Just uhhh. Just btw? For the moment, I'm doing most of my writing on discord bc my brain refuses to handle the extra bandwidth of tumblr.
Ask about it if you want.

So not only was this week my first week of school in almost a decade, but I also had a pet die out of the blue. So bear with me as I readjust to my new normal.

loyalty is the saint you pray to. if you ever were stabbed in the back by your beloved, you'd probably apologize. to your enemies, you're fierce. to your allies, even fiercer. you cultivate a thick inner circle built on promises and devotion, fit only for the best of the best. it's impossible for most to even begin to dissect the type of person you are, owing to your unbreakable emotional walls and confusing philosophies. dream careers? body guard, movie star, unwitting pawn. don't let people get the best of that loyalty.

“How can you not be angry?”
“I am angry,” the werewolf said. “But unlike you, I don’t have the luxury of showing it without being called a monster. Without someone taking it as a sign of proof that I need to be put down like a rabid dog, that I’m just like what the stories tell you.”
“But everyone gets angry…that’s human.”
“Up until the point when you’re not human.”

↳ Send 🫦 for a New year's kiss. Accepting.
Tumblr media
Assumptions are one of the greatest tools on offer. If not for use as an eventual weapon, then certainly as a plaything. As they so often seem to forget, Solas is most certainly not the stodgy scholar he allows them to think he is; beneath lies a certain amount of the impish trickster some knew him to be. Perhaps not in the context of confounding those around him, but therein lies beauty. Often, he can get away with a great deal of mischief and have others refuse to believe it was him.
This night, drinks were passed around in celebration of the new year upcoming. It seems as if the whole of the Inquisition is in varying stages of inebreation, yet Solas himself, though several glasses of wine in, barely feels the effects. Most of the night, he's been a quiet observer of the party; they never were his preference to begin with, but they had their place to raise the spirits of a working body. And, at least, he could usually find ways of entertaining himself.
The hour of the new year fast approaches, and finally, the veritable ghost among men decides to grace his companions with his presence once more. He knew the tradition, or had at least heard of it from the excited chattering of passers by. Sharing a kiss at midnight. No doubt, most assumed Solas of all people wouldn't participate. Mere minutes before, however, he stops at Merril's side, leaning in so that only she can hear his words as he whispers them.
"Would you care to incite a little confusion with me...?"
A plan set between they two and left to bloom in the minutes that passed. The countdown begins, and as the crowd begins to cheer, he makes a show of bringing Merril into his arms for a new year's kiss -- only to bid them all goodnight just as soon as he's released her. That ought to give them plenty to fuss over for the next few days.

@venombloom asked: how would you react?
↳ Alistair Therein Starters.
Tumblr media
Had Rook been less willing to listen to his words in conversations past, it might have been disdain that the wolf regards her with -- but Daisy has proven herself an adequate listener, and so it's with measured consideration alone that she's met. There are plenty of options with which to answer; what she might wish to hear, what would garner the result Solas himself desires, the truth, or something otherwise completely fabricated to mask that which many before her considered part of his worse nature. Which would be most beneficial? Most natural?
"For a start, I might have gone with less insistence on calling them 'gods.'" They two have shared plenty of jabs such as this; he otherwise wouldn't have been willing to let that side of him show. "Beyond that, I would be considering how useful this First Warden may be going forward versus how likely he is to change his mind, and how great a roadblock he will present should he remain stalwart in the face of your request."
If any were to understand a ruthless blade through to the path of what's necessary, it was likely to be a Crow. "Ultimately, however, it is you who must live with the consequence and memory of your decisions. Are you willing to follow through with your promise of 'by any means necessary'?"

The shocking amount of similarities between Captain Jack Sparrow and Solas are truly fascinating if you stop to think about them: an essay I probably won't write.

I'm being so fr rn when I say that binding the veil to himself is very far from a good end for Solas -- and don't you fucking @ me with that redemption bullshit. He's a person who chronically cuts off pieces of himself for the benefit of the people he cares about, and you're asking him to not only do so again [when he arguably has almost nothing left to cut off] bc the best he could do to keep the world from being plagued to death didn't end up being a good long term option ( I remind you again that the veil was failing even before he woke up, and note that doing some fucked up shit to a handful of people to try and prevent as much global devastation as he can is in no way equivalent to being put in isolation in a prison of mental torment until the veil eventually falls apart ) but also it literally doesn't fix anything???
Solas isn't innocent but like why are we acting like adding to his psychological torment is a good thing. Especially when he'll flat out tell the Inquisitor that he 100% doesn't expect to survive dealing with the Evanuris / veil issue in the first place.
