Just curious Red, how exactly would you go about with the ai in class bit?
I have some friends who have to use ai in class (this one for valid reasons, it’s a compsci class about machine intelligence and looking at ai specifically) and then I’ve also had to use ai at one point for a class as the teacher was trying it out (I found it interesting, but doubted I’d use it again)
tbh I'd give it the most bonkers prompts I can think of and act like its results made total sense, or deliberately use results I knew were flawed or wrong.
But maybe don't always listen to me, I was always the one trying to out-clever the class assignments by doing things just one step to the left and skewed of what I was told to do. XD

saying let's get married;
domestic and sweet moments during the first year of newly-wed life (f!reader) <3
Tumblr media
KUROO — "my wife" this and "my wife" that to the point where all his friends and coworkers are groaning and saying we get it, man! you're married now! his dorky nonfiction books taking up all the space on the nightstand. helping him tame his bed hair when he wakes up and is trying to get ready for work. created a powerpoint presentation where he told you he was going to give you the most epic promotion of a lifetime (the powerpoint was themed to mimic an HR presentation describing new employee benefits and perks, along with what the new position would consist of; the final slide asked "do you accept the position of being tetsurou kuroo's wife? limited time bonus offer includes a diamond ring!")
OSAMU — doesn't know how to fold your clothes properly (it's not weaponized incompetence, he just doesn't understand why your tops have these many strings and components to them). tries out all his new recipes with you as his taste-testing guinea pigs. during your wedding reception, atsumu asked you who was cuter: him or osamu. on your off days from your job, you go to onigiri miya and help him close down the shop. blowing bubbles at him from the soap that foams up when you're washing the dishes. him knowing where you're most ticklish and using it against you every time he asks you for a minor favor.
BOKUTO — asks you about kid names before he even pops the question. wants you to quiz him on your family tree because he so badly wants to impress them when he's meeting them (he then asks for a quiz on your extended family once the wedding date is scheduled). gets excited when he sees those corny tiktoks that claim "these initials are soulmates" and he sees yours and his initials paired together; he'll send you those tiktoks and go "babe, look!!! i told u we were meant to be!!" brings you up any time he can, whether it's in regular conversation with friends, small talk with a cashier, a meet n greet with a fan, or a post-game interview. loves to do push-ups with you on his back.
OIKAWA — makes a vision board at the beginning of the year, except the main image is a horribly photoshopped picture of your head pasted on some stock photo of a bride. he was showing you something on his phone, and the notification from his jeweler announcing that your engagement ring was ready for pick up popped up and he nearly dropped his phone while trying to hurriedly swipe away the notification whilst shielding his screen from you. gets all pouty and wants to be the little spoon; will also start asking you "baaaabe, would you still love me if i was a worm?" saw you in the stands booing his opposing team, and whistled, exclaiming "that's my girl!" panics when he sees strands of his hair on the bathroom floor; proceeds to ask you if you'll still be with him even if he becomes bald. then asks if you'll pay for his hair transplant (as a joke; you never use your card when you're with him).

an angels guide to: holiday dinner parties ˚₊‧꒰ა 𓂋 ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
if there’s one thing i love it’s hosting! especially dinner parties with a theme meaning holiday dinner parties are my fave. this year ive already scheduled one christmas dinner party and am hoping to plan another. here are some tips focused on hosting advice, food and dr
ink, entertainment and outfits! enjoy angels and happy holidays!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hosting advice `` ~ ୨୧ ♡ ·
organise early. there’s nothing worse than wanting to host but leaving it last minute so people can't come. plan your guest list and see what dates would work best for people!
think carefully about your guest list. it’s always a good idea to either invite people who all know each other or a mix of people some who know each other and some who don’t - the last thing you want is two or three guests sitting alone!
invite for the vibe you want. the dinner im hosting is small and intimate, i don’t want it to feel frantic or overly busy so ive kept my guest list reflecting that!
make a pinterest board.
find cute diys to make. things like table decorations, guests charts etc!
set the mood! light some candles, put on some music and make sure the space is clean and organised.
create a playlist - specially for the event!
make invites to send out. this is so cute and fun! digital invites are so easy to do and so adorable as are physical ones.
plan a time you want guests to arrive by at the earliest and at the latest. e.g earliest is six so latest is seven! that way you know when would be good to serve food or start activities.
food and drink `` ~ ୨୧ ♡ ·
plan your menu in advance - make sure you know all your guests dietary requirements!
keep it simple with snacks. shop brought cheeses, crackers, spreads and any other kinds of elegant snacks are always delicious and so easy to make look cute on a platter. plus they save you time!
create a cocktail or mocktail for the evening!
make your dessert ahead when possible. mousses, tiramisu, cakes and anything like that are always so perfect and crowd pleasers and can be easily made ahead.
make cute menu sheets. these are so fun and pretty to look at!!
it’s better to keep your menu simple and delicious than overly complex and risk messing it up.
plan your food around a theme! for example all japanese cuisine or love themed food for valentines day.
entertainment `` ~ ୨୧ ♡ ·
pick some board/card games to play all together.
plan activities based around the weather. if its really cold or rainy a cute movie night might be better! whereas if its warm or sunny an outdoor dance space or sports game may be more enjoyable.
