Bayek meeting Desmond?

Like, Desmond gets transported back to Egyptian times and becomes a merchant or protector of some small town, and Bayek comes waltzing through.

They meet and Desmond (who may be a bit thick) doesn't connect the Hidden Ones/Assassin/Medjay relationship. And Bayek just sees this guy who might be Greek and obviously isn't Egyptian protecting this small Egyptian town. Chaos ensues.

Romance may bloom?

It would be possible for Desmond to not put two and two together because he’s never even heard of the Hidden Ones and only saw Amunet’s statue as a ‘proto-Assassin’.

There’s also this sense of loyalty he feels towards the ‘Assassin Brotherhood’ as a title because of his Bleed of Altaïr.

As far as he knows, their Creed started with the Brotherhood.

And the Hidden Ones do their best to stay out of sight after what had happened before in Sinai.

It also helps that the small town he decided to dig his roots in was an out of the way peaceful town.

They rarely get visitors and, even when they do, those people turn out to either be a relative of one or more of the townspeople or a traveler who got lost.

Desmond got a small house with a small plot of land that can be converted to farmland by saving the son of the village chief who had been chased by a pack of wild animals and had to climb a tree in fear.

Desmond had just been passing by, debating if he should try his luck in going to what would later be called Levant or to just… stop somewhere and try to build a life there.

He was so tired.

So very tired.

And the people of the town had been kind to him. They didn’t ask why he was traveling all by himself.

They even stopped asking about his past after Desmond told them it was a ‘not a kind one’.

And now, here he was…

Working on his farm using the knowledge he had from the small farm that the Farm had, the books Altaïr and Ezio had read during their lifetime about agriculture and the tips and suggestions from his neighbors and fellow townspeople.

And one day…

He appears.

Bayek of Siwa.

He calls himself a traveler.

A few drinks later and he admits to being the last Medjay, traveling the lands to ensure its peace and to help those who need a hand.

Desmond had simply been in the village’s house with most of the men because they wished to present a united front in front of a traveler armed to the teeth.

Desmond saw his missing ring finger and thought of it as a coincidence.

Then…

Their paths intersect once more while Desmond was out in the wilderness near the town, bow in hand and quiver filled with arrows to hunt.

They met by accident and Bayek admits that he heard there were ruins nearby.

Desmond heard the tale, of course.

An ancient city, deep underground, holding the ground from caving in and burying everything with strong stable pillars too many to count.

Desmond has heard of the tales.

And he knew the name.

To be more exact…

His Bleed of Altaïr knew of the name…

Imar.

The fabled City of Pillars.

He also knows that this city was supposed to be somewhere in Levant or near Levant, not here in Egypt.

The tale the villagers would tell their children was that it wasn’t a city.

It was an underground road that would lead to the fabled city.

Desmond never saw anything, not even his Eagle Vision could find anything of interest in this town or anywhere nearby.

The most interesting thing his Eagle Vision had pinged was the gold in the village chief’s house and that was actually the chest where he stored the funds he would use to maintain the towns’ buildings and roads.

But if this man believes he can find that city then Desmond felt the need to follow him.

Because if there really was an underground city or a road that would lead to it nearby?

That could only mean…

There was an Isu facility nearby.

… and perhaps a POE as well.

Cue a DLC-length storyline of Bayek looking for an underground city with a mysterious young man who seems to embody the core principles of a Hidden One.

K. On the edge of consciousness.

Yusuf wakes slowly, so slowly that he can’t see and isn’t even sure he can open his eyes, only half-sure he still has eyes, and that’s how he knows there’s something very, very wrong. He can’t move, can’t hear, can’t even smell anything. He doesn’t remember exactly what happened to him, but every part of him is burning, and he’s fairly sure the weird aching sensation in his head is his skull knitting itself back together, which. He really, really didn’t need to know what that feels like. 

There’s a scraping in his chest when he breathes in, but at least he’s breathing. 

Where is he? He could be anywhere. He could be in the middle of the street, could have been dragged away from the fighting from someone who had seen him breathing through a wound that should have killed him immediately. When he wakes, what will he find? Will they have taken his weapon? How long has he been dead? 

