okay so I’ve played through a good chunk of Tekken 6’s campaign mode, and I think I have a better idea as to how Ridley Amora participates in the narrative + general character stuff about her. It’s a long post so buckle up!

The game has a world map with unique areas with their own bosses, each one being a respective tekken character on the roster. Sometimes it’s just a 2 v 1 boss fight but sometimes it can be a 2 v 2 boss fight.

Ridley Amora would be one of the early bosses, specifically in the West District, 13th Avenue as a mini boss before Paul Phoenix. The reason why she’s located here is because she just so happens to be on the run from the Mishima Zaibatsu and is thus hopping from place to place consistently. She doesn’t want to risk the safety of any Resistance bases or civillians, and honestly she only really stays in one area for under a week, before moving on to the next place. It’s just that she just so happens to feel this overwhelming creeping dread that she’s being followed and so makes the decision to leave the West District - leading to her coming across face-to-face with Lars and Alisa.

She would probably tag along with Lars and Alisa simply because she’s a notable individual who has stood up against the Zaibatsu that any of the Resistance Cells will be able to recognise her as a non-threat and essentially just be a precaution to ensure the Resistance cells don’t attack a temporarily amnesiac Lars and Alisa, who is just as equally confused-and-curious-about-the-outside-world.

I know this might all seem to be a contradictory statement but they’re actually not in these Resistance areas for too long, so the risk for discovery is much smaller. Still risky, but it does not put as much of a target on their backs as they’re just passing through. Also this would make some of the game make a little more sense because I get it’s a misunderstanding to beat up the resistance cells, but like. It would have been way more interesting if the Zaibatsu put a bounty on Lars’s head and the enemies you fight in the game are people who are desperate for something good to happen in their lives, as there is a promise of a large cash prize.

um. Very important that Lars’ and Ridley’s first interaction is extremely antagonistic (or at least she’s antagonistic to him), and thankfully he’s got amnesia so it doesn’t hurt that he’s getting insulted by the very person who inspired him to breakaway from the Zaibatsu in the first place. Although when he does get his memories back…. Uh. That moment really hurts him a lot. Like he genuinely feels like he’s been gutted like a fish, and it forces him to see Ridley Amora as a person and not the so called icon he’s put on a pedestal- especially since she’s the reason why Yggdrasil exists at all.

Ridley has been a very vocal critic of the Zaibatsu and unfortunately the thought of crossing the path of the Zaibatsu’s former military commanders who defected to form a rebellion out of no where, leaves a VERY bad taste in her mouth. Internally, she wants to be like Lars, she envies him because he was able to build a pretty sizeable community/resistance group together overnight, yet Ridley constantly struggles to keep even a basic friendship group together. She wants what he has.

As the game progresses, more and more banter would occur between Lars and Ridley during the moments between chapters. It starts vitriolic, but slowly that edge shaves itself off and becomes more playful and sarcastic. They start working as a proper team, and even if Lars and Alisa aren’t going to see eye-to-eye with Ridley all the time, they at least appreciate Ridley’s bluntness and brutal honesty. Even if it’s something they don’t want to hear, she is able to keep them grounded in reality and look at things as realistically as possible.

Too bad it takes so long on Ridley’s end to realise that the community she wants is right in front of her. Her guard is still up, but she doesn’t realise her castle walls are starting to show signs of their age for the very first time. They don’t crack yet, at least not until the very tail end of Tekken 6’s campaign mode. It would take all the events of Tekken 7 to tear down those castle walls fully, to then allow her the opportunity to let go of this mental curse she’s placed upon herself, that will finally allow all of those wishes of hers to have a stable unbreakable community around her be met with open arms for her.

Her more brash, cold attitude wont disappear overnight, but at least the edges have been filed down to something much smoother, and at least is a lot nicer than before. She’s not meek, but she’s a much softer person by the end of Tekken 7.

These two clerics serve rival gods! Well, technically, gods that used to be rivals but got their shit back together in the past century or so, but that doesn't really matter to their followers, who still clash frequently. Character A is arrogant and hotheaded and protects his pride as his dearest possession-- life made him that way, but he'd loathe to admit it. Character B is gentle and earnest, with a hint of a savior complex that's… not-so well hidden. When character B leaves her home, striking out on her own with the goal of bringing the followers of evil gods into her goddess's light, the two meet. And they're both trans, how cool is that?