plan for a range of activities - people arent always going to be up for everything!
suggest guests bring activities. people love feeling involved and this way you can ensure an activity will be popular and fun for everyone.
look on pinterest/tiktok/instagram for suggestions. for example, hosting a powerpoint night is so so enjoyable and funny.
set the night around a themed activity - such as a murder mystery dinner party or a costume dinner party!
bring a digital camera - such a cute way of capturing the night and you can make a scrapbook or photobook afterwards.
find a craft! at the dinner party im hosting around christmas we will be decorating gingerbread houses but there are so many other ideas such as painting, candle making, journaling or decorating items.
outfits/styling tips `` ~ ୨୧ ♡ ·
find a cute makeup look on pinterest to fit your theme! i love a glittery fairy inspired look for christmas parties.
make sure you have an apron or that your outfit wont show any potential mess - remember you may be in and out of the kitchen!
wear something that makes you feel pretty and confident.
find an elegant way of styling your hair - a simple updo or pretty braid can make you look ready for a more dressy occasion.
commit fully to your theme/evening vibes. as the host its so important to make sure all of your guests feel like they can dress up or try something different and feel comfortable!
accessories like bows, hairclips, rings, bracelets, necklaces, hair scarfs or pretty hairties and cute shoes can really make an outfit stand out.
either have a layer on you or a layer you can easily take on and off in case the temperature changes.
make sure you plan time for a shower or bath and are able to do your fully selfcare routine! it will help you feel at peace and less stressed for the dinner ahead.
thank you for reading angels - let me know if any of you are hosting a dinner party or any tips you have!! i love this time of year and its such a great opportunity to see friends and families. remember a dinner party can be as big or small as you like, in fact you could have a dinner party just for yourself in order to treat you! whatever you get up to im sure youll be the most wonderful of hosts.
love, m.

❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒ 𝗽𝗿𝗼 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮'𝘀
having good grades doesn't necessarily mean you're smart, a test or exam can't always determine someone's intelligence, but it's academic validation we crave, right? so here are some tips thanks to which you will get straight a's.
𝟭. understand what the professor wants ( 🪼 )
learning the entire book by heart is tiring and basically useless. we take our education seriously, but it's impossible to know everything about everything, so inevitably there will be topics we can gloss over. check old tests, listen to the teacher during the lecture, talk to students who have already attended the course and passed the exam. understand which aspects your professor particularly cares about and concentrate on those, your exam will certainly go well.
𝟮. strengthen your memorization ( 🦋 )
very often the amount of things to study is just too much and, even though you spend all day in the library rereading the topics again and again, you feel that it is not enough. you get confused, you forget steps, you get lost in the labyrinth of the subject. investing in understanding your form of memorization will benefit you in the long run. identify your type of memory (spatial, photographic, echoic, etc.) and focus on how to improve it. having a good memory will make your studying for the exam much faster and easier.
𝟯. pay attention in class ( 🫧 )
attend all lectures and take notes. much of your studying comes from your professor's lecture. underline the important things in your textbook, carefully follow their speech and - if there are any - their powerpoint slides, writing only the things that the teacher adds and which are not written either in the book or in the extra material, if necessary, record the lesson so you can listen to it again at a later time.
𝟰. organize your notes the same day ( 🧃 )
when i take notes in class i write badly and quickly to keep up with the teacher, shortening words or omitting passages.  by reorganizing your notes that same evening (at most the next day, if you really don't have time) you can revise your work when the lesson is still fresh in your mind; if you wait too long, you will forget most of the things and you will find yourself staring blankly at pages of notes which, at that point, will seem more like hieroglyphics to you than anything else.
𝟱. use ai responsibly ( 🪴 )
artificial intelligence is everywhere nowadays and why not use it to our advantage? of course i'm not suggesting that you let an ai take care of all your tests and essays, it wouldn't make sense, however very often it helped me make a list of key points to develop in a research paper, or gave me excellent ideas and insights for projects. they can also be used to create flashcards, summarize and simplify articles, or create practice tests based on the material you will have to study.
𝟲. delve deeper into your “whys” ( 🌾 )
sometimes when i study i stare into space and wonder why i am studying something that seems completely irrelevant to my path. i'm sure it happens to you too, don't ignore this feeling. don't be afraid to explore themes and topics that aren't clear to you, if two statements seem contradictory ask yourself why, if you don't understand some passages, don't be afraid to ask a question. we study for ourselves, before studying to graduate, to work. there is no shame in not understanding, your intelligence lies in striving to clarify what seems obscure.

Elucien Week - Ways to Participant
Tumblr media
With only two weekends left before Elucien Week begins, now's the time to start really focusing on your project(s)!
We know that fanart and fanfiction get a lot of attention during event weeks - but what about the folks who don't draw or write, or simply don't have the time? Well the good news is there's still plenty of fun and creative ways you can participate in the event, so we've put together a short list you can take inspiration from!
Make an event-themed Playlist - You could choose to create a public playlist using a music service such as Spotify, make a bullet list on tumblr, or even put the songs together on a cute graphic (there's even a free elucien-themed template you can use here!)
Create a Moodboard - Websites like Canva have a lot of free templates you can use to put together moodboards, or you can even make a photo grid in tumblr! Just try your best to source your photos ethically and give credit to any fanartists if using their content!
