Sunight creeps languidly through the heavy drapes, heralding the persistent call of the waking world. The day has come, and in minutes, the entire room is bathed in golden light. You’re forced to relinquish the last dregs of sleep clinging to you. You roll over expecting to find Lucien beside you, only to see that his side of the bed is empty. You run your palm over the sheets and find them still warm.
With one last stretch, you pull yourself out of the bed and onto your feet. You wrap the blanket tightly around your shoulders, not ready to give up their warm embrace just yet. The manor is deathly quiet as you pad through the hallways as if the rest of the world is as reluctant to wake too. The persistent chill of winter remains in the air, the tiles as cool as ice beneath your feet. The blanket trails on the floor behind you, and you can already imagine the legendary scolding Jurian would give you if he were to catch you. You imagine Vassa would only laugh at you, if she wasn't too busy being a bird.
Thankfully, no such altercations occur, and you find Lucien sitting in the library, busy reading what you assume are reports from Prythian. He’s lounging by the fire, clad only in his rumpled, unbuttoned tunic and plain trousers. His legs are carelessly spread, his cheek resting on his hand - the picture of relaxed nonchalance. Lucien wears finery like a fine suit of armor, his bravado like a sword secured at his hip, and it’s rare to see him so unguarded, so candid. When he spots you, all bundled up, by the door, a bemused expression makes its way across his face.
“You left,” you sniff indignantly.
His only response to your complaint is a smirk. So you pad deeper into the room until you're standing in between his legs. The smug look on his face only seems to grow at the increased proximity.
“Why?” He asks. “Did you miss me?” Lucien’s eyes trail down your body with deliberate slowness, stalling over your exposed thighs. His hand comes up to grasp the side of your hip, a movement made instinctually, naturally, as though his existence only makes sense when you’re there, with him.
You don’t deign to respond, but you let him pull you onto his lap. He wraps his arms around you, tucking you under his chin as he continues to read. You sink onto him, enjoying the heat that perpetually radiates off his body. He’s basically a sentient furnace, your love. Your hands trail beneath his shirt and he jolts the moment your cold hands make contact with his skin.
“Mother’s tits, you’re freezing.” He exclaims, wiggling in his seat.
“Because you left,” you retort, running your hands languidly over his back. Goosebumps rise in the wake of your touch. “This is your doing, miscreant.”
Lucien cackles but recovers. “Apologies, my lady,” Lucien says with exaggerated gravity, his hand over his chest. “I’m adequately chastised. I’ll be sure never to abandon you in bed again.”
“You better,” you threaten, trying to fight the smile from emerging on your lips. “Or else I’ll find someone else to warm my bed.”
Lucien stiffens, holding you tighter against him as if readying to fight off anyone who dares to draw near. With his hand on your chin, he lifts your head to meet his gaze.
“What was that?” He speaks, something dangerous lingering in the depths of his words.
You raise your brow in challenge. “I said, if you keep leaving me I’ll find-“
He shuts you up with his lips on yours, but it’s a soft fragile thing. His lips move against yours like the back and forth of a waltz. Lucien pulls you tighter into his embrace, enveloping you in the scent of sandalwood, cinnamon, and smoke. You melt against him and think that you could stay like this forever, as long as you’re with him. You want to lay here even as the world cracks and burns around you, until the both of you are covered in ivy, moss, and memory.
As if sensing the direction of your thoughts, Lucien deepens the kiss. Your lips willingly part for him and he licks into your mouth, eager for a taste. His hands are molten against your skin, kneading the pliant flesh of your hips from where your nightgown has ridden up. You can feel his chest expand as he inhales your scent as if reminding himself that you’re with him, in this moment, and there you will remain until your body gives out from the force of loving him.
Eventually, the two of you have to break the kiss. Just there, his forehead on yours, breathing the other in. Idly, you tap your finger over the freckles on his chest, parsing them like constellations in the night sky. You wonder what prophecies you’d be able to divine in the shapes they take. You press a kiss on the freckle over his beating heart, and Lucien shudders beneath your touch.
You move to the wealth of freckles spread across his cheek, over his nose, then on his chin. Lucien pretends to be preoccupied with the reports, but it’s a losing battle. There’s a ghost of a smile on his lips, and you plant a soft, chaste kiss at the upturned corner. You kiss him like he’s an object of worship, and only your heart, your body, your whole being would be a worthy sacrifice.
“Is that the only thanks I get for being your sentient, walking furnace?” He teases, brow arched, but not unkindly. “Threats and a few kisses?” Beams of sunlight hit his face like a lattice of amber, accentuating his sharp features, and setting his russet eye ablaze. And it strikes you just how damn pretty he is, scars and all.
“I’d prefer it if my sentient furnace did not walk away at all,” you retort, raising your brow in turn.
“Ungrateful,” he teases, even as he begins to trail tender kisses over your neck. “You’re lucky I adore you, dearly.”
You huff, pretending his words haven’t set you aflame in a way only he can.
“I suppose,” you begin, tapping your finger over your chin. “I could be persuaded to thank you properly if you go back to bed with me.”
Lucien glances at the report and pretends to consider it for three whole seconds, before setting it down the table with finality. He smiles, as bright as the sun, beautiful, blinding, yours.
“Let's go then,” he says, as he easily carries you back to your room.

AN:
Hello! I’m new to this fandom & I’d love to hear your thoughts. 💙
i’ve been so obsessed with Lucien recently. I made art of him and I love how people kept mentioning his freckles so here is we are. + I hate the cold and had the thought that Lucien would be the perfect person to cuddle up to in winter.

Good Little Human
Day 3: Threesome — Tamlin x Lucien x f!reader
Warnings: fingering, oral (m receiving), p in v
Word count: 1.066
Tumblr media
When you wandered too far from home and accidentally crossed the wall into the faerie lands a month ago, the last thing you expected to happen was to find yourself in the High Lord of the Spring Court's bedroom, squashed between him and his emissary. But it had happened almost every night for the past two weeks, and today was no different.
Lucien was in front of you, a hand on your breast and the other in your hair as you shared a passionate kiss. Behind you, Tamlin had his arms around you, and he was leaving kisses and nips along your nape while his fingers slipped under your short nightgown. Only to stop abruptly once he realized that you weren’t wearing any underwear.
He groaned into your neck before pulling away. “Lucien,” he called, his voice a low growl.
Lucien broke the kiss and looked at his friend over your shoulder. Tamlin didn’t say anything, and instead simply pushed the hem of your nightgown up to your hips, exposing your bare cunt.
You chuckled as Lucien’s eyes dropped to your core and he breathed in deeply.
“Naughty,” he murmured with a smirk. His hand tightened in your hair, but the other one moved from your breasts to your legs, both him and the High Lord now caressing your thighs, your hips, your ass. Enough to make you sigh, but not quite where you needed them.
“Why wear them when you’re going to take them off soon after?” You shrugged irreverently. “I figured I’d save you the trouble.”
Tamlin’s laugh skittered down your back, and when he pulled you closer once more, you felt his cock against your ass. “Very considerate, princess,” he breathed in your ear.
Lucien let his fingers wander dangerously close to your clit, but still didn’t touch you there.
“What do you think, Tam?” he mused. “Should we give her a reward?”
The High Lord peppered your shoulder with kisses and then—finally—dipped a finger between your folds. Wetness was starting to pool there and you sighed, shifting slightly to grant him better access.
“Look at her, all so eager,” he murmured. “I think she does deserve a reward.”
You moaned when he pumped two fingers into you, Lucien drawing circles on your clit while he claimed your mouth again. Tamlin’s other arm curled around you and his hand slipped under your neckline to cup your breast. You began to rock your hips, their combined movements quickly bringing you higher and higher until a breathy groan slipped past your lips and was swallowed by Lucien’s kiss.
Tamlin curled his fingers inside you one last time before he pulled away. You whimpered at his absence, and then again when Lucien removed his hand soon after.
“No…” you whined softly, squirming between them.
They both chuckled.
“I would say she’s ready for us, Lu.” Tamlin’s teeth grazed your earlobe. “Don’t you think?”
Lucien brushed his thumb over your lower lip and you eagerly took it in your mouth, desperate for something—anything—that would ease the aching need deep in your belly. But he just smirked and pulled his hand back.
“Oh, she’s more than ready.”
You nodded, turning so you could see Tamlin as well. “Yes… Yes, I’m ready. Just tell me how you want me.”
The two males smiled as they exchanged a glance. They seemed to silently agree on how they would take you this time, but they didn’t bother to share it with you. Well, you would find out soon enough anyway.
They helped you sit up on the bed, and all your clothes were quickly discarded. Both their cocks were hard and leaking and you just wanted to reach out and wrap your fingers around them.
Your eyes must have given it away, because Tamlin caressed your cheek. “Go on, princess.”
You wasted no time. You took both of them in your hands, smearing the precum along their shafts. While you pumped them, you leaned closer to place little kisses on Lucien’s tip before moving to Tamlin and running your tongue from his base to his head.
Something snapped in the High Lord’s eyes and a muscle ticked in his jaw. A low growl came from deep in his throat and he suddenly pulled you away. Next thing you knew, he was lying on the bed and you were straddling his hips, your back to him as you faced Lucien.
“I need to be inside you,” he grumbled, strong hands holding you up only to lower you on his cock.
You cried out as you sank onto him, but he was already thrusting up into you, and Lucien had moved closer, now on his knees in front of you. He buried a hand in your hair and guided your mouth down to his cock, groaning when you obediently closed your lips around him.
Lewd sounds filled the room: Tamlin’s low grunts, Lucien’s soft moans, your muffled whimpers, and the constant slapping of skin on skin.
“Such a good little human for us,” Tamlin drawled from behind you. His words were accentuated by a deeper thrust up into you, the sudden movement making you gag around Lucien’s cock. “Taking us both so well.”
The praise had you clenching around him, and he hissed, fingers digging into your hips as he fucked you harder.
“I’m going to fill you up if you do that again, princess.”
You might be a good little human for them, but you wanted to be even better. You squeezed your walls again around his cock and earned a deep groan in return.
Tamlin grunted, his thrusts now frantic as he chased his orgasm. Picking up on it, Lucien held your head in place by your hair and took the lead in fucking your mouth to chase his own.
You came just as you felt Tamlin’s seed paint your walls white, but even as he stilled and you shook, Lucien didn’t stop. His face was a mask of pure bliss—scar contorted in pleasure, eyes closed—and with one final deep thrust that had his cock hit the back of your throat, his cum filled your mouth. You swallowed every drop.
Tamlin was caressing your ass and thighs now, and Lucien looked down at you with a smirk. He brushed the hair out of your face as he pulled out.
“Such a good little human, indeed.”

Dreaming of You
Lucien x Reader smut
warnings: smut, breeding kink, oral f!receiving, p in v sex
Tumblr media
A breathy moan flowed from your lips, eyes twisted shut as pleasure rolled through you. Your fingers wound through Lucien’s long hair, gently encouraging the flick of his tongue against your swollen clit.
“Luc, please. I need you inside of me,” you pleaded, voice a soft whine as you peered down at your mate. You stifled another whine as his warm lips left your heat, looking over your round belly to meet your gaze.
His hand rose to softly rub the bump on your stomach, lips pressing a reverent kiss to your womb. A mischievous glint shone in his eye, toned body sliding along yours as he settled over you.
“Always so greedy. We haven’t even had this one yet, and you’re begging me to fuck you full?” He teased, tongue licking up the shell of your ear as his hand slid to your heavy, swollen breast.
You moaned, writhing beneath him in a weak attempt to get closer, silently cursing your full womb as your hips wound against nothing. “Yes, please, Lucien. Just please, fill me up,” you nearly cried, slick seeping onto the sheets beneath you.
“As my mate wishes,” Lucien purred, his full lips finding yours as his hands spread your legs as far as they were able, hips settling over your own. You gasped at the feel of his cock against your core, Lucien taking the opportunity to push his tongue past your lips.
He stroked your tongue in tandem with his hips, both of them warm as his cock slid between your folds, coating himself in your arousal.
“Cauldron, Lucien, please stop teasing,” you pleaded, trying to arch into him. A soft chuckle left his lips, minty breath soft mingling with your own.
“Apologies, my love. Allow me to make it up to you,” Lucien murmured. You swore you could feel the fire in his veins as his thick cock thrust inside of you to the hilt, the stretch sending waves of pleasure rolling through you.
“Yes, Luc,” you moaned, nails raking down his back as your mate thrust deeply, slowly into you. It was perfect, erotic, passionate, and you thought you could die of pleasure. Just as you felt the coil inside of you tighten, legs shaking from the pleasure Lucien was giving you, his hand shook your arm, drawing your attention from the moment.
You gasped, eyes blinking rapidly to take in the dark room around you, your mate laying next to you with a concerned expression on his face. You looked down to see your stomach at its normal size, Lucien’s hand on your arm as his thumb gently stroked the skin there.
“Hey,” he murmured. “You were talking in your sleep. Everything okay?”
Flushing furiously, you glanced around the room as you came back to reality. Your hand absentmindedly found your stomach, stroking the place where your child was in your dream.
Looking up at your mate, you granted Lucien a soft smile. “I was dreaming about you,” you whispered. “And I was pregnant.” Eyes lined with silver as you mourned a life you didn’t know you had wanted, missing the child you didn’t have.
“Is that what you want, my love?” Lucien asked softly. Then, taking in your expression, the scent of arousal growing in the room, he smirked. “You want me to breed you? To make babies with you?”
He slid across your body, stiff cock grinding against your soaked core. “I’m going to fill you up, full of my seed. And when I’m done, I’ll stuff my cum back inside of you with my cock and go again.”
