlin, please? thank you so much!!
Hi Anon! I love looking for faceclaims so you asked in the right box! Thanks to tumblr I wanna say Bradley James right away 🤣 ?
On a more serious note, for a female character I’m thinking of Aisling Franciosi (the nightingale), Amita Suman (the outpost/shadow & bone), Amy Wren (the last kingdom), Ana de Armas (hispania: la leyenda), Anna Kendricks (into the wood), Astrid Berges-Frisbey (la reine morte/king arthur), Danielle Galligan (shadow & bone), Elizabeth Lail (ouat), Ellie Kendrick (got), Emma Appleton (the witcher), Jessica Brown Findlay (labyrinth), Kate Mara (ironclad), Lucy Griffiths (robin hood), Phoebe Fox (the hollow crown), Roisin Murphy (vikings), Katherine Langford (cursed), Marina Moschen (deus salve o rei), Oona Chaplin (got), Charlotte Riley (world without end), Hayley Atweel (pillars of the earth) or Meghan Ory (ouat).
For a male maybe Hayden Christensen (outcast/virgin territory), Jannis Niewohner (maximilian), Mark Rowley (the last kingdom), Tom Hopper (northmen: avs/got/merlin), Elliot Knight (another Merlin in ouat), Jale Stormoen (the outpost), Daniel Radcliffe (miracle workers) or Tom Payne (the physician)...
Hope I’ll be of some help with this list... but be sure to check the faceclaim directory of @echodplaines if none of these names are quite what you’re looking for!
Have a nice day 🌼

Mosaic (Disenchantment Fanfiction)
Summary: We are just mosaics of everyone we love and that mosaic shows everyone we love how beautiful they are. Bean doesn’t think she can love like everyone else but maybe that’s okay.
Fandom: Disenchantment
Word Count: 2K
Characters: Bean
Relationships: Bean/ Mora, Mentioned Bean & Everyone, Mentioned Odval/ Sorcerio, Mentioned Zog/ Oona, Mentioned Zog/ Dagmar
Warnings: Internalized arophobia, first person pov, some self-deprecation, sex mention, drug mention, mention of interspecies relationships in fantasy setting
Other Tags: F/F, Mentioned F/F QPR, Reflection/ Self-Reflection/ Internal Thoughts, No Dialogue, Queerplatonic, Aromantic Character, Aromantic Homosexual Character, Arospec Character, Queer Themes, Unreliable Narrarator, S3E6, Oneshot, AroWriMo 2021
Author’s Note: My friend sent me the line “I am a mosaic of everyone I’ve ever loved” about twenty minutes after I watched “Final Splash.” I’m working on the prompt for Week 2 of AroWriMo rn but I had to drop everything and write a short fic about this. Again, I didn’t really use the prompt but it kind of fits with week 1’s prompt romo/loveless & future.
I’m headcanonnoning Bean as aro or demiro/ greyro. I think in the show it was implied she never experienced romantic attraction prior to meeting Mora because she likes women and I don’t want to erase that in any way but Bean still gives off a big aromantic bisexual homo(queer)platonic vibe.
_____________________
My name is Princess Tiabeanie of Dreamland and I’ve never loved anyone.
I mean, I love my dad and my friends and all that but I’ve never loved loved anyone. Is that weird to say? That makes it sound like I don’t really love my dad and Elfo and Luci and everyone. I probably shouldn’t say that then because I actually love them a lot. They’re my everything.
One time, I was walking down Elf-Ally and this elf was sitting on the side of the road with some chalk. I feel like elves would really like chalk but I’ve never seen any of them use it, not even Arto, except this guy. I’d never seen anything like it before so I asked what he was doing and he said he was making this mosaic to show his love for this other elf he liked. I didn’t really understand it so he explained it to me like this: we are just mosaics of everyone we love and that mosaic shows everyone we love how beautiful they are.
I still didn’t get it so I just laughed at him and he got kind of upset and threw a piece of chalk at me. It didn’t really hurt but Luci was with me and the elf started throwing stuff at him and you know how Luci gets when he hits his nose so we left. I couldn’t really forget what that elf said though.