Character A thinks character be is a weenie and a loser. Character B thinks character A has just been hurt by the world due to the strict gender roles of the society he grew up in, and all the murder can be forgiven if he 💘💖💞steps into the light💞💖💘 or whatever. They hook up once, because Character A's dysphoria makes it near impossible to show his body to anyone not like him. And then a hookup turns into a relationship-- one where they both have ulterior motives, with Character A wanting easy affection and intimacy in a place where it's hard to come by and Character B hoping that through this, her words will finally get through to him. And then the ulterior motives in the relationship slowly dissolve into a genuine desire to be near one another and to trust one another. Too bad Character A is still telling himself he's doing this for his ego and Character B is still telling herself she's doing this for religious reasons! These two losers literally just keep tripping over what's in front of them. It's kind of pathetic.

Ready and Set were ordinary rebellious kids…and that got them into trouble. Experimented on, they found themselves with too much power and too many places to throw it at. But they also discovered someone else: Go. Go was a bit more rigid, only having a one track mind. While Ready and Set decided to help him, they also tried expanding his mind. He has seriously injured someone before; in his line of profession, he makes a lot of enemies, so he always has to be prepared to defend himself. As for breaking someone's heart, he might have there have been a few girls who were in love with him, but the moment he sensed this, he turned tail and ran, and he's not one to break anyone's trust if he respects you enough he goes out of the way to maintain a respected and trustworthy relationship. He may be a professional thief, but he's not a cold-hearted bastard.

🥯 BAGEL: Caden's typical breakfast consists of two fried eggs, sausage, and toast with a cup of coffee, but if in a rush, a bagel is usually his breakfast, and if out and about, he usually treats Ellis and himself to breakfast at the many diners across New York.

Well... she does have a partner to whom she will spend the rest of her life loving, they have a beautiful little daughter, Cosima, together (and are thinking about having other kids), they live together when their busy work schedules permit, and they have been together for about twenty years.... So, naturally they bang all the time and it's hot as hell every time. :)

She has always been rebellious and passionate and destructive, so that bled into a lot of aspects in her life while growing up. She was promiscuous to the point of causing problems when she was expected to act more regal and removed when moving in DK circles.

But it led to a fun time during her starting years in Korriban, a Sith in Nar Shaddaa, and during infiltration missions into enemy territory.

Looks, definitely. If anything else, her "aura" keeps people away. She cuts an intimidating figure most of the time and she revels in being Sith. if anything, people would maybe approach her after seeing her, but then bounce right after catching her vibe LOL

💘 : Is your OC a very good flirt? Are they charming?

Absolutely not. She's hot enough and privileged enough so that she never needed to learn how to flirt to get a partner she wants. Being direct and forthright with that mostly got her the result she wanted. But flirting? Shit at it. Could not flirt her way out of a wet paper bag.

She can be charming at some points, but it's not her normal way of regarding people. She has a dry sense of humor but if she wants to be charming? She has to work at it and try to remember old charm classes or emulate her far more charming friends.

💔 Sad and PISSED OFF girl hours ahead:

What got me was him play fighting with Dustin 🥺 and being a big brother to him. Like...I knew but I also lowkey hoped Robin was talking about someone else. I'm sorry, revoke my bi girl card but I would not have been nearly as upset if it was Robin...Not every gay character is my favorite, sue me. And would I be upset with Steve or Nancy? Not as much as Eddie! This back and forth romantic tension as their only plot just bc we KNOW they're gonna get together is getting old. The plot armor for the four older teen main characters in general is OLD. Other than Nancy being badass, Jonathan being a good brother which okay bare minimum brownie points and Steve being Mr. Mom; their personalities are bland compared to Eddie.