Your breaths grew short, dizzying pleasure overtaking your senses as you felt Lucien’s warm hands pushing up the hem of your nightgown. “Yes, Luc. That’s what I want.”
“Then that’s what shall be, sunshine,” your mate promised, voice thick as he trailed a path of kisses down your neck and chest. Lower, lower, lower.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: he needs you but you're asleep
warnings: smut, somnophilia
w/c: 1.1k
a/n: im ovulating and i got carried away so yes
Tumblr media
lucien comes home late at night. he's so tired. all he wants is a warm bath and some good sleep. he doesn't find you waiting for him as usual, tho. it's weird. he's used to be climbed like a tree by you as soon as he step into the house, but tonight you are not there.
he searches for you everywhere only to find you asleep in your shared bed, wearing one of his shirts and hugging his pillow.
he basically falls in love with you all over again. you're the prettiest angel he has ever seen in his entire life. he can't tear his eyes off of you. he steps closer, careful not to wake you up. one of your legs is hooked around the pillow, exposing your skin.
he realizes you're not wearing anything underneath. your sex is exposed for him and him only. you had fallen asleep like a good girl, waiting for him to come back. his cock stiffens in his pants, begging to be freed.
lucien can't keep his hands to himself. the soft skin of your thighs and  ass just looks so inviting... he starts with gentle and innocent caress, just wanting to feel your warmth. but he wants more. you've been a good girl for him, and you deserve a reward. he is careful not to wake you up when he quickly gets up and undress himself.
he slowly pulls up the shirt just enough to discover your lower back. he quickly licks his lips, his throat suddenly dry at the view. he's exhausted, and you're probably too, but he cant bring himself to stop, his blood his boiling in his veins.
he needs to restrain. you are helpless, you didnt even notice him. he could take you right now without any problem, but it's not fair. but... that's exactly what is turning him on so much he has to unzip his pants to free his cock - you're defenceless, free for him to use. his little princess.
his hand moves between your folds, the touch of his fingertips barely there, just enough to cover your skin in goosebumps. but you dont seem to notice, and he goes on undisturbed. his fingers find with expert movements your little button, circling it slowly. his eyes are fixated on your face, looking for any sign that you might be awake. your breath fastens, but your still very asleep.
with his other hand he pumps his cock a few times, some droplets of precum already leaking from his red and angry looking tip. he gently moves you on your back, and the vision is ethereal. the shirt - his shirt, his so thin that he can see your nipples through the frabric. all he wants to do his putting his mouth over them and worship you like you deserve. but tonight it's not about you. its about him.
he opens your legs, your sex now exposed more than ever. if you were awake, you would probably complain with red cheeks, embarrassment filling your mind. but now... he can do whatever he wants. he is not ashamed to admit that this type of control makes him go crazy.
he change position. now he's between your legs, his nose just mere millimetres from your centre. lucien could feast on you like you were the last meal in the whole Prythian, but he doesnt. he wants to make this moment last for the entire eternity, thats why he licks your folds slowly, to taste the waters. to see how you would react. you let out a sigh, your face relax even more, but other than that - nothing.
his tongue naturally searches for your entrance, hungry for the sweet nectar you're the only one capable of providing for him. his pace quickens a bit, eager to feed himself. his cock is so hard its painful, but he couldn’t care less at the moment. this is like heaven, he thinks, maybe he's dead, maybe he's really in heaven.
but its all real, expecially when he hears your little moans. he forces himself to slow down and watch your pretty face that is scrunched in a pleasured expression. he uses his hands to keep you in place, massaging your skin with a softness that causes a dark contrast with the way he's eating you out. his thumb finds your clit. lucien is needy to hear you sing for him. a particularly loud whimper excape your lips the moment he starts to draw circles on the bundle of nerves, his tongue burning inside you, deeper and deeper.
"lucien..?" you're so confused on what's happening, a moment ago you were alone in your bed and now a red head is between your legs. you're about to ask for explanation, but lucien doesnt stop his movements and the feeling washes all the coherent thoughts in your mind. "shhh..." he groans, the vibration from the sound just adding to the pleasure. "just enjoy, pretty." it might sound like an invitation, but his hand locks you in the bed and you cant move or protest even you want. not that you want, tho.
his circles on you clit became tigher and tigher, just like the knot thats quickly forming in your stomach. you call his name so many times it sounds like a chanter, you're not sure if you're complaining or asking for more with your pleas, but hes not listening either. "i'm... I'm so close, lu." you cry out. you wish you could move to stand on your elbows and look at him, but you're too afraid he will stop. instead, you just lay there and take what he gives you. "let go, love. let go." he can feel your walls spasming around his tongue, your cunt begging for release.
you're lucky that its exactly what he wants to give you. with one last lick, you fall over the edge. its like fireworks exploding under your skin, a feeling you will never get used to. he helps you get through it, keeping you in place as you try to arch your back. his tongue and hus fingers dont stop until you're begging for him to do so.
he press one last kiss to your sex and quickly climbs you, positioning himself on top of you, between your legs. "hello there." he says softly, his nose brushes your neck, breathing your scent. you smile. your hands, that just moments ago were gripping the sheets, now find their place on his hair, giving him some comfort.
a hard presence presses on your belly, reminds you that tonight is not over. he smirks just like a fox and position himself so his tip brushes against your centre. "i hope you didnt think it was over, love." oh, you have a long, long night ahead of you.

hope you enjoyed! ♡

Follow You Fenrys x Reader x Azriel
Tumblr media
Summery: 30 years ago, Y/N fell through a portal and woke up in Prythian naked an afraid. She counted herself lucky that she was found by the shadowsinger and his high lord, who took her in and gave her a home. Despite their hospitality she dreamed of her home and the mate she left behind, Fenrys, who searched for her until one day.. he finds her.
AN:- GUYS this fanfic has legit been keeping me up at night so I thought I would share it with you all hahaha!!.
The light of the morning sun edged its head between the crack in the curtains, Azriel knew you were still asleep in the bed you shared, still snuggled between the sheets. He cursed himself for not coming through the door and choosing to fly straight to the balcony after work, spy work. Slowly he pushed the door open and poked his head inside. Relieved to see he hadn't wakened you up, he walked inside, spreading his wings to block out the rising sun from your face. Closing the door he walked over to his side of the bed, sat down and started kicking off his boots when he heard you stir behind him. "You're home late" You groan as he tips his head over his shoulder to look at you "Did something happen?" you continue and shuffle along the bed to make some room. "No, just had some reports to write up" Azriel answered as he slid into bed and wrapped you in his arms. Smiling softly, you nuzzled into his chest, still cold from riding on the wind to get home. You hummed sleepily and allowed yourself to fall back into that familiar comfort he offered you and began to dream.
30 Years Earlier Terrasen, your home as wild and free as your queen, Aelin. You sat at the dining table with Lysandra and Aedion as they spoke softly to their adoptive daughter. You hummed to yourself as you worked on the jewelry in your hand, slowly needling little diamonds onto it. You were so deep in concentration you didn't notice your mate's approach until his large hands landed on your shoulders, jolting you slightly. "Fen!" you yelp turning in your seat to look back at the golden male. Fenry's smiled down to you, his large canines making his smile look a little more sinister than he attended. "Did I scare you?" he chuckled, sliding into the seat next to you after placing a small kiss to the top of your head. "No" you lie and continue working on the necklace you're working on for Lysandra. You felt him move closer to you, his nose buried in your hair as he inhaled your sent "why don't we go for a swim? get your mind off this" he purred, his hand coming up to cover the necklace in your hand. You felt the want for him almost immediately, the hot pool in the pits of your stomach started to raise its head at his tone of voice. "There is a child present" Aedion snapped from the other side of the table, drawing both sets of eyes to him. Both you and your mate chuckled and decided to leave the room, together.
Fenrys was your typical fae male mate, he never left your side unless he needed to, he was territorial and protective... but what you loved most about him was he was fun. His golden hair was tied back in a bun, showing off his high cheekbones and sharp jaw line that made him look delicious. His onyx eyes slid to yours as a small smirk rose on his lips " like what you see?" he asked as he wrapped a toned, golden arm around your waist. "Always" you answer matching his smirk with your own. Your answer made his smile grow into his normal shit-eating grin, you roll your eyes playfully and rest your head on his shoulder as you continue making your way outside. The warm air kissed your skin as you opened the door to the courtyard, it was a beautiful day.
You and Fenrys skinny dipped in the lake not far from the keep, splashing each other playfully while swimming around in the cool water. What neither mate realized was this was the last day they were going to spend together, the last happy memory they would share before you were stripped from his arms in the middle of the night.
And dumped in Prythian.
Present Day
Mate, mate, mate, mate.
You miss your mate. As the dream rattles you awake you realise that Az is still asleep next to you, guilt hits you so fast you run out of the room and into the bathroom to throw up. As you retch into the toilet bowl you hear Az approach the bathroom and knock softly from the other side of the door. "Another dream?" he asks as he enters the room and crouches beside you to rub soothing circles on your back. "My mate" you answer as you peer at him between strands of fallen hair. He nods slowly, understanding the pain you feel and tucks some strands behind your ear. "Did you dream of falling again?" he asks, his voice as soft and gentle as silk. You nod once in response as your gut twists again threatening to spill more into the toilet bowl. Azriel was the most understanding person you had ever met, you weren't always with him, you were friends first. He was the one to find you that day, laying cold and naked on the forest floor. He took you to Rhysand, where he looked into your mind and saw everything, your home, your family.. Fenrys. It had taken some time for both sides to trust you, but in those years that Rhys was under the mountain you had grown close with the inner circle. Particularly Az. He knew your past, knew of the mate that you had been ripped away from... but he loved you all the same and was willing to give you the time you needed.
So here you both sat in front of the toilet bowl for the thousandth time in your relationship. Him giving you soft soothing words while you mourned the loss of your mate and your life. After some time, he scooped you into his arms and placed you back into bed. ......................
Later that day you sat in the living room with Feyre and Nyx, laughing as you watched the young lad learn to walk but failing. A warm cup of tea sat in your hands, the heat slightly burning the sensitive flesh of your palm, but you ignored it. Azriel had been called on by Cassian, something about a disturbance near the Illyrian camps they had to check out. He placed a warm kiss on your cheek before he flew off with his brother. "Any improvement?" Nesta asked as she walked into the room and plopped onto the couch next to you. "Hardly" Feyre answered as she took the babe back into her arms and planted kisses all over his face, making nyx scream in laughter. You and Nesta smiled as Nyx's fits of giggles filled the room, you looked to Nesta and offered her the cup in your hands. "its still warm" you prod as you hand the tea to her, she sips it then hands it back to you.
You and Nesta were best friends, she was a huge bitch to you at the start but recently... she's been the only person besides Az that understands your pain, your longing for home. She's also the only person in this whole house that reads dirty smut books with you.
"Bleh, I hate peppermint tea" she croons as she pulls a face, looking at the cup in your hands. "But its good for you" you jest and give her a sweet smile, bringing the tea back to your own lips. You and Nesta spend the rest of the afternoon talking and watching her nephew rise and fall. Feyre is about to out Nyx down for a nap when Rhysands voice fills your head.
"Come to the forest at once"
You and Feyre share a look, obviously she had been given orders to winnow you there. She quickly explains this all to Nesta then plops her son into her sisters hands, you hadn't had time to say anything to Nesta before Feyre grabbed you and winnowed away to the forest. Snow crunched under your feet as you landed behind the three warriors. Cassian, Az and Rhysand all had their weapons out and their backs turned to you. The wind hit your body so hard it almost knocked you backwards, the smell of pine and snow filling your senses as you tried to blink away the stinging in your eyes. "I don't want to fight you" came a rough voice that didn't belong to the three males in front of you, but did belong to someone you knew. Rowan, your oldest cousin and longest friend. Stalking forward you pushed through the three males that shielded you, you could have fell to your knees as Rowan's eyes met your own. A hand flew in front of you protectively, but you knocked it away as you ran to him, calling his name over and over. "y/n!" Rowan shouted, dropping his sword so he could wrap you in his arms. "How? How?" You asked as you buried your face into your cousin's neck, your body shaking as he held you against him. "Aelin, she worked it out" he explained as he pulled you away from him, his eyes darting from one side of your face to another taking in everything you were and everything you are. The Night Court stood behind you in complete shock, their faces blank as they watched the scene unfold in front of them. Azriel felt the pull to go and comfort you but held strong, not knowing this male and how he would react. Then a crunch of twigs caught their attention, a small blonde female emerged from the forest surrounding them, a small ball of fire danced in her palm as she walked towards you and rowan. You looked to Aelin for the first time in 30 years, she looked slightly older but unchanged from the Aelin in your memories. You didn't even shout her name, as she approached you fell to your knees and placed your head on the snow below you. "Aelin, forgive me" you pleaded to her, to your queen "I tried to come home but-" you continued but your words hitched in your throat as you felt her body call over yours. "Don't apologies you idiot" she said against your skin, slowly you raised and hugged her back while rowan stared down the night court still behind you. "Should we introduce ourselves?" Cassian mumbled to no one in particular catching your attention. You take Aelin's hand and help her stand; you walk her and your cousin over to your friends and make introductions. "This is your cousin?" Cassian asked, nodding his head to Rowan as he stood with Aelin, a protective arm wrapped around her waist as he held her close. You nodded in response and looked up to the white hair male, his green eyes still darted between each person in front of him. " He is a bit of a brute" you say as you turn your attention back to the night court, earning a small smile from Feyre and a chuckle from Az. It hit you then, Azriel was here and had watched you reunite with your family, your court. You took a few steps toward him, but he held up his hand stopping you from coming any closer, confused, you nodded and stood still. Rhysand invited Aelin and Rowan to stay in the townhouse while the night court discussed their next move, they obliged and allowed Rhy's to winnow them away. "You must be happy" Feyre said coming to your side and wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "I am" you said smiling back to her " I could go home" you continue softly. Feyre looks over her shoulder to Az who stares emotionless into the distance, she sighs and then turns her head forward again and whispers "he will miss you". You feel that guilt from earlier pang around in your chest again, you don't dare to look back at the shadowsinger, you and he both knew that your time together had just come to an end. " I will miss him too" you confess as Rhys winnows back to the forest.