You see, a mosaic is a mix of a bunch of little pieces taken from different things that all come together to make one thing. There’s this mosaic at the church and it’s pretty freaking ugly but the mosaic this elf was making was just so beautiful. He used so many colors and he drew all these little pictures and hid these words I didn’t understand in them. I’d expect it to be all crude and gross like those scribbly pictures Derek would draw when he was younger that Oona pretended to love but it all came together so well. It didn’t even look like separate pieces. It was just one.
I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The influences of countless parts of my life, weaving together into an insanely complex mesh- That felt like me. I always felt like something was broken in me but maybe I’m just a mosaic.
I think my dad made me who I am the most. Even if he wasn’t really present most of my life. Sure, we don’t see eye to eye sometimes but I think we’re better because of that. He made me strong. His actions guided me into becoming the woman I am today. He taught me how to keep fighting. Literally and figuratively. He taught me to keep my head up and he taught me how to stab people. It’s pretty cool. I remember this one time as a kid he took me out to the courtyard, stole this guy’s knife, and taught me how to use it. I think I still have the knife actually. I don’t stab people with it anymore though.
(I hope he’s okay. He hasn’t been the same in awhile.)
My mom… Well, I don’t really love her anymore but I did for a long time. She was… How do I put it? A constant in my life. Even though she wasn’t there. What I felt towards her, it kept me together for a long time. When I had nothing to fall back on, I always had her memory. Until she tried to take over Dreamland, obviously. Now I just say she gave me my love for alcohol and that’s pretty sweet too.
(I still miss her. I bet she’s dead.)
You know those pictures where the guy has an angel and demon on his shoulders telling him what to do? That’s Elfo and Luci, and it’s literal for Luci. And maybe for Elfo? He did go to heaven that one time. It can be kind of annoying to hear them bickering all the time, especially since they almost never want the same thing, but I wouldn’t trade them for anything. Elfo keeps me safe and Luci pushes me to be more than I am. They make life fun. Fuller. Less lonely.
(I’m scared they might leave someday. I wouldn’t blame them.)
I don’t really like Derek but I still love him. Maybe a little less since he tried to burn me at the stake. Maybe a little more since he chickened out at the last second. And a little less because he still went through with it. And maybe a little more since it was an accident. We have a complicated relationship but he’s still my little brother, as weird as he is. He reminds me of what I have to fight for, if that makes sense. I don’t really see him as the future of Dreamland or anything but he’s still a little kid and I can’t really help but have a soft spot for him. Don’t tell him I said that.
(I wonder if he’ll keep me around when he’s king. I’d be lying if I said I was surprised.)
The same goes for Oona. I never liked her but I think I love her. Especially after she tried to save me from my mom. And since she became an epic pirate. She’s awesome. She’s the mom I always wished I had except she was actually there the whole time and I didn’t realize it. I’m happy with how things turned out though. I don’t regret it. Plus she’s got great taste in drugs. I still steal them sometimes.
(I don’t know if she loves me. Maybe she did once but not anymore.)
I kind of hate Odval and Sorcerio in a weird way where I like them at the same time. They’re not really family but always been there. Like they’re kind of like second dads to me. Second dads whose the sex lives I know way too much about. My gay polyamorous uncles? But they kind of care under all that court properness and tradition nonsense so they’ve kind of wormed their way into my heart. They’ve always made my life difficult but I don’t think I would be myself if I wasn’t challenged so much.
(I think they’d rather have me gone. They don’t hide it every well but I can pretend.)
I’m going to be honest, I was really bummed when Pendergast died. We were kind of the same age and he hung around the castle for most of my life. And my dad trusted him so we actually did stuff together sometimes. A lot of adventures that never really went anywhere. He could be kind of a stick in the mud but he never really minded that I’m a girl and let me tag along on crusades and helped me get better with weapons and stuff. And Pendergast was weirdly loyal to Dreamland, even after Dad forked his eye out. Or was it spooned? I don’t remember. Some kind of eating utensil. I wasn’t there when it happened. But it was nice knowing I could trust him. He could be kind of fun though when he was off-duty. Total lightweight though. He threw up on one of those little guys who carries dad’s cape once.
(I wish I’d known him better. I really miss him but I can’t tell anyone since Dad gets set off by anything that even reminds him of the guy.)
