More snippet requests: Panther!Milena, Vanyel in Kaer Morhen, ISNLIV
Panther!Milena:
The enormous fucking cat paces towards them, one slow step at a time, ears still pricked forward, tail-tip twitching. It doesn’t look like a hunting stalk, Lambert doesn’t think; it’s not hunkered down, not slinking. It’s just… walking, right towards them. It comes right up to Aiden, who holds out his hand, the daft moggy, like the damn thing wouldn’t be able to bite his whole fucking arm off if it wanted to. The cat sniffs at Aiden’s offered fingers delicately, pulls back in thought, and then bumps its nose gently against Aiden’s hand and sits down, curling its tail tidily around its enormous paws. It’s as tall sitting up as Aiden’s shoulder, and its head is almost as big as Aiden’s fucking ribcage. “What a good kitty,” Aiden coos, and puts his hand on the fucking thing’s head.
Vanyel in Kaer Morhen:
Vanyel kisses back without thinking about it, and only when Tylendel has to pull back to breathe does he remember that Cedric is watching. He glances over at Cedric in sudden horror, to find that the cat-eyed man… Looks amused, mostly. Vanyel swallows hard. Cedric tilts his head and raises an eyebrow in question. Vanyel tries to think of how to pantomime this. After a moment he gestures to himself, then to Tylendel, then makes an expression of fury and disgust. Cedric blinks in confusion for a moment, then laughs aloud and shakes his head. He puts down his whittling knife and the bit of wood he’s been working on, and holds his hands up, each with an index finger extended. “Cedric,” he says, wiggling one finger. “Axel,” for the other. Then he hooks his index fingers together tightly, like two links in a chain. Vanyel’s jaw drops, and he can feel Tylendel’s matching astonishment. Cedric and Axel are shaych? And it’s not a secret at all?
ISNLIV 3:
Lambert has never met a witcher whose scent was pears and honey, which mostly just means whoever it is, it isn’t a long-lost Wolf or one of the two Vipers and one particularly grumpy Bear he’s ever encountered. It could be a hermetic Griffin, maybe. If it is, Coën will be overjoyed, especially if Lambert can talk them into coming back to Kaer Morhen. Or maybe a Bear - they’re solitary, but not completely heartless. More likely a Viper, who will almost certainly want a favor or three for saving Lambert’s sorry ass, but if they get him back to Kaer Morhen, well, his pack will pay whatever price is set. ...Or, of course, he could be a gods-be-damned Cat.

Details in (most likely) Davrin's room
Here's the full shot. Not going to talk about the floating whatevers outside the window.
There's... A lot of nugs happening here. The nug anatomy diagram, then the FIVE (5) wooden nug statues. There is also four bear statues, and one statue that seems to be of a horned creature, hart or halla maybe? Also plenty of wet specimens, scrolls, and books. He's a hunter, maybe he's more on the ranger side of things and studies animals as well? Perhaps he drew the diagram? (We already know he wittles)
And then you move slightly to the left, there's even more going on. The diagram of different horn types is GREAT, adds a lot of character I think (spot the halls horns drawn! They look like his vallaslin!). Especially in combination with the HORN CHANDELIER, straight out of a southern USA style McMansion. Furthermore, the horns in the chandelier seem to be NUGGALOPE HORNS! (Pictured below) Dragon horns don't branch like that. What did you do to them Davrin.
There are also multiple giant unidentified skulls on the wall. Could they be griffins? More scrolls, newspaper (?) clippings, and also a chalice, which is only noticeable because he's a grey warden, maybe they redesigned the joining cup since the 5th blight. And last but not least, the HUMANOID SKULL on the damn desk. Where did you get that.
Nuggalopes my beloathed/loved
Even further to the left and you see a uh- uhm, well it's uh- a skull. That doesn't look like a dragon skull, or the other skulls in the room. What is that. What. A uh..... Weird. Dragon? Also, the interesting fireplace shape, the Singular chair (probably leftover from Solas), and the . Nug. Is it a statue? Is it taxidermy? Is it alive? I hope nugs are a running thing with him, I need more nugs in my life.
Going to the edge, there's another nug statue (!) and a dragon statue, on what appears to be workbenches. I'm guessing he doesn't just do whittling, but also other wood working. Also there seems to be hanging planters in the green jugs hanging in the window!! Ignore the fade outside.
Nug count: 7 statues, one drawing
Skull count: 6
Nuggalope suffering: immeasurable