Will Nicolò be able to find him, if they are separated? Will he even try?

Slowly but steadily, he starts to hear something: a high pitched whistling that sounds like it’s coming from deep inside his own head. The darkness begins to lift, leaving flickering amber lights across his vision, and a shadow in front of him. 

There’s a voice, too, one that sharpens into words as Yusuf’s hearing begins to return. He doesn’t understand their meaning, but the cadence of them and the voice itself is familiar. 

“Are you awake?” Nicolò asks softly, switching to Arabic. 

Yusuf tries to make a sound in response. Whether it’s audible he doesn’t know, because the only noise he can really make is a rasping exhale, but Nicolò hushes him anyway.

“Do not… you can be slow,” Nicolò says. He’s more comfortable with the sounds of the language now, but still doesn’t always string sentences together well. “We are safe. I am here.”

He’s made aware of where his hand is by the feeling of Nicolò reaching for it. Yusuf manages to make an actual sound this time, but still can’t form words. Nicolò squeezes his hand gently. 

“I am here,” he says again. 

Eventually, Yusuf’s skull seems to piece itself back together fully, and his vision sharpens, letting him see that they’re backed into the corner of the two remaining intact walls of a house ravaged by fire, Nicolò crouched in front of him with his sword in hand. There’s a trail of blood leading to where Yusuf is lying now, and a section of the room that has collapsed. He can piece together enough. Nicolò would have had to drag him over here.

This time, he manages to make a sound, even if he can’t quite form words. Nicolò looks down at him over his shoulder, and there is blood on his face and in his hair, and only then does Yusuf notice the bodies in the room. 

“Okay?” Nicolò asks. 

Yusuf manages to nod, and it sends a spike of pain along his spine. Nicolò turns slightly to look at him properly. 

“You are almost done, I think,” he says. “You did not… you were asleep for a long time. I did not know if…”

“Nicolò,” Yusuf finally manages, hoarse.

“Rest,” Nicolò says. “I am here.”

I had a nice talk with @teriiblog about my aokabu being married fic, and although we got kabu's hand placement wrong in our excitement, it still got me thinking: what if, after aokabu got married, kabu changed his battle pose by laying his left hand (with his wedding ring on!) over his heart, instead of his right one (which showed the galar league symbol on his glove)? It could become a way for kabu to show his devotion for larry, even if they could still live in their respective regions after tying the knot? 😭💖

Kabu could keep this very same battle pose, just that he'll exchange his right hand over his left one! 🥺🥺🥺 the galar league might not mind it too, especially if this change in kabu's pose takes place in leon's leadership! 💗

It would be cool too see Sonic Dynamax and what moves he could have access too. I imagine it would be a mix of Fighting, Flying, and Electric G-Max moves.

Knowing Sonic he would probably be down for seeing if he could harness Dynamax Energy, also Tails would be nerding out over the possibility.

It would be a good reason too head to Trainer's home world and shove off too Galar so Tails could better study Dynamax Spots and Dynamax Den's

Sonic just re-enacting the Giant Battles from Dream Team and Bowser's Inside Story, lol. He would jump at the chance especially if it means the Blue Blur can spar with Dynamax Pokemon. Plus the rare possibility of using it against Eggman will be hilarious.

Don't think egghead can call him 'Puny Little Hedgehog' if Sonic makes himself big enough to toss something like the Egg Dragoon softball style.

Short Answer:

Hey there! I just noticed your blog and I came to ask something! I’m glad you took notice of the gym challenger NPCs in Galar, and I was wondering about something, what are your thoughts on Pia, Deneb, Kent, and Yue? Do you have any headcanond about them, and if they had a bigger role in the Sword and Shield storyline, what would you have done?

FINALLY. AFTER ALL THIS TIME. SOMEONE ASKS ABOUT THE GYM CHALLENGER NPCS.

God it's been so long since I've even thought of them that I fear I might not remember my specific hcs, let alone their given personalities, but I'll try!!!!