Share a theory - If you're looking for inspiration, consider leaning into one of our prompts. Most theories strive to answer a question, such as: Does Lucien actually own a moon on a string? Remember that it can be as serious or satircal as you'd like!
Bullet your favorite headcanons - You can take inspiration from our daily prompts, from the fic that you've always wanted to write inside your head, or from the countless number of prompt lists that you can find on tumblr (like this one or this one)
Create a Fic Recommendation List - Slap together all your favorite fics or curate a list using filters from Archive of Our Own. If you wanted to put them in a graphic, there's a free template you can use here!
Make a Powerpoint - Have you ever heard of Powerpoint Night? Try opening up a Google Slide and putting together an Elucien themed presentation that answers the important questions like - what outfits would Elain wear in a modern AU? Or - What would Lucien's tinder bio look like?
Create an Online Activity - websites like Kahoot or Quizlet or puzzel.org allow you to put together customizable quizes and puzzle games you can share!
Engage with the community! - We strongly believe this is the most important and rewarding way you can contribute to Elucien Week, regardless of your blog-size or how often you plan to post during the week. Liking, reblogging, and commenting on as many creations as you can will not only be so meaningful to the people working on those projects, it will also serve in fostering a supportive and uplifting atmosphere!

Is There Actually A Media Literacy Crisis?
Tumblr media
Something I am thinking about a lot is that supposed "media literacy crisis" that people talk about a lot online. Some people say it is real, some people say it isn't.
Of course I am in the strange condition of not being American and this discussion focusing mostly on America. Talking to some of my bald eagle loving friends, I know that most Americans get way less media analysis taught in schools than us Germans. Like, I kid you not: All I did in German and English and history class between 7th and 13th grade was analyse texts and pictures. NOTHING ELSE. And how that was very dependent on the teacher in terms of how much media literacy I actually learned would be a topic for another day. But I know that a lot of my US friends did some analysis, yes, but comparatively little.
I will openly say one thing: Despite being pushed through so much literary analysis in school, I probably learned more about media analysis thanks to the internet than I ever learned in school. Because while we did it a lot. Well, it was basically the quality of content that the Japanese schools have when it comes to learning English. Do they start in primary school? Yes. Do they then absolutely fail on building on the vocabulary and all? Absolutely.
In history class we did a lot of analysis of historical propaganda. But do you think we ever spoke about framing? Just as a very accute example.
I would however not quite argue that we have a media literacy crisis really. More... Well, I would say we have four other problems that are seperate from one another - but that will contribute to it appearing as if people are media illeterate.
People do generally not think about or inform themselves how the media they consume is created. They are not really aware of what goes into the production of a piece of media, that has more complex behind-the-scenes scenarios than a book. Movies, TV shows and games are the most notable example here. As such, folks are often not quite able to see how the influence of several different people working on a project can be felt - let alone be able to analyse how that might have influenced the end product.
A lot of the most widely marketed media is very much created by coorporations to extract money. While some of the people involved might have had something to say, the studio producing it just wanted to make something that they can sell, which often results in some watering down of more complex themes. Through this people have kinda forgotten to even expect themes in their media. (Yes, this is very much about the MCU and most of AAA gaming.)
Because half of the discussion of any piece of media now takes place in the arena of the culture war, people often just reduce themes - if they are there - to very superficial culture war readings. And this happens on both sides of the isle. While the on the right we have idiots going "they hate white men", because a movie does not have a white male protagonist, the other side will go "this is sexist" because in a show of mostly female characters, a female character died.
People just do not have the time currently to actually sit with a piece of media and everyone in the industry knows it. A lot of media is created to be "second screen content", aka, something that you watch on your TV while you are in home office and working on that stupid powerpoint. And of course you cannot really interact with that media the same, you would, if you watched it on a first screen basis, right?
And of course, then there is the fandom side of things. Because yes, the entire proshipping and antishipping thing is also very much a media literacy problem, that mostly originates with, well... How should I say?
It originates with the same stuff like the rightwing leftwing culture war: From people not touch grass. From people not being aware that the folks that scream so loud online are actually a minority. And most people who will ever engage with a given piece of media will just never write something on tumblr, reddit or twitter about this piece of media. They will just consume it... and move on.

PSA: Free Software
Reading this may really save your time, privacy, and money! Reblog or share to spread awareness!
Folks often use software that’s expensive and sometimes even inferior because they don’t know there are alternatives. So to those unfamiliar: basically, free and open-source (FOSS) or "libre" software is free to use and anyone can access the original code to make their own version or work on fixing problems.
That does not mean anyone can randomly add a virus and give it to everyone—any respectable libre project has checks in place to make sure changes to the official version are good! Libre software is typically developed by communities who really care about the quality of the software as a goal in itself.
There are libre alternatives to many well-known programs that do everything an average user needs (find out more under the cut!) for free with no DRM, license keys, or subscriptions.
Using libre software when possible is an easy way to fight against and free yourself from corporate greed while actually being more convenient in many cases! If you need an app to do something, perhaps try searching online for things like:
foss [whatever it is]
libre [whatever it is]
open source [whatever it is]
Feel free to recommend more libre software in the tags, replies, comments, or whatever you freaks like to do!
