kazuha x gn!reader | 500+ words ; no pronouns used for the reader. i, literally, cannot sleep so i wrote this fic pls help. written in lowercase. not proofread pls just let me sleep already. words: milk, punch are mentioned. sleeping tgt. god when will i have this. just pure fluff, some brainrot, and definitely no sleep for me.

it's past two in the morning, yet here you are, standing in front of a dazed, closed-eyed kazuha — a plushie in your arms, blanket on your shoulders, and an oversized pajama.

kazuha tried his best to force his eyes open. but he fails, so he just sends you a smile.

“come in.” kazuha almost hit his head on the doorframe when he turned around to make way for you to get in.

you plopped yourself comfortably on his sofa. “sorry, i had a terrible sleeping schedule last week. now, i can't get it out of my system.”

you've been pulling all-nighters last week because of the hell-stack of schoolworks you had to do, and now, you couldn't bring yourself to sleep, so you decided it's best to show up at your best friend's door at 2 am since you live in the same building anyway.

kazuha chuckled and went to the kitchen. “milk?”

“sure… i'll take anything to make me pass out.”

“a punch then?” he joked.

“why not?”

a few minutes later, he comes back with two glasses of milk in his hands. “here you go, sleepyhead.”

“you're the sleepy one here, dummy.”

“fake it til you make it, they say,” he joked and took a sip from his glass.

as soon as you both finished drinking, kazuha offered to bring it in the sink. after a while, he came back with a blanket enough to fit you two in—enough to cover the sofa you were sitting on.

you raised an eyebrow as if asking what's his plan for the night. kazuha simply shrugged, sat beside you again and covered you.

the blanket was fluffy. it was warm to be under the blanket, and even warmer with kazuha by your side.

you noticed him drifting off. kazuha has been a victim of your sleepless nights for quite awhile now, but he doesn't seem to mind. sometimes he'd ask you to tell him stories so your problems would come off your chest, sometimes he'd be the one to tell tales for you to fall asleep.

but tonight, kazuha's clearly tired, he's completely dozing off. his head was hanging and you're worried he might actually fall off the sofa.

“you can sleep on my shoulder, you know,” you whispered your offer. “or like, just lay your head on the sofa.”

without thinking much, kazuha immediately made himself comfortable using your shoulder as his pillow. you wondered if he had forgotten you were the one who he was supposed to help fall asleep.

although, you don't really mind. sometimes, it's not bad to lend a shoulder to a friend, literally.

you and kazuha just stayed like that for who knows how long — it was quiet, the comforting kind, with the only source of noise coming from the air-conditioner.

you examined his peaceful sleeping face. kazuha looked beautiful as he always does.

you smiled as you felt your heart flutter. ah, silly thoughts.

“good night, kazu,” you mumbled.

you planted a kiss on kazuha's hair, then laid your head on top of his. yawning, you finally felt the melatonin kicking in. and so, you drifted off to dreamland.

kazuha shifted his position a bit and smiled as if he was dreaming. “sweet dreams, y/n.”

💤👗 for Mark and sal please?

What do they absolutely need to have to fall asleep?

Mark is fairly anal about his bedtime routine/sleeping parameters. He is particular about clean sheets/pillow cases, showering/washing his face before bed, and will use white noise if he's stressed.

Sal on the other hand will fall asleep anywhere vaguely comfortable and arguably safe. He also refuses to sleep clothed. As per this post

Sal does however have a hard time sleeping alone at night. He's fine napping by himself, but actually settling down for the night? He does not like being alone. Normally sleeps with Betty (and Lucy) and has also been showing up for impromptu sleepovers at Mark's.

How comfortable would they be wearing a skirt or dress?

Both would likely be fairly embarrassed. Both Sal and Mark have very specific relationships with their own view of themselves and their masculinity.

Sal might not mind too much if he chose to wore it himself in a joking context, but the moment someone says cute or anything of a similar vein its all over. He deeply values being seen as strong and masculine, a lot of his perception of his own masculinity tying in with his size (or lack there-of). He does not like feeling small- and being perceived as cute really hurts the view he so desperately wants to embody.