They turned Robin's character from the intelligent sarcastic girl that had so many tricks up her sleeve we saw at chips ahoy to a bumbling neurotic mess that offered hardly nothing this volume 2. Third Season Robin I'd be upset over, fourth season Robin? Doesn't even feel like the same character so no. And outside of when there's danger in Hawkins...Are Nancy or Jonathan or Steve REALLY that interesting or good of ppl? Bc Eddie was a good guy WAY before he realized there was danger. Jonathan is so avoidant of controversy or emotional responsibility he's being manipulative by NOT telling Nancy. Nancy is so ready to be an ambitious woman she doesn't even ask others or think of what's happening around her vs what she wants to do. Steve has zero presence other than 'protect the kids!'...What hobbies does Steve have? If there were no kids, what would he do? What other traits does he have other than 'brave, protective, himbo'? Truly. I want to know. Dewey may be those things in Scream but at least he's not a nag like Steve is. I like these characters but compared to Eddie? Not as much!

I'M SICK OF THE BORING FAVORITE CHARACTERS OF THE DUFFERS HAVING PLOT ARMOR. PERIOD.

Eddie is naturally charismatic, weird, playful, fair minded, tries to be a tough ass when he's a huge softie, funny, high energy, rebellious, he likes D&D and Metal, he has a world view that gets rocked by Chrissy and Steve and Nancy and everytime he seems to grow and realize putting labels on the popular kids is no different than ppl labeling him. He had more growth and likeable traits in THE FIRST EPISODE than the main four older kids have all season.

There was no reason for them to kill him off. The 'warding off the bats' thing did nothing. 'They'd go after Robin, Steve and Nancy' it would have taken them awhile to get there and who's to say they wouldn't have been released in time? He died in vain just for the Duffer Brothers to have a stupid point. You're telling ME...You couldn't have written Dustin doing this instead of Eddie and Eddie leaping in to help him? (And being able to get to him faster being taller and more athletically built) and even though they'll probably be injured, Eddie could have been the hero, saved Dustin and still had his 'I didn't run away' moment....It's cheap shock factor writing to kill him off. I may kill off characters but it's necessary for the plot, YN's development and realistic bc ANYONE can die in my fics. It's not realistic that every single main character has plot armor in ST but not Eddie or other side characters.

I would be less upset if other characters died bc at least it wouldn't feel like a cheap ass cop out to get rid of a side character that SHOULD have been the main.

I get he'd be a criminal in Hawkins but they could have easily written him saving everyone with an audience against Vecna or Demagorgons or something in 5 to show he's not the bad guy to Hawkins. EASILY.

AND HOW THEY HANDLED HIS DEATH??? Probably leaving his body in the upside down, not even upset other than Dustin and his Uncle, not honoring the fact he SAVED YOUR UNGRATEFUL ASSES? Idc Steve, Nancy, Robin I could care less about after this. I probably would have never even watched this series if I knew they were gonna kill off THE REASON for me picking up this show. I deadass only watched this to see Eddie in 4. FUCK.

🧑‍🍼 - How do they feel about kids?

It is definitely a thought that’s crossed his mind before. With wanting to settle down with Val, he keeps wanting to ask her but just puts it to the back of his mind because they’re both busy with work. Definitely makes a mental note to ask her later on, but forgets it because he’s too invested in his team and looking out for her safety.

💀 - How do they feel about horror movies?

Oh James will sit through any scary movie, but he just.. doesn’t really flinch much. He mostly rolls his eyes anytime there’s a jumpscare, but he mainly thinks they’re predictable. But anytime the team wants to have a horror night and they want him to come, James will feel bad if he says no.

💘 - What do they find attractive about their partner(s)?

Her ability to pay attention to the SMALLEST detail, just her protective nature when it comes to him and the other members of their team. The way she cares for others, and.. well, its her. Plus she can kick ass and run in heels, James just stares half the time like; ????? 

The fact she teaches hiim moves he doesn’t even know exists when it comes to combat as well to. And.. and, when he tells her to do something and she completely disregards his order. The rebellious nature as well because she’s still willing to help him out no matter the situation.

A post about that one FWB joke I made about Lars and Ridley and now it’s kinda real actually. It’s a whole AU now. Like a proper AU. TW: slightly nsfw, but only because the nature of the relationship is frenemies with benefits but no actual references to sex are made. (they eventually do become lovers but it’s like that REAL LONG SLOW BURN where you’re eating your own hat because you want your faves to get together finally!)