Some Libre Software I Personally Enjoy…
LibreOffice
LibreOffice is an office suite, much like Microsoft Office. It includes equivalents for apps like Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, which can view and edit files created for those apps.
Tumblr media
I can't say I've used it much myself yet. I do not personally like using office software except when I have to for school.
OpenShot
OpenShot Video Editor is, as the name suggests, a video editing program. It has industry-standard features like splicing, layering, transitions, and greenscreen.
Tumblr media
I've only made one video with it so far, but I'm already very happy with it. I had already paid for a video editor (Cyberlink PowerDirector Pro), but I needed to reinstall it and I didn't remember how. Out of desperation, I searched up "FOSS video editor" and I'm so glad I did. There's no launcher, there's no promotion of other apps and asset packs—it's just a video editor with a normal installer.
GIMP
GNU Image Manipulation Program is an image editor, much like Photoshop. Originally created for Linux but also available for Windows and MacOS, it provides plenty of functionality for editing images. It is a bit unintuitive to learn at first, though.
Tumblr media
I've used it to create and modify images for years, including logos, really bad traceover art, and Minecraft textures. It doesn't have certain advanced tech like AI paint-in, but it has served my purposes well and it might just work for yours!
(Be sure to go to Windows > Dockable Dialogs > Colors. I have no idea why that's not enabled by default.)
Audacity
Audacity is an audio editing program. It can record, load, splice, and layer audio files and apply effects to them.
Tumblr media
Audacity is another program I've used for a long time. It is not designed to compose music, but it is great for podcasts, simple edits, and loading legacy MS Paint to hear cool noises.
7-Zip
7-Zip is a file manager and archive tool. It supports many archive types including ZIP, RAR, TAR, and its own format, 7Z. It can view and modify the contents of archives, encrypt and decrypt archives, and all that good stuff.
Tumblr media
Personally, I use 7-Zip to look inside JAR files for Minecraft reasons. I must admit that its UI is ugly.
Firefox
Firefox is an internet browser, much like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari. While browsers are free, many of them include tracking or other anti-consumer practices. For example, Google plans to release an update to Chromium (the base that most browsers are built from these days) that makes ad blockers less effective by removing the APIs they currently rely on.
Tumblr media
Aside from fighting monopolies, benefits include: support for animated themes (the one in the picture is Purple Night Theme), good ad blockers forever, an (albeit hidden) compact UI option (available on about:config), and a cute fox icon.
uBlock Origin
As far as I know, uBlock Origin is one of the best ad blockers there is.
Tumblr media
I was on a sketchy website with my brother, and he was using Opera GX's ad blocker. Much of the time when he clicked on anything, it would take us to a random sponsored page. I suggested that he try uBlock Origin, and with uBlock Origin, that didn't happen anymore.
Linux
Linux is a kernel, but the term is often used to refer to operating systems (much like Windows or MacOS) built on it. There are many different Linux-based operating systems (or "distros") to choose from, but apps made for Linux usually work on most popular distros. You can also use many normally Windows-only apps on Linux through compatibility layers like WINE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have all four of these, so the images are from Wikipedia. I tried to show a variety of Linux distros made for different kinds of users.
If you want to replace your operating system, I recommend being very careful because you can end up breaking things. Many computer manufacturers don't care about supporting Linux, meaning that things may not work (Nvidia graphic cards notoriously have issues on Linux, for example).
Personally, I tried installing Pop!_OS on a laptop, and the sound output mysteriously doesn't work. I may try switching to Arch Linux, since it is extremely customizable and I might be able to experiment until I find a configuration where the audio works.
Many Linux distros offer "Live USB" functionality, which works as both a demo and an installer. You should thoroughly test your distro on a Live USB session before you actually install it to be absolutely sure that everything works. Even if it seems fine, you should probably look into dual-booting with your existing operating system, just in case you need it for some reason.
Happy computering!

Note: This story will not have a part 2
Summary: The team gathers for your weekly PowerPoint presentation that holds a small surprise for them this week.
It was Friday night and that could mean only one thing.
It was time for your weekly PowerPoint presentation.
Everyone was forced to attend and watch even though almost every time it was just a stupid presentation based on the weirdest and most useless things.
You looked around the room excited, oblivious to the fact that all the people in that room were bored and surely would want to be in any other place rather than here.
You had again gathered everyone: The Avengers, The Guardians of the Galaxy, The Agents from S.H.I.E.L.D., and even Fury was there.
Literally everyone.
"Welcome y'all to my new presentation!" You cheerfully shouted as you took your place in front of a big screen where your presentation was going to be displayed
You deliberately chose to ignore the sighs that came from different parts of the room and carried on with the introduction.
"I would like to start by saying that, I know for a fact that, you are going to absolutely enjoy this presentation." You stepped a little to the side so the screen was now fully visible
Natasha, your mom, was for sure tired of this weekly tradition but she was your mother so she had to sit through all of the boring presentations and support you. Acting very interested in whatever nonsense you were explaining.
"Baby, if this is like your last presentation about 'How to tie your shoes with your mouth without using your hands', I think you should know that we have a mission to go to." Natasha looked at you as she kept her head in her hands
Even Rocket knew what was coming next "Here we go again..." He sighed quietly from the back of the room
"That presentation was to help Bucky tie his shoelace when his metal arm doesn't work!" You shouted hurt by the fact that your mom had the audacity to say that your last presentation was useless "And why is the raccoon talking?!"
