More than 1000 people have been killed in a horrific 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand, and the devastation is enormous. To help survivors:
World Central Kitchen are en route to the affected areas.
MSF/Doctors Without Borders also have teams on the ground to aid the injured.

How Does the Water Tribe Dye Their Clothing?
There are a few "realistic" ways for the Water Tribe to have acquired the blue coloring for their clothing:
Trade with Kyoshi Island

I headcanon that the Water Tribes originally imported indigo dye from Kyoshi Island, prior to the war (for the North) and the raids (for the South). Kyoshi Island is partially inspired by Japan, which is famous for its high-quality blue indigo.
Crowberry and Arctic Blueberry Dye

Both of these berries are native to the arctic. On their own, both berries produce purple dyes. However, if you mix these dyes with iron/rust-infused water or vinegar, they can become beautiful shades of blue.
Woad Dye

Woad is a plant that grows in subarctic climates like Southeastern Sibera. In the ATLAverse, they would probably grow using greenhouses in the NWT. Traditionally, the blue dye was created by fermenting woad leaves in a mixture of water and stale urine.
Or, alternatively, you could just ascribe their abundance of blue dye to a fictional animal or plant. My headcanon is that they dye their clothing blue using a poisonous-when-eaten plant to ward off large animals. It also has the added benefit allowing them to blend in with the sky when they stand along the horizon; this would be advantageous when hunting.

Zukka little comic, short of, that nobody asked for but is here anyway? Thanks to the thread that I don't even know when it started, I literally found a screenshot on Pinterest and decided to draw it out. But shout out to @your-royal-momoness for starting the thread, I hope this is close to what you had pictured

Cultural Anatomy: Kyoshi Islanders Fashion Pt. 1 - Clothing
One of my favorite touches regarding Kyoshi Island is the Ainu influence. The Ainu (アイヌ) are an East Asian ethnic group indigenous to Hokkaido (the northernmost island of Japan) and the Eastern Russian islands of Sakhalin and Kuril. Since Kyoshi Island exists in close proximity to the Southern Water Tribe, having their inspiration be the Ainu, whose islands are in close proximity to the Yupik and Inupiat peoples of the Bering Strait, is a fantastic parallel.
Anyways, the first characteristic of Kyoshi Island fashion that stands out to the audience is the predominance of the color blue. The color blue is actually closely associated with the Ainu people, due to natural indigo (aizome/藍染め) being one of the most common and resilient traditional dyes in Japan.
Another aspect of Kyoshi Island fashion that’s very Ainu are the designs on their clothes. Traditional Ainu decorations favor bold, geometric shapes along the openings of the clothing. These decorations were seen as charms that warded off evil spirits and protected the wearer, hence why the the patterns appeared on areas of the clothing considered vulnerable: Collars, cuffs, hems and backs. While their intricacy has been greatly simplified for animation purposes, Kyoshi Island clothing still possesses boxy patterns very reminiscent of Ainu designs. From a practical standpoint, adding embroidery and applique to the areas most vulnerable to wear and tear extends the life of a garment, in addition to adding aesthetic appeal.
Finally, compared to the wide, draping sleeves of Japanese kimono, the sleeves of Ainu robes (attush/蝦夷袍) are relatively narrow. A sash or cord is used to hold the attush in place. These robes are often worn over a fitted, long-sleeve undershirt. You can see examples of the shirts peeking out from under the attush sleeves here and here. These undergarments provided thermal insulation and further protection from the cold. The robes of the Kyoshi Islanders share all these qualities, right down to the fitted undergarments!
For Part 2 of my “Kyoshi Islanders Fashion” series, I’ll be covering the cultural origins of their iconic headbands, distinct beards and hairstyles, and all other notable accessories.
Like what I’m doing? Tips always appreciated, never expected. ^_^

English is not my first language, so I might suck / but anyway
I saw how #zukka fans live love laugh here and decided why not pop in and share my thoughts, ramblings and rare sketches as well. And maybe probably get some motivation and validation as an artist and a fan. I actually had a very bad art block before I drew those two for the first time. I had a job as an artist but could not draw anything for myself. thanks to these idiots ♥️
So yeah, here I am and here is one of my silly old sketches

i'm a zutara shipper in the "it was a fling" kind of way
I don't see the ship work in canon personally, and I like to think that eventually once aang matures (say when he's like 20) then he's got a shot with katara
but as per usual, I love hitting the blorbos with the "lone wolf" beam so
yea she's def soloing it out
