Cat’s Updated Episode Ranking as of S4

I want you all to know that last time I did this, I titled the word doc “why did I do this” and I titled this one “why did I do this again.” 106 episodes, you guys. 106. Don’t ever ask me for anything ever again XD We didn’t give number ratings this time because I didn’t feel like braining that shit tonight, but I feel like this ranking is more accurate than the first and not just because it includes all of s4 this time. I re-evaluated my old one and moved some things around. I feel better about this one.

As always, these are just my personal opinions, and if you don’t like them, MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN LIST

1. Origins II

In looking back at my original ranking, a lot of episodes moved, but this one is still and I think always will be king. This was the last episode of s1 that I watched originally, and it is the one that has left the longest lasting impression. The rest of the episode is fine. It’s a good set up, but anyone who has followed me for like two days knows that I am a S I M P for the umbrella scene. In the Rain is literally on my spotify playlist. I listen to it in the car and get in my feelings. I was already on board with these two dorks, but that moment was when I went yep. We’re in it now. We’re gonna see these two nerds kiss if it’s the last thing we ever see.

2. Riposte

As I mentioned, some episodes moved around when I went back to evaluate my original list, and I just really like Riposte. Kagami is such a compelling character. I have loved seeing her development over time. The Ladrien in this episode was just *chefs kiss* Adrien jumping in to save LB, “maybe he’s busy,” the coffin thing, the soft little way she kisses the coffin, the awkwardness at the end where Adrien is like I desperately want to say something- ANYTHING to you because I want to spend as much time with you as possible, the little kiss he blows at the end. I’m fucking whipped for this episode.

3. Gorizilla

Okay, I feel like Riposte is a bit stronger overall, but Gorizilla still makes me absolutely feral. Don’t get me wrong, Adrinette is my favorite side, and I love loved the Adrinette here, but the motherfucking Ladrien trust fall, and the absolute awe that Adrien looks at LB with when she catches him and just the softness when they land on the ground for that split moment of “holy shit I almost died, but you’re so amazing and beautiful and I love you so much wow” just I am soft, you guys.

4. Mr. Pigeon 72

If any of you have paid attention to anything I’ve ever said or written ever, this one being this high shouldn’t be a shock to you. It’s the umbrella scene 2.0 first of all, and don’t get me wrong I love that for us, but the Marinette and Kagami friendship this episode. Marinette just leaping onto Kagami, bribing her mom with bread and just stealing her, and Kagami being so stone faced the whole episode but just letting her wacky friend drag her along on an adventure even when she’s not listening. When Adrien BONKS HIS LITTLE HEAD. Plagg helping with the akuma! The sheer absurdity of Mr. Pigeon being akumatized 72 TIMES! Yall, we really lived in this episode.

5. Simon Says

Is anyone surprised that all the pivotal Adrinette/Ladrien episodes are the ones I love the most? I originally ranked Simon Says higher for nostalgia’s sake, and it is still a very solid episode for being the OG Ladrien episode and giving us the ever iconic shower scene. Legit one day my niece was watching this episode in another room and I came out of the woodworks like a fucking cockroach and was like L a d r i e n???? Plus, Gabe almost played himself. Doesn’t get much better than this, folks. I watched this episode and said, yes ma’am, I’ll have one of those about Ladrien. We’ve been fighting the antis ever since.

6. Stormy Weather

I originally ranked this one higher because it was baby’s first Miraculous episode, and this one is still super solid, but I have since come to appreciate other episodes more. Don’t get me wrong, I still adore this episode. The animation was crisp, it gave us a good intro to the characters, their relationships and dynamics, the world, the set up. Stormy Weather is a cool villain with a cool design. Just all around a good time to be had by all.

7. Evillustrator

I feel like this episode might have surprised people in my original ranking because of my general feelings toward MC and MC stans, but like I honestly started out in s1 liking MC the most. I thought Evillustrator was funny. I loved their “introduction” to one another. I loved the sass, the pretending, the eye rolling. I like this episode. I like MC (in canon). It’s the fandom that has always been my issue with MC. Just not a lot of good takes floating around about it. But Evillustrator is good.

8. Backwarder

So, I was chatting with Gale about this list after I did it, and I sent him my top and bottom 10 and he was most surprised by this episode. But then he remembered: I’m a Fu stan. Honestly, how he is controversial in this fandom is still beyond me, but like I really liked Fu as a character. He and Marinette had such a sweet dynamic, and this episode just brought so much more to his character. Ever since he was introduced and revealed to be super old and the last remaining guardian, there was such an air of intrigue around him. We will talk about how they botched his plot line later, but I loved getting a peep into his life here and getting to meet the girl he fell in love with and seeing that she’s a fucking badass. I enjoyed her power and the lucky charm use of this episode was one of Ladybug’s best, imo. I loved this episode. Sue me.

9. Strike Back

I didn’t love this episode as much as Gale, but I will still agree that it is the strongest finale we’ve had so far. I plan to give my overall impressions of s4 later, but I will say that this finale made everything in s4 worth it. I think a lot of us were very worried going into this finale, but to me, the finale ebbed a lot of my fears for s5. Hawkmoth having all the Miraculous is just not a threat because we know Gabe is incompetent. I mean, it took a 14 year old literally doing all of the work for him and handing him victory for him to get anywhere. The mans is absolutely gonna get his shit kicked in in s5, and I’m here for it. I’ll talk more in depth about this finale in my s4 analysis eventually, but I liked it. It was good, and is the strongest finale we’ve had to date.

10. Kwamibuster

I’m a Marinette stan. What else can I say?

11. Chat Blanc

I know this one is generally the fandom’s favorite, and I do like CB. I think what I tend to look for in my favorite episodes are those moments that really grab me. This episode is interesting from a meta standpoint when you start looking at the deeper implications of it, but a lot of my enjoyment of this show can be summed up with “heheh bug girl like cat boy.” I mean, my top 5 episodes are literally all the most shippy episodes. I know what I’m about. Chat Blanc is a good episode. I will never deny that. Please, put down your pitchforks because it didn’t crack the top 10.

12. Gang of Secrets

I originally ranked this one higher, I think because of how it initially shocked me. I was so jaded going into s4, and this episode was a breath of fresh air. I mean, them breaking up the rivals immediately at the start of the season was funny to me, but this episode really had the impact I’d been looking for. Alya learning her identity was a game changer in a way the rivals never could have been. We knew from the start that the rivals were destined to fail, but what we didn’t know was if anyone would ever learn their true identities, especially before they did. I said it before, but GoS was the episode that made me say, “Damn, is Miraculous good again?”

13. Despair Bear

Listen, does this episode rank this high because of the Adrinette slow dance? Don’t @ me, we all know the answer. BUT I still like this episode, even retroactively knowing where Chloe ends up. Chloe’s arc being scrapped or botched or whatever you want to think/say/feel about it is another conversation, but overall, this episode was fun for more reasons than one… but ya know. It was mostly for the Adrinette slow dance…

14. Oblivio

This one shockingly moved down for me from my original list. And like, not to say I don’t like this episode, I do. It’s ranked 14/106 for crying out loud, but I dunno. I like the implication that they will always find each other and fall in love no matter the circumstance, but all of their sweet moments get erased in the end, so they don’t remember. We remember, but I want them to remember. Ya feel me?

15. Furious Fu

Fu stan. That’s it. That’s the tweet. This episode was controversial for a number of reasons, but idc. As angry as I am about what they did to Fu, I can’t lie and say I’m not happy to see him happy and thriving with Marianne. Fu is out here getting the rest he deserves and living his best life. Can’t be mad.

16. Kuro Neko

This episode conflicts me. Like on one hand I like it a lot, and I objectively view it as better than the episodes that follow it, but overall I’m not as obsessed with it as the rest of the fandom. Cat Walker is fine, and this episode gave us an interesting look into Adrien and the way he approaches everything and gives us a good dive into his relationship with Plagg, but I think this episode is soured a bit by the overarching LadyNoir drama this season. It’s bittersweet. But objectively, with the function that this episode serves, I couldn’t rank it lower than this. Plus I totally called the ending.