Natasha rolled her eyes before looking up at you again "And it did, baby. It really did..." She breathed out "It helped him so much. Right, James?" She turned to look at Bucky
Bucky quickly nodded but said no word.
You picked the remote up from the nearby table and turned on the TV "So, anyways... Today I have the honor to present you..."
Natasha decided to drink some water from her bottle as she waited for this night to come to an end faster.
You pressed a button on the remote and your PowerPoint presentation showed on the screen.
The title written in big black letters in bold.
No one actually paid too much attention to the screen until you read the title out loud yourself.
Using a mechanic voice, like the one from the news to make a big impression, you excitedly read the title clear and loud for every single one of the people in the room to hear.
"'How many people have my Mama slept with and I know about?!'" You shouted excited
Natasha's eyes widened and she choked on the water she was drinking, spitting it all around the floor and table as she started coughing.
Maria quickly started patting Natasha on the back to make sure she was okay.
But as if nothing happened, you kept on talking about the theme you've chosen for tonight's presentation.
You kept talking in the same cheerful tone and as if it wasn't enough, you started to point to the people in question around the room as you changed the slides.
Each person has a slide with photos and information about them. But you felt like it wasn't enough so you added more photos of your mom with the respective person.
"The first one on our list is Bucky. Congrats mate. I know you were her first." You smirked at Bucky as you raised one eyebrow at him "You made my mama a woman from a girl. But to be honest with you, in the present times, you would have gone to jail for doing the nasty with a minor girl while you were like 86 back then."
Bucky detached his metal arm and hid behind it.
This was something he hoped people would never find out and that it would stay just between him and Natasha as a part of their past, as they agreed.
You stopped for a second, confusion written all over your face.
"Wait a minute... If back then you and Mama were together... wouldn't that mean that you're my dad?" You pointed one finger to Bucky
"Long story, kid!" Bucky shouted from behind his arm as his cheeks started to turn into a dark shade of red
You shrugged and kept on talking with the same excited tone but you already had made a mental note to ask Natasha about that later.
"Next we have, Steve!" You excitedly threw your hands in the air "Grandpa knows some moves! Even though I thought he was a virgin at first."
Steve looked terrified at Natasha as you started to play with your hair confused.
But Steve only saw poor Natasha looking like she was about to pass out from embarrassment.
She was just staring at you wide-eyed and with her mouth open from the shock, trying to wrap her mind around what was happening.
"The third one is, Maria!" You smiled as you put your hands on your hips "I've never would have guessed that my mom also liked girls. Her face doesn't show it."
Maria leaned and hid behind Fury.
"But don't think I haven't noticed how you're treating my mama and to be honest, I ship you two." You kept smiling "I'll help you to ask her to marry you. No need to hide it anymore. After all, I know her better than anyone. And Tony might want to work on the soundproofing system because it clearly can't do its job properly anymore."
"Why do you say that, mini Romanoff?" Tony asked amused
"Because, these two..." You pointed in between Natasha and Maria "Are being so loud at night that I can hear them even when they, and I, have the soundproof of the room on. You have no idea how loud can Maria make my mom scream sometimes and it's traumatic. I'm only trying to sleep, guys, but to my bad luck, my room is right next to my mother's."
Thinking about it better, Maria got out from behind Fury's back, who was trying his hardest not to burst out laughing at the embarrassing situation, and slid under the table to hide and stood there for the rest of the presentation.
You shook your head and moved on with the presentation.
"Wanda!" You shouted and smirked at the witch too "You do have some magic fingers, don't you?!"
Wanda quickly tried to cover herself with her magic in an attempt to create some sort of magic shield that would allow her to not be seen.
"Don't worry, Vis." You turned towards Vision, the robot was confused and unsure of what is this all about "She did not cheat on you. It happened before Wanda got together with you so you don't need to worry."
Vision nodded but the fact that people could get so embarrassed only by a presentation was bugging him.
"I think this is enough for the first part of this presentation. You'll get more in the next one." You cheered but didn't tuned off the big screen where the presentation was displayed "But I think that we should also have some honor mentions here."
That sent a wave of shivers among various people all around the room as the rest held their breaths, waiting to see what more could you say next.
"Tony!" You pointed to the man in question with the remote "You get a 7 out of 10 for your attempt of sleeping with my mom when we first met you! I know you've changed your mind only after you found out she has a daughter. Don't hide it!"
Tony put his arms in front of his face to protect himself from Pepper's slaps that he knew were coming.
And he wasn't wrong.
Pepper gasped as she turned to Tony "Anthony Edward Stark!" She shouted in a high-pitched voice
Before Tony got the chance to defend himself, the back of his head was hit by Pepper's hand.
Some serious drama is going to happen between them tonight.
That was clear.
"Carol! 9.5 out of 10! Don't give up, you still have a chance." You gave Carol a thumbs up "But I'll be a little careful of Agent Hill right there under the table. She can get possessive when it comes to Mama and me."
All Carol could do was silently sit in shock.
This presentation has long got out of hand.