we're collectively glossing over one of the best-written, most heartbreaking parts of babel (huge spoilers ahead):
"He would never know, for instance, that there was a time when Griffin, Sterling, Anthony, and Evie had thought of themselves as a cohort as eternally bonded as Robin's did; or that Griffin and Sterling had quarrelled once over Evie, bright and vibrant and brilliant and beautiful Evie, or that Griffin truly hadn't meant it when he'd killed her. In his retellings of that night, Griffin made himself out to be a calm and deliberate murderer. But the truth was that, like Robin, he'd acted without thinking, from anger, from fear, but not from malice; he did not even really believe it would work, for silver responded only sporadically to his command, and he didn't know what he'd done until Evie was bleeding out on the floor. Nor would he ever know that Griffin, unlike Robin, had no cohort to lean on after his act, no one to help him absorb the shock of this violence. And so he'd swallowed it, curled in around it, made it a part of himself – and while for others this might have been the first step on the road to madness, Griffin Lovell had instead whittled this capacity to kill into a sharp and necessary weapon."

Easts Supernatural Rant
Just been thinking a lot about how bad Supernatural is lately because I've been going through the weeds reading old fics I've bookmarked and there's some good SPN ones. Background info: I watched SPN nonstop in middle school (roughly ten years ago) and if you go back in time you'll see that it was the fandom I was in way back when I first made my tumblr. I watched until about... season 10? When I realized it was never going to actually get good. So I was really obsessed with it for a good while but also it has been quite a while since I actually watched it.
rant under the cut o7
Okay so anyone who has watched Supernatural knows that it didn't start out actually so... bad. Supernatural starts out decent and builds up momentum fine in my memory clear through the final of season 5. I feel like among the fandom most people know that this should have been the ending of the series. For those reading who don't know, Swan Song ends with a really beautiful monologue about endings and in a tragedy with just enough of a glimmer of hope. Like it's a good ending. And then the series just kept going. do not get me wrong - there's a lot of fun episodes and concepts explored in the *checks notes* holy shit 10 FUTURE SEASONS, but it's also where a lot of the cracks really get bad.
However, in my opinion the biggest issue with Supernatural as the seasons progress is how whittled down the cast becomes. In the first few seasons there are a lot of supporting cast that you really get attached to - there's a bar for hunters, Bobby's place, a whole network of people connected to the principle cast.
While naturally the core of the series is Dean and Sam (and eventually Castiel) almost all of the supporting cast dies. And while I think the death is good in several ways, it really pushes the stakes of the series, especially in the earlier seasons where death truly was final and wasn't a joke. However you can only kill the supporting cast for so long until the show becomes... lonely. Messy. You start to not want to get attached to new characters because of how you know they'll probably die and then not get mentioned again. Many characters after their death just kind of... fade into the background never to be seen. While I don't believe that characters need to be mourned forever, you can't help but to feel that they are dropped for convenience of the show.
This has been on my mind because, as I've been poking around the annals of ao3 looking for diamonds in the rough, I've realized that really any fics that take place in any of the later seasons (let's say 8-15) to me might as well be a different show. It's a show heralded by characters I either don't know (Griffin Mcelroy meme of 'I don't know who Jack Kline is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask) or are character so completely reshaped by the narrative that I no longer recognize them (Castiel the character that just kind of does whatever will make the story interesting I'm looking at you).
What previously is a respectable narrative becomes blown out of proportion. I was reading a fic that dealt a lot with the themes of 'free will' and what that means and how do we try and exercise it, and I realize that I forgotten that, at one point, free will had been the theme of the series. The principle trio in the fandom is called Team Free Will because of that, but pretty much after season 5 all of that is thrown out the window. The first third of the series the boys are fighting against fate, and prophecy, and roles that they have been assigned to. But in the latter part of the series, as the narrative web spins further out of control, you lose that theming.
I mostly talk about this because I kind of find it interesting to look at. About what is engaging to me as a person, and what is a red flag. What I like in a story and what I don't. And I am chiefly reminded of moments where the series drops plot point, or muddies messaging (I have been reminded what The Voicemail is and how it is never addressed). And It's sad. Because I really REALLY loved the show once, and cared for the characters. And now I take refuge in fanfiction, because a lot of the aspects of the story and settings and characters hold SO MUCH potential, that is ruined in the source material.
Uhhhh yeah. Let me know what you think and let me know if have any questions about my opinions on stuff cuz I LOVE talking about art and narrative and stories. Or let me know if you want Fanfic recs because hell yeah I do.
#spn#supernatural#rant#the east rants#I mean#I also don't give a shit about romance plots pretty much ever#so that may have affected things#*holding Garth and Kevin Tran in my hands*#I would have treated you boys better I promise