17. Gabriel Agreste

This episode is 100% ranked this high because Felix is the most competent bitch in this whole show. I know everyone is all on their sides about Felix. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? (personally I say neither, but that’s a convo for another day). But like Felix really was that bitch this episode. This episode really saved him for me, I think. I was originally meh about him, but he just really has his own agenda and wanted to fuck up his uncle, and we gotta respect that.

18. Startrain

Cat, is this one ranked so high because of the Adrine- YES, IT’S RANKED THIS HIGH BECAUSE OF THE ADRINETTE. I am a weak bitch who falls for every carrot this show dangles! Let me enjoy them in peace. But that being said, I also did like that Lila gets thwarted in this episode, Alya and Nino investigate like heroes, and Max and his mom are precious and I sincerely miss when canon gave focus to the new heroes of the episodes instead of cramming them all into one.

19. Ephemeral

Gale and I had a lengthy discussion about this one. I’ll let him voice his own comments on it, but for me, this episode was fine. I feel like of the two “reveal” episodes, Chat Blanc was better, but I was telling Gale that I see the fake reveal episodes as a kind of check point for the love square. It gives us a way of checking up on them and seeing “if the reveal happened now, what would our kids do?” Things were a lot peachier in Chat Blanc because they had less on their plates. Ephemeral was an interesting look into the love square dynamic of s4. Granted, the reveals themselves are different too between the two episodes, but it’s an interesting look at the characters and how they view each other. Marinette being Ladybug isn’t a real stretch of the imagination for Adrien because he thinks very highly of both. Ladybug, on the other hand, thinks Adrien and Chat Noir are two very separate people. She tries very hard to keep them separate in her mind, so when she finds out that the boy she is madly in love with is actually her very dorky partner that she has put a lot of mental effort into not being in love with, she needs a minute. And that’s not to say she views Chat poorly, but just that she would not have pegged him to be Adrien. It’s overall, an interesting take as well on the main conflict between them the whole season: Marinette’s mental block. The whole season she spends pushing him away, lying, trying to scrape her shit together herself, and that’s not shade at her by any means, but just a journey she needed to go on to grow. I dunno. I’ll talk more about all of it later, but this episode was interesting enough to me that I can overlook its flaws.

20. Sandboy

This episode was chaotic, and I absolutely love Sandboy’s aesthetic. The possibilities here are endless. It was just fun.

21. Origins I

This episode probably took the biggest hit in my re-eval, and that’s not because it’s a bad episode, but I think I ranked it far higher than I truly felt originally. I love Origins II and will die for the umbrella scene. Origins I was also good, but the umbrella scene is what really tipped II over the edge. Origins I did a good job for what it was, and I liked that the heroes were not immediately successful. But overall, this episode was just setting up for Origins II, and a lot of other episodes out rank it now for me.

22. Gamer

People salt on Gamer, but I had a good time. There’s a lot to like about it, yall are just mean XD

23. NY Special

Again, I had a good time. I watched this originally in Disney World, so that may have colored my opinion, but like it was fun. Good moments, cool concepts. The Adrinette was absolutely chefs kiss. We thought they were gonna hurt us with the Adrinette in s4, but really it was the LadyNoir. They did a heckin uno reverse.

24. Risk

I liked Risk. It didn’t give the same punch as Strike Back, but as a set up episode for Strike Back, it was solid. I love the Adrinette moment and hope that continues in s5. I’d love to see Adrien leaning more on Marinette and deepening their friendship leading into a reveal. And that 100% is because I am a selfish Adrinette simp. We’ve been over this.

25. Glaciator 2

If Adrien doesn’t tease Marinette in the future for calling him Buttercup this episode will have been for nothing. Jk, but it was pretty cute. I liked it more than the original Glaciator, and I love that it spat in the faces of all of the true selves people. Just directly into their mouths. I enjoyed that very much.

26. The Collector

This one moved down a lot too, but it’s another one that I think I gave too much credit originally. It’s a good episode, don’t get me wrong. It started s2 off strong. I liked it. Back when we had hopes and dreams. We were so young.

27. Sapotis

Sapotis was a solid ep. And it’s better in retrospect after GoS because Alya did in fact help Ladybug after finding out her identity.

28. Psychomedian

I find it hilarious that the ambassadors and writers were all like ehh this episode is just okay. The others are better. And then it aired and everyone in the fandom was like YEEHAW. I love that about us. We were so torn up about the LadyNoir drama going on, so the one little taste of normalcy we got we ate up like hungry badgers. Honestly, this episode airing as late as it did was probably for the best. We needed it. I also love that no one makes Adrien laugh like Marinette Dupain-Cheng. And that Gabriel totally fucked Harry Cl-

29. Christmaster

I still think this episode is funny. Just pure comedy. And Ladybug 100% is the best kid in the world. Facts.

30. Weredad

I still think someone on the writing team secretly reads fanfiction. There is no other explanation for this episode.

31. Lady Wifi

The LadyNoir moment at the end where he respects her and doesn’t look. My actual heart D:

32. Dark Cupid

We all know why this one is here

33. Volpina

Back when we thought Lila had potential to be something and that everyone would know she was a liar after this. What fools we were. That being said, the LadyNoir/Ladrien dooooooooooor. Second best season finale after Strike Back.

34. Glaciator

I still cannot believe a whole ass man got akumatized because a girl didn’t want his ice cream. But the MC was nice I guess. And the LadyNoir at the end with the bluuuush

35. Hearthunter

Just all around solid Adrigaminette pure guy and gals being pals. We love to see it.

36. Timetagger

I actually liked Timetagger. He and Bunnix were so sassy together. Also Alix is a real one.

37. Zombizou

People didn’t like this episode, and I still don’t know why they salt on Bustier for this? Like I do, but I don’t. Sure, she should have addressed Chloe’s behavior, but at the same time I get the impression that Bustier is trying to be a positive female role model in Chloe’s life seeing as she doesn’t get that in her mom. Had the writers actually intended to redeem Chloe fully, this episode might be more impactful, but in retrospect it does lose a bit of credibility. But this whole episode was basically every zombie apocalypse movie ever made, so it was actually kinda funny to me. All the Bustier salters need to touch grass.

38. Shanghai

I enjoyed this special. Yeah, it was gimmicky, but I like Fei and the boy squad. And the Adrinette was adorable. Adrien was so happy to learn she was in Shanghai too. And Gabriel getting bodied by his own akuma. 10/10.

39. Miraculer

Seeing as they uno reversed Chloe’s development, I actually felt like this episode was well done. If they wanted her to lose faith in her hero, I think they did a good job here. Plus Sabrina finally got a fucking episode to herself.

40. Lies

This one actually moved up a lot I think from last time. Or maybe Truth just moved down. Either way. I feel like the Adrigami ship was overall better handled as a whole this entire time. They had more believable chemistry. Kagami is more rounded, and her reasons for breaking up with him were more justified I think. Plus, Adrien didn’t try to deny her accusations or invalidate her feelings. And Kagami didn’t push Adrien’s boundaries either. She could have asked why he kept running away from her, but she just accepted that maybe he didn’t feel the same way about her as she did about him. Idk. I just feel like their breakup was better rationalized and handled.

41. Hacksan

Listen, I love LB, but I would love to see Scarabella and Chat Noir have their own adventures. Like nothing serious. Maybe Ladybug lets Alya borrow the Ladybug to go on patrols every once in a while when she’s tired or overwhelmed. That’s all I ask. Also all of Marinette’s tips for Alya XD

42. Qilin

I liked this peep into Sabine’s character. I’ve wanted more on her parents for a while, and while Sabine is kind of a caricature of Chinese culture at times, I like that she is so aware of her daughter and seeing how she loves and takes care of her. Also we stan a queen that just wants to do the right thing and who doesn’t have time for bitch ass moth men.

43. Rocketear

This episode ranks this high specifically for Nino and his bubble pipe calling Chat Noir a slut to his face.

44. Mayura

Blah, blah, something something Adrinette cheek kiss. The rest of this episode was just okay.

97. Puppeteer 2.0

I cannot stomach this episode. I am not strong enough. I even forget that there is Ladrien in it sometimes. That’s how much I’ve tried to blot the scene from my memory.

98. Frozer

I feel like this episode made no sense at times. And I know I’m not alone in this. Like everyone this episode was just off.

