One thing wi struggle with a lot is the way myr trauma and systemhood intersects with myr psychosis and OCD.

Tw: extreme childhood abuse, psychosis, OCD, corruption, RAMCOA/OEA

Myr Trauma

The cult wi were raised in had some obsession with the end of the world. Particularly, triggering apocalyptic events and bringing about the end. Their.. "structure" was based on the Christian apocalypse, particularly The Four Horsemen.

Wi talked about this a little bit on myr alterhuman blog but each cult member goes through a series of tests and trainings before being separated into four different sects to continue more specific training. The different sects were:

The Path of Famine

The Path of Pestilence

The Path of War

The Path of Death

Each sect of the cult specialized in different things. Like The Path of Pestilence went on to become programmers for the cult. That particular Path involves a lot of corruption type themes.

I was put on The Path of Pestilence which plays into my psychosis and OCD. Most noticeably my psychosis.

Myr Psychosis

Myr psychosis most often presents as mus believing that myr body is decaying in some way. Myr bones are covered in rust. Myr blood is diseased. That wi're dying and no one else can see it or will believe mus. Sometimes it presents as mus believing that wi're spreading disease and decay to everyone and everything wi interact with. Sometimes it presents as mus believing that wi're a deity of decay and pestilence (which feeds into myr alterhumanity).

Wi don't know yet why wi experience psychosis or what is causing it, since wi just started talking about it with myr therapist, but wi definitely know that myr programming trauma feeds into it.

Myr OCD

Now myr OCD, I think, is pretty minor. Myr OCD is a mixture of programming trauma and trauma later in life. It mostly comes in the form of contamination OCD. Not being able to touch certain surfaces. Obsessively cleaning and/or needing things cleaned a particular way. Having to use hand sanitizer a lot, usually at seemingly random moments.

It's just.. sometimes wi find it frustrating the way myr mental health intersects because wi feel like it makes things a lot less clear to see and understand.

🩻 Regeneration: The Moulding Period

We talk about regeneration a lot, for obvious reasons. But what happens after the glow fades? This is the moulding period, the phase where a Gallifreyan's new body adjusts and stabilises.

Moulding is a term coined by GIL to describe an umbrella of quirks and processes observed in the aftermath of regeneration across multiple media. While the term 'moulding' is not officially recognised in the wider Whoniverse medical lexicon (yet), we think it should be.

🌀 What is the Moulding Period?

Moulding is an 8-week window immediately following regeneration when a Gallifreyan's body is in a state of cellular flux. Think of the body as soft, malleable putty that slowly hardens over time inside a mould. During this phase, subtle changes may occur as the body fine-tunes itself/the putty settles inside the mould.

🔬 Key Features of Moulding

1️⃣ Physical Adaptation: The new body isn't fixed in its initial state. During this period, hair length, skin details, taste preferences, or even eye colour might change, or prolonged stays in extreme environments could prompt more complex systems to adapt.

2️⃣ Durability and Energy: In this jelly-like state, a Gallifreyan's cells are incredibly durable and adaptive. Combined with the high energy levels of Post-Regenerative Trauma (PRT), this allows them to shrug off major injuries, survive extreme falls, or even regrow limbs during the early hours.

3️⃣ A Tool for the Skilled: For Gallifreyans skilled in the art of regeneration, moulding is an opportunity to refine their new appearance. They can consciously guide the process, tweaking details to their liking. For those unskilled in regenerating, it's all much more unpredictable.

4️⃣ Kooky Consequences of Consecutive Regenerations: Regenerating during moulding is like resetting during a system update. This could lead to anomalies like partial regenerations or unusual phenomena and possibly explains, in part at least, 14's bigeneration.

5️⃣ Reflections of the Past: Gallifreyans may still see the faint image of their previous body when looking in a mirror during the moulding period.

⚡ How Is This Different from Post-Regenerative Trauma?

Moulding isn't to be confused with Post-Regenerative Trauma (PRT), which typically lasts only a few days. PRT includes far more intense symptoms such as (but not limited to):

Delirium and confusion

Fainting and generalised weakness

Amnesia and personality regression

Spasms and seizure

Pain, including severe headaches

While PRT is an intense, short-term adjustment period, moulding is the body's longer-term fine-tuning process. They overlap, but they are two very different things.

🏫 So ...

The moulding period is essential for allowing the new body to stabilise, adapt, and thrive. For skilled regenerators, it's a chance to refine and personalise. For the less experienced, it's two months of crossing their fingers and hoping they don’t wake up with lime-green hair.

