༄Habits I’m not waiting until January to implement:

Not staying up past 2am. With it being daylight savings, it’s imperative that I go to sleep early and wake up even earlier to make use of my day.

Not immediately rinsing my mouth after brushing my teeth (gotta give that fluoride time to work its magic). Oral health is one of the big things I’m learning to improve.

Discipline. I’m so use to saying I’m going to do something and then pushing it off for “later” until it’s no longer “later” and I’m still procrastinating doing it. Motivation can only take you so far without discipline.

Eating healthier. I can definitely do without consuming so much meat, sugar and dairy. I’m thinking of sticking to a more pescatarian diet with the occasional meat being consumed 3x (???) a month.

Reading more. I’m not as active on any major social media platforms, besides this one so my time should definitely be used to read more. I have a long list of books waiting to grasp my attention.

Fixing my attention span. This ties into the last one. It’s no secret that constant mindless scrolling and viewing short clips will hinder your attention span overtime as you are consuming endless information at once. This daily usage of social media has created the need for me to be constantly stimulated, to the point where because I’m not using it, I get bored and seek that attention somewhere else.

Being mindful of the content I consume and not letting it overpower my emotions. This is something I’ve always worked on, but during these troubling times, it’s important I limit my screen usage to not come across any information that can trigger and anger me.

Exercising. It doesn’t have to be anything major — it can be a simple stretch, just girl, get up and move your body.

🔥 Chapter o n e 💧

fic masterlist (A court of waves and flames)

Is this how it feels to die? She can't help but wonder. Lulled back and forth in a dark blue silence, no space, no time, no feels around. It wasn't calm, or fast, cold or warm. It simply was. And Faith started to forget when that was.

She has been submerged in water before. Both of her own free will and agressively against it. Both as a punishment and as means to sooth sore muscles, aching limbs, pained mind.

But it was nothing like this. This was death and birth muddled together in a state of existance, non-being.

How am I breathing? She struggled to think as her mind seemed to spread thiner and thiner. Each time harder to bring back together. As if she had to pull up an anchor caught between two big, strong rocks.

The void question brough a bit of sense back to Faith. Her almost immediate answer was another worrying question: Am I even breathing?

Perhaps she wasn't. Perhaps the only reason she wasn't dead was because death doesn't exist there. As soon as she'll be brought out, her water filled lungs will cease to fight. Then she'll choke, silently, non-violently, in her comatose sleep. Then she'll die. A simple course of action Faith had, ironically, been preparing for with each morning she opens her eyes.

Now that it came – under this peculiar form, no less – the young woman felt betrayed. Cheated. She could drown, if a storm, a marine monster or a rival ship attack burried her under waves and wrecks. But this calm nothingness, this neverending water she's been sinking in, were too far from her chosen life to accept.

No. Faith Archeron, the best pirate healer in the world, couldn't drown at the bottom of a Cauldron. Primordial deity or not.

Small currents circled her. Vibrating like a low chuckle. Finally. I have been waiting for you to come out and play. The water said. The noise – for it was no sound nor voice – echoed all around her. Passing through her skin, soaked in hungrily, rather than flying by her ears.

Too many questions stormed Faith's brain. What do you mean? What do you want? Who are you? They clashed and overlapsed, each erasing the other until only a mumble could be made out of.

The currents wind up again. The Cauldron's eerie chuckle. And its eerier noise spoke again.

I know you, Faith Archeron. You destined yourself for great things.

Finally, her mind woke up, hooking itself in the odd expression. The analitic side of her, the one used to asset the severity and number of wounds and come up with solutions on spot, took charge.

How do you mean I destined myself?

Do you truly think I or the Mother, the Spirits, the Gods, the Father truly have nothing better to do than write each of you, mortal and semi-mortal being's lives? But if you want to chat life philosophy, my dear girl, you'll never leave here. Better to tell me why don't you swim?

I can't. My limbs are heavy. The water holds me in place. I'm stuck.

You are changing, the Cauldron corrected. Don't you want to accept it?

I don't even know what I'm changing into. Why? I didn't choose this.

Are you certain, dear girl?

The Cauldron seemed to whitdraw somewhere deeper into itself. But this time it didn't leave silence behind for Faith to tingle inside. It tore open her mind and left the young woman to her thoughts. Desires so hidden she didn't even dare whisper inside the walls of her own mind.