99. Stormy Weather 2.0

Still didn’t need to exist. Nothing was gained.

100. Wishmaker

Listen… Listen…. Listen. Overall, the premise was okay. My feelings for this episode will greatly depend on how the ending is handled in the future. I’ll reserve some of my comments until then.

101. Queen Wasp

Seriously, why did we give Chloe a Miraculous after this?

102. Animaestro

The fact that I had to watch this episode with my own two eyes is a crime. Like Thomas did not have to stroke his own dick like this. Nothing was even gained from this ep either. Forever skip. Or idk maybe watch the first half.

103. Captain Hardrock

Anyone who has been here a while or seen me talk about Birthdaygate knows why I don’t like this episode.

104. Antibug

I’ve talked about this at length before, but this episode has always irked me. Chloe literally lied to Ladybug and stalled their investigation, so of course Ladybug wasn’t going to trust her immediately after when she decided to tell the truth. I hate that they made Ladybug apologize for “not believing” Chloe because she didn’t deserve to be believed.

105. Miracle Queen

Worst of the season finales. For a number of reasons, but mostly for what they did to my mans Fu. Go live your best life tho, king.

106. Chameleon

This episode has sparked so many Lila salt fics out of me, and while I do think it is in general everyone’s worst episode. Like no one had braincells in this episode. Probably the worst written episode if I had to pick one, but it didn’t fill me with quite as much rage as my worst rated episode.

107. Feast

I feel like I expressed myself pretty well the first time, so I’ll just copy and paste my original rant: Okay, okay, okay, here we are. Bottom of the barrel. Cat’s most hated episode, and you wanna know why? You want to know why this episode fills me with rage? Because we spent two fucking seasons building up all this mystery and lore and intrigue surrounding Fu’s big mistake, and they dropped the fucking ball! They did my mans so dirty! They could have really deepened his character, deepened the Order, deepened anything other than whatever fucking affair Gabriel and Nathalie have going on, but NO. They made it some stupid, bland-ass thing that got resolved magically in the end, then just ignored it for the rest of the season. I will never not be salty about how they did my boy Fu in this show. I’m happy he found his peace, but fuck if I’m not livid about how they did it. Whatever. Chat being done with Ladybug’s shit when they’re about to get eaten was funny I guess.

First impression

She was pretty much a fav at first sight for me. I just enjoyed how funny and relatable she is.

Impression now

Now I wanna protect her from the fandom and people outside of that because they really are doing her dirty. Whether by people who hate her because of her early season actions or misunderstanding her character, or by her so-called “fans” who pretty much use her as an outlet for their salt fantasies. Marinette deserves better than what she gets.

Favorite moment

I don’t have a particular favorite moment with her, so I’ll just say all of them.

Idea for a story

More crossover stuff regarding her that isn’t salt related or just her being a self-insert. Like, give me her teaming up with characters to fight other villains (maybe they can be akumatized as well) or how about them finding other kwamis that exist.

Unpopular opinion

Personally, outside of a personal crackship, I don't really ship Marinette with anyone, not even Adrinette.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Adrinette (or the Love Square in general), it’s a fine ship. But honestly, I don’t really care about the shipping stuff when it comes to the show.

Though another reason I'm not really into the ships is because of the fandom, mostly regarding ships outside of the Love Square. Everytime I encounter those ships they tend to heavily bash the Love Square and use their ships for salt. Whether they're ships that are fine but got twisted into salt ships (Luka//nette or Mari//gami) or just pure sodium pairings (Feli//nette or Damin//ette/Mari//bat). And as someone who doesn't like ship bashing, it really became a major turn-off for me.

Not to say there aren't toxic Love Square shippers, I have encountered them, but I've seen more toxicity from anti-LS people than people who do ship them.

And yeah not all of the non-Love Square shippers are like this, but the salt poisoned the well on them that I can't look at them without being reminded of the salt shippers.

There are a lot of other unpopular opinions I have regarding Marinette but everyone and their grandparents have said it already and better than I could.

Favorite relationship

As much as I don’t ship them, you can’t deny Marinette and Adrien have such good chemistry together. Plus, I enjoy her friendship with Alya and the girl squad.

Favorite headcanon

I’m all for autistic Marinette

I think I just realized a pattern?! S1 - Ladynoir: great dynamic duo, Adrinette: barely even friends S2 - LN: troubled coz Fu is picking favorites, Adrinette: actually friends, finally feels like we're getting somewhere S3 - LN: back to business and foiling the villain duo , Adrinette: Lukanette and Adrigami rise up so they are moving away from each other S4 - LN: trouble coz guardian LB is overwhelmed, Adrinette: getting closer, 'reversing' love square. What does that mean for S5, you think?

Oh anon, you opened a pandora box ahah.

I mean, I'm gonna gloss over all the theories we've been discussing for the past few weeks but for the sake of context, I do agree with the Fandom Consensus: the remaining episodes of S4 will put Adrien and Ladynoir to the test. However, for as fun as all the theorizing has been, I also think that it's really not going to be as doom and gloom as we're making it out to be.

What I'm getting at with this is, while there will certainly be consequences for the decisions Marinette has taken which will impact her relationship with Chat Noir, I don't think they will be long-lasting. Like, I don't think we're arriving at S5 with a Ladynoir that is still soured by the secrets that have been revealed because then that opens the door for Chat Noir to adopt more of an antagonistic or anti-hero role, and I really don't feel like that's what the series has been getting at for the past 3, 4 seasons.

The only thing that I am expecting on the other side of this certified angst shitstorm that we're forecasting for Adrien, is that Ladynoir will be much more business-like and on top of their game. Ironically, this is what Ladybug has always implied that she wanted: Despite loving Chat's humor, she does get irritated when he's distracted. And ironically, once she has what she wanted, she'll realize she lost what she had.

I expect them to still joke around and things like that, but after recovering from the Ladynoir Conflict, I think Chat will be more reserved and will cut back on the flirting, giving the reversal the last push it needs to go into full gear. This of course, does not mean that Marinette will forget her feelings for Adrien, nor Chat for Ladybug because in the end, they're in love with different aspects of the same person's personality, but I do think these feelings won't be at the front of their attention anymore (and I mean, this is kind of already happening in S4 anyway).

The interesting thing about this is that once the reverse ships are going at full speed presumably in S5, I don't think they will act on their feelings quite the same way as they did before. I don't think Adrien would suddenly start pursuing Marinette and handing her flowers and flirting because a) he might think it doesn't work as per his experience with Ladybug and b) he has his public image to watch out for. I also don't think Ladybug would become a hot mess or plot for ways to spend more time with Chat because she also has her guardian duties to think about. They will do it more subtly. Say for example, Adrien in his civilian persona cannot be openly flirty, but he can try to spend more time with Marinette in private and he can act more genuinely around her (re: Kagami's 'I wanna see the real you'). Ladybug similarly cannot indulge in her feelings for Chat, but she can show him how much he means to her using the things she knows makes him feel appreciated: trusting in him, and using words of affirmation.

Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

Logic says the answer is "yes", per the previous reply about what constitutes a NOTP for me. Obnoxious fans can absolutely turn me off a pairing, but rarely a pairing that I was genuinely into before going into the fandom. A lot of the time, it tends to be Some Juggernaut Pairing that I wasn't really interested in and get really fed up with at some point because of the way the fans act.

Like - if the Love Square really existed as separate ships, there is a good chance that I'd have been turned way off marichat within two months. I wasn't really that interested in the dynamic as I first got into the fandom, and the way a lot of the fans act towards particularly adrinette and ladrien is... not endearing. But since the LS fundamentally is what it is and marichat is just another take on the same two idiots, it was at least saved from the fate of being my perpetual source of annoyance and I'll even read fic with it and all! What a win.

No, never.

Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

Not in MLB. For other fandoms, I know there are pairings I used to read fic for but at some point was turned completely off.

Have you received anon hate? What about?