"A 0 out of 10 for Bruce." You looked with disgust at the doctor "You and Mama had played enough 'Hide the zucchini'. Luckily it lasted for a short time."
Bruce opened his mouth to say something as he raised a finger but you beat him to it.
"And don't you dare think I don't know what that means!" You pointed outraged at him because you knew he was about to ask you if you knew what that means
Bruce closed his mouth and looked down at the floor like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
With an evil laugh, you moved to the next slide "And last but not least... Sam! –1,000 out of 10. How could you ever believe that my mom was into clowns?!"
Poor Sam burst out crying, clearly hurt by your words.
He still hoped deep down in his heart that your mom would start dating him even though he knows that would never happen.
Turning off the TV you rubbed your hands together clearly trying to imitate Tony whenever he holds a speech.
"That's all for today!" You shouted proud of yourself because tonight's presentation was a total success "Thank you for coming to my weekly presentation. See you next week." You smirked and made finger guns with your hands "To part two of 'How many people have my mama slept with and I know about?!'"
You expected cheers and claps but all you've got was a dead silence.
Looking at your mother, you saw her face as white as the snow and her bright emerald green eyes, now a dark shade of green.
All Natasha managed to breathe out through grinned teeth before she passed out was one word "Run..."
You did not give this chance a second thought and took it, sprinting out of the room with the speed of light.
Poor Natasha got up to run after you but she only got to take one step before passing out from the shame and embarrassment she was feeling.
Of course, Maria was the one to catch her and everyone made sure Natasha was okay before slowly going back to their homes and rooms after she woke up.
That was a fun night indeed.
At least for you.
For your mother... let's say that she'll not get out in public for a long time from now on.

22nd March ‘24 - [arch] Mad About Munch, Warm-up sketches and daaarknesss???
Good evening, Shri! I forgot that it is Friday, but at the beginning of writing this, I have an hour and 27 minutes until Friday is over, so I WILL be on time!
Tumblr media
Wow, like a lot has happened? But I also don’t have tons to show for it. (it’s because I’m working on cool secret project that I’m not allowed to talk about which is fun!)
Stuff i have been doing
Museums :0!!!! I have been travelling and in my old age apparently, I like old art now???
Gathering a lot of reference images - photos, but also general inspiration
Finally organising my digital space a bit! I backed up like 3 years' worth of Procreate images and cleared out half my iPad
Getting some of my sketchbooks, especially comic development, digitised and onto Google Slides! I follow a similar process to when I was at uni still, with a huge PowerPoint for a project that contains reference images, inspiration, plot bullet points, and links to google docs where I write the scripts, development sketches and finals. It makes it super easy to go back to important parts of the development and be reminded of things I might have lost in the development process
Warm-up sketches because you bullied me into it (affectionate)
Continuing to explore colour
2 things I would like to tell you more about: 1) Edvard Munch!!!!!! If you ever get the chance to visit the Munch Museum in Oslo, do it!! I hadn’t seen a whole museum dedicated to one guy before, but seeing so much of his work in one place, in person really helped me understand it better. They also had a fantastic audio tour to rent that made it super accessible. I had just come from thinking about colour last week and becoming more comfortable with darker colours, and I had been thinking about personality and narrative in settings and backgrounds - both of which he does really well. In particular, The Sick Child, Eye in Eye, and The Sun stood out to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) Play. AGAIN!!!!! I feel like I’m constantly having to fight myself, reminding myself to let go, play around, and explore without the expectation of a final outcome. You told me to try some 20 min warm-up and cool-down sketches - which I’ve been doing and has been going great! They’re not all perfect and aren’t supposed to be, but I’ve also had some really fun outcomes that wouldn’t have happened otherwise. I also feel like I’m getting more of a grip on colour :0
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plus, I’ve found that I haven’t wanted to post my terrible sketches or even my better ones?? Which has been nice to make without the need for sharing. However, I have found myself craving a final image to share with all of Tumblr and Instagram, thinking of possible images that would do well on those platforms. I think there is a small part of me that wants to create those because it would be fun, but I think it’s mostly to fix the number-shaped hole :/ Hank Green made a good video which mentioned the fact that platforms are EXTRA BAD with teaching creators to be addicted to them, even more so than consumers. Video here. It’s good.
I was listening to the Imp and Skizz podcast earlier (Episode - Rendog pt 1), it’s a great podcast, they chat about Hermitcraft a bit but mostly about what being alive is like and being a creator, I really recommend them too. Anyway, Skizz said he was once told to ‘create videos that he wanted to watch.’ And I think it’s a good approach to have when creating. What do I wanna see/ read?
I would love to chat to you about the balance between dark tones and silliness in storytelling too, but it is 11pm and I do have to get up early tomorrow. Plus, I’m not sure I have enough thoughts yet. But for now, it’s left me thinking: what do I want to make? Am I campable of silliness in stories? I want to tell stories with an undertone of darkness, that discusses difficult themes, but how to we do that while keeping it entertaining and not just Too Much(™)?
I dunno, just thoughts I’ve been having. I wanna get them down, even if I don’t have any solutions yet. In the meantime, please accept these sketchbook pages in lieu of philosophical answers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you for listening to my rambles once again!