OC(s) Questionnaire
Tagged by @greypetrel - and her characters are just beautiful, so I'd highly recommend to hop on her blog and read her version :> 💜 Thanks for the tag!
Tagging: maybe @coloricioso could be interested? No pressure as usual ✨ +plus anyone who is interested!
Everything under "Read more" after the first one, of course.
NAME: Gwydion Hawke
NICKNAME: Hawke, of course - the firstborn can take dibs on the family surname. And then Gideon, since 1. that's how most people misspell his actual name and 2. Varric uses it in his stories (it's “more suited for the hero”). He doesn't mind.
GENDER: Male, although he takes it easy. In a modern AU he would be the Hakwe sibling most likely to experiment with gender presentation - and in every universe he just knows he'd look good in a dress/corset.
STAR SIGN: Libra
ORIENTATION: Gay
NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Literally a random human born on a ship – 100% conceived in Kirkwall though.
FAVORITE FRUIT: All the citruses
FAVORITE SEASON: Early Spring
FAVORITE FLOWER: Forget-me-not, snowdrops, zagare (orange blossoms).
FAVORITE SCENT: Crushed elfroot, rain, lyrium potions - and why must lyrium be toxic when it clearly smells like raspberries and tangerines? UH? Templars are gatekeeping it. He is literally the only one saying this. At some point he’ll think fondly of sewage.
COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Tea, preferably cold.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Around 7, but not consecutive.
DOGS OR CATS: Dogs AND cats AND also every single animal willing to be pet - why would you deny a centipede some love? And did anyone actually tried to raise a baby dragon? Cowards.
DREAM TRIP: Antiva, or Rivain – it sounds fun, from Isabela’s stories, and he is intrigued by their religious customs (and generally different approach to magic). Not without 50+ SPF though, have you seen Anders' skintone?
NUMBER OF BLANKETS: Just a few, he doesn’t particularly suffer the cold – and he’s a cuddly sleeper.
RANDOM FACT: Extremely tactile, hands must be occupied (almost) all the time. He makes his own bows and then whittle silly little figurines with the scraps of wood - usually they all end up looking like chunky animals of debatable identification.
NAME: Maren Hawke
NICKNAME: Mari (used only by selected people – Bethany can, Carver may or may not find nettles in his bed the next day) and various epithets by Varric (he finds her difficult to pin down, to his extreme annoyance). When she’ll get into Kirkwall’s politics people will start to call her Lady Amell, to everyone amusement.
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Official not-so-mean lesbian
STAR SIGN: Scorpio
NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Human, born in Ferelden, even if she doesn’t feel a strong national connection to it.
FAVORITE FRUIT: Pears, quince, pomegranates
FAVORITE SEASON: Autumn and Winter
FAVORITE FLOWER: Wild violets, daisies
FAVORITE SCENT: Parchment and ink, ambergris, wild roses’ oil, metal.
COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Black coffee in public, hot chocolate with lots of spices (and something sweet to eat on the side) in more private settings.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Better not to ask. Around 5, to avoid dreaming – she will slowly get better during the years.
DOGS OR CATS: Birds, obviously.
DREAM TRIP: For political reasons, all the cities of the Free Marches. And Weisshaupt/the Anderfels to pester the Wardens about griffin’s eggs – because what Merrill wants, Merrill gets.
NUMBER OF BLANKETS: At least 4, because half of them will be stolen by Merrill during the night.
RANDOM FACT: Does she care about fashion? Not particularly, but she is highly aware of the power of appearences, and how to convey certain messages through clothes. She prefers small and significant jewelry over flashy one, but absolutely loves a nice statement headpiece, especially with some kind of drapery or veil – so she can literally put behind a curtain annoying people with a subtle turn of her head.
NAME: Malva Surana
NICKNAME: Irving’s pet, Surana, debatable variations on her name when Jowan wanted to be annoying – after the Circle, she is just Malva and then the Warden Commander.
GENDER: Do you have a gender if the circumstances of your birth make you less than a person in the eye of society? Ahaha, anyway, female.
ORIENTATION: Very queer - preference for women, but willing to experiment for the sake of it, if she fancies so. In another world, her and Gwydion would be the monsterfuckers, let’s be real.
STAR SIGN: Aquarius
NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Definitely a city elf (the tattoos are random lines, made by someone who wanted her to remember but had no idea how a vallaslin really looks like, or how and when they are done) – maybe from Denerim’s alienage? But as far as she knows, there is no past before Kinloch Hold.
FAVORITE FRUIT: Blackberries
FAVORITE SEASON: Spring
FAVORITE FLOWER: The kind of question that would trigger a half-an-hour-long aswer. For brevity sake: nightshade, hellebore, wisteria, ivy (not a flower, but impossible not to mention), and mallow.
FAVORITE SCENT: Burning wood, moss and damp earth, rosemary, wildberries.
COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Definitely tea. She is the mistress of the most absurd herbal infusions. They are great and they'll cure your cavities and other various ailments - but you don't want to know the ingredients. Don’t.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Between 6-8, can wake up every day at the same time without any alarm of sort.
DOGS OR CATS: If really pressed she'd say dogs (“They are great traveling companions”) but immediately regrets it because of all the fond memories of Ser Pounce-a-lot.
DREAM TRIP: The Thirashan forest, Arbor Wilds, Arlathan Forest – pretty much an elven history roadtrip to try to reclaim that part of her identity.
NUMBER OF BLANKETS: Just one or two, wrapped all around her chrysalis-like because her subconscious still believes that the other apprentices will steal them.
RANDOM FACT: For a moment, she was Justice's first choice for a possible living host - she never knew it, though.

