When Emira and Connie were sat at their table, she flashed her best friend a smile. "I'm so glad we're doing this tonight. We've needed a bestie catch up session so I'm here for it all," she chuckled before taking a look at the red wine list first before food. "I haven't been here in so long. Would you want to split a bottle of wine?"

"Oh, come on, babe. Why would she regret taking you on?" Emira asked with raised brows, getting fed up with her negativity. "Why are you talking about regret when she's the one that loves you for you? You are deserving of this new and exciting love, Con and Imani is deserving of it, too," she told her, hoping that she would listen. "All of this uncertainty is scary, but the negativity you're carrying around with it is worse. Just take it day by day. You don't need to put all of this unnecessary pressure on yourself or the two of you." Of course Emira was saying this out of love for Connie and she sure wasn't going to sugarcoat it.

"I guess..." Connie shrugs, raking a lock of hair back from her face. This was all equally exciting as it was new and uncertain. She didn't want to mess things up for them, but at the same time she didn't know how to be a good girlfriend. At least not the standard she wanted to be. "I don't want her to regret taking me on. Like, I'm not the easiest to be around."

Emira had just walked away from Axel when she saw Connie approaching and she grinned at her as they linked arms. "You look fucking fantastic! We both do," she said confidently with a smirk before leading them to the dancefloor. "We'll have everyone staring in just a matter of minutes," she said with a chuckle. "I've missed you and I'm so glad you're here."

connie put a lot of effort into her outfit tonight, and honestly, she felt like sex on legs. and it was nice to feel this good for the first time in ages as she'd been feeling frazzled from work. stepping into the room, she catches a familiar face, which she promptly linked her arm with. "hey girl." she gives the woman's elbow a squeeze, "i feel fucking fantastic and i want to watch people realise it, let's dance."

"Rocky Horror is amazing," Emira said, noting to herself that she needed to watch it again soon. "I have a few ideas in mind but I haven't set on anything yet. What did you decide on?" She asked, looking over at her close friend with a smile as they walked arm in arm down the street. Looking forward after a moment, she saw Tejas in the distance. "Want to get tacos and margaritas? Or are we in a more of a wine mood?"

"i considered magneta." connie explains, linked armed with her friend as they headed down the busy street in search for lunch, "rocky horror is a top 5 musical and i won't take arguments on that." she didn't take arguments in general, so what's new? "but i decided on another costume."

Watching her best friend anxiously and nervously picking at the tops of her own nails, Emira reached over to rest her hand on top of hers for her to stop. "I think you're putting too much pressure on yourself here, Connie," she said softly. "Yes, this is your first relationship with a woman, yes, you've told her that you loved her even when you didn't feel as if it was the right time...this is all very new. All you two need to do is take this day by day," she told her, hoping that her words would help. "But, if you need to scream, throw things, punch some walls...we can do that, too." @connievanderbilt

Connie can't understand why Emira was smiling at her, as if saying I love you wasn't as high stakes as it seemed. Her brows furrow momentarily, leaning back in her stool and nervously picking at the top of her nails. "It's my first relationship ever. Will doesn't count." A forced marriage where the pair weren't actually in love or physically dating shouldn't be considered, "I slept around with guys, I've never dived in this far with someone — let alone a woman."

When listening to Connie's words, Emira couldn't help but smile a little bit and she shook her head after she was speaking. "Don't feel awful, freezing is completely normal, especially more so when this is your first ever serious relationship," she told her softly. "Like you already said, you adore her and you can't imagine life your life without her, focus on that instead of the fear and guilt that wants to eat you up." Easier said than done, of course. "It's easy to overthink everything when you're feeling all of these feelings in a serious relationship. Believe me, I've been on both ends of saying 'I love you'." @connievanderbilt

Connie groans, head dropping momentarily. "Imani told me she loved me." Racking back her hair with spayed fingers, the lawyer sighs. "I adore her so much, I couldn't imagine her not being in my life. But when she said it, I just froze." This was Connie's first proper relationship, and first serious relationship (Will wasn't included there), she'd be forgiven for being scared... But there was still a sense of shame she couldn't quite shake. "I said it back... but mostly out of fear and guilt. I don't.... know what love feels like, I haven't had anything to compare it to." Connie pauses, looking back up to Emira. "I knew she'd be upset if I didn't say it back. I just feel... awful."

Emira couldn't help but bite down on the inside of her cheek to Connie's question, her mind immediately going to Axel. "I mean, there's really no perfect timing when it comes to big or small things being said. I guess, as long as it comes from the heart then that's all that matters," she told her, hoping that her words helped and not made her more confused. "Are you and Imani doing alright?" @connievanderbilt

"Have you ever said anything really big to a person that you can't take back." Connie furrows her brows at her own words, "Well — something you don't exactly want to take back per se... But rather of waited till you were ready to say it?" The lawyer rests her palms on the marble counter in front of her.

"There's definitely a bit more pizazz to this place," Emira said chuckling as she looked around a bit more before watching Connie opening the bottle of champagne. She moved herself so she could lean against her kitchen island and tilted her head slightly to her friends words. "Yeah? What's that? You're not thinking of dying your hair again, are you?" She asked more teasingly. @connievanderbilt

"Thanks. A lot of it's Imani's influence, I don't think this place had much personality until she moved in." After pulling a hand towel of the draw, she wraps the fabric around the cork of the bottle. Aiming it away from her, she proceeds to gradually pop the bottle, the sound echoing throughout the kitchen. "I'm glad your here, actually." A hand reaches to grab a champaign flute by the neck for Emira, "I need to get your advice on something."

Emira almost beamed when Connie said that she brought some of the better wine from the cellar. "Oh, that's perfect! We definitely can't let the good stuff go to waste," she told her with a chuckle as she helped her bring things inside. "Your place looks great by the way," she said, looking around as they walked to the kitchen. "I also can't wait to catch up on everything with you." @connievanderbilt

"That sounds good." Connie hadn't really introduced Imani to anyone, really. It wasn't intentional, they lived in a small town, most people already knew of each other anyway. Plus she'd been so focused on just spending time Imani the idea had completely slipped away from her. "I brought some of the good stuff from the cellar. Figured it might as well get used."

"Looking gorgeous as always," Emira complimented her friend as they hugged, happy to see her more relaxed. She frowned to her words, only for a second though as she was looking forward to some quality time with Connie. She did really want to meet Imani soon though as she knew how important she was to her. "Oh, damn... That's okay though, we'll plan a dinner all together sometime soon," she said smiling. "Do you need help bringing anything in? I can get some wine open for us if you'd like." @connievanderbilt

"hey babe." connie settles her bag on the top of her jeep, before reaching out to hug her friend. with the periodic absence of her father in town, suddenly connie was free to step out of her house without looking over her shoulder constantly. but the ever present knowledge her fathers silence meant preparation for the next blow to her career, it dangled like a sharp knife dangling over her head with precarious string. "she's working tonight, but i'm trying to find a night for you two to meet."

Emira sent the text with a grin before she got in her car and made her way over to Connie's place. It didn't take her long to get there so she made her way up to the front door and knocked. Once the door opened, she grinned at her best friend and wrapped her arms around her. "Hey babes! I hope I'm not here too early," she said with a chuckle, giving her a light squeeze before pulling away and walking inside. "How's it going? Is Imani coming tonight?" She asked, hopeful to officially meet this wonderful woman Connie has been seeing. @connievanderbilt