Who else is there? That’s right, Mertz and Turbish. Turbish and Mertz. Two peas in a pod. Plus Mrs. Mertz. Don’t get me wrong, they are idiots. Totally incompentant. It’s a wonder they’re still alive. But they’re sweet. And they try. They’re not good at anything but they try. Sometimes I don’t want to try but they tell me I always can.
(I’m waiting for the day they realize they could have a better life. It’ll be weird not having them around the palace.)
I even kind of like Merkimer. As a pig, not a human. God, he was an awful human but he’s a funny little pig. He lets Luci ride on his back sometimes. Both of them like it way more than either of them will ever admit. It’s cute. I think they’re friends. If they’re not, Elfo and I will start plotting until they are. Or maybe not. A Luci-Merkimer friendship might be too much for Dreamland to handle. They’re kind of a lot, even on their own. Merkimer always kind of had a big head and it only got bigger when he accepted his new life. It’s actually kind of inspiring how happy he is now.
(I don’t want him to change but he already has. It makes me sad sometimes.)
And Bunty. Oh, Bunty. And Stan! The world doesn’t really deserve Bunty. Stan does though. I think they’re the ones who taught me what real love is. Bunty always showed me love as a kid, she was like the second mom I never had but actually did have because Oona was there. But she gave me something neither Oona or Dagmar could. I didn’t really understand it until I saw her and Stan and their family together. I still don’t. They’re really sweet.
(I’d give them everything. I know they just see me as some spoiled princess though.)
I want what those two have. Or what Odval and Sorcerio have. What my dad had with Dagmar or Oona. What Elfo’s had, and Luci’s had, and Derek’s had, and the knights have had. It feels like everyone’s had that kind of deep love at some point except me. I didn’t even realize until I was talking to Mora.
I’ve had the chance to have it. Merkimer, that brother of his I accidentally killed, that one time Pendergast made a pass at me, that Steamland guy… I don’t think any of it really would’ve worked out though. I’ve had a lot of things with guys and there’s been kissing and touching and I’ve always enjoyed it but I think I always knew it would never go anywhere. That it will never go anywhere. And I can’t even blame my dad because it’s all me. It’s always been me. And I’m okay with that? Maybe? I don’t think so but I’m not really good at understanding my feelings. It’s just another thing on the pile of things I won’t work through.
I think I understood what I had with Mora though. It wasn’t… romantic but it felt like it almost was. We just… clicked. It felt right. She was tough and funny and she didn’t hold anything back. She followed her dreams and didn’t let the world get her down. That one night we had together, I felt like we were alone in the world.
Mora gave me the ocean and the stars.
She was beautiful. Maybe that’s what was missing? None of the guys I ever screwed around with were beautiful. Not like Mora was. Not like a woman can be. I really felt like this was it but there was still that disconnect. Like something was there but not quite. Like something was missing. I don’t know what it was.
But then she just left. I had that dream and I just felt so happy. I’d never felt happiness like that. And I never felt pain like the pain I felt when I woke up and the necklace was gone. I definitely would’ve cried if Elfo wasn’t there. I might’ve actually cried a little bit. It’s kind of hard to hear anything when Elfo’s sobbing. Some of those tears might have been mine.
Did I love her? I don’t think so. Not like Elfo loved that boat. It wasn’t romantic. But it was real. It gives me hope. I don’t think I’m capable of the same kind of love everyone else seems capable of and that’s not even a slight at me. It’s just reality. But what I had with Mora, however brief and imagined it was, tells me that’s okay. I don’t need the kind of love everyone else has. Not when I have so many others in my life.
Still, I hope I see her again, even for a second, just to feel that kind of happiness again.
I think that’s what that elf meant when he said we are just mosaics of everyone we love and that mosaic shows everyone we love how beautiful they are. Mora was beautiful and she didn’t see it but maybe she would if she saw how I looked at her.
Stars and the ocean, I’ll never forget them. They’ll be a part of my mosaic forever.

Little things I loved about Disenchantment Season 2
I think Elfo's like... Genuinely over his crush on Bean. Like he'd still do anything for her but it's not because he wants to fuck her, it's because they're BFFs. And it fixes so much about the group's chemistry that Elfo isn't being a creep anymore!