Love <3 Archie
Ps. I saw Frozen the musical and it was Very Sibling, and I cried. It made me think of you and I think you would like it (it’s only a bit different to the film but it makes such a difference omg)

Group 4 project
Tumblr media
Activity title: group 4 project - Science hero
Activity type: action, creativity
Activity duration: 12 june 2023
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reflection: For our group 4 project, we opted for what we affectionately term a feminist movement. We chose Rosalind Franklin as our 'science hero,' feeling strongly that her rightful claim to a Nobel Prize was unjustly denied. As a playful nod to our feminist theme, we joked about adorning the sole male participant in our group with a budget wig. In addition to our PowerPoint presentation, we embarked on creating a 3D model of DNA, synthesized a protein containing DNA from a banana, and engineered an electrical battery. Setting up our station in the school hallway, we presented our project to our professors and classmates. Reflecting on the experience, I found the endeavor of replicating some of Franklin's more profound work and integrating the three scientific disciplines quite intriguing. Moreover, I was deeply impressed by how one woman could make such significant contributions across diverse fields.
Learning outcomes:
1. Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
3. Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Master Microsoft PowerPoint: Your Ultimate Guide to Creating Impactful Presentations
Tumblr media
Microsoft PowerPoint is an essential tool for professionals, educators, and students. Whether you're pitching a business idea, sharing research, or teaching a class, PowerPoint lets you create presentations that leave an impression. In this guide, we’ll explore everything you need to know to master PowerPoint, from understanding its key features to learning practical tips for designing visually appealing slides that engage your audience.
Why Master Microsoft PowerPoint?
With Microsoft PowerPoint, you can transform ideas into visually compelling slides, making complex information more digestible and persuasive. PowerPoint presentations are used worldwide because they help deliver information effectively, making ideas memorable. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, mastering PowerPoint is a skill that can benefit your career, academic performance, and personal projects.
Getting Started: PowerPoint Basics
Before we dive into the more advanced tools and tricks, let’s start with the essentials. These foundational elements form the basis of a strong PowerPoint presentation:
1. Understanding the Interface
PowerPoint’s interface is designed to be user-friendly, with most essential functions accessible via the ribbon at the top of the screen. Here, you’ll find tabs for Home, Insert, Design, Transitions, Animations, and more.
Familiarize yourself with these tabs to locate tools for slide formatting, inserting graphics, and adjusting transitions.
2. Creating and Structuring Slides
Start by creating a new slide using the Insert tab or by pressing “Ctrl + M” (shortcut for adding a new slide). Choose from a variety of layouts to arrange your content.
Arrange your presentation logically by adding titles, subtitles, bullet points, and images to help the audience follow along.
3. Saving and Exporting Options
Always save your work regularly. PowerPoint allows you to save in multiple formats, including PPTX, PDF, and even MP4 if you want to share your presentation as a video.
Designing Your Slides: Tips for Visual Impact
Effective PowerPoint design is more than just placing text on slides; it’s about creating a visually engaging story. Here are some design principles that can elevate your presentations:
1. Choose a Consistent Theme
PowerPoint comes with built-in themes that help create a professional look. Select a theme that matches the tone of your presentation—business, education, or creative.
Keep colors and fonts consistent. Use the Design tab to find appealing templates, or customize your own theme to match your brand.
2. Less Is More: Minimize Text
Use bullet points and keywords rather than long paragraphs. This keeps the slide clean and directs the audience’s attention to what you’re saying rather than making them read dense text.
Aim to convey each point with as few words as possible. Instead of writing “Microsoft PowerPoint helps in creating professional presentations,” you can simplify it to “PowerPoint for Professional Presentations.”
3. Incorporate High-Quality Images and Graphics
Visuals break up text and keep the audience engaged. Use stock images, icons, or illustrations that relate to your topic. PowerPoint has a built-in library of icons under the Insert tab.
Be mindful not to overload slides with images. Aim for a balance between text and visuals for clarity.
4. Use Effective Fonts and Colors
Opt for readable fonts like Arial, Calibri, or Helvetica for main text, and bold fonts for headings. Avoid decorative fonts that can be hard to read.
Use contrasting colors to make text stand out. Dark text on a light background or vice versa ensures readability.
Advanced Features to Enhance Your Presentations
Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can start experimenting with PowerPoint’s advanced features to make your presentations more dynamic:
1. Animations and Transitions
Animations help control the flow of information. You can reveal bullet points one at a time to prevent overwhelming your audience.
Use subtle transitions like Fade or Push to keep your presentation fluid. Avoid excessive animations as they can be distracting.
2. Embedding Videos and Audio
Add multimedia elements for a more engaging experience. You can embed a video from YouTube or upload your own files.
Audio clips can also add depth, whether it’s a background track, sound effect, or voiceover. Ensure multimedia files are clear and relevant.
3. Utilizing SmartArt and Charts
SmartArt graphics allow you to present lists, hierarchies, and processes in a visually appealing way. Go to the Insert tab, select SmartArt, and choose the graphic that best represents your content.
Use charts to illustrate data. PowerPoint integrates with Excel, enabling you to insert dynamic charts that can be updated easily.
4. Customizing Slide Layouts with Master View
The Slide Master feature lets you edit the layout of all your slides at once. This is particularly useful if you’re working with a large presentation and want a consistent layout.
