柳舟记 is everything I currently need: an extremely competent former assassin whose lost her memory and now fake married to a prince who wants to use her as bait to catch a 'bandit'; who therefore has to hide *his* ruthlessness to play at being a good-for-nothing.

The 'bandit' being my favorite loser in love Change Huasen, the awesomeness of Zhang Wanyi switching registers between the various roles he's playing, and Wang Churan's indisputable beauty... this is what I wanted for August!

I’m on ep 31 of Are You the One - and I must say this has been such a breezy show. The hours fly by. I like the side couples too. Miss He and the Marquis? Adorable. Brat Prince and his sugar sweet Empress? Double Adorable (she is so my ideal). Main Lead Gaslighting King and his Detective Assassin Porcelain Beauty Queen? Ya’ll she gives me anxiety she is way too observant. But I’m shipping these two fools who have barely touched each other despite sharing a bed for eons. If they don’t consummate their fake marriage by the end of this show I might lose my mind.

Something about themes of loyalty and faithfulness (of which marital fidelity is a subset) in Are You The One/ 柳舟记 that needs thinking about.

I'm probably in a minority when I say, I think maybe just maaaaybe, Zhang Wanyi is not quite killing this role the way I thought he would. Of course he's better at the suppressed longing and angst, and he's sometimes cute as the 花瓶 'husband'. But as the latter who sometimes lets glimmers of the former leak through... not so much.

But abhi drama baki hai so maybe things will change.

Meanwhile, being unable to wait for episodes, I'm about 2/3 of the way through the book, which feels very classic Georgette Heyer to me in a lot of plot ways: crossdressing and mistaken identity; fl being from minor nobility fallen on hard times but with a very good head for business; following the drum subplot; massively wide differences in social standing, and both leads being acutely aware of it; hilarious side characters.