TBP HC about what their secret hobbies are because I need some TBP content. Thanks
Silly secret hobbies for the boys!
Griffin - Besides his hobby of picking up rocks or hanging in random places? He secretly enjoys scrapbooking. Nature scrapbooking to be exact. Never talks about it though because everyone knows him to be actively wandering around instead of sitting down and focusing all his time on something
Finney - He builds a lot of things besides rockets. Get him some Legos and he made a working vending machine. Only Robin really knows about this so technically it's both a secret and not
Bruce - Bruce writes poetry in his off time. He has a journal that comes with a tiny lock on it and the key is in the tongue of some sweaty shoes. The poetry is pretty good, but nobody has ever read it except for Vance.
Robin - Robin secretly knows how to play a little bit of viola. Not enough to be considered good, but enough that he could pop out a Mary had a Little Lamb without much trouble. He plays it at random to cheer up his mum by pretending he's in a mariachi band
Vance - He collects bottle caps and they all stay in a shoebox underneath his bed. Some of them are pretty enough to just be there, and the other half is eaten (Mostly the more common ones). He'll steal the caps from other kids or off the ground
Billy - Billy seems the type of kid to have a hobby of woodworking. Just whittling away at some chunk of wood or making birdhouses. He's made Harper's doghouse by scratch and is darn proud of that
Gwen - Kicking bully butts. I'm joking she sews for fun and also so she can mend whatever rips

