The different Stanleys often get referred to by their surname, although sometimes my muses will still call them "Stanley". Things get confusing, but I try to make it less confusing at least in text by referring to them either by full name or by their surname. Such is the downside of having a multiverse. :p

Stanley Parable = Parable (The Stanley from the Haunted Office, was Cyrus and Thursday's Stanley, died a couple years ago)

Stanley Johnson = Johnson (Came from Office UD8, his Narrator is Arthur Wright, currently living in the Haunted Office)

Stanley Null = Null (The first Stanley from Office Zero, the same Office Doomsday came from, is a Malignant Reaper, currently squatting in the Haunted Office against the will of the Haunted Office folks)

The outlier here is Shadow Stanley, who usually gets referred to as Shadow! He is from That Office, the same Office Thisday is from, and is an Intangible Ghost. He usually just lurks around in shadows, minding his own business, if watching people counts as minding his own business.

ok right now im thinking about video games kind of in general but sort of like. as an art form or medium you know. which sounds nerdy but im fine with coming off pretentious. one of my fave games is the beginner's guide (same creator as the stanley parable and is the "protagonist"/narrator) which is such an interesting. Commentary. and i think is very well explained in the video "games made for no one" or whatever by jacob geller (also sounds pretentious to admit) but yeah. also imblasted

💘 - Is there any posted fic you want to rework/re-edit/re-write?

Oh, gosh. Yes, and it’s the beginning of NAEA. It’s been SO fun to write and I love where it’s going, but that beginning bit was written when Surf and I had no plans to post it as an actual fic— it was us just having fun with a writing project! And being two people on a writing project allows you to pick and choose what you want to say, and you don’t actually have to care about Details. In the first part of the posted fic, there’s a lot of conflicting information and details that don’t make the most sense in the world— so if anything, I think I’d want to go back and change that to be more solid plot-wise!!

🕯️- Was there a fic that was really hard on you to write, or took you to a place you didn’t think it would take you?

I’m actually not sure! I tend to stray away from topics that are hard for me to think about, and only write about them if they’re truly necessary to the story I’m telling.

That being said, for different reasons entirely, Bug has been a struggle— a struggle that’s paid off, for sure, and one I don’t plan to give up any time soon— because of the nature of its popularity.

Don’t get me wrong!! Oh my god, it’s so amazing to me that people love my writing as much as they do, but that adds an extra amount of pressure to updating and making sure I have details locked and loaded.

It was especially troublesome when I was struggling with focusing too much on the nature of my characterization— I had the unconscious need to impress all those with opinions I liked and agreed with about the characterization of the Narrator specifically, and also the themes of The Stanley Parable as a whole. Obviously, that never goes well, and it swamped me with doubts for a little while before I realized that Actually, I do Not need to be caring about this, because as long as I’m having fun it’s okay.

So yeah! I’ve tried to take it easy on the Bupdates, as is obvious, and I’ve only been writing when I feel like it, but it’s made it a whole lot easier, and hopefully that shows!!
