Vi raised her pierced brow at the pet name. She cracked a grin and then chuckled while shaking her head. "I'm surprised you two finally did it."

He furrowed his eyebrows. "Finally?"

Vi scoffed. "You two had the goofiest smiles when you were around each other. It was pretty obvious. Everyone knew except you two."

Ekko swirled the drink in his hands. "We weren't that obvious." he muttered then drank.

Vi laughed. "You two are smart. But were the biggest idiots when it came to dating." She smacked his shoulder and shook it.

"I'm glad she's with you instead of Silco."

The smile he showed her was bittersweet. "I've been wishing she went with me for the longest time."

Vi scrubbed a hand on her chin. "She told you about the tea party?"

Ekko nodded.

"I didn't know they were that close. I just thought that if she came with me then we'll be okay." she held her cup tighter.

"It's all my fault," Tears blurred her vision and she squeezed her eyes closed. "I failed her. That's why she choose to be Jinx."

"You didn't make her, Vi." Ekko comforted. "I love her. But she chose to stay with him. She chose to listen to whatever fucked up lessons he taught her.

She was a victim of that night too but she chose to keep killing people. She liked how she turned out and still does. She doesn't want to change, Vi. She just wants to be accepted."

"That's the thing. She wants to kill Caitlyn. She's a danger to her."

"That's one of the reasons why I lied. I knew she would want to kill Caitlyn. But I didn't know how she'll react to seeing you." He explained.

"I don't want her thrown into Stillwater like I was but she can't just roam free."

Ekko narrowed his eyes. "Then what are you going to do with her?"

Vi rubbed her temples. "That's what I'm trying to figure out." she sighed wearily.

Ekko patted her shoulder. "Life is hard and complicated in general. But it always seems like we got it the worst." He grumbled.

Vi groaned and rubbed her face. "We always get shit thrown our way and it keeps coming. It's exhausting. It can give me a headache sometimes."

"Gods, that's true."

They both clinked their glass together and then chugged their vodka soda.

Vi belched and wiped her mouth with her forearm. Ekko's snickering turned into giggles.

He was supposed to be more mature than this.

It was such a stupid thing to find funny but Ekko laughed anyway and Vi eventually joined him.

The pair sighed in content. It felt good to laugh at something as childish as a burp.

literally not allowed to wear earbuds bc of some problems with my ears (that problem being. my earholes are way too tiny which means even a little bit of dirt can make them feel. bad) and headphones are also not that good for me but still better so yeah. headphones (but also i just genuinely don't like earbuds jdksklsls i wore them when i was little and found them very uncomfortable. i was very happy when i got my first headphones)

15. "favorite book you read as a school assignment?"

okay idk how it works in other countries and schools, but in my school we didn't really.. read like.. whole books? basically, we had literature textbooks which usually had only short stories or if they had longer stories/novels inside, they either had like one or two chapters or cut some scenes out. i was a huge nerd so i didn't hate those works and actually enjoyed some of them and there definitely were stories that i either hated or found boring (but i actually could explain why i felt this way and the literature teachers loved me for it) but i don't think i had a favorite and the fact that the stories were either really short or you had to buy a book if you wanted to read not just one chapter, but the whole story also made me lose interest. i do remember being traumatized by a story (i think it was like. a "only one or two chapters out of a book" situation") that opened with the protagonist and this old lady becoming really close and having this really cute friendship and then that old lady being run over by a train. in extremely cruel and brutal fashion. that scene was at least three pages long. it was way too detailed for a middle schooler to read. don't ask about the title i do not remember anything at all ever
