Barely twenty years earlier, Cardinal Petrucci had been secretly strangled and his servants publicly hanged, drawn and quartered over claims they had conspired to kill Pope Leo X. Gregorio Casali’s guardian, Cardinal Riario, had been accused of complicity in their plot. On 24 May, as yet unaware of Anne Boleyn’s execution, Gregorio wrote to Richard Pate to ask what he knew or thought of the news of her arrest. Many in Rome who had seen Henry’s obsession with Anne as a temporary madness thought that her fall signified a means to open discussions with the king.

THE PRINCESS DIARIES ♚

24 NOVEMBER 2023 || SEBBY'S CORNER, BARNET

The Princess of Wales visited Sebby's Corner in Barnet to kickstart an initiative from The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood to provide support to families with young children in the run up to Christmas.

The visit follows the publication of The Centre for Early Childhoo's "Issues Index," which found that a third of the general public citefinancial pressuresthe biggest issue facing parents and carers in 2023.

During her visit, Catherine heard about the crucial work baby banks do across the UK to get essential items to families, including clothing, nappies, toiletries, and baby equipment.

She also met mothers who have been supported by the charity as well as the referral partner who made the referral. She joined volunteers and Shaping Us champion, Giovanna Fletcher, in putting the final touches to Sebby's annual Christmas Grotto. The Christmas Grotto provides a space where families who are struggling the chance to choose gifts for their children.

Finally, Catherine joined a conversation with representatives from Baby Banks from across the UK to discuss the increasing demand for their services.