Sal and Mark are sort of opposing parallels. Mark also struggles with his own masculinity- being short, slim and unimposing Mark often struggles to feel and embody the things he would like to, feeling like he's unable to express his masculinity. He tends to wear clothes that have a bit of bulk (sweaters, oversized t-shirts, jeans/sweats) to add to his frame. For him to be stuck in something that draws attention to his figure would be mortifying for him.

DREA – Almost nothing. Drea falls asleep fairly easy regardless of situation. She’ll sleep on a couch, in the back of a car, in a tent, lots of noise, no noise – if she’s tired, she’s out like a light. She, of course, has things she prefers. Like she prefers to have her silk pillowcase or scarf for her hair, she prefers to go to sleep knowing she’s washed her face and put a night cream on at least, she prefers to be in an oversized comfy old top, she prefers minimal noise. 🎲 In-Character: The seasonal event begins on one day and ranges into the week. ⠀

☕ Out-Of-Character: The seasonal event for players will span two weeks, from March 19th to April 2nd. ⠀

💬 On the day of Spring Equinox, several things occur: Winter gives way to spring — the Institute and Headmaster honor this transition with time off, visual changes such as cherry blossoms and spring flowers blooming and existing in pleasant abundance, and two week-long activities. ⠀

💐 The Wish Petal Fountain opens up on Spring Equinox and allows those who visit the chance to make their wish for the year! The garden undergoes a change, and the area is accessible at 5 PM. After the grand opening, the first procession of petal drops occurs with people lining up and going up one by one. While you should ideally go the day of the equinox, the fountain will remain available throughout the in-character week out of consideration. ⠀

�� Spring Cleansing aka Dust Bunny Madness! There is a pocket of space in the Institute that appears everytime spring approaches, and becomes overfilled with dust bunnies. Some manage to escape and bring mischief to places like the elevators or the monorail station. Starting the day of Spring Equinox, the doors to this area open and seekers are free to take up shifts to clean and cleanse — think of it as an act of renewal, like when you switch your sheets and change the curtains whenever a new season rolls around. ⠀

There is a overall quota of 30 bunnies to be successfully cleansed, and seekers can use the entire length of the event OOC (2 weeks) to achieve it. IC, this only spans a week. ⠀

Once the quota is reached, there is still the chance to find stray bunnies and cleanse them! Those who choose to do extra sessions are entitled to a special reward.

OTHER NOTABLE SPRING EQUINOX EVENTS

🎸 Keeganstein Concert: Full time Rockstar Mogotsi Keeganstein returns to Institute City once more to give a concert that is sure to please! ⠀

🎲 In-Character: Is on the same day / night as Spring Equinox. Doors open at 7:00 PM, giving people time to do their wish petal at the fountain and have dinner, and the show starts at 8:00 PM! The music is banger and sure to stir your soles and souls. ⠀

💤 Luna Scarlet's Sleep Over Pool Party: The younger Scarlet has issued a general invitation. All those of the Institute are free to come on over and party it up at the Overseer and her's place. 📣 Be there or be square! ⠀

🎲 In-Character: This takes place two nights after Spring Equinox day and Mogotsi's concert at 9:00 PM until 2:00 AM. So if the Spring Equinox and concert fall on a in-character Tuesday, then Luna's party will be on Thursday. "Thirsty Thursday", as she'd joke.

GENERAL EQUINOX AND SOLSTICE NOTES

Any week a solstice or equinox occurs is basically a week of vacation / taking it easy for most of the Institute. Their golden week if you will. ⠀

While seekers can certainly still do missions — as those are necessary for the safety of the population — lectures and classes overall are not active. There is no need to come in for them. ⠀

Solstices and equinoxes mark important changes and transitions, as such they are considered times to rest and recharge. That is prioritized. ⠀

The Headmaster enjoys celebrating the seasonal shifts in any case and wants to share their joy by way of different activities and encouraging visual changes, such as cherry blossoms always falling down in the air during spring, or a most beautiful snowflake fall in winter. ⠀

The day before an equinox or solstice occurs, work should be light and time is spent preparing for events that week. ⠀

After the week is over, business returns to normal and as usual.