I caught up on episode 26 of TAZ Steeplechase today and it’s another great episode! I love the murder mystery vibe to this one. Justin’s whittling old man voice sent me into such a fit of giggles. I could tell he was excited to whip that particular voice out for the boys.
The ease with which Emerich is charmed and flattered is incredibly cute and I love him. Beef trying to reckon with the group’s participation in criminal activities while trying to stay true to his nature as a Good Dude who is concerned with the wellbeing of bystanders is so interesting and I’m enjoying his journey. Montrose is so good at adapting to whatever situation the group finds themselves in. He comes up with such creative ways to get them into and out of various situations and I loved the True Crime Podcast angle Griffin went with. Garet Longjohns is an excellent creation and Justin’s realization of just how Barry Bluejeans came into being for Griffin was so funny. I’m always delighted by the McElroys’ character work.
This season of TAZ has been so fun so far and I’m always excited to learn more about the world. Great job, lads!

Genuinely love how so many of glenn's characters have kicked cat energy
we should rank them on how soaked and shaking their kitten like demeanor is
ooooh good idea (istg glenn has never played a character that doesn't radiate kitten energy)
so number one for me has to go to cliff gilbert, purely because that man just EXUDES sopping wet kitten energy. like he's just so pick-up-able, and I feel like he would enjoy head scratches. also gives off very 'tiny kitten afraid of everything' vibes. no I will not elaborate just look at him
number two has to go to dennis reynolds, because yes he's a different kind of cat, but he's still a cat boy to his core. he's the sort of cat who you find on the street just clawing and hissing and growling but then one day he'll come and curl up on your lap and you won't understand exactly why but you'll appreciate it. definitely a biter. will knock shit off the counter just to piss you off.
last but not least of the big three is jack griffin. now please do not mistake his ranking as me thinking he is any less of a wet kitten than the other two, he's just slightly toned down. the harvard education whittled away at his feral nature but if you look below the surface it's definitely still there. case in point the sleeping on the desk scene. there is perhaps nothing more 'cat energy' than curling up in an environment not meant for sleeping.
he didn't fall asleep at his desk. no. he purposefully lay down ON TOP of the desk and hit the hay in the most cat-like 'idgaf I'm sleeping here way' possible.
#tldr they are ALL CATS#and ranking them was so difficult bc they all radiate that energy just slightly different#iasip#its always sunny in philadelphia#ap bio#the mindy project#dennis reynolds#jack griffin#cliff gilbert