Not on blog. I got one comment on a fic from someone clearly unfamiliar with the concept "don't like don't read", but that was like... one time, and it wasn't even mean, just kind of concern-troll-y.

ok so like -if- im one of those ladrien haters please tell me bc i want to be able to learn to not be- I love all the ships like ofc i do theyre all the same dorks falling in love w eachother lol but i like ladrien the least bc of their stutters and blushes and them being dumb dorks. my brain cannot handle the amount of second hand embarrassment(i know other ships do the same dw lol) I always thought this was fine and your posts have me wondering if i need to change my point of view on things

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again preferences are fine– I’m not sitting over here trying to tell people what to do or that they’re wrong for preferring something over another thing. You can like something, you can not like something and that’s totally up to you.

Now, that being said

There is a very real double standard in this fandom when it comes to ladrien and the amount of hatred/bullshit/fuckery that goes on in and around ladrien discourse and ladrien posts in general. The amount of times I’ve seen and or first hand experienced people jumping on ladrien-positive posts just to go off about why they think the ship sucks or it’s not their favorite or why their favorite is better is just mind boggling.

And exhausting.

Imagine every time someone made a marichat, ladynoir, adrinette, whatever post there was always, always someone commenting on why “i don’t like it, you do you, but it sucks and that’s my opinion” like they’re superior for liking something else and you’re wrong for liking what you like.

It’s fucking infuriating and disheartening and also like.... no one asked? Scrolling past a post and moving on is free and an underutilized reaction in fandom. Hell even just making your own post on your own blog instead of bothering people celebrating what they like in their space would be better.

And I see it happen the most with ladrien (and adrigami).

I have to wonder why.

Personally I don’t understand the narrative that there is any more second hand embarrassment with ladrien than say adrinette and I really don’t understand the narrative that ladrien cannot talk to each other when like... they do? They very clearly do? There’s just more stammering in the beginning because they’re in love and they don’t know it and that’s just how Marinette in particular acts around her crush.

I’ve written essays on why true selves is a bullshit idea and the show itself has discredited that as well so I’m not going to waste time going into it here.

But it’s not that big a deal because we all like what we like at that’s fine - until you bring in the antis.

Personally, I think the vehement antis’ hatred of the ship is rooted in discomfort with seeing Ladybug being the one to take charge in their relationship. And I wonder how many of them are super just fine if not manic over marichat which is essentially the same thing except the guy is the superhero saving his “princess”. I mean, reverse crush aus abound in this fandom and no one says boo when the relationship dynamics are switched.

But most people don’t want to have that conversation.

I wouldn’t worry about your preferences just because they’re your preferences and we all like what we like. I’d just take a look at the narrative you’re telling yourself about one ship or the other and why you really feel the way you do.

Also not liking something is different than being the dick who feels the need to make sure everyone knows that you don’t like it and why at every opportunity even when it’s not your fucking post.

Blackberries (Adrinette April) Day 28: Care package

Rather than go through the hallway and risk running into someone that they knew or who may have seen Adrien and Marinette duck into the art room, Ladybug and Chat jumped out the window and scaled the building to get to the roof. Ladybug was genuinely surprised by how fast her heart was beating as she rushed towards the far side of the roof just above Madame Bustier's classroom. The concern she was feeling couldn't be solely attributed to Chat, but nor was it the kind of concern she'd feel for an innocent civilian caught in an akuma's crosshairs.

She was worried about Chloé.

'Sometimes I think this bond has changed me for the worst,' she thought.

Chat just laughed and wrapped an arm around her waist as they jumped off the roof together. Ladybug threw out her yoyo and let it catch on a tree in the yard; she dropped them down and swung them through the open window of Madame Bustier's classroom. Most of the students, including Madame Bustier, had fled. Alya was still there because of course she was, safe in the door with her phone in hand. Chloé was the only other person still in the room, and that's because she had been shoved up against the wall by the akuma.

When she saw the akuma, Ladybug froze. So did Chat. The black, red-spotted uniform could only belong to one person -

'Either there's two bitter Ladybug wanna-bes running around Paris, or we've got a problem,' Chat thought.

"Let go of me!" Chloé cried out, struggling against the akuma.

"Let go of you? Why should I?" the akuma demanded.

"Because she said so, and that's the polite thing to do?" Chat said.

The akuma jumped at the sound of his voice, clutching Chloé tighter. "Don't come any closer! I'll kill her!"

Ladybug took a deep breath. 'Get Alya out of here,' she thought. This was the first time an akuma had openly threatened to kill someone and she didn't like it. She stared at the back of the akuma, at the back of Coccinelle and wondered where the akumatized object could be. She couldn't see if the akuma was wearing earrings, but maybe -

Chat quickly made his way over to Alya, giving the akuma a wide berth. They had no way of knowing how much had been said, but it was very likely that Alya had recognized the akuma. If so, she was smart enough to figure out that Coccinelle's civilian self had been akumatized - yet she'd stuck around anyway. He shot her a look, to which Alya smiled innocently. Chat just shook his head and gently pushed her the rest of the way out the door, then pulled the door shut. Before Alya could pull it open again, he jammed a broken desk beneath the handle to keep her out.

"Coccinelle," Ladybug said.

"Don't call me that! I'm Antielle thanks to you!" Antielle swung around, expression full of rage. "You took my miraculous back!"

"Actually, I took my miraculous back," Ladybug said, deciding to leave Master Fu out of it for the time being. Her feelings towards him were very complicated right now, but that didn't mean Master Fu deserved to have an akuma trying to kill him.

"If you're mad at Ladybug, what's your beef with Chloé?" Chat asked, taking his baton in hand. Thankfully, Chloé had the good sense to remain quiet even though she was shooting Ladybug and Chat increasingly desperate looks. She had slid to the floor when Antielle turned around but couldn't escape.

Antielle snarled as she twisted to glare down at Chloé again. "She made me look like a fool in front of the whole class!"

And suddenly, Ladybug put two and two together. Antielle’s hair and eyes had both turned black, but her hairstyle was very familiar – two shorter strands on either side of her face, though now tied off with red ribbons as opposed to orange bands. Like a fog that had been magically lifted, she realized that Coccinelle’s hairstyle had been extremely similar and could’ve slapped herself for not having seen the truth earlier.

"Wait - Lila?!" she exclaimed.

"Oh my god," Chloé said, looking shocked.

"Holy shit," Chat said.

'I can't believe Master Fu gave Lila the Ladybug miraculous,' Ladybug thought, completely horrified.

'At least now we know why he refused to give her the Bee or the Fox miraculous once he figured out what kind of person she is,' Chat thought back.

"You think you're so smart, Bourgeois," Antielle continued, using her grip on Chloé's jacket to drag Chloé back to her feet. Her face contorted with fresh anger. "Adrien and I are meant to be together and I'm going to make it happen no matter what it takes!"

"Adrien will never love you," Chat said. "He has better taste than that!"

"That's right. Besides, Chloé isn't the one you should be mad at. It's me," Ladybug said. "Adrien might have actually noticed you if you had the Ladybug miraculous, but now you're nothing. You're worse than nothing." She poured all the contempt she had ever felt for Lila into a sneer that made Chloé proud. "Right now, you're not even good enough to kiss my boot."

Antielle screamed in pure rage and let go of Chloé to launch herself at Ladybug, who threw herself out the window. She used her yoyo to swing herself to the roof on the other side of the street but failed to account for the fact that Antielle would also have a yoyo. Their bodies impacted with a force that left Ladybug gasping for air and sent her flying, and she found herself rolling across the rooftop instead of landing the way she’d hoped to.

“Ladybug!” Chat cried out.

‘I’m fine,’ Ladybug thought. ‘Get Chloé out of there and somewhere safe!’ She rolled to a stop and sat up as Antielle landed smoothly on the rooftop.

“You think you’re so hot, Ladybug,” Antielle said, stalking towards her. “Everyone in Paris thinks you’re amazing. Wonder what they’d do if they all knew that you were nothing without that miraculous? I can’t wait to strip it off you and show Paris what you really are.”

“Not gonna happen,” Ladybug said, scanning Antielle quickly. The Ladybug suit in all of its iterations couldn’t really hide much. Antielle had no pockets. So whatever her akumatized object was, it had to be visible. That left her hair ribbons, her earrings, or her mask as potential objects. None of which would be easy to get.

