Spent all morning crying over Song Lan WOW. Absolutely miserable hours. Just fucking terrible. I don't really think this counts as a fond canon thing, since nothing changed and it was really miserable all around, but I just wanted to thank Song Lan (again). He didn't ask to be there, he didn't want to be there, and he shouldn't have been there. I was nothing but cruel to him and, frankly, had no real incentive to be otherwise. It was hate at first sight, and I took it too far, as we all know. I was a monster. I don't need to say it again, and that's not why I'm writing this. I'm writing it because I can look back now and feel differently about everything. I can look back and see things for what they were.
Thank you, Song Lan. For saving them. For not giving up on Xiao Xingchen. For taking A-Qing with you. For everything, really, even though putting it that way seems distasteful. Thank you for giving me a chance now, too. For letting me make it better, even if just a little. It can't have been easy.
I know I've sent asks like this before, but it bears repeating. Somehow, just knowing you makes me want to be better. I wish I'd known you properly back then, even if there's no guarantee I would've been good for you. You might have not changed things then, but you did change them now. I think that counts for something.