"Come on, I will take you to be alone with them" Rhy's says and extends a tanned hand to you, smiling you leave Feyre's embrace and fit your hand in his. Not looking back as he takes you to the family you have dreamed of every night for the last 30 years.

Y/n refused to leave her room. After the starfall party the night before, Y/n knew she needed to recharge herself.
Faint sounds of laughter and early afternoon greetings reached Y/n through the closed windows, and as she laid in bed, wishing for her husband, it simply seemed unfathomable to her that anyone could wish to get dressed for the day willingly. Why would a person not want to lie in bed and eat all day? Who chose going out over staying home?
Not her, that was for sure.
Lucien had been sent to the day court on an emissary mission early in the morning. Rhysand had urgently contacted Lucien to go and retrieve books from Helion’s extensive libraries. Just like eight years ago, Rhysand once again was on a panicked rampage through the seven courts to find something to help his mate with her pregnancy.
The two had decided that Nyx was enough, but then he had grown and began demanding for a younger sibling.
Rhysand and Feyre could not deny, understandably so.
No one could deny the young lordling anyways. Y/n knew she would give her life for him if he asked. Just like she would for her husband.
Her annoyance had flared when Lucien had disentangled himself from her embrace and started searching for his discarded clothes, explaining that Rhysand required his presence.
She understood the importance of the situation. That did not mean she liked it.
Y/n was ready to tug and tug on the bond so Lucien would come home sooner when she heard the front door opening and steps coming closer.
The moment the door to the bedroom opened, Y/n smiled at his silhouette, who remained still for a moment before lighting up the faelights. "My love, why are you sitting here in the dark? Did you eat the breakfast I left?"
Y/n shook her head, gazing up at him innocently. "I was sleepy."
He shook his head, lips quirked up. "Is it because of yesterday? Too much social interaction?"
Somehow, even to Y/n’s wonder, Lucien had fallen in love with someone who was the complete opposite of him. He thrived in crowds, while Y/n glowed in solitude. He bloomed under the sun, while she relaxed at night.
He always said, opposites attract.
And maybe they did.
"Luc, I need cuddles."
He sighed, grinning softly before dimming the faelights and opening the curtains. "You will eat first, then we can cuddle."
Y/n pouted, but nodded nonetheless. He hurried downstairs to get the baked goods and tea he had made, then settled next to Y/n. He let her wrap herself in the blanket and sit idly while he fed her the croissants and buttered bread while telling her about his trip to Day court.
Y/n giggled when Lucien pecked her nose after he was done with the brunch, putting away the trays and snuggling into Y/n under the blanket.
"I love you." He mumbled, dropping his head onto her shoulder.
"I love me too."
He sighed, nipping at her collarbones until she gave in.
"I love you too."

The Nesting Fox
Tumblr media
After five years of being mated, you and Lucien are eagerly awaiting the arrival of your first litter. As you enter the seventh month of your pregnancy, Lucien returns home from his Emissary duties to find you meticulously rearranging the baby's room, consumed by the need to prepare the space for your growing family. Sensing your stress, Lucien takes it upon himself to ease your worries by drawing a warm bath for you and offering comforting words to soothe your nerves.

Tumblr media
As the warm afternoon sun painted the cottage in a golden hue and gently streamed through the windows, you hustled about, checking off tasks from your never-ending to-do list. Your little kit wasn't due for another two months, but time seems to go too fast and too slow while pregnant. You know you have all the necessities and have their room prepared, but that doesn’t stop the nagging feeling that there’s still more to do, leaving you restless.
Your best friend Mor has been taking you shopping for baby items and garments to replace your weekly pre-pregnancy coffee dates, and despite your complaints about the extra laundry, you do love spending time with her, however it may be. With your family living in the Night Court and you being heavily pregnant in the Spring Court, it’s easy to feel lonely, but Mor winnows in and catches up with you as if you never left. Aside from her visits, you keep busy preparing for the baby’s arrival by repeatedly cleaning and shuffling things around until it's just right.
Today's list of tasks includes organizing the new clothes in the baby’s dresser, dusting—a task that seems pointless in the Spring Court—and baking snickerdoodle muffins because the baby wants snickerdoodle muffins.
Lucien has had to remind you numerous times to take it easy. He frequently comes home to find you doing something you are not supposed to and swiftly ushers you to a chair. Pregnancy has not been the kindest to you, but you haven’t let it slow you down yet. You wouldn’t be his relentlessly energetic mate if you just sat around doing something mundane like knitting.
Before discovering you were pregnant, you and Lucien spent your days outdoors or traveling across Prythian and the Continent. You were far from being a passive couple. Besides, the basket storing away the yarn and needles became riddled with dust ages ago. It was a lovely gift from a Lord in the Day Court after your wedding ceremony inside the palace, but the longest you’ve sat still was when your previous High Lord, Rhysand, let you hold his son Nyx during a casual meeting in the River House. Babysitting Nyx occasionally has helped ease some of your worries about becoming a mother. Still, your mind was in a constant war between being confident in your abilities and thinking the absolute worst would happen and you would fail at being a mother.
Lucien has been your unwavering support during the most challenging days, helping you combat negative thoughts. He reminds you to breathe and trust that both of you will be loving, nurturing parents. You don’t know if it’s just everyday prenatal stress or the hormones making you an anxious, compulsive mess, but Lucien has remained his kind, witty, and ever-attentive self. He always knows what you need, whether you are cleaning the house inside-out until your feet swell or crying and raging about being out of sugar, and now ‘the baby will be sad.’ He bites down his retort about the baby's inability to conceptualize anything about the situation every time. Instead, he holds you, massages your feet, and goes to the shops as soon as they open.
When you first found out you were pregnant, it was after a trip to the Summer Court with Lucien as his plus-one on an emissary trip. The two of you had dined on shrimp and pasta among Tarquin and his courtiers. After dinner, Lucien attended a private meeting with Tarquin, Cresseida, and Varian while you returned to your shared suite. As you bathed and got ready for bed, you noticed you felt nauseous but thought you must have overindulged during dinner. You had just opened your nightly read when the urge to vomit was too strong to swallow down. You ran to the toilet and heaved until there was nothing left. Afterward, you brushed your teeth and requested a servant bring you a cup of ginger tea. You didn’t initially tell Lucien for fear he would fuss over you instead of focusing on why you were in the Summer Court. You had hoped an ingredient just didn’t settle well with your stomach and you would feel better shortly.
The trip lasted for three days, and as per Summer Court, every dish contained seafood. After each meal, you found yourself in the nearest bathroom, throwing up what little you had eaten. Lucien became concerned, noticing that you would run off, but you assured him you were fine and that the spices were giving you an upset stomach. He gave you a skeptical look, not believing your excuse due to your frequent travels and exposure to various cuisines. Still, he accepted you were keeping your bathroom habits private, as any gentleman would.
When you touched down in the Spring Court, and Lucien ran off to meet with Tamlin, you found the nearest healer. Something was wrong. You loved seafood. Not every Summer Court dish is delicious, particularly the scallop omelet, but shrimp was one of your favorites, and you threw it up every time. The meals made you sick after you ate, and the smells began to nauseate you as soon as they appeared on the table.
You were shocked when the healer informed you nothing was wrong but that you were pregnant. Your mind became a torrent of different emotions: fear, excitement, hope, and more fear. You and Lucien had stopped taking contraceptive tonics years ago with the knowledge you could become pregnant, but something about it happening made you question everything. Were you ready for a baby? What if Lucien changed his mind and didn’t want children with you? Would you be a good mother? The internal turmoil had paralyzed you, rooting you to the ottoman before the fireplace. That’s how Lucien found you after he met with Tamlin, and he knelt by your side, asking you what was wrong. You hesitated initially, but Lucien whispered encouragement in your ear, and you eventually told him you were pregnant. His gold and russet eyes lit up joyfully and immediately soothed your worries. He assured you he still wanted children with you— lots of them, even–that you would be the best mother, and between his salary and both of your families, obtaining everything the baby would need would be no problem.
A few months into your pregnancy, you and Lucien went on ‘Tour De Baby,’ as he called it, celebrating the news with family and friends. The two of you attended a formal dinner with Tamlin, and Helion and Lady Autumn hosted a baby shower. Eris insisted on visiting him and the hounds so they could ‘learn the kit’s scent,’ and your family in the Inner Circle guided you and Lucien on a rare, non-alcoholic night out through Velaris. Seeing your families so excited to meet your little one made your heart swell with adoration and gratitude. Even if your family was spread across three courts, your baby has a formidable village of warriors and High Lords who loved them endlessly, and that was more than you could ever ask for.
The tantalizing scent of snickerdoodle muffins baking in the oven filled the cozy cottage as you set out to rearrange the baby's room. As you surveyed the room, you realized the crib was too close to the window. What if the moon's light wakes up the little one? You quickly decided to move it. Then, you noticed a framed picture precariously hanging above the changing table. You couldn't risk it falling and hurting the baby, so you made a mental note to relocate it as well. As you stepped back, you noticed that the dresser seemed slightly off-center, prompting you to adjust its position.
Lucien heard a distinct dragging sound across the wooden floor as he walked through the front door. Curious, he followed the noise and poked his head into the room. "Release the dresser immediately," he demanded, a playful glint in his eyes. "What exactly are you up to, my sly little fox?" A mischievous smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he noticed your blush.
“I was just tidying a few things up,” you replied sheepishly, putting the dresser back on the ground.
With a playful smirk, he hoisted the dresser and carefully set it in its new spot, perfectly aligned against the wall. Sauntering over to where you stood, he took hold of your hands and teased, "Is destroying our poor floors your idea of tidying up?”
You inhale sharply, glancing around the room and blinking back tears. “I just want everything to be perfect,” you whispered.
Lucien’s face softened with understanding as he pulled you into his chest, wrapping one arm around your waist and cradling your head with the other. “I know, my love, but do you know what I want?”
“For your mother to send me her apple pie recipe?”
He chuckled before shaking his head. “I’m not opposed, but no. I want you to be healthy. I want our baby to be healthy. And then I want all of us to be happy. That’s it. That’s all I could ever ask for.”
The dam of tears you held back burst as you listened to your partner's sincere words. “I feel like there’s so much left to do. I know we have gotten so much done, but I can’t help but stress about what else we can do,” you whined.
“Oh, darling,” he sighed. He cupped your cheeks and wiped your tears away with the pads of his thumbs. “Perhaps you subconsciously feel the more work you find, the more ready you will feel, but that is not how it works, unfortunately. We still have two months left, but I promise you we will be ready. You are ready. I have complete faith that you will be a natural once our kit is born. As for being physically ready, you’ve handled it all, my love. All that shopping with Mor and planning lists with Feyra paid off. I told you to leave some work for me,” he winked.
You snorted, smacking his chest lightly. “You’ve hardly let me do anything. You made me sit in that chair,” you pointed to the rocking chair in the corner, “while you built the crib, installed the bookshelf, and made me stay at Tamlin’s manor for two days while you painted the room.”
“Technically, it only took one day to paint and one more for the fumes to air out,” he quipped.
Before you could roll your eyes, the smell of burning cinnamon hit your nose. “Muffins!” You turned away from Lucien and waddled quickly towards the kitchen.
Lucien laughed as he followed after you. “I was wondering what sort of concoction you had brewing in there.”
“The baby asked for snickerdoodle muffins, and what kind of mother would I be to deny my child before they’ve even left the womb?”
“Ah yes, this telepathic connection between the two of you. Pray tell, what else does our little kit ask for,” he asked, leaning on his hands, watching you from across the island that separated you as you pulled the muffin pan out of the oven.
Placing the pan on the counter, you hummed before looking up at Lucien. “Well, since you’re asking,” you smiled deviously, “a nice warm bath complete with a massage. And chocolates.”
He licked his lips as he moved closer to you. “I can’t deny my child before they’ve left the womb, now can I? I shall run you a bath this instant.”
You giggled as he kissed the crown of your head and rubbed your belly before leaving the room. Staring at the muffins on the counter, you couldn’t resist eating one while they were fresh and steaming right in front of you. The crumbs of cinnamon and sugar crunched between your teeth as the bready muffin melted on your tongue, and an involuntary moan escaped you. Your baby may not be born yet, but they certainly have good taste in pastries.
“My love,” Lucien called. “I have a warm, lavender-scented bath ready for you.”
“Coming,” you mumbled, swallowing the last of the muffin before rounding the corner and trailing after Lucien.
As you walked through your bedroom and into the ensuite bathroom, you practically groaned in pleasure at the sight. Steam rose from the clawfoot tub, courtesy of Lucien’s heating powers, and bubbles covered the water's surface. You slipped off your clothes, and Lucien held your hand as you entered the tub. He quickly followed, chucking his clothes onto the floor next to yours.
