Isha's song- translation!!

I translated Isha’s song for a friend! 

Halfway through I found someone else did the same thing but from I have stuff to add/ change based on my personal understanding of the song (based on language and story context) (full credits to them btw, the stuff they did was SO awesome I would be lost without where they started https://x.com/cascadingdiamon/status/1857799704266035447?s=46&t=PGNyfgmus8XO76bpUKy8Fw) 

This is by no means a critique! I just wanted to have some fun unpacking the lyrics since mandarin is my mother tongue

(Some of the lyrics I translated are bracketed, cuz I wanted to add additional notes/ meaning and context for my understanding of the original Chinese lyrics instead of putting it into short lyrics fit for the big screen)

孩子別 怕荊棘 赤著腳 就 能尋到 珍貴  my child, dont be afraid of the thorns (of life), the pricking pain of your feet will lead you to ____ [preciousness? treasure? pricelessness.] (the word they use is like a descriptor of how precious something is, not an object) 

你看這個 天黑 焰火有多���  (spoken like someone is pointing)  look at the darkening sky! look at the beautiful the fireworks that burn there

無需太多 的傷悲  no need for your misery(no need for your pain/your grief/your sorrow) 

人本都在 茂盛枯萎  oh the other translation ate  'we are all slaves to nature, blooming as we wither’ (Cuz its og line is referencing the fact that everyone(the human race) is already withering from their greatest act. like, its something about how everyone had already peaked, already made their greatest act of creation/accomplishment, everyone is with you in the aftermath) 

但頑石和塊壘 也開花蕊  Other translation goes 'but even hardened rocks and painful grudges can bloom' (like flowers, but it sounds nicer cut lol) (Dont have any notes like its interesting that words for 'hardened rocks' are actually more so used when someone is talking about like... a distasteful person, like someone sly and untrustworthy. At least from how I understand it?)

撥開山嶺 讓她看看我 peal back the mountains and ridges (as in like, peal back the layers hiding me), let her see me (let her get a good look)

告訴繁星 快些照亮我 tell the galaxy (whisper to the universes), quick! shine upon me (make me shine a little brighter) (the other translation says 'tell the beautiful stars' but like the word they used for stars was '繁星' instead of '星星' which means they're referencing more than just like, stars. they're counting in like, everything. thus--> universe/galaxy)

吹散烏云 用一抹藍色 scatter the darkness with a touch of blue  (Other translation says 'to dispel grey clouds with that smudge of blue deep in my heart' but its more like 'i will personally blow away the storm clouds with a tiny bit of blue) 那就算 世界滿是荒蕪我們 抬頭就能 看見月亮  and, lets just say this world is a wasteland, we can still lift our heads (and [if we do] we'll see the moon is still shining)  (yes thats like the ACTUAL translation cuz '荒芜' is the direct translation of wasteland. i'm crying at the hidden wasteland reference)

在我們還是 孩子的模樣  while there's still a guise that we're just kids 

做雖千萬人 也要盛開 的孤芳  no matter if there are a thousand million people (against us), we must still let ourselves bloom (we must still strive to be the best versions of ourselves)

別再憂傷煩惱  stop your troubled mourning (stop breaking your brain running through all the what ifs that would have saved me) 

別忘  dont forget 

就算流淚 也要一直 奔跑  even with the tears, you still have to keep running 

跑到連時 間都 找不到  run until even time cant find you 

做天邊的飛鳥  become the birds that fly free in the sky