“Anti Charm!” Antielle shouted, throwing her yoyo in the air. A black swirl of light produced what looked like a water gun, which Antielle caught. “Here, Ladybug, a care package just for you!” She aimed the nozzle at Ladybug and pulled the trigger.

Ladybug threw herself out of the way of the orange substance that came out. Whatever it was, it sizzled and hissed threateningly as it splattered across the roof. Ladybug stared, somewhere between shocked and horrified, as the orange liquid started melting the roof. Then she looked back at Antielle, gulping when she saw that the water gun was pointed at her again.

‘Chat, you might want to hurry up,’ she thought, dodging another blast of the orange liquid.

‘I’m coming, My Lady. I took Chloé to your bedroom,’ Chat thought.

‘My bedroom? Seriously?’ Ladybug thought, glancing around. She wanted to make a run for it, but she was worried about Antielle spraying an innocent person. There was no telling what that stuff would do to the human body.

‘It was the closest safe place I could think of that Antielle wouldn’t.’ Chat landed on the opposite side of the roof, leaving Antielle trapped between them. Ladybug immediately felt better with him there.

“I suppose you think your kitty is going to help,” Antielle said mockingly, pumping the water gun.

‘Try for her earrings,’ Ladybug thought, spinning her yoyo.

‘Got it,’ Chat thought, taking his baton into his hand.

They both leapt forward at the same time. Antielle unleashed a blast of the orange liquid in Chat’s direction, forcing him to dodge, then spun around to meet Ladybug. She was inhumanly fast, to the point where even Ladybug found herself struggling. She did manage to knock the water gun from Antielle’s grip and kick it away, but Antielle just laughed and punched Ladybug in the stomach. Ladybug gasped at the unexpected pain and reared back.

“I’m better than you,” Antielle scoffed, pivoting to kick Chat in the chest. Then she grabbed her yoyo and wound it around Ladybug, giving it a good yank. Ladybug yelped as she was sent flying into Chat and they both crashed to the ground.

‘How are we supposed to do this if we can’t even get close to her?’ Chat thought, sitting up and rubbing his head.

‘I don’t know…’ Ladybug sat up too and immediately pushed him away, jumping out of the way herself as more of that orange liquid splashed over where they’d just been sitting. Antielle was strong and fast – too much so. They needed something to keep her still.

And then Ladybug had an idea.

Rant of the Droid: Miraculous Ladybug Season 3: Love Eater & Miracle Queen

Hello, people from Tumblr! How have they been in all this time? As always, I hope very well ...

Why honestly I am not.

The reason for that is that I recently saw two disgusting chapters that almost make me eye cancer.

Yes, like that!

As you will guess from the title, the chapters I saw early Love-Eater and Miracle Queen, both from the Miraculous Ladybug series and corresponding to the end of the third season.

But before I go straight to the point, I will say the first thing that must be said: If you, reader, hate the character of Chloé Bourgeois or have recently begun to hate her for the chapters they transmitted and think that all this text is to rant in Against her, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you've come to the wrong place. There is a wonderful little arrow on the upper left side of your browser that will take you out of my post.

Second, if you are going to comment on my post, let it be only on the condition that you agree with my posture. Even I know that this is extremist, but honestly, I don't want to and I don't have the energy to argue, just to give my point of view. Now, having said the above I start with my post to rightly discharge my anger.

First, the designs of the two Akumas are simply horrible. We have Love-Eater, having a disturbing design, but not in a good way, but seeing it throughout its chapter makes you uncomfortable. That and that in addition, its power is really pathetic. Miracle Queen better not to speak, in just a stick of accessories from the Akuma Queen Wasp. Astruc, old man, put more effort to Akumas designs, by God! This is just a scam of the greats, their designs are flat and do not impress at all.

Second, the two chapters, although they have a certain continuity, the truth be told, they have a narrative too rushed. Not only that, the chapters feel without substance, lacking in soul, they feel like filler chapters when they should have been more shocking chapters, since they are the ones that give the closing to the third season. On the other hand, the first appearance of Dragon Bug and Snake Noir had no more relevance than that of appearing as fillers, their presence had no impact. In addition, the action feels soporific and well below the level to which viewers are accustomed. Miracle Queen promised to be an Akuma of terrifying powers and in the end, it was only a mockery, since they defeated her in such an insultingly easy way; Only one more Akuma remained from the pile.

Third, and this is where I am going to download all my anger. Basically what they have done was destroyed the development of Chloé Bourgeois. We had little, but it was development after all, where we could see a slightly more human side in her. And with Miracle Queen, they make it a very empty and flat villain. In part, I understand Chloé's frustrations and the motivations for which she acted like this, but even with those, it is quite notorious and irritating that writers have treated the character like that. For a moment, when Hawk Moth convinces Chloé, we see the blonde doubt for a few seconds, for later and from nothing decide to ally with him. That felt too rushed and without context.

Honestly, I am increasingly convinced that they did this on purpose so that the fandom would hate the character even more. And more and more I think that Astruc is really burned to see people in the fandom that they hold Chloé in high regard. Because it is not enough for him to hate her, we all have to share his feeling of contempt so that he feels fulfilled.

Nice try Astruc. Your plan worked ... halfway, but it worked. It worked because I have seen comments from people who have already hated Chloé again and even their hatred increased much more after such a horrible chapter. But, and this is good for me, your plan also failed, since there are people, annoyed like me, of your questionable decisions and how you have ruined the development of my favorite blonde.

Because despite everything, there are some who still love the character in spite of everything. Indeed, we know that Chloé's actions are her responsibility and her alone. But it is her responsibility within her world. Here, in the real world, you and your team are responsible for burying her development. Astruc, dude, I don't ask you to turn Chloé into a Marinette 2.0 or a Rose 2.0, I'm asking for a development to become a decent person! Only that, you only had that job and did it that bad way.

Which brings me to this point: you and your team of screenwriters, with these two chapters, have just shown me that they no longer know which direction to take their work. Each chapter that premiered this season was a chapter that was highly criticized, each chapter contained its good doses of salt in the fandom.

Dude, realize that you and your team of screenwriters are doing things wrong! And the sooner they recognize it, the better they can correct the wrongs that have been sent!

I have reached a point where I no longer know what to do with your series. If I continue seeing it with the vague hope that now you will do justice to Chloé and in general to all your characters equally or if you will continue to make mistake after error that the only thing they generate in the fandom frustrations everywhere.

Do you know something? It is not to show off, but I consider myself a fairly patient person. However, as you will guess, like everyone else, my patience has a limit. And with these two chapters, I have run out of patience ... Not only patience but also the hope that they would do something significant with my favorite blonde. Well, in part they did, but they did the opposite of what I expected.

As a fan of Chloé Bourgeois, I feel scammed. I feel insulted and in fact, those two chapters are an insult to my intelligence and intellect. Basically, it is as if Thomas Astruc had made me a sleeve cut, showed me the middle finger, spit in my face, insulted my parents and not satisfied with that, to kick my dog. Those two chapters, especially the last minutes of Miracle Queen, where they completely destroy my favorite blonde were the most frustrating minutes of my life.

Throughout my life, I have seen many series, and this is the first time it happens to me that I feel cheated.

Considering the spoilers we have from the fourth season, the end of Miracle Queen is nothing surprising. At the moment there is evidence that Luka and Kagami will be akumatized again and I am already imagining the reason: Adrien and Marinette will break their courtship with these two. If my prediction comes true, it would re-confirm my theory that they no longer know how to handle the series or the relationships and dynamics of the characters. That at the end of the fourth season we will know which ship will win: if the Lukanette or the Adrinette.

And damn, we all know that the Adrinette is going to win, and we know it from the “Origins” chapter.

We do not even know the name or the real appearance of the new Queen Bee, but I am already beginning to hate that character since the most certain thing is that the development that Chloé needed, they will give it to her in a tray of silver. That's what bothers me the most when I think of the new Queen Bee. They would be telling me that it is her and not Chloé, the character I must support. Because she is sweet and not evil

Already with Marinette herself, Rose and Mylene we already had enough with sweet girls.

I insist again: what was the use of seeing all those scenes where they showed a deeper and more human side of Chloé if, in the end, they were going to turn her into a villain, what its I least wanted?

