Ten months sober, I must admit
Just because you're clean, don't mean you don't miss him.
Ten months older, I won't give in
Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it

Dupondius of the Roman emperor Tiberius (r. 14-37 CE), minted in 34-35. On the obverse, the bust of Tiberius, crowned with laurel; Tiberius here styles himself DIVI AUG(USTI) F(ILIUS)="Son of the deified Augustus". On the reverse, a male portrait bust within a shield-ring, surrounded by the inscription CLEMENTIAE S(ENATUS) C(ONSULTO). This may be a reference to the shield voted to Augustus by the Senate in 27 BCE, which bore the inscribed virtues of virtus, clementia, iustitia, and pietas. Following the lead of Julius Caesar, Augustus and his successors stressed clementia as a characteristic trait of the emperor, who had it in his power to extend mercy to defeated enemies. In this case, there is a certain irony to the imagery, as Tiberius' last years were marked by many trials and condemnations for offenses against the imperial maiestas at the behest of informers.

A brief summary of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty
Octavian/Augustus - he has a reputation associated with peace but you will get a little ill once you look at all the collateral damage around him and that reputation ie. It's easy to institute a regime of peace when you've murdered everyone who might oppose you
Tiberius - when a chronic people pleaser finally get into a position of power and still no one thinks they're good enough and they finally reach burnout and fuck off to their vacation home indefinitely
Caligula - the first emperor in the long litany of reasons why people whose brain has not fully developed should NOT be given access to unlimited power. Little Boots is either insane or the absolute champion at taking the piss out of the elite and there isn't really a third option
Claudius - an icon for overcoming disability and bullying and knowing how to delegate administration appropriately. Also this man gave his wives a lot of mobility (for the time) so we stan in spite of the sources trying to smear him for that very thing. Also this man was SUCH a nerd and I wish they hadn't destroyed his history of the Civil Wars but that's the Augustan propaganda machine for ya even near kin isn't safe from censorship
Nero - take one traumatic childhood add a flare for the dramatic and then give them unlimited power before their brain is fully developed and now it's like Caligula but with more pizzazz. Nero is literally what happens when that obnoxious rich kid who's into theater gets absolutely unlimited money and power and nothing to curtail his flare for a spectacle.

Okay so I said I kind of wanted to make digesting the flower cards a series, so next time is ofccc Dru’s brother Mr Ty Blackthorn
Tumblr media
I have a feeling “I have loved you & you haven’t know it” is definitely referring to him and his feelings towards Kit. And I think the sentiment behind it is quite straightforward. Him loving Kit and Kit not knowing.
I have a feeling this is meant to be a play on the scene QOAAD where Kit confesses his love to Ty and Ty doesn’t really respond, or acknowledge his feelings. I’m sure Ty heard him, but was obviously going through something emotionally difficult (raising his sister from the dead) and so I feel as though this is call back to that. Ty has loved Kit all this time- and kit hasn’t known it.
I also feel like “I love you & you haven’t known it” would be a great confession for an angsty love confession!! It really does represent things of miscommunication and or silent devotion.
While I do strongly believe that this refers back to Kit and there relationship, I also like to overanalyse on what else it might be about. Ty’s story in TWP is definitely one that’s going to be very emotional, especially all things considering the Livvy plot. And so I think this phrase also kind of has some hints of secrecy to it, which is a big part of Ty’s character arc this book. So I think it could refer back to that. Also depending on how him and Livvy’s relationship goes (which I can talk about for hours), I think it could also refer back to that.
Ty blackthorn IK you’ll make me cry during this series </3