🕰️ Yui definitely suffers from comphet.

🕰️ She’s a lesbian suffering from comphet, or at least a bisexual— leaning preference towards women and very little men.

🕰️ However, based on all the routes with all the boys, and her only developing an actual romantic attraction due to Stockholm Syndrome (mainly by a purely psychological approach to her conditioning, then eventual development— as well as the heavy abuse she as placed under to get to the select boys’ character development,) I’d say she’s a lesbian.

🕰️ Her entire life she was surrounded by men who asked a lot of her, and controlled her day to day routine.

🕰️ Her father canonically neglected her a lot when she was a child, leading her to gather household skills by a young age to sustain herself.

🕰️ She has an iffy relationship with her father, as she tries to speak well of him. However his sketchy— borderline pedophilic— behaviours towards her are questionable at best.

🕰️ She was heavily conditioned her entire life, unknowing of what her truth was other than what happened to be force fed to her.

🕰️ Yui would question her religion in secret. Mainly because of her conflicting sexuality, and Seiji’s influence.

🕰️ She’d find herself conflicted, as she’s never once had a crush on a man. Never felt the feelings the nuns would present to her. Nothing.

🕰️ Instead, it’d be for a woman. Which would instantly throw her for a loop.

🕰️ Cue the HEAVY Religious Trauma.

🕰️ Yui would pray to be ‘normal’ because she was afraid that she was cursed.

🕰️ She’d been told her entire life what happened to be ‘right’ and ‘wrong.’ So why was it now, that her happiness was considered a sin in the eyes of the lord…?

🕰️ It would take a ravenette woman to change that, or at least allow Yui to understand that it’s okay, and normal.

🕰️ She’d meet her beau whilst in the alley ways in Romania after sneaking out.

🕰️ Yui would tell you that, that night was the first time she felt truly alive.

🕰️ Her heart pounded, adrenaline to it’s all time high, her cheeks stained in a pinky-blush.

🕰️ I’d like to think that Yui has anxiety, or just high stress and ability to stress easy— but hides it well.

🕰️ Hence, nicotine.

🕰️ Yui 100% smokes, especially when she’s stressed. Even more so when suddenly moving in with the vampiric families she’d find herself acquainted with.

🕰️ So, there Yui was, smoking in the alleyway, when she meets her.

🕰️ Long black hair, reaching hip length and curled at its ends. Lime green eyes that stopped rooms and froze even the largest of crowds. She was beautiful, she was ethereal— coming out of an old 1950’s vintage movie, Yui knew she was home.

🕰️ Some would say that the woman fell first, and Yui fell harder due to her dwindling faith. But Yui would say otherwise. They both knew otherwise.

🕰️ Yui fell first, and then fell even harder.

🕰️ The woman? As she laid eyes on the blond, she knew she would be sticking around.

🕰️ Yui was never one for love at first sight, as all her given descriptions were supposed to be with a man, she could never gaslight herself to find the appeal.

🕰️ But that night… Yui couldn’t tell if it was the way the moon shone down, or the way the woman looked like an ethereal being from the heavens and hells. But one thing was for certain. For once, she believed.

🕰️ Yui knew that she’d love this woman for this life and the hundreds of other ones they’d share.

🕰️ She would wait, despite her reservations of her faith, she knew that she would never love anyone the way she loved this girl.

🕰️ Yui didn’t want to find another, not when the one she’d marry was right in front of her.

🕰️ It didn’t take long for them to share the cigarette Yui was casually taking in. And it didn’t take long for Yui to become a giggling mess at the woman’s jokes.

🕰️ Time stopped, and perhaps it was that, that made the two’s meetups become more frequent.

🕰️ They’d go to the late night carnivals, walk alongside the alleyways, and go on small dates— all in secret of course.

🕰️ In fact, on one late night carnival date, the two would find a photo booth, where they’d share their first kisses.

🕰️ Yui still keeps the pictures with her.

🕰️ The woman would play the piano for Yui, and even teach her a few songs.

🕰️ They would always gift each other flowers on their late night dates. Always surprising each other with what they came up with.

🕰️ Even going as far to see who’s bouquet of flowers matched the theme of their date the best.

🕰️ It would go on for a few years, with them meeting around when Yui was 13, and until Yui was 15-16, would they stop.

🕰️ The reason? The woman would get killed by the church, all on Seiji’s orders. As if to teach Yui a lesson.