Astruc, why did you give me expectations that way, to destroy them in such a cruel way? I would have preferred you to leave Chloé like a flat brat and devoid of personality as it was in the first chapters of the first season instead to make this tremendous crap.

All the characters, at the end of the episode, have their moments of happiness and hope, all, including Mayor Bourgeois and Audrey (that, let's face it, that part of the script was taken from the back). Everyone except Chloé.

Chloé fans are waiting for difficult times. More Chloé salt post. More anti-Chloé post. More fanfics and more fanarts where they do bashing her. More people who will try to convince us to hate the character. More people who will leave us negative comments when we upload fanfic or fanarts where we just want to express our support and pleasure to her character.

I have already lost all interest in the fourth season. If it succeeds or fails, I don't give a damn. What I am going to do will be to look for summaries, in order to save myself twenty precious minutes of my life, and thus not waste them in a series that is no longer worth it to me.

There is something I have to grant them. And they said that the end of the third season would have us crying in mucus. And you know they really did it with me. I have cried ... but from frustration and anger to see what they have done.

The Super Awkward Public Confession Incident

SO! I am a little (make that a lot) embarrassed to have written/be posting this and of the sheer ammount of asks I’ve sent to @geek-fashionista for her #teacher AU (which were all in Anon so thankfully nobody will ever know the magnitude of my obssession). But well, it escalated to the point that I just had to write The Thing™️ (yes it is I, thanks again for the support Princess).

Much like my #miraculous ladybug genderbend fanfic, I’ll be posting random out-of-order snippets for the teacher AU (but fear not, when I post a thing I’ll tell where it goes in the general scheme), mostly Lunon because I’m just really hardcore shipping these kids. God, I need help.

Today’s snippet takes place almost at the end of the story/AU, at the middle/end of Lucas and Manon’s senior year.

So, here goes nothing! Hope you enjoy!

Lucas Sancoeur strived to make her school hours a living hell, Manon was sure of it. Their rivalry had started on the very first day of their freshman year, when she found out he was set on stopping her OTP from happening, claiming that he’d rather ship ladynoir. First of all, ladynoir was strictly platonic. Second of all, it had nothing to do with adrinette. But no matter how many times she told him that, that damn poker-faced android would only snicker at her and then proceed to ruin her carefully-constructed plans, or question each and every one of her ideas in the strategy meetings he wasn't even supposed to attend in the first place. It was infuriating.

Not to mention the annoying things he would do outside of their ship war, like spending an entire class period kicking the leg of her chair every seven minutes with military precision, or using her head as an armrest (why did he have to be so tall anyway?), or bringing up embarrassing stories and nicknames from her childhood that she didn't know how he got access to, or just overall being Lucas Sancoeur.

She didn’t know what it was that made him so set on bothering her, but she wished he would just cut it already. Maybe he would stop if she just ignored him? She had tried that once, and it did eventually piss him off, but didn't last that long. And it was as if he got bolder by the day, with those sporadic devilish grins and arrogant posing and… not that she was paying attention. She wasn’t paying attention to him at all, in fact. Sheesh.

And she had assumed that he was just being stupidly protective of Adrien or something like that, so he just wouldn't accept anyone who tried to approach his big brother, because no girl was good enough. And, although he was an obnoxious idiot, she could kind of understand that. Kind of. Because Marinette wasn't anyone, she was Marinette! And also freaking Ladybug. And Manon would make sure she got together with her teenage crush if it was the last thing she did.

“What's the problem, then?” She heard Lucas's voice come from inside Mr Agreste’s class as she was passing by, and stopped to listen.

“Well, what if she doesn't like me? What if she refuses? I mean, she's this gorgeous, strong, lovely and kind angel and I'm just… me.” She heard a dejected Mr Agreste's voice answer.

“'Just you’ is Adrien Agreste, bro. Ex-supermodel, amazing teacher, and the nicest guy with the best puns I know. I think that's enough, even for Marinette. Especially for Marinette. Just ask her out already. She'll definitely say yes.” She could hear the cheeky grin in his voice, but it took a while for the words to register - was Lucas Sancoeur, the number one anti-adrinette enthusiast, telling Mr Agreste to just go and ask Marinette out already?

It made no sense, but she was sure she'd heard it right. So she would take a moment before confronting that asshole and asking him WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT. Yes. Deep breaths.

By lunchtime, she was still just as angry, but couldn't hold it back anymore, so she just marched across the courtyard towards Lucas to shove him in the chest. “YOU SHIPPED IT THIS WHOLE TIME?!” She snapped at him, her blood boiling with fury.

“I... what?” he asked, confused, taking a step back from her sudden shove.

She didn't care about his confusion, and just yelled on. “THEN WHY THE HELL WERE YOU TRYING TO STOP ME?!” She continued, shoving a befuddled Lucas once again.

This time he understood what she was talking about, at least, although he still didn't understand the whole picture “Well, I-”

“WERE YOU JUST TRYING TO PISS ME OFF?!” She cut him off, not quite done yet because how could he be so-

“AS A MATTER OF FACT, YES!” He finally snapped back, and she retreated a bit. Well, that was the first time she'd heard him raise his voice… but her indignation at his answer still won over her shock.

“WHAT THE HELL, SANCOEUR!! WHY?!” She snapped right back at him, fuming.

“BECAUSE I LIKE YOU, DAMN IT, AND IF PISSING YOU OFF IS THE WAY TO MAKE YOU LOOK AT ME, THEN SO BE IT!” He snapped back at her, his tone conflicting with his words.

Silence fell throughout the courtyard. Some people dropped their lunches, while others just stared in awe. That had to be the worst confession of the century.

Manon just gaped at Lucas, dumbfounded. And as he noticed what he had just blurted out, a blush threatened to take over his whole face-

“You've officially gone too far now, Sancoeur. How dare you joke about that.” She said, frowning deeply, and it was his turn to gape at her as the colour drained from his face. Had she just…?

Before he could say anything else, she had stormed off, still fuming. And he could only watch her leave, shocked in too many levels to do anything else.

“Shall We Dance?” Chapter 14

Author’s Notes: I’m sorry. I know I’m annoying with the updates but if I don’t focus on it now, I’m afraid I’m going to lose the drive to do it like I do on nearly every other long term project I do. Anyway, Mari’s dying for a reveal and so am I. I was hoping to wait until the ball but I’m thinking there should be an Adrinette date scene (since that is originally how this story started out as) prior to the big event so that’ll have to happen soon. Enjoy!

Chapter 14

Marinette swore again as she accidentally stabbed herself with another pin. Normally, sewing was the one thing she was good and coordinated at but with her mind running at a million miles an hour, and her rushing because she was behind, there was just no way for her to solely focus on her work. Friday night had been magical. She’d kissed Chat Noir. She’d kissed Chat Noir. She’d been elated and on cloud nine all weekend but as Monday rolled around, her nerves started to get the best of her. Tikki tried to talk her down but it didn’t do any good; she’d still woken up super early, paced her room, worried about what to wear, debated about actually trying a new hairstyle, and what would she say? She couldn’t just walk up and go, “Good Morning Adrien Agreste. I know you’re Chat Noir, superhero of Paris, and I know you know I’m Ladybug, other superhero of Paris, and we totally had a make-out session on the Eiffel Tower Friday night. Can we do that again like right now?”

Not that it mattered. Adrien was out again because of a modeling job and Mari deflated when Nino told them. Alya eyed her before shooting Nino a look. Mari was sure that she was going to be hounded with questions again about her response to the news but for some reason, the questions never came. Nino and Alya stayed silent all day.

After school, Alya came over to work on the project with Mari. They had a pleasant time, talking and snacking and working, until she finally went home closer to nine just so Mari could focus a bit on her dress (which she’d been severely slacking on for the last week since she hadn’t been in the mood).

Then came Tuesday and still no Adrien. Mari was sure she was going to lose her mind with the anticipation. She wasn’t as lucky today about the questions because as soon as lunch rolled around the three of them went off to grab a quick bite. Nino, surprisingly, started it.

“So are you and Adrien good now? Are you official,” he asked around a mouth full of sandwich. Mari coughed, nearly spitting out the tea she’d been drinking. Alya patted her back until she stopped coughing then offered her a napkin to clean her chin.