You leaned back onto his chest as he sat behind you, thick, muscular thighs caging you in between them. “This is nice,” you sighed. The bubbles came up to your breastbone as your body slumped against his, but your bump protruded slightly out of the water's comforting warmth.
He hummed in agreement, grabbing a folded washcloth and submerging it in the water before gingerly running it across your arms. “It is the least you deserve,” he murmured. “I cannot thank you enough for carrying our child.”
You looked at him over your shoulder and smiled. “You don’t have to thank me, Luc. I love you, and I love our baby. I can’t wait to meet them.”
“I know you do,” he kissed the tip of your nose, “but I also know being pregnant is no easy feat. First, there was constant nausea and vomiting; now, it’s insomnia, swelling, and back pain. Not to mention the mental toll it takes on you, worrying day and night about what our baby will need, and as much as I hate that you’re so worried, your concern is how I’m sure you'll be a wonderful mother.”
“You can't know that,” you grumbled. “Preparing for it and living it is not the same thing.”
Lucien lathered shampoo in his hands and began to scrub your scalp. “Perhaps, but after believing Beron was my father for most of my life, maybe I’m just content in knowing we can love our child without that monster looming over us. Knowing I will never be like him and you, being an angel sent from the heavens, I think we’re quite set. All I ever wanted was for my future children to be safe, especially in their own home, and they will be.”
You sighed as he rinsed the soap out of your hair, one hand shielding your eyes from the suds. “That is a perspective I haven't considered. I’m sorry,” you murmured.
“Don’t apologize, my love. I only mentioned it because I want you to feel as content as I do. I don't want you spending your first pregnancy fretting over the little things when what's most important is that both of you are okay. We don't know what the future holds, and things could change in the blink of an eye, but in the meantime, I want us to love each other and enjoy ourselves while our kit gets ready for their debut.”
You intertwined your hands with his as you gave him a peck on the lips. “Thank you. You always know what to say to bring me back to Earth. I don't know what I would do without you.”
“Oh, I have a few ideas. Starting with rearranging this house until labor forced you to stop, you stubborn female.”
A soft giggle escaped you as you leaned further into Lucien’s chest. “The day can not come soon enough. My back might break if my stomach gets any bigger.”
Lucien chuckled as he caressed your bump with his large palm. Despite how huge you felt, his hand could still cover the top of your stomach, reminding you that you were, in fact, not actually the size of a mammoth. “I hate to tell you that our little fox is not done growing and will get bigger, but-” he leaned over your shoulder to kiss the bump, “I can assure you that you are unbreakable, my brave and resilient mate. Pregnancy is nothing compared to the battles you’ve overcome, but after this battle, we will be blessed with a precious baby in return, and they will be ours to cherish alone.”
You craned your neck to gaze up at him. “We’re going to have to share them every now and then, you know that right,” you teased.
A soft growl rumbled through his chest before he nipped at your nose, eliciting your squeal. “We don’t have to do anything. We could hide in the woods and live like cave dwellers. No one could make us leave.”
“Well, technically, Tamlin could, being High Lord and all.” You trailed off as he began to leave kisses along your neck.
Lucien hummed, the placement of his lips on your throat sending vibrations coursing straight through you. “I’d like to see him try. I do believe he owes me, coming back to help him repair his court and all,” he teases.
“Would he be grateful enough not to mind his Emissary and wife living in his woods like animals? We might scare the villagers.”
“Darling, if the villagers can’t handle two Fae harmlessly prancing about the woods, they are in the wrong court. Their High Lord turns into a beast, for cauldron's sake.”
You laughed, clenching your eyes shut and squeezing your thighs together lest you pee yourself. “I can’t believe I forgot that. My stupid pregnancy brain has me forgetting everything, including changing out my slippers for shoes before leaving the house. I was halfway to town before I realized.”
"Was that the day you asked me to go to the shops for more strawberry jam after you had said you were going to fetch it yourself," he chuckled.
“Yep,” you grimaced. “I had to turn around. That was a whole trip in itself. No way I was walking back to the shops.”
“I’m glad you didn’t. I told you to take it easy, not run around town like a headless chicken.” You smacked his arm for referring to you as a chicken, and he kissed your cheek in apology. “I will handle the shopping from now on. You needn’t worry your pretty little head about a thing.”
“Oh, so now I have a head?”
“You’re a wicked thing when you want to be.” He rose from the tub, reaching for the towels before stepping onto the rug. “Come on out, love. The water is getting cold, and I still owe you a massage.”
“Don’t have to tell me twice,” your eyes brightened as you took his hand and let him wrap you in a soft, fluffy towel.
You held hands as the two of you walked into your bedroom, cast in the warm glow of flickering candles. Lucien changed into sleep pants while you slipped on a silk nightgown. You sat down at your vanity, and before you could reach for your hairbrush, Lucien grabbed it. “Let me,” he murmured.
Smiling at him appreciatively over your shoulder, you nodded and closed your eyes as he gently brushed through your hair. He was careful to start at the ends with light strokes and work his way up to your roots, mindful of how fragile hair can be while wet. Starting at your hairline, he separated your hair into three sections and began to tie your hair into a french braid. It became your favorite way to style your hair for bed due to all the night sweats you’ve had during pregnancy. Sleeping while pregnant was still uncomfortable, but getting all your hair off your neck helped tremendously with not overheating at night.
“So beautiful,” Lucien whispered, trailing his fingertips down your arms. You made eye contact with him through the mirror and couldn’t stop the blush that crept upon your cheeks. “Let’s get you in bed now, my love.”
You let him lead you to the bed in the middle of the room and watched him pull back the covers. He sat down first, to your surprise, and patted the spot between his legs. You giggled but situated yourself between his thighs and pulled the covers up to your waist.
“First, the chocolate I promised.” He handed you a bowl of small rectangles of dark chocolate. You moaned and popped a piece into your mouth as you grabbed the bowl and placed it in your lap. “Now for that massage,” he leaned over to the side table and picked up the bottle of oil, shaking a few drops on the palm of his hand and rubbing them together. You pulled your braid over your shoulder and let the straps of your nightgown slip down enough for Lucien to access your back. “Where does it feel the most sore?”
“Along my spine and lower back,” you replied, chewing another piece of chocolate.
He hummed in acknowledgment and began to massage your back. Starting at the top of your spine, he ran his knuckles down your back, releasing the tension with his motions. He moved on to massaging circles into your lower back with his thumbs, and the pressure was heaven-sent in such a sore spot.
You don’t know how long you sat there feeling every ounce of love and care he put into relieving your pain. Your eyes remained shut, and you’d never admit that you may have dozed off a couple of times, only once or twice, with a piece of chocolate in your mouth.
After the massage, you leaned back onto his chest, placing the chocolates and oil back on the table, and he wrapped his arms around your bump to lift it. He dipped his chin down to your shoulder and kissed your neck softly. “Does that feel any better, darling?”
Exhaustion consuming you, you could only hum and nod. Lucien chuckled, turned off the flames with a snap, and shifted your bodies so that your head rested on his chest as he pulled you into his side. “Goodnight, my love,” he kissed your temple. “And goodnight, my little fox,” he splayed his hand on top of your bump and rubbed his thumb in soothing circles as you fell asleep.

Kinktober Day Twenty-Seven : Sleep Sex Lucien Vanserra x Female Reader
Lucien woke up to the sound of your voice, calling his name. Still half asleep he opened his eyes only to find that the moon was still out, it had to be near dawn by the way the sky was starting to brighten. So he closed his eyes and let his head hit the pillow.
He heard his name slip past your plush lips again. “Hmm ?” Lucien hummed in response. But when he didn’t hear your voice he rubbed his eyes, trying to wake up.
Then his nostrils flared and he scented the air again. He could smell someone’s arousal, your arousal. Looking down at your sleeping form, he noticed the way you were grinding against his muscular thigh. Creating a wet spot of arousal on his sleep pants. Your arm that was across his middle fisted the sheets on the side of him. “Mhmm, Lucien.” You moaned softly.
He couldn’t stop the smirk on his lips, that even subconsciously you wanted him. Pushing your hair back with his free hand, he asked, voice soft, “Does that feel good, princess ?” Nodding your head that was laying on his arm, you whimpered, “Mhmm.” As he used that hand to grip your ass, making you grind harder against his thigh.
The both of you had talked about this before and both consented.
It’s been happening more often now since he’s been traveling a bit more recently. Sometimes it happened when he wasn’t there, the both of you feeling it through the mating bond. But tonight he was here.
“That’s it. Just like that, Princess,” He groaned into your ear. It’s only spurred you on to move your hips faster, moaning a bit louder now. Lucien knew you were close by the way you were panting and you were grinding your hips desperately. So using his free hand, he slid up your night slip that had bunched at your waist, over your tits and tugged at your perky nipples.
“Oh, L-lucien !” You cried out as your release barreled through you, clutching at his chest as your hips stuttered. “Good girl.” He cooed into your ear, pressing a loving kiss to your forehead.
You opened your eyes as you were starting to come down from your high.
Your mate was moving, settling himself between your soaked thighs, lining himself up with your entrance. Running the head of his length through your wet folds, before pushing in slowly, leaning his forehead against yours, burying himself in your cunt.
Once he pushed in all the way to the hilt, he kissed your swollen lips - from you biting them - and panted softly against them, “Fuck, princess.”
Your lips captured his, in a heated kiss, then you moved from his jaw down to his neck, biting and sucking the soft warm skin. Your hips, bucking, wanting him to move. He obeyed, pulling out to the tip and then pushing back in. Setting a slow but hard rhythm.
Then Lucien grabbed both of your legs, putting them to one side as he began slamming into you. The new position, letting him hit your sweet spot. The both of you were all moans and soft pants, losing yourselves to pleasure.
“Fuck.” He hissed, gripping your hips tighter as you fisted the sheets below you. Head thrown back as you felt fire pooling in your tummy.
“P-please Luc !” You cried out as you felt the fire spread, he picked up the pace. Practically slamming into you, all you could hear was skin slapping skin.
Your legs started shaking and his hips stuttering, as the both of you came together. You felt his cum coat your sensitive walls as he still moved inside of you, slowly, working the both of you through your orgasms.

On the Sharp Edge of a Blade Lucien & Eris Drabble (ft. Elucien Angst) - 1k words
He found Lucien alone in the manor, a half-finished glass of whiskey in hand.  “Allow me to guess,” Eris carefully seated himself in the armchair next to him, facing the fire. “Another unsuccessful evening in the Night Court?”
Read on Ao3 or Below Divider by @tsunami-of-tears
He found Lucien alone in the manor, a half-finished glass of whiskey in hand.
Typically when Eris stopped by the mortal lands to meet with his youngest brother, their conversations were pointed, an efficient exchange of only necessary information. There were no pleasantries by nature of their shared blood and history, perhaps there might never have been between the brothers. Which is why the words were both stiff and strange on his tongue as Eris faced Lucien.
“Is everything alright?”
His brother sat upon a large armchair, staring into the dancing flames inside the fireplace, not even bothering to glance at his arrival. There was no Jurian or Vassa to be found in the human manor. It was bleak on this side of the wall, even with the fire burning in the room. Warmth only met the emptiness of the room, vanishing without a trace. It wasn’t the kind of place he imagined for his youngest brother.
“I’m not in the mood tonight,” Lucien said, followed by another sip of his amber colored drink.
There was only one kind of sorrow that could affect Lucien in such a matter, to the point of bitter, cracked numbness—afflictions of the heart. For when it came to Lucien, it was always the condition of love that plagued the male. In this case, it was undoubtedly his mate.
“Allow me to guess,” Eris carefully seated himself in the armchair next to him, facing the fire. “Another unsuccessful evening in the Night Court?”
Lucien answered with a low, sardonic laugh. The ice clinked in his drink as he brought it to his lips for another swallow. Eris remained entirely still, waiting for him to confirm his most obvious observations.
“I think I’d prefer if she would just reject the bond. Get it over with and relieve me of the misery.”
Eris cocked his head slightly, his lips pressing into a thin frown. For most of Lucien’s life, his reputation across Pyrthian had been painted with broad, flattering strokes of his rakish charm, his troublesome tongue, and his beauty. It had been no secret and had begun early in the Autumn Court, and they had even followed him to Spring for some time, even after his exile. Even after Amarantha and her punishment. But these days even Eris was well aware of his brother’s current reputation—of a sad, miserable mate pining after his female.
“Then why do you keep castigating yourself and trying?” Eris asked quietly, though sharply, like the fine edge of a blade piercing into flesh. “Why do you keep returning to their horrid court if she does not want you?”
Lucien looked at him. His russet eye smoldered and his mechanical orb whirred, as if it were looking for something deep inside Eris. No, as if it were pleading with him. Pleading to avoid admitting the truth and hoped to find a semblance of mercy. But Eris did not waver in his gaze, as if that action alone could forcibly push the blade deeper into his brother’s wound until he talked.
He sighed, his stare slowly dragging to the crackling fire.
“Even when she will not speak to me, will not so much as look in my direction, I feel as though I cannot stop—will never be able to stop—showing up on her doorstep with a present and my terrified heart filled with mangled hope. Because—”
The pain etched across his features exacerbated the scar spliced down his face. Eris hated this moment. He hated everything about it.
“I fear if I stop going she will forget me entirely,” Lucien finally said, and he couldn’t hide the quiver in his words.
Eris steeled himself. To prevent himself from casting Lucien a look of pity.
Lucien cleared his throat, staring into the bottom of his drink before finishing it all in one gulp. “On the other hand, I also fear what would become of me—of the madness they say befalls the male.”