A lifetime of adventure at sea. Too short, if she is human. Time flies and soon Faith wouldn't be able to hold her balance on shore, much less on the ever moving deck. And if she is hurt, or catches a sickness, it can kill her faster than she can heal it. She is always exposed to the risk.

The greatest fear paining her heart: to forget and be forgotten. Both shall happen with the frail old age of humans. She'll missplace dates and stories. Her family one day will remember her fondly, rather then live with her.

Love. She hasn't find it yet. And Faith isn't even looking for it yet. But she is curios. She might not get the chance to share a love so deep and meaningful like those who have centuries behind and millenias ahead.

Faith was proud to be human. To be the only human on board and one of the few who brave magic waters and still earn her titles fairely. To be the first human – one of the first and only beings, even – to make such a powerful name around sailors and other creatures of the sea of all sorts.

And she didn't crave power. She gained enough and what she couldn't, she made. But she didn't want to ever leave the life she found – the life she forged.

Faith never dared speak such wishes before. She'd shut them out, quickly look away from them. For they were in vain. But now...

Now you are becoming High Fae.

Faith smiled. A laugh threatened to slip past her lips. When I swim to the surface and get out, I'll be fae?

The Cauldron laughed at her hopeful, yet still incredulous tone. Yes.

And the simple confirmation brought forth Faith's reprised gidiness. She laughed, loudly. Her body was like freed from a spell, now swirling and moving inside the primordial water in a dance whose steps Faith didn't know and didn't understand. But it was fine for her heart did.

Unnoticed by the female, an arrow of warmth shoot through her body. Following the course of her veins and nerves, it spread from that place near the heart where lies the souls througout her entire body.

Now you're ready to ascend. Go! It's not good for you to stay under for so long.

It'd take a while until Faith will be able to wrap her mind around what happened once she is outside the Cauldron. All she will understand will be the fire in her lungs burning through what little oxhygen she managed to draw inside. A bitter cold wrapping her naked body in a constant tremble as she drains over the Cauldron's lip. And a pair of miss-matched eyes fixed on her.

"You're my mate."

One russet, one gold. And a stunned, involuntarily smile.

"You're my mate."

A whisper. A caress. A convinction. A prayer.

"You're my mate."

And a pair of chiseled amber arms wraping a green coat around her shoulders.

hi there! i saw a couple of your previous asks and as someone who is currently in therapy and recovering they are helping a lot. and if you dont mind, i would like to ask something personal myself. i have a lot of triggers and they are a great emotional burden. i get triggered almost every day, sometimes multiple times a day by different things. i want to know is there any way to stop engaging in them when they happen? and is it okay to do so? i try to calm down and use different techniques but i always find myself intensively checking if my triggers are true and normalizing what they are about. when i get triggered i try to expose myself to what triggered me but end up feeling even worse, to a point where it physically takes a toll on me. is it okay to just, not check them like that? as in also not actively look up triggering content? when i get triggered i just feel like i have to be okay with those things and never react since they are considered normal by everyone else and i feel very bad if i avoid the topics they evolve around cuz i dont want to burden anyone to hide things from me in case i react to them. i hope this makes sense, and thanks in advance x

i do believe in order to find resolution and peace we have to engage with our triggers in some sense. but it has to be in a manner that allows us to actually face our fears, release the stress of them from our body and transform them, rather than engaging with them in a way where they turn into stories, prophecies or shadows that haunt us.

i don't know what techniques you use, but an effective way to work through triggers and decrease their emotional charge is through EFT. when your decrease the emotional charge the frequency and intensity of the triggers will also decrease.

in case you aren't familiar with the process i'll explain.

when you're experiencing a trigger, identify the discomfort that you're feeling on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst. this gives you something to measure against when you're done with the process.

notice where the discomfort is in the body, and magnify it as much as possible. the more you intensify it is the more you can decrease the emotional charge.

then go through each tapping point gently, in my opinion it's okay if you're not sure if you're in exactly the right spot, as long as you're in the vicinity.

during the tapping you're going to be repeating a sentence. this sentence is structured by identifying the worst possible sentence you can attach to this discomfort. the point is to invoke the discomfort as much as possible so that you can let go as much as possible. it may seem counter intuitive, but that's how it works. so if for example you're triggered from being outside around a group of people, notice the discomfort and notice the belief/fear that accompanies it. it could be: "i worry they think i'm embarrassing." now to make it as intense as possible we're going to turn the sentence into: "everyone thinks i'm embarassing" as that's the vocalization of the fear.