“Official? Official what? You don’t mean….”

“He means it.” Alya leaned closer, eyes twinkling in a dangerous manner at her. “But spill girl. We’ve been watching and we know what’s up. You’ve been real down since Adrien’s been out for the last two days.” Mari ducked her head, cheeks flaming, eyes shifting a bit.

“A-Adrien and I are alright,” she finally said, “but-but we’re not official or anything.” Nino smirked and Alya narrowed her eyes.

“I’m still in.”

“Yeah but I’m still going to win.” Marinette eyed the both of them.

“You didn’t.” Both of them smiled at her innocently. “Oh god… you did. You made a bet on me and Adrien.” Nino snickered and leaned back in his seat.

“Yeah but at least all of it’s on you and Adrien.” Alya kicked him under the table and narrowed her eyes at him before hissing, “Babe, we agreed to not share the details of anything remember? No cracks?” He flinched. Leaning down, he rubbed the spot she kicked. Now it was her turn to question.

“Alya,” Marinette sing-songed, “what’s the bet? You know you want to share.” The brown-haired girl shook her head and stood up, refusing to say anything else and turning to Nino didn’t work either as he was looking anywhere but at her. Plus, he was within his right mind to fear Alya’s wrath. Marinette sighed but stood up as well, knowing that arguing wasn’t going to get her any answers.

Not that she didn’t try. She did. However, Alya was on to her and kept sneaking away with Nino or making it impossible to say anything. So, Marinette ended up going home without any answers and a sneaking suspicion that her friends were up to something; something that her and Adrien were going to regret.

“You need to be careful Marinette,” Tikki trilled, bringing her a Band-Aid and back to reality. She took it gratefully and wrapped it around her finger with a smile. “If you keep this up, your dress will be more red than pink.”

“I’m not spilling that much blood but I will be more careful,” she assured her, giving her cheek a gentle poke. Tikki giggled and flew to the top of the dress model.

Mari’s dress was coming along beautifully. The corset was already pinned and ready for sewing. She had decided at the last minute to add two low lying, wrap-sleeves made from the same, thin material as the skirt. They would wrap around the upper part of her arm before connecting in the back. The skirt, which was interchanging layers of silver and pink, was going to be the most work for her but she already had the first layer of the same satin material as the corset sewn and was currently working on the second. This layer was made out of silver tulle. The final layer was going to be the sheer, shimmery lace pink. In all, three layers. Three really annoying layers to sew and assemble. She sighed as she pinned the last piece of the tulle into place. She sat back on her heels before smiling up at Tikki who smiled down at her.

“You know, I’ve been thinking Tikki,” Mari said, standing and moving to her desk. There was a plate of cookies and some drink, and she picked up one of the cookies to munch on as she continued with, “Realizing that Adrien is Chat was kind of… anti-climactic for me.”

Tikki flew down to join her. Picking up her own cookie, she stared at her. “Was it supposed to be dramatic or something?”

“Well no but… I don’t know. It just feels a little disappointing.” She leaned back in her chair. “I want to do something to make it a little bit more interesting.” Tikki giggled.

“What do you have in mind?” Marinette turned back to her friend, her eyes narrowed, a devious smirk on her face, and a plan already on her mind for terrorizing her poor kitty.

Starting with school tomorrow.

On Wednesday, Adrien had to be losing his mind. Or his sight. Both? Could he lose both at the same time? Of course he could. But god, what a way to go in one sitting.

He rubbed his eyes as he and Nino walked up the steps of the school. In front of them were Alya and Marinette. They’d arrived a few minutes ahead of them and were animatedly talking about something, missing the two of them arriving just behind them, greeting each other as normal, and then following them inside. Nino looked at him confused.

“You alright dude?”

Adrien blinked. “Y-yeah. I’m fine.” He swallowed hard and pointed to Marinette’s back. “Is she…. Is she wearing a cat outfit?”

Nino turned to see what he saw and he raised an eyebrow. Marinette didn’t seem to be any different. At first. She still had her hair parted in her traditional pigtails but the ribbons weren’t red, they were neon green. Looking lower, he then noted that her jacket wasn’t gray, it was black with a matching neon green paw sewn onto the back. She had on a knee length skirt, a belted tail, and black ballet flats. It took him only a couple of seconds to realize what she was doing and he snickered before playfully tapping Adrien on the shoulder. “Yeah man. She totally is. Hey Marinette,” Nino called. Adrien’s face exploded red and he reached over to stop him. It was too late. The girls spun around, a knowing grin crossing Marinette’s face. Alya raised an eyebrow but waved at the two of them as well.

“Morning,” she called. She turned and stopped to wait for them, giving Adrien a complete view of her outfit. She wore a green shirt with angled black stripes on it. The jacket front had tiny green paw prints walking across it. She smiled brightly at them.

As they walked closer, Adrien’s redness became more pronounced and he definitely could not meet Marinette’s expression. Nino whistled. “So Mari. What’s up with the wardrobe change?” She shrugged.

“Just wanted to. What? Alya’s not the only one who can show her superhero pride.”

“Didn’t say that. Just didn’t realize you were such a big Chat Noir fan.”

She chuckled, “I’m claiming the number one fan title.” She nodded and winked towards Adrien, “Without a doubt.” The two girls shared a giggle as they turned to continue on to class and Nino tapped his shoulder again with a snicker before following. Adrien was left with his mouth hanging open once more.

He had no idea what was going on but whatever it was, it could continue for the rest of forever.

Ah, my first Tumblr post (Redux)

I also learned from this article that Tumblr has also “banned revenge porn, hate speech, and posts that glorified school shootings”. and they’re allowing the people who repost their content on other sites to link to them. That’s actually some good they’ve done. But I digress. But I must also look at the comment sections of the articles to see the “common people’s” arguments. Sadly, all I see is “HashtagRIPTumblr”. Is that the depth people really view this situation with? people believe it will “die” as Myspace did. So, Myspace’s fall was due to lacking adult content as opposed to being overshadowed by Facebook and other social networks? What is depressing is that many of these artists are in fact GOOD artists and their skill is something to be admired. My fear is that these artists will disappear from the public eye after this change and I’ll never find them again, nor will anyone. I fear the trust the company is placing in indifferent algorithms, the mistakes that may come down the line because of it. I fear the chilling effect this will have on artists and journalists and writers trying to find their voices. And while the posts will not be taken down but “hidden from public view (Tumblr mods and owners, I would like an official definition of public), it still voices some distressing questions. So here’s my voice: Don’t let this tear you down! I’ve gone to blogs I’ve hated, blogs with a tone I found more akin to Harvey Weinstein than the freely expression sexuality and I prayed that in the last NSFW purge that they would not be taken down, but TORN down. There are other sites we can use, but many of them need money or are just downright sleazy, full of pop-ups and adds. What happens when we don’t have any money? or just get tired of the adds. This is a move that might taint the trust in the company. And what about the posts that keep their NSFW content tagged and away from public view, under the keep-reading marker? will those be blocked from view? There are plenty of writers and creators of non-adult content to keep this site afloat, but I’m not defending tumblr. Eminem puts it like this in his song Bully: “As we grow as men, we learn to let shit go but then again there’s only so much bullshit we can stand.” I want no comments or extensions on this post. I want no critique. I only wish to get the story out and share something that is entirely my opinion and feelings. If you want to fight this change, reblog/like this post, recommend it to people you know, write your own posts like it, call Tumblr’s offices, text them, talk to them, give suggestions, raise questions like the ones I have here, warn people, start and sign petitions, look for alternative sites, get the word out. Try to be more considerate of what you post and how you post it. And if your a moderator, weigh your options before you mark something for deletion. I’ve seen NSFW posts that show the healthiest legal relationships you’ll ever see. Don’t rage against a faceless corporation’s misguided good intentions when they were in a no-win scenario and then rage quit without so much as a forwarding address. I’ve done that and it has only soured me in a way I fear has only lessened me as a writer. It’s a crunch, but we have two weeks to do something about this and people have done bigger things with higher stakes in less time (ever heard of the sit ins of the civil rights movement). We’re not powerless, we’re not worthless, what we feel and what we do is not worthless. the people we’re angry and disgusted who work at tumblr TRIED. and we can do the same. Some of you are scared, angry, hurting even. I know the feeling. But know this: even if we don’t make it, we’ll get gears turning, laying bedrock for others. Maybe people in charge will begin to see this as a mistake and try a different course of action. The actions we take now aren’t to the tune of Linkin Park’s “in the End”. We’ve survived worse. We’ve fought worse. We’ve WON against worse. I don’t believe this sight will die from it’s new direction. But I believe it will become poorer for it. As will the rest of us on the fence, wondering if this site is right for us. So, in the words of Edward R. Murrow, good night and good luck.