Bean and Elfo's FRIENDSHIP!!! I mean they kiss occasionally (usually for survival purposes) but like they genuinely feel like platonic friend kisses, because they don't make it weird!!! Only Matt Groening could pull off this level of genuine mlm/wlw solidarity
Elfo and Luci know eachother so fucking well??? Like Elfo just occasionally hops in and explains things about Luci to others like he's his husband or something... And there's so many moments where they're just like, hanging out with just eachother, supporting eachother, and so many implied scenes where we just catch the tail end of them just... being adorable??? They have such good chemistry holy fuck I love
Bean is such a genuinely good leader to her people, even/especially when she's not allowed to lead. That there were so many occasions where she had to help her people in a sort of underground fashion, and like... She might not be eligible for the throne, but she is the one who is holding this kingdom together. She knows her people, she knows what her people need, and she is willing to do anything, fight against any system, to make necessary change happen.
Bean's newfound scientific and artistic interests!!! She is gonna drag her kingdom outta the dark ages even if it kills her and I LOVE IT
LUCI'S BAR!!! He's making a whole new life for himself, being a productive member of his community (even though he doesn't have to be)
Luci's bar also feels like some sort of like... Community grounds too. Most buisinesses in Dreamland are kinda race-oriented, but Luci's bar has such a diverse clientele, it's refreshing to see all these different kinds of character designs all in one place! And the fact that he makes a point to learn the biological limits of every race in the kingdom, so that he can best serve his customers??? Holy shit Luci you RULE
Elfo having come to terms with his half-elf status and like, skirting the edges of Elf society, making himself their go-between, is also just so good. Elfo and Luci are like... a power couple
Elfo is... A BADASS??? Like, genuinely????? God damn the animation in those fight sequences where he just goes apeshit are SO GOOD
Speaking of badasses, there were so many badass ladies this season! The bear lady, Oona, all those steampunk knights? Queer RIGHTS
THE SETTINGS!!!!! God DAMN the setting shots this season were just GORGEOUS.
The show letting itself veer more towards modernity, with the coffee shops and the steampunk elements and everything, was so brilliant. And I'm not just talking about that one steampunk episode either, like... That security system made of little bells tied to red strings, mimicking the stereotypical lazer security system????? That shit was TIGHT as FUCK yo!!!!!
Can we please for the love of god have an official ship name for Luci x Elfo because Jesus Fuck I love them so much. I mean I've been shipping them pretty much from the get-go but god damn they were so married this season. They even got an apartment together like Jesus fuck these boys
Bean going on her own adventures!!! Granted it was a bit jarring that Luci and Elfo weren't by her side nearly as much as they were in season 1, but like, this adventurous girl can carry so many unique narratives on her own??? It's badass!
Bean being unapologetically, casually, genuinely interested in girls. She's just... A lesbean.... I can think of at least 5 different girls that she was attracted to, and she successfully flirted with at least 2 of them. A true bicon

Costume Quest Season One Part Two
A few days have passed since the rest of Costume Quest season one dropped, but I’ll stick to the Spoiler routine just in case.
Brief non-spoiler thoughts. Wow, this was good. They didn’t do a couple of things I thought they would, they did do a couple of things I thought they would, but in ways I didn’t expect that were ten times better. And I got at least one thing spot on.
Anyway, the rest below the cut off.
Oh, wow did that get epic. I admit it started off a bit week and there were some odd things I didn’t quite get behind. Since when does the president of a candy factory run a town? Okay yeah, Auburn Hollow is literally a factory town, but I’m pretty sure they would elect a mayor and city council at some point. Also, since when is a company president chosen in a public election? I get that they needed to put the nougat supply in Bob’s hands, but yeesh. Anyway from here on episode by episode.
Breaker/Breaker:
Yeah, the plots for this one and Factory Tour were spoiled by IMDB. Still, nice to see how they played out. I like to see Everette getting super serious about his dad. This does lead to the lead to the standard-issue with shapeshifters becoming, vehicles, though. Um, you do realize you’re riding inside someone's body, right?
Also, since when do people get seasonal allergies for a day or two at most? Okay, Nougat is a mineral that can be processed into candy. Okay, fine. But, now it’s also a crystal that can reflect sunlight and make a rainbow? Look, can we just pick a method of making science cry and stick to it, please?
Factory Tour:
Yeah, IMDB spoiled Oona as the dragon, but it was still nice to see her in action. It was also nice seeing Wren get a taste of humble pie. Hmm, you know Ren, maybe the hundred plus-year-old monster hunter who can become a dragon doesn’t need your help? Just a thought.