Pia

MY GIRL PIA

Of all the gym challenger npcs, she's the only one who was able to make it to the semi finals...quarter finals? She's the one who is beaten by Hop before he faces the player! The fact that she even made it that far with just grass types is hella impressive!!!!

I've always seen Pia as a steady force. Stern, focused, but kind and willing to guide others if needed. She also isn't a stick in the mud, either! Just that she takes the gym challenge pretty seriously.

She's a gym trainer of Milo's gym, and was thus, nominated by him to go on the gym challenge. She seems to be a bit exasperated by him based on her dialogue in game, so I imagine working with Milo is something else, hehe. Enough for her to be just slightly annoyed ( though maybe it's also he believed in her enough to even do the gym challenge, haha! Pia seems like someone who is really humble, so recognizing her own achievements and skill might be hard for her)

I've always imagined her, Deneb and Dunne to be a trio! Two orange-brown haired idiots and their green haired friend that keeps them out of trouble.

Oh, yeah, and Deneb and her get into a relationship :)

One last thing: in general I don't really see the npcs getting super involved with the plot, but I can see Pia being like a semi mentor figure the player and Hop would encounter now and again. Someone older who's respected and kind.

Deneb

SPEAKING OF DENEB!!! Deneb my energetic athletic queen. This woman has a can do attitude about everything! Nothing can get her down. The gym challenge actively tests that, but it's fiiiiine.

I believe in game she said she's from kanto? ( checks) yep! she's from kanto! She also says she's from the fighting dojo, which means the place is still running lol

She kinda feels like a fish out of water, not only being from a different region, but just culturally speaking Galar is. Very different from Kanto. Much more flashy. A lot more eyes on you. But despite all that, she still carries one with a big ol grin and fierce determination!

She actually stopped the gym challenge around the same time as Dunne- around Piers gym. Between all the weird stuff that's been going around, plus just Spikemuth not being open, it was kinda a big morale dive. Still she doesn't regret it - she brought word of the fighting dojo in kanto, and she got to really bond with her pokemon. All in all, she's satisfied~

As for how her and Pia got together, I just like to think them traveling together with Deneb's energetic optimism and Pia's steadiness is what ultimately brought them together. Poor Dunne is a third wheel in all of this lol.

I think she does return to Kanto after the gym season has died down, but she and Pia still maintain their relationship. Maybe one moves to the other's region at some point?

Kent

I'm really sorry Kent, I do not have much for the guy, mainly bc I. Do not remember his quotes. So we're going off vibes and ignoring whatever he says canonically.

Kent, when I first saw him, gave me the vibe of honestly a good young lad.

Outside of the player, I always saw him as the youngest of the NPC trainers. Maybe in his late teens?

He's a sweetheart, always wanting to prove himself and be helpful to others!

Yue

Unlike Kent I do remember a small few hcs for her.

Her and Wei I hc as siblings!

Yue is.... Honestly a perfectionist lol. She likes to keep things clean and precise - this extends to herself greatly.

She tends to be very hard on herself when she doesn't reach a certain expectation. Compared to her brother's callous confidence, she uptight and insecure.

She loves food, but is insecure by how much she eats.

I don't remember when exactly she stopped appearing....I think maybe around Kabu's gym?

Her and Phoebus are friends :) I like to think Phoebus is a chef and encouraged Yue to simply enjoy her food instead of fretting over it ( note: I'm considering Yue being a picky eater, and if that's the case, he'll offer to cook her specific meals to her liking :) )

To me they aren't siblings but they DO tend to act like they are. Bea is often pretty kind and protective of Allister and in turn Allister is more talkative and cheeky around her.

I'm often regarded as the first real roadblock of Galar's Gym Challenge. As such, I've watched many a dispirited Trainer abandon the Gym Challenge after losing to me... When Trainers actually managed to defeat me, I make a point to see them off when they leave Motostoke.

Where there are winners, there are losers... That's the harsh reality of battling. But hanging your head and moping won't change anything! Just like how fire burns upwards, when things are tough, keep your head high!

Maintaining a career as a Trainer doesn't juat mean staying sharp in battles— you have to tend to your health as well! Eating, exercising, sleeping... Your day-to-day life is a part of your training as well!