The fire flared at that, a small tell that Eris was displeased. He crossed one leg over his knee and curled his lip. “You would be fine, Lucien. You would survive.”
“I’m not quite sure how I would ever be happy again—”
“Being happy is for children,” Eris snapped at him. “When you have a blade buried in your gut, happiness is the least of your concerns. You either pull the blade out and bleed out or you keep it in—to survive. You learn to live with the pain. Life finds a way around.”
Lucien set his glass on the table. A few empty bottles clinked at the movement.
“How can you be so sure?”
He narrowed his eyes at his brother, unused to being questioned. But there had been more than just time and distance between the two brothers in the last few centuries.
“Because you are a Vanserra,” Eris stated matter-of-factly. He picked up one of the whiskey bottles and pretended to inspect the label with lazy interest to avoid witnessing Lucien’s reaction. “Whether you like it or not.”
He settled the glass bottle back on the table, forcing himself to meet Lucien’s penetrating stare. It was full of longing and crestfallen hope on the precipice of devastation. The Vanserra name brought his little brother no comfort—it never had.
“And if mother can survive it, then so can you,” Eris said softly.
There it was. The unspoken truth they had never so much dared to broach their entire existence. A secret so dangerous it would ruin their mother if ever discovered by Beron. The Lady of Autumn and her broken, unsettled mating bond to another High Lord. Eris was decidedly not a fool and he never had been one before in his life. Yet in that moment, he couldn’t be anything else to even whisper a mere mention of it simply to alleviate the pain on Lucien’s face.
His brother nodded, understanding washing over him.
Eris stood to his feet, as if Autumn were warning him to return before he did anything else moronic. Something gnawed at him to not leave Lucien behind, but he was already heading to the door, the magic of his winnowing abilities singing through his body with every step, readying to escape.
Before he could leave, he stilled and looked over his shoulder.
“She would have done it by now. For what it’s worth,” Eris called out. Lucien looked up, his brows furrowed in confusion. “If that’s what she wanted—a rejection. I don’t think she would have waited all this time.”
Several heartbeats passed before Lucien made a motion as if he were pulling out an invisible dagger from his chest. It was exactly the confirmation he needed to know that he would be alright getting drunk alone for the rest of the evening.
“You should go,” Lucien said, leaning back into his chair. “Before your reputation as a cold-hearted bastard is effectively ruined.”
Eris laughed, even as he vanished into darkness.

lucien: derived from the Latin root word lux, meaning light.
When you had first felt yourself falling for Lucien Vanserra some odd years ago, you had been keeping a watchful eye on him — per Rhys’s request — upon his initial arrival to the Night Court under the guise that you would help him research ways to persuade the human queens to your cause against Hybern.
Initially, it had been just that. A favor for your High Lord, your friend.
But what had once felt like a vague indifference for the youngest Vanserra brother quickly devolved into a genuine appreciation for him. The more time you spent with Lucien, the more you glimpsed the light peeking out from beneath his guarded exterior.
(You nearly laughed at how aptly Lucien lived up to the brightness belying the meaning of his name.)
It had started with friendly teasing, then secret smiles over piles of textbooks, then not so accidental touches in the quiet of the townhouse. With each evolution of your relationship with Lucien, the more and more you found yourself wanting to be around him, seeking each other out with flimsy excuses that would guarantee a day’s worth of cherished company.
The inextricable desire you had to be near him that was growing exponentially with every subtle glance he stole had made you nervous. Wary, even.
You were an academic – the coveted researcher for the Night Court – relying heavily on concepts you could study, could quantify. Well-evidenced theory informed much of your advice to Rhys and his court, and you were often the first point of contact when anyone had any questions about…anything; your wealth of knowledge was endless.
But Lucien — his undeniable magnetism — was an enigma; you could never quite understand why you’d felt so drawn to him, could never formulate an accurate hypothesis for how easily he could coax a smile to your lips and make butterfly wings tickle your stomach.
But it was becoming increasingly evident that he felt the same indisputable pull that you did. He had spent much of his time in your presence, bringing you tea in the late hours of the nights you spent in the townhouse’s reading room, poring over tomes and texts that you and Amren had thought might be useful. Lucien always made the excuse that he made too much tea and didn’t want it to go to waste.
(Later, you’d find out that he didn’t even really like the tea he brought you every night, only brewing an excessive amount of it because Feyre had offhandedly mentioned it was your favorite.)
He was rarely there to give his opinions, merely lingering to offer his quiet companionship, situating himself in a comfortable lounge chair in your periphery as he perused the pages of his book of choice. More often than not, he’d fall asleep in what had to be a supremely uncomfortable position, untouched tea cooling on the table.
It was in those sweet and fragile beginnings of your relationship with Lucien that you had begun to contemplate the potential cosmic underpinnings of your mutual fondness for each other, and what that could mean for you and your future.
Orbiting each other like stars caught in the same gravitational field, you and Lucien were on a steady course of stellar collision, sure to erupt in some unexplainable astral phenomenon that would certainly result in your doom. Or your salvation.
(It was the latter.)
The same way you could track the trajectory of an apple falling from a tree and calculate the force with which it would hit the ground, you could guess — with near one hundred percent accuracy — how hard you would fall for Lucien. It was a dangerous descent, you knew, but one that you could hardly fight against.
Despite being quite the closet romantic — how could you not be, with the knowledge of endless possibilities at your fingertips? — you had been hesitant to pursue anything more with Lucien, wanting to preserve the innocent, lighthearted flirtations that had come so easily between you. You’d been hurt before, been wickedly tricked into the dangerous downward spiral of broken promises and fleeting loyalty of lovers past. And you’d be damned if you’d let yourself make that mistake again.
But Lucien…
Lucien was all of things your previous paramours had not been. He was kind and gentle and genuine. Funny and insufferably sweet. He was a wonderfully fresh breath of air in an otherwise stagnant atmosphere.
He had his darkness — he’d admitted as much to you himself. But he had never hidden it from you, had even allowed you the privilege of holding the most tender parts of his past in your hands to examine, always providing ample opportunities for you to deny him, decide that you didn’t want all the pieces of his whole after all.
You had never been afraid of the dark, though, not in the literal or metaphorical sense. It was comforting, quiet, familiar. Besides, before Lucien, you had never found a light bright enough to fear the return of the dark.
But when faced with the sheer enormity of the warmth his light provided, suddenly you were afraid of its absence. You wanted only to spend your time basking beneath the sun you had discovered beneath Lucien Vanserra’s ribs.
It was torturously paradoxical, how the more you chased Lucien’s light the more you were plunged into the dark unknown of what loving him would mean, and how afraid you had become. But resisting Lucien’s solar gravity was like trying to defy the very laws that governed the universe you were lucky enough to live in with him: near impossible.
The way he so effortlessly drew you to him, enticed you to trust him, open yourself to him was something that the greatest physicists of your time could never explain. It was a mystery you weren’t sure you wanted solved for fear that once discovered, he’d be taken from you; you selfishly wanted to keep Lucien’s impossibly beautiful energy to yourself.
He was undefinable in his unwavering loyalty and limitless consideration. Lucien’s love for you seemed to be as intrinsically written into his existence with the same certainty that you knew the sun would rise over the horizon every morning. It was with that same certainty that you knew falling in love with him was inevitable, and fighting it was a futile resistance of gravity.
So you had let yourself fall, let yourself dive deep into the unknown, praying – begging, really – to whatever gods that were listening that this wasn’t another funnel towards heartbreak.
You fell with maddening speed and Lucien caught you – having already fallen long ago – with all of the warmth of the sun that his name promised.
If your past self had ever doubted the stability of loving Lucien Vanserra (read: you did), none of that doubt existed in you now. Especially in moments like this: skin to skin in the morning light of the first spring day in the Night Court. Three years since you and Lucien (separate) became you and Lucien (duo), you could hardly believe that you ever considered any other choice but him.
The sun was warm on your back as you lay on your side, arm tucked comfortably beneath your head as you listened to Lucien give you his annual spiel about how the springs in the Spring Court were unbeatable, though the Night Court did have some acceptable weather sometimes. You giggled at his remarkable consistency, love and fondness filling the space between your ribs, momentarily seizing your heart to flutter giddily.
“Okay, Lu,” you responded in mock exasperation. “And then in the fall –”
“Autumn,” he corrected, just to jest further.
“ – you’re going to tell me that the Autumn Court has the best autumns.”
“Naturally.” His grin was blinding as he teased you, pressing a firm kiss between your brows.
You rolled your eyes but gave in, leaning in towards him – always leaning in towards him (that pesky gravity again).
“But I guess your court,” he continued, “has us beat as far as stargazing goes.”
“Naturally,” you mimicked, winking.
His laugh was a resounding bell of warmth and you took the opportunity to drink him in, warm skin tinted pink with joy and the heat of the morning sun. His hair was disheveled with sleep, but he was impossibly effortless in his beauty.
The freckles on his cheeks reminded you a lot of the stars that illuminated the streets of Velaris, and you spent the next few hours of the early morning drawing constellations on his skin and fabricating stories of their origin while Lucien’s own fingers drew matching patterns onto your back.
He whispered cheesy lines about how you outshone all of the stars in your beloved Night Court, and then his cheeks dimpled — beautiful craters of mirth — as he smiled at your feigned incredulity. He kissed you then, and you once again found yourself at the mercy of his gravitational pull, your body arching almost instinctively against his in an effort to satisfy your craving for the feel of his skin against yours.
Lucien – as always – indulged you, snaking a muscled arm around your waist to pull your body flush against his as he whispered in your ear about how he had heard once that freckles were the spots that past life lovers had kissed the most. In an act of petulant pseudo jealousy at the idea that someone had the privilege of loving Lucien before you, you spent the rest of the morning peppering his skin in a thousand kisses.
“No need to be jealous, my love,” he said as you anchored your lips to the apple of his cheek. “I’m certain that in every life before this one, I enjoyed the pleasure of your affections. And I will continue to find you in every one after.”
Maybe that was it. Maybe the undeniable, visceral need to have him, be with him, love him was written into your bones by the infinite previous lives you spent within each others’ orbit. Your devotion to Lucien seemed as intrinsic as the laws of the universe; there was no life in which you did not feel the warmth of his yearning.
You hummed in contented agreement, feeling as though you’ve just discovered the unthinkable as you continued your quest, reveling in the gentle shiver you earned with a well placed kiss to the junction of his jaw and neck. For a brief moment, you made a mental note to thank whatever force – physical, cosmic, celestial – that had bound you and Lucien together.

You Need To Behave
Day 21: Edging — Lucien x f!reader
Warnings: oral (m receiving), p in v, sub/dom dynamics
Word count: 772
Tumblr media
“Please…”
Lucien’s hips bucked as he tried to push his cock deeper into your mouth, but you placed a hand on his lower stomach to keep him still and pulled away for good measure.
You suppressed the smile that his whimper brought to your lips, and you clicked your tongue, shaking your head. “You’re moving too much,” you reprimanded. “I won’t let you cum if you don’t behave.”
His scar contorted when he grimaced, eyes focused on you. You could see the tense muscles in his thighs, the fingers twitching at his side as he fought the urge to move. It was hard not to smile at the sight of your witty, noble mate brought to his knees by your mouth. There was a sense of power, accomplishment, and control in it all, which boosted your self-confidence every time.
“I will behave,” he promised, voice almost whiny. “But please, keep touching me…”
Satisfied by his answer, you took his cock in your hand and began to stroke him torturously slow. You brushed your thumb over the bead of pre-cum on his tip and felt him twitch in your grasp, but you still took your sweet time, dragging it out for him. It was only when you heard his broken plea that you leaned down again and put your lips around him.
Lucien sucked in a breath, but didn’t move. You hummed as you began to bob your head, fingers still stroking his base, flicking your tongue out to brush his tip every time you pulled back.
“Oh, fuck…” he panted. “Don’t stop, sunshine…”
A quick glance at his face blessed you with the sight of his closed eyes and slightly agape mouth. The temptation to just climb on him and ride him into oblivion was strong, but you were keen on waiting just a bit longer. For now, his groans and his cock in your mouth would suffice.
You had to hold his hips down a few more times, but he did behave, begging and whimpering just the way you liked. You were just enjoying it too much to let him cum already.
You suddenly pulled away. Your hand, your mouth… you stopped touching him completely and watched as he rocked his hips for a moment as if could get his release like that.
“I was about to come…” he whined softly.
You smiled then, running your hands up his sculpted chest and then down again. “I know.”
You swung a leg over his waist to straddle him, and he immediately reached out to grip your thighs, stopping himself only at the last minute.
“Good boy,” you murmured as you began to grind on him. “I think I’ll let you come inside me. Would you like that?”
Lucien nodded, squirming beneath you but doing his best to keep still. His dedication to following your instructions was commendable, far better than yours when it came to his orders.
“Yes… yes, let me come.”
Your lips twitched upwards as you noticed he didn’t mention where he wanted to cum, but simply asked you to let him. You had driven your poor mate so crazy that he just wanted his release.
You sank onto his cock, both of you moaning as you took his whole length inside you. Entwining your fingers with his, you pinned his hands above his head and leaned down to press your lips to his.
The pace you set was unhurried at first, still meant to tease Lucien and hear his pleas, but now you were getting impatient too. Your combined groans and your mate’s occasional pleading made it impossible for you to keep up the slow rhythm.
You began to bounce on him, swallowing the beautiful sounds that came out of his mouth with hungry kisses. His fingers squeezed yours, and when his eyes closed once more, you knew he wouldn’t last much longer.
“Please, sunshine,” he moaned weakly. “Can I cum, please?”