Stuck in the Middle with Toots:
Sigh, yeah I know Wren had to learn not to put too much faith in idols. But, I was really pulling for Rudy to be a decent person, here. It’s not to see Wren give someone the benefit of the doubt, even though it came back to bite her in the end.
Scout’s Honour:
What...was this? We see Reynold’s role as secret-keeper wear on him and Norm cover for him, okay, that’s fine. But, Reynold retreats to the history wing of the factory again? I thought we covered this, already. Plus Scout just comes out of nowhere. And we’re stuck with a cliche plot about someone making a friend, only to have the friend betray them the first time an opportunity comes along. Scout’s design was nice though, gave me an old school Real Monsters! vibe with the foot hands.
But, am I the only one thinking Reynold dumping her on an island was massively out of character for him? Okay, yeah desperation moment, but still. Though the woman’s reaction to Reynold and Scout in the bathroom was priceless. Also, good call going with healthy snacks, Reynold. Especially since everyone’s been binging on nougat for the whole show.
Schmooz Cruise:
Okay, I’ll just say it. I thought this was going to be Lucy’s mom going on a singles cruise and Lucy getting jealous. Turns out it was Everette getting jealous of Benji. It’s a nice Iron that Everette, who is the tallest of the four, is also the most prone to act childish. And it’s nice to see him start to grow out of it. Also, I was wondering when that girl was gonna show up, I mean she’s in the opening credits. Hey, Lucy gets in on the crossplay with Wren. And she makes a fine pirate, though it looks like the Gorton’s Fisherman has let himself go a bit. :) And is it me, or is Reynold having far to much fun with that merman costume.
Perfect Vision:
I had no idea what to expect with this one going on. Nice to see the kids getting creative with the costumes to campaign for Oona. But, then we go into another cliche plot, this time someone having a vision and becoming paranoid about it. Someone should have told Lucy you can’t force fate.
A couple quick points. We got a tease of Lucy’s mom being a monster. And it’s nice to see that Lucy would be cool with it. Though we get some foreshadowing with Ren’s attitude. And did Lucy not catch Wren threatening her mom, or is Lucy just used to Wren? How the heck does an ice cream give itself brain freeze? And Wren plays up the stereotype that geese are evil. Also nice to see those two monsters again. They seem to be a bit of a couple, which is an unexpected bit of character growth.
Dragon’s and Dry-cleaners:
Once again, Wren’s recklessness comes to bite her. And we finally get Oona’s personality as a jaded loner who doesn’t think she needs anybody. I really thought Wren was going to learn a lesson here, but no. That was saved for later on. Still, cool fight scene.
In the mouth of Badness:
Buckle up, kids, here we go. The rest of the episodes are a straight shot to the finale. They almost pull a 24 here. It’s such a shame that it had to start on a sunch a mediocre note. I mean seriously, an eating contest? It was basically an excuse to resolve Scout’s plot, but at least it’s nice to see that Bob can be too arrogant for his own good. But, the main fight, inside of Bob’s mouth? I mean just why? That was some major cringe material, especially for people who are allergic to bee stings.
Deal With It:
And this gets real, quick Nice touch calling back to the Fun Room. I knew Ren using the doggy door would bite her eventually. It’s nice to see Norm step up and get active, though he’s not really good at it, or making deals to help people.
And the secret is blown, in the worst, way possible. I honestly wonder what Reynold was thinking in that moment. Not hard to know what Wren was thinking. But, it’s nice to see that Everette and Lucy were willing to be reasonable. And really nice to see Norm get some action. Speaking of action...
Sibling Showdown:
I felt fairly cathartic when I read the title of this one. I knew Wren’s bossy, aggressive, attitude would push Reynold too far at some point. And it’s nice to see Reynold actually hold his own, here. He may not be all that good with the physical stuff, he’s been living with Wren his whole life, he knows what buttons to push. Sadly, I thought the two would hug it out here. I should have known Wren could never let something go so easy.
