There were 2 main things I wanted for this artwork. supjeyk nailed both: 1. the vibe/aesthetic of a royal portrait, as befitting these 2 stupidly powerful and majestic kings;

2. their definitive image, as far as I'm concerned => hence the pick-and-choose fest in terms of designs, expressions etc.

I also wanna take the time to give a quick shout-out🙏 to @fate-inspiration, @endortbc, @akampana , @borntobelime, @xxxdreamingflowerxxx . You guys have been keeping the ship alive [on the Western side of the fandom] for years now, and I've been meaning to thank you for it - so thank you for all your super creative headcanons, hilarious shitposting, wonderful art and fics!