“Since you asked so nicely,” you replied with a smirk. You sat up straight, and you clenched around him for emphasis. “You can come, my love.”
Your movements became faster, your walls pulsing around his cock, and you had just finished speaking when Lucien spilled himself inside you with a little groan. But you didn’t stop and fucked him through his orgasm before you came too, head thrown back in pure bliss.
As soon as you stilled and let go of his hands, he pulled you down for another kiss, more tender and loving than the previous ones.
“You’ll be the death of me, sunshine,” he whispered against your lips.
Your only answer was a soft chuckle.

Holiday Traditions
Lucien x fem!Reader fluff
Summary: Reader finds Lucien preparing for some of his childhood Autumn Equinox traditions, and decides to surprise him.
Tumblr media
Wind whipped softly at your cheeks, late September air bringing a much needed reprieve from the exhausting heat August had brought this year. You smiled at the sight of a leaf, twirling in the breeze as it floated down from its branch to join the others scattered about the forest floor in a kaleidoscope of greens, oranges, and yellows.
The sound of rustling foliage pulled your attention from the path to the Exiles’ Manor. A familiar head of long flaming hair brought a smile to your lips, his presence drawing you like a moth to the flame.
Hearing the sound of your approach, Lucien looked over his shoulder from where he knelt on the ground, his returning smile sending heat pooling in your belly. You glanced beyond him to the small structure in front of him. A small structure had been built, its fine craftsmanship an indication of who had crafted the object. Lucien’s golden complexion flushed slightly at your curious gaze, your eyes roving eagerly over the small pyre he’d built, decorated beautifully with an assortment of berries, nuts, and what seized your attention most - two cornhusk dolls laid together at the front.
Kneeling in front of the arrangement, you reached a hand out and twined Lucien’s fingers through your own. “What is this?” you whispered, voice soft with awe.
Lucien squirmed slightly, a rare moment of self consciousness showing behind his charming facade. “It’s a Mabon Altar,” he nodded, reaching out to brush away a leaf that had fallen over the display. “It’s an Autumn Court tradition.”
His gaze flicked to yours, studying your reaction. “Each year, we - they - celebrate the Equinox with rituals, to honor the Mother, and to ask her for prosperity, protection, and balance.” He laughed dryly at his own words, mouth twisting into a wry smile as you carefully picked up one of the corn husk dolls.
“My mother holds the traditions very sacred. The dolls are supposed to represent those we love, to pray for their good fortune.” Gaze swinging to the other doll which still sat on the earth, amber eye swam with emotion. “I hardly believe that,” he swallowed thickly, “but my mother always made dolls for each of my brothers and me. And one like this.”
He held the doll, pulling it closer so you could see the intricate details Lucien had worked to cut and carve. The doll was darker than the one in your hand, the corn husk itself nearly as dark as the soil, while parts of it were painted gold as though to resemble the doll’s clothing. You looked to the doll in your own hand, studying the lighter hue of its husk, shades of red so much like Lucien’s. “This one is your mother?” you questioned softly.
Lucien nodded, a mournful smile playing on his lips. “It meant so much to her to create these each year. It makes me feel closer to her - even if I can’t be there in Autumn with her.”
Pulling your hand from his, you intertwined your arms and leaned against his warm frame. “And who is that?” you prodded, gently taking the other doll from him.
“I don’t know. I think it was just an idea of my mother’s - a symbol of hope for protection, or her future.”
Setting the corn husk back in its place, you leaned to press a kiss to Lucien’s cheek. “Thank you for sharing that with me. I hope I can be here to celebrate the Equinox with you, if that is okay.”
His answering smile stole the air from your lungs, unbridled joy casting a ray of sunshine through him as Lucien stole your lips for another, deep kiss. “I can think of nothing that I would love more,” he purred, your insides melting at the suggestive tone.
~~~
You were lounging on the pink sofa in Lucien’s lap days later when Twilight began to darken the sky. Flashing a conspiratorial grin to Vassa and Jurian, you excused yourself to your room, smiling at Lucien’s groan when the other two quickly did the same.
In your room, you hurriedly grabbed the burgundy dress from your wardrobe, applying rouge to your lips before giving yourself an assessing look in the mirror.
Yesterday during your visit to the Day Court on emissary business, you had asked Helion about the library’s books on Autumn Court’s Equinox traditions. The High Lord had shocked you by knowing plenty about their traditions himself, recalling the feast they had each year with different foods to represent the different Houses.
The way in which Helion spoke about the rituals held such a reverence, you couldn’t help but grow more excited to surprise Lucien with a party. You had thanked Helion - who bid you farewell with a mournful smile that oddly reminded you of Lucien’s - eager to race home and begin planning.
Exhaling a nervous breath, you swiped the final touches of makeup across your eyes before turning back to the living room.
“My vixen, you couldn’t stay away for-“
Whatever witty remark Lucien had planned died in his throat, mouth agape as he took you in. You were indeed the vixen, your dark red lips matching the tight fabric that donned your figure like a siren’s call to the male in front of you. Moving as though in a trance, Lucien swiftly stood from the couch, his hands finding purchase on your waist, shamelessly trailing up your body to feel the curves you’d put on display.
“What is this?” Lucien asked, his voice practically a growl with the self restraint he barely clung to.
“This,” you purred, stepping back to offer him the full view of your body once more, “is what I wear to a party.”
“A party?” he echoed, tongue flicking out over his bottom lip in intrigue. You simply hummed in response, lacing his fingers in your own as you led him towards the front door with a playful wink over your shoulder.
Opening the door of the manor, you smiled at how incredibly Vassa had pulled together the evening. Fae lights glowed like fireflies throughout the trees, illuminating the table that was set with an ornate dinner and fae wine. A symphonia played the gentle tune of a familiar orchestra, setting the mood for Jurian and Vassa as they swayed on the makeshift dance floor.
“What is this?” Lucien breathed, hand still tight around your own.
Smiling brightly at the wonder in his expression, you led him to the table where the others were now taking their seats. “I learned a bit more about Equinox traditions, and I wanted to surprise you with some new memories of a special holiday for you.”
Jurian coughed from across the table, earning an elbow to the ribs from Vassa and an eye roll from you. “Vassa helped a lot... And Jurian a little bit, as well,” you teased in response to the latter’s outraged expression.
“Thank you all, very much,” Lucien murmured, voice thick with emotion. You leaned up to press a kiss to his cheek before filling his plate with traditional Autumn celebration foods, laughing and drinking with your friends late into the night until the moon was high in the sky.
“It’s time,” you whispered from where you leaned against Lucien’s warm chest. As midnight approached, you followed the path to Lucien’s altar, whispering your own silent prayers from behind as he lit the pyre with a flick of his wrist.
Turning to face you, Lucien stood aglow in the firelight, his amber eyes and bright hair glowing like the sun. You smiled bashfully at his beauty, still in place as he walked up to you, and right past you.
Stunned, you turned over your shoulder to find him standing on the dance floor, poised in a dramatic bow with his hand outstretched in askance. “My cunning vixen, will you do me the greatest honor of dancing with me?”
You couldn’t help but giggle at his antics, earning a mischievous wink as Lucien spun you into his arms, your chest flush against his, hearts beating as one. The fire burned a soft crackle, illuminating the dark night as the symphonia began to play a slower sort of melody. “Thank you for sharing your holiday with me,” you murmured, cheek laid against Lucien’s chest as you swayed.
Lips pressed gently to the top of your head, lingering there for a long moment. Pulling away slightly, Lucien’s hand tucked under your chin as he guided your face to look at his. “Thank you for giving me new, sweet memories, every day,” he murmured, eyes glowing with emotion before they flicked downward, suddenly turning dark.
Wandering hands found their way back to you, Lucien pulling you impossibly close as his hands squeezed your ass appreciatively. “There is one part of you that will always be the sweetest, though,” he purred, leaning down to tug your earlobe between his teeth. “And I won’t be sleeping until I’ve had a taste.” Before you could react, Lucien tossed you over his shoulder, one hand holding you still as the other moved precariously further beneath your dress while he strode back towards the manor.
A Happy Equinox, indeed.
The Art of Matchmaking
Lucien Vanserra x Reader
A/N; Hello Hello, so this is my first fic for acotar. I haven't written in a while so this is very nervewrecking. First I gotta thank some peeps who have helped and gave me encouraging words; @pixelcookiez for encouraging me, reading this through and helping me out! @chunkypossum for your kind words and offering to help me out, you gave me the push I needed to write so thank you. @mathiwrites for telling me I got this when I felt I didn't got this lol.
Hope you all enjoy this little thing and let me know what you think!
Read on AO3 or below.
Summary; Helion tries to hook you up with his son Lucien.
Tumblr media
Act 1: Knowledge
Helion looked at you with a deep knowledge in his eyes, you could sense the amusement that rolled from him. All of it directed at your expense. You knew his unspoken provocation is a trap, a game if you will, you knew, yet that did not stop you from walking towards your High Lord. As you neared his side, you could see a person standing next to him that made you stop in your tracks.
His brows lifted as he anticipated what you will do, and you realised that he knew. He knew of your centuries old crush on the only heir of Day. How does he know? You hadn’t spoken a word of your feelings for the red-haired fox, hell you hadn’t even written about it anywhere. A lazy smirk appeared on the current high lord, expecting, waiting. Ah, you quickly realised how fucked you were. But you convinced yourself that he did not know of anything, he couldn’t. There was absolutely no way that he knew, you hadn’t peeped a word of your crush to anyone, certainly not him.
A small comfort in the presence of his knowing look, that instantaneously disappeared when you reached the two males.
“Ah, I half expected you to ignore the invitation.” Helion Paused “Glad to be proven wrong.”
His words were an invitation to play this little mind game he had in place, the growing smile on his face proving your thoughts right.
You directed a tight, uncomfortable smile at your high lord, completely ignoring the fox standing beside you. He looked just as handsome as he did every day, clad in day court garments, his chest out decorated by golden chains that went across his shoulders. You lightly bowed your head at Lucien who did the same.
“Do you not recall the wording on my personal invitation? I felt like I had to come.” Your voice was even as you accepted his invitation to both this overbearing ball and the game he has started playing. You however did not know, Helion always won these types of games.
“Did he threaten you to come?” Lucien said playfully “And here I thought you had come to keep me company.” A faux pout appeared on his face. Helion laughed at his sons words.
“You truly are your fathers son.” You jabbed Lucien on the shoulder.
“You wound me.”
Act 2: Denial
The door to Helion's office opened, you expected to see Helion himself however the male that had opened the door was none other than Lucien himself. An easy, inviting smile directed at you as he stepped aside to allow you entrance. This was one of the many reasons that had made you fall for him. The kindness he showed and the easy air of gentleness around him. You had seen him angry and vicious before, but that was not him, not entirely at least. He was that when the situation called for it. You couldn’t help but curse him in your head, for making you fall for him in the first place and for always managing to make you love him more each interaction you had.
You simply nodded your head in gratitude as you stepped inside the spacious office. Helion sat as his desk, his hands propped up on the table holding his head in place as he stared right at you or rather right through you. Yes, the game is on, and he was excited, his grin showing as much.
“Lucien if you would please grant us some privacy?” His eyes slid to his son with a gentle smile. Lucien nodded to his father, his eyes sliding to you. You had to resist the urge to tighten your mouth in fear of blurting your years long attraction escaping from you. Bowing your head to the future lord of day and immediately facing Helion with grace.
Once you were left alone, the space was silent, you could not hear a single thing, not even the singing birds outside that usually sung so loud. You were waiting for him to make the first move, first sound. And you would not fail in that, in that you were certain. As a war general, you were once a measly foot soldier and nothing more, you had learned to stand still for long hours and stay quiet. One simple rule engrained in you, speak only when spoken to. You were patient and he knew that, but he just wanted to play, make you doubt and question every move you had made that had led to this moment.
“If I ask you a question, will you answer me truthfully?” He finally spoke, leaning back in his chair hands clasped together.
“As truthfully as you wish.” Was your trained response to the loaded question.
“You like him, don’t you?”
“I am unsure of who you are talking about.”
“My son, Lucien.”
“Of course, he is the heir and a dear friend.”
“That is not what I meant, and you know it.”
Another tight smile was directed at Helion, considering what your next words should be. You always sucked at chess. Planning strategies for war was second nature, but this, this was new and quite frankly scary.
“I am not sure what you mean high lord.” Your voice emotionless.
Helion merely chuckled at your denial and deflection before easily moving onto more important discussions.
The easy transition into other conversations, unnerved you. What exactly was he planning? And how will you survive the situation you found yourself in. Mother help you.
Act 3: Avoidance
It wasn’t unusual to see Lucien prancing around, still the amount of time you had seen him around these past few days was rather unusual. You knew his schedule, what he does, when he does it, you knew all his usual movements, this was unusual. It made avoiding bumping into him that much harder than before.
“Ah, if it isn’t my dearest friend!” You sighed at Lucien who approached you as you were overlooking your soldiers training regime.
“Ah, if it isn’t the prince. Come to annoy me?” Lucien grabbed his chest, right over his heart grimacing at your words. It made you laugh lightly at his usual theatrics.
“Sunflower you really should be careful with your harsh words.”
“Do you not have better things to do Lucien?” He only laughed, patting your shoulder before leaving you to your work.
With a sigh you made your way to one of the soldiers who couldn’t for the life of you properly wield a sword. You had tried everything to teach the male how to hold it.