What about Norm?:
But, it did lead to this nice episode. Wren starts off in practically a berserker rage. I love that that had to dump her in the fun room just to get her to listen. So now we get Norm’s backstory. It’s nice seeing the original four kids, again. But, really, Oona’s the only one we get to see out of costume? I know budget limits and all, but would it have killed you to at least give us a glimpse of the other three? Man, Norm had a harsh life. And if people didn’t hate Bob before, they do now. Also only Oona gets pissed at Norm, the other three see angry Oona and just nope out of the whole thing. Honestly, both Wren and Oona give me a bit of a Lucy vibe. I just wonder if that was intentional. And Lucy finally realizes how dumb she was being. It’s nice to see them make up and also nice to see Wren’s tantrum come back to bite her. “Uh, where’s Reynold?” “Oh, crap.”
O Grubbin, Where Art Though:
Not that Reynold needed any help. I admit I thought Lucy would use her Edit form to start a grubbin uprising, but no, leave it to Reynold to think his way out of a problem. The two monsters Lucy made friends with are back and Oona finally starts to thaw a bit. Nice to see Rudy get a big damned heroes moment, even if it did get him grubbinized. And it’s especially nice to see Reynold throw Bob’s arrogance back in his face. But, this is only the wind-up to the final act...
All Hallow’s Eve:
Hoo boy, did they pull out all the stops? Wren learned that you shouldn’t put your faith in idols, but she also learns that sometimes people can surprise you. And the kids left their best battle costumes home. Hey, at least this way it gives them time to spend a few moments with their parents and Oona and Norm a chance to settle things. I pretty much knew Oona was going to be the friend Norm lost. But it’s still touching to realize that Oona never forgot Norm, even if she never forgave him.
Okay, brief quality time moments. Wren and Reynold carving a pumpkin together. Wren could never quite spit out an I’m sorry, but in the end she didn’t need to. Reynold gets her. Also nice to see the mom warning about no fighting and the twins looking very sheepish. If she only knew.
Nice to see that Everette has gotten over Benji’s girlfriend. And it also shows that Benji hasn’t grown up too much, while Everette has grown up just enough. I Wonder if that Masked Rider costume is going lead into anything?
And now my favorite moment of the whole episode, maybe the whole series. Lucy and her mom sit down and hash things out. And Lucy reveals all. The mom just thinks she’s playing pretend of course, right up until Lucy turns into Edit. Yeah, there’s no real arguing with that. Also, Lucy just turned into a monster and told her mom she and her friends are going to battle monsters for the fate of the entire world and the mom’s immediate response is, you know it’s getting chilly out, maybe take a jacket? It’s not as bad as it seems. The mom just had a traffic jam in her head at that moment and that happened to be the first thing that worked itself loose. I just wish we could have seen the talk they had later.
And factory Brawl! In this corner, four kids, an old woman with magic costumes and a friendly monster with a lot of determination. And in this corner, a factory load of monsters with an unlimited supply of power-ups. Even though it was obvious this wouldn’t go anywhere, it was still cool as hell.
Also, stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself! That gag will never get old. It looks like Oona was doing a little prep work. And Norm finally gets to follow in father’s footsteps with the portal juice.  Also, wren taking a page from Reynold’s book and using her head, nice touch.
And Rudy pulls a double, shutting off his own movie premier and rallying the kids to the amusement park. Of course, Wren points out they don’t have a bunch of magic costumes for them. But, then Lucy remembers Mr. Elephant. Now, I thought they would go giant robot, here. But, they did one much better. Turning the park rides into king-kong sized versions of the original costumes, much cooler. Is it me, or did Bob kinda go down like a chump a little bit? He got in a little defense, but not a whole lot of offense. Still, it was the culmination of the kids working together and Bob’s arrogance getting the better of him. Anyone else think the portals weren’t open for very long? How are they supposed to organize an invasion when they have access to their reinforcements for an hour tops?
And a new day dawns. Nice to see everybody getting on with life. Oona and Norm in the factory, the kids commenting on the cool monster fight. And Rudy and the other two Grubbins are still around. Can that blonde kid ever catch a break?
Wow, this was epic But, there’s something I’ve got to wonder. Lucy told her mom the truth and proved it. A theater full of kids and at least one teenager participated in a giant monster fight. And pretty much half the town saw four park rides get up and beat down a giant monster. So, is the lid off at this point? I mean it’s going to take some CIA level covering up to put this genie back in the bottle. Also, are Wren, Reynold, Everette, and Benji going to have conversations of their own with their parents?
