For the fic title ask game

hi! sorry this took even longer than i said it would, i was exhausted yesterday, but! i'm here now!

i had a bit off a difficult time with this, unsure what way i want to go, but my first thought was a post-finale fic. not quite an angsty one (well, not really), but one that addresses a good chunk of what was never said and all that came after 5.13. it would either be focused on merlin and gwen - growing closer again, learning more about each other than ever before, relying on each other, the intricacies of their new relationship with all the information they now have, the good and the bad times (gwen and her role as queen, merlin and all his secrets, as well as merlin's lost role as the protector of arthur growing into something else) - and arthur would eventually (perhaps) return OR it would be a fic where arthur either survives or comes back quite early on, which then the fic would involve multiple different relationships and how to navigate them. all in all, i think i'd want to explore how certain events, finding out about them, would impact different characters and how the changes of morgana dying, Arthur dying/coming back could be addressed. especially, for example, giving merlin the time to settle and recognise all he's been through, all he's done and how he's changed. the fic could even be focused solely on him, a story of finally looking in the mirror and no longer chasing ticking clocks. i'd write about growing pains that come too late, ones that should've been there (and sometimes were) coming back tenfold and how everyone around him would be swept along on that journey too - rage, betrayal, sadness, understanding and kindness all included.