“How many times do I have to tell you not to hold it like that?!” Your voice rose slightly as you approached him looking as stern as ever. The soldier murmured a light ‘sorry’ before trying to correct his hold. You held back another sigh at his failing corrections before interfering and showing the male how to do it again. This was your element as annoying as it sometimes got, this was what you were good at.
What you didn’t know was that Lucien didn’t stray far from you, he was watching your every move, silently admiring you with the gentlest of smiles. He was always surprised by your utter dominance over the soldiers, and how they respected you despite your harsh words and strictness.
Tumblr media
Each day as you awoke, you felt tired, tired of constantly planning how you would avoid the handsome heir. He was proving to be quite the annoyance using any chance he could get to come and tease you in front of everyone.
In the evenings as you laid in bed you couldn’t help but think back on the interactions you had with the male, cringing, over how many times he had managed to make you blush. Thinking back on it, he always was quite the charmer, flamboyant and a true social butterfly and you always stood on the sidelines hoping to avoid any kind of attention. A stark difference between you.
A sombre thought for you, but whenever it came up inside you, you just shoved it deeper down. He had a talent of making you come out of your shell, but only around him. No one else had managed it. The stupid crush on your friend should and would go away if you avoid thinking about it, right?
On the other hand, after all these years, centuries, the day where you woke up without having this crush on Lucien never came. You still held on to that hope that soon, some day you will wake up and not long for the male as much as you did. Every other feeling you could ignore, but the deep longing inside you ate at you. Day by day, night by night it became harder to control that longing. A truly cursed feeling.
You desperately needed a break from work, from seeing him everywhere. As the weeks moved, his new schedule never changed, it stayed the same. He was everywhere, always bumping into you, talking to you. Sure, speaking to him was fun, but by the Mother was it exhausting to keep all your feelings to yourself. It’s as if Lucien knew or at least suspected something, breaking down the walls you had built around yourself.
His flirtations became more and more frequent, he never did it as much as he does it now. It’s like he enjoyed seeing you so affected by his words and light touches. That is another point, he was always touchy yes but never like this, his touches became a regular thing. Whenever the two of you bumped into each other, he would either lay his hand on your head, shoulder or he would simply brush against your palm as he walked away.
You were quite tired of his shenanigans because it was starting to mess with your head.
Act 4: Forced Proximity
You were made aware of the summons from your high lord, it made you wonder why so soon. It was not at all unusual to be called for often, but it was never like this time. Something important must have come up for him to request your presence this quickly. It put you on high alert, a normal response for a war general.
However, Helion seemed a bit too relaxed for anything serious to be going on. It eased your nerves a little, but not fully as the game was still on. An unnerving reminder of the predicament you had found yourself in. You spent many days questioning on how he knew, how had he found out? Were you that obvious? The answers never came, he never gave them out.
“I need you to escort Lucien to the human lands. He has some business with the humans.” Helion said evenly reading the paper on his desk, never once looking up at her.
“What kind of business?” You could not help yourself asking the question. Soon realizing that move was a mistake. The grin he had given you as he finally looked up from his paper told you as much. He arched an eyebrow, urging you to continue.
“I need to be prepared.” Was the explanation that you gave your high lord.
“As it is, I don’t actually know what kind of business he has. So, you will have to ask him that yourself.” He stood up from his chair, head tilted to the right with an easy charming smile. You could not resist gritting your teeth.
“When?”
“Tomorrow morning you shall depart from Day. All I know is that he plans to stop in Spring first before continuing to the human lands.”
You simply nodded your head once.
“Keep him safe, will you?”
“I will.”
Tumblr media
You had everything ready for the travel to the human lands with Lucien. Nervous was the only thing that you felt as you awoke. Not because of the locations you will be going to, rather because you’d be travelling with him. The man that had made you fall for him so seamlessly, you wondered if you would be able to keep it professional. You really had no other choice than to keep it that way.
“Good morning.” You bowed your head as you reached Lucien. He was dressed in his travelling attire that he owned from his time in Night court. His red hair was cleanly braided behind him. Just as handsome as ever, if not more.
“Morning.” He smiled gently at you.
“So, what is this important business of yours?”
“That is for me to know and you to find out.” You resisted the twitch in your eye at his teasing words.
“Can you be serious for a moment?” He didn’t offer a response but rather his hand for you to take, so he could winnow you two to Spring.
You took his hand, trying your hardest to not clasp it together like you wished to do. Lucien gently held your hand, like it was made of glass. The hands that killed others without remorse or mercy, being held so gently made you want to grimace and let go. But you pushed the need to pull your hand away.
“Hmm, I don’t particularly feel like being serious right now.” Lucien answered your earlier question, winking at you before winnowing to Spring.
You quickly dropped his hand when you had arrived in Spring. Luckily, Lucien just started walking towards Tamlins’ mansion. You quickly followed him, hoping everything would pass by quickly and without a hitch. Tamlin was already awaiting your arrival at the entrance with a wide smile directed at his best friend.
Tumblr media
The following morning, Tamlin borrowed two of his horses, bidding you safe travels to the human lands. Daylight was soon disappearing as you travelled, urging the two of you to find shelter and a place to rest for the night. Lucien had tried to start conversations with you during your travel, you however gave short answers. Not because you did not want to talk, but because you were quite annoyed by his excessive teasing.
Somehow it was becoming harder and harder to be around him without the urge to tell him the truth. Truth about how much you cared for him, how you long for him and how you wish he too would see you in the same light that you see him in. How you wished he would stop with the teasing and be serious for once. But the utter fear of rejection kept you from talking, because why would he ever see you that way? You were so different from each other. You were nothing like all the other females that surrounded him.
You could not go through that, not yet at least.
The two of you found a secluded place by a creek to rest for the night and wash up. You went to wash your hands and face whilst Lucien set the fire for a bit of warmth in the now chilly weather. Finding food was not necessary as Tamlin had given you enough food to last for the travel to the human lands.
“Can I ask you something?” Lucien broke the silence once he finished lighting the fire.
“Sure.”
“Have I done something to upset you?” His question surprised you so much that you tensed up and stopped moving.
“No, what makes you think that?” After a few moments to gather yourself, you answered.
“I don’t know, you seem quieter.”
“I just have a lot in my mind.”
“Do you want to talk about it?” Lucien hummed; his question genuine.
“No, no it’s alright.” The irony of it all was that it was him that has been on your mind so much.
“Is my father overworking you?” His tone was playful, you knew he was probably smirking.
“When is he not?” You looked at him over your shoulder, a small smile playing across your face. That had made him smile wider, chuckling lightly.
Shaking the water off your hands you slowly stood up, walking towards the warmth of the campfire that Lucien had lighted. You sat by it, opposite of Lucien as you grabbed your pack to pull out two neatly wrapped sandwiches. Thank the mother for Tamlin graciously offering the both of you some food for your travels. Handing one to Lucien across the fire, you unwrapped yours taking a hearty bite out of it.
Tumblr media
After travelling for another day, you had finally made it to the human lands and to the manor where Jurian awaited you. Lucien told you would stay with them for only a day before returning home. His words made you realise that this was not ‘important business’ as Helion had alluded to. The trip was simply to greet his friends and spend some time with them. You had been played by both Helion and Lucien. The two of them will pay for this one day.
Pricks.
Act 5: Confessions
When you finally arrived back home, you reported to Helion with Lucien that you were back before going straight home to have a nice long relaxing shower. The trip in itself was fun, a welcome reprieve from your repetitive tasks. However, the male you were travelling with had somehow managed to make you fall for him even more.
You sighed as you let the warm water cascade over your body, rubbing your face. As soon as you were done with your shower you dressed in some comfortable breaches and shirt, letting your hair airdry as you plucked a random book from your shelf, plopping down on your armchair. Luciens birthday was soon approaching and Helion has already begun preparing a party for his only son. As much as you hated social gatherings you decided to still attend the festivities if only to hand him a gift and a happy birthday wish. You weren’t sure if you could handle seeing him being fawned over by pretty ladies, ladies that were not you.
A groan escaped you as you could not focus on your book at all. Your thoughts were hyper fixated on the handsome male. How you wished everything would be less complicated or maybe you were the only one complicating everything around you. You realised that you would have to decide soon, to save your sanity. Confess to him or forever hold your peace?
Tumblr media
The day of Luciens birthday party came and you were a nervous wreck to say the least, your thoughts flickering between confessing or not. Maybe today was not a good day to do so, could you even handle the possible rejection. To make matters worse Helion has instructed you to dress formally for once and not be in your usual attire which consisted of brown breaches and a simple white shirt. Although you did not have to buy a dress for the occasion as Helion so kindly bought one for you.
It was a stunning dress, revealing a lot of skin. Your skin that is marred by different scars. It just showcased you were not really a lady, but a warrior. The doubts came back tenfold as you stood in front of your mirror all dressed for the party. The golden cuffs around your biceps shone brightly, not bright enough to shoo the doubts away.
The ballroom was full of people as you stepped inside, your eyes however quickly found Lucien. As you predicted he was surrounded by many ladies. One of them seemed particularly touchy, feeling up his arm. It awoke an ugly feeling inside you, you wanted to break her arm, maybe even rip it off her torso. This was a mistake.
“Careful, you might burn the place down with the way you are glaring.” a bored voice that belonged to none other than Eris Vanserra, high lord of Autumn and the brother of Lucien. A cocky fae if you have ever met one. Your eyes met his, you soon noticed he was smirking at you.
“I am not glaring.” your response only made him chuckle as he leaned in closer to whisper in your ear.
“You are making your feelings obvious. Even a fool would realise it.” He moved away from your frozen body before lifting his glass and walking away.
You could not resist clicking your tongue in annoyance. Eris had a talent at getting under peoples skins, a true fox. Even if you urged yourself to not fall for his words you began questioning yourself. Were you really being that obvious?
As you looked up at Lucien, you found he was already looking at you a playful smirk on his handsome face. You started approaching him and he too politely bid his goodbyes with the ladies surrounding him.
“Happy birthday prince.” You handed him the gift you had prepared for him. It was not much, just a simple book about pegasuses. He had once expressed interest in learning more about the Day creatures. You had read this book before you gifted it to him, so you could leave simple notes inside and silly drawings in hopes of making him laugh while he read it.
“Why thank you dear.” Lucien took the gift with a wide smile, tucking it under his arm.
“Not even going to open your gift?” You tilted your head to the right, teasing him as he had already opened all the other gifts.
“Would you like me to open it?” Lucien couldn’t help himself to tease you once again. You only rolled your eyes at him, crossing your arms across your chest
“I’m getting a drink.” You turned, walking towards the makeshift bar with a sigh. Maybe a drink will help take the edge off and help you survive this night without utterly embarrassing yourself in front of everyone here.
Lucien had followed you to the bar a bit perplexed by your sudden coldness towards him. Sure, you rolled your eyes at him plenty of times, but it was all in good fun. He could see that this time around it was different. You were growing tired of keeping this secret crush on your friend and his teasing did nothing to help you keep it. Once you got your drink you turned to Lucien looking him in the eyes.
“We need to talk.” Was all you said before walking towards the secluded balcony that overlooks the garden behind the palace. You knew he followed you as you felt his body heat on your back. Lucien gently laid a hand on your upper back, stepping to the side.  “Everything okay?” For once his voice was devoid of his usual playfulness. He was utterly serious.   “I think...” You paused taking a deep breath before you continued. “I think I love you.”
Luciens hand that was once on your upper back feel besides him in shock, you could feel his eyes staring at you as he stayed quiet. That was all the answer you needed; you scoffed humourlessly downing your drink.
You wanted to walk away from him and as you made a move to turn around and leave, he took a hold of you, pulling you into his chest. One hand was across your back while the other find its place on your head, cradling it close to his heart. You could hear his heart beating just as frantically as yours was.
“And here I was thinking I annoyed you too much to be around me.” He finally spoke, the playful tone back. You nearly groaned but held back as he pulled away slightly, the hand that was on your head was now under your chin urging you to look up into his eyes. “I think I love you too.” He smiled brightly at you.
Hidden act: Sixth sense
“How’d you know?” Eris questions Helion as they look over the ballroom to the balcony to see the two finally share a kiss.  “Oh, I didn’t know for sure, just had a slight hunch.”  “She’s not going to like that once she finds out.”  “Well then it’s best if she never does, isn’t it?” Helion said quietly a victorious smile on his handsome face.
Sub Lucien pls???
mdni!
˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆ ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
sub!lucien knows he's been bad all day. teasing you in front of the other emissaries, with his fingertips brushing under your skirt, higher and higher. he knows he fucked up the moment you look at him with a smirk, the one that means that he's going to pay for this.
sub!lucien starts to regret it the first time you deny his orgasm. for a moment he even thought you would let this pass, that you werent mad anymore. you used your hands to give him pleasure, one wrapped around his cock and the other massaging his balls. you were such a sight, kneeling between his legs and looking at him with those pretty innocent eyes. his cock started twitching earlier than usual, and he was ready to mark your face when you leaned down to kiss his tip, the feeling of your lips too much for him.
sub!lucien cries out loud when you stop every movement. a smirk full of malice appears on your face as you admire his cock twitching against his abs, the sight absolutely mesmerising. he could flip you over and take his pleasure, but he enjoys this.
sub!lucien pants like a damn dog as you lower yourself on his cock. his head throws back as he whimper. you play with some strands of his hair, teasing him as you ride him as slow as possible. a groan of frustation escapes his throat, making you laugh breathlessly. "what is it, baby?". he opens his eyes just to look at you. your tits pop out of your dress and his mouth waters. he moves to sit and get closer with his mouth, ready to taste your soft skin. you pull away fastly, not giving him the satisfaction.
sub!lucien begs. "please" he mutters under his breath. at this point, he is desperate. he could almost cry because he needs you so, so much and you're denying him anything. "please, what?" this time, it's him that looks up at you with those pretty eyes and that makes you give in the slightest bit. you move back and forth, his girth hits that spot that makes your vision blur and your moans get higher and higher. he can sense that you're close, you walls spasming around his cock in a heavenly  motion. he could die right now as the happiest male in the whole prythian.
sub!lucien who cums the exact same moment as you. you're distracted by your own orgasm that you fail to notice lucien's. " 'm sorry, 'm sorry..." he cries out, avoiding eye contact. after a few seconds, the same smirk appears on your face. you click your tongue on the roof of your mouth a few times. "did i give you permission to cum?"