Hi if you’re still doing the submissions for 100 followers (congrats btw!) could you write down some ash headcanons you have? can be general or specific, love ur acc !!
Thank ya kindly, Anon! I'll give you some of my favorite Ash headcanons:
Ash took up the guitar when Dino tried to get him to take cello lessons. He likes to play folk songs because they remind him of summers in Cape Cod with Griffin.
Ash can sustain knife wounds and gun nicks. Paradoxically, he cries over papercuts and looks to Eiji to be coddled.
When he's out of cigarettes, he will get butts from his ash tray, salvage any tobacco, and roll a new one up.
After moving in with Eiji, he becomes much more sentimental and romantic. He daydreams about having children and living in an old-fashioned house with a family of his own.
Ash is very close to Eiji's mom. Eiji teases him by saying that she loves him more. He, quote, "knows his way around a paring knife, unlike someone."
Speaking of knives, Ash whittles wood when he can't sleep or is nervous. Sometimes he'll finish a piece in one sitting—a duck, a wolf, a rabbit—and set it on Eiji's table for him to wake up to.
Ash becomes an early riser to walk Buddy. Those two have an inseparable bond. He feeds him meat from under the dinner table when Eiji isn’t looking.
Ash loves writing handwritten letters and memos—to Eiji, when he’s away for work; to Eiji’s sister and mother; to Sing and his friends in New York; to Michael, who would send him drawings in return; to Max and Jessica, catching them up on his life in Japan.
#there's a ton more gahh#didn't wanna clog everyone's tl though haha#let me know which your favorite is; might write something up for it!#ash lynx#asheiji#banana fish#headcanon#anon#answered

“is it bad that i don't miss haven? at all?” terrible what had happened to the place, but, well, skyhold was on another level. her quarters were far nicer, far warmer than the home she had to share. she missed her privacy. not that the chill had improved even deeper in the mountains. the fur lining her cloak could only do so much.
enough time had passed. she decided it was as good a time as any to check in on her companions. cassandra was, well, cassandra. blackwall had been whittling. and him? she leaned against the battlements, admiring the sculpture carved in stone, a griffin in flight. she wished she could have seen one for herself. “this is a lot different from what you're used to, isn't it?”

Feline? Bird? Why not a mix of the two, then? A winged cat? A winged sphinx? Maybe even a griffin? There are honestly a ton of interesting combinations you could choose from. All that matters is that it's something that means the most to you. In my case, I often carved birds from home. A cardinal for my love and a mockingbird and hummingbird for our twins. Before we start though-- we'll definitely need some, ah..
(The ghost cleared his throat abruptly, scratching the base of his neck.)
Whittling upplies are a necessity. Can't carve squat without 'em.
You can mix them up?! What! I thought it was based on real life animals only- but I guess mythical creatures exist here so... man its so hard to choose! How'd you end up choosing birds for your family palismen?
Oh, I guess I have to ask Philip for supplies since he mentioned it before. Wanna come along?

very concerning that so many NPCs from previous heists are showing up. i felt pretty strongly that it was probably kenshall who had paul pantry killed. maybe paul had some dirt on kenshall and was trying to blackmail him. maybe he even figured out kenshall was behind the gallspire incident and threatened to expose him.
but now darla davis is here and claiming she actually investigated the murder and determined it was gravel, even though it seems like the murder didn't even happen at prize pantry... very strange. darla seemed to be more aligned with the employees than the dentons, so it seems unlikely she'd go along with making gravel a scapegoat unless they were hardcore blackmailing her as well. it will be very interesting to see what she says next episode.
'murder we spoke' was really funny though. that made me laugh. and i loved how the background music went to a serial-type song.
my least favorite thing abt steeplechase is how a lot of the time the boys try to do things and justin just like...totally blocks them. so it feels like most of their efforts are completely useless. he doesn't even let them roll, he just roleplays the NPC stonewalling them, and doesn't give any opportunity for it for it to contribute to the story.
like when clint talked to the whittle around hardlight. it seemed so obvious that that guy didn't know anything about the crime. it would've been way more interesting if that guy had potentially had some information, and if clint rolled really well he would've found it out. it would take some real improv to do, but would've paid off so well if justin had roleplayed and tried to incorporate clint's initiative into actually helping them. but instead the same thing happened with a bunch of npcs and most of the episode was just spent in conversations where the boys learn nothing. i know it was pretty obvious that gravel didn't actually kill paul, but when montrose got her attention and asked if she did it, why didn't griffin roll to see what kind of answer she gave instead of just defaulting to a non-answer that justin knows will fool montrose's lie detector
i don't know, maybe i'm thinking of this more like dnd but this episode felt soooo slow