🕰️ She’d be exorcised. A formal exorcism to be taken place in one of the church’s basements. And by Seiji’s orders, would Yui be forced to watch.

🕰️ The woman would smile at Yui, despite the pain, and Yui would stand there, next to her father, as the love of her life was killed.

🕰️ Yui’s Lovers’ last words were simple, sweet, yet soul crushing.

🕰️ “You’ll do wonders, Yui.”

🕰️ After it was done, Seiji would pass Yui by, before muttering one last remark at her.

🕰️ “Understand, that this is what shall come to pass when you entertain the devils sin. You, too, shall be cleansed.”

🕰️ To this day, Yui could never fill the hole in her heart. The place that the woman left was infillable. She didn’t want anyone to become the next.

🕰️ In fact, Yui partially blames herself. For not being too careful, for letting her pride get the best of her. For choosing herself for once.

🕰️ The night before her lover would be killed, she suggested to run away. Just the two of them. It was still in the alleyway where they first met, and would they still share a cigarette and more.

🕰️ Yui would be hesitant. Especially about her father and other underlying factors.

🕰️ Yui would live with that regret for the rest of her days, constantly replaying that moment in her mind.

🕰️ To this day, Yui wishes she ran away. At least then, her lover would be alive and well, and they’d be happy. Hell, she’d be happy.

🕰️ I’d like to this the woman Yui was far too in love with for her own good could’ve been a human, or possibly a vampire.

🕰️ Thus making her first experiences with vampires lighthearted. And something to want and care about.

🕰️ Unlike the current, she’d reflect on the woman and not care as much as she’d realize that vampires and those of the supernatural can be good and are like any other people with goals, motivations, and aspirations.

🕰️ I’d also think that the vampire lover would be an aristocrat, further pushing how Yui can see the good in others and how her lover was different.

🕰️ it was ironic though, as what is a mortal to do when their immortal lover is dead and gone. Buried in an unmarked grave.

🕰️ Normally, it’s the immortal lamenting, so Yui always finds ways to mask the pain with this idea.

🕰️ Yui would constantly place white chrysanthemums on her lover’s grave. Which represent mourning, love, and eternal rest.

🕰️ Along with white babys breath, which symbolize everlasting love.

🕰️ I suppose it goes to show that even in death, Yui will mourn and love her immortal or mortal lover.

🕰️ Yui was the sun, and her lover, the moon.

What Starstruck Dee theory have people made that is your favourite?

there have been quite a lot, and i genuinely love them all!

early on i think the most popular theory was that she was possessed or had been possessed at some point, most likely by dark matter. she actually debunked this theory personally, but i think people just assumed she was lying! 😂

my favourite part is not any one theory, but watching a shift in thoughts over time as more things are revealed, and seeing people share theories/work together in comments and reblogs. i like the "OOHHH WWWWHAT...!?!" moments a lot; whether they are a reaction to my storytelling or to other folks' detective work!

early theories revolved around how she was weird for a waddle dee, or at least a native of popstar. despite my never explicitly confirming anything to the contrary, theories have now broadly shifted to assuming she is not from popstar at all, and most people do now generally agree she's not really a waddle dee.

i don't recall exactly who first came up with each theory (though some big players are @the-void-is-a-disappointment who did a huge amount of early deetective work and encouraged me to build it as a story for solving, @shibuya-toasted-with-extra-cream, @graycoin and @jojo-schmo) and i'm not sure which of these theories are still held by anyone

but here a few of my favourites, roughly in order that they started appearing...

♻️ she's a total mimic species like kirby or void, copying things around her either by intent or by accident 🗑️ similar to above, but she's an incorrect copy or a "beta" mock-up type of a waddle dee 🧚 that she was just born different, like a fae changeling, and might have been hidden away when young as a result 🕰️ she is something totally inorganic and/or mechanical, created by or like the clockwork stars or stardream, perhaps wish contingent 🥇 sometimes attached to the above, she was created to serve some sort of Greater Purpose. she might have failed at it or been flawed, and was subsequently discarded on popstar 🌠 a dozen and one wildly different things connected to the "falling star that hit her". alien life form on the meteor transferred into her on impact. infection by intergalactic bacteria/dark matter. simply massive concussive trauma that fucked up her signature (back when we thought that was the only thing wrong with her). the star was magic and fused with her. she hatched from it and is literally a star herself. probably missing some here. 🪐 waddle dee from a different place/planet. this one is quite a sensible theory, given that we do see many quite different dees! 🤍 she is a fragmented piece of void/void termina. this one in particular i know is @shibuya-toasted-with-extra-cream 's ongoing theory and she's put in a lot of really cool work towards it! ⚔️ she's somehow connected to the heroes of yore. this theory i think has only started popping up since galacta knight has become a reoccurring visitor in her storyline and we've started asking questions about her familiar looking magic spears, but you can certainly 1hko @moonverc3x with this one 🧿 she's connected to the matters. sometimes soul, because it's sometimes star themed and lacks a token representative. where as a connection to dream might link her to fecto forgo/fecto elfilis in some way (a creature also well known for a catastrophic meteor attack). i've also seen folks confident that she's connected to heart matter as well, probably again due to everyone's favourite grumpy swan showing up