Fuck Fate, I Want To Live
Summary: She is tired of letting the mother decide for her. he wants to take the reins in his own hands.
•○●⛦●○•
Word Count: 2798
A/n: based on this request that was sent like a year ago 😭 i am SO sorry it took me so long to get to it omg i did not even realise 😭
anyways, enjoy!
°•°•°•○🌑○•°•°•°
The restaurant was packed, which was not a surprise considering it was dinner time, and adding onto the fact that the place Y/n worked at was right in the middle of the rainbow.
It was packed, just like it had been that fateful night, when Y/n’s eyes had met hazel ones, and her chest felt fuller than it had ever felt before.
She had been serving another patron, but the snapping of the bond had distracted her so much that she’d had to retire early that night, which she was glad for because she had bumped into the tall, red haired and charming emissary of the night court.
Y/n reared back, her body reeling from the impact against the hard body in front of her. "I am so sorry-"
"I should’ve been watching where I was going, I’m so sorry-"
Y/n paused, taking in a deep breath as she met the mismatched eyes of the male who stared back down at her, easily a head taller than her.
He smiled, shaking his head. "Forgive me, truly."
Y/n ducked her head, her cheeks warming as she tried to focus on anything other than the handsomeness of the male in front of her.
"Um…"
He stepped aside, his eyes wandering into the dimly lit restaurant behind Y/n, widening in shock. Y/n blinked, glancing to see what had him looking like that.
The table that her mate occupied.
"Your mate?"
The red haired male’s eyes swung to Y/n, who offered him a rueful smile.
"How did you know?"
She shrugged, turning away. "Just found mine."
She heard his sharp intake of breath as she stepped off the porch, the cool night air kissing her face in greeting. Gentle and welcoming after the stifling heat of the restaurant.
"He’s your mate?" He whispered, the words flowing out in barely a breath.
Y/n hummed, her eyes snagging on a little child crying in front of the brightly lit shop opposite, his mother trying to calm him down.
She turned away, smiling to herself as she began to wander down the path to her loft apartment, beginning to hum along to the tune of the music filling the air with a much needed warmth.
She thought the conversation with the male was over, but she was proved wrong when he fell in step with her. She looked at him in surprise, eyes wide. He stared back at her like she had lost her mind.
"How are you so calm?!"
Y/n shrugged, nonchalant.
She had plenty of experience with people leaving her, that’s how.
She did not even want to try with her mate.
After all, she did not think she had anything to offer that could entice him into leaving the pretty female he had been with, and hoping was only a harbinger of hurt.
Y/n had been rejected a lot before, so it would come as no surprise if her mate rejected her as well.
By her mother, when she left Y/n on her aunt’s doorstep when she was barely a month old. By her older brothers, who had been decades older and had the ability to take Y/n in, but chose to let her suffer in the care of their aunt. By her father, who had taken one look at a crying, lost, ten year old girl and turned away, letting her sit out in the harsh cold of the winter solstice until her aunt's dog had come to find her, sniffing and pressing his wet snout into her face.
By her aunt, who thought the way to raise children was by beating them until they lost all will to rebel.
But she didn't tell him all that. He didn’t need to know her sob story. She just shrugged, turning her head away to look at the reflective surface of the sidra.
They kept on walking, and it didn't seem like he had any plans to leave her alone anytime soon.
He walked her home that night, and once they reached her apartment, he offered her his name. She had smiled, shook his hand, then left him standing alone in the cold winter night.
Lucien Vanserra, son of autumn, emissary to the night court.
Her now best friend, Lucien.
As she now sat with him in the exact restaurant she had first met him at, her eyes wandered onto the table on the far side of the room.
She could not help but smile.
Azriel and Elain looked good together.
"Do you want your regular?"
Y/n blinked, turning to look at her friend in confusion.
His voice rumbled quietly in the air between them, barely audible over the soft but loud notes coming from the orchestra in the corner of the humid room.
"I know we are here to make sure the two of them have a fun outing, but that does not mean we have to starve."
Y/n gave him an unamused look while her stomach grumbled in answer, and she sighed, nodding. "The regular for me."
He straightened, flagging down a lower faerie with iridescent butterfly wings, who walked over with a smile.
"What would you like to order tonight, sir?"
Y/n tuned the two males out as Lucien placed the order, focusing unconsciously on the cool window pane next to her. Despite the warm atmosphere inside the tavern-like structure, the glass was cold to the touch, the weather outside overpowering the temperature inside.
Lost in the coldness against her fingertips as Y/n dragged them over the smooth surface, she didn’t realise that the two were alone again until he called her.
"Y/n?"
She blinked, turning back to him. "Hmm?"
He smiled, leaning forward, folding his arms on the table. "What’s going on in that head of yours?"
She flashed him a sweet smile, leaning forward, as if sharing a secret. "Murder."
He raised his scarred eyebrow. "Oh?"
She nodded solemnly. He didn’t speak again, letting the space between them fill with the quiet chatter from the surrounding tables. He did not speak a word, made no sound, as if afraid any noise he made would ruin the atmosphere.
It was unlike Lucien. He was not a male who would stay quiet, especially around his friends. So when he did not gift her with a snarky remark, she lifted her head to meet his eyes, confused and curious.
He just stared back at her, his lips almost frowning. Her brows tugged inward, her smile fading. "What?"
He sighed, shaking his head. "It’s just…" he brought up his palm, resting his head on it. "I don’t understand how you do it."
Blink. "Do what?"
"Be unbothered. How do you live with the knowledge that not only are our mates in love, we are helping them get together?"
The fluid that ran through her veins cooled as she leaned back, swallowing. "I don’t understand either, Lucien. Maybe I know he would never choose me. He would never love me. I-"
"He would."
She paused. "What?"
He leaned forward again. "He would. If he met you, he would love you."
She shook her head. "You don’t get it Lucien. He deserves so much better than me. And please don’t look at me like that, we’ve already talked about this, and in the end we just end up fighting. I’d rather not go through it all again."
"But if he just knew-"
"Exactly my point. He would not love me for me. He would love me because of the bond, and I… I don’t want that. And he’s happy. That’s all that matters to me."
"And what about you-" Lucien let out a breath, turning away. "Nevermind."
Already tired, Y/n let herself focus on the grains in the wood table, tracing the lines with her nails.
Trying not to feel like she had somehow let Lucien down.
Again.
°•°•°•○🌑○•°•°•°
Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck.
Not again.
She was again ten years old, staring up at her father with tears brimming in her eyes, shivering in the winter court snow.
She was again eleven years old, having run from her aunt’s house, having left her shoes at the threshold as she sprinted towards what felt like her last hope. Her brothers. They lived next to each other with their wives and children. They would surely take her in when they saw the bruises on her face, right?
Wrong.
They had all turned her away, either crying until her tears turned to icicles or letting her sit on the cooling cobblestones at sunset.
She wished she had refused Lucien’s offer of getting cake.
After Elain and Azriel had left the restaurant, smiling and blushing, Lucien had turned to Y/n, asking if she wanted to get dessert as a pat on the back for their hard work in helping their mates get closer.
Y/n, despite wanting nothing more than to go home and sob to sleep after seeing that flash of disappointment in Lucien’s eyes, had agreed, even if it was just for his sake.
And now as she waited for him to come back with their treats, seated in a cozy alcove with plush pillows supporting her back, she wished she had stopped herself.
Wished she had gone home, because then she wouldn’t have had to look at Daniel and Jake. Her brothers, as they chugged beer with two other males directly opposite her.
And did not even realise.
"Mother, this smells divine."
Y/n blinked, pulled out of her reverie by the warm smell of the muffins hitting her like a slap in the face.
She offered Lucien a smile, hoping he did not pay too close of attention to how weak it probably looked.
He did.
A furrow appearing between his brows, he squeezed in next to her, concern dripping from his every word as he mumbled, "Is everything alright?"
Y/n glanced at the table they occupied, then hurriedly turned her gaze to the cake Lucien had set in front of her when she realised her oldest brother was staring at her. Probably wondering if he’d seen her somewhere, if the confusion on his face was anything to go by.
She grabbed the muffin, taking a huge bite of the warm, spongy sweet inside her mouth before turning to Lucien to give him a nod, smiling awkwardly.
He watched her silently, before nodding. "Something is wrong."
He looked towards the table ehr brothers occupied, then at her and back again.
It only took him a few moments to understand.
"Let’s go home."
Y/n’s eyes widened, and she forced herself to swallow the half eaten chunk in her mouth, coughing too loudly before she was able to speak. "But the cakes-"
He stood, ignoring her protests as he grabbed his muffin in one of his hands, pulling Y/n up with the other, and then dragging her towards the door.
He did not see Daniel standing up, nor did he see the way recognition lit up Jake’s face.
Daniel didn’t either as he was too busy walking closer to Y/n.
"Forgive me, but have we met before-"
Lucien stopped to glare at Daniel, who recoiled at the sheer hatred in Lucien’s eyes.
"My bad man, I-"
"Y/n?"
She froze, refusing to look at Jake. "Let’s go, Lucien."
He nodded, then pulled open the door, the chill air from outside a comfort compared to the suddenly stuffy interior of the shop.
Daniel did not speak, neither did Jake. But as Lucien pulled Y/n closer to winnow her away, knowing walking would lead her brothers to follow, Y/n caught a brief glance of the two.
The distraught sadness on their faces almost made Y/n want to forgive them
Almost.
°•°•°•○🌑○•°•°•°
Lucien shoved a mug of warm tea in Y/n’s hands, startling her. She peered curiously at the beverage, then up at her friend.
"What?"
He sighed, then settled in next to her on the couch, turning his head away from the fireplace to look at her.
"Your brothers?"
She nodded. She had told him of her childhood. Even if she hadn’t wanted to live through the misery of repeating those events, she had told him that night in a drunken haze.
She did not regret it, but the way he now stared at her made her uneasy.
He said nothing, though, and only turned away from her to sip his cup of tea. Time dragged on, each moment merging together. All while Lucien quietly stole glances at her.
"You know," he hummed in answer, sparing her a glance. "Sometimes I want to run away."
She watched as he blinked, staring at her blankly. "Where?"
She shrugged delicately, pushing to her feet. "Somewhere far away. I don’t know, but I do know I want you to be with me when I leave."
There.  She had said it. The thing that had been going around her mind for the past month, the thoughts that wouldn’t let her sleep at night.
Everytime she closed her eyes, she would see his smile. How his eyes twinkled, the skin around them crinkling every time he saw something funny.
Y/n was not in love. Not yet. But she was falling in love, and she knew she was doomed to love him, if not today, then tomorrow.
It was hard to not love him.
She had suppressed any and all budding feelings she had for him, trying to tell herself she did not notice the little tics about him. Told herself she did not notice the small line between his brows when he was busy cooking, the little giggles he would let out when drunk out of his mind.
She had forced herself to ignore it all, because she did not want to be in love with him.
Not because of him, of course. Only because she did not think he would love her back, but she did know that if there was anyone who would love her back, someone who she wanted to spend the rest of her life living with, it was Lucien.
She forced herself to stop thinking about it all, because she knew that if she didn’t, she would again end up with a broken heart.
Just an hour ago, when Y/n had come face to face with her brothers again, she had realised what she had been to blind to acknowledge before.
No matter what she did to protect herself, there would always be a way for her to get hurt. And living while trying to suppress her wishes was no way to live.
So what if he rejected her? They could still be friends. It would only end up helping her, because if he told her he did not want to spend his life with her, she could try to move on.
She was tired of letting everyone around her, even the mother, decide her fate. And she knew he wanted to take the reins of life back in his own hands.
She still remembered what Lucien had mumbled when he was wasted. It was another night after trying to get Elain to go out with Azriel, and at the end of the night, when Y/n had asked him what he was thinking about, he had leaned back, setting his glass aside, and sighed.
Fuck fate. I want to live.
She remembered how much those words had resonated with her then, and how much they resonated with her now.
"Hmm. Let’s go then."
Y/n paused at the bottom step of the stairs, turning halfway to look over her shoulder to Lucien.
He was standing now too, intently gazing at her with a tilt to his lips. "We wanted them to be together, now they are. I don’t see any reason to stay anymore. Besides, I think some time away from everything would help. We could even go to Vallahan. Or anywhere, really."
She grinned, then dipped her head in a nod.
"We’ll discuss the plan tomorrow."
He walked closer to her, picking up her cup from where it had been discarded, and smiled down at her.
She could not move as she watched him lean in, her eyes fluttering shut as he placed a kiss on her forehead, then her cheek. So close his breath lifted the strands of her hair that hung around her face.
His last kiss was placed at the corner of her lips, so slow and deliberate it could not have been anything but flirtatious.
Her eyes were wide when he pulled away, and he simply smirked, dropping into a dramatic bow as he mumbled the words that set fire to Y/n’s blood.
"Pardon my depravity, my lady. See you tomorrow."