then you're going to stitch your fear into the EFT structure like this:

"even though (fear/pain) i love and accept myself." = "even though everyone thinks i'm embarrassing i love and accept myself."

you can tap each point as many times as you feel like, and you can repeat the sentence as many times as you feel like it - and change it underway, if a new fear comes up.

when you're done see if you're at the same number on the scale or if it has decreased. and repeat until you're at a number you feel is comfortable.

it is absolutely okay to not force/urge yourself to check if your fears are true or to rummage over them. a way to really explore what this worry around letting go of interacting with your triggers in this way, is to ask yourself what you fear will happen if you stop? do you fear that if you let go of control, if you aren't in the know about everything that something bad will happen? if so, where did this belief come from? what did you experience that marked this belief for you?

when we go to control, to feeling as if we need to be in the know, it can often be about needing safety, and us subconsciously believing that the only way to get that is through control. all the body really needs here is a new way of interacting with the need for safety. how else can you make yourself feel safe? what activities do you find comforting? what thoughts would you like to believe in, instead? that's a good place to start.

you can't force yourself to be okay with something that your entire body and nervous system simply isn't comfortable with. it's the equivalent of being with a child who's afraid of heights and saying go to the top of this lighthouse alone and like it!

this will not make it easier for the child, the child will not like it, it will not normalize it to the point of being comfortable with it, it will scar the child.

what does the child (you) need to feel safe? what triggers are around you and what do they mean to you? what threat do they pose? it's okay if you need to physically go somewhere else, it's okay if you need to close your whole computer for a while, it's okay if you need to tell a loved one: this is affecting me, i need to do something low stimuli and gentle or i need you to remind me that i am safe.

yes, it's okay to not look at triggering content. the most loving thing to do for yourself in this scenario is to completely reject any form of triggering content while you work through this, or permanently. you don't have to engage with something that feels bad. you do not.

what happens inside anyone else in response to anything does not dictate what should or what does happen inside you in response to the same thing.

you are also allowed to call for help you need help, you're allowed to cry when it hurts, you're allowed to be heavy to carry when you feel heavy. you'll certainly be lighter to care for and to love when your allow others to help lift you. it's okay if others have to do something different to how they might otherwise operate to care for your well being. what happened to make you think you aren't allowed to have needs? aren't allowed to respond emotionally in the way that you do? you are allowed, and it does not matter if you weren't because no one can dictate their emotional responses.

Yarrowleaf AU

TW/CW: Drowning, Murder, Drugging, and Kidnapping (This didn’t change from canon btw, these books can be brutal sometimes). Please tell me if there are any more trigger/content warnings and tags I need to add.

Yarrowleaf joined The Kin alongside her sister Beenose. They lived there for a while before learning the truth about the group. They both try to escape but Darktail commands them to be killed, both her and Beenose are told to be drowned. 

Beenose was taken away before Yarrowleaf so when it was the ginger she-cats turn her poor sister was already dead. Seeing her sisters body gave Yarrowleaf enough strength to fight her attacked and escape. She ends up with Sleekwhisker and travels with the other she-cat to Skyclan after discovering she was pregnant with a Kin members kits, but both her and Sleekwhisker were turned away.

Thankfully her parents and former Shadowclan campmates harbour her in their abandoned camp so they can reason with Leafstar who later allows her and Sleekwhisker in so she can safely have Hopkit and Flaxkit.

Sleekwhisker, who is still loyal to The Kin, drugs her with poppy seeds and kidnaps her kits, bringing them to their biological father, Nettle. Yarrowleaf wakes up distraught over her kits and gratefully accepts Tawnypelt and Rowanclaws offer to help her find them.

When they do find them they are in a twolegs backyard, Nettle refuses to give back her kits despite how desperate Yarrowleaf was, so she attacked him. Tawnypelt saw her opportunity and grabbed the two kits before bolting away. Rowanclaw stayed to help Yarrowleaf as she tussled with the mangy tom. 

After a bit Yarrowleaf stood up and saw Nettles dead body, his head in the water of the pool just like her sisters. Rowanclaw told her that Tawnypelt had rescued her kits and that they were both safe to help calm her nerves. She nodded before kicking Nettles body into the pool, he didn’t deserve to rest in the same way her sister did.