Well, that’s all for now. Looking forward to Heroes on Holiday next month. Now I know it’s a Christmas special, which are usually standalone stories because networks usually play them at holiday time instead of the regular rotation.
But, this is Amazon Prime and that rule doesn’t apply anymore. It could be a standalone story, or it could follow up on All Hallow’s Eve. And this a possibility it could do more.
Now, I know that this is a totally different continuity from the games, but still my mind goes to three words. Grubbins on Ice. An expansion of the first game that is set at Christmas time and sees the kids dragged to Repugia. I don’t know if Costume Quest has earned a second season, or not. But, it makes you think. It’s awfully convenient they picked a Christmas special. Anyway, if there is a season two I just hope we don’t have to sit around and wait seven months for the second half. That did not work, at all!

Wherein I Ramble About Luci
It’s a few hours before Disenchantment season two drops, so I better hurry up if I want to post some very-late season one meta.
Aside from the three-part finale, I think that “Swamp and Circumstance” is probably the best episode of season one, in part because it’s where the characters show the ideal versions of themselves. Bean proves to be legitimately good at something; Zog demonstrates that he really cares about her; Elfo, by reading the guidebook, makes himself useful in a way that also reinforces his dorkiness; and Oona and Derek actually have lines, which should have happened more often given that the family’s drama was so important to the season’s big climax.
There’s one exception to this, as I’ve mentioned once before: Luci. He’s basically the same as he was in every previous episode, by which I mean that he ruins everything for Bean without feeling any sort of remorse.
Luci seems to be most people’s favorite character, as far as I can tell. I get it, because he has the snarkiest lines, but he’s actually hard to like if you look at things objectively. A lot of people compare him to Bender, but one of Bender’s defining traits is his legitimate love for Fry, which makes him vulnerable to the point of co-dependency. Luci doesn’t really have that.
“Swamp and Circumstance” shows how weird his relationship with Bean is. Bean is really desperate to prove herself, she’s buckling down and making the responsible decision to not get drunk, and he ruins it by spiking her drink. This destroys all of her hard work, but weirdly enough, the only person to call Luci out is Elfo. Bean seems completely indifferent to Luci screwing her over.
I get that ruining Bean’s life is literally his job, but if the show is supposed to be about Bean finding happiness and fulfillment in Dreamland, then Luci isn’t one of our good guys. He’s one of the show’s villains, but the show didn’t bother giving him a redemption arc, it just presents him as one of the heroes without noticing the inherent contradiction. Yeah, he’s a good drinking buddy, but shouldn’t this incident have showed Bean that he’s not someone that she can actually trust?
(Related to this, I also want to briefly talk about “The Princess of Darkness.” Big Jo takes Luci away, and Bean is determined to get him back because...her only other option is to do boring things with Elfo? Never mind that she had no problem getting drunk by herself before she met these two, or that Elfo seems to have no problem going to the bar with her throughout the show. I know this episode also has Luci save Bean’s life, but she never brings this up as a reason to save him. Overall that detail feels very tacked on, like the writers added it when they suddenly realized that, 2.5 episodes in, Luci hadn’t actually done anything to earn Bean or Elfo’s loyalty.)
Honestly, of the three main characters, Luci is the one who has had the least development; by season’s end we don’t even know exactly how he fits into the villains’ plans, and as far as we know he doesn’t even know or care about that. There’s no episode that focuses on him getting character development. He does seem nicer and more invested in Bean’s well-being in the last two episodes, which kind of comes out of nowhere; I guess the idea is that Elfo’s death affected him, but so much is going on by then that the show doesn’t have time to explore that angle.
Actually, “Swamp and Circumstance” would have been a good time to start his character development. Imagine that Bean is sincerely mad and hurt that Luci ruined the banquet, just as she was proving to everyone that she could be more than a useless drunk. Imagine if Luci, to his own surprise, actually feels bad about this, realizing that he now sees Bean and Elfo as friends. It could have been an ideal turning point between his earlier desire to ruin Bean’s life and his later decision to warn the family about Dagmar’s treachery.
tl;dr: The writers used Luci’s dry wit as a substitute for any really likable or thoughtful characterization, and I’m hoping that season two will improve on that.