this is all i can think of or locate right now, but there's been a pretty wide range of things. i feel there has been a rather interesting transition over time from "she's a messed up waddle dee" to "she's probably connected to a universal superpower of some kind" which i am genuinely really really thrilled about?! 😂 what a glow up for a pathetic little wawa!!!

i'm also personally really fond of seeing how people's existing biases influence what they can find and draw connections in. for instance: i know @jojo-schmo loves the forgotten land and elfilis, and digs into those connections and draws out some really cool stuff because her knowledge is already so specialised! i think this is the true highlight of working on this story for me, people theorising and engaging in the lore, and laser pin-pointing things that tie into our personal faves-- the way we tend to do with kirby lore as a whole-- is such uninhibited delight

Max is a talking coyote who is affected by the system's trauma and holds a lot of anger as a result. This manifests in the form of aggression and hostility towards his headmates and people external to the system. If the system have BPD, this anger is a BPD symptom. He is uninterested in healing or changing his behavior. However, he is very logical and, when not in the heat of an angry moment, can be reasoned in situations where his hostility has natural consequences. Max is good at solving problems, and while he generally doesn't do things with the motivation of benefiting the rest of the system, he does act in self-interest, which can benefit the rest of the system due to him being a part of it. Wi struggle to talk about myr systemhood with others, systems or singlets, because it feels.. strange and hard to explain. Wi get worried about people not believing mus or becoming isolated because myr experience with being a system is different.

Wi're a traumaendo system. What that means for us is that wi originated through extreme trauma but use the act of elaboration (creating our own identities outside of myr trauma) to heal and the act of elaboration feels rather "endogenic" in nature.

Wi're a programmed system (hence the need for elaboration) but wi don't have any triggerable programs. Wi have programs that go off but you can't say something to us and deliberately cause a program to go off; unlike what wi've seen in a majority of the OEA survivor community.

Wi didn't have a host or frequent fronters. Myr various front rooms are a constantly revolving door of parts.

There are almost no outwardly differences in parts. Especially after elaboration. Wi have a collective name, collective pronouns, collective genders, collective interests, collective fashion, collective sexuality. Internally, there are some differences but all.. 2,000(?) of us are basically all the same personality. The main difference lies in the emotions but even then.. it's collective, the difference is just who fronts for the emotion.

The memory between the innerworld and front is almost non-existent. Once wi enter front, wi have no idea what's going on inside and wi forget almost all details of what it is, how it functions or what wi were doing before wi entered front. There is an almost 100% disconnect between front and back of house.

Not to mention myr memory in general. Wi struggle to remember the simplest thing, especially when it comes to the abuse, and that causes a massive fear of fakeclaiming. Especially when an unelaborated part comes to front or a part whose in program comes to front and shares things wi didn't remember then wi promptly forget those facts again when that part elaborates or exits their program.

Myr programming being integral to myr system structure and experience makes it even harder. Wi can't really talk about myr system without going into the extreme abuse wi went through and.. that is not something a lot of people are open to hearing about. It's not something a lot of people can truly handle hearing about.

And it makes trying to make connections in the community hard. Wi just want to have a community of people who understand mus and what wi've been through. Wi want people wi can lean on for support or growth when it gets hard. There's so many factors at play in myr experience and it makes it impossible to make those connections and it's.. depressing.

That rlly hit me, hearing about the character's pasts and being open about their trauma always hits me, which is why I loved Trevor and the whole Gloria Scott arc, learning about not only the whole tragedy at the oil rig but Sherlock's insecurity and his trauma from school and John talking about his dad just AHHH I love it.