Since I don’t know how to use the tags for what I desire, I’ll just put these here and pray the search function works the way I hope it does

Blackberries (Adrinette April) Day 30: Ice cream

"Use your Lucky Charm before Antielle gets here," Chat urged.

Ladybug nodded. "Lucky Charm!" she cried, throwing her yoyo aloft. It burst into red sparkles and then a red, black-spotted ice cream scoop fell into her hands. She blinked at it for a moment, belatedly noticing but disregarding the twin baffled looks on Chat's and Queen Bee's faces, then looked around. A soft jingling sound caught her attention. She walked to the edge of the roof and peered over.

"Is that André the ice cream guy?" Queen Bee said in disbelief, having followed her.

"Yeah, it is. Okay, I know what to do," Ladybug said, eyes darting around and focusing in on first Chat, then Queen Bee, André's cart, and the scoop in her hands. "Queen Bee, I want you to hide. You have to be ready to sneak up on Antielle with your stinger. As soon as you take her down, grab her earrings, her hair ribbons, and her mask if you can get it off. We're not sure where the akumatized object is and we might only get one chance at this so we're going to have to be fast."

"Got it. You can count on me, Ladybug," Queen Bee said.

"I know I can," Ladybug said, surprised to realize that it was true. She thrust the ice cream scoop at Chat. "Go down there and borrow André's cart. Scoop as much ice cream on the ground as you can. Make it nice and sticky and slippery, and maybe even keep a few scoops to the side to throw at her. I'll be the bait that gets Antielle down there."

"You know, I much prefer it when our roles are reversed and I'm the bait," Chat said, but he turned to do as she'd asked. Ladybug watched them both go and then forced herself to turn away, scanning the horizon. It shouldn't have taken Antielle that long to crawl out of the dumpster. She had to be planning something. But what? Not knowing made Ladybug nervous. Antielle was by far the strongest akuma they had faced so far.

But it was little wonder. Lila had plenty to be angry about. Not only had the miraculous and her chance at fame been taken out from under her nose, Chloé had shown her that picture of Marinette and Adrien and Alya had been pressuring her about another interview. It was probably a good thing that Lila hadn't known that Marinette had suggested the interview, or Antielle would've been after her too. For that matter, it was frankly surprising that Antielle wasn't trying to kill Marinette - but then maybe Marinette was number three on her list...

'Okay, stop it. Thinking about someone trying to kill Marinette is freaking me out,' Chat thought.

'Sorry,' Ladybug thought, realizing that she was letting her mind get away from her. 'I just wish that Master Fu had been more careful about who he chose as Coccinelle. I'm sure Lila would've gotten akumatized eventually, maybe even today... but she wouldn't have become Antielle and so maybe she wouldn't have been such a problem. Those Anti Charms of hers pack a real punch.' She rubbed ruefully at her shoulder.

'I don't know what he was thinking. All I can think of is that Master Fu was desperate. He did say he hadn't had the chance to look at any candidates. Pretty sure he just picked the first person he came across that day. Plus, you know how good Lila is at lying,' Chat thought.

Ladybug did know, and she could easily imagine Master Fu being suckered in, like so many other adults at the school, by Lila's faux sweet nature. Still, that made it no less frustrating. She paced around the roof, wondering if they would be facing an akumatized Lynx next. She really hoped not. Antielle's Anti Charm was bad enough; Ladybug couldn't fathom what Cataclysm would be like in the hands of an akuma...

"Ladybug, look out!"

Queen Bee's warning came just in time. At the sound of it, Ladybug reacted instinctively and threw herself to the ground. Something passed over her head so close that she could feel it and hit the roof behind her. She pushed herself up and turned, eyes widening at the sight of an honest-to-god arrow. The tip was sunk several inches deep in the roof and the shaft was still quivering. Ladybug gulped and touched the top of her head, realizing that the arrow had come so close it had actually touched her hair.

"Damn," Antielle said, and Ladybug spun around to see that the akuma was standing behind her wearing a cruel smirk. "Just a little bit lower and we could've had Ladybug-shish-kabobs. What a shame. Guess I'll have to try again." She hefted the black, red-spotted crossbow she was holding.

"Because I'm really going to stand here and let you shoot me," Ladybug said sarcastically, backing up a step. It took everything she had to maintain her composure and not let her fear show on her face.

'Okay, ice cream is on the ground and Queen bee is hidden. We’re ready,' Chat thought.

"It would be nice if you did, but that's okay. I don't mind a hunt!" Antielle fired again and Ladybug dodged again, this time throwing herself off the roof. She threw her yoyo out and saw it connect with a tree branch -

And an arrow flew through the air and cut through the tree branch.

"Ladybug!" Chat's cry rang out as she hit the ground with a pained groan, having fallen a good three stories.

"Anti Charm!" Antielle cried as she landed several feet away from where the ice cream was - so much for that plan.

"Get up, Ladybug!" Queen Bee was suddenly there, grabbing Ladybug's arm and dragging her to her feet. Over Queen Bee's shoulder, Ladybug caught sight of Chat grappling with Antielle. He was using his baton and Antielle was now holding a black, red-spotted spear with a razor-sharp edge.

"I'm fine," Ladybug said shakily, gently pushing Queen Bee away. Her mind raced in search of another plan, but she was coming up blank. The smart thing to do would be to slip away, let her transformation run out, feed Tikki and regroup - she only had about three minutes left anyway. They would need a new Lucky Charm if they hoped to beat Antielle. But she didn't know if she could leave Chat...

"Go," Queen Bee said, putting a hand on Ladybug's arm and meeting Ladybug's gaze. "I'll help him. Just hurry."

"I'm counting on you," Ladybug told her; she put her hand over Queen Bee's and squeezed briefly before she ran, heading for the school. Behind her, Antielle let out a scream of rage that sent chills down her spine.

Ladybug rushed into the empty school and ducked into a classroom. "Spots off," she said.

Tikki appeared, looking worried. "Oh Marinette, I'm so sorry! I should've told you it was Lila when you asked!" she cried.

"It's okay, Tikki. You couldn't have known what would happen. But please, eat as fast as you can. Chat and Queen Bee need me," Marinette said, wincing as she crouched down. Her side really hurt from where she'd landed on the ground. She took a cookie from her purse and gave it to Tikki.

"Right," Tikki said, taking a huge bite of the cookie and chewing furiously.

Marinette closed her eyes for a moment, taking a few seconds to catch her breath and work through the pain from her side and her shoulder. There was a way to get to Antielle, just like there had been every other akuma they had faced. She just had to remain calm until Tikki had finished eating. Then she could transform and use whatever Lucky Charm she got, as well as Queen Bee's stinger, to get the akumatized object away from Antielle. Chat could Cataclysm it, Ladybug would purify the butterfly and cast the cure, and this would all be a bad memory. Right.

And then it went quiet outside.

Antielle broke the silence by laughing and calling out, "Oh Laaaaaadyyyyybuuuuug. You should really come out."

"She's taunting you, Marinette. Don't listen," Tikki said between mouthfuls of cookie.

But Marinette had to look. She carefully turned around and slowly sat up until she could peek over the sill. Her eyes widened in utter horror at what she saw. Queen Bee was all wrapped up in Antielle's yoyo, tied to a tree - she was struggling to get free, but she couldn't. Blood was running down her face from a deep cut across her jaw. Antielle was standing in the middle of the yard, one strong arm wrapped around Chat's body. He was pinned against her, unable to move... because the tip of Antielle's spear was jammed up under his chin.

"Come out here, Ladybug," Antielle commanded, losing her humor. "Or I'll put shish kabob kitty on the menu tonight."
