Week 21: The Grand Finale

June 4, 2025 — This is it. THE Presentation Day.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!! After all the chaos and close calls from the day before, this was finally it. We arrived at campus around 8:40 a.m., still riding the high from yesterday’s miracle. The weather? Cold and rainy—just the right touch of drama for a season finale. Outfit check: Edrian, Rona, and I were sweater weather-ready, while Ian and Edther kept it chill in casual fits. Ian walked through each functionality, answered their questions, and—miraculously—everything worked. The questions from Sir Carl and Sir Yu were direct, but we handled them like pros. We thought we’d get grilled, but nope—it was smooth sailing.

When it ended, we walked out of that office smiling like goofs, whispering “SUMAKSES!” to each other like a victory chant.

We actually did it. One whole semester. From scratch. From week 1 to week 21. From nothing to a fully functional website.

The only thing that I feel works for me is consuming a lot of good content. Whether it's reading fiction / non-fiction (non-fiction can be brilliant for new & different ideas), listening to an audiodrama that's well-written, watching a film or television series. . . anything that gets me excited about creating tends to bring me closer to wanting to write. I think the point is to keep your brain moving. Most people don't create ideas in a vacuum--we feed off of our surroundings, the things we consume, the brainworms that wriggle around in our heads. So: being more open to receiving and letting what inspires take root in you is crucial. And as for actually writing, I tend to write with shows or films in the background because the narrative progressing feeds into me being able to move with it. I don't know if that would work for you, but that's the only quick fix I've found for writer's block.

I don't know that I have favourites. I have things that are more natural to me—emotional maturity in SteveTony, crack fic, a more banter-y & even-keeled Steve, an emotionally steadier Tony. . . maybe 'getting back together'? I've written a few of those at this point. I mostly like writing them as competent people, and it's something I definitely enjoy reading too. So. Competence. . .? Plus I've recently fallen into an Alpha!Steve/Omega!Tony rabbit hole so I've got a hankering to revisit that. Uhhh. Alright.

It’s a mix? I start out with maybe a starting line or two that sparks the whole thing and usually some notes at the top. Usually there will end up being scraps of dialogue I want to include later and other references, and then I’ll write notes to myself as an outline but as I go? The truth is that my adhd brain hates thinking about certain things for too long unless I’m hyper focused (which happens too), so sometimes I’ll write half a scene, jump forwards or back, and then just fill it all in like that by which bits I’m able to think about the most in the moment.

💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

See, the answer is probably the 40k+ reveal wip sitting in my docs rn, because I’ve been working on it since April and so it’s my baby… but as for posted fics, it’s a cross between I Need to Leave (Please Stay) and When I Try to Find My Way.

🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?

Wylan, for sure, because in terms of sab/soc characters he is MY BOY and I feel like I get him, or at least I relate to him very hard, so I end up pulling things from myself a lot more than I do writing other characters.

(Very very secretly the answer might actually be Kaz, but only from other peoples povs. He’s just so petty and full of sass and I love that)

I’m going to say Inej, because so far I’ve just avoided writing her completely. I love her, but I feel like she’s just so nuanced and I haven’t had a Proper Think about her yet enough to do her justice.

But if it really were to happen, be it planned or unplanned, he's not against the idea of raising a baby with his partner. So, to answer this question shortly, Xuan is pretty much neutral to the topic of children, leaning towards being open to the idea of becoming a father if chance showed itself.