OK i just finished part 2 of disenchantment so heres some brief thoughts on it!:
-the backgrounds this part are AMAZING, the amount of detail that went into those big shots is just wonderful and they have such a nice feel. steamland was especially fantastic to look at. big props to the artists!!
-i didn’t like this part quite as much as the first one, it feels like there are some incongruous storylines happening and I think it worked a bit better when the episodes were more self-contained. the main story seems to fade in, get forgotten for a while, then come back at random points. which isn’t a big deal for me because i’m not really into the big story with shows like this, just the characters, but it’s definitely something you notice
-also i didn’t find this part as FUNNY as the first one (i still laugh when i think of elfo’s little corpse rolling down that hill) but it’s still entertaining
-the episode where zog has a girlfriend who is a selkie bear is relationship goals. i loved ursula so much and they were very cute together (until he was a jerk lol)
-the electric princess is just a great episode in general. the backgrounds and zany worldbuilding were so awesome, i’d love to see a matt groening show set entirely in a world like that
-i wanted to see elfo’s giantess “girlfriend” come back, that episode was one of the best in part 1. i can’t remember her name but she ruled. also we need more Bunty and more scenes with Sorcerio + Odval together
-elfo and luci as ROOMMATES is unexpected but very welcome. they make a really fun duo. more elfo+bean+luci shenanigans are always good
-i watched most of these with my friend and we LOVED jerry ;_;
-also, oona is living her best life and i love her

Tagged by @kingofthewilderwest! ahhh, thank you, this is gonna be fun! Aside from the fact that picking a favorite character is like picking a favorite child in some cases and it makes me feel like I abandoned my other babies.
Rules: List 10 favorite characters from 10 different fandoms and tag some people.
Soos Ramirez (Gravity Falls)
[honorable mentions: Mabel, Dipper, Stan, and Ford- seriously I love all four of them equally and passionately and I have to pick Soos because picking only one twin feels like a betrayal when I love them all so much]
Tumblr media
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III (How to Train Your Dragon)
[honorable mentions: Ruffnut, Stoick, and Meatlug]
Tumblr media
Fishlegs No-Name (How to Train Your Dragon, books)
[honorable mentions: Hiccup, Camicazi, Toothless, Wodensfang, Norbert the Nutjob]
Tumblr media
Tenya Iida (Boku No Hero Academia)
[honorable mentions: waaay too many, but Uraraka, Todoroki, Yaoyorozu, All Might, Mirio, Aizawa, Tsuyu, Fatgum, Kirishima, Eri, Midoriya, and Inko are all up there]
Tumblr media
Reynard Muldoon (Mysterious Benedict Society)
[honorable mentions: Kate, Sticky, Constance, Mr. Benedict, Milligan, Rhonda, Number Two, S.Q.)
Tumblr media
Agent Oona (Odd Squad)
[honorable mentions: Oscar, Olive, Otto]
Tumblr media
Alphonse Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)
[honorable mentions: Hughes, Ed, Winry, Riza, Alex Louis Armstrong]
Tumblr media
Yui Hirasawa (K-On)
[honorable mentions: Mugi, Mio, Ritsu- honestly I like the whole main cast pretty equally]
Tumblr media
Ant-Man/Scott Lang (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
[honorable mentions: Nebula, Mantis, Okoye, T’Challa, Agent Hill, Thor]
Tumblr media
Edmund Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia, books)
[honorable mentions: Lucy, Aslan, Puddleglum]
Tumblr media
The hardest part of this was thinking of ten different fandoms. I could’ve listed a whole bunch of characters from Disney/Pixar/individual movies, but then there’d be too many and we’d be here all day. I’m not that emotionally invested in Marvel, but I’ve invested too much time in it not to list it. XD I’m not actively into Odd Squad anymore, but it was my first real fandom and it’s still funny and the characters are still great and it has a special place in my heart.
Looking over this list, I don’t think I have as much of a “type” as some people do. But I definitely have a thing for analytical boys, nerd boys, good boys, sassy British children, and unabashedly weird girls. XD
Let’s see, I’ll tag @thepotatoreader, @trixytheunicorn, @artsy-dreamer, @nightfury-2001, @deepfathom, @fluffyrainbowbutterfly, and @extract0fllama, if y’all feel like doing this would be fun.