You can adjust background colors, fonts, and placeholders in Slide Master, ensuring your slides maintain a uniform appearance.
Tips for a Successful PowerPoint Presentation
Beyond the design, the effectiveness of your PowerPoint presentation largely depends on your delivery. Here’s how to ensure your audience stays engaged:
1. Engage with Storytelling
Craft a story around your presentation. People are more likely to remember stories than lists of facts.
Try to keep your audience curious by building anticipation. For instance, instead of presenting all data at once, reveal it progressively to maintain interest.
2. Practice Your Delivery
Practice speaking confidently without reading from your slides. Use slides as prompts rather than scripts.
Time yourself to make sure you’re not rushing through or lingering too long on one slide. Practice with the Presenter View in PowerPoint to get comfortable.
3. Encourage Interaction
Make your presentation interactive by asking questions or using interactive slides. For example, you can create polls or quizzes to engage the audience.
Include a Q&A section where your audience can participate, making the session more engaging.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid in PowerPoint
While PowerPoint is a powerful tool, it’s easy to make mistakes that detract from your message. Here are some pitfalls to watch out for:
1. Overloading Slides with Information
Keep slides concise. Avoid cluttered layouts by focusing on one main point per slide.
If you have too much information, consider using additional slides rather than overcrowding.
2. Inconsistent Design
Changing fonts, colors, or layouts from slide to slide can look unprofessional and confusing. Stick to a cohesive theme throughout.
3. Relying Too Much on Effects
While animations and transitions are great, using too many can be distracting. Stick to a few simple effects to enhance rather than detract.
PowerPoint Shortcuts to Save Time
To work efficiently in PowerPoint, here are some keyboard shortcuts:
Ctrl + M – New Slide
Ctrl + D – Duplicate Slide
Ctrl + K – Insert Hyperlink
F5 – Start Slideshow
Shift + F5 – Start Slideshow from Current Slide
Learning these shortcuts will streamline your workflow and help you create presentations faster.
Keeping Your Audience Engaged During the Presentation
While Microsoft PowerPoint makes it easy to design great slides, it’s up to you to bring them to life. Here are some techniques to keep your audience focused:
1. Connect with Your Audience
Make eye contact and use body language to convey confidence. Don’t just rely on the slides; talk to your audience directly.
2. Adjust According to Audience Feedback
Pay attention to the audience’s reactions and adjust your pace accordingly. If they seem lost, slow down and explain further.
Final Thoughts on Mastering Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft PowerPoint is a versatile tool that, when used effectively, can greatly enhance your communication skills. Mastering PowerPoint is not just about learning the software but understanding how to craft presentations that resonate with your audience.

Botanical University Challenge 2024
Botanical University Challenge 2024 https://ift.tt/3OSeayC The second Student Botany Festival started with the semi-finals and finals of Botanical University Challenge, or BUC as it’s affectionately known. This year’s competition for next-generation botanists and plant-aware students was the largest to date with twenty-eight teams from the UK and Ireland. The first BUC was between five teams in 2016 at Kew. It has since been competed for a further six times and gained a careers-oriented event to go with it. It’s a big step from its origins. As the semi-finals were introduced, one of the original organisers, Jonathan Mitchley, said “I can hardly believe we’re here.” Here, for 2024, was Oxford following the victory by the Oxford team in Nottingham. A crammed Shulman Auditorium watched teams from Cambridge, Kew, Reading, and York compete for a place in the final. York’s team tackle the wall of 4 x 4 species and attempt to work out the connections. The semi-finals had six rounds. From my non-botanist perspective, they appeared to alternate between themed and general rounds. Round one was the Wall, a homage to Only Connect. For round three was a round where the teams were given a plant to examine and answer questions on and in round five they identified plants on the PowerPoint screen. It worked well, except for the order of the rounds. Round one had ten points, while the other rounds were four each, meaning the jeopardy was front-loaded. Another problem is that the walls were the most daunting rounds, knocking the confidence of more than one team right at the start of the competition. Fortunately, the organisers saw the problem and so, for the final, Round one was the last round, meaning that we didn’t know who was likely to win the final. The atmosphere was unlike other botanical events I’ve been to. My notes say The audience is the loudest that I’ve heard for a botanical event. Another BUC founder, John Warren, said that the event was about fun, and I think the audience was a big part of making that happen. Cambridge receiving the Sid Thomas cup from two of the previous champions, Oxford. Cambridge went out winners, picking up Sid Thomas trophy. This wooden cup, created by Michael Warren, was crafted from nine different tree species and awarded in honour of the late Professor Howard (Sid) Thomas, who was the Emeritus Professor of Biology at the University of Aberystwyth. The spirit of fun came up in the prizes, where along with the quiz winners, there were also prizes for the best team name as well as prizes for botanical art. Along with photography, there was textile art, and the embroiderers did well this year. However, while Cambridge deserve congratulations for their win, I’ll go with the cliche and say Botany was the real winner. The reason is what happened after the prizes. The students gave flash, 60-second, presentations with just one PowerPoint slide. For me, this was the highlight. Against all statistical sense, all the talks were above average. The presentations worked as a great way for students to introduce themselves to the rest of the cohort but also highlighted the – John Warren was right – fun that students were having with their studies.