You know how I said I’m sorry Lars and Ridley Amora don’t have a frenemies with benefits relationship? Maybe I should rectify that and make it whole AU onto itself, just with no devil genes, [spoiler character from TK6 isn’t dead], Kazumi Mishima isn’t dead, Azazael doesn’t exist, No global war etc. it’s just Tekken but it’s like an episode of succession and most of the Mishimas suck (minus Lee and Lars).

And so expect the obligatory moment when Heihachi asks his illegitimate son if he’s seeing someone, and Lars chokes on his drink, fully not prepared for such a question, let alone divulge the fact he’s in a FWB relationship (and worse he has feelings for Ridley Amora) because he knows he’s going to be looked down upon by his dad even more by having an unconventional relationship (Kazumi might be a little more supportive although she still raises an eyebrow as to why Lars hasn’t confessed to having actual feelings for Ridley yet).

Also this secret really is a secret that not even Alisa or Lee knows what’s going on. <- technically Lee suspects something is going on between Lars and Ridley (he is correct and is NOT surprised when he finds out), Alisa makes jokes on how they bicker like an old married couple. The only one that knows is Tougou who is like. Really supportive and tries his best to get Lars out of his comfort zone and actually try and pursue an actual romantic relationship with Ridley.

Ridley’s character arc is kinda the same here as it is in canon Tekken, she built walls up around her heart and it takes several people to help break them down (like King and Julia being good… acquaintances… who Ridley does sadly push away a lot too and she has to learn NOT to do that), but it’s Lars is who is one to help break down the last of her barriers.

After all of her emotional defenses are down she herself breaks down crying and finally shattering the tough woman persona she’s been carrying for years. Lars embraces her and just allows her to pour out her heart and soul before him. It would take a a while for the two actually properly get together but there is a mirror point where Heihachi asks Lars again if he’s seeing someone and Lars actually responds honestly and comes clean to him about it - but like that’s not what Heihachi asked, he just wanted to know if his illegitimate son was seeing someone I.e he wanted a yes or no answer not an essay length explanation.

ridley amora doesn’t confess her feelings for lars until like the end of tekken 8. She has them so bottled up because she likes the idea of pining from a distance, and to her it’s much better to imagine a relationship that she could have as opposed to being in one that would ultimately fail. But also again the people around her have been slowly tearing at that castle she’s built around her heart brick by boring brick, so in a way the bottling of these mentions are a final remanent of her old self.

Upon finally hearing the words come from Ridley’s mouth, Lars would be relieved somewhat, because admittedly he does harbour some feeling for her + he looks up to her. This is because she’s one of the few people who indirectly helped instilled his decision to rebel against the Zaibatsu and break away from it, creating Yggdrasil. Although I should stress that before the campaign mode of Tekken 6’s story mode (pre-amnesia), Lars kinda put Ridley Amora on a bit of a pedestal, you know, the parasocial kind of pedestal - long before he even properly meets her. hilariously, he’s not the ONLY Tekken character that does this, Leo is also guilty of this behaviour/thought process regarding Ridley. Obviously both come to learn that Ridley is actually more of a normal person/is slightly dorky and less badass as the certain media outlets portray her to be. Yes it’s underwhelming, yes it’s slightly disappointing but it turns out the real Ridley Amora is more interesting than the Outrage bait headlines. Anyways back on topic, just when Lars is relieved to hear the goth-skate punk has feelings for him, he also feels some growing pains of regret for not taking any earlier opportunities to let his feelings for her be known. To him, if he had been a little clearer in his gestures of affection towards her, or was a little more straightforward with his words then perhaps maybe it wouldn’t have taken soo long for them to get together.

but there is an aspect of ‘maybe it was best for it to take THAT long for us to even be together’. I mean There’s no way they were going to be together in Tekken 6 or 7 because there’s a literal historical event going on (Mishima Zaibatsu’s war on the world + G Corporation + Azazel + Lars’ Amnesia + so many other things), that actually it would have been emotionally detrimental for both parties to get together while everything is going on, because they would be so exhausted to even. Entertain the idea of a proper relationship + Ridley NEEDS to have time to have her castle walls around her heart broken down FIRST, before even entertaining the idea of pursuing a relationship.
